Part 14 - Misunderstanding

WARNING!: Swearing, threatening, injury, slapping and insulting. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!

And then the drama started…

“YOU MONSTER !!! YOU KILLED ANOTHER ONE OF MY GOLDFISH !!!”, she screamed at him.

Bruno shrunk into himself.

“I-I d-di-didn’t had a-any Vi-vision…”, Bruno stuttered out.

“MENTIROSO !! (LIAR)“

“Por favor (Please) ! I don’t do visions anymore !”, Bruno said in panic.

“THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD DISAPPEAR AGAIN !! YOUR PRESENCE IS KILLING MY FISH !!”

Heiko was slowly boiling in rage. But he wanted Bruno to deal with his problem. Bruno looked away. That really stung.

No one else was even trying to stand up for him.

“¡ERES UNA MALDICIÓN PARA ESTE PUEBLO!(You are a curse to this village)“

Bruno flinched at that. And Heiko has had enough.

“¡OYE PERRA! (Hey Bitch) ¡Cierra tu maldita trampa! ¡A nadie le importa tu puto pez! (Shut your damn trap! No one cares about your fucking fish!)

The woman turned to Heiko in utter shock and anger.

“KEEP OUT OF IT !”, she yelled.

“Or what ? Tell me you annoying ass, fish smelly Bitch. Or fucking WHAT ?!”, Heiko growled out.

And she had the audacity to hit Heiko. That was it. He laughed darkly.

“Is that all you got, Bitch ? I didn’t even feel that one. Weak, annoying and smelly. Suits you. Damn if anyone married you I feel for them.”, Heiko said darkly.

“SHUT UP !”, she yelled and slapped him harder.

CRACK !

Pezmuerto screamed in pain and held her broken wrist. She stared at Heiko and he gave her a sinister grin.

“Aww~ Did you break your wrist on my jawbone~? Poor fucking you.”, he said bored.

Then he pulled out a knife and held it to her throat. She looked at Heiko scared.

“If you bother Bruno ever again with your stinky, useless fish, then there will be a problem between you and me. GOT IT BITCH ?!”

“Y-y-yes !”

He pulled the knife away and back into his hidden pocket.

“Now fucking scram.”, he growled out.

With that she stood up and ran like the devil was chasing her. Heiko brushed his clothes off of any invisible dirt and then saw some villagers and Bruno stare at him in shock.

“What are you all looking at ? You didn’t help him ! You just enjoyed the show ! What is this for a community ?! Leaving one of themselves be bullied by someone else ?!”

They looked away in guilt, while Bruno still stared at him.

“I only have this knife for cutting wooden figures and self defense. Don’t worry. I would have never killed her. You look like I just killed that Dumbass.”, Heiko huffed out.

Bruno cleared his throat and looked away.

‘Great… I scared him off…’, Heiko sighed in sadness in his head.

Heiko avoided any eye contact, turned around and sighed.

“I will be giving you space… I will go back to Casita and…help Willy with the plans…”, Heiko mumbled out, only for Bruno to hear.

Then he started to leave Bruno at the market.

Bruno felt bad that he left Heiko hanging like this. He wanted to stop him from leaving, but when he turned to look at him and tell him to stop, that they can still continue, Heiko was already gone. He sighed and decided to get some things from the market instead. Heiko will be at the Casita and in safety.

But Heiko never went back to Casita.

Time skip…

It had been 1 hour as Bruno returned and saw William gone from the shadowed place with Michael. He decided to go to their room and ask to see Heiko.

Soon enough he was at the door and knocked softly. Michael soon after opened it and let Bruno in.

“What do you need ?”, he asked him kindly.

“I…need to talk to Heiko. There was a bad misunderstanding at the market. Before I could stop him from leaving he was already gone. He said he will be here and help William with the plans.”, Bruno explained.

Michael was getting worried.

“Bruno…”

Bruno looked at Michael.

“He never came to us. He is not in the workshop with us.”, Michael told him.

His eyes widened.

“But then where did he go ?!”

“I don’t know, but he never came here. He would have been noticed if he would have been back.”

Then William came out of the workshop.

“What is going on here ?”, he asked the two men.

“Heiko is missing.”, Michael told his Father.

William’s eyes widened.

“What happened, Bruno ?”

“Well… Señora Pezmuerto spotted me and yelled at me and told me to disappear and that I was a curse to the town… So then Heiko stood up for me and she broke her wrist by slapping him and then he threatened her with a knife to her throat and told her that if she doesn’t leave me alone they will have problems. Then she ran away. I was a bit shocked and in a stupor. No one ever protected me before for a long time. But I guess he took it as bad that I didn’t react nor looked at him for a bit and then he said he will go back to Casita to help you with the plans and now I find out he never came here !”, Bruno explained rushed.

They stared at him and William sighed.

“He sees you as a very close friend. He only protects those he cares a lot about.”

“Maybe Dolores can hear him ?”

“Papa still has it !”, Bruno whisper – shouted.

“You know about Pedro ?”, Michael asked in shock.

Bruno nodded.

“Well then it is on us to find his sorry ass. He will be somewhere in the forest.”, William huffed.

“Maybe the same place where we tried to build our own house ?”, Michael asked his Dad.

‘Vince help us. Heiko is missing.’, William contacted his Brother.

Vincent suddenly entered the room and looked at William.

“He is surrounded by trees and in front of him is a waterfall and he is cutting wood again.”, Vince told him.

“H-how do you know that ?”, Bruno asked.

Vincent looked at him.

“That is my secret. But you should go to him. He only cuts wood when he is sad.”

Bruno nodded and with that dashed out of the room and into the forest. He knew that place too well. Before he went into the walls he went to that place for 15 years.

In 20 minutes he was there and spotted Heiko. He watched him for a little while as he cut his wood. Bruno didn’t know how to approach him. After a few seconds he took a fist of salt and threw it over his shoulder, then crossed his fingers, held his breath and went over to Heiko. He let the air out and dropped his crossed fingers as he was only 2 steps away from him.

He silently sat next to Heiko and watched him cut the wood and shape it into something.

“Hey…”, he whispered to him.

Heiko didn’t reply, only had a sadder look on his face as he continued.

“William and the rest were worried. I wasn’t scared, if you are sad because of that. I was just stupefied that you defended me. It…never really happened before…”

Heiko stopped carving the wooden piece he had and looked at Bruno carefully.

“I scared you off…”, Heiko mumbled and then continued to carve.

“You didn’t ! I swear.”

“Pinky promise ?”, he asked.

“Pinky promise.”, Bruno replied in an instant.

Heiko continued to carve and smiled. Soon he was finished, but Bruno couldn’t see what he made. Instead Heiko turned to his left and grabbed something. When he turned around, Bruno had sight of it, his jaw dropped open in awe.

Heiko held a, out of wood carved, rat. He held it out the Bruno and he carefully took it. It was so detailed. The fur looked so real and everything else too. If it would be painted in colors then it would have looked so real.

“I made it for you. Because you love rats…”, Heiko said softly.

Bruno blushed and then smiled.

“Thank you… I love it. If you keep this up I may ask you to be mi novio. (my boyfriend)”, Bruno slightly joked.

Heiko chuckled softly.

‘That is what I want, stupid pretty boy.’, was all he thought.

Heiko looked at Bruno for a long while and Bruno did the same. They didn’t even notice that they leaned in for a kiss. Before either of them noticed, their lips were on one another’s.

Bruno wrapped his arms around Heiko’s neck and Heiko put his hands around Bruno’s waist, pulling him closer. The kiss was slow, careful and sweet. Sadly that was all they got for today…

‘Heiko ? Heiko you good ?’, Vincent called out in his head.

Heiko slowly pulled away and Bruno panted softly, blushing a deep shade of red. He then stared at Heiko in horror and looked away, clearing his throat.

‘You just ruined the mood…’

‘What did you two do ?’

‘Share a kiss, now Bruno looks ashamed… Thanks…’

‘Oh shit. I am so sorry !’

‘It’s fine…’

Heiko sighed and got up.

“Welp, I guess we better go back. We still have a lot of work to do and William will kick my ass later too.”, he told Bruno and held his hand out for him to take.

Bruno got up not seeing the hand of Heiko.

“Yep ! I mean yes we should !”, he quickly said and stormed in front of Heiko away.

Heiko sighed in sadness. So much progress and now it was gone again. Bruno heard the sad sigh and frowned. Why was he sad ?

Bruno looked back to Heiko and saw his face crumbled in sadness. What did Bruno do ? Did he mess up ?

Then a rat left his ruana and ran over to Heiko, climbing him and squeaking at him softly.

Heiko took it into his hand and petted it. Then he whispered to it and Bruno couldn’t hear a thing. So he continued walking instead.

“Hey little guy… Seems like your Dad doesn’t like me the way I do. Sad, but I guess that’s fair.”, he quietly whispered to the rat.

It squeaked in confusion.

Heiko chuckled.

“I like like your Dad. Bruno, you know ? Fuck I love him… But I guess he doesn’t.”

The rat squeaked again and then nipped his finger softly, before rubbing its little head on it. Like it wanted to comfort him and tell him that it will take care of everything for him. To not worry too much.

Heiko smiled softly and petted it softly until they returned to Casita. Some animals and Madrigals already digged again and others still took a break. The rat nipped at Heiko’s finger softly one last time with a rub of its head on his hand and then scurried off.

Bruno was already heading to help the rest with the digging again, so Heiko had no chance to ask him what the rat’s name was. He sighed again in disappointment and went inside Casita and into their room.

William squeezed him tightly.

“Where the hell have you been ?! Are you okay ?! Did anything go off ?! Are you hurt ?!”

“I’m…fine.”

Vincent then came over with Michael and they both said at the same time…

“Liar.”

William looked at Heiko with worry.

“What happened ?”

“Well…I kissed Bruno…”

“That is great !”, Michael said.

“Yeah ! Finally you have a Lover with no ill intentions !”, William agreed.

“I think he doesn’t like me the way I do…”, Heiko mumbled.

All three stared at him.

“Why ?”, Ennard asked from within Michael.

Heiko rubbed his arm softly and looked at the floor.

“Well…he looked ashamed and horrified when we broke apart and then he didn’t talk to me at all and he wasn’t looking at me either. He even ran away when I had one of his rats on me. I wanted to know its name and gender, but before I could ask he was too far away already… I think he hates me now…”

The three looked at one another and Vincent went over to Heiko and put a hand on his left shoulder.

“Hey. Maybe he is too shocked. Let him work it out in his brain. It’ll be fine.”

Heiko didn’t look at them still. They know that he was very sad.

“I’ll be in my bedroom and…plan the designs of the animatronics… With everything else. I will come to you when I have some sketches done.”, Heiko said quietly.

“Don’t you wanna work with us and not alone ?”, Ennard asked worried.

“No…I’ll be fine. I need some peace and quiet. Thanks Ennard.”

With that Heiko disappeared in his bedroom. But they all knew that he won’t do any plans or sketches. He will probably sleep for hours or even power himself off for days.

Part 13 - Start of work

WARNING!: Swearing and insulting. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!

(I had to add a picture or else something wouldn't have been shown.)

Bruno was counting his steps as he marked with his sand the shape of the underground facility. Luisa followed him with the big heavy pot she found, to help him. Heiko was already planning with William about designs, weapons and upgrades, while they watched Bruno and Luisa.

Heiko made a drawing on paper as to how the shape should be. Michael drew the inside of how it shall look after they also put foundation into their hole when it was crafted.

Antonio and Camilo went into the rainforest to ask every animal for help and explain the situation. Pepa practiced to manipulate her rain and drag the dirt up, she never did that before and now she is putting a lot of effort on it to master it. Mirabel and Isabella already went away to get wood and lianas to craft ladders. Dolores and Alma started to search the shovels, Julieta and Felix made food and Augustin was getting water for everyone.

Alma and Dolores then set up a big table that was surrounded by umbrellas to shield water and food from the hot sun.

Heiko, William and Michael went under the umbrellas as soon as they were set up and Heiko pulled out his Tablet to design.

“Alright so we are sure that this side is the saferoom ?”, Heiko asked and pointed at the drawing Michael made.

It was big enough for the villagers and animals to fit inside and it was on the right, right next to the planned tunnel to Casita.

“Yes.”, Michael said.

Heiko hummed and got to drawing and designing the room.

“There has to be carpets inside the room for the animals to not freeze and the beds for the villagers have to be warm and cozy. The deeper under the surface the colder it gets.”

With that said Heiko drew his thoughts.

“Then we will need a biiiig fridge and closet for them to have food for hours or even days, we don’t know how long we will fight.”

And Heiko drew them to the far left of the room.

“The walls need to be made out of very indestructible metal, so Leon won’t get in and take them. The ceiling and ground just the same. There will be a little engineer and a separate power generator for their room. Then we will need a few bathrooms and a cabin where they can dress themselves. With curtains, of course, for privacy. We will have to put a big TV in there so they can entertain themselves and we need food for the animals. Then a few tables and chairs and board games. That should help them.”

Heiko drew everything and then showed them the end result.

Michael and William nodded in approval. Heiko saved his design and then went over to the next. Looking and pointing into the middle of Michaels drawing.

“That is supposed to be our workshop, right ?”

Michael nodded.

Heiko got to designing it.

“After the walls are up and about we will need a big terminal for our blueprints and a lot of other machinery so they can help us with the more heavy parts of the robots. A claw, as an example, will be needed. Then we will need cupboards and drawers for the parts of the robots. We will need an assembly line to transport the robots into the next room when they are finished and ready to go. Vince will make sure to not let anyone enter our terminal. Of course we can’t forget about lights and the power generator.”

With that soon Heiko was done designing and showed them his end result.

They nodded in approval. It was perfect.

“And the last one doesn’t need anything. They will rise from the ground unannounced. No need to make it stable. There will be doors that will be made out of the same metal as the walls, grounds and ceilings. Everything will be fine.”, Heiko told them.

“Alright.”, Michael replied and William nodded.

With that they leaned back and watched Bruno and Luisa work together and making lines, to mark the space that was described, with sand.

William then talked in a coded language.

“I will see. Maybe it will work.”

“That’s the spirit !”

They continued to watch them. After 2 hours Bruno finished and told Luisa to take a break for a little bit, which she gladly did. Bruno went over to Heiko, William and Michael and took a bottle then gulped it all down in one go.

Then he sat down and wiped the sweat off of his face.

“I think in 20 minutes we can start digging.”, Bruno told them.

The three of them nodded.

Ten minutes later and Camilo and Antonio came on jaguars’ backs back to the Encanto, after them billions of animals.

Heiko whistled.

“That’s a lot of animals…”, he said in awe.

Then he turned to Bruno.

“Your rats helping too ?”

“Hmm… I think so… I asked them before I left Casita. I don’t know.”, Bruno asked.

“With these animals we will be done even sooner, eh ?”, William asked Heiko.

“I wouldn’t say that this early. I would say maybe. But not surely.”, Heiko said.

William nodded and sighed.

After the rest of the 20 minutes were over, Bruno stood up and then clapped his hands, making his family and the animals quiet down.

“Alright. We will start digging now. The earlier we begin the faster we will be done with more progress. La Familia Madrigal !”

“La Familia Madrigal !”, the rest shouted.

The animals all took a space inside the big rectangle, Bruno made with sand. They took almost all of the space and they were so many that they had barely any space. Just one step to the front and started to dig.

The Madrigals grabbed all shovels and then went to bigger, more open spaces the animals left them, to dig too. Bruno in the meantime made already one little stair of dirt for later so they all can climb out.

Soon enough Bruno’s army of rats came to aid too and even made themselves holes underneath the dirt and made underground tunnels digging deeper already for better and faster progress for later. Other rats stayed with Bruno and digged next to him.

Heiko winced as he saw Bruno’s friends so filthy from dirt. He will definitely have to wash them all later tonight, or they clean themselves which would take hours on their own.

Time skip, 3 hours later…

Shockingly enough they already digged at least 10 feet deep and needed ladders and a tunnel to get back out. After Bruno sat down for a good 10 minutes he announced a break for 1 hour before they continue. Mirabel, Camilo and Dolores were thankful for their Uncle’s 1 hour break.

Isabela only scoffed. The ground started to shake slightly and Bruno knew what Isabela was doing.

“Isa ! Don’t overwork yourself !”, he warned her.

She ignored him and up came a very big and fat leaf with a lot of dirt on top of it.

“And 3 foot deeper.”, she said in triumph.

Bruno massaged the bridge of his nose and sighed. This girl…

Pepa groaned in frustration.

“I can’t manipulate it !”, she yelled.

Heiko chuckled and looked at her.

“You are trying too hard, Pepa. If you are trying too hard, you will trip over your own feet. Just don’t think too much about it and BAM it works. Trust me.”, he told the frustrated woman.

She looked at him in thoughts, nodded and then went to her spot again to practice.

Bruno looked at Heiko, who was already staring at him. Bruno blushed with wide eyes and turned away quickly. Heiko chuckled.

“Soo… You wanna use that hour to show me around the village ? And maybe show me some nice sights in the forest ?”, he asked Bruno innocently.

Bruno groaned and smacked his forehead with his left hand.

“I am so sorry ! I forgot about that ! Sure, c’mon !”, he said and sprung up.

Heiko chuckled again and then went next to Bruno.

‘Don’t have too much fun~’, Vincent teased Heiko in his head.

‘Shut up you damn Parasite.’

‘My feelings !’

‘Weasel.’

‘Fuck you too doggie.’

‘I am a wolf, asshole.’

‘Wolf, dog, same damn shit.’

‘Go fuck Vanny, Vincent. Get kids finally so you learn to lower your swearing and have more brains.’

‘Sh-shut u-up !’

Heiko smirked in small victory as Vincent left his head.

“So what do you wanna see first ?”, Bruno asked.

“Hmm… Your choice.”, Heiko replied.

“How about the market so you know where to go buy stuff that you need ?”, Bruno asked him.

‘We will never go there anyways, but meh…’

“Okay.”

With that Bruno pulled his hood over his head and then went with Heiko into the village and to the very busy market. Some of the villagers forgot all about Bruno and being a bad Omen since the reconstruction of Casita, some tolerated him and others still blamed him for everything that went wrong in their lives.

“So here you get baked goods. Literally anything. Then we have, next to the bakery, a butcher shop. Next to the Butcher shop is a shop where you can get milk products, like cheese and stuff. On the other side, in front of the bakery, is a Tailor shop. Next to it, in front of the butcher, shop is a Jewelry shop and next to that shop, in front of the milk products shop, is a shoemaker.”, Bruno told Heiko and showed him around.

Heiko looked at the shops and then nodded for Bruno to continue.

Bruno led him to an open space and there were stands.

“This is the main market. Here they sell Vegetables, Fruits, Fish and everything else you need. You need some soap, there you go !”, Bruno told Heiko and pointed at the soap stand that was in the very far back of the market.

“Or you want a lucky charm ? Over there is one that sells that stuff.”

Bruno pointed at to the left behind 3 stands and there it was.

“You don’t wanna go to the butcher to get some sausages ? Well right there is a stand selling sausages !”

Bruno pointed to the right, right next to them.

“You need corn or anything to bake or cook, there are the stands for that.”

And with that he counted everything off of his list and showed Heiko around. To say that Heiko was impressed would have been underestimated. Yes, this village was very old fashioned, but it was also absolutely amazing.

It was so nice and relaxing with Bruno, Heiko was so happy. But that wasn’t for long…

“OI ! ASESINO !(Murderer)”, a woman yelled.

Bruno flinched, while Heiko calmly turned around and looked at her.

She approached in a run with an outraged face, she was a young, dark-skinned woman, who has her black hair tied into braids, put into a ponytail, accompanied with a red headband and had brown eyes. She wore a white and yellow top and a red dress.

“Oh no…”, Bruno mumbled lowly.

“Who is that ?”

As much as Heiko knew he never had anything to do with this female. He would have recognized her. So he assumed that she called Bruno a Murderer…

“That is Señora Pezmuerto… I once told her that her fish would die and since then she called me a fish murderer, because the very next day it was dead. But really…I never needed a vision for that. The bowl was very small for the fish and it was only filled with water. Nothing inside it. She overfed her fish and never exchanged the water in that bowl. It was already swimming on its side when I saw it. But she just doesn’t wanna listen…”, Bruno whispered to Heiko.

Heiko had a grim expression on his face after he heard that and looked at Pezmuerto. Then Heiko snorted loudly. Bruno looked at him confused.

“Doesn’t Pezmuerto mean in Spanish ‘Dead fish’ ?”, Heiko asked.

Bruno gave him a small smile and nodded. Then he flinched, because Heiko burst out laughing and falling onto the floor, rolling around and barking in laughter. As she reached them, Heiko was curled up on the floor, laughing loudly and hitting the pavement roughly with his fist.

Some village people looked at him confused and soon Heiko yelled in laughter.

“Señora DEAD FISH !!! AHAHAHAHAHA !!! NO, NO, NO, NO….AHAHAHAHAHA !!! OH..HAHAHAHA !!!”, Heiko started to wheeze and snicker like a teenager.

Some villagers chuckled too and laughed, now knowing why he laughed.

Soon Heiko came down and then looked at Bruno and then at the woman. As soon as he replayed the name and saw her, he started to howl in laughter again.

“BR-HAHAHAHA-BRUNO !!! KICK MEHEHEHE !!! PLEHEHEHEHESE !!! I’M GONNAHAHAHA ! DIEHEHEHE !!! AHAHAHAHA !!!“

Bruno looked at him for a while, sighed and then kicked his leg. Heiko yelped and was off of the floor in a second. He cleared his throat and looked at Bruno.

“Thanks.”

“No hay problema.(No problem)”

He then looked at Pezmuerto and snorted again, but covered it with a cough.
