Thanks to everyone who read and interacted with Part 1. Things get a little wild in this one...
“I should have never come here,” Natasha cries. “You don’t deserve this, after everything you’ve done for me–”
“I can help you,” you insist. “Please, Nat. Just tell me who they are–”
She looks up at you, and even in the darkness the fear in her eyes is unmissable.
“The Red Room.”
The words send physical shivers down your spine. They weren’t ones you had expected to ever hear again, and you were shocked that this woman knew of its existence, let alone escaped. Now, you can fully sympathize with and understand her fear.
“Put your shoes on. We’ll go out the back door. Hurry.” You speak in short but commanding sentences, directing Natasha into the kitchen. The pounding on the door escalates to heavy, inconsistent thuds, and you know the “officers” are using their battering ram now. Luckily, you had assembled this cabin yourself, board by board, with the door built of solid oak, so that would buy you some precious time.
You stop at the freezer to grab a plastic bag that Natasha doesn’t even look at. She’s staring at the back door, practically shaking with fear, and anger fills you so suddenly you can’t see. But you can’t slip into one of your rages now, not with Natasha being in such close proximity and having no idea what you’re actually capable of. If she knew who you really were, what you were, she’d run happily into the Red Room goons’ arms and beg them to take her away from you.
On the other side of the back door, you hear the crunch of boots on fresh snow, the anxious heartbeats, and the pump of a shotgun.
You don’t have any time to warn Natasha before you jump in front of her, shielding her body with yours just in time as a round of buckshot blasts through the door into your chest. The pain is like an explosion that takes your breath away, but luckily darkness engulfs you before it becomes overbearing.
Natasha screams when your weight falls back into her. You are ridiculously, unexpectedly heavy, almost pinning her down, but she manages to scramble back in time, leaving you to thud onto the floor. She stares at your body in shock, where lead pellets are buried in your chest, blood seeping out to soak your layers of shirts. Natasha instinctively gravitates for you, trying to find an area to apply pressure so she can slow the bleeding.
“Y/N, Y/N,” she whimpers, ignoring the fist punching through the weakened door and opening the lock from the outside.
“Hey, I found her!”
“And you took out the other one!”
“Natalia…” someone says in a mocking voice. “Natalia, come home to us…”
Natasha’s head snaps up and adrenaline fills her veins as she blindly launches herself at the soldier who killed you. She tears the shotgun out of his hands and clubs him on the head with it, knocking him down and smashing the butt into his helmet’s face shield until it cracks. She hasn’t felt fury like this in a while, putting her in an almost euphoric state, but her focus is a concentrated pinpoint, and she doesn’t see the second soldier behind her pointing a gun at her head.
“RAHHHHH!”
Natasha ducks, wondering if someone let a large animal into your home. She catches a flash of silver as the muzzle of the soldier’s gun falls harmlessly to the floor as if sliced right off. You’re back on your feet all of a sudden, teeth bared in a ferocious snarl, three silver, knife-like claws protruding from your knuckles. You slash at the soldier, tearing through his body armor effortlessly and puncturing his heart. He crumples next to his partner, who’s shaking in complete terror while crawling away from you.
“Don’t look, Nat,” you growl and she turns away, flinching when she hears the man’s cut off scream. She jumps when you grab her shoulder, afraid that she’ll find herself on the other end of your knives, but you shake her gently. When she looks at you, your knives are gone and so are the buckshot holes in your chest.
“How are you–What did you–” Natasha stammers.
“It’s okay,” you say, taking a step back from her when you sense her overwhelming levels of stress. “I’ll take care of you. I promise.”
Natasha slips her hand into her pocket, where your stolen pocket knife is. It would be like trying to fight you off with a toothpick, but Natasha Romanoff wasn’t one to go down without a fight.
“Nat, please. We can get away on my motorcycle. Come on.”
You’ve made no move to hurt her, keeping your hands where she can see them. Even though you had turned the Red Room soldiers into shish kabobs, you hadn’t let them suffer, taking them down with deadly accuracy and efficiency. Deep down, Natasha knows she can trust you, but her body is having a very resistant physical reaction to going with you. After all, anyone’s natural instinct would be to run very fast and far from away from a person who literally came back from the dead and mowed down two grown men with knives built into their arms.
“Nat?” you prompt a final time, not sure what you’re going to do if she refuses to go with you.
“Okay,” she says, wringing her hands together frantically. “I trust you.”
It means more than you can explain that she’s put her faith in you and you lead her out of the bloodied kitchen. You race to the shed, where you tear off the padlock with your bare hands. There’s only one helmet, which you clasp around Natasha’s head. You throw one leg over the seat of your motorcycle and it sinks considerably under your weight. Natasha slides on behind you, wrapping her arms around your muscular torso, unable to resist the waves of body heat coming off of you.
She hardly notices the blistering wind as you take off into the forest, somehow finding your way around trees and rocks despite keeping the headlights off. Her fingers are clenched, almost frozen, to the plastic bag you had made such an effort to retrieve from the freezer. She has no interest in its contents now, clinging to you desperately and closing her eyes, hoping that when she opens them she’ll wake up from this nightmare.
You eventually turn the motorcycle onto a road and careen on.
*********************************************************************** It’s probably not the wisest idea to stop at a motel, but you’re certain Natasha is still exhausted from the long night that’s not over, and you need some time to collect yourself. You park your motorcycle in the dirt lot and shake Natasha awake.
“We’ll stay here for a few hours, then keep moving,” you say, gently prying the plastic bag from her. Her hands are freezing and you feel awful for not taking care of her better.
“But the men…they could catch up–”
“You need to get proper rest,” you interrupt. You’re not sure how many hours she had been awake before she met you at the bar, and while she’d already been looking better after dinner, you didn’t want to push her.
“This is too dangerous–” Natasha protests.
“They know you’re with me,” you say, and this quiets her. “So they’ll need to come up with a new plan if they want you.” You untwist the plastic bag, pulling out a soggy wad of cash. Her eyes grow wide. “This should keep us covered for a few days.” Then, you notice the rusty red splotches of dried blood splattered across your shirt. If you walk up to the front desk like this, the manager would call the cops. “Uh…shit.”
“Here.” Natasha takes her jacket off, despite your protests for her to keep it on, and she wraps the sleeves around your shoulders, carefully draping them in a way that hides the blood splatter. She fights back a visible shiver. “Much better.”
“Thanks. Let’s go quick,” you say, herding her into the tiny front office that barely fits the two of you side-by-side. “Two rooms,” you tell the pimply boy behind the dusty desk who smells like energy drinks and weed.
“Huh?” he responds, blinking slowly at you.
“Two rooms. Please,” you say through your teeth, pulling out a few bills to show your commitment.
A long pause as you stare each other down.
“Uh, yeah we don’t have two rooms,” the boy says. “Just one–”
“That’s fine, then,” Natasha intervenes, as you can consider hefting the kid over your shoulder and dragging him out to the dumpster around the corner. “We’ll take whatever you have left.”
“Sure.”
You reluctantly hand over the deposit and he disappears into the back room to find the keys. Mumbling under your breath about the lack of hiring standards, you rub absently at your chest and Natasha looks at you in concern.
“You okay?” she whispers.
“Yeah.” You drop your hand back to your side. “Probably gonna cough up some buckshot later, to be honest.”
Natasha doesn’t know if she should laugh or leave. “How did you…” she trails off, searching for the right words.
“Heal so fast?” you supply. “Always have. I was literally just…born that way.”
“And the…” Natasha gestures to her own hands and forearms.
“Claws?” you finish. “Been with me since the beginning, too.” Your answers are vague, almost useless in the new number of questions they spark, but Natasha knows now is not the time. The boy finally returns with a key hooked to rabbit’s foot, which you accept with a very judgemental scowl, but are very glad to finally be on your way to some privacy for the night.
***********************************************************************
Natasha startles awake, trying to piece together the traumatic memories of the past eight hours into a coherent storyline. She’s alone in the motel room, her anxiety skyrocketing at the thought that you might have ditched her, when the door creaks open and you step back in. You’re wearing new clothes and holding a crumpled white bag stained with grease.
“Did you sleep okay?” you grunt, tossing the bag onto the bed by her feet. “I got you some breakfast. It’s probably shit, but everything else nearby is closed.”
“Thanks.” Natasha reaches for the bag, despite having almost no appetite. She takes out one of the sandwiches, but can’t bring herself to take a bite. “Y/N, I think we need to get moving again. We’ve hung around for too long–”
“Eat your damn sandwich, then we’ll leave,” you gruff, and it’s almost endearing to Natasha how grumpy and thoughtful you can be at the same time. “But you know, we can’t keep running forever.”
“We can run far enough,” she insists. You don’t respond and Natasha realizes you’re waiting for her to take a bite of her egg and sausage sandwich. Fighting back a smile of amusement, she nibbles off the edge of the dry muffin and you nod in satisfaction.
“Look Nat, I want to help you. You know that, right? But I’m…familiar…with these Red Room goons and–” Her eyebrows shoot up as she keeps chewing. “That’s another story for another day.”
“Did you escape from them, too?” Natasha asks, her eyes wide.
“Well, not exactly. But I know who they are. What they are. And what they do to women like you.”
Natasha tenses suddenly, sensing judgment from you. She’s ready to defend herself, that she didn’t let them break her or keep her hostage, when you add, “They should be burned to the ground. Just a bunch of psychopathic perverts.” She laughs out loud, startling you because you weren’t even trying to make a joke, but you let out a snort.
“But they’re a damn smart bunch of perverts,” you continue. “And you know we can’t take them alone. I have some old friends that can help us. I’ll take you to them.”
“More old friends? Like the one who’s clothes I’m wearing?” Natasha says, wanting to join in on the lighter mood, but she immediately regrets so when she sees the sadness cloud your face.
“Not like that,” you murmur. “She would’ve helped us, though. But she’s gone now, so…”
Natasha doesn’t know what to say, guilt gnawing at her stomach for making such an unnecessary joke.
“They’re in New York. It’s been a while since I last saw them, but I’m sure they wouldn’t mind us stopping by,” you say to break the silence. “They’d help us without question.”
“Even against…the Red Room?”
“They’d have those Red Room schmucks for breakfast,” you chortle, the mood lightening once more. The knot in Natasha’s stomach loosens, and she takes another bite of the sandwich. “But it’s gonna take us a while to get there. And we’ll probably need a car…”
“I’ll handle it,” Natasha volunteers.
You look at her with a raised eyebrow, challenging but curious. “Okay. We’ll go when you’re done eating.”
***********************************************************************
While you clear out the motel room of all your tracks, Natasha triumphantly returns with the keys to a large blue Ram truck. You’re sad to leave your motorcycle behind, but it’s served you well, so you take it for one final ride to a strip mall, Natasha following in her menacing blue truck. You park in a shaded corner, saying good-bye with a caress to the faded leather seat, then join Natasha in the truck.
With good weather and little traffic, the drive would take about 40 hours. And even though you’d be able to make the entire drive yourself with minimal stops, Natasha won’t let you. It’s a long first day, stopping for more junk food and bathroom breaks. You buy a phone from a gas station to text your contact in Westchester, and in the few responses you share, they seem eager for your arrival despite your circumstances.
Another night is spent at a shoddy motel, and this time you don’t automatically ask for separate rooms. Natasha seems comfortable in your presence–tolerant, at the very least–and you’re starting to enjoy her company too. She keeps to herself for the most part and even though you can feel her studying you sometimes, she doesn’t ask anything inappropriate. She also tries to take care of you, though you think of yourself as the last person who needs it, but it’s cute how she picks up on your favorite gas station snacks (the jerky and Snickers bars) and buys you extra packets behind your back, and she offers to drive almost every time the two of you get back into the truck.
So on the third and final day of your trip, when Natasha begs to make a stop at a mall in Ohio, you agree, mostly because you know how happy it will make her. While the mall itself is disappointingly unimpressive, Natasha has the biggest smile as she drags you around under the pretense that she wants to find some clothing that wasn’t bought from a gas station, but she tries to browse every store, commenting which retailers have taken the old spots of familiar locations from her childhood.
“Try this one on,” Natasha says, thrusting yet another checkered flannel shirt at you.
“They all look the same,” you grumble, feeling that you may be colorblind because you can’t tell what’s different about the prior three she’s made you try.
“No, this one goes better with your eyes,” she says, her cheeks suddenly turning red when she realizes what she’s said.
You grin at her. “Then I’ll buy this one.”
You proudly wear the shirt out of the store, sneaking a glance to see Natasha’s expression and she does seem even more excited than when you first arrived at the mall. For lunch, you stop in the food court, and while you’re wolfing down a triple-patty burger with frightening intensity, Natasha suddenly reaches across the table and grabs your hand.
“What?” You stop mid-bite.
“Behind you,” she hisses.
Wiping grease off your chin, you drop your shoulder and turn your head subtly. But you know immediately who Natasha’s referring to. A woman with long black hair tied into an immaculate ponytail, not a single stray hair flying about, wearing a black overcoat and gloves, strides towards the food court with purposeful, powerful steps. You recognize her posture, her outfit, and the cold, emotionless expression on her face.
“Holy shit,” you mumble. “They sent a Widow after us.”
“We have to go!” Natasha tries yanking up but she isn’t strong enough. “How do you think she found us?”
“They’ve probably been tracking us the whole time,” you say, sad to leave the remainder of your meal. “They were just waiting for the right time to strike.” It’s hard to walk fast without making it obvious that you’re running from someone. You offer Natasha your hand and she takes it without hesitation. You drag her along a little, urging her without words. “It’ll be fine, Nat. We’ll take care of her and keep moving.”
“We shouldn’t have stopped here. This was all my stupid idea,” she says.
“It wasn’t a stupid idea. I liked it.”
If the two of you weren’t running from a Widow, Natasha would have stopped and hugged you. Although she hasn’t known you for more than four days, she feels completely safe with you and has a deep admiration for you. You’ve never prodded about her past, you’ve never judged from where she came from. While you’re not such an open book yourself, Natasha can see how much you’ve relaxed around her from your first meeting. She likes your calmness, your willingness to drop literally everything in your life for her, with no expectation of anything in return. She’s never met someone like you before but hopes that you’ll let her stay around even after this mess is cleaned up.
“Go this way,” you say, nudging Natasha into a maintenance corridor, having seen a sign for roof access on one of the walls. At least you could take care of the Widow without worrying about innocent casualties–assuming there weren’t more hiding up there. “Take the stairs,” you instruct Natasha, pushing her into the stairwell.
“I hope you don’t expect me to jump from the roof,” she replies.
“Well, if we have to, I’ll jump first and catch you,” you quip, but there is no time for her to linger on your comment. She dashes up the three flights of stairs with lightning speed, while you lumber up behind her.
“The door’s locked,” she says, stopping in her tracks.
“Move.” Your middle claw rips out of your hand and you slide it between the jamb and wall to cut the lock. Throwing your weight against the door, it pops open easily and you stumble out into the unusually bright outside. “Let’s go.”
“Where?”
“Just hide somewhere and wait.”
Natasha is skeptical of your plans, not wanting to be caught in a dead end with another Widow, but she hurries towards an air conditioning unit. When she turns around, she sees you’re not following her and are facing the roof access door, your claws sliding out as the Widow makes her appearance, now wearing a gas mask.
“Y/N!” Natasha screams with no other way to stop you.
The Widow tosses a metal canister that immediately releases a thick, white fog. It hides the Widow and worse, burns your eyes until they water and destroys your sense of smell with a piercing, peppery odor.
“Shit.” You drop onto your belly, searching for a breathable pocket of air. You hear another canister clang to the ground, spreading the white fog farther and farther. As you crawl to where you think Natasha is taking cover, the unmistakable pops of gunfire ring through your skull.
Your sense of sight, smell, and now sound are completely unreliable and fear ices your veins as you think about Natasha’s safety. But she’s also a Widow herself, so you’ll have to trust that she can handle herself while you figure out the way to her. You force yourself up, wiping snot on the sleeves of your new flannel and hunkering down, focusing hard to feel the vibrations of movement on the roof. You pivot left, inching forward cautiously. The faint click of a rifle trigger alerts you and you lash out with your claws, slicing uselessly through the fog. But it was nothing but a ruse, as the Widow comes up behind you and stabs you in the neck with a pronged instrument that sends hundreds of volts of electricity through your body. Your muscles seize and you collapse to the ground, seizing uncontrollably.
You’re pretty sure you’ve bitten your tongue off as blood fills your mouth and you start choking, unable to roll to your side to cough it out. The Widow points the muzzle of her at your face, pressing the cold metal tip to your forehead. You bare your teeth in a vicious snarl, wishing you could will control back into your body to slash her throat out.
“Good night, mutt,” the Widow says.
***********************************************************************
Natasha tucks her mouth and nose into her elbow, charging into the fog while wielding the tiny pocket knife she stole from your apartment. She tackles the Widow with her full bodyweight, puncturing the blade through her vest deep enough that the Widow screams, dropping her gun.  Knocking off the Widow’s mask and pulling her into a tight headlock, Natasha squeezes her arms as tight as she can, counting the number of seconds it takes before the assassin finally stops struggling and slumps to the ground. With watering eyes from the gas, Natasha strips the Widow of her equipment, despite knowing that at her peak, her bare hands would be deadly enough weapons. The gas starts to spread further and further and Natasha can finally see your convulsing body.
She runs over to you, tentatively yanking the taser out of your neck. You take a huge breath of air, rolling to your side and coughing hard.
“Thanks,” you mutter as your tongue grows back. Shakily you get to your feet, touching the side of your neck and feeling the jagged openings left by the taser slowly closing. “Where is she? I’m gonna–”
“No. Let’s go,” Natasha intervenes, grabbing onto a handful of your shirt to stop you, like you’re a dog on a leash. You push her away, stomping over to where the Widow is lying motionless. Your claws pop out. She won’t feel anything.
“Y/N, STOP!” Natasha yells and you freeze, turning to glare at her.
“They sent her to kill us,” you seethe.
“But she’s not herself,” Natasha begs. “She’s being controlled. You know that. Please don’t kill her. She was just…She was just following orders.”
You clench your fist, the muscles in your forearm rippling as you retract your claws. Natasha gulps and takes a visible step back from you. She’s never seen such rage in your features before, not that it would be unwarranted, but it almost seems like you’re on the verge of completely losing control. Your expression twitches when you smell the fear rolling off Natasha in waves. She’s not afraid of the Widow anymore. She’s afraid of you.
“Fine. Sorry,” you grunt, backing up. You want to put your claws down your throat for scaring her like this. Your whole life you had fought to convince everyone that you were more than the animal you were born to be. It always felt like a losing battle.
“No, I’m sorry,” Natasha says. “I said something that upset you.”
“Is that mine?” You’re suddenly distracted by the sight of a small knife poking out of the Widow’s side.
“Uh…” Natasha glances at you sheepishly. “I thought it would come in handy eventually.”
“Hmm.” You don’t dwell on it though, having other things to worry about. “Let’s just get the hell out of here.”
The parking lot is a jumbled mess as people hurry to leave as emergency vehicles enter the premises. You keep your head down, hoping you’re moving fast enough for no one to notice the few stains of blood on your collar. Natasha races to keep pace with you. She’s barely able to jump into the truck in time before you have it in drive, speeding out of the parking lot.
“Thank you,” Natasha finally whispers as you merge onto the highway.
“For what?” you grunt, your knuckles clenched tightly around the steering wheel.
“For not killing her.”
You make another grunting noise.
“You know she doesn’t deserve that.”
“It’s not about what she deserves,” you snarl. “She was there to kill me and take you back to the Red Room. Which she failed to do. So if anything, the Red Room will probably kill her–”
“They wouldn’t do that,” Natasha interjects. “The Widows are huge investments. That’s why they want me alive.”
“Well, they don’t really seem to care if you get in their crosshairs of trying to kill me.” You don’t like how your words come out, but it’s too late to take them back now. You know none of this is Natasha’s fault–you were the one who willingly came to her aid, who insisted on driving her across the country, who offered your own friends to help.
“You don’t deserve this either.” Natasha’s voice drops. She sounds small, and when you side-eye her, she’s curled up in her seat in a way that makes her look small too. You frown. “You were just trying to be a decent person, and now you’ve had your life threatened several times, you had to leave your home, you’re being chased across the country–”
“Stop it,” you interrupt. “If this is the consequences of my actions, then so be it. I’d do it again a thousand times for you. Because you’re worth it.”
“I am?” Natasha looks at you in disbelief, partially because this is the most emotional she’s ever heard you and partially because she wonders if this is you admitting you have feelings for her.
“Yes,” you confirm, giving her a slight smirk before focusing on the road.
***********************************************************************
The final stretch of the drive is rough, but you make it. It’s nighttime now and exhaustion weighs on your shoulders from the entire day’s events. You shake Natasha awake as you park on the driveway.
“We’re here,” you say, cutting the lights and turning off the engine. Natasha gets out of the car, gaping at the enormous mansion you’ve stopped in front of. As you walk with her up to the front door, she stops to read the plaque.
“‘Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters,’” she says. “Hang on, this place is a school? Why would you bring us here? You’re putting children in danger, Y/N–”
“Hold on,” you cut her off. “The kids and staff here? They’re just like me.”
“Just like you? Meaning–” Before Natasha can finish her sentence, the front doors swing open and a woman with spiky gray hair appears, throwing herself at you.
“Y/N!” she cries.
“Hey, Ororo,” you mumble, returning her hug with a little less passion. “Sorry to arrive so late. Ran into a little trouble earlier…”
“You made it safely and that’s all that matters.” She pats your shoulders affectionately. “Hi there. I’m Ororo,” the woman introduces herself to Natasha, awkwardly standing off to your side. “But the kids around here call me Storm.”
“I’m Natasha.”
“Please, come in. It’s freezing and I know you’ve both been on the road for days,” Ororo invites. “Your room is all prepped, Y/N.”
You hadn’t even thought to ask her for another guest room, but you have a feeling Natasha won’t mind sharing again. You gesture for her to enter the mansion first. She seems in awe, and a little overwhelmed, that this building had been converted into a boarding school. Maybe later you’ll take her to the basements to show her the other half of the school.
A man wearing ruby sunglasses despite the midnight hour stands at the bottom of the staircase, a beautiful red-headed woman by his side.
“Jean,” you breathe, almost frozen in her presence.
“Hi, Y/N,” Jean says in a sultry voice that makes your heart beat embarrassingly faster. Natasha feels a prick of jealousy when she sees the way you’re looking at this new woman.
“Y/N!” the man barks.
“Good to see you too, Scott,” you add, not noticing the way Natasha moves closer to you, almost brushing against your arm. “This is Nat. She’s been traveling with me for the past few days, and–”
“You’re the one who escaped the Red Room,” Scott says, and Natasha cringes.
“Yeah, she is,” you answer, annoyed by his tone of voice.
“And how do we know that we can trust her?” Scott asks.
“Because I trust her.”
There’s a pause while Scott accepts this answer.
“I just finished heating dinner up for you two. It’s in the kitchen,” Ororo interrupts. She’s the only one thrilled to host guests, you think.
“Thanks, Ro,” you say.
“Well now that you’re back, Y/N, we actually need a substitute P.E. teacher tomorrow morning,” Scott teases, his arm going around Jean’s waist. “How about filling in, for old time’s sake?”
You raise your arm, extending the middle claw only. Everyone howls in laughter.
“Put that away,” Ororo chastises. “Come and eat now, before the food goes cold.”
You and Natasha start walking after her, but you stop when you hear the whir of wheels, an older bald man zipping up to you in a wheelchair.
“Professor,” you greet, for the first time taking the initiative to hug, leaning down to embrace him. “Thanks for helping us out. We really appreciate it.”
The man smiles, a twinkle in his eye. “Of course. Welcome back, Y/N.”

Three Part Harmony (18/?)
Twelve hours alone in a cell, and then back into the interview room, this time shackled to the floor. When Skinner walked in, Mulder had a distinct sense of Déjà vu.
“When I asked for a lawyer, I wasn’t expecting you,” Mulder said. “We tried that once. Didn’t go so well.”
“I remember,” Skinner said, dropping heavily into the chair across from him.
The room didn’t have a window, just a bluish fluorescent light that hummed at a frequency that made Mulder want to hitch his shoulders up over his ears. Skinner’s countenance was grave.
“What is it?” Mulder asked, his first thought: Scully, Scully, Scully.
Skinner sighed. “They’re sending me back to DC. My task force as well.”
Mulder unclenched a little. “We got a whole task force? The girls at the salon will never believe this.”
Skinner ignored him. “I assembled it myself,” he said. “Level heads. Uncompromised .”
The man was warning him, Mulder realized.
“You worried about the local yokels?”
Again, Skinner breezed past his glib comments. “You’re to be transferred to a federal facility in Utah,” he went on. “Transportation by US Marshals, the whole nine yards.”
“They’re really rolling out the red carpet. I’m humbled.”
“Once I leave, I can’t help you, Mulder,” Skinner said plainly. “The agent taking over was sent from on high. The providence of which stinks to high heaven. You’ll need to be extremely careful. And you are going to need a shit-hot lawyer.”
“Think the mesothelioma guy I saw on TV is available? I’ve heard good things about class action.”
Skinner leveled a crestfallen look at him. “You’re being awfully flippant.”
“That’s because I remember how this goes,” Mulder said, suddenly weary, thinking of a baton ringing off the bars of his military cell. Wrong answer!
Skinner sighed. “Your fate may well be decided, Mulder,” he said sadly. “But hers isn’t. His isn’t. If they’re nearby, they should go. And they should not stop moving.”
Everything inside Mulder went flat. It felt like Mount Weather all over again. He sighed. “Can you tell her?” he said quietly. “Can you let her know what’s happening?”
Skinner licked his lips, nodded solemnly.
“Before you leave town, you really ought to try the pie at this one diner on route 80. Coffee’s good, too.” Mulder gave him a significant look.
“I know the place,” Skinner said, his eyes soft. “I’ll be sure to stop in.”
XxXxXxXxXxX
When she was a girl, just up from Georgia, the stink of burning crosses still sharp in her nose, Rhonda Fitzsimmons befriended a wild doe with black-tipped ears.
The deer had a noticeable limp in her right foreleg, and would frequently bed down under the trees behind Rhonda’s uncle’s cabin with her small matriarchal herd. But when the other deer would wander off in the morning to search for food, Rhonda’s doe would stay put, sometimes lolling for the entirety of the day in the soft, fragrant needles of pine.
Rhonda would watch her from the back bedroom, thinking at first that the deer was just comfortable and lazy, but realizing, when the poor thing tried to stand, that she was in fact hurt, and wasn’t moving on with the other deer because she couldn’t .
The girl recognized in the animal a familiar, as wounded as Rhonda was, equally as unable to move on. She named the doe Peaches, and imagined her fur was as soft as the stone fruit from the fields Rhonda had so recently and regretfully left.
She began sneaking carrots and apples from the crisper drawer, wilting celery, various vegetable odds and ends that she quietly plucked from her uncle’s composting pile, and took them all out behind the house, walking softly and quietly, and throwing them as best she could through the stands of trees toward the injured deer.
The other deer, if they were around, would leap from their beds as Rhonda approached, their tails flung up to reveal the white danger! signal intrinsic to the species. But Peaches, unable to leap like her sisters, would remain prone, her ears swiveling, following Rhonda’s every move, her glistening black muzzle bobbing, sipping the air for information hidden from less sensitive noses.
Rhonda would then back away respectfully and turn to go back inside, watching from her window as the deer would slowly and shakily rise to her feet and limp to whatever Rhonda had left for her, chewing lazily with her right leg pulled awkwardly up, the smooth cloven hoof an arrow pointed at her underbelly.
Peaches and her herd would sometimes disappear for days or weeks at a time, and Rhonda would wake in the night, squinting into the dark, trying to see through the inky black night, convinced the deer had finally succumbed to her injuries. And then, at times she would least expect it, like a soft, rare apracity after long gray winter days, there Peaches would be; thin but whole, her liquid eyes seeming to search out Rhonda’s.
The deer, her leg injury never quite mending, would go on to visit Rhonda for two more improbable years before finally disappearing from the mountain and Rhonda’s life, as though she had waited for the girl to heal where she could not. As though she was a quiet answer to a silent prayer.
Rhonda remembered Peaches now, as she watched the mother and her young son, reminding herself that the chances for a miracle, though infinitesimally small, were not exactly zero.

When Agent Bryson walked in, Mulder pinched the bridge of his nose. He tried to recall if he’d ever seen an episode of Law & Order that took place entirely in an interrogation room. He would have turned it off.
He wondered if the Sheriff department’s door had even shut on Skinner and the rest of his team before Bryson barged into the interview room carrying a thick Manila file folder and the acrid scent of stale cigarette smoke.
The man looked Mulder over eagerly, which irritated him to the point that he casually looked down at his wrist, as if the booking officer hadn’t taken his watch.
“Mr. Mulder, my name is Special Agent Bryson with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I believe we were once eligible to share the same credit union.”
Mulder ignored him, again looked at his wrist, then rubbed the strip of pale skin.
“You have somewhere else to be?” Bryson asked, a hint of annoyance creeping into his voice.
Mulder shrugged. “Miss Otis regrets she’s unable to lunch today.”
“I’ll say. You’re in some trouble.”
Again, Mulder shrugged, sensing that his blasé attitude was getting under the other agent’s skin, and drawing a small amount of satisfaction from the offense.
Bryson narrowed his eyes and lowered himself into the chair Skinner had vacated.
“You no longer have the assistant director to protect you.”
“That much is obvious,” Mulder finally spoke. “I’m going to exercise my right to remain silent if it’s all the same to you.”
It was Bryson’s turn to shrug. The other man studied him for a long minute and then opened the file in front of him, scanning the contents for far longer than he needed to. Mulder was willing to bet the guy knew that file inside and out.
Finally the other man flipped the folder closed and sighed, looking at Mulder frankly.
“How about we both stop pretending that we don’t know exactly what each other wants.”
The buzzing from the overhead lights seemed to get louder, and Mulder cracked his neck before speaking. “You’re willing to admit that you have no interest whatsoever in justice? That you’re merely a tool in the machinations of more powerful men? That’s unexpected, but refreshing.”
“I’m talking about what we both want, Mulder,” Bryson said. “And only some of those wants are at cross purposes.” The man looked at him as if willing him to get on his page. Finally he asked, “How’s Scully?”
At the mention of her name, his stomach rocked in upheaval, but Mulder remained stonily silent.
“Dry climate, high altitude,” Bryson went on. “Either of you ever get vertigo? Short of breath?…Nosebleeds?”
His inflection on the last word made Mulder’s blood run cold.
“We don’t really care about you, Mulder,” the man went on, not knowing what kind of storm he’d ignited in Mulder’s heart. “And though Scully has proved useful in the past, her contributions… Well, we have what we need from her. In fact, I could probably be talked into dropping the charges against you. Letting the two of you walk free.”
Wants, Bryson had said. The bastard wasn’t off the mark.
“In exchange for what?” Mulder asked, already knowing the answer.
“I have two…colleagues…with a very interesting story about something that happened to them in a little boy’s bedroom across the state line in Montana.”
With the birth of William, Mulder’s wants had shifted. Seismically. With the same kind of tumult currently running roughshod through his heart. In a flash of rage, Mulder pulled on the chains that secured his handcuffs to the floor in impotent fury. Bryson had the temerity to laugh.
“William’s number had been called, but his priority stature has gone through the roof, Mulder. The next time we come for your boy, we’ll be sending a lot more than just four mercenaries.” All pretense that Bryson was an upstanding federal officer whose sole aspiration was the interest of justice was gone.
Mulder tried to stand, but the chains held his hands at knee-level, forcing him to stoop. He wanted to throw himself at the agent, could understand why chained dogs still hurled themselves against their restraints. He wanted to bark, growl, slaver, rip the man’s throat out with his teeth. If Bryson noticed, he didn’t care.
“The forces coming to take William will be like the very hand of God. People will get hurt.” ‘People,’ Bryson said. Scully , Mulder heard.
Mulder dropped heavily back into the metal chair, beads of sweat on his upper lip.
“Bring the child to me, and nothing will happen to Scully. You’ll both be free to go, to get back to your lives in DC, if you want. See your families. Reacquire your assets. No more running.”
Mulder’s mind reeled, but Bryson continued to sit there casually.
“The two of you can make other babies, Mulder,” he then went on. “You’ve certainly had a lot of practice lately.”
Blood was rushing through his head in such a roar, he barely heard the viscous words coming out of his own mouth.
“Fuck you.”
Bryson shrugged. “Suit yourself. Juries don’t take kindly to kidnappers. Though it will take months to bring you to trial. Lot can happen. Life has a way of…metastasizing.”
Mulder had to breathe through his nose to calm down. He had to remind himself; they had sent the chip to Agent Doggett when they’d removed it from Scully’s neck. Should anything turn sideways with her health, she would go to him and they could reimplant it if necessary.
William would need to separate from her until they could figure out a solution, but, Mulder hoped, Bryson’s threats were more empty than he realized. Mulder could withstand anything so long as he knew Scully and William were out there somewhere safe. He could withstand separation. He could withstand death itself.
He’d done it before.
“Tell me where they are.”
Mulder breathed deeply, regained his composure. “Over my dead body,” he said.
Bryson sucked on his teeth, nodded.
“You’re far more useful to me alive.”
When Mulder didn’t respond, the smile that crawled up Bryson’s face was serpent-like, revealing wide, brilliantly white teeth.
“Wherever you are, Dana Scully is never far away,” he explained. “And I know your son is with her. She gave him up once. She won’t make that mistake again. She’s terribly predictable.”
Dana Scully was many things, Mulder thought. ‘Predictable’ didn’t make his top twenty.
“So what does that make me?” he wanted to know.
“Bait,” Bryson said, flashing an incisor.

Watching that train anime that's currently airing and every time there's a shot of the driver's cabin I immediately understand why trainheads are so fucking obsessed. It's no wonder. What a wonderful contraption. Delightful assembly of doohickeys

I just can't seem to leave this man alone even in my own au👊😔
Speaking of, I still haven't thought of a proper name to call it, but it does have arcs and those have names.
Like this one is the off color arc ( it's kind of self-explanatory)
The purple highlights are there to show the color shift if I don't draw him in Sprite form ( and how they got there they just showed up one morning)
And his dad and aunt ( who still needs a name and Design) made him that arm as it's kind of tradition ( although it seemingly stops working when he shows more blue coloring)
And the previous Arc I decided to call the assembly arc ( which I got from that one lovely fanfic that someone wrote for this AU and yes they fine with me calling it that 👌)
Also bunny ( yeah I like giving ghosts the ability to turn into animals, but mostly as a way for them to leave areas they're trapped in to avoid getting cabin fever or just go around and goof off and probably more importantly to cool off steam if they are trapped in an area with other ghosts and they have an argument)

NSB (Straud Legacy) Gen 8 Ep. 134: Infants Galore
Peachy knew that Luigi would become an infant very shortly after he returned home, but his time as a newborn still seemed to end much to quickly as the household prepared to kick-off a whirlwind day of parties to age up the three cousins that had been born on that one very eventful evening.
Chance came over early and helped Jack fish lunch from the Bay. While Peachy grilled up their bounty the two men continued catching up inside while Jack prepared dessert. Before everyone else arrived, Gabby presented the boys with a little something she’d knitted for Luigi to celebrate the big day.
Tumblr media
---------------------------------------------
A few minutes later everyone assembled for the first event of what Spencer had dubbed “Baby-Palooza”; settling on the back patio in the sunshine.
Jack eagerly showed off his sweet tiny man to the assembled crowd, telling them all about the adventures they had already had together.
Comedian Peachy was in his element, delighted as usual to make others smile. This dad had been practicing and his dad jokes did not disappoint!
Tumblr media
---------------------------------------------
The two pairs of bracelet buddy bros set together at lunch and Paul explained the plans he and August had cooked up for his own birthday celebration.
Luigi would be old enough to come along and he thought it would be great if they all got a cabin in the mountains of Komorebi near August for a couple days so August could show them around the city. Both Jack and Peachy had plenty of PTO to use and quickly agreed to join in the fun.
Tumblr media
---------------------------------------------
After the meal it was time for the main event. Everyone gathered around while Peachy did the honors, Luigi floating calmly out of his bassinet and serenely down to the playmat arranged for him nearby.
The smallest member of the party didn’t stay on the ground for long. Naturally cautious, he began to fuss being all alone among so many unfamiliar faces and was quickly scooped up into his Papa Jack’s loving arms for a soothing snuggle.
Tumblr media
---------------------------------------------
Luigi joined the rest of the household in moving on to the next stop on the party train, the old juice farm in Henford where Tori’s baby Olive waited.
Luigi was a little nervous for his first trip out but warmed with Peachy’s gentle introduction to Auntie Tori and his little cousin. Everyone agreed that the boys would have to come back to the farm as soon as both babies were old enough to appreciate a playdate with Olive and the resident animals.
Tumblr media
---------------------------------------------
Now Olive and Luigi could follow the grownups off to the sunny shores of Sulani to meet Little Hunter for their final party of the tour.
It was dinnertime, and the island couple had planned ahead. Hunter’s bassinet was down on the beach next to a large BBQ pit in the sand. After the final newborn aged up Miguel and Peachy went over to help Toni with the meal while Jack, Manny, and Tori introduced the infants to the ocean.
Tumblr media
---------------------------------------------
As the sun sunk below the horizon the guests began to taper off. Jack and Peachy thanked the others for their hospitality and expressed a sincere desire to see them all again before making their own way back home.
By the time they arrived Luigi was exhausted, more than ready to put his new crib to use. During their trip it had quickly become apparent that their son wanted nothing so much as to be snuggled close to his Dada and Papa, and unsurprisingly began to fuss as they went to lay him down to sleep.
Jack quickly turned on the mobile he’d added, and it did an admirable job of soothing Luigi’s tears away with a sweet spinning lullaby. As their boy drifted off the two men stood nearby, admiring the awesome little person they were lucky enough to call their own.

Part 13 - Start of work
WARNING!: Swearing and insulting. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!
(I had to add a picture or else something wouldn't have been shown.)
Bruno was counting his steps as he marked with his sand the shape of the underground facility. Luisa followed him with the big heavy pot she found, to help him. Heiko was already planning with William about designs, weapons and upgrades, while they watched Bruno and Luisa.
Heiko made a drawing on paper as to how the shape should be. Michael drew the inside of how it shall look after they also put foundation into their hole when it was crafted.
Antonio and Camilo went into the rainforest to ask every animal for help and explain the situation. Pepa practiced to manipulate her rain and drag the dirt up, she never did that before and now she is putting a lot of effort on it to master it. Mirabel and Isabella already went away to get wood and lianas to craft ladders. Dolores and Alma started to search the shovels, Julieta and Felix made food and Augustin was getting water for everyone.
Alma and Dolores then set up a big table that was surrounded by umbrellas to shield water and food from the hot sun.
Heiko, William and Michael went under the umbrellas as soon as they were set up and Heiko pulled out his Tablet to design.
“Alright so we are sure that this side is the saferoom ?”, Heiko asked and pointed at the drawing Michael made.
It was big enough for the villagers and animals to fit inside and it was on the right, right next to the planned tunnel to Casita.
“Yes.”, Michael said.
Heiko hummed and got to drawing and designing the room.
“There has to be carpets inside the room for the animals to not freeze and the beds for the villagers have to be warm and cozy. The deeper under the surface the colder it gets.”
With that said Heiko drew his thoughts.
“Then we will need a biiiig fridge and closet for them to have food for hours or even days, we don’t know how long we will fight.”
And Heiko drew them to the far left of the room.
“The walls need to be made out of very indestructible metal, so Leon won’t get in and take them. The ceiling and ground just the same. There will be a little engineer and a separate power generator for their room. Then we will need a few bathrooms and a cabin where they can dress themselves. With curtains, of course, for privacy. We will have to put a big TV in there so they can entertain themselves and we need food for the animals.  Then a few tables and chairs and board games. That should help them.”
Heiko drew everything and then showed them the end result.
Michael and William nodded in approval. Heiko saved his design and then went over to the next. Looking and pointing into the middle of Michaels drawing.
“That is supposed to be our workshop, right ?”
Michael nodded.
Heiko got to designing it.
“After the walls are up and about we will need a big terminal for our blueprints and a lot of other machinery so they can help us with the more heavy parts of the robots. A claw, as an example, will be needed. Then we will need cupboards and drawers for the parts of the robots. We will need an assembly line to transport the robots into the next room when they are finished and ready to go. Vince will make sure to not let anyone enter our terminal. Of course we can’t forget about lights and the power generator.”
With that soon Heiko was done designing and showed them his end result.
They nodded in approval. It was perfect.
“And the last one doesn’t need anything. They will rise from the ground unannounced. No need to make it stable. There will be doors that will be made out of the same metal as the walls, grounds and ceilings. Everything will be fine.”, Heiko told them.
“Alright.”, Michael replied and William nodded.
With that they leaned back and watched Bruno and Luisa work together and making lines, to mark the space that was described, with sand.
William then talked in a coded language.
Tumblr media
“I will see. Maybe it will work.”
“That’s the spirit !”
They continued to watch them. After 2 hours Bruno finished and told Luisa to take a break for a little bit, which she gladly did. Bruno went over to Heiko, William and Michael and took a bottle then gulped it all down in one go.
Then he sat down and wiped the sweat off of his face.
“I think in 20 minutes we can start digging.”, Bruno told them.
The three of them nodded.
Ten minutes later and Camilo and Antonio came on jaguars’ backs back to the Encanto, after them billions of animals.
Heiko whistled.
“That’s a lot of animals…”, he said in awe.
Then he turned to Bruno.
“Your rats helping too ?”
“Hmm… I think so… I asked them before I left Casita. I don’t know.”, Bruno asked.
“With these animals we will be done even sooner, eh ?”, William asked Heiko.
“I wouldn’t say that this early. I would say maybe. But not surely.”, Heiko said.
William nodded and sighed.
After the rest of the 20 minutes were over, Bruno stood up and then clapped his hands, making his family and the animals quiet down.
“Alright. We will start digging now. The earlier we begin the faster we will be done with more progress. La Familia Madrigal !”
“La Familia Madrigal !”, the rest shouted.
The animals all took a space inside the big rectangle, Bruno made with sand. They took almost all of the space and they were so many that they had barely any space. Just one step to the front and started to dig.
The Madrigals grabbed all shovels and then went to bigger, more open spaces the animals left them, to dig too. Bruno in the meantime made already one little stair of dirt for later so they all can climb out.
Soon enough Bruno’s army of rats came to aid too and even made themselves holes underneath the dirt and made underground tunnels digging deeper already for better and faster progress for later. Other rats stayed with Bruno and digged next to him.
Heiko winced as he saw Bruno’s friends so filthy from dirt. He will definitely have to wash them all later tonight, or they clean themselves which would take hours on their own.
Time skip, 3 hours later…
Shockingly enough they already digged at least 10 feet deep and needed ladders and a tunnel to get back out. After Bruno sat down for a good 10 minutes he announced a break for 1 hour before they continue. Mirabel, Camilo and Dolores were thankful for their Uncle’s 1 hour break.
Isabela only scoffed. The ground started to shake slightly and Bruno knew what Isabela was doing.
“Isa ! Don’t overwork yourself !”, he warned her.
She ignored him and up came a very big and fat leaf with a lot of dirt on top of it.
“And 3 foot deeper.”, she said in triumph.
Bruno massaged the bridge of his nose and sighed. This girl…
Pepa groaned in frustration.
“I can’t manipulate it !”, she yelled.
Heiko chuckled and looked at her.
“You are trying too hard, Pepa. If you are trying too hard, you will trip over your own feet. Just don’t think too much about it and BAM it works. Trust me.”, he told the frustrated woman.
She looked at him in thoughts, nodded and then went to her spot again to practice.
Bruno looked at Heiko, who was already staring at him. Bruno blushed with wide eyes and turned away quickly. Heiko chuckled.
“Soo… You wanna use that hour to show me around the village ? And maybe show me some nice sights in the forest ?”, he asked Bruno innocently.
Bruno groaned and smacked his forehead with his left hand.
“I am so sorry ! I forgot about that ! Sure, c’mon !”, he said and sprung up.
Heiko chuckled again and then went next to Bruno.
‘Don’t have too much fun~’, Vincent teased Heiko in his head.
‘Shut up you damn Parasite.’
‘My feelings !’
‘Weasel.’
‘Fuck you too doggie.’
‘I am a wolf, asshole.’
‘Wolf, dog, same damn shit.’
‘Go fuck Vanny, Vincent. Get kids finally so you learn to lower your swearing and have more brains.’
‘Sh-shut u-up !’
Heiko smirked in small victory as Vincent left his head.
“So what do you wanna see first ?”, Bruno asked.
“Hmm… Your choice.”, Heiko replied.
“How about the market so you know where to go buy stuff that you need ?”, Bruno asked him.
‘We will never go there anyways, but meh…’
“Okay.”
With that Bruno pulled his hood over his head and then went with Heiko into the village and to the very busy market. Some of the villagers forgot all about Bruno and being a bad Omen since the reconstruction of Casita, some tolerated him and others still blamed him for everything that went wrong in their lives.
“So here you get baked goods. Literally anything.  Then we have, next to the bakery, a butcher shop. Next to the Butcher shop is a shop where you can get milk products, like cheese and stuff. On the other side, in front of the bakery, is a Tailor shop. Next to it, in front of the butcher, shop is a Jewelry shop and next to that shop, in front of the milk products shop, is a shoemaker.”, Bruno told Heiko and showed him around.
Heiko looked at the shops and then nodded for Bruno to continue.
Bruno led him to an open space and there were stands.
“This is the main market. Here they sell Vegetables, Fruits, Fish and everything else you need. You need some soap, there you go !”, Bruno told Heiko and pointed at the soap stand that was in the very far back of the market.
“Or you want a lucky charm ? Over there is one that sells that stuff.”
Bruno pointed at to the left behind 3 stands and there it was.
“You don’t wanna go to the butcher to get some sausages ? Well right there is a stand selling sausages !”
Bruno pointed to the right, right next to them.
“You need corn or anything to bake or cook, there are the stands for that.”
And with that he counted everything off of his list and showed Heiko around. To say that Heiko was impressed would have been underestimated. Yes, this village was very old fashioned, but it was also absolutely amazing.
It was so nice and relaxing with Bruno, Heiko was so happy. But that wasn’t for long…
“OI ! ASESINO !(Murderer)”, a woman yelled.
Bruno flinched, while Heiko calmly turned around and looked at her.
She approached in a run with an outraged face, she was a young, dark-skinned woman, who has her black hair tied into braids, put into a ponytail, accompanied with a red headband and had brown eyes. She wore a white and yellow top and a red dress.
“Oh no…”, Bruno mumbled lowly.
“Who is that ?”
As much as Heiko knew he never had anything to do with this female. He would have recognized her. So he assumed that she called Bruno a Murderer…
“That is Señora Pezmuerto… I once told her that her fish would die and since then she called me a fish murderer, because the very next day it was dead. But really…I never needed a vision for that. The bowl was very small for the fish and it was only filled with water. Nothing inside it. She overfed her fish and never exchanged the water in that bowl. It was already swimming on its side when I saw it. But she just doesn’t wanna listen…”, Bruno whispered to Heiko.
Heiko had a grim expression on his face after he heard that and looked at Pezmuerto. Then Heiko snorted loudly. Bruno looked at him confused.
“Doesn’t Pezmuerto mean in Spanish ‘Dead fish’ ?”, Heiko asked.
Bruno gave him a small smile and nodded. Then he flinched, because Heiko burst out laughing and falling onto the floor, rolling around and barking in laughter. As she reached them, Heiko was curled up on the floor, laughing loudly and hitting the pavement roughly with his fist.
Some village people looked at him confused and soon Heiko yelled in laughter.
“Señora DEAD FISH !!! AHAHAHAHAHA !!! NO, NO, NO, NO….AHAHAHAHAHA !!! OH..HAHAHAHA !!!”, Heiko started to wheeze and snicker like a teenager.
Some villagers chuckled too and laughed, now knowing why he laughed.
Soon Heiko came down and then looked at Bruno and then at the woman. As soon as he replayed the name and saw her, he started to howl in laughter again.
“BR-HAHAHAHA-BRUNO !!! KICK MEHEHEHE !!! PLEHEHEHEHESE !!! I’M GONNAHAHAHA ! DIEHEHEHE !!! AHAHAHAHA !!!“
Bruno looked at him for a while, sighed and then kicked his leg. Heiko yelped and was off of the floor in a second. He cleared his throat and looked at Bruno.
“Thanks.”
“No hay problema.(No problem)”
He then looked at Pezmuerto and snorted again, but covered it with a cough.

📂 vi just a really luvs good fuckin’ charcuterie board. sometimes he don’t wanna slave over the stove in the morning. sometimes he just wanna chill on the roof with some wine first thing in the morning and a buncha nibbles…. fruits galore like strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, orange slices, pineapple, grapes. cheeses like brie, triple cream, goat cheese, havarti, burrata….. prosciutto, salami, ham, cured chorizo, capricola, soppressata, summer sausage, etc for meats. dried fruits like apricots, cherries, figs, pineapple, mango. crackers. chocolate. just throw it all on a big ass tray, head up to the roof, and enjoy.
he does it every couple of days out of the week. mostly because he’s so tired when he gets home. like he’ll cook for himself and he’ll order whatever, but a charcuterie board really hits the spot for him. all the variety too! he loves mixing fruits with cheeses and experimenting with different crackers and bread.
📂 he attended midland in california for high school. its a crazy academic boarding school for some of the best of the best but the twist is everyone lives in cabins and they gotta pick their own food and heat their own showers. here’s a blurb:
The School is located on 2,860 acres ( 12 km² ) of largely undeveloped ranchland characteristic of central California’s coastal hill country. Students live in cabins, which are heated by small woodstoves. ( For students’ safety, their cabins have sprinklers. ) Students chop wood to make fires to heat their shower water. Some 25 percent of Midland’s electricity needs are met with grid-tied, student-installed solar arrays. While the library is wired with high-speed internet connections, several campus buildings were constructed decades ago by students and faculty. Cell phones are not allowed on campus.“  Midland School is first and foremost a rigorous college preparatory boarding school. While we value experiential education as an integral part of our approach, we are not a shop school, trade school, or an adventure school. The fundamental rigor of Midland’s curriculum isn’t watered down with trips or projects that don’t put learning at their core.”
Midland’s emphasis on experiential learning extends into our weekend programming. Every Saturday, Midland students have a 3-hour block dedicated to exploring the passions of our community. These workshops broaden the academic horizon by introducing students to activities such as knot-tying mathematics, trail restoration, marine ecosystem exploration, cattle-herding, screen printing, and more. An integral part of Midland’s philosophy is self-reliance, and students and faculty perform much of the work that goes into maintaining the school. All students have daily jobs that help maintain the school – carpenters, cooks, classroom cleaners, plumbers, librarians, etc. In addition to daily jobs, faculty and students gather on Sunday mornings to hear a senior give a talk on a subject of personal interest. The community breaks into small work crews for 2–3 hours. These crews might clean the assembly / dining hall, venture into the hills to gather firewood, harvest vegetables in the garden, brush down the horses or muck the corral.
so overall, he didn’t have a typical high school experience. even for a private school, his experience was incredibly unique. his favorite courses were: cultural anthropology, writing and a sense of place, ecological field research, trail restoration, representational drawing, foundations of visual art, beginning ceramics, english, anime club which he was president of lolll.
ya boy graduated valedictorian in high school.

Benefits of Getting Car Detailing
Improved Appearance
Your car's inside and outside can be improved and made to resemble brand new by detailing. If you're attempting to sell your automobile or want to raise its resale value, this can be extremely helpful.
Enhanced Driving Experience
Driving can be more enjoyable and comfortable with a neat and well-kept cabin. Having fewer distractions while driving might also be beneficial.
Healthier Environment
Dust, allergies, and other contaminants that can assemble over time can be removed from your car's inside by the detailing process. This could promote a better atmosphere for both you and your passengers.
Odour Removal
Unpleasant scents that might be hidden in the carpeting or upholstery of your car can be eliminated by detailing the inside. This is particularly helpful if you smoke or have animals who go with you in the car.
Enhanced Safety
A neat and well-kept car might lessen the likelihood of collisions or injuries while driving. A dirty dashboard or windows, for instance, can obscure your perspective and make it more difficult for you to see while driving.

Construct An Outdoor Feline Kennel & Condo For Your Indoor Cat
The size of the litter box is going to depend on the size of your cat. As your family pet feline grows bigger, so ought to the litter box. The litter box should always be cleaned with soap and water. Never ever use chemicals to clean it. Have toys offered for your felines. I have fulfilled numerous people who insist that his/her feline does not have fun with toys (any toys!) until I pick up an interactive or catnip toy for her satisfaction. Everything You Need To Know About Car Air Conditioning!
Summer arrives, and, boy, will it stay. Traveling without air conditioning will be miserable, whether you're making your daily commute to work or a weekend trip. Your main concern should be examining the condition of your car's air conditioning system because the temperature inside the automobile cabin can reach up to 60°C. Numerous problems may start to appear, including inadequate cooling, odor, broken compressors, and others. Getting a comprehensive car AC service once a year is typically advised to maintain the cooling system's optimal efficiency, even though routine AC maintenance should be a ritual. Here are some aspects you must know about the best car air conditioning Gold Coast services.
Some Common AC Problems Of Your Vehicle With Troubleshooting:
 Car AC Not Cooling Enough:
This may be caused by a failed compressor or low refrigerant levels, which can be quite expensive to repair. Another explanation for this is anything as simple as a clogged condenser. Less cooling occurs if the condenser is clogged since it reduces the coil's surface area.
 Bad Odor From The AC:
There have been numerous reports of this car AC issue. A slight or overtly offensive odor could indicate that the AC filter has mold, mildew, or moisture buildup. Usually, the issue can be resolved by cleaning or replacing the filter.
However, there may be a dead animal in the system or a bug invasion if you smell "rotten eggs" when running the AC. We strongly advise hiring a pro to handle this for you.
 Loud Whirring Noise:
A damaged compressor bearing may provide a loud, high-pitched whirring sound when the air conditioner is running. On the other hand, the blower fan assembly must be repaired or replaced if the noise emanates from inside the cabin.
 Engine Overheating:
The compressor draws power from the engine, like the steering or the pump. The compressor's clutch has the potential to seize, placing an unnecessary load on it. The engine overheats as a result, ultimately.
 Water Seeping Into The Cabin:
The refrigerant condenses as it passes through the evaporator. The result is water. You can see water inside the automobile cabin if the drain tube that sends the water outside becomes blocked.
 AC Maintenance:
Maintaining your vehicle's AC is as easy as maintaining the ac in your home.
 Wiping the vents out.
Clean the condenser
Do not forget to clean the cabin filter.
Keep the different parts of the bonnet in check.
Now, if you cannot find what seems to be the problem with the AC machine, you can hire our affordable Gold Coast Gas & Air Conditioning professionals at the best prices. Please visit us: https://www.gcgasandaircon.com/gold-coast-aircon-re-gas
