is kit a) expanding her horizons, b) running from her responsibilities, or c) inspired by that fan art of force ghost anakin hugging r2d2 (linked when found) and me thinking ok what if luke is trying to do run-of-the-mill maintenance on artoo but force ghost anakin won’t stop trying to suggest what needs fixing so they’re just bickering back and forth over droid engineering and din walks in to visit his kid and just sees luke arguing with thin air and starts thinking maybe he left grogu in the care of a madman

(so far just 1k, but here’s the first 800)

Din lives his life by one very important creed.

Alright, two very important creeds.

The first is the one that he grew up with, mantra stamped across the back of his eyelids, words imprinted in his brain. The Way of the Mandalore is a way of honor, and it serves as pillar, foundation, and guiding stone of his life.

The second creed Din obeys is not ingrained into his mind by anyone but himself, and he’s fucking shit at following it.

It’s the Do Not Get Involved Unless You’re Dragged Into The Fight Kicking and Screaming creed, and it goes hand in hand with the principles of Do Not Start Fights You Cannot End Within Twenty Seconds and For the Love of the Stars, Djarin, Don’t Go Around Poking Sleeping Krayt Dragons.

Alright. If he’s being honest, this is less of a creed and more of an aspiration, but he tries to abide by its tenets, and, it has to be said, for a good portion of his life, he does. 

And then he finds the kid.

And then the kid becomes his kid, which is an adjustment he’s dragged into kicking and screaming, and it definitely involves a lot of fights that last a whole lot longer than twenty seconds.

And trying to find a Jedi in a galaxy as big and strange as this one? Apparently it involves a lot more sleeping Krayt Dragons than Din’s second creed accounted for.

But finding one—or, one finding them as it may be—well. No creed Din knows prepared him for how it felt to watch his kid be taken away from him. It’d been the optimal future, the end result he’d been gunning for for months: return the kid to his people.

There. Done. Returned. Package received.

Din’s been around long enough that successful bounties and completed contracts don’t tend to fill him with a warm rush of satisfaction anymore.

But this is the first that’s ever left him feeling hollow.

“What’s been eating at you, Mando?” Karga asks. 

Din scowls and resists the urge to shift his weight. “Nothing.”

Karga raises an eyebrow and takes a sip from the cooling purple drink in front of him.

“You wanted the Imp,” Din says when the silence stretches from pointed into weighted. “Here’s the Imp.”

He nudges the head further across the table.

“I wanted the Imp for questioning,” Karga says very slowly. “Ideally with his vocal cords attached.”

Oh. Din glances down at the bloody bag. “Oh.”

He doesn’t try to sound very apologetic, which only seems to make Karga’s exasperation grow.

“So I ask again. What’s eating you, Mando?”

“Right now, bounties with unclear parameters.”

“Right now, you’ve only earned half the bounty, and that’s because I’m a generous man who considers you a friend. Now I can see ourselves coming to agreement on what you’re owed—if you tell me what’s on your mind.”

Behind the safety of his helmet, Din scowls harder. “Friend.”

Greef kicks the chair across from him out and tilts his cup towards it. “Friend.”

Two hours later, Din is thoroughly convinced he used his glowing new Darksaber to sever the wrong person’s head.

Greef hasn’t stopped laughing in the last ten minutes. The man’s red in the face, alternating between pounding his fist on the table and leaning against his new marshal. Dune, for her part, is expressing the highest amount of mirth Din’s ever seen as she hiccups with glee into her third drink. 

He’s really starting to calculate the probability of successfully taking Karga’s coin purse off him now that he’s distracted, when the man finally chokes out whole words.

“Worried the Jedi’s too violent to raise the little green guy!”

Din crosses his arms over his chest.

Dune roars with laughter. 

Din doesn’t think it’s very funny. The Jedi sliced through the ranks of Dark troopers within mere seconds, as if they were no threat at all. It’d been impressive. The man—the Jedi—had been impressive. Din was impressed by his skill when he had the space to feel anything outside the devastation of losing the kid.

But a man that versed in violence doesn’t learn those sorts of skills without being surrounded by death and destruction for years.

And Din just gave his kid over to be raised in that kind of environment? 

Was Grogu even safe? Was he alive? Was the Jedi even lookin—

“The bounty hunter thinks the kid’s new home is too violent,” Karga cackles. “The guy—the guy who just brought me a man’s head in a pouch is worried about the little green guy’s new—-”

Dune snorts out her drink, she’s laughing so hard, and Din stands to leave.

If he knicks Karga’s coin purse on his way out the cantina, then hey.

Well hello and welcome back! :D always good to hear someone returning!

So, it's been a bit quiet. I'm still basically that tiktok meme of "what the fuck is this kid doing?" "THE VOICES" cause I am still so hyper-fixated on Dinluke and overly posting. Others are still providing glorious pieces of art and fanfics (though my reading has gone down...I really need to start reading more and writing less; cause my writing is suffering cause of that) but it's a little calmer now.

Everyone seems to have sort of found their little groups and are in their safe burrows to share their own dinluke loves and thoughts. There is a discord server called @stardads that is amazing (I can be too shy to poke in unless I'm called; but it really is great if you can join!)

I write some dark dinluke content here and there, always wanna warn cause that did cause some issues (not sure where the timeframe is with everything over 2-years, holy crap to think we've existed for so long) but I think was sort of resolved in a sense with everyone finding their friendship groups to chat and enjoy.

16 (i used to have >30 but i orphaned half of them bc i wrote them when i was 14 and nobody needs to see that)

star wars all day babey. i dabbled in steve x bucky from 2017-2018 ish, but star wars has had my brain in a vice grip since 2015 (i was another victim to the sequels causing a sw renaissance).

4.) What are your top five fics by kudos?

the right feeling - from my finnpoe days :') this is part 1 of a soulmate au series. this one has 4.7k words.

i think i was blind before i met you - steve x bucky (damn we're going way back, this is 7 years old) modern au with barista steve and college student disaster bucky. 15k words.

please stay for awhile now - finnpoe, again for the win. this is part 2 of the soulmate au series. 5.6k words.

we should just kiss like real people do - finnpoe. this is the fourth and final part of the soulmate au series. hurt/comfort, recovery, all the good stuff. 8.2k words. (i suppose we all needed the soulmate finnpoe fluff in 2016, judging by these stats).

but through it all, i will need you anyways - current codywan WIP!! fix-it fic with just an insane amount of disgustingly tooth-rotting fluff. no clone death, just good feelings. this has been ENTIRELY self-indulgent and i started it when i got initial codywan brain rot. 64k words and counting!

5.) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

oh my god yes, i love comments and it puts the biggest smile on my face knowing that people took time out of their day to write something nice for my little ramblings :')

6.) What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

jesus, literally none of them. i have to do happy endings, i'm too fragile. closest would be i hate you, fuck you, please never stop looking at me which is wolfwren PWP, except they still kinda hate each other at the end. (this barely counts because i am writing a follow-up that explores more of their feelings for each other and has a happy ending)

7.) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

ALL OF THEM. idk what to tell you. probably the cheesiest ending is the dinluke modern soulmate au i just wrote - how did i ever live without you?

8.) Do you get hate on fics?

no, thank god. i keep things pretty vanilla and i tag very thoroughly to do my best to avoid any hurt feelings. (also i've just simply been lucky to never experience that)

9.) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

oh fuck yeah. 2/3 of my fics are explicit. mostly m/m, one f/f and two m/m/m. we have fun over here.

10.) Do you write cross overs? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

no, this would break my brain. next question.

11.) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

no, unless it has been and they're very good about hiding it (doubt it, tho. i'd be a weird choice to steal from)

this is so hard. . i think codywan has been the one ship that has just slapped my across the face and gave me stockholm syndrome. I think about them.... All the Time. second closest would be finnpoe, judging on how many stories i wrote about them. and they just fit so well together and i adore their characters and they had so much chemistry and. (i'll stop now)

15.) What’s a WIP you’d like to finish, but doubt you ever will?

my brain will simply not allow me to leave a WIP uncompleted. by god, it's going to happen even if i am chaining myself to my laptop and typing through tears.

16.) What are your writing strengths?

i have received many compliments about my dialogue and smut scenes flowing very naturally :) i try to make them play like a movie and have it immersive enough that a character doesn't do/say something unnatural to make the reader stop and say wait what?

16.) What are your writing weaknesses?

oh god, PLOT and ANGST. can't do it for the life of me. i work best in oneshots so i can brain vomit and move on. i have a hard time planning out fics and i deeply envy writers that can create beautiful long fics in a timely fashion. i deeply lack the patience for something like that.

as for angst, yes i can technically do it, but it pains every cell in my body. just let the sad old gay men be happy.

17.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

closest i have ever gotten is mando'a, but it's been very fun to learn!

18.) First fandom you wrote for?

oh boy. one direction (the aforementioned orphaned works).

19.) Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

i am cursed with "i immediately hate everything i write as soon as i release it" syndrome. recently, though, i was particularly proud of safe. warm. mine. because it was very outside of my comfort zone due to the involvement of three people and it was the first a/b/o i have written!

💥 I feel like this is a loaded question considering canon right now lmao

💥 What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?

Oh it is loaded as fuck but I already know the answer and it's the one thing that I think could've changed the entire trajectory of The Mandalorian:

Don't reunite Din and Grogu in Boba Fett's fucking show.

The decision to do so because Disney was such chickenshits and Favs didn't want to ruin the successful formula of the first two seasons did, in my not so humble opinion, so much damage to both Din and Grogu as well as the future of the show.

Boba Fett lost the spotlight to them. We spent 1.5 episodes on them and where the fuck was Boba the entire time? Standing in the background in silence for like 10 seconds in one of those episodes. Personally, if you decide your season/show has less than 12 episodes, you have to make them count. And while I appreciate all the Manda-lore in the 5th episode, it should've been slotted into Season 3 of The Mandalorian where that lore actually fucking mattered.

(don't even get me started on how they handled Cobb Vanth and Cad Bane omigod he truly was the precursor to how they wrote Gideon in Season 3 jfc)

Back when I thought The Mandalorian was Din Djarin, I wanted to see him develop as a character without Grogu. What is he like now that his quest is over and he's lost everything except for this stupid Darksaber? How does he cope without Grogu? How does he grow, or does he devolve without Grogu at his side? Episodes 5 and 6 baffled me but the decision to reunite with Grogu in episode 7 felt so fucking wrong. Can you not trust your characters and your audience, Favreau?

Hearing about Grogu's "arc" in Season 3, he really should not have come back in Boba Fett's fucking show. I think he should've spent more time off-screen or in short scenes with Luke and Artoo on Ossus. It's probably the Dinluker in me but I'd have loved to see Luke try to reach out to Din about Grogu, either about his progress or his desire to return to his father.

The decision to have them reunite in Boba Fett's fucking show so that they'd be together at the start of Season 3 just tells me that Favloni wants to play it super safe by not letting Din and Grogu grow as characters separately and then together as a family unit, and it tells me Disney/Lucasfilm is buckling down on "we want to MCU-fy the 'Mandoverse'" and "money, money, money". I get that they're trying to recoup the cost of buying the franchise and trying to make up for their losses with D+, but like, haven't you already done enough fucking damage with the Sequel Trilogy? Are we really doing this again?

Then again, I got fooled twice so I guess I'm the fool. Thank god that Dinluke remains such an insanely compelling ship. This ship is just so good for my soul, Anon.

I have a prompt. I’ve been reading some dinluke fix’s where Din meets Luke on Tatooine before ANH. And they’re really good. But usually Din is the one that’s up to something. So I was thinking what if Din was on Tatooine and ran into a just-turned-19 year old Luke. Who has managed to get away from the farm and is currently pulling a Skywalker. Din who was there for a brief rest stop gets pulled right into the center of the chaos. Does Luke get the noise fucked out of his head at some point? Donno that’s up to you. I just think it would be funny for the two to get up to some truly memorable chaos and then not meet again until the imperial ship bridge where Din is just like ‘oh fuck’ because he remembers what it’s like to be around Luke Skywalker.

Because I've been seeing some acephobia on my dash lately, I would like to, as someone who read Padawan myself, point out that Obi-Wan is canonically ace in that.

I would love it just as much if he were bi, but there's nothing to support that he is. A male character, Casul, hits on him. Obi-Wan turns Casul down. He expresses confusion regarding his sexuality, saying at first that maybe he wants to kiss everyone but settling afterwards on wanting to kiss no one. This is an extremely common feeling for ace people to have. Because we experience attraction to no one, it's easy to confuse that for attraction to everyone.

Obi-Wan is never shown anywhere to be bi. If you would like to headcanon him as bi, be my guest! But please please please stop erasing the fact that what that passage is really detailing is that he's ace. The asexual community almost never gets good quality representation. This is absolutely massive for us. Please stop misrepresenting that scene as him being bisexual.

I had this genius idea for several moments in this chapter to doodle but I'd been waiting for months to draw one of the first scenes I imagined and plotted when putting together a potential sequel for The Storm. That ate my entire brain and I decided to illustrate just one scene... as multiple "panels". Which I organized into a 3-page "comic" because what the actual fuck. None of these things were part of the plan when I first had the harebrained idea to illustrate my own story, and ye t here I fucking am at 3 in the morning on a Monday, posting a huge-ass illustration for just 1 scene.

I'm gonna go crawl in a ditch, excuse me. Also, chapter 5 of The Suns is now live.

Aw nonnie, thanks for asking! Could've had a less technologically challenging night but that's why you make a little buffer for yourself when starting NaNo - gotta make sure you have enough words to cover your ass for when Life happens or the grind gets you down.

10: Why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?

Oh this is definitely a "whole series" kind of response. You ever experience the kind of restlessness where you're just BURSTING at the seams to do SOMETHING but you can't figure out what any of it is? So you're just stewing in this storm (lol) of energy with nowhere to go and you think you might know why but you're not sure you want to go down that road again but maybe just maybe this could be the start of something new. Anyway I tell everyone that after I finally came down from the absolutely insane high of the Mando Show Season 2 finale, my first coherent thought was, "So Grogu has two dads now?"

I read a few of the early dinluke fics (somehow avoided all of the Early Big Fics because I just wanted a nibble, I wanted to see if I Liked liked this ship and wanted to stick around instead of like... breezing in and out like I did with OFMD) and figured out that oh, I want to write this, I want to write them, they crossed paths because of Grogu and he is the axis of it all, but there is something to a member of the Mandalorian diaspora meeting (one of) the last of the Jedi. Their cultures and heritages are hanging by threads after what the Empire did to them, they are survivors, this is so interesting there is some good fucking Potential here what the fuck.

But The Storm came to me as a real ass Shower Thought. Start where Din gets left off - dude with no ship, no baby, and a laser Excalibur who is desperate for a ship and to get the fuck away from Destiny and also Bo-Katan. Send him back to his old stomping grounds to get a new ride by working with/for Greef and is given a job to bring back a bounty hunter. When Din finally catches up with the bounty hunter, they're on Some Planet with Ruins and Luke is also there minding his own business but collided with Din's business collecting a bounty and the bounty hunter's business doing his own bounty hunting. It was a real straightforward premise and a way for me to kinda dip my toes into dinluke, The Mandalorian, and the much MUCH bigger and older and scarier Star Wars fandom.

This particular ship had potential and I concocted a particular story to test drive the ship, and then I started writing it. This really was supposed to be a kind of a one-off, a "let's see what happens" kind of thing. Same attitude as with the FFXIV fic I was writing at the time. But. You know how people say they never wrote or drew what they've been writing or drawing with dinluke? (Like, the way people started churning out absolutely INSANE quality OFMD art, like a sheer avalanche of joy that seized fandom spaces for a month) I know what they mean. Because this particular ship and this particular story/series was supposed tobe a one-off but now it has my whole soul.

I was always intrigued, enamored with Din Djarin but writing The Storm made me realize I really fucking love this character. The Storm gave me this quiet yet incredibly intense and emotionally charged space to explore Din's mindset after losing his ship, giving up Grogu, and gaining the Darksaber. And here was a Jedi, one of only two Din knows, who helps Din deal with all these fractures in his life and who's struggling on his own to recover and restore everything the Empire destroyed. This was so much more than I bargained for, and when the story was over I wanted more. I wanted them to reunite and for Din to reunite with a Grogu. I wanted to see how Din and Luke's relationship progresses because I never read enough stories that continued a relationship, and I wanted the setting to be the opposite of being trapped inside an ancient temple ruin on a planet with finicky storm systems. So Tatooine it was, where we got to see familiar faces and Din learned more about who Luke is under the Jedi and Rebel hero exterior.

I wanted to tell the same story for Din, for Din to reveal more about himself to Luke, which was how I started writing The Stars. I also wanted to write about his inevitable collision with Bo Katan and other Mandalorians, and the future of their people. I wanted to really get into the idea of "the personal is political", about Din's feelings about the creed and his obligations to his people no matter how much he Does Not Want This, and if he'll ever have a softer landing and ending. I don't know if I can pull it off but good fucking lord, dinluke really made me want to map out and tell this story because they're just so. good. at telling this kind of story. It's insane. I don't get it.

13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?

For the longest time I watched AhnoldT101's Star Wars Galaxy Of Heroes streams and he started playing this song in the background. Everyone noticed because it was so good? It was so catchy? It was the kind of music I craved ever since I watched Tron Legacy? And he finally told everyone what that song was. The song was "Dangerous Dreams" by Lebrock.

And now you know where the name of the series came from.

I listened to this song and a lot of rain/thunderstorm ASMRs while writing The Storm to put myself in the mood. Actually, I listened to "Dangerous Dreams" in a nonstop loop for days, it was so bad.

The playlist I posted for The Suns is the playlist I listened to while writing that fic. When I was done, I arranged the songs in order because I'm Pretentious AF.

I have a writing mix for The Stars that is a lot of synthwave/retrowave, trailer music, and some genres of music that I don't know the name for but have a very epic fantasy feel to them. I'm sure most of the songs will be reused for the official ficmix when I get around to it.

JFC I did not mean to write so much but I sure do appreciate the opportunity to exercise my brain for the inevitable mad NaNo writing sprints.

It’s tough being a normal DinLuke fan these days🥺 Top five tropes/headcanons for the ship?

HELPPP i love that i am the go-to for normal dinluke. it really is so embrassing like i promise i'm normal about it its actually great but people made it fucking weird

learning how to use lightsabers/sparring like. it's so good. luke is brilliant with a lightsaber meanwhile din burned himself on the darksaber. plus lightsabers are just cool

their relationship with grogu. i love when dinluke talks about both din and luke's closeness with grogu and that being the foundation for their relationship. luke and grogu's relationship in my head? impeccable it's about the clan of three

i am always a sucker when luke gets mando armor too. like i know its a common trope but it means the world to me. its about showing love through gifts that protect the ones you love.

them both being starship nerds i need them talking about specs and mods and racing in starships and spending hours working on their ships. they are nerds

ultimately, always, the blending of cultures. both being survivors and learning how to be every facet of themselves, be it jedi, mandalorian, tatooinian, or aq vetinian. the jedi school being built on mandalore, the jedi opening up to a more mandalorian clan structure...it would heal so much, for them and the galaxy
