Merry Christmas @lolcat76! Have some sickeningly happy Shandy <3
St. Joseph’s newly renovated reception hall was full at 7:30 on Sharon Raydor’s wedding night. Sharon and her bridesmaids had spent the previous night stringing twinkle lights, drinking wine coolers, and creating the reception playlist to replace the DJ who had the audacity to cancel the week before the wedding. By the time the vows were sealed with a kiss, bunches of baby’s breath peeked out of the vases on every table, lights sparkled in rows across the room, and place cards assigned everyone to their proper place.
Andy Flynn and Sharon Raydor deserved nothing less than to celebrate their nuptials in style.
As tradition demanded, husband and wife graced the dance floor first. The cream colored pleated skirt of Sharon’s reception dress fluttered against her knees every time she took a step, and Andy’s eyes devoured the skin peeking beneath the lacy top. “Any regrets so far?” Sharon teased, inching one side of her v-neck to cover more of her tasteful cleavage. She giggled when Andy tugged her off balance only to catch her in time for the first step.
“None.” Andy’s breath warmed the skin behind Sharon’s ear, validating her decision to pin her hair up.
After nuzzling Andy’s neck, Sharon eased back far enough to show him how happy she was. An hour and half and counting, and she couldn’t stop smiling. Just when she thought she could give her cheeks a rest, he would kiss her hand, or feed her cake, or pick “Unchained Melody” for their first dance and let her lead.
“We did it,” Sharon said, draping her arm farther around his neck. Tearing her eyes away from Andy’s giddy smile, Sharon scanned the room full of family. “And everyone’s here.”
Andy spun her a few times, because he knew she loved to see her skirt twirl, but pulled her back before too long. “Yeah, we know how to throw a party, huh?”
Sharon scoffed. “I’ve only had one drink and not quite all of one dance. The party’s just getting started.”
Glancing at the bridal party’s long table, Andy rolled his eyes. “Tell that to Provenza. Three glasses of champagne, and he’s practically under the table.”
“Ah-ah,” Sharon said, fingers covering Andy’s lips. “No grumbling today, remember? This is our day to be blissfully and disgustingly happy.”
Andy kissed her fingertips. “You make me this happy every day,” he murmured.
Oh, this man. Sharon stopped smiling for long enough to hum and kiss him, in front of everyone, because she could. They could make out for the rest of the night, right here on the dance floor, and no one could say a word. Today gave them license to show their entire little world how much they looked forward to spending the rest of their lives together.
“You’re so hot when you multitask,” Andy breathed against her lips when he realized Sharon hadn’t missed a step.
Sharon laughed wickedly as Andy lowered her into a deep dip, prompting claps and whistles from their guests. “Then you’ll love my plans for this evening.”
Growling, Andy pulled Sharon upright, their noses inches apart. Sharon’s smile softened his intent, and they only exchanged an Eskimo kiss. Sharon smoothed her hands up Andy’s lapels and around his neck, coaxing him closer as the dance ended[R1] . Their guests’ applause broke them apart, and as planned, their children swept them up next. Ricky and Nicole each grabbed a parent, leaving Rusty and Emily to open the dance floor for the rest of the party. Before long, most of the bridal party was dedicated to embarrassing themselves by dancing to songs that only the older half knew.
By the next dance, husband and wife were reunited on the dance floor. Looking around at a room packed with friends and family, Sharon was relieved to see her happiness reflected on so many faces. Even Sanchez bore a grin, but since he chose Chief Johnson as his dance partner, he couldn’t hide his amusement. Cathy Tao kept far away from her husband, whose dance moves were frightening even before alcohol. Andrea, whose inhibitions were too strong to be conquered by pesky emotions, enjoyed herself on the sidelines with Fritz and a hefty slice of cake. Amy and Wes huddled in a corner with Elliott, trying to avoid dance partners. Andy’s grandchildren—Sharon’s step grandchildren—chased each other around the reception hall.
“Hey.” Andy squeezed Sharon’s waist. “You okay?”
Sharon’s smile could have lit all of Los Angeles. “I’m perfect. Everything is perfect. I’ve never been so happy.” She shook her head incredulously. “How did we get so lucky?”
“Hey, we worked hard for this,” Andy said, only half teasing. “Everything we’ve endured, everything we’ve given up, everything we’ve suffered—and we ended up here.”
Here, swaying in the arms of the love of her life, surrounded by everyone they love. Leaning forward, Sharon rested her forehead against her husband’s. “I’d do it all again, to be here with you.”
In the midst of a crowded dance floor, Andy Flynn kissed his wife breathless.

I saw a few months / years ago a post on Tumblr with this picture. It started inspiring me. And then, I passed in front of a Swaroski where they had kind of the same thing in display. I had to write it.
And since now it's Chrismas Eve, enjoy !
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The 3 Raydor's kids were huddled in front of their mother's office, flabbergasted. "Is-that…" Started Emily, not believing what she was seeing. Mike Tao, surprised by the gathering, came to see what was going on. He saw the 3 little ornaments on his boss's desk and couldn't contain an « Ah » before biting his lips, trying to control his laughter.
"What's the matter, Tao?" Asked Sanchez, getting up. In less than a minute, the whole Major Crime Unit was gathered in front of Sharon Raydor's office.
"Did you see the cute little trees Andy gave me?" Sharon followed her daughter's gaze and asked, joy on her face and glitter in her eyes when she looked at the man. Those words caused a round of bulging eyes and snickering. "What's going on?" Asked the captain, feeling that something was off.
"You gave her that?! In the office?" Nearly yelled Provenza at Andy, causing even more snickering from Julio and Buzz. Tao was red in the face from trying not to laugh out loud, and so were Ricky and Emily.
"What?" Asked Andy, looking at Provenza. "WHAT?!" He repeated, seeing everyone laughing. "I'm not allowed to give her something pretty? I'm not allowed to give her a gift before Christmas, now? What's the matter, I went to buy some jewelry at Swarovski for Nicole and I saw them. The 3 little trees and the angel. And I know she loves Christmas…"
"You bought that at Swarovski?!" Asked at the same time Emily and Sykes, incredulous.
"Yeah, why?" He asked, starting to get agitated, gesticulating. "Isn't that pretty enough? I know what you all think but listen, what we are to each other is none of your business. So butt out!"
The room erupted in laughter, letting both Andy and Sharon look at each other, not really understanding what was going on. "Don't tell me you didn't notice" stated Ricky, pointing at the little Christmas trees with his chin.
Sharon took one in her hand, moved it around before saying "Oh" while flicking the switch underneath. The ornament, made of glass, started to shine, little lights moving inside like shooting stars. "Oh my god, Andy.." she started, amazed before Rusty interrupted her, taking the thing out of her hand and throwing it on her desk.
"Seriously Mom." She looked at him, puzzled. He was red beet on the face and seemed mad as Hell. Andy looked as incredulous as she felt while all the others seemed ready to burst out laughing.
"What? What?" She said, noting, not for the first time, that she was starting to sound more and more like Andy.
"It's a fucking butt plug, Mom?" Nearly yelled Rusty before leaving the room with an "I can't believe it".
"A butt plug? Like for incontinent people?" She asked, even more lost.
Emily and Ricky looked at each other, at the same time amused and lost. They looked at the other's in the room for help. Tao raised his hands up in surrender before leaving the room. Sanchez was laughing so hard tears were running down his cheeks and Provenza just shook his head.
"Seriously, what is going on?" Asked Andy. "Is this really something you put in your bum when you have diarrhea? Like a Tampax?" He said, sounding disgusted.
Provenza spun around, grabbed one of the little trees and shoved it in his chest. "It's a fucking sex toy, you idiot!"
"Oh" said both Sharon and Andy, in unison. The lieutenant gave the little tree to the captain, who finally understanding its purpose, threw it on her desk.
Ricky was laughing quietly. "You seriously didn't know?" he asked, surprised. He knew his mom was quite old school but he thought with her job… but Andy, he was sure the guy knew.
"No." They said, looking at each other, searching and finding only honesty in each other's gaze. Flynn moved back toward the desk and picked an ornament. "Why would you put that in someone's ass? That seems so …"
"Uncomfortable" finished Sharon.
Emily, who had a bit enough of her mothers prudishness. "Mom, it's used to open your butthole to …"
"Have anal sex, yeah I understood, thank you." Said Sharon, primly. "What happened to just using lube and fingers…" she said with a flick of the wrist, dismissing the idea.
"Young people nowadays, they don't want their hands dirty but they sure want to fuck like in a movie." Said Andy, shaking his head. He moved to the desk, collecting the little trees and storing them in his pocket before leaving the room followed by Sharon.
The two young adults looked at each other, stunned. Maybe they underestimated their mother.

Chain reaction: Andy brings Sharon Christmas with the help of Ricky!
Tumblr media
These Christmas credits are so adorable! Look at that little Santa
You got to appreciate the fact that they set up this little Santa gingham style dance thing. In order to distract everybody else from one of the Santa's robbing the bank! It is quite brilliant.
I love how the mood changes. As soon as the Santa gives the note to the teller. The music stops. There's this weird creepy noise and the Santa hat falls down on Mike's name.
This poor cop! My kids are going to hate me. I killed Santa Claus.
The fact that buzz showed up at their crime scene with one of those ugly Christmas sweaters! Is always hilarious.
I love the fact that both Ricky and Emily are so interested in seeing that dead Santa. Who the hell wants to see a dead person!?
I love how Provenza is like. What the hell are you doing here!? And Sharon is: I have been calling you. And then prevents his response. He just kind of stumbles over his words. I love it. She left him speechless!
Andy is just over here leering at Sharon!
A flash mob. That's what that thing is called! I completely forgot. Do they even have those things anymore? Now? I'm starting to sound like Provenza.
I love the look that Andy and Julio share when they learn that prevents us not coming to the party, but it's going to Laguna Beach with "a friend."
Did we know at the time that it was going to be? Patrice?
Just the fact that Provenza and Patrice are already taking vacations together at Christmas. Meanwhile, Sharon and Andy are still not acknowledging that they are dating.
Can I love the fact that the background music is Christmas songs! Have they ever done this on major crimes or the closer? I feel like they might have.
I remember when those big ass chunky necklaces were all the rage! Now I have no idea what the hell supposed to be trendy right now.
Provenza his face! You want to get out of there so bad they can go on vacation with Patrice. But of course we know this is major crimes and any plans that you make never ever happen the way that you want them to. No one ever goes on vacation. No one goes anywhere and does anything but solves crimes.
I really like Amy's hair like that. Usually they go for her very tight ponytail. But I've got her hair up and back and it is similar to her ponytail but it has a little bit of femininity to it. With the slight bit of curls in the back.
I've also forgotten how much the dialogue in these Christmas episode is just a bunch of Christmas puns. Like Provenza son of a nutcracker!
I appreciate the fact that Andy is curious AF about who Provenza it is spending his Christmas with. Not only that, but he just goes out there and asks him. I don't know why Provenza is being so coy about it though. Quite literally. The only thing that I can think of is that he wants them to think that things between him and Patrice are casual. Either that or he just doesn't want anybody to talk. Which that's also very likely knowing him.
That is definitely not product placement there.
God I love Ricky!
The fact that they're putting the most perfectly baked cookies on the plates. As if they didn't go out and buy those at like Target or something.
The fact that Ricky is so smug about his dumb little joke! I do love those socks though! Those are red!
Can I also say I love the fact that they have these little details to even Ricky. His messy hair that he cuts himself. His shirts that are so wrinkled. He's kind of a hot mess. He's definitely the kid that takes after Jack more. But he's loving and kind where Jack is manipulative and an asshole.
I have seen this episode many times and I still to this day have no idea what Sharon is trying to mouth to Rusty.
I love Ricky's love of Christmas and sense of occasion and tradition just like his mother. Ricky really is the best of both his parents. He is definitely more his father in personality but he has a lot of Sharon and him as well.
I love the fact that Emily is salty that she has to stay with Jack.
So of course we learn that Jack is possibly drinking again. But Emily doesn't want to be digging through her dad's trash to figure it out.
I love the wreath on the door. The lights hanging up underneath the vials and the skeleton with the Santa hat on! Morales always does beautiful job with his decorations.
Amy holding up that old lady's gun. I love what she says. It's for ladies get it. It's pink.
This lady is absolutely nuts! I love how hammy she is!
So Provenza got two different rooms, one for him and one for Patrice. Why? I am so utterly confused? Why would you go out of town with someone that you're dating but it is perfectly chase and I have two rooms. Is there supposed to be like every romance on the show You're just going to deny it? How unoriginal is that. Provenza and patrice's romance does not need to be an exact copy of Sharon and Andy's.
Poor Buzz had to be the butt monkey in the middle!
And I think prevents a just released that dye pack and poor buzz's face.
I love Julio's little chuckle as he sees buzzes beautifully green face.
Oh I get it working. Emily are blocking Sharon's view of Rusty throwing that bag away.
I do appreciate the fact that you learn that Jack is indeed drinking and then there is this mad shuffle to throw it away without letting Sharon know while she's on the phone talking to the squad.
I can appreciate the fact that Emily and Ricky want to have the best Christmas with their mom. They don't want to ruin their mom's Christmas. But also Rusty is right and that it's going to come bite her back on the ass and it does.
I love Julio! He puts on his big smile for this kid and then as soon as he turns away you can tell that he does not want to hear this kid play.
Rusty: Where is Ricky? Emily: Oh he ran out somewhere. He said it was a surprise. So wasn't all the kids that conspired. It was Andy who called Ricky and they put this together.
The thing is Emily Is that you're an adult? So whether or not you can see Jack is up to you. Sharon did say earlier in the episode that she was Switzerland.
I do disagree. This isn't about trust. This is more like preserving Christmas making. Like keeping a happy facade I think.
What does Emily really think that because Jack isn't spending Christmas with them that making him want to drink again? I rather thought that was in response to the divorce. Because while they were separated for 25 years and for much of that time, he didn't want to seem like he was married. He did show up to the office when Sharon presented him with a divorce papers with his wedding ring on his finger. What certainly tells me that he's still thought of himself as married.
Can I love the fact that Provenza puts his jacket on as soon as Patrice walks into the room. And he finally reveals that he's going to Laguna with Patrice. I love the amusement of everybody else and how Sharon just pushes everybody out of the room so they can stop gawking at her. In what Sharon pushes Andy quite literally out of the room.
Also love the fact That Provenza hates when anybody sits on his desk or in his chair. But he puts Patrice there. I love it!
I also love how Patrice just looks behind her at all of the crime scene photos! 😆
That poor kid. His mom won't even let him eat cookies around Christmas time! That's when you eat all the bad shit! And he's a freaking kid. He's supposed to be eating junk every once in awhile.
Aw Julio! He just loves kids and he wants them so much. Don't worry Julio, you'll get Mark. Who I know will be a tear at first, but you two will be such a wonderful father and son story.
I love the look on Mike's face when he hears. Provenza is okay with canceling his weekend package with Patrice. Only Provenza it in love would be okay with that.
I love the fact that Andy brought Christmas to Sharon! Happy decorate the break room so they could at least have the Christmas party. You see it stuff like this that show that Sharon does like surprises.
Look how happy Andy is opening the door for Sharon surprise. Meanwhile I'm giving that big ass smile to Ricky. You did good boy. You did good!
I still can't believe that they actually cut out the scene where Andy gives Sharon a Christmas gift! All we see is the box that she holds later on.
Andy really does look like he was about to kiss her at least on the cheek. And then she gets some cold feet of course and then runs away, which is pretty typical of their relationship at this point.
And of course that ominous last scene where Rusty wants to tell Sharon what's going on with Jack. However, Emily and Ricky do not want to tell her and Rusty's. Just hoping that it won't come back and bite her on the ass. But of course we know that it will. And the worst absolute time possible is what it happens.

Fictober - “I could really eat something.”
New prompt for Fictober! This story is a very silly one.
Fandom: Major Crimes - Sharon & Andy
Genre: Humour and family.
Mistakes are all mine. I hope you will enjoy this story! ;)
-------------
25. “I could really eat something.”
“Thank you again Rusty for picking us up from the airport.” Emily said with a smile, turning her head to look at her younger brother. “We’re so going to surprise Mom!” She added, clapping happily.
Rusty rolled his eyes at his sister’s overdone cheerfulness and replied, keeping his eyes on the road as he drove his siblings to the condo, “About that, Em’… I think it’s better if we give Mom a call, so we can tell her we’re coming home early…”
“Oh come on, baby bro, you’re no fun!” Ricky exclaimed from the back seat, as he leaned to pat his brother’s shoulder. “It’s not a surprise anymore if we call to tell her we’re about to arrive.”
“Listen, I don’t think it’s a good idea.” Rusty insisted with a sigh. “Isn’t it already a surprise if you tell her that you two are in town?”
“I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that.” Emily replied before shaking her head, “What are you so afraid of, Rusty?” She asked curiously, glancing at her brother.
“I just want to avoid any uncomfortable situation.” Rusty cringed as his mind pictured what his mother and Andy could be up to. He shook his head in an attempt to chase those unpleasant thoughts away.
Ricky chuckled and covered his mouth with a hand when he saw Rusty glare at him in the rear-view mirror. “Mom and Andy are probably still at work.” He told his brother after he checked his watch, “Gosh, dude, you’re overdramatic.”
“I’m not, but fine, let’s do it your way.” Rusty shot back with a slightly irritated tone. He shook his head at his siblings before he complained, “You have no idea what it is like to live with those two.”
-----------
“I can’t believe we’re already home.” Sharon sighed happily as she poured hot water in her mug. She put a teabag in it and smiled when she felt Andy’s arms around her waist.
“That’s thanks to you, babe.” Andy whispered in her ear. “My soon-to-be-wife is the smartest woman in the world.” He nuzzled into her hair and dropped a kiss behind her ear. “You broke the case with your intuition.”
Sharon shivered delicately under his touch and hummed softly. Andy tightened his grip on her and started kissing her neck. A bright smile graced Sharon’s features as she asked him playfully, “Do you have something in mind, Lieutenant?”
“Maybe, Commander.” Andy teasingly replied as a hand slid under her blouse and gently rubbed the skin of her belly.
Sharon closed her eyes and leaned deeper against him. She perfectly knew what he was up to. “Care to share?” She whispered in a husky tone.
In a blink of an eye, Andy turned her in his arms and crashed his lips against hers. Sharon moaned in the kiss and deepened it, locking her arms around his neck. Andy pulled her closer to him, an arm around her waist while his other hand ran up and down the skin of her back. Sharon moaned again and fuzzily reached out, untucking his shirt from his pants and unbuttoning it. She then slid her hand underneath the fabric and grazed the skin of his chest.
Andy hissed under her soft touch and whispered hoarsely, his eyes darker than usual, “Babe, if you keep this up, we won’t make it to the bedroom.”
Sharon’s lips moved to his neck and she left a trail of kisses there. “Who says I want to go to the bedroom?” She replied teasingly, her lips brushing against his skin as she spoke.
“Rusty?” Andy wondered with a last bit of sanity. The last thing he wanted was for Rusty to walk on them. They would never live through it.
“He said he would be working late with Andrea.” Sharon replied, punctuating each word with a kiss. “Couch, Andy!” She then ordered him, gently tugging at his shirt.
“Yes, Ma’am.” Andy simply nodded before he caught her lips with his for another hungry kiss.
Sharon wrapped her arms once again around his neck, a hand pulling lightly at his hair. Andy slowly moved her backwards to the living room as they kept kissing. She realized they had reached the couch when she felt her legs meet an obstacle. Andy’s hands fidgeted with her blouse and he finally managed to open it. He gently laid her down on the couch. Sharon pulled him to her with a smirk as her hands moved to unbuckle his belt.
Andy broke the kiss and muttered against her lips, “My God, Sharon, I…”
They suddenly heard the sound of a key turning in the lock and they pulled apart, their eyes widening. Before they could even react, the door swung open. In a desperate attempt to get a grip on themselves, Andy rolled off the couch and fell on the floor with a pained groan. Sharon immediately sat on the couch, clenching her blouse to cover her chest, as her eyes met her children’s shocked faces.
“Emily, Ricky, what…?” Sharon fumbled, startled.
The room stayed silent for a few seconds, awkwardness filling the air. Emily then took a step forward, “Surprise, Mom!” She exclaimed with a theatrical hand gesture and an awkward smile.
Ricky rubbed his forehead with a hand while Rusty cringed at the scene in front of him. He couldn’t help but throw an I told you so look at his siblings. Ricky punched lightly his brother’s upper arm in response while Emily rolled her eyes.
Sharon turned to look worriedly at Andy who was sitting on the floor, resting his arm on the couch as he winced in pain. Her hand went to cup his face as she whispered softly to him, “Andy, are you okay?”
“Well, aside my ego, you mean? I’m fine.” Andy reassured her with a light smile. He then turned to Sharon’s children and told them, rubbing his neck uncomfortably, “Hey kiddos, welcome home. I hope you don’t mind if we don’t greet you properly, but…”
“Oh please, Andy. Don’t worry about it.” Emily replied in a half panicked, half amused tone. She waved a reassuring hand at her mother and Andy. The situation was already awkward enough; the welcome hugs could wait.
“Gross! I am so not sitting on that couch everagain.” Ricky let out in an overdramatic tone.
“Ricky!” Emily hissed, elbowing her brother. When her brother turned to look at her and shrugged, she threw him a deadly stare. Emily ran a hand through her hair and cleared her throat. “Uhm, I think… Uhm… I could really eat something.” She fumbled before turning to meet her younger brother’s gaze, “What about that burger place you told us about, Rusty?”
“Burger place?” Rusty repeated, as if he didn’t know the meaning of those two words. His mind was still blank as he tried to recover from the initial shock. He was starting to believe his mother and Andy were trying to scar him for life. If this was their intent, they were making a pretty good job at it.
“Geez, I can’t believe you are willing to eat that kind of food! What happened to the I must eat healthy, I’m a ballerina-Emily?” Ricky teased his sister. He covered his mouth with a hand when a chuckle escaped his lips.
“I do eat junk food, idiot.” Emily shot back to Ricky, slowly emphasizing each word. Even if her last statement wasn’t true, it wasn’t the time to admit it. They definitely needed an excuse to get out of this embarrassing situation. Emily then turned her attention to her mother and Andy and said, “Well, we’ll be back in a few with food… and we will reenact the welcome home scene.” She paused and pointed a finger at them before adding in a half serious, half joking tone, “Minus your awkward moment on the couch.”
Sharon and Andy exchanged a look and stayed silent. They watched Emily open the door and get out, followed by Rusty.
“We’ll be right back, Mom, Andy.” Ricky told them with a small smile before closing the front door behind him.
Sharon and Andy stared at the front door in silence for a few seconds. They then met each other’s gazes and a nervous laugh escaped Sharon’s lips. She covered her mouth with a hand and managed to mutter, “Oh my God.”
“Definitely.” Andy agreed with a chuckle. He shook his head at the ridiculous situation they got themselves in. He was too old for all this. “I might never be able to get up off the floor.” He informed Sharon with a groan.
“I’m sorry, honey, but you’ll have to. We don’t want the kids to be back and find us still here.” Sharon told him with a sweet smile as her hand ruffled his salt-and-pepper hair. She leaned in to drop a kiss on his forehead and met Andy’s loving brown eyes. Sharon traced an invisible path along his face, only stopping to briefly stroke his cheek before going on. Her hand then reached for his chin and she gently lifted it with her thumb. She leaned in and kissed him tenderly. She then stood from the couch and extended a hand to help Andy to his feet, “Come on, let’s freshen up before they come back home.”

Saying Good-Bye to Yesterday
Here is my new fic. It is a sequel to “Christmas in Connecticut”. This installment will focus mainly on Sharon and Andy gaining closure on their first marriages through their annulments, but also on Sharon's career with her inner struggle over the Asst. Chief position, Winnie Davis, and her subsequent promotion. Emily, Ricky, and Rusty will take control of their relationships with Jack and Sharon B. The chapters will weave in and out of season 5 canon and AU  and I will rearrange some of the storylines to fit my own.
In this first chapter, Emily and Ricky go to Jack’s to convince him to sign the annulment papers. It is not an easy sell as Ricky alluded to when Sharon seemed skeptical that Jack was okay with it. It is a very emotional confrontation between the three.
You can read it here: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13004092/1/Saying-Good-Bye-to-Yesterday  or here https://archiveofourown.org/works/15321687
or keep reading here:
"Wait," Emily grabbed Ricky's wrist, stopping him just as he was about to knock on the door of their father's apartment. Unlike their mother's condominium, they would never think of just entering as if it were their home, even if they had had a key. Nothing about Jack Raydor had ever spoken of home.
"What's the matter?" Ricky paused and looked down into his sister's worried eyes. "You look nervous."
"Of course I'm nervous. I don't know how you can be so calm. Dad is not going to take this well. He hasn't even gotten over Andy moving in with Mom yet, every time I talk to him it's like all he can focus on. In his own warped way, I think he still loves her."
"Well, she doesn't still love him."
"Ricky…" She pleaded for understanding, but Ricky no longer had it in him.
"I'm sorry, Em. I don't feel sorry for him. Mom gave him dozens of chances to get his life together and he fucked it up every time. He's the one who went away and stayed away for years as if we didn't even exist."
"I know that and I know she doesn't love him anymore and that she deserves so much better—and that she'll get that with Andy. That doesn't mean…well…I just don't want him to start drinking again."
"Do you honestly think he stopped?"
Emily turned away. She would love to contradict him but she was the one who had come face to face with the damning evidence. Two years ago at Christmas when she'd been forced to stay at Jack's because there wasn't enough room at her mother's condo for everyone she had found several empty bottles of booze in his trash and brought it to her two brother's attention. The plan to hide it from their unsuspecting mother later backfired when Jack turned up drunk at her condo, eliciting an 'I told you so' from Rusty who had been the only one against the plan to keep it from their mom. Since then she'd had a few phone calls from Jack when she was sure he was three sheets to the wind, most of those calls taking place after Andy moved in with her mother. Still, she always hoped.
"Look," Ricky turned her back to face him, his voice softer. "I know it's hard but we can't take responsibility for how Dad handles the things that upset him in his life. Yeah, he's going to be pissed, but we have to do this…for Mom. It's up to him how he handles it."
"I know." His raised skeptical eyebrow at her softly spoken response caused her to stiffen her resolve. "I do know, Ricky, I really do." Al-Anon meetings and the family counseling she'd attended with her mother and brother had taught her that they weren't responsible for their father's actions, but that didn't make it any easier. She nodded toward the door taking a deep breath. "Go ahead."
Ricky steeled his shoulders and knocked. Despite his calm façade, he too knew they were in for a confrontation.
"Well, well, well, my prodigal children." Jack opened the door to let the two of them into his apartment with a sweeping theatrical gesture.
"Hey Dad, Merry Christmas." Emily stepped up to kiss his cheek. Why was it that something as simple as that was still awkward?
When Ricky didn't follow suit with a hug, Jack held a hand out to him. "Merry Christmas, son."
Ricky nodded and shook his hand trying to swallow his bitterness and not to think of all the Christmas's his father had missed.
"So," Jack led them into the small bare living room. "How was your big New England family Christmas?" Poison fairly oozed from his pores.
Emily ignored his sarcasm and answered as if the question had been genuine. "It was great, we had a wonderful time."
"Your grandparents are still well?"
"Very well."
"And your mother and her boyfriend?" The siblings exchanged an apprehensive look. As expected, Jack was not going to make this easy.
"That's what we came to talk to you about."
"Did your mother finally come to her senses and kick Andy to the curb?" Jack's grin was damn near gleeful.
"Not exactly."
"They're getting married," Ricky stated it bluntly, taking an almost perverse pleasure in knocking the shit-eating grin off his father's face. His whole life, he'd tried to understand Jack, tried to figure out what made him tick, but now he knew he never would. Jack was the one who had walked away from their family, leaving his mother in a pile of debt to raise two children on her own, yet she had done nothing but try to help him each time he had come crawling back and this was the way he repaid her? By taking pleasure in the thought that a relationship meaning so much to her had ended? It made him sick to his stomach.
His arrogance deflated, Jack looked confused, almost lost, the overwhelming pain in his chest limiting comprehension. "What did you just say." He'd heard what Ricky had said loud and clear, he just couldn't believe it
"Andy asked Mom to marry him and she said yes," Emily answered.
Jack leaned back in his chair still looking like he had taken a kick to the solar plexus. His wife was getting married…To Andy Flynn. This is exactly what he'd been afraid of when Sharon asked for a divorce. It took a few moments but once the initial shock wore off his mind began scrambling, trying to find a way out of this. That's when the grin came back. "She's not going to marry Andy. She can divorce me and still receive the sacraments, but she can't remarry in the church, and if she remarries outside the church, she can say bye-bye to receiving Holy Communion. I know your mother. She won't do that."
"She will," Emily's voice was barely louder than a whisper. "You don't know her as well as you think you do. She's marrying Andy, Dad, whatever the consequences. She's wearing his engagement ring. This is real."
Jack stared at his daughter in disbelief. Was Sharon really so deeply in love with that skirt-chaser Flynn that she would actually turn her back on the church? Prickles of panic crawled along his skin, his stomach knotting in agony. It was the same way he had felt when Sharon pushed divorce papers at him. And just as it happened then, when he was at a loss and couldn't find a way to fight back, his eyes narrowed, his face tightened, and he got mean.
"I suppose you two are happy about this," he accused.
Emily shrank back from the venomous words, but Ricky did not. "Yes. We're very happy, thank you for asking. We both like Andy a lot. He's good for Mom and he really loves her. He makes her laugh. In my whole life, I've never seen her the way she is when they're together. She deserves to be loved and she deserves to be happy."
"But you were right about the church," Emily said quickly before Jack could argue that point. "She's going to marry Andy no matter what, but she really wants to marry him in the church."
"Which brings us to why we are here." Ricky handed Jack a folder.
Jack grabbed his reading glasses and opened it. "An annulment!" He exploded. "Are you two out of your god- damned minds?"
Emily flinched causing Ricky to set a firm hand on his father's arm in warning. "Hey, Dad, watch it." Jack angrily shrugged it off.
"Did your mother put you up to this?"
"Do you even know Mom?" Ricky shook his head in disbelief. "She doesn't like anyone fighting her battles for her, in fact, she's probably going to be pissed when she finds out we did this, but we knew you'd say no to her."
"Damn right I would. Do you even know what an annulment means? It erases the whole marriage as if it never happened. Like we were never really married."
"Well, you weren't really married, were you? I mean Mom was married to you, but were you ever really married to her?"
"Oh don't give me that shit, Ricky. And let me ask you, do you both really want to be bastards? Did you think about that?"
"Having a marriage annulled does not make us bastards and right now, you're the one being a bastard."
"What do you know about it anyway?" Jack glared at his son. "It was my marriage."
"And we lived it too, Dad. We were there. We know plenty. Probably a lot more than you or even Mom think we know."
"Dad you owe her." Emily's outburst and the tears shining in her eyes caused both men to pause in their argument. "Ricky's right, you were never really married to her and you were never part of our family. You walked away and left Mom to take care of us all alone. And she did it. You sit here and try to make us feel guilty for spending Christmas with Mom and Andy but how many Christmas's did you bother to come home and see us? I can count them on one hand."
"Your mother kept me away. I wasn't allowed to come back and see you."
"That's not true. The only thing Mom ever told you about staying away was that you were not to come around if you'd been drinking."
"You don't know."
"I do know, Dad. I heard her. I heard her begging you to come home to spend time with us, for Thanksgiving, for Christmas, for our birthdays. 'They're your kids Jack; they need to see their father. I'm not asking you to do this for me, I'm asking for them. Please.' I heard her doing anything she could to convince you to come home and take me to the father/daughter dance at St. Joseph's, she even offered to pay for your plane tickets. Do you remember?"
Jack's eyes fell to the floor, but his silence compelled Emily on. "I was 10 years old and I hadn't seen you in three years. When Mom finally reached you and convinced you to come home, she put me on the phone with you. You promised me you'd be there. You said you couldn't wait to show me off and dance with the best little ballerina in America." When Emily's voice choked with emotion, Ricky rested a gentle hand on her arm for support earning him a look of gratitude. "I was so excited and so nervous. Mom and I had gone shopping and I put on the new dress and new shoes that she had bought for me. She spent a half hour curling my hair so it would be just the way I wanted it. Then we waited and waited and waited and you never showed up." Angrily she brushed at the tear that trailed down her cheek. "Thankfully Mom knew you better than I did, she had Gavin ready as a backup and he took me." The memory was still so vivid, her mother's flamboyant best friend showing up in his tuxedo with a bouquet of roses for her. He'd done his best to make it a special night. He'd made her laugh as only Gavin could, but he was not her father.
At Jack's continued lack of response, Ricky jumped in. "And remember that time I fell out of the tree and broke my arm and had a concussion? I was unconscious and had to have emergency surgery to remove the pressure on my brain from the swelling." Ricky's hand moved to his head feeling for the scar under his hairline as if he had to prove it.
"Mom was out of her mind." Emily's stomach twisted at the memory of her mother kneeling in a pew in the hospital chapel wiping at her tears and praying the decades of the rosary the entire time Ricky was in surgery. "She was so scared."
"I could have died or had brain damage. But did you care? Were you there? When I woke up from surgery Mom was sleeping in a chair by my bed holding my hand." Looking exhausted and wrung out in a way he had never seen her before, hair mussed and dark circles under eyes swollen from crying. "She'd been there all night. She never left my side. But you were nowhere to be found."
At least now, Jack had the decency to look chagrined. "When I got your mother's messages, I did call to see if you were okay."
"Oh, you called. Well, that's okay then. Let's give you a "father of the year" award."
"Look, Ricky, I am well aware that I am not a good parent. I don't need either of you to remind me about that."
"Obviously you do. Do you know what it was like as an 11-year-old boy to have to have my mother help me to the bathroom to pee because I was too dizzy to stand on my own? To have my mother give me the facts of life talk, trying not to die of embarrassment while she explained erections, and wet dreams and how to use a condom? While she assured me that masturbation was completely normal and nothing to be ashamed about?" He could still see his mom sitting on the couch armed with pamphlets and a book, trying to be so cool and matter of fact, while the pink stain flushing her cheeks and her sometimes-halting explanations gave her away. She was as embarrassed as he was. "I'm sure it wasn't fun for her to have to be explaining all the things my father should have been teaching me but she did it because it had to be done and because you forced her to be both our mother and our father. We have never asked you for a damn thing until now." Ricky's finger pointed angrily in his father's face. "You owe us and you sure as hell owe her. But, if you can't see that, you can just live the rest of your life completely on your own. Emily and I are done." He sat back, arms folded over his chest.
"What are you talking about, you're done?" Fear, icy and cold snaked its way up Jack's spine. With Sharon out his life, Ricky and Emily were all that he had.
"You were never there for us when we were kids and the time that we needed you is long gone." Jack's mouth went slack, his fingers digging painfully into the chair. The apple certainly didn't fall far from the tree. Sharon had said almost the exact same thing when she asked him for a divorce. "Why should we be here for you now? You say you want some kind of relationship with us, well, sign the papers. If you don't, you won't be seeing us anymore."
"You can't be serious. Emily?" Jack turned his attention to his tenderhearted daughter sure she would cave. Only, she didn't. Not this time.
"He's right, Dad. You owe her. My God, she changed her whole career trajectory and took a job she didn't want because she was a single parent and needed to be there for us."
"She got a higher rank and more money," Jack snorted derisively.
"Yes, she did. And she needed it since you took off with her savings." Taking the job in IA had been a practical decision, one her mother would later deem a lifesaver, but in the beginning, she hadn't wanted the job and for a long time she didn't like the job. She never complained about her new position or the toll it was taking on her in front of her and Ricky but one night Emily had heard her crying to Gavin about how awful it was, how all her friends in the department hated her now and wouldn't talk to her. It had taken her years to develop the tough shell she needed to survive in such a thankless position.
"Yes, she did it for the money but she also did it so she could have regular hours and be there for us when we needed her. And she was. She was the one who took care of us when we were sick or had our hearts broken. She's the one who was there to cheer us on when we won and to comfort us when we lost. She's the one who cooked for us, shopped for us and helped us with our homework. She's the one who went to PTA meetings and Open House at school to meet our teachers. She's the one who was in the crowd cheering for us when we graduated and who sacrificed to get me through NYU and Ricky through Stanford. She's the one Dad. The only one who has been there for us every day of our lives from the moment we were born. This is her time now to get what she wants and if you don't give her the opportunity to have the wedding and the marriage that she wants, then you will never see me again."
When Jack simply sat back, Ricky stressed the point. "Never Dad. That means you don't see us get married and you don't get to meet your grandchildren. Andy Flynn will be the only grandfather they will know."
It was that remark that caused Jack to jerk to attention. Out of everything they had said to him it was the comment about Andy that finally penetrated the fog of anger and shame. Ever since the divorce, he had felt like he was walking a tightrope without a net. Before the divorce and before his wife had started shacking up with Flynn he'd always known that no matter how badly he screwed up, he could go back to Sharon and she would help him. A part of him even believed that one day he might be able to win her back. Then Andy had come along and she had divorced him, making it quite clear that her door was locked to him and he was no longer her responsibility. There would be no more bailouts, no more money lent, no more couches to sleep on. Even if he had tried to wheedle himself back into her good graces, Andy was not going to allow him to take advantage of her anymore. This new hands-off approach included his relationship with their children. In the past Sharon had always been their buffer, first convincing him to be a part of their lives and later convincing them to be part of his. She was the one who had blackmailed him into reconnecting with the kids after a 5-year absence from their lives, but she had also made it quite clear that moving forward they were now all adults and, as such, would be responsible for whatever kind of relationship they chose to have. Switzerland was what she said. From now on, she was Switzerland. So, for the first time in his life, he was completely on his own, without back up, and he wasn't handling it well at all. His drinking was growing increasingly out of control again, though he tried to hide it, and now his years of abusing his body were starting to affect his health. He wasn't getting any younger and at his last physical, his doctor hadn't pulled any punches. His blood pressure was high, he was pre-diabetic and thanks to a lifetime of alcoholism he was suffering from ARLD, otherwise known as Alcohol-Related Liver Disease. If he didn't stop drinking, he could soon find himself in liver failure. There would be a time, maybe not so long in the future, when he was going to need those kids.
And as far as Andy Flynn went? Well, he might be the man who had stolen his wife, the one who was fucking her and buying a house with her, the one who was going to marry her and grow old with her, but he'd be damned if he was going to allow him to be his grandchildren's only grandfather.
"What's it gonna be, Dad?"
"Give me the damn papers."

Ricky Raydor x Reader
Major Crimes
Meeting Sharon and being nervous because you aren’t catholic;
Y/N L/N was dating Ricky Raydor, the son of LAPD captain Sharon Raydor. She had met his sister but hadn’t yet met his mother or adoptive brother. They were at the condo door and he had just knocked, sensing her unease he spoke up.
“Relax, she’ll love you.”-Ricky
“How can you be sure?”-Y/N
“You won me over, right?”-Ricky
The door opened and revealed Rusty Beck.
“Hey Ricky. Oh, you’re Y/N, right?
Sharon’s dying to meet you.”-Rusty
Ricky squeezed her hand reassuringly as they entered the space.
“Just stay beside me.”-Ricky
“Yeah. Thanks.”-Y/N
She followed him into the room as Sharon approached.
“Hello, Y/N, right? I’m Sharon, this is my other son, Rusty. Emily couldn’t make it but she mentioned how lovely you were and she was not kidding.”-Sharon
“Thank you Mrs. Raydor.”-Y/N
“Oh please. Call me Sharon. I hope you like pizza, I forgot to get groceries.”-Sharon
“Pizza’s great, thanks.”-Y/N
The non-catholic ‘issue’ went over fine, as Ricky knew would be the case. He later let slip an ‘I told you so’ and earned a small swat as they were walking to his car.

While I'll never consider s6 as canon and to me Major Crimes ends with the s5 finale, MAYBE with the wedding, I feel like "You Let Me Walk Alone" by Michael Schulte (Germany's song at ESC 2018) would make a lovely tribute video to Sharon, from Rusty's, Ricky's and Emily's pov.
