Somewhat stretching definitions here but whatever
Plugging my Lambda Phil AU and Norman Ratri & Peter musings because while I think Norman has way too much going on in canonto through another convoluted layer onto to it I absolutely love the thought of Peter taking a more direct, hands-on approach to interacting with him to contrast with the less dysfunctional parent-child relationship Emma and Ray have with Lucas and Yuugo.
While Mujika and Sonju both have a shared conflict with Legravalima that could be expanded upon, Sonju's individual one with her felt like more of an asspull, whereas Mujika's one could reasonably predict the angle of earlier.

One of the things that make The Promised Neverland precious is it captures the spirit of feeling the future full of dreams from the top of a tree. A generation that wants to change the world while dreaming of a cardboard car. Grace Field childirens clever, extremely clever and full of dreams but a flower crown enough for them. If Grace Field childs see each others as rival then escape arc never succed. Because they trust each other, humans able to trust each other. I can imagine Ray as ask a question to Yuugo : Peter Ratri, isn't a flower crown and camera enough for him.
Is being respected among demons and enough excuse for Peter Ratri to spend years raising children who will have to learn that they can never achieve reality and their dreams?

Norember 2023 - Emma Ratri & Lambda Norman
"Just so you know - one word about this to anyone, and you will earn yourself an invitation to the Queen's next dinnerparty."
~ Taking advance of a cattle human surely isn't a Ratri's style, but who's Emma Ratri to not dare it nevertheless? ~

And it's my second The Promised Neverland Fanfic
It's in french, because i'm more comfortable to write fanfic in my native tongue. ^^"
Summary: January 2046. Peter Ratri has a diabolical idea to punish Isabella after the evasion of the children. Not only will she be named Grandmother and will be forced to continue to perpetuate the system, but she will have to have two children. A son to replace Ray, a daughter to take over in the future.
Thank to @officersnickers to have helped me to put all my ideas in orders =)

emma killing peter ratri would have been a much better ending. the whole series, every seemingly impossible thing that emma wants happens -- she manages to escape with all of the children, she escapes goldy pond with most of the cattle children, she forges a new promise and manages to go to the human world, she creates a world where all of the monsters have drunk the evil blood, she never kills anyone with human level intelligence, she befriends even the most unlikely foes, etc.. and while that's all super great for her it creates a kind of boring story line. she is just aggressively too good of a character who has never entertained the possibility of compromising her morals. ending the conflict by having peter stab himself (in the manga) and having isabella shoot him (in the anime), after it was emma who attempted to reconcile with him, felt like a cop-out.
emma's biggest value in the story is family and by extension acceptance; a pollyanna ray of sunshine character like herself could never kill anyone. That's why it would have been so much more impactful for her to kill someone -- do the unthinkable -- for her family -- which in that moment she would have to define.
if the consequences of her promise had been disclosed, then ratri's death wouldn't have been such a let down, but because emma never had to draw borders in her family/challenge her values in the main story, the conclusion was ultimately weak
tl;dr kaiu shirai was a pussy for not letting emma kill peter

The Man Who Split the World
"Once upon a time, a millennia ago, humanity has shared the world with another race. This race had a propensity to devour everything in their paths, because these heinous beings adapted the constitution of everything they devoured.
Eat an avian, they sprout wings. Eat a fish, they sprout fins. Not one being is exempted from their savageness. Not even humanity.
These beings preyed upon humans, gaining our intellect. They began walking on two legs, building cultures, developing languages. All the while humanity perished.
These beings cannot maintain the forms they adapted, either. Their constitution that evolves when they eat means they have to continue eating the beings they took their traits from to maintain said traits, otherwise, they degenerate.
Those who adapted our humanity's wits learned to continue devouring humanity. They mercilessly stomped on cultures, and languages, and families, all the while advancing theirs.
Humanity, however, is not weak. We do not succumb to oppression. Humanity fought back. In a tug of a seemingly endless war, while these monsters devoured humans, humans hunted them. Be it to protect their own, avenge their own, or out of spite. Humanity did not stand aside in the face of danger, we fought back.
Decades passed by: shaving a fraction of the human population meant shaving a fraction of these monsters. Hunt or be hunted. Not long after, both races grew tired. Afterall, neither is advancing. That was the case, until a brave, especially strong human decided enough was enough.
He split the world, allowing humanity to live in the land without the heinous monsters. He saved humanity. He deprived the heinous demons of their feed. You and I are not scared of being devoured every minute of every day because of that man.
His heroism does not end at his lifespan. His descendants continue to protect this world by acting as a mediator between the two worlds, assisted by hundreds and hundreds of exceptional women and their children. You and I are not scared of being devoured every minute of every day because of those people.
The man who split the world deserves his name to be known. He is James Ratri."

The Promised Neverland singing contest
Gotta admit I took inspiration from this video, but like... with The Promised Neverland
In a "no-tragedy universe", all the characters from TPN are hosting a friendly singing-competition
The winner won't win anything special besides, well... being the announced winner
Isabella is hosting the competition and our favorite trio will be the judges (all of them will participates in this, but they won't be classified for obvious reasons)
...
Everyone is waiting outside the building where the competion is hosted.
Suddenly Isabella comes out and announce "Everybody, come in! The competition is about to start! And don't argue. It won't be over until every person who wants participating is over"
...
Gilda, at first a bit shy but then she relaxes: "Got me looking so crazy right now! Your love's got me looking so crazy right now!"
The trio: *smiles at her*
...
Queen levagralima, chaotically dancing throught the rhytm: "Rah Rah ah ah aaaah! Roma Romamaaaa! Gaga, oh lallaaaa! WANT YOUR BAD ROMANCE!"
Everyone: *feeling a little incomfortable and imbarassed at the scenes for some reason*
...
Leuvis, Isabella and Grandma: "JUMP! Jump, jump! You might as well juuump!"
The trio: " : / ... <:D "
...
Nat: *Moment of panic*
Everyone: *feels sorry for him and confused at the same time*
Emma: *gesturing to encourage him*
Nat: "... ... ... BABY! I compare your kiss from a rose on the grave..."
...
Gillian, while dancing: N.U.CK!! N.U.C.K!!
The trio: *clapping at her*
...
James Ratri/Minerva: "I love my shoes!..."
Peter Ratri, that looks annoyed and bored, since his brother basically forced him to partecipate in this duet: "... I love my shoes..."
The trio: *trying to not laught at Peter's reaction"
...
Sandy: Come my lady, come come my lady! You're my butterfly, sugar! Baby! Come my lady! Your're my pretty baby..."
Everyone: *excited*
The trio: *happy of Sandy's performance but a bit confused for the lyric's choice*
...
Don: *sings incomprehesible words, partially covered by the stoned notes from the key that he's hitting with all his strenght*
Everyone: *embarassed and cringed*
Nat, covering his ears: *whisper* "please, for the love of god! Someone stops him!"
...
Krone, while dancing messily at the song's rhytm: "Oh my gosh! Look at her butt! Oh my gosh! Look at her butt! ..."
Ray: *facepalming, annoyed and embarassed*
Norman: *astonished and embarassed*
Emma: *trying to not laught out loud and embarassed too*
....
Cislo: "I LIVE MY LIFE BY MYSELF!"
Barbara: "YEAH YEAH!
Cislo: "I CAN'T STAND A THING THAT YOU SAY!"
Barbara: "YEAH YEAH"
Cislo: "I'M NOT LISTENING..
Barbara: ...ANYWAAAAAAY! YEEEAHYEAAHYEAHHHHH"
Emma: *Impressed and excited for their performance*
Norman: *More than happy, but holding his chest for the vibrations incoming*
Ray: :O
...
Paula: *tries to play guitar but fails*
Always Paula: *leaves the stages laughing at themselves for the embarassment*
...
Chris, Jemima and Dominic together: "Lollipop Lollipop Oh, Lolli Lolli Lolli! Lollipop Lollipop Oh, Lolli Lolli Lolli..."
Dominic, suddenly: *POP* and then *embarassed*
Chris: "... ! ... Babombonbom ..."
The trio: *in AWW*
...
Pepe: "They said 'Yo Humpty! You're pretty funny looking' That's alright 'cus I get things cooking" *takes a pan out of nowhere*
Goldypond gang: *rooting for him and laughing at his joke"
...
Ray: "Working 9 to 5! *almost to himself* what a way to make a living...*
Emma and Norman: *both happy fro his performance but trying to not laught due the lyric choice"
...
Phil: *Can't reach the microphone*
Always Phil: *discouraged*
Emma: *comes and lifts him up*
Phil: :D "We can dance if you want to...!"
Everyone: "awwwwwww!"
...
Both Anna and Sonia: "aserejè, ja deje dejebe, tudejebe de...!"
Emma and Norman: *clapping*
Ray: " ... the hell this chorus mean??"
...
Sonjiu: *Screams in lirical*
The trio: *impressed*

Goldypond gang: *crying and rooting for him*
...
Everyone: *touched for some reason*
Norman: This ain't loving, it's cleeaar to see! But darling... staaaay with meeeeeee...!"
...
While the trio is taking a closer look at all the participants' point, suddenly someone takes the stage
Ray: "!... Impossible!"
Norman: "He said he would have never participated!"
Emma: "Yeah! I knew it!"
*The music starts*
Yuugo: "Everytime it rains, it rains! ... Pennies from heaven... Don't you know, each cloud contaiiiin..."
...
Isabella: "And now... the last participant...!"
*The music starts*
Emma, happy to be there just for the sake of singing: "'Cus baby, you're a firework! Come on! Let your colors buuurn!!..."
Everyone: *clapping loudly and excited*

182 Days of TPN - Day 173
Chapter 173: "Prisoners"
My immense dislike towards Peter often leads me to making fun of him, but he ain't a cute kid. I dunno any child his age (however old he is here) to look that happy with wearing a full suit. Normal children would complain.
Tumblr media
I know Norman isn't related to the James at all, but I still enjoy how so many people joke or theorize about it solely based on how he took on the WM persona and how similar they look at a first glance. Not just by the hair and outfit either, but even their actions, like you can't look at this panel and not be reminded of that one panel of Norman from ch126. It's so memorable that I don't even have to place it here to compare the two because of how identical it is to James here.
Tumblr media
Imagine if James never found that old document. The world would continue on suffering under the farm system rules forever and we wouldn't even have our story. Maybe. Ray would probably still question his existence and the world whether or not James hides clues in the books in the GF library. It would certainly be more difficult for the kids to survive outside the farm though without using the pen for guidance, if they could manage the escape in the first place.
Tumblr media
Peter, for once in your life, can you please just act like a normal child? Who hears of someone sacrificing others for their own gain and thinks, "oh, they're brilliant! I wanna be just like them!" I really hate how Julius pushing aside his personal feelings in order to change the world and stop the fighting sounds so similar to what Emma did with making the new promise, but our girl would certainly never betray her family and friends to achieve that better world!
Tumblr media
This poor man. It's as if his entire purpose in life is crashing down around him.
Tumblr media
As heartbreaking as this scene of James' death is, I can't feel sorry for Peter in this moment. The dude labeled James as a traitor and gave the order to the other Ratri men to go kill him, so I can't imagine why the boy is wailing so hard for something he caused to happen. He could've at least tried to talk to James about the situation, maybe find some common ground that the two of them could agree upon that would apply to both their ideals on how to run the clan and farm systems, but nope. Death be upon ye. The fact that Peter gets up and walks away shortly after rubs me the wrong way too. If he was truly upset about his brother's death, surely he would've taken his body somewhere else to do a proper burial instead of just leave him there. Peter mentions at the start of this chapter that he respected James more than anyone, but this sure as hell ain't the proper way to show it.
Tumblr media
Local fool having an existential crisis. Sure the Ratri clan was bound to play the part as the mediators between both worlds, but one couldn't honestly believe that was the correct way to do things. It's surprising the promise lasted a thousand years before someone had the nerve to stand up and say, ya know, living this way just ain't right.
Tumblr media
Peter isn't wrong, unfortunately. Humans can really be so terrible. The world we're personally living in is far from perfect.
Tumblr media
One of the rare deaths when the corners of my mouth are tugged upwards. It's fine. No one really wanted Peter to join the kids in the human world anyway.
Tumblr media
Favorite panel/moment:
James' smile. That's all.

The Promised Neverland - Season 2 The “...Why Though?” commentary of a manga reader (*manga spoilers)
tldr: me, starting s2: this isn't as bad as i've heard! me, finishing s2: *screams in rage* *kicks a wall* *wails in the darkness*
-i know s2 has a really bad rep, so i'm here to be amused, not angry. we'll see how that goes
-mujika <3 sonju <3
-i hope that third empty spot with emma and ray in the op gets filled with norman when we find out he's alive
-i'm on ep two. it feels like we're on a speedrun, but nothing ~bad so far
-why are the cookies moldy...? did they leave out yugo...? i don't like that. i don't like that at all. yugo raised them and they raised him for so long.
-my god this place feels so empty without yugo. but for an anime-only, i guess it's fine
-excuse me, what about the seven walls? :)
-why did you not let them have the shelter's clothes...? what about their individuality?
-i'm sorry, you had time for an entire new sequence of slimees, but not other important things...?
-excuse me, why are we not going to goldy pond? :)
-wow, the raid holds so little weight, both struggle-wise and emotionally
-THIS RAID DOESN'T MAKE SENSE! they found this place but didn't scout it?! they didn't know about the extra exit?! KIDS BEAT THEM WITH A MUG AND A PUSH?!
-excuse me why is this demon promising isabella freedom, where is peter ratri? :)
-the goldy pond people disrespect
-i'm on ep 5 and so far i don't think the anime is bad anime-wise. rushed yes, not looking at things too closely yes, but bad? no. adaptation-wise it's terrible, but if you haven't read the manga, will you think "wtf?" i don't think so. it's just that anime-onlys are truly, truly missing out
-a demon went near them in the temple and they didn't flee? AND THEY DIDN'T FLEE?! on what, good faith?!
-all of the children being near/in demon town is fundamentally the opposite of the manga logic
-lol the exposition via prayer. okay.
-NORMAN'S PLACE IN THE OP, I CALLED IT!
-the emma-norman-ray reunion doesn't pack the punch that it does in the manga. emma and ray and us haven't gone through all of those things that led them to norman, that made you feel the time passing and the struggle and norman's absence.
-it's an understated reunion isn't it
-i see the lambda group escaped the erasure rampage
-i never thought i'd say this, but damn i miss minerva!norman. the sus. the uncertainty. the coldness. the facade. the "what now." the vibe that made him distinctly separate from ray and emma.
-low-key hate the "now that norman is here, we can move forward again" vibe. norman made the escape plan; then things moved to a standstill; now he's back and things can happen again. as though the others are just going through the motions.
-there's no emotional weight, they just say their lines and we move on, no time to breathe, no nothing
-here's the thing. having placed the kids in this situation, you're truly honestly saying that THE FOUR OLDEST KIDS are gonna just leave their young siblings alone near demon town to look for mujika? seriously? are you sure
-there's no pacing, and because there's no pacing there's no personalities, everyone just says what they have to say, one thing after the other, and there's no time for them to transition smoothly from one emotion to another
-at least they kept the essence of norman's arc...? but the norman-less arcs weren't fillers, they had a point!
-i am so sad, the lambda facility part is so good, why did they mess up so much with the rest
-far be it from me to comment on the VAs, buuut... norman's VA kinda stands out, ngl. she shines, even in this awkwardly paced dialogue
-HOLD YOUR HORSES, NORMAN'S VA IS FISCHL'S VA?!?! HOW?!?! H O W?!?!
-norman's "i'll gladly become a god or a devil" IS SO BRUSHED OFF, oh my god, this should be A Moment!
-the wild demon looks bad, but who cares
-JESUS, THERE'S NO TIME GIVEN TO THE CHARACTERS TO PROCESS INFORMATION AND EMOTIONS! THE SPEED WITH WHICH EMMA GOES FROM NEUTRAL TO WEEPY TO HAPPY WHEN SHE SEES MUJIKA, ARGH!
-emma coming in with the telepathy, immediately knowing that the sound is the bang of norman's lies...
-THESE ARE THE GRACE FIELD KIDS, OF COURSE THE THOUGHT OF NORMAN HAVING LIED WOULD HAVE CROSSED THEIR MINDS! IT’S NORMAN! THERE'S PRECEDENT!
-but norman's plan and character in the manga had SO MUCH MORE DEPTH OH MY GOD! HE HAD HUMAN BLOOD ON HIS HANDS! HIS PLAN WAS MORE REFINED! and yes, i know "farms were attacked" here too, but the fact that norman actually had to make the choice to let humans die is not addressed or even hinted at
-there's really no time to breathe. one minute norman declares annihilation, and the next he's like, "no never mind :'(". the VA is the only anchor keeping him grounded
-these are the enhanced lambda group... which doesn't matter because they don't actually do much...
-the op song is nice tho
-OH SHUT UP NORMAN CAN'T AIM
-no, vincent, the real peter ratri wouldn't have believed you so blindly, but. we make do what we can here in anime land
-it's a shame that peter hasn't really had a Presence as the Enemy
-but why do all the kids who know nothing randomly agree to play tag on shipment day?
-so uh. why is sonju fighting with the kids on the farm in this scenario? bc last time he said he wanted to eat humans... and now he's here...? because we're... friends? that's it?
-lmao the queen and the nobles make an appearance in the last ep. sure okay
-ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME YOU'RE GONNA SUM UP THE EXISTENCE OF *** AND THE PROMISE WITH EMMA WITH A STILL?!?!?! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! WHY DIDN'T YOU LEAVE IT OUT ALTOGETHER?! FFS!!!
-YEAH AND MUJIKA IS CROWNED QUEEN IN A STILL, WHO THE FUCK KNOWS WHY OR HOW!
-lmfao, most underwhelming return ever??? of emma and co in the human world???
-goldy pond and norman’s kids gave up their existence so that emma could keep her memories, isabella could keep her life and cislo could keep his leg. sacrifices were made. i'm not mad, why would you even-
-okay okay okay. as an adaptation, it sucks. had i not read the manga, would i still consider it a bad season 2? well... i would consider it a downgrade. i wouldn't sweat the basic premise, but the execution would probably disappoint me. the dialogue is perfunctory. they say their bit, change emotions and thoughts in an instant, there's no weight, depth or consideration. things get resolved almost as soon as they're touched upon. i would have no idea who most of the new characters were as people, and i would have learned very little about the ones we already knew. everything is incredibly rushed, and whereas s1 was full of tension and obstacles, s2 was handing the kids everything on a platter, including hot air balloons, mujika randomly spotting emma's necklace, the old demon randomly having that one part of the pen etc (i usually don't mind random coincidences for the sake of storytelling, but this a "compilation of too many issues" situation). the powerpoint presentation in the end would have left me confused and underwhelmed, and the emma-tachi return is incredibly lackluster for a closing scene. i don't think i'd consider it a disaster, but definitely disappointing.
but it is an adaptation and i have read the manga and it's all very sadge.
