What if Caterkiller was in Sonic Mania?

Some context: after Sonic Mania was first released, numerous unused files were discovered, including the Caterkiller badnik, taken straight from the first Sonic game. Although it doesn’t appear anywhere in Mania, it works as intended when manually added in.

So, I made a small gif of what it could’ve looked like if it made it in.

Dear Diary,

I had a rather interesting experience with one of my badniks, Catakiller Jr.

Catakiller Jr. was one of my new designs for a Badnik that would patrol the lush greenery of Green Hill Zone. He was essentially a miniature version of his father, Caterkiller - but with an engine attached to his head to help him fly around. I thought it was quite clever, but Caterkiller was less than impressed. He thought I was wasting precious resources on frivolous ideas and that Catakiller Jr. would never live up to his potential as a badnik.

To prove his father wrong, Catakiller Jr. went above and beyond his usual duties and captured a pesky blue hedgehog that had been causing trouble in the area. When I heard the news, I was ecstatic! Finally, I had Sonic at my mercy!

But then, to my surprise, Caterkiller arrived on the scene and scolded his son for going against his programming and disobeying orders. Catakiller Jr. was devastated and begged for his father's forgiveness. It was such a ridiculous sight, watching a badnik plead for his father's approval!

In the end, I had to release Sonic, as I couldn't have my badniks turning on each other. But the image of Catakiller Jr. and his disappointed father will forever be etched in my mind. I suppose even badniks have family issues.
