The Uchiha
Tobirama Senju x Uchiha!Reader
Synopsis: He hated all Uchihas, every last one of them. But you? You were somehow different... And he didn't like that.
Important note: I know the timeline/ages are OFF as Tobirama was 39 when he became Hokage. Let's pretend he was 25 :)
Naruto Masterlist: Here
Also, Tobirama drinks respect women juice. It's canon in this house.
Tumblr media
Madara's huff of annoyance sounded out in the room as you turned down yet another suitor. "Sister, why must you sabotage every proposal that comes your way? I'm trying to help you find a husband-"
"I do not wish to get married yet Madara, I'm only 21" You bit back, arms crossed as you pouted up at him. This whole 'suitor' search had been going on for months now, and you were growing tired of the good-for-nothing men your brother brought your way. "And when do you expect to finally be "ready" for marriage, Y/n... Your time is running out-"
"I'm only 21"
You always hated the idea of marrying young and it was the Uchiha way to be married by the time you turned 22. As the head of the clan, Madara was having a very hard time accepting that you were not willing to follow protocols when he was already struggling to maintain power amongst the members. "Y/n please..."
He sounded so pitiful, so tired... But you were done with this conversation. Standing from your spot on the floor, you brushed off the dirt from your dress and started towards the door "We can talk about this later, I want to go for a walk"
"You can't run from this forever Y/n. You will be married within the next 6 months"
You slammed the sliding door shut, eyes rolling in anger as you took off towards the town. "How could he be so selfish, trying to set me up with men that I clearly have no interest in" you huffed out to yourself quietly as you stormed past members of the clan. Some sent you glares, others averted their gazes knowing that one wrong look would mean certain death from either you or your brother.
Your body relaxed as you entered Konoha's downtown area, the Uchiha section and its demands of you were now far away. The sound of the people bustling around the market filled you with joy. There were many girls that were around your age sitting around outside of a cafe, they seemed to be laughing about some stupid thing that had happened to one of them. It was so simple but it was a reality you yearned for.
Sometimes you hated being a part of the clan. They were just so far behind the times and it felt almost suffocating to exist among their stuffy ideologies.
'You're supposed to get married young and give your husband as many children as he desires.'
'Your place is in the home, where you care for your husband and children.'
'Ambitions? You don't need them! Don't forget, your place is beside your husband and that's that'
God, it made you sick. There was nothing wrong with being a homemaker, but it wasn't for you. You wanted to get out there, work, have dreams, and find love naturally... Not through your brother of all people.
You wanted someone else, someone different. Someone who wasn't in the clan and someone who would challenge you to be something more than just a wife and mother. You wanted-
You halted in your tracks as he crossed in front of you, his Kage cape flapping in the wind behind him making him look bigger than he was. Your mouth dropped a little as you watched them walk away, you hadn't seen either of them since Tobirama became the second Hokage and it felt like today was your lucky day.
"Tobirama! Hashirama!" You called out, hand shooting up as you caught up to them. Hashirama smiled brightly at you, arm opening up urging you to hug him "Y/n! How've you been? How's Madara?"
You slyly shot a glance toward the white-haired man, and you didn't miss the slight annoyance that flashed across his face at your presence. You knew he didn't like your clan. You didn't like your clan either.
"I've been good. Madara's been... Madara" You were trying to sound chipper, but the thought of Madara soured your mood again. Hashirama nodded, he knew you and Madara were on thin ice what with him trying to find you a husband and you NOT going along with it. "Husband search not going well?"
Your face morphed into a scowl and Hashirama kicked himself for even asking when he knew that's what was wrong. Tobirama's eyebrows furrowed together at your change in demeanor, he was used to your ruthless attitude, so this was something he wasn't expecting. You grew embarrassed under Hashirama's pitiful look and Tobiramas inquisitive stare, "If I do marry, it won't be an Uchiha" you muttered quietly before brushing past the two men.
The two brothers stood there in silence as they watched you walk swiftly down the street towards some food stands, "I shouldn't have said anything" Hashirama sighed as he rubbed his face in anguish, "Her brother's going to kill me"
"Why does she not want to marry an Uchiha?" Tobirama breathed out, he didn't know what was getting into him, but it felt like he was seeing you for the first time in his entire life. He had known you for years, ever since you were children. He found you to be quite annoying and lumped you together with the other Uchihas that he hated.
Yet something felt off.
"They treat their women like property. It's mandatory that a woman marries before 22 and has a child before 23. Her place is in the home and they can't do anything without permission from their husbands"
"That's ridiculous. Women have needs and desires as well-"
"Yes I know Tobirama but that's how the clan operates-"
"Well, it's another reason as to why I despise that god-forsaken lineage-"
"If you're so upset with it why not marry her?"
Tobirama slammed his mouth shut at Hashiramas statement. Him? Marry YOU? An UCHIHA of all people?! Hashirama stood his ground though, he wasn't stupid and he saw the looks Tobirama has been sending you for YEARS now. Tobirama could lie all he wanted to, he has always cared for you more than he'd like to admit. Tobirama started to take off back to the Hokage's office, not liking the look Hashirama was giving him "I don't think marriage is a good idea, the clan will disown her if she marries outside of their circle-"
"She hates her clan Tobirama and honestly, I think you're the only person who can make her happy"
Tobirama tripped on his footing trying to stop in disbelief. His eyes were wide and his face was full of disgust at what Hashirama was insinuating. Him? Make you happy? Not possible.
"Uchiha or not, you can't deny that you care for her in some way. I know this because you look at her differently than you look at anyone else. You don't even look at the women you try to court that way-"
"I'm done with this conversation" Tobirama huffed out, his face was burning red and the whiteness of his cloak only made it more noticeable that he was embarrassed. Hashirama opened his mouth to make another statement but Tobirama stormed towards the Hokage's office, leaving him standing there in disbelief.
How could someone so smart, be so clueless.
Tumblr media
* 2 weeks later *
Your feet kicked at the ground as you waited for your turn to talk to the Hokage. Madara was unable to meet with Tobirama to go over the latest requests of the Uchiha clan, so you were left to the task of talking to the stubborn man who always seemed to make your heart race faster than it should.
"Y/n Uchiha? You're free to go in now"
You nodded at the secretary before standing and heading towards the door, heart pounding as your gripped the wooden door. Sliding it open, you popped your head in before letting out a quiet 'hello'. Tobirama's head shot up at the sound of your voice, he was expecting Madara so this was quite the surprise. "Y/n" he greeted firmly, trying very hard to calm his nerves as he took you in.
You were wearing a simple dress, not too fancy but not too casual. It fit you in all of the right ways, you were attractive sure.
But it was your smile that took his breath away. It reached your eyes, making you appear carefree even though he knew you weren't. "So sorry about my brother's absence. He grew ill over the weekend and asked me to step in for this discussion" you explained sheepishly as you navigated your way to one of the chairs across from the desk.
Tobirama didn't say anything but nodded at your apology, he wasn't upset with this change of plans. He was actually happy. After his discussion with his brother, he tried to push you out of his mind, but every time he saw you he was reminded of the feelings he so desperately tried to hide. "What do you want to speak about?" Tobirama started as you sat down in front of him. You looked at him wide-eyed as if he was asking you something foreign, "Oh! Yes, that" you finally stated as you opened up the envelope with the items to discuss.
Your eyes scanned over each bullet, humming to yourself in agreement with the requests on the page, but you grew still at the last bullet point. Tobirama cocked his head as he took in the way your face fell into disbelief and sadness. "Is something the matter?" His voice was clear but muffled at the same time thanks to the growing rage pounding in your ears. "They want your help with finding my suitor..."
His blood ran cold at the words, if they were asking for his help, that meant-
"They want to look outside of the clan" you breathed out, and in a way, you almost sounded relieved. "Is that something you want?" Tobirama's question was met with silence, but it wasn't a no. "I guess you'll need to marry into a higher-ranking family, do you have a preference-"
"Wait wait wait" you started, waving your hands as your cheeks heated up at the idea of marrying someone who wasn't in your inner circle. You didn't know if you were happy about this, you didn't know if this was a better option. Tobirama studied you from across his desk, you were somehow giving off the energy of relief but also anguish, two feelings that never went together.
"What do you want, Y/n?"
His question took you off guard, it wasn't usual for someone to ask you what you wanted. "I... I want to marry someone who will let me be more than just his wife. Someone that will let me be me." You finally breathed out, your nerves beginning to somehow morph into excitement at the idea of getting what you wanted. "So a higher-ranking individual who will let you be you? Is that all you desire?" Tobirama sounded calm, but inside he was kicking himself. He tried to rack his brain for who you could marry, but all he saw was himself.
"Yes. I suppose"
Your answer was quiet and bashful, had you somehow read his mind and saw the very image of you two together? "Do you have a preference to what clan-"
"Um... Maybe a Senju?" It was bold, very bold of you to blurt it out so quickly. It told him that you had pondered the answer to that question for some time now. "Well, you're in luck. The Senju clan isn't as backward as the Uchihas are. You will have no issue finding a husband who will nurture you and your desires" Tobirama was thankful you couldn't see his shaking hands below the desk. He didn't like the idea of you being with someone in the Senju clan, someone who wasn't him.
This felt wrong. He hated your clan so why were you different? Had he always felt this way and hated you to cover it up? He thought back to when you were kids. You were a couple of years younger than him and you were always trying to talk to him even though it was forbidden.
Forbidden.
'The Uchiha clan is evil. I forbid you from talking to them in any way shape or form'
That's what his father always preached, Hashirama never listened but he did. Now he was regretting it.
"How do you feel about me?"
"I'm sorry what?" You sputtered out, eyes wide at how calm he sounded. Tobirama didn't falter, only stared at you as if urging you to answer even if you didn't want to. "I uh. I guess I like you? I don't know I enjoy your company and-"
"I meant marrying me"
Your blood ran cold but not in a bad way. Your face burned and the heat began to travel down your neck and chest. He was what you wanted, what you've always wanted. Ever since you were kids you decided that he was the one you wanted to be with. But he always hated you so you wrote it off as a stupid crush and tried to move on.
The key word was 'tried'.
"I've wanted that for a while yes-"
"Then it's settled. I will send a notice to your brother. I will be taking you to dinner tonight, do you have a restaurant you like- What's wrong?"
Tobirama noticed your eyes widening at his words and he didn't know if it was a good or bad thing. You had just admitted that you wanted to marry him, so why were you looking at him like he had 5 heads? "I just didn't expect this to happen. I thought you hated me to be honest"
He bit his lip, contemplating what to say to reassure you that you were different. He did hate your clan but he didn't hate you. The hatred he felt was because he was infatuated with you. But how could he put that into words? There was no way to reassure you in the way you deserved. Instead, he stood and circled the desk before leaning against it. "Let me take you out. Let me court you... You'll see that the feeling of hatred was one of forbidden desire"
You nodded slowly at his words, still uneasy and unsure.
"Now where do you want to go for dinner?"

Half-Lives: Chapter 2

“You’re kidding, right?”
“Nope!” Best burgers in Gotham!”
Danny suspected his new friend was enjoying the look on his face a little too much. And to be fair, Jason would know better than Danny would. He did live here. He shouldn’t be this skeptical, given his favorite place to eat back home. Tourists in Amity had been a bit put off by a place literally called “The Nasty Burger” but it had been the best spot in town. So this shouldn’t be so weird. But…
“Do they all wear costumes?” “Yup!” Because yeah. The cashier was wearing tights. And a cape. And a rumpled looking domino mask held on with a string. “Which robin is that even supposed to be?” Because Danny wasn’t super familiar with the difference between the local vigilante’s costumes, but this didn't really look like any of the pictures he’d seen.
Jason looked slightly less gleeful at that. “Honestly… not sure.” he was squinting in the window at the register now. “Kinda looks like the first robin, but I think those are supposed to be Red Robin’s bandoliers.” “Why on earth does this city have a Batman themed fast food restaurant?”
“Why on earth not?” Jason shrugged. “Come on, I’m starving.” Danny followed him inside, and then quietly reaffirmed his decision not to look into fast food jobs  when the cashier grimaced, visibly braced himself, and asked if he could take their bat-order in the most horrifyingly cheerful voice he’d ever heard. He frequently talked to dead people who sounded more alive. I’m already dead. Don’t think I could handle being soulless too.
“Hi Benny!” Jason walked up to the counter like he came here daily. Which he might, for all Danny knew. They were only a few blocks from the roof he’d met him on, and he probably lived there. “Rough night?”
“Hi Jason.” The cashier, Benny apparently, looked slightly less strained when he walked over. “Not really. It’s been slower than usual.” “Yeah, it has, hasn’t it?” Jason looked almost put out at that. “The usual?” Benny was already moving to type something in on the register. “Yeah please. What do you want, Danny?” “Erm…” Danny scanned the menu briefly, and ordered the first thing that looked good. Then paused as his stomach complained again, and ordered a second burger and extra fries as well. And maybe also a hand pie.
He started to pull out his wallet, but promptly got distracted by the sight of the fry-cook in the back wearing a Batman costume. Which looked stupid. And so miserably hot. Why? What was even the point? By the time he looked back at the register, Jason had paid for both of their orders while he wasn’t looking. “Hey hey woah, dude, I can pay for mine, you don’t have to get that!” “Nah, I got it.” Which was just, so not ok! Danny had ordered a ton of food, and Jason lived in Crime Alley! He probably wasn’t all that well off, and he definitely shouldn’t be paying for a ravenous half ghost stranger's food! “Hey relax man, I mean it. It’s no big deal.” “No big-? Do you normally feed trespassers you catch on your roof in the middle of the night?” Jason paused for a moment. Then, seeming to make some sort of decision, grinned roguishly at Danny while he grabbed a cup. “Nah, only the cute ones.” And walked away towards the drink fountain while Danny blue-screened. Oh. Oh no. Hot guy flirting. Danny was so screwed.
They filled up their cups at the fountain, (Danny was screaming internally just a little bit) and then Jason went to claim a corner booth to wait for their order. Danny realized that he had been completely distracted from the whole paying the bill thing. He should probably just go with it.
As they sat down, Danny took a moment to really look Jason over in the light of the restaurant. He was, just maybe, not quite as scary as he’d seemed on a dimly lit rooftop. He was still really big though. And looked like he might be able to bench press Danny a guy without straining. He had short black hair with a tuft of white hair in the front that almost looked too bright to be dyed, and really striking blue-green eyes. His clothes were plain, but sturdy looking and well made. His shirt was really tight. He looked great in combat boots.
He also felt like he might, maybe, be ecto-contaminated. It was hard to tell. Whatever it was, it was low enough that Danny hadn’t noticed anything until they’d shaken hands on the roof. Even then, it was hard to get a read on, and nowhere near enough to set off his ghost sense. If he’d met Jason in Amity, he didn’t think he’d have noticed at all. It was odd to find someone like that here though. There was plenty of ambient ectoplasm in the air in Gotham, but he hadn’t noticed any effect on the people who lived with it. Where would the guy even have come into contact with a high enough concentration of the stuff for it to leave a mark? He got broken out of his thoughts when Jason started the conversation up again.
“You must be really new in town if you haven't been to Batburger yet. When’d you move in?” “Ah, just over the weekend. Only got into my apartment Saturday.” “Mm, ok, yeah. You haven't had your’ first rogue attack yet then, huh? Nothing’s happened in weeks.”
“Uh, no. I haven't.” Danny would like to keep it that way, thanks. He’d had more than enough of constant attacks by malevolent entities in High School. He wanted to be able to sleep once in a while. “You been mugged yet?” Danny almost choked on a sip of his drink. “Who just asks that? Casually?” “A Gothamite.” Jason grinned at him from across the table. “Getting robbed or held at gunpoint or taken hostage by whoever broke out of Arkham this week is a right of passage.” Great. He should feel right at home then. “In all seriousness though, have you run into trouble yet? This city’s no joke, even when you know your way around.” Danny glanced down at the table. “I'm fine. I can handle it.” Jason raised an eyebrow at that. “Look, I know, ok? I’m not taking this lightly or being careless. I know I don’t look like it, but I can take care of myself.” He could. Not that he was about to explain the ghost powers to anybody. Gotham was a rough place, but Danny was a tough person. He’d had to be. It wasn’t like he had anywhere else to go anyway. Their order came up, and Danny waved Jason down while he got up to go grab it. He should take the opportunity to change the subject. The fewer questions got asked about where he was from, the better.
The food did actually smell really good. Carrying it back to the table reminded him how hungry he was. He hurriedly sat down, pulled his burger out of its greasy paper wrapping, and tore into it like… well like he hadn’t eaten in almost three days. It was good. Different from anything at the Nasty Burger, but it tasted great! Jason had also started eating, and the table was silent for a few minutes while they worked their way through the first burgers in the stack. _________________________________________ Danny ate like he hadn't seen food in a week. Watching him attack a hamburger like a rabid coyote would have been funny if it hadn’t been mildly concerning. Jason took a moment to think while they both ate, and tried to puzzle out why he felt so… off kilter. He kinda liked Danny. And that was part of the weird stuff. He’d barely even met him. Knew nothing about him. Jason was a crime lord and a vigilante, it paid to be suspicious of strangers. He shouldn’t be this open to liking the guy this soon. But, Danny felt… safe. Soothing almost. The nerves he’d been feeling all day had calmed down a bit.
He had also turned an adorable shade of red when Jason tried flirting. He’d wondered if he’d overstepped for a second, but it hadn't seen like he minded, just like he’d been caught off guard. (He had also definitely been checking Jason out on the way to the table.) Jason had still backed off a bit though. He didn’t want to make him uncomfortable if the attention wasn’t wanted.
His hand still felt cold where he had touched Danny’s skin. It’s still like 80 outside, how the fuck are his hands that cold?  Could he be a meta? Did he have ice powers or something? Jason had no idea, but something about the contact had felt hauntingly familiar. That didn’t mean he wasn’t worried about him. He danced around questions about where he was from in a way Jason had seen from way too many street kids. The possible lack of access to food and the worn-down clothes were also not good signs. Jason couldn’t see any obvious bruises or scrapes, but he thought he might have seen the edge of some scarring peeking out from under his shirt. Danny apparently did have an apartment, but the lack of AC probably meant it probably wasn’t the best place. He hadn’t mentioned anyone else living with him either, and Jason couldn’t tell if that was good or bad.
Danny finally slowed down half way through his second burger, and Jason took the chance to ask another question. “You know anybody in Gotham?” Danny paused, chewing for a moment before swallowing. “No, not really.”
“No relatives or friends? University?” “Uh, no. My family’s still back west. And I’m not here for school.” “Work then?”
Danny chuckled a bit. “I’m actually looking for a job. Haven't been here long enough to get established yet.” Currently unemployed, but not homeless at least.  “How’re you affording the apartment while you look? You got a roommate?”
“Oh, no. I had some savings. It’s enough to pay rent for a few months, I just need to find work ASAP.”
All right, so he did have somewhat of a safety net for the moment. That was good. “What kind of jobs are you looking at?” “Uh, well. I don’t qualify for a whole lot. I was actually going to start with looking into delivery jobs. Just about all the restaurants in my neighborhood do takeout, somebody’s gotta be hiring.” He took another bite. Chewed. “If that doesn’t work, I’ll look for whatever. I haven't actually had a lot of time to think about it yet. You know anything in the area I could look into?” Ah. That, Jason might be able to help with. This was his turf. He knew it inside and out. “Hmm” He took a second to work on his fries while he thought about it. “Yeah I might.” There were a few places nearby that might legitimately be hiring. But there were also a few businesses in the Alley that would hire someone if Red Hood asked. He had used them before to get alley kids and folks down on their luck a job. The small business owners in the area couldn’t always afford to pay the help they needed, so in a few cases Jason had paid the wages himself. The business got new staff, a kid got off the streets, and Jason got to do something useful with Bruce’s money. “I think there’s a few places I know that might have positions open. I’d have to check though.” He took a sip of his drink to wash down the last of his fries, and rummaged around in his pocket for his phone. “What’s your number? I’ll send you some info on places you can check out.” Danny raised an eyebrow. “My number? For job recommendations?” The corner of his mouth tugged up a bit. “No other reason?” “Ha! Well,” Jason smiled back. “There might be another reason.” Danny grinned back, and pulled out his own phone. “Sure, I can do that.”
_________________________________________
It was still hot outside. Danny somehow managed to forget that until he stepped out the door of the restaurant. The un-conditioned air hit his face like he’d been slapped with a warm, damp towel. Why did it have to be so humid? Jason didn’t look particularly thrilled to be back outside either. At least they were both suffering.
Danny felt awkward again. “Hey, thanks for the food man. You really didn’t have to.”
“Again, no problem.” Jason pulled a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and started to light one. “It was nice chatting with somebody.”  He looked over at Danny for a moment. “You gonna be able to get home all right?” “Oh, yeah I should be fine. It’ll take me a bit but I know where I’m going.” He did. He’d looked up where the Batburger was so he could find his way back to the apartment. Jason puffed on his cigarette a bit. He looked concerned again. “How far away are you?” “Ah, a few miles?” “A few miles?” Alarmed now. “I thought you were out for a walk on the roofs!?” “I was?” “You traveled a few miles on the roofs!? What are you, a bat ?!” “Uh..” “Dude. You want a ride home? I’ve got a bike.” “Um, I’ll be fine. It really didn't take all that long to get here.” Jason dragged in a breath around his smoke and grumbled something too low and garbled for Danny to make out. It kinda sounded like he mentioned the bats again though. Let the breath back out. “You sure? I’ve got an extra helmet.” He started walking back down the street towards what Danny assumed was his apartment. “Nah, it’s fine. Really. I can get around. It’s kinda fun actually.” “You sound like my brother.” Jason sighed. “Fine.” He stuffed his phone and the box of cigarettes back in his pocket. “I’ll see if anyone I know is hiring and send you the details.” “That would be great man, thanks.” Danny smiled. “No pressure, I’m sure I can find something.” Danny looked up at the building as they approached it. “Could I use the stairs to get back on your roof again? _________________________________________ “Sure, why not.” Jason glanced over at him as they started climbing. He still wasn’t sure he shouldn’t just be insisting Danny let him drive him home. He kept saying he could take care of himself, but Jason wasn’t so confident. He opened the roof access door for the second time that night, and leaned up against the wall of the stairwell while Danny moved over towards the closest neighboring building. … “Hey, be careful. You’re not as likely to get mugged up here, but you can still run into people you don’t want to mess with.” “Oh, whaaat? But the last scary guy I talked to on a roof bought me dinner!” “You planning on making a habit of talking to scary guys on roofs?” “Nah,” Danny’s smile gained a smug teasing edge, and for a moment his teeth looked way to sharp. “Only the cute ones!”
Jason choked on a lungful of smoke. It only distracted him for a second, but when he looked back up, Danny was gone. Fuck. Really, really have to keep him away from Batman.
_________________________________________ Danny made it back to his apartment quickly and without incident. He probably shouldn't have disappeared like that, but he was still stifling low giggles over the face Jason had made when he'd turned around. It had been worth it. He phased in through his window, landed on his slightly creaky floor. And then stopped. He cursed, and smacked his palm into his face.   He'd forgotten to get a fan.

Imagine Capitano with s/o who is from Mondstadt. Every Windblume, you give him Lamp Grass bc it reminds you of his eyes <3 the only problem is, Capitano has no idea what Windblume even is and it's significance, so he never gave you one in return. You love flowers and you give him some quite often, so he never thought of asking you if there's any reason behind it. But during this year, Capitano is away on the mission, which means you had to send him a letter with the lamp grass. It's only now, after he spent some time with Varka, that he finally realizes what the flower means. When he finally returns, you get to see him with hands full of flowers for all the Windblume festivals he missed <3
IM CARESSING THIS MESSAGE DEARLY.
You always had to meet in private when your lover was able to visit Mondstadt. Your relationship was kept largely a secret, one that both of you agreed would be best. (After all, the first Harbinger waltzing into town so often to see you certainly would garner a lot of unwanted attention.) But you enjoyed it. Going out to meet your forbidden secret lover felt so thrilling, and you loved finally being able to relax in his arms, along with the beautiful scenery of your home country.
The Windblume Festival was something you looked forward to greatly every year. The romantic and sweet atmosphere never failed to lift your spirits, and Capitano always visited around this time of year! And of course, every time you'd gift your love with your favorite flowers, including Lamp Grass. The first time you gave it to him, all you said was to look at the flower while in the dark, and he'd understand why you gifted it. And when he did, he immediately understood. The blue that glowed in the dark was quite similar to the blue that blazed under his helmet. He was fascinated. Nothing like this existed in Snezhnaya. You never really expected to get flowers back, mostly because the mental image of the big bad Capitano holding such delicate plants made you laugh.
The first time you have to spend the Windblume Festival alone was harder than you'd like to admit. But, at least you had the ability to get letters to him. Thankfully, it was easy to slip a letter and your usual bouquet of flowers to a Fatui Agent for Capitano. When it arrives, he feels his heart warm. He's truly sorry for not being there with you, he writes, but he assures you that he'll give you all his attention when he returns. And the flowers are beautiful as always.
He's been spending some time with Varka and other soldiers from Mondstadt, idly wondering if you know any of them. Varka is a strange fellow, but one he respects. During the course of these few days, he's been on the receiving end of a lot of laughter and loud talking. Though, when the subject of the Windblume Festival pops up, Capitano tunes in more.
"Ah, I wonder which flower has been selected as the Windblume this year? And what flowers have Mondstadt been decorated with?"
Mondstadt seemed to love flowers an awful lot. But the term "Windblume" was new to him. "Windblume? Is this some kind of tradition in Mondstadt?" Capitano questioned the knight.
"Oh, are you interested?" the tall man boisterously laughed. "To put it short, it's a festival to appreciate the ones you love. Many Mondstadters gift lovely flowers to someone they love, or at least care for. Cape Oath is an especially popular spot among lovers, haha!"
Quickly the Harbinger connected the thoughts. He always visited you around this time of year. And right now was the Windblume Festival. And you always gifted him flowers. And now that he thought about it, the ones gifted during this time were always lovely wrapped, with a ribbon and all. And he realizes you were expressing your love for him countless times and he didn't even respond to it at all. And now he's thinking about whether he hurt you or not. Did he offend you? How many years have you been waiting for his reply? Are you secretly upset?? Capitano makes up his mind to rectify this grave mistake.
You don't see your lover until many months later, but the heart grows fonder with absence, no? So when you finally saw Capitano, arms holding a bouquet, you knew it was worth the wait.
"I know it's not a Windblume, but, I hope you can accept it."

The Song of Maybe
(By Abbadon, from the Webcomic Kill Six Billion Demons)
Once, Lord Intra came to the Vale of Stalks. It was a broad land with a hardy and beautiful people that wove stems of grass into elaborate mats. There were frequent harvest songs and offerings to the God of Pigs.
Unfortunately, at the time, the people were starving. The land was ruled by Yem Yeddo and his family, who had sucked the life out of it for some time. That was the way of things in those days. Though the soil was quite fertile, Yem Yeddo had surrounded himself with thickset and well-fed men, who lacked in brains but made up for it in muscle and the same kind of canniness found in very smart dogs. These men he used as tax collectors, and he drained the land of every third, fourth, and fifth bale of crop, and sold it for crude coin, feeding the scraps to his thugs.
Lord Intra arrived at the local way house and was served black bread, as was the custom, but skesh was strangely absent, and the bread was thin and mealy. When Intra asked why, he quickly learned of the lands’ plight.
“What of the peregrine lords that tend this place?” He asked.
“They were killed by thirty men, and hung from a tree for seven days,” said the inn proprietor, with a look like a beaten animal.
Intra could not abide this. He called out to Yem Yeddo in the spare and decaying market square, who brought his thirty men.
“Preem Yeddo,” bellowed Intra, “You are a cruel and petty man. How can you scour this land so and not feel for the people that call it their abode?”
Yem Yeddo laughed. “Let them eat the stones, for all I care,” said he.
Intra, who was not one to balk at such matters, picked up a particularly large rock and said, “So it shall be. I shall feed the people with this stone.”
The lord of the vale and his thugs laughed at Intra and his preposterous proclamation. But their mirth was cruel, so they stayed to watch his futile labor.
“I will turn this rock into fire,” said Intra. The men roared with laughter.
“Fool!” they cackled. “The rock shall not become fire, no matter your wish.”
Intra ignored them, turned the rock in his well worn hand, and dug a shallow pit with it, piling the earth carefully at the sides. Then he gathered dry brush and reeds and piled them high in the pit. The sun was hot and bright overhead as he worked, and his traveling clothes were soiled with sweat as he worked. The men bade the villagers of that place gather water for them to drink as they watched Intra’s labors.
From his traveling cloth, Intra produced a sword. The thugs watching him leaned forward at this, but then quickly relaxed. It was a decrepit and battered thing, well used and pitted and chipped.
“I no longer use this to kill men,” said Intra. “But it’s very good for cooking dinner.”
Intra struck the rock against his sword, and a spark flew into the dry brush. Intra fanned it with great care, and soon a roaring fire blazed in the village square.
“Now I will make of this stone Earth and Water both,” said Intra, standing in front of the blaze.
“And air too, I suppose,” jested Yem Yeddo, the richest man in the vale, and all his men laughed.
But Intra did not. He took his proclamation very seriously. At this point, he had been sober for months and had a headache.
Intra took the stone, and his terribly damaged sword, and began to set to work by the side of the fire. Using the edge of the sword, he slowly chipped at the rock, flattening its shape. As the rock was of a reasonably large size, this took quite some time.
Once he was satisfied with his tool, he took off his kafeyen and traveling cape, so he was clad only in his underclothes, then found a good spot in the barren and muddy town square and began to dig.
Even the people in the square who had filtered in to see the Sword Saint and had some hope he might yet prove their savior felt their resolve sag at the sight of his starved body, laboring and sweating as he toiled in the muck and filth. The cruel master of the vale laughed and had a tent set up to shade him as he watched Intra’s struggles. “If you are done with your farce, I will happily geld you and make you my jester, lord Intra,” said he. Intra said nothing, but kept digging, only emerging to feed his fire. As the day dragged on and his fire burned to coals, he had quite a sizable amount of clay, which piece by piece he molded into bricks and let dry by the light of the sun and the heat of the fire.”Behold the earth,” said Intra.
As the sun began to creep lower towards the horizon, his craft quickly became apparent. Exhausted, and muscles quivering, he emerged from his hole and began to stack his bricks into a sturdily made bread oven. Then he asked for a vessel, and went down into his pit, emerging with it filled to the brim with muddy water, as he had dug deep enough to coax it from the dry earth.
“Behold the water,” said Intra, and set it to boil clean over the fire. He began to shovel coals into the oven, to prepare it and set it.
At this sight, more people began to gather at the square. They could sense that something was afoot. Yem Yeddo would have beaten them back into their homes, but he too was transfixed by the strange spectacle that was unfolding.
“Clever,” said Yem Yeddo, with the slightest tinge of anxiety in his voice, as all tyrants are wont to have when confronted with an honest man. “Do you mean to bake bread for the people? That will not work despite your powers of transfiguration, as I have all the grain.” His thugs, like the loyal dogs they were, sensed their master’s discomfort, and gripped the hilts of their weapons.
“I tire of this,” said Yem Yeddo, without realizing the gravity of his own situation. “Break his limbs.”
“Next,” said Intra, “I will turn this rock into air.”
The thirty strong men of Yem Yeddo drew their beating staves and started to approach Intra, slavering and yelping at the thought of snapping his legs like dry twigs and the food they would get as a reward after. Intra was a handsome man who did not have the look of a warrior about him, and the men were very stupid. His eyebrows were thin and delicate, like a woman, and he had lashes like a spider lilly. This made the men laugh uproariously at his effeminate appearance.
Intra, for his part, merely took the rock and raised it high. After all the work he had done with it, it had become quite small, dense, and sharp. Then with a flick of his wrist, he skipped the rock off the air so fast that it cracked like a whip. A sound like thunder rippled across the valley.
Intra was extremely good at skipping rocks, as it had become his famous pastime in his sobriety. He could skip rocks off anything, be it god or man. In this particular case, he skipped the rock off the ribcages of all thirty men in half a second. They blew open like an old basket and the wind whistled merrily through the empty and sputtering spaces where their chests had once been.
‘Behold the air,” said Intra.
Yem Yeddo was astonished, and a great terror overwhelmed him. He was a quick and cowardly man, and fled. The people rejoiced and the granaries were broken open. The bodies of the tyrannical lord’s men were burned without rites and stomped upon. Flour was dragged forth by the sackful, the well Intra dug was quickly filled with fresh water and reinforced with stone, and soon many loaves of bread were emerging, steaming, from his oven. A goat was slaughtered and a great feast was had.
“Thankyou for the hospitality,” said Intra, when the night had grown long. “I will not impose upon you any longer.”
The populace were desperate for him to stay. “Lord Intra,” said they, “Yem Yeddo may yet return, with more men!”
“That is true,” said Intra, “And that I cannot help with you. But remember, men like him have forgotten their mothers. Their feet do not touch the earth, and they grasp at feeble things. They are like a mangy dog fighting over a fetid corpse. They have forgotten that with their brothers, working together, they could bring down a magnificent ox.”
He reached down and picked a goodly sized rock from the floor of the valley.
“This valley is broad and beautiful. It may have one Yem Yeddo, but it contains many more stones.”

DINCEMBER 2022
DIN DJARIN X READER
Din is a mountain, unmoving and cold. He doesn’t know how to soften his edges, but he will try for you.
genre: fluff
word count: 888
a/n: have some more of Din’s perspective! My main project right now is to the bone, but I still will try to get a little something done for this each day. It’s nice to have something fresh to work on
PREVIOUS || SERIES MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Tenderness is something that has never come naturally to Din. It took a long time for him to remember how to show compassion to those outside his covert. Respect was always easy, but true kindness simply for the sake of helping another, for doing what’s right, is something he pushed aside most of his life. He was his tribe’s beroya. There was no room for compassion when so many relied on him to survive.
But now he has the kid to look after. His new role as caregiver has forced him to change, to soften around the edges just a little. His sole responsibility no longer lies in completing the job. He needs to set an example, to be a father.
And then there’s you.
He brought you into his life without realizing just how much you would change everything he knows. He didn’t even realize it was happening until it was too late. You make him want to do better, to make sure those under his care are safe and happy, no matter the cost. But tenderness does not come easily for Din. It takes practice.
The three of you are in the middle of the town, having been invited to join in a night of drinking and dancing beneath a sky of burning stars. It seems your group has been around long enough for locals to realize that you aren’t an actual threat, just a little reclusive.
There isn’t a real reason to celebrate tonight, the festivities don’t coincide with any local or galaxywide holidays. It is merely a way to keep spirits high in a season of frost and darkness. It’s a chance for people to come together as a community.
The snow has been shoveled away from the town square, allowing people to walk and move with ease, no longer afraid of slipping. There is a bonfire raging in the center of it all, the heat radiating far enough to reach the walls of the nearest buildings, sparks billowing up into the sky until it’s unclear what is fire and what are distant suns. Around the fire people are dancing, including you.
When the three of you first arrived, you took Grogu into your arms, spinning and jumping and twirling to music played on instruments both handmade and imported. One moment you were there and the next you were gone, but before Din could panic, you came back around the other side of the fire, lips splitting in a grin, unharmed.
As you came and went, the child laughing in your arms, Din allowed himself to relax, settling into his spot outside the circle. It didn’t take long for you to return to him, the child growing hungry and tired, you slightly mussed and out of breath.
Several carts sit outside the crowd, selling hot food and beverages. The three of you made your way towards them. The child made a mess of his food while you downed several mugs of steaming berry wine. Din kept watch over your group, only chiming in when you asked him a question or the kid tried to eat too much at once.
You laughed as you finished your wine, stating, “It tastes like summer, and burns like it too!”
Then you were off again and Din returned to his spot on the edge of the circle, where he watched you. Even now he watches you, the child tucked safely into the crook of his arm and wrapped beneath his cape for additional warmth.
You move like the flames, and glow just as bright, your joy clear to see. It brings a light to every space you occupy no matter where in the galaxy you may be.
Din doesn’t eat, nor does he drink, not willing to risk being seen while lifting his helmet around anyone. He doesn’t tap his foot to the beat of the music, or join in the laughter. He stands, silver and cold like a mountain, and just as unmoving. That is what he has always been, the thing he knows best. He wishes he could join you, but Din doesn’t dance.
Resin cracks. Sparks and smoke fly, and bring you back to him. You stop for just a moment, panting, and Din tilts his head your way.
Tenderness is something that has never come naturally to Din, it’s a learned thing, something that takes effort. So he makes an effort. He reaches out, takes one of your hands in his own, brushes his gloved thumb over your knuckles just once, and he melts a little. Then, after a moment, he lets you go, unwilling to keep you from your fun.
You return to him, time and time again, and he can’t help himself. He holds on, just a little tighter, a little longer, and each time you laugh, smile up at him, and squeeze his hand gently.
Grogu’s eyelids are drooping, hanging at half mast. He’ll need to go to bed soon. Din tells this to you when you return once more, speaking just loud enough for you to hear him over the noise.
“If you’d like to stay longer, you can,” he offers, but you just shake your head, looping your arms through the one not holding the child and pulling yourself close to his side. Din melts just a little more.

Friday 12th April 2024
Cape Town was in our rear view mirror as we speed away in the direction of the Garden Route which is a well trodden tourist eastbound trail along the southern coastline. We have very much enjoyed our 4 nights here; weather mixed preventing us from climbing Table Mountain, but Robben Island was great and just spending time in and around the city has been most enjoyable. The city has a friendly feel to it and we have been able to relax somewhat in a familiar cosmopolitan place; very different in character to when Martine previously visited in the eighties at a time apartheid was very much still a reality of day to day life. It was only when we set off on the N2 that we were reminded that we are not in England. First up, a farmer was heading his cows along the side of the fast dual carriageway. On leaving Cape Town we were also very aware of the shanty towns of corrugated iron box slums that are home to many people alongside the busy road. It is certainly a country of contrast and extremes which can be a challenge both to our sensitivities and consciences and hard to understand.
Next up half a dozen big hairy monkeys were picking away at something on the grass verge. Mr Avis has very kindly lent us one of his very new VW T-Roc SUV's and I must say that we are fully putting it through its paces. Don't tell anyone, but it has already been tested on 15 miles of unsealed roads! The vibration and dust exercise went especially well. Full marks. We stopped for lunch at Hermanus, about 1.5hrs East of Cape Town by the sea. Well positioned for whale watching at the appropriate time of year. Now is not that time, so this was not high on the agenda. Instead we restocked on rubbery chicken and Tim Tams. Our impressions of the place were that it was clearly a holiday location for locals and very artistic; lots of very nice galleries.
We then had a further hour and a half to go to our current port of call for the next two nights; a harbour town called Struisbaai. The area, surprisingly, has a good reputation for the production of SB! Note to self, must try. By way of an introduction to African wildlife, we were allowed sightings of two ostriches on route.
We are in an extremely comfortable B&B with fantastic views of the surf crashing against the shore of the Indian Ocean. Truth be told, I think our quarters might once have been a garage but you wouldn't know from looking at the finished result. Martine will of course be doing an oil change tomorrow! Apparently Struisbaai is the most southerly point of South Africa. To mark the spot, a most fetching red and white striped lighthouse was erected in 1842 after the loss of some 250 vessels. I'm sure, as the number one tourist attraction, we shall have to investigate much further tomorrow. We are also expecting some more good fine weather to do a bit of walking. 22° today but with a stiff chill southerly breeze.

Fantasy AU (Ralindon)
An au where Raligon is a travelling doctor who stumbled upon a small, peculiar town where people are suspicious of newcomers. However, he still wanted to help the sick and the ones with illnesses, so he chose to stay for a few weeks.
Upon staying there, he observed the large, big tree in the middle of the village. It's surrounded by the village's crops and fields. He also noticed how villagers pay large respect to the said tree. When he asked a child about it, the child gleefully said it was a tree that lights up at night, and it grants wishes on a particular full moon once a year. An adult overheard the conversation and immediately intervened, grabbing the child protectively and glaring at Raligon, she said, "But don't get too many ideas about it. Greedy people who go here to investigate that tree, always ends up dying. There's a monster guarding that tree every night, except for one night. It can grant wishes, but it can also kill unsuspecting travellers and villagers. So don't be stupid." And then the child and the adult left, leaving Raligon a bit confused.
Curious though, Raligon stayed up one night and walked around the village even if he was warned not to. Not that he thinks he can fully defend himself, but because he expects there could be a different side of the story. For what he heard was just from one side, there could be one more than what it seems.
Sitting down under the tree, Raligon enjoyed the gentle, cool breeze, along with the peace that comes along with the night. It wasn't scary, it wasn't lonely. It was the kind of peace he never had with the bustling cities he went to before. It couldn't even be compared to other remote areas he had been to. There was a certain charm to this town. Whatever it was, he was curious about it.
Raligon ended up falling asleep while thinking about everything. He dreamt that he was there in the exact same spot, but seemingly in a different time with how everyone's clothing was presented in the dream. There was someone calling his name. But Raligon couldn't see his face. Only that he knew he had black hair, wore a dark purple cape, and—
He stirred awake, opening his eyes gently and slowly, he saw someone sitting right beside him, but still from a safe distance away. Raligon gasped in surprise, but immediately composed himself. The boy— man? sitting beside him looked extremely similar to someone he just saw, but Raligon forgot his dream almost too quickly.
"Hi! What's your name and what are you doing here?" Raligon smiled at his companion, who didn't even spare him a look. He just sat quietly, looking at the distance.
"Isn't that something I should be asking you?" Came the cold reply of the black-haired boy. It took a moment for Raligon to realize the boy wasn't touching the ground. His heart was racing fast, but he knew he wasn't scared. It was almost too comical at how excited he was to witness something so surreal. It's like he hasn't woken up from his dream.
"Mmm.. but I think there's no harm in asking!" Raligon chiped in, his smile unwavering as he leaned his back towards the tree while he hugged his knees.
The boy finally gazed at him, and Raligon took note of his young and melancholic appearance. The boy didn't say anything, so Raligon stood up, walked towards the boy. Reaching out his hand, Raligon gave the boy another warm smile.
"My name is Raligon Esteria. I'm a doctor who decided to stay here for a while. Nice to meet you!"
There was an unreadable expression from the boy as he continued to just gaze at him. Raligon was about to retract his hand when the boy spoke again. "Haven't those good for nothing villagers said anything about the monster guarding this tree?"
Raligon flinched, wow, this boy has quite a sharp tongue, but it was alright. They were strangers, after all.
Raligon relaxed, he closed his eyes and kept a small smile again, his hand not retracting from the kind gesture at all.
"Well, if you're the monster, I should've been dead now, right?"
There was another round of silence, but this time it felt more unusually comforting than before.
"You're just like that time, too... this is too cruel..." When Raligon heard a faint whisper from the boy, he opened his eyes and he could swear there was a hint of loneliness and longing from the boy's eyes and expression, which disappeared as quickly as it appeared.
The boy took his hand, he felt warm, as opposed to the cold skin that Raligonw as expecting.
"Brandon."
Raligon felt happy to have the boy trust him enough to say his name. "Brandon? That's an great name!"
"Someone...." Brandon paused, looking away and gazing at the moon instead, making Raligon listen intently to his words. "Someone... irreplaceable.. someone important to me gave that name to me..." Brandon then turned towards the tree, looking upward. ".. Under this very tree..."
The breeze blew stronger, the faint swaying of the leaves and rustling of the grass adding to Brandon's melancholic look. Raligon wanted to comfort him in any way, but found that words are the only thing he could give Brandon. And so he said,
"My grandpa used to say that we only give names to people and things we love. I may not know where that important person to you is right now, but I'm sure they loved you enough to let you live with the memory of your bond."
This time, Raligon saw how Brandon's eyes widened, turned glassy for a second, even. But Brandon looked away before Raligon could confirm it. Brandon sighed.
"You're right..." He faced Raligon again, and this time, he was wearing something akin to a smile.
"Thank you."
Raligon blushed, but immediately shook his head and composed himself, "No worries! I didn't do anything but tell what I think! Anyway, it's really getting cold here. Do you want some tea? Or coffee? In my house? I mean.. the inn where I stay.. I have a place... is it called an inn?? It's separated from the main inn but.. ahh.. but it's very small.. " Raligon kept on rambling, at a lost of words from how much his heart was beating.
"You should go back. I'll be here always, anyway." Brandon mentioned, but Raligon shook his head once more, offering a much kinder, calmer smile this time.
"I insist! Even if you are what you say you are, getting a cold isn't good! Okay?"

y’know what i WILL write something quick and small about couples cuddling and i will either write it all in one go or forget about it forever in my drafts!!!
Quiet Night
Multi-ship fluff (Lottaham, Wigglefunny, Snorplo)
The stars shine bright across Snaxburg, sending beams of light down upon the tops of huts, only being shadowed by the large structures themselves. No trees to shadow over the town, only the towering silhouette of the Frosted Peak, which the moon sat across from. As the people in town settled down, and bugsnax around either went away for the night or just started to come out, all became still and silent.
So it is, the fire was soon doused, the grumps around it already partially dozing away. Shelda, in all her years, had gone to bed before the rest, leaving Filbo with Chandlo and Wambus.
“That’s it for tonight, everyone.” Filbo said, grabbing the pail of water he kept nearby. He splashed it purposefully in the direction where Shelda would have sat, not wanting to deal with the consequences of getting either of the other two soaked. “It’s about time for us to be in bed!” He added.
Chandlo yawned, his tusks glinting in the moonlight. “You’re right about that, dawg. Snorpy was in bed a few hours ago.” He stood up tiredly, stepping over the log he was sat on. “See you dawgs in the morning!” He exclaimed, though quietly, and then walked away.
“Hmh. Same goes to Triffy, she was probably off to bed quite a bit ago.” Wambus stood up, putting his hands on his back to crack it and relax after sitting still so long. “Night, Filbo.” With that, he walked away.
“Night~!” The lighter blue grump smiled, putting the pail down. He let out a yawn, then walked in the direction of his own hut, internally wondering which crochet frog he’d sleep with that night.
Wambus stepped into the doorway of his home, leaving his hat on a hook. “Triffy?” He asked quietly, looking at the bed. Triffany was in her usual spot, still as a stick, with her knees tucked up closer to her body. He couldn’t help but notice her in-ordinary expression, one of slight disdain. ‘She’s havin’ another nightmare…’ He thought, walking over.
He quickly found his way on the bed, shuffling up behind her. Gently as to not startle her awake, he put his arms around her, slipping one under her waist and the other over her. He started gently scratching the fluff of her collar, stroking her. “Yer okay, Triffy… Ain’t nothin’ here…”
“..!” He felt her take a sharp breath and jolt a little, before quickly relaxing. “Didn’t notice ya come in…” She said quietly.
“I wouldn’t dream of sleepin’ anywhere else.” He continued petting her fur, which she appreciated. “‘Nother nightmare?” He asked.
She sighed. “It’s that same one all the time recently. I’m starting to wonder if it’s some kinda prophecy…” She let out a small chuckle at the thought.
“Hmh, sure hope it ain’t, if it’s as bad as whatcha always tell me about…” He put his head over her shoulder, leaning closer to her.
“Ah, well, we don’t hafta worry about it now. Let’s just get back to sleep, yeah?” She accepted his closer embrace, shutting her eyes again. Wambus purred quietly as she did, slowly coming to stop petting her fluff.
In the house across from theirs, another pair of grumps were getting ready for bed. “You sure you wanna sleep here? It’s a small bed, and I wake up real early…” Gramble asked, sitting on his bed, fiddling with his hat in his hands.
“Gramble dear, we both wake up really early. If anything, it’ll be nice to wake up with you in my arms.” Wiggle looked over at him, digging through her bag. “Ah, here it is!” With that, she pulled out a blanket, one with little pompoms attached.
The rancher chuckled. “Alright, if you say so…” He accepted as she walked over, holding the blanket behind her like a cape. “Wah-!” He jumped when she jumped at him, grabbing him with the blanket and wrapping it around both him and herself. Given his small stature, he was wrapped around almost completely by her and the blanket.
“How’s this for a good position~? You, cradled around me, and this lovely blanket.” She pulled him up, getting his head closer to hers, and putting her arms more properly around him.
He let out a soft chuckle, smiling at her. “It’s perfect, Wiggle..!” He put his arms around her waist, bringing his head closer to the voluminous fluff of her chest.
“I’m glad. I’m hoping my presence will help with your sleep walking, keeping you here in my arms…” Wiggle’s voice trailed off, her curling around him. They felt warm in each other’s fur, like they were meant to be there together.
He purred softly. “I hope so too…” He mumbled out, then shut his eyes.
Once again, their neighbors were heading in for the night, one of them already long asleep.
Chandlo walked upstairs, his posture slack, a rare occurrence. He was immediately greeted by Snorpy’s bed, the inhabitants of which being, of course, asleep. Snorpy always went to bed at eight PM on the dot, no later, no earlier, and he also woke up exactly twelve hours later. Chandlo found the strict schedule impressive.
‘I gotta wonder how you stand to sleep like that…’ He walked up to the bedside and thought. Unlike him, his housemate slept in a very still position, his arms at his sides and his legs aligned with his hips. The green grump always slept entirely sprawled out. ‘Heh… Guess that’s part of the reason we don’t share a bed.’ He could picture himself accidentally throwing himself on top of the other, and he didn’t want to do that.
Aware of how light of a sleeper he was, Chandlo leaned down slowly, putting his hand on the bed frame to steady himself as he placed a small kiss on the other’s forehead. “Mmh… Chandlo..?” It seemed his gentle efforts were not enough, Snorpy’s eyes opening slightly, sounding groggy.
“Didn’t mean to wake you, Snorpdawg. Go back to sleep.” He smiled down at him, a little flustered to have been caught.
“What are you doing up at midnight..?” Somehow, he knew the exact time.
“I was just heading to bed, bro. You know I tend to stay up late.” Chandlo shrugged, glancing away.
“Mh, well, alright…” Snorpy, tired and groggy, didn’t question it further. He returned to his position, noticeably relaxing as he did.
‘He’s so cute…’ The athlete thought, then turned away, walking over to his own bed.
I am going to fall asleep too now goodnight reader

The mesmerising beauty of the landlocked country Malawi in the southeast part of Africa will leave you speechless once you visit. A wide range of agriculturists living here makes this place a heaven for nature lovers. The top natural tourist locations in Malawi by Satguru Travel attract people from all over the world. If you are planning a trip to Africa, add Malawi to your list of places to visit and enjoy the heavenly spectacular views of nature.
Tumblr media
1.Nkhoma Mountain
If you are taking Malawi corporate travel services and planning to hike this mountain, you must be aware of the route to the summit, which is as follows:
You will find mostly flat land during the first part of the track
Once you get past the initial trail, you will come upon a fish pond. You may spot children playing near the place.
When you are done with half the trail, you will find slight difficulty as the slope gets steeper there. You can have a view of the pond and most areas of the land while you are trekking up.
At this point, you will have a spectacular view of the summit. One can relax here as about 75% of the hike is done and you need some rest time before restarting the hike.
You will find a rocky slope near this point which is very difficult to pass. In order to clear this difficult part, you are required to use both hands and legs.
Voila! You have reached the Summit within four hours. The mesmerising view from this spot will surely make you forget the tough part of the hiking journey.
2.Mount Mulanje
Located 65 km east of Blantyre, Mount Mulanje or Mulanje Massif rises sharply from the plains of Chizardzulu and is one of the most preferred places for hiking in Malawi. One can also spend some time in the tea-growing district nearby with the same name, Mulanje. This mountain with an altitude of 3000 m is popularly called “island in the sky” by the locals. You will notice what a suitable name it is when you see the mountain enclosed in a smoke-like haze on a misty day.
Just like Nkhoma Mountain, Massif is popular among adventure lovers for hiking and climbing. The Malawi Mountain Club and Forestry Department maintains several mountain huts scattered around the mountain. Hikers can choose from a large number of trails depending on the length of stay and what summits they want to reach. People who do not want to hike can simply visit the Mulanje Forest Reserve and spend some time exploring the plant and animal species.
3.Lake Malawi National Park
Located at the southern end of Lake Malawi, this place is enlisted in the World Heritage Site and is the world’s first freshwater national park. Lake Malawi National Park includes a land area around the bay and cape together with the Lake and islands offshore. You will see a veritable aquarium of tropical fish offering a colourful kaleidoscopic display.
Lake Malawi National Park holds the record for having thousands of freshwater fish that you will not see anywhere else in the world. One can also hire a boat and feed the fish directly from the hand. You can spot baboons, hyrax, antelope, and large species of birds like cormorants, eagles, and hamerkops away from the lake, in the park.
4.Majete Wildlife Reserve
If you are visiting Malawi, do not forget to put Majete Wildlife Reserve on your list of places to visit. The continuous efforts of professionals in the protection of endangered species make Majate the most popular reserve for wildlife and safaris in Malawi. This place is located in the Lower Shire Valley, South West of Malawi.
In the 1990s, there was heavy eradication of wildlife from this region. A non-profit organization named African Parks Majete (APM) in collaboration with the Malawian government took full responsibility and rehabilitated the reserve. The restoration includes infrastructure development, wildlife stocking, scientific monitoring function, and law enforcement.
5.Dwangwa
The satellite town of Dwangwa is situated on the central shores of Lake Malawi, thirty miles north of Nkhotakota. If you are visiting the lakeshore, make sure you spend some time here apart from fuelling and stocking up. You can find good accommodation facilities in this town and enjoy some lake activities during your stay.
6.Shire River
Visiting the largest river of Malawi must be already on your list of places to visit. Shire river is the only outlet of Lake Malawi that flows directly into Mozambique’s Zambezi river. It begins from Lake Malawi and enters into shallow Lake Malombe after a 19 km (12 miles) journey; after draining Lake Malombe it flows southward towards Liwonde National Park, where you can spot hippopotami in abundance.
7.Kasungu National Park
Located on the border of Zambia and Malawi, Kasunga National Park is full of natural woodland and bush and is spread across 800 sq miles. It was one of the oldest premiere national parks in Malawi. With time, the fame of this place has been overtaken by Majete, Liwonde, and Nyika National Park. Nowadays, most visitors prefer going to Nkhotakoata Wildlife Reserve for safaris that is being managed very well. Check the website for flight booking in Malawi and spend some time in the laps of nature here.
8.Chongoni Rock Art Area
Located at the granite hills northwest of Dedza, in Central Malawi, Chongoni Rock Art Area is full of ancient rock paintings, constituting the densest rock art cluster in central Africa. From the paintings by BaTwa hunter-gatherers to rare farmer rock art, you will find every rare and beautiful painting from the Stone Age here. The symbols in the paintings have firm associations with females and are still culturally relevant to the Chewa community.
Chongoni Rock Art is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that comprises around 127 sites of which some are still active for rituals and ceremonies. The tour packages offered by top corporate travel management companies in Malawi often include a trip to this exotic location. You are less likely to find such an amazing collection of preserved ancient art and Chewa’s cultural history from their early transition as agriculturists to the arrival of colonial Europeans.

Part Four: The Dinner Meeting
***
“I’ll see you Monday.”
Says Orochimaru as he stands in my door frame, tilting his head down to create a towering stance over me.
His pointer finger pokes the base of my neck, gliding up until it’s under my chin, making me look up at him. His thumb grazes the front, right below my lips. I glance at him before turning my head to the side, the intensity of his glare is overwhelming. In such a consuming way.
Out of the corner of my eye I watch as his shadow leans down so he’s next to my face. His fingers still gripping my chin.
“I’m-“
He says.
“Exhilarated. To see you more in action…”
He coos into my ear. I snatch my head away from his grip. I roll my head to the other side, back to looking up at him since he stood himself back up.
“Good night.”
He says smirking. He walks away without another word. I close the door behind him, locking up for the night.
***
“Good evening my Lord.”
Says my lab assistant, and right- hand, Kabuto.
“Evening.”
I say to him, entering my lab.
“Did you have a, pleasant afternoon?”
He asks after hesitation, trying to find the right words.
“Oh yes.”
I answer dully, getting lost in my work.
“My Lord. This came for you.”
Says Kabuto, after a few minutes of silence, handing over a pale envelope.
I don’t bother reading the senders address and name. I slice the top open using my nail, pulling out the invite inside.
“RSVP this for me.”
I say, handing him the letter.
He takes it without commenting. It’s an invitation for a dinner with the Hokage, and other guests. For tomorrow, the night before I’m supposed to begin partnering with Ms. y/n.
***
I received a letter from Naruto the next morning, inviting me to a dinner tonight. I called him, letting him know I’ll be attending.
“See you soon.”
He says before hanging up the phone.
I spend the rest of my day, relaxing and picking out an outfit that’s different from my usual attire. Naruto explained to wear something classy yet casual since the restaurant is deeper in town, and it’s on him.
As the scheduled time approaches, I get ready. My outfit of choice is a black dress. It belonged to my mother, gifting it to me before she passed. The dress itself, sits in the middle of my thighs, a red and white corset belt with tightening straps in the middle, shaping my figure. I wear my everyday garter on my left leg, my Kunai sitting securely in its spot. The dress goes up to my shoulders, where a cape forms, longer in the front than the back, ending behind my knees. My black, open sandals connect with long socks, one coming up over my knee while the one on the leg with my garter sits below my knee.
I arrive at the restaurant right after Naruto and Sasuke. The hostess brings us to a large and private table in the back, 6 chairs waiting for their seaters. I chose the chair at the end of the table. Naruto and Sasuke sit across from each other, taking up the chairs closest to me. After another five minutes, Kakashi, and Gaara arrive. The boys take the empty seats beside the Hokage and Sasuke. The only empty seat left is the one on the other end, opposite me.
“Our last guest should be arriving in a moment.”
I hear Sasuke tell the waiter as he walks over to ask what we’ll take to drink. He stands to the side, waiting for our orders and person.
No more than ten seconds later Orochimaru arrives, sitting down in the seat that gives the most openness to watch me. The waiter asks one by one what everyone will have to drink, giving us a bit to decide on our meals.
After our food has been placed in front of us, we all dive in. Everyone having their own conversations among each other.
“Have you and y/n discussed your methods for tomorrow?”
Asks Gaara, making me look up.
I almost drop my wine glass when I find his golden eyes focusing on me like I’m his meal of choice, and not the meat in front of him.
“Oh yes. We figured it all out last night, over dinner.”
Answers Orochimaru. His gaze never leaving.
“That’s good. I’m planning on watching.”
Kakashi says, speaking up.
“I wouldn’t be a good friend if I didn’t supervise your first day would I?”
Jokes Kakashi, closing his one eye as a muffled laugh comes from behind his mask.
“It’ll be our pleasure to have you Kakashi.”
Speaks Orochimaru, still watching.
By the end of the night, all of us have had a few cups of wine and are feeling a minor buzz as we say our goodbyes and head off in different directions. A few quiet minutes up the trail that leads to my home I’m interrupted by that same silk voice.
“You didn’t think I’d let you walk alone, did you?”
He says. I turn my head to the left, glancing at his torso.
“You don’t think I can handle myself?”
I ask.
“I know you can. You proved that to me yesterday.”
He answers quickly. He must of felt his eagerness with his last reply and spaced out his wording.
“I just don’t know if it differs-when inebriated.”
He says slowly and smugly.
I let him stand there, wearing his smug expression while I coordinate. By the end of his sentence I’ve already managed to disappear up and into a nearby tree. Watching his smirk grow larger.
“Ah.”
He says through a hiss.
“I’ve been proven wrong, yet again.”
He speaks.
I watch as he takes a few steps forward, now standing under the very tree I’m hiding in. I smile down at him as he figures out my location.
***
“You have speed, I’ll give you that.”
I hiss at her.
“But what you don’t have-“
I continue with, taunting her.
“Is smell.”
I conclude, turning my head up at her. My eyes lock with hers from the tree right above me.
My scent is more powerful than most. With my snake like power and form, I can smell my prey up to a mile away. Maybe more, depending on what, or who I’m looking for. Many people wouldn’t be able to smell her perfume from where she is, unless it was strong, which it is not. But, I know others can’t smell her hormones, which is originally what gave her away.
She jumps down, landing on the dirt floor without even the faintest sound of a pebble moving. She looks up at me through her now undone and messy hair. Looking like a feral animal instead of the classy woman I saw moments ago. Something inside of me stirs, something, new…
“I see. That’s your advantage.”
She says. Still staring up at me.
“I look forward to do longer rounds with you once we start demonstrating to the kids.”
I explain to her. This is true. I’m hoping that one day, soon, that we’ll go head to head for a longer amount of time. Get to really witness each other’s power. I’m curious as to what she’d do if she used her Sharingan.
We’re now outside of her home. I watch as she enters, locking the door behind her. As she walked up to her door, mere seconds ago, I heard the way her heart fluttered in her chest at the realization I won’t be near.
What a peculiar reaction…

MLP Campaign Letter #2
From: David Isenberg [email protected]
Subject: Better Broadband for Falmouth #2
Date: April 8, 2024 at 2:47 PM
Falmouth broadband voter, When phrases like "Frustrations climb," and "Experts wrangle," dominate the Falmouth Enterprise stories about Falmouth's network project . . . announcement: "*Earth to Falmouth, we have a problem.*"
Fortunately, a solution is emerging. Over the weekend, four Falmouth citizens - from FalmouthNet and the Falmouth Broadband MLP, and me - sat down to talk it out. The four of us represented opinions from "Let's talk to Boundless" to "Let's look at the options before we leap." Fortunately, we agreed on a plan to clear the air and move ahead!
We agreed that the next step towards a town-wide fiber optic Internet access network should be side-by-side comparison of the top two proposals before the MLP, by Boundless and Bonfire. The Boundless proposal for a privately owned an network is simple and well-known. The Bonfire proposal would, if it goes according to plan, result in a network own the Falmouth Broadband Municipal Light Plant (MLP), that could have a revenue stream growing to $2 million about year 30.
I was grateful to sit down and talk. We all have opinions, assumptions and blind spots. My own blind spot is that I've been seduced by the Boundless proposal's simplicity and immediacy, so much that I've failed to give the more complex, but more public-spirited Bonfire proposal the careful look it deserves. As we discussed the side-by-side study, the knot i stomach relaxed.
FalmouthNet, Inc., the original proponent of Falmouth's network project, has the money to get the side-by-side job done. It's got state money, thanks to Dylan Fernandes, that, "shall be expended for FalmouthNet, Inc. for professional services and research expenses in support of efforts to build a town-wide, community-based fiber-optic network." Falmouth has the ability to approve the side-by-side study immediately. It could engage an expert consultant with a proven track record in community and municipal networking, and we know several. I'm guessing it could be done in a few weeks.
I've been painted as supporting the Boundless proposal hook-line-and-sinker. I do like Boundless a lot because I saw first-hand its parent company, Tilson, do a magnificent job on the high-level design that's the blueprint for Falmouth's network. Also, Boundless has made good presentations to the MLP and the Cape Cod Technology Council. Nevertheless, with all the frustration and wrangling in the air, I'd love to see Boundless make a full-throated public declaration of its long-term commitment to Falmouth, and put the details of its proposal in a formal document.
Whichever proposal wins, a unified town leadership would make for a healthier network. It's well-known that rapid customer acquisition is key to network success. A network that turns cash-positive in year 5 is healthier by millions than a network that turns cash-positive in year 6.
If town leaders are enthusiastic about their network choice, customers will be more willing to sign up. The network become cash-positive sooner. Whether it is a private network or a public-private partnership, if we feel a sense of identification, it'll be a stronger network, with more abilities to serve our town.
Let the side-by-side study begin!
David Isenberg Candidate for Municipal Light Board
