I definitely think Ryuji is the root of Shishido's archetype but that the closest branch If You Will is RGGO's Kagami. In not just being rugged and charismatic Kansai guys who live to fight and have the scars to show for it and so on, but in specifically being coliseum fighters with heavy involvement in an exclusive Den Of Debauchery (Shishido being an event coordinator at the Castle and Kagami being in charge of Purgatory), and in resenting their patriarchs for their (perceived) cowardice... and y'know... big cat-coded (lion and tiger)... big-ass bright-ass black and yellow coats... lol...

Given Gaiden was originally called 7 Gaiden, I feel like I could reeeasonably say that Kagami was split off into Tendo and Shishido in sort of a similar way as RGGJo was split off into Y7Jo and Aoki, but over a larger period of time. Made me laugh every time Shishido said some shit like 「あの人は関西極道のかがみです」 about Nishitani III like lmao... it may be purely phonetic but it's fun to think that's why Kagami's name is Kagami... because he is the model Kansai yakuza...

Also really funny because of your comic about Ichiban and Arakawa having a heart-to-heart while All That is going on in the background right because of the Kagami+RGGJo substory where Kagami starts shit indiscriminately in the meeting room hoping to test the new Omi captain's strength and then Arakawa shows up and knocks him out with one punch LMAO... Arakawa had to ignore that shit the fight woulda been Jover before it started...

Speaking Of Jo I still enjoy how blatantly RGGJo flirts with Kagami in that substory too... RIP babygirl you would've loved Shishido in the console timeline instead of just thinking of him as some Kansai punk </3

But to rewind, of course, Shishido does have that Aizawa DNA in being the Aizawa to Tsuruno's Morinaga, drawing Kiryu out of hiding with brawn and brains respectively, and in being a relatively straightforward ally Until He Isn't. It's joked about a fair bit that the talk about dreams in the finale absolutely was a nod to Y5, and it was.

That being said, I think Shishido and Tsuruno were more of an apology for how convoluted Aizawa and Morinaga's plots were without really going anywhere. I personally liked Aizawa and Morinaga a lot more when they were played straight, which Tsuruno is this time, and although Shishido isn't, I think he's signiiificantly better-executed than Aizawa.

Iiiiiiiiii do have to admit I have a lot of thoughts about Mine and Shishido as characters, because I think they're both very different people and very, very interesting to compare in terms of their trajectories and execution at the same time. At the very least, I love them--and Jo--for what I feel are incredibly similar reasons that I think go a little deeper than surface-level.

But I'll write in about all that when I have more time to... This Has Gone On Long Enough and also I have sooooooo much from the past week or more to write in about... and stream's soon...

To Be More Accurate yar i agree kagami is a closer comparison to shishido. fair to assert kagami was translated into tendo and shishido knowin em on that note too

What makes this even more pathetic is that Im not even exaggerating, they've gotten so blatantly hypocritical their even trying to use the Minato one-shot as foreshadowing for Bsa, keep in mind these are the same people who claim to want something new and different, are using a one shot set in the past for an OG ship that happened WAY before Bsa even existed all because of the vortex symbolism and the sequel just happened to have the name vortex in it they think its some kind of parallel/foreshadowing for the pair...which is utterly ridiculous but this aint the post for that, but just friendly reminder the Shippuden in the Naruto sequel meant Hurricane chronicles/legends and the Uzumaki clan has always been symbolized with whirlpools/vortex way before Boruto was even thought of, hell their clan symbol is a literal swirl like a vortex...nuff said, this aint the post to delve deeper into that.

Im mentioning this purely to point out the hypocrisy of wanting something 'different' yet using every possible OG thing thats even remotely similar to boost your ship and show how canon it is, yet KawaSara and BoruSumi cant because then its Naruto 2.0.

Their newest thing lately I've been seein the most is that BoruSara is like MinaKushi and NaruHina because Sarada stalks Boruto etc, so I thought I'd bring this reality check back since these same ppl talkin about other shippers just wanting Naruto 2.0 again.

You may have noticed I havent mentioned Ksu at all in this...thats because its a joke atp that I nor anybody besides their shippers take seriously, but if I must address it its literally just poorly done SS and SH with a dash of SK so why would I even bother with such a joke of a ship that exists solely to play keep away for Bsa but not because theres any legitimate basis in canon and thrives purely off headcanon and Hondas rewriting of events that amounted to nothing because, shocker, the manga wasnt building anything between them, so Honda created a completely made up foundation for nothing that they scrapped immediately and never acknowledged it again. So much for 'the anime is the complete version of the manga' yea funny how they backtracked alot of their mistakes when they saw the manga contradicting it, cuz at the end of the day the manga is the MAIN source material, so what happens there is more canon than anything the anime does afterwards.

on your Aitheaca au, when I was writing I was trying to imply that what was stolen was Capsize, but in my want to be vague I know I didn’t do a good job. Like my train of thought was that Ianite was, to a lesser extent, sensing Capsize in a similar vein to how she was sensing ‘Dianite’ when it was actually Tom, if that makes sense. I interpreted this version of Ianite as a goddess who despises not knowing, seeing it as a weakness in herself, so when she senses something that is “hers” but unrecognizable to her, she lies to Flash.

also! thinking about crew dynamics is interesting, cause depending on how you split them up you are almost always stuck with an instigator and an arbiter. The way you’ve split them up rn, Sonja and Tom are instigators (more Tom leaning than anything) and Spark’s the arbiter. Martha’s the arbiter while the other two are instigators. But this fluctuates depending on who’s in the room. Essentially, there’s always going to be a high chance for issues caused inside the group and out.

Listen listen liSTENNNN do not say you didnt do didnt do a good job you did an excellent job, there aint nothin wrong with the choice to be vague with it I just dont catch onto things very well xD I really love that idea a ton, I totes agree that she would be able to pick up on Capsize's Ianitian quintessence (the ownership thing I feel could have ties to Capsize's connection to Ianite in the S1 world leaning on the side of being a messenger rather than the champion kind of cues that Jordan would carry if that makes any sense) and also what ya had mentioned on AO3 too, about Jordan's quintessence having ticks of World Historians in him as well that would obscure things a little makes a ton of sense as well and bangs :D

and yeah!!! Aitheaca Ianite is absolutely someone who is hellbent on being an 'all-knowing' for the sake of ultimate balance, where her logic is that if she can control everything, that's how she can guarantee that chaos or order doesnt have an opportunity to rise up- and is the principle on which her reign was founded on. I can imagine this brings her into conflict with the notion of the Watchers (who inherently possess this ability, while she has to rely on her intuitive judgement and using visual conduits/spies, like taking control of Flash) which is why I could maybe imagine she'd want to keep these kinds of things from Flash. She's very much aware of Merina's presence around her champion, and holds resentment that she can't have Merina as her spy and that under the right theoretical circumstance, could break Flash free of her manipulation at any given moment due to her having a higher form of omnipotence (all this being said, Merina is a lower level watcher and isn't at the level of possessing godly foresight that Ianite seems to think she has) I very much want it to feel like a psychological game that Ianite plays with her subordinates that she would only want Flash to believe and be aware of certain things while lying about things like weakness or potential flaw

And crew dynamics!! yessahh the instigator-arbiter combo was absolutely intentional >:] For the sake of chaos (dianitee moment) but also while it would be so easy to just pair them off in travelling groups as syndisparklez/foxxsize or embersduo/zombiecaptains it makes for more interesting writing for them to be split up with the person they had the rockiest history with + a Ruxomarian who does not want to be stuck there (in some random reality across the multiverse) to begin with. In a way the thought process is the "get along or fucking die" premise especially when they start encountering like Flash but like ya said it really is a lot of infighting xD in the Martha led group the dynamic centers around 3 Ianitees all holding some kind of reasonable resentment towards one another (though they can bond over seein their goddess/mom in such a different light and how thats affecting them; like Martha especially not having seen much of Ia in Ruxomar and while she spent time with S1 Ia, I can imagine how jarring it is to run into a universe where your mom is a corrupt deity) And then the Spark led group is just a mess, because Tom and Sonja are both massive instigators in their own way and while they can get into some absolutely unhinged shenanigans as a duo a rift was absolutely torn between them post-S2/Isles era that they become prone to not be willing to go back on their opinions of something and hear the other out. Spark hasnt spent a lot of time with either of them so its hard to take on anything but a methodology of compromise which neither of them want to really entertain- When the four are together the banter can feel a little friendlier because deep down they do all care for one another, they just have a hard time expressing it

In terms of the other instigator duos with Spark n Martha (speaking of, I have a scene with them two and Sonja, which has been funky to ponder on when they encounter Mianite for the first time) its kinda just chaos. Chaos like when you put two besties together xD

seein as it doesnt specify *tv* shows, that makes this easier for me cus HOOO BOY i dont think i'd know what to do with that. (like i DO watch tv shows too, but my favs are not necessarily that)

so in no particular order here we go!!!

1. Ebon Ward

Honestly, I can't recommend this show enough to people. It's hands down, one of the BEST ttrpg experiences I've ever seen. It's been running for around 7 years now, and seeing the crew grow and develope the show from what was supposed to be a random one shot, into the beautifully crafted, sprawling story that it now is is just an exquisite experience. It's dark and it's silly, the characters are amazing, and I will forever envy Will's storycrafting powers. Good Fuckin Shit.

2. Valor Academy & Valor Punk

Listen, I know this is Technically two shows, but they're the same universe, with 15 years between them, I'm counting them as one and y'all cannae stop me.

Academy is superhero kids in superhero school, which is one of my fav themes all over - combined with them being all balls of trauma in their own ways, good shit.

Punk is superhero kids realising that the law isnt always just, the cops aint always good and right, and are Also all balls of trauma! So lots of fun times all round for both!

These also will Forever hold a special place in my heart, because Academy aired around a REAL low point in my life, and I was adjusting to the fact I was disabled and that this would probably be my life now. And Punk has been airing during me coping with my dad's death. Both provided such an Invaluable support to me, and I'm FOREVER grateful for that.

3. A Series of Unfortunate Events

I've been ENAMOURED with the books since I can honestly remember, and I was FUMING when I went to the cinema to see the movie, and they fuckin Butchered it. I don't think baby me had ever been so angry before, and I don't think I've honestly ever been so mad about an adaptation since. So when netflix announced their version I was both excited and terrified. And I couldn't of been more satisfied with the result. NPH is the PERFECT level of scary and stupid and smart to be Olaf, and you could FEEL the love that went into every inch of the show, and I'll be FOREVER grateful for that.

This is where it starts to get Harder for me, theres a few shows I could consider favs. BUT my brain keeps going back to these two the most out of all of them so I guess I have to go with,

4. The Good Place

Legitimately some of the BEST story telling I've ever seen. I'm not someone whose big on "twist reveals", but somehow they manage to CONSISTENTLY pull of *incredible* twists that never get old no matter how much I rewatch, the characters are beautifully real, and my heart fuckin WRENCHES every time I rewatch the last few episodes.

And FINALLY

5. Red Stitch Report

Listen.... I know three of these are made by SurpriseRoundRPG, but I love them and their content, I can't help it.

I don't know how to sum up how much I adore this show without just Gushing over how fuckin fun every character is - both player and NPC - and GOD do I love getting to vote on one specific characters ability when watching an episode live. It's SUPER fuckin silly, and also dark, and just ahhhh I love it

I feel like theres a Theme of silly and dark in my tastes here lmfao

BUT I FUCKIN STAND BY IT
