Yep. We need someone to speak on the record about what's really happening with these announcements about four new infill MARTA stations and a new BRT line on North Avenue to the Bowen Homes redevelopment.
We went from the austerity of "we need to trim down the MARTA project list because we can't afford all this" & "the Campbellton Road project is now BRT because we can't afford rail" to the surprise of "we're massively expanding capital projects with new stations and BRT" in just a couple of years.
How? MARTA and the City of Atlanta owe us some real numbers, please. Otherwise the entire More MARTA tax and the recent austerity are really confusing.
Obviously, all of these recently-announced projects would be wonderful to have. I'm not arguing about that. I love 'em.
But Atlanta has a history of announcing things that don't happen (the massive redevelopment of Underground Atlanta that didn't materialize, for instance) or things that end up being surprisingly costly to the public (the Mercedes-Benz pedestrian bridge). It erodes the public trust.
I want transparency about this new situation so that we're better informed about decisions that are obviously being made behind closed doors that are affecting us all.

Oh you live in Canada? Name 5 of their best cities
1. Montreal is so gay that I've gotten catcalled by LESBIANS. Queerest place I've ever even heard of. Easy W.
2. Charlottetown in PEI is really nice. Peaceful. Quaint. Food's good.
3. Every girl I've slept with from St. John's has given earthshattering head so it must be fucking fantastic there (but you'd never catch me in Nfld)
4. Here's where I would put a city in BC if the rent wasn't so high that I am repelled like a forcefield any time I get within 100 miles
5. You hear nice things from the girls in Toronto, they seem happy enough
Honorary mention: I had a really weird threesome when I drove through Campbellton, NB once ig but fuck that province

This tweet from three years ago speaks to how crucial it is for the City of Atlanta to improve support for transit.
Several times over the years, the streetcar has been suspended during big events in Downtown because of car traffic. That needs to never happen again. It's time to grow up and act like a city.
The mayor's office and MARTA have prioritized the extension of the streetcar from Downtown to the Eastside Beltline. We need to do it right. Start talking *NOW* about the bold ways we're going to give the streetcar priority during big events in Downtown, and de-center car traffic.
And be bold with giving it priority on streets that connect to the Beltline (also do the same with the BRT lines coming to Summerhill, Campbellton, and Clifton). Learn from the mistakes of our recent past and stop wasting the incredible potential for transit to support a more sustainable future, and stop wasting that huge investment in transit too.
Give these transit lines a chance to succeed on the streets, and focus growth of all kinds of urban development in easy walking distance from them.

Evictions cancelled after Campbellton tenants win appeal at tribunal
The tenants living in the northern New Brunswick complex were told last month they had until July 2 to move out, after the building was sold to a new owner. The move left the seven tenants scrambling to find a new place to live in a city with little to no rental housing.

This is the 3900 block of Campbellton Road (west of Greenbriar Mall), where a pedestrian was recently killed. Bus stops are on both sides, but there’s no crosswalk in either direction. This is in city limits but it's a state road. A project to make this stretch of road safer is listed on the Atlanta Department of Transportation website. It began in 2017. It's slated to be complete in 2027. 10 years for a safety fix on 2 miles of road. While people are dying. There's got to be a way to speed this stuff up. We have far too many miles worth of these deadly car-sewer roads in Atlanta for complacency and foot dragging.  How do we get these essential safety fixes sped up? Do we need to hire more staff for our DoT? I don't know what the answer is, but I want us to be asking the questions more often. Media outlets report these pedestrian deaths without questioning the road design and that stinks. I shouldn't have to keep posting these graphics year after year. I should be congratulating local media outlets for drilling our leaders on how conditions will be fixed, and then congratulating leaders for getting it done.

"CANADIAN ARMY AND AIR FORCE MEN KEEP THE BOMBERS ROLLING TO BRITAIN THROUGH GREAT CANADIAN-BUILT LABRADOR BASE," Toronto Star. May 15, 1943. Page 11. ---- On their way to Britain these Flying Fortresses stop off at Goose Bay air base for re-fueling. A constant stream of aircraft roars in and out of the base. One of the largest in the world, the base is a tribute to Canadian technical and engineering genius.
Typical of construction men who have built the great Labrador link on the bomberroute to Britain are Victor Meloche of Hull (left) and Jim Wallace of Montreal. The men topped their Victory Loan quota in the first week.
Fishing for smelts through the ice is a popular Sunday pastime withpersonnel at the base and fliers with an hour or two to spare. Sergt.J. E. Mundee of Sussex, N.B., squats on a log to try his luck.
Capt. N. R. Shultz. Sackville, N.B., former engineer, is among the Canadian army and air force men who garrison the big Labrador base.
Squadron Leader W. F. Napier, R.C.A.F., from Campbellton. N.B., is another of themen who help maintain the constant bomber flow to Britain.
Squadron Leader Powell. of London. Eng., is on duty at the base.He is a veteran of the London blitz and a former fighter pilot.

anyway, it’s so nice that nive did the honor to introduce me sa owner ng magiging apartment ko sa campbellton thru email for the reservation of the apartment. di ko kasi alam paano ako makikipag communicate sa owner at ano sasabihin. but thankful that reservation fee lang muna ang babayaran ko then baka pagdating ko na lang doon ko babayan yung mismong fee ng rent as well as the damage deposit. it’s a 6 month contract daw sabi ni nive so we’ll see what will happen after 6 months.
i’m currently at tim’s tapos di ko man lang na charge yung airpods ko. di tuloy ako makapagplay ng music kasi lowbat. ay nako. tas inorder ko yung ice white mocha nila, di masarap hahaha. i should really stick to spanish latte. my choices 😅
