Bruichladdich Whisky Port Charlotte PMC: 01
Port Charlotte is a coastal village on the Isle of Islay, after which this whisky is named. The Bruichladdich distillery has revived the "Port Charlotte" brand to produce a range of whiskies that are heavily smoky and reflect the island's maritime heritage.
This bottling was distilled in 2013 with pure Islay spring water and bottled at 9 years old. The PMC:01 was aged for 4 years in first fill bourbon barrels before maturing for a further 5 years in Pomerol casks. The phenol content of this non-chill-filtered whisky is 40 ppm.

Port Charlotte 10 Year Second Limited Edition and 8 Year (2007) CC:01
Review by: ZoidbergOnTheRocks A couple of samples of Port Charlotte. I don’t have this as much as I should, and it’s generally quite good. I tend to gravitate towards Octomore and overlook PC, and that’s a shame. I blame Bruichladdich. Tasted on 3/7/2021, neat in a Glencairn. Stock image is from Bruichladdich, retrieved on 2021/03/03. Port Charlotte 10 Year Second Limited Edition I like that…

I brought back a few goodies from Edinburgh! I've yet to crack open the little baby Bunnahabhain, but the other three are fantastic!
The Woodrows of Edinburgh Bunnahabhain 7yo bottled on 7/20/22 is an oddball from the distillery. Very peaty, but also a sherry bomb as well. Incredibly smooth and drinkable at cask strength, but adding water brings out an even smoother profile. Like a milk chocolate bar by the campfire.
The Treasurer Selection Bruichladdich 2004 is an unpeated Islay malt. An easy drinker but leaning toward vanilla and spice. Like lunch with a work buddy.
The Cadenheads Jura 11yo from Spring 2011 is unbelievable. Dark chocolate coats your goat. Musky and rich. You just cracked open a 300 year old dictionary to the definition of "goodies".
Cheers!

The best Octomore is the Octomore you don't expect. We found this gorgeous @bruichladdich Octomore 12.3 by happenstance and didn't even hesitate. Then we read @drinkdistiller's review, which confirmed we made the right decision. 25% of the distillate spent 5 years in Pedro Ximenez Solera Casks (!), while the rest built the backbone in ex-American oak. But what we love most is that it is made from barley grown in a single field on Islay at Octomore Farm and is comprised of a single vintage. What beautiful work! The PX cask gives it a sweetness that truly complements the 118.1 PPM peat. Extreme dark chocolate sprinkled with pepper and wrapped in leather, in tandem with caramel chews. This installment gets all the thumbs up! . . . #bruichladdich #octomore #octomorefarm #islaybarley #singlefield #singlevintage #heavilypeated #singlemalt #scotch #whisky #whiskey #aquavitae #uiscebeatha #uisgebeatha #Islay #peat #whiskyaesthetic #womenwhowhiskey Bruichladdich Octomore 12.3 62.1% ABV, No Age Statement Region: Islay Cask: Ex-American Oak, Pedro Ximenz Solera (at Salem, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/CiZDOsSrU40/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Whisky Smash
Tumblr media
It is less suffocating today, but still warm and sunny; the perfect weather to enjoy a refreshing Whisky Smash whilst listening to Gloomsbury in the garden. Vera and Ginny like a G&T, but I’m sure they’d also enjoy this cooling cocktail as “it is sometime in the 1920s and Sizzlinghurst Castle in Kent is bathed in warm Spring sunshine; the sap is rising, the buds are bursting, the birds are singing and the bees, well, they’re just being!”
Ingredients (serves 1):
3 wedges of a juicy lemon
4 large leaves fresh mint
6 ice cubes
60 millilitres/2 fluid ounces (4 tablespoons) Single Malt Whisky
22.5 millilitres/3/4 fluid ounce (1 1/2 tablespoons) Simple Syrup
4 ice cubes
the tip of a mint sprig
Place lemon wedges in a shaker and muddle them thoroughly with a muddler to extract their juice. Tear in mint leaves and muddle thoroughly once more. Add ice cubes, and top with Whisky and Simple Syrup. Close shaker tightly and shake energetically until well-chilled.
Spoon ice cubes in a rocks glass, and double strain cocktail over the ice. Garnish with mint sprig.
Enjoy Whisky Smash immediately.

Whisky: Bruichladdich Octomore 10.1

Octomore (Bruichladdich) 13.1
Specialty shops in UK, EU and major US cities Highly recommended For the details… Islay’s Bruichladdich distillery produces three distinct varietals: the core Bruichladdich range, using unpeated malt, Port Charlotte, using heavily peated malt, and Octomore, using super heavily peated malt. Port Charlotte is the nearest town, and also the name of a now defunct Islay distillery; Octomore…

A nice scotch after a long week. Bruichladdich Islay Barley 8 year old scotch. 50% ABV, un-chill filtered and natural color. The barley used in this scotch is from 8 identified farms on Islay. For an 8 year old scotch, it is surprisingly smooth.

Bruichladdich 10 Year "The Laddie Ten"
Review by: The Muskox Bruichladdich was my favourite distillery for a long time. I’m not sure it still is, but I do still try to taste as many of their whiskies as I can. This is the original 46% ABV edition of The Laddie 10, which was eventually replaced by the current pseudo-vintage-stated Classic Laddie release. Distillery: Bruichladdich. Bottler: Official bottling. Region: Islay. ABV:…

Review - Bruichladdich, Octomore 12.3, (No Age Stated), 62.1%
The summer’s early morning sun, as full at this moment as it will be in the late evening, is peering through my window. Its beams promise a wonderfully scorching day. There are no such promises in autumn or winter. I’m a summer man. I need what summer brings. However, as a Michigander, I’ll admit to an occasional affair with autumn. But never winter. Winter is the devil’s business. Autumn is…
