Lecture 1: Irving Berlin’s “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” - Columbia recording from June 7, 1911. Composer and lyricist Irving Berlin (born Israel Beilin in the Russian Empire in 1888), along with a handful of other innovative songwriters in the early 20th Century, tapped into the increasingly homogeneous tastes in music, as well as the rampant consumerism, of the period. “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” to many, seemed to symbolize the growing success of Tin Pin Alley. Berlin, a prolific musician who wrote over 1200 songs, would go on to become one of the most successful composers and songwriters in American history. His story, to many, would embody the “Rags to Riches” myth in the United States.

I am literally obsessed with everything you do that involves sifloop you are THE sifloop artist to me
thank you!!! it means a lot to hear that haha
I've been like... near exclusively an OC artist for like 8 years at this point so every time i post fanart and ESPECIALLY ship art i feel like i have to fight every screaming cell in my body to post it because i feel like... RUDE? for projecting my own thoughts onto another creator's characters LMAO... so it's reassuring to know people actually like what i'm contributing!!
Tumblr media
as for sifloop as a ship. i really should draw more isiloops because . rotates all three of them in my mind. but yeah. I think the thing I like most about the dynamic really is the like... way Siffrin and Loop canonically aggress each other despite an extremely persistent undercurrent of caring about the other not suffering.
Like. the back and forth between Loop constantly talking past/through Siffrin to really painfully insult the pair of them, and things like the [Forgetting Mirabelle's Name] event being so astoundingly gentle. just as a general example. (RNG event that only triggers after certain actions so you may need to look it up)
THEN adding the element of throwing them in postcanon with neither of them wanting to upset the party and thus having to keep a lid on it... I like the potential dynamics of such a painful and conflicted relationship having to be almost hidden and downplayed so as to try and not worry anyone, and thus becoming softer and introspective while still keeping a bunch of the more insidiously toxic behaviour.
Both of them acting with genuine best intentions in mind but still understanding each other to have way *way* more sadness and anger and guilt than they let on, and thus being able to clock it. Both for good and ill. Neither of them enjoy confrontation, but it's almost unavoidable when they KNOW the other knows what they're probably thinking.
. but yeah i just think they're neat! also a bunch of stuff related to asexuality but . shh

CONSPIRACY THEORY TIME FOR SONIC PRIME S3'S PACING ISSUES+ MISSING 8TH EPISODE
Maybe they had another final act planned for s3, taking place after the big fight against Nine in the Grim (for example fighting the council), but they ended up cutting/rewriting it. So instead they expanded on the battle to pad out the season but still had to cut a whole episode. Thats why we only got 7 episodes.
Alternatively they had to cut an episode bc of outside forces - couldnt do the ending they wanted, fluffed up the middle instead. Maybe it happened late enough in the production so they couldn't do massive rewrites.

man have you ever been in the middle of watching a show and you end up pausing for some reason and now, YEARS later, you want to pick it back up again, but you cannot for the LIFE of you remember what season you last left off on, but you don't want to start from the beginning bc you KNOW you made it through a big enough chunk of it and you don't want to rewatch?

Lecture 1: Here is an early Thomas Edison sound recording from 1889. It’s a recording of “The Moon Hath Raised her Lamp Above,” by Julius Benedict, sung by Two Tenors with piano. it is from an Edison wax cylinder recording made in January 1889. It was made by Edison’s sound engineer, Walter H. Miller. Years earlier, Edison had recited “Mary Had a Little Lamb” on his first audio recording, made in 1877. The quality of sound recordings steadily improved over the years. In the course of the decade that would follow this particular undertaking, the 1890s, great strides would be made in the development of sound recordings.

Pls post your thoughts on 1989 TV! Like favorite vault track, how does it compare to the other re-recordings in terms of OG tracks being faithful or not/botched
I will later today! Outside on my laptop rn and I have screenshots on my phone that I'll probably post but it's upstairs and I am simply too lazy to go get it lmao

This is like extremely early stage but I've also got this concept for a song about this quest (as sort of a sibling to a song I wrote about the Springfest quest) called Dear Mr. Cleary and IDK. Sort of in the form of additional "letters" from Ivy Redsmith to Halson Cleary, trying to capture the idea of. Playing into the fact that she suspected her letters weren't being delivered. With themes of. Does it matter, in the end, saying kind things if nobody hears them? Doing good deeds if no one sees and if they don't end up helping anyone? Good intentions, if they never see the light of day? Just a vague idea:
Dear Mr. Cleary, are you out there, can you hear me? Send a sign if you can't hear my song for you. And if you can't hear me, then can anybody hear me? Is there anyone who'll know of me and you?
Dear Mr. Cleary, are you out there, can you hear me? The winter's long and dark and cold and grim. Dear Mr. Cleary, how I fear that you can't hear me. Will anyone but me say, "I knew him."
Dear Mr. Cleary, now I fear our tale is ending, And I fear you're somewhere out there all alone. Dear Mr. Cleary, with my last breath I am sending All my love; may it find you or your gravestone.

i'm writing a simple little round about siffrin, and i'm hoping i'll be able to actually produce the song in a timely matter bc it's mostly about the vocal harmonies (easy) rather than complex instrumentation (soo time consuming).
i started working on the lyrics on like thursday last week (so the day after i finished playing lol) and i think they're about done! and i did a rough recording on my ipad to sing the second part over and i think the round even all worked?? there's like. one pair of notes that are iffy out of all of the possible pairs of the four mini-verses. it's wild how easy i find it to sing two different parts and then they sound great layered, so much easier than instrumental layering... even though with instrument tracks in garageband i can check as i go, vs the pure vibes of just improvising two sung bits and then slapping them on top of each other?? i guess i just have the soul of a barbershop quartet...
