LoZ: TotK - Gerudo Language 6 - Highland Dialect
Tumblr media
And this is what I think the Gerudo's numerical system would look like based on the above alphabet & my personal headcanons.
Tumblr media
---
I am basing this all off of both official Nintendo approved words, a bunch of other people's ideas, as well as a mix of Egyptian & Middle Eastern words & random shit that I pull outta my ass. So, be warned.
For the rest of my Gerudo Language Series, go here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, & Part 6.
Words with a * at the front indicate that I'm not the one who thought it up. Basically, a disclaimer.
Pronunciation & Diacritics:
'J' either sounds like 'y' or like 'zh'/'jh' depending on the letter before it. 'Zh' or 'jh' as in 'zhuzh it up' or 'give it some jhoojh,' so sort of a buzzing or engine-revving sound. If the proceeding letter is a vowel or a vowel & an 'h,' it sounds like an 'h,' but if it is a consonant or the start of a word, it sounds like 'zh'/'jh.' In the case of being proceeded by a 'd,' the 'd' is silent, but the 'j' still behaves as if proceeded by a consonant. However, if the 'j' is proceeded by ', then it automatically makes the 'jh' sound.
When ' is both proceeded & followed by a consonant, the 'uh' sound is added in between when spoken, but when it's proceeded or followed by at least 1 vowel, it isn't. Unless, it's proceeded by an 'H' that, itself, is proceeded by a vowel. Then, the 'H' is also treated as a vowel. Or when the consonant on both sides are the same. In which case, the 'uh' is not pronounced. Eg. Sōl'let is pronounced like 'solet.'
Rr is pronounced like the rolling Spanish "rr."
X is pronounced either like "sh" or "zh" depending on the situation. Except for when it's proceeded by an "h" or ', at which point, it comes out sounding like "sk" or "shk."
A is pronounced like "uh."
Á is pronounced like "a," as in "bat." (When spelled in English phonetically, it's written "bæt" with a hard "a.")
À is pronounced like the "a" in "are."
Ā is pronounced like "ay," as in "day."
E is pronounced with the short "e" sound.
È makes the "eh" sound.
É makes the "ey" sound.
Ē makes the long "e" sound.
I makes the short "i" sound, like the "ick" in "sick."
Ï makes the long "e" sound, same as "ē."
Ī makes the "eye" sound.
O sounds like the short "o" sound, as in "on," "off" or "long."
Ó sounds like "oo," but shorter.
Ō sounds like the "o" in "home."
Ô sounds like "aw" or "ow."
U sounds like "uh," same as "a." Also sounds like the "i" in "third" or the "ea" in "earn" depending on how it's used.
Û sounds like "oo," but longer.
Ù sounds like the "oo" in "pool."
Ú sounds like the "oo" in "book."
Ae sounds like "hah" with a lot of breath in the "h"s.
And this is how I think the diacritics would be spelled.
Tumblr media
Ā, É, & Ī all have 2 ways to write them, the 1st of each listed being considered formal & proper, while the 2nd listed are consider informal & casual.
I've also made a few digraphic characters.
Tumblr media
For the most part, Ealiyans tend to speak common Gerudàn, but they also have their own words for things that did not exist in the desert.

Note
Hi, I just recently got back into DragonFable and saw your post where you welcomed people coming back to the game to ask you questions about story elements we've forgotten. I've caught up with all the quests and replayed a few arcs (Sulen'Eska, the First Weaver) and I remember most of the plot, but I can't for the life of me remember what happened during (1) the Vilmor arc, (3) the Theano arc and was wondering if you know of any summaries of those arcs that I could read. The most recent quests (especially retaking Dragesvard and Convergence) have made me feel like those plot points are going to be relevant again soon. Thanks so much!
Hmmm, I don't quite know where to find summaries, but I can try to briefly summarize the two
Vilmor arc : Vilmor is presented as this evil dragonlord who betrayed her companion dragon, who happened to be the prime elemental dragon of ice, Cryozen, leading to her being imprisoned by the Dragonlords. After some frozen storms, Vilmor escapes and the hero tries to chase her down, only to be no match against her in a direct confrontation. Trying to uncover more of Vilmor's backstory, we go to a city supposedly destroyed by her and meet Circe (yes, that Circe, the same one working for Victoria), who claims to be a survivor of the city and to have witnessed Vilmor's attack.
Cut forward a bit, turns out Vilmor never actually betrayed her dragon and was instead framed by her childhood friend, Dragonmaster Frostscythe, who also hired Circe to lead us astray. Circe betrays Frostscythe because he didn't want to pay her, Frostscythe tries to break Cryozen to his control, eventually leading to its death and Vilmor is finally proven as innocent, left with the egg of her once partner dragon, who will hatch into Cryozen Jr.
A brief conversation in Book 3 Dragonsgrasp reveals that even if she was proven innocent, she didn't feel comfortable alongside the other dragonlords after how they viewed her, which is why she's not present with them then
Theano arc :
Theano is the leader of the Thorns, some more openly evil subset of the Rose who are more willing to commit atrocities than Jaania. They keep it under wraps to avoid her learning, although Akanthus seems aware of their existence and just doesn't care. The Hero is accompanied by Belle, a soulweaver spy of the Vind, who infiltrated the Rose, alongside her soulally Vitael.
Theano at firsts awakens a bunch of mana-draining machines, who, in a later quest, try to drain Belle, but seem unable to fully drain her, instead overloading on mana.
This leads the Hero to go talk to Warlic about her, who discovers that she lacks a "filter" to the Mana Core, meaning she's basically able to draw as much mana from it as she wants, though she has to be careful as drawing too much at once would be deadly to her. She discovers she'd be able to literally weave the world around her with that power.
Meanwhile, Theano seems to be attempting to cast some ancient spell, gathering a shard of the Ultimate Orb from Book 1's finale and a spellscroll, all revealed to be a spell of resurrection.
We eventually learn more of Theano's backstory through a flashback. He was someone from Azaveyr who enlisted the help of a mercenary named Sobieslav (commonly theorized to be Akanthus's real identity due to him also being a green eyed criminal from Azaveyr) to steal an Ignominious, using its mana infused blood to save his pregnant wife. Unfortunately, it was supposedly unsuccessful, and he burned down his house with her in it to escape the guards who were pursuing him for his crime, although they found something (or rather, someone) within the ruins.
Back in the present, Theano is revealed to want to resurrect his dead son to use as a weapon, so off we go to stop him. In the confrontation with him, it's revealed first that Belle was his "son", adopted by Tomix's father, who he just never realized would be a daughter because he was a misogynistic jerk, and second off, that the spell actually was just Death messing around, and that instead it will inflict its user with the ever lingering image of Death, reminding them of the inevitability of their own death.
Theano is eventually defeated by Belle calling upon her newly explored manaweaving ability to literally remove Theano's arms, although doing so corrupts Vitael and leaves her unconscious, hair bleached white (she'll eventually ask warlic to form an artificial filter because she believes no one should have as much power as she used that day)
Eventually, Theano is sent to Jaania, where she apologises for the crimes he committed in the Rose's name and punishes him by removing all of his senses, leaving him trapped in a black void of his mind with nothing but the cursed image of Death keeping him company.
Belle eventually moves to Ravenloss, where she'll meet Khvorost from the main story

ok so in the reimagined quest akanthus says this at the beginning. someone shunned by magic itself you say? hmmm who do we know like that you may be wondering. well theres this guy in the DA exclusive  questline in dragonsgrasp in book one who goes by the name of frostscythe. now i know you must be thinking thats craaaaaazy talk but we know jaania has a penchant for hiring old villains like with sepulchure so it;s not too far out of the realm of possibilities.
Tumblr media
at his first available opportunity instead of formulating an order he says
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you can't see it here but his hand is shaking perhaps with rage??????? rage at this reminder that he couldn’t bond with any dragons that he couldn’t even with his half frost elf blood????
Tumblr media
we can see here his eye is blue the same blue as ice dragon breath what a coincidence what a coincidence indeed
this part is just proof of his outrage
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he wants to control dragons which i believe the rose does awful well...
and not only that BUT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
akanthus’s outfit is somewhat icescythe shaped at least in the horns it’s almost exactly the same style at frostscythes.
so this is my theory pretty much and the reasons i think frostscythe is akanthus. if you think it’s not him PLEASE TELL ME YOUR THEORY

Also, mostly unrelated to my previous post, does anyone get vaguely incel-ish vibes from Frostscythe? I know that isn’t directly stated in the story, so I might be making this up, but after replaying the Vilmor saga, the dude seems to have a bit of incel energy.

Deep in the darkness
“I can’t say this will be a normal road to walk down with the rest of the damned… You will feel alone. Abandoned. Betrayed. In agony. Keep walking, even if you feel your humanity slowly slipping away, it isn’t. Your humanity is part of the pack, the herd, your comrades. We carry our own weight, and the weight of our brothers and sisters. The road will get darker and unfamiliar. Don’t be scared of the dark. We’re right beside you. The damned don’t abandon their own. The dead, don’t abandon their own… Only The Living abandon their own. Trust your comrades. Trust your siblings deep within the darkness… We save our own. Protect our own. Trust… in the pack.” ~ Will-Bound Soldier, Quince Gallantheart

A House Staff Rolecall
Here is a List of the Staff of House Silvenheim that you can interact with on this blog! Read below the cut for all the fun! If you’re looking for Maurussus, Zasalemel, or Adamska, they can be found at their respective blogs. The Staff are seperated based on the type of job they hold, and the type of information you can get from them best! GENERAL, MERCANTILE, and MILITARISTIC
GENERAL STAFF
Marilla Frostscythe
Tumblr media
The Right hand of the Owl, Marilla is often considered the Head of the House’s Staff, despite holding no official title. Joining House Silvenheim’s Service as a young girl, this Assassin turned Maid became the Bodyguard, Maid, and Confidant of Zasalemel when he was a boy, her loyalty unquestioned even in his exile. When returning to the House as the new Owl of House Silvenheim, Zas appointed Marilla to run the day to day operations of the Manor.
Thakos Tantellion
Tumblr media
Working as the Right hand to Lady Silvenheim, and then their son, Raphael, Thakos is almost as dedicated as Marilla is, though far less cold. His playful banter is often the highlight of Raphael’s day, but the Butler’s work ethic is never to be questioned either.
Rowmarn Roweton
Tumblr media
Charming, Suave, and Intelligent, are all words used to describe Rowmarn. As the Gardener to House Silvenheim, Zas entrusted the Gilnean with his family’s prize roses. However, Rowmarn proved himself to be an excellent Gardener, and made the roses bloom bigger and brighter than ever. A Druid of Considerable skill, he is adept at both Botany, and defending his Lord’s Gardens from harm.
Valentine Caserta
Tumblr media
The Valet of Lady Silvenheim, Valentine is an interesting individual. Their gender is kept under wraps but some days it’s near impossible to tell. However, the twin girls of Lord Silvenheim and his wife love their dear Guardian to death, even going as far as to help them in planning out spectacular outfits.
Durvig Brewfeather
Tumblr media
Durvig is a Wildhammer dwarf, in charge of the Stables of House Silvenheim. His skill with Animals is matched only by his shyness, and chivalry. Oftentimes, if the children of the Lord have commited a wrongdoing, Durvig is the one that they’re left with for Punishment, but it never feels like a punishment thanks to his bright personality.
Elias Darkshade
Tumblr media
One of the first Nightfallen to leave Suramar following the fall of the tyrant Elisande, Elias is one of the more magically gifted Shal’dorei around. Unlike most of the family however, he chose to continue the magical schooling, even going as far as teaching, instead of the Wine business like the rest of the family.
Floravel Sunsprite
Tumblr media
Floravel Sunsprite is the illegitimate child of a Noblewoman who wound up in the Employ of Zas after a brief stint working as a model for a certain magazine published for the adults of Silvermoon City. She is flirty, but she is quite shy at times, and easily startled. She and Marilla do not have a good working relationship thanks to Flora’s own clumsiness.
Varja Stormcryer
Tumblr media
One of the two members of the House Staff that use the darker side of Magic, Varjar was hired as a guardian for the last of the Triplets, Mythrius. Her unique Runic Magics, and connection to the darker side of things, give her a unique perspective on the young, soft-toy loving Warlock. Unlike the rest of the staff, she was hired as a Neutral party, having never been once a part of the Horde, or Alliance.
MILITARISTIC STAFF
The Titanium Wyvern
Tumblr media
Formerly the captain of a Mercenary Company, the Titanium Wyvern is a Tauren of considerable skill with the blade. He and his company met the young Exile, Zasalemel, during his travels. Zasalemel, needing guards at the time in a world hunting Fel users, challenged the Wyvern to a Game of chess. When Zas returned to his House, he granted the Wyvern the title of Featherguard Commander, and made him the Commander of the House Guard.
Augustine Roweton
Tumblr media
The Twin brother of Rowmarn, Augustine doesn’t have his twin’s charm, but does share his looks. While his brother was afflicted when the Worgen infestation took over Gilneas, Augustine had been sent away by their parents, to join the secretive Order of the Crimson Moon. Tasked with hunting down witches, warlocks, and worgen, Augustine rose fast, until his unit was tasked with destroying a Worgen that he recognized. He helped his twin brother rejoin the kingdom of Gilneas, and recieve his cure, but was Exiled from his Order. Following the call of the Silver Hand, the Order of the Crimson Moon was found to have been infiltrated by a Dreadlord, and the last Lord Seeker sent away the Blade of the Crimson Moon to the Order of the Silver Hand. There the Squire found Augustine and presented him with the Letter, naming him the new Lord Seeker of the Crimson Moon. Augustine brought the Crimson Moon to heel, and had them join House Silvenheim’s Featherguard, working as elite spellbreakers and warriors for the Guard.
Darien Leyspyer
Tumblr media
Darien Leyspyer is a Mage of the Kirin Tor, and a Sin’dorei. His snarky, arrogant attitude, is well earned, having graduated top of his class, and proven to be an exceptional mage. His Job, officially, is to study Magic for the House, and work as a Liaison between House Silvenheim and the Kirin Tor of Dalaran. He is also in charge of ensuring that the Featherguard, and the Order of the Crimson Moon, can get to wear Lord Silvenheim orders them during times of war.
Polxena Dawnsinger
Tumblr media
Working as both the Field Medic of the Featherguard, and as the assistant to Doctor Shaedanath, Polxena has a unique quality that the family physician does not have, which is mostly the ability to leave the Manor at will. Her knowledge of potions and medical procedure leaves her more than capable of patching up the Featherguard and the Order of the Crimson Moon.
MERCANTILE STAFF
Fluerinelle Darkshade
Tumblr media
Otherwise known as “The Lady Winemaker” Fluerinelle is the elder sister of Elias Darkshade. Coming to Silvermoon after her brother had been in the Lord’s Employ for some time, Fluerinelle was hired when Zas tried to expand his house’s business portfolio, by adding in a supply of Arcwine, and other libations.
Mixxy and Markus Cogcollar
Tumblr media
A Gnome and Goblin Husband and Wife pair, Mixxy and Markus enjoy the finer things, traveling from land to land, performing while selling the wares of House Silvenheim. Their lives as traveling merchants however, is a fairly recent change, having traded their services in exchange for continued freedom. Once a notorious pair of Cons, they enjoyed scamming hardworking Azerothians out of well earned coin, and when their attempts to con a man named Maurussus failed, they were turned over to Zas, who gave them the chance at redemption via work.
Ana Moltenmantle
Tumblr media
With the Dark Iron Dwarves joining the Alliance, Ana Moltenmantle was put in contact with the Lord Seeker of the Order of the Crimson Moon, offering up Dark Iron craftsmanship for his men. Little did she know that Augustine would put her in contact with someone with far more influence. When the Dark Iron met with the Lord Seeker, he was accompanied by a Raven haired Elf, who offered her a position as the House Blacksmith for House Silvenheim. Thinking it was a trick, the Dwarf laughed, and called Augustine a traitor to his faction, only to be challenged to a duel. It was Augustine’s conviction to the man that intrigued Ana into agreeing to serve House Silvenheim, and she found that the Man’s conviction, was well placed.

[ATTRIBUTES]
BASICS:
• Strength - 7/10 - Being a Monk, Aoba has a considerable amount of strength. He absolutely couldn’t go toe-to-toe in a fist fight versus a rogue or anything, but he isn’t a weakling when it comes to carrying things! Sure, he’ll whine, but he can do it.
• Dexterity - 10/10 - Also with being a Monk, Aoba has learned to move quickly and gracefully, as well as becoming very flexible over the years. He can do a full side split without even blinking.
• Constitution -  8/10 - Yet again with being a Monk, - I know, we’re all sick of hearing that. - Aoba takes very good care of his body and has a good deal of stamina and energy! Not to mention he’s very wild and driven behind closed doors as well.
• Intellect - 8/10 - Aoba’s a pretty smart guy bookswise, he has to be considering he’s a medic! He doesn’t have very good memory but he’s got a good head on his shoulders and is an avid study-worm despite his wild life.
• Wisdom - 4/10 - Not a very bright cookie streetwise. He’s got enough common sense to not walk down an alley alone or buy something from a stranger, but he commonly goes home with and flirts with men who look like their only intent is to snap his neck and steal his wallet. He hasn’t met such a bad fate as of yet fortunately.
• Charisma - 9/10 - The only people who don’t find this little hellcat charming would have to be either straight men or innocent people that don’t know of his intentions. It’s how this little beast smuggles his way into the hearts of one night stands and scores peacebloom on discount after all!
• Comeliness - 7/10 - Something he could practice better is his hygiene. He isn’t filthy or disease ridden, but he could take showers a bit more often. He brushes his teeth twice a day, showers about four times a week, only washing his hair once or twice every two weeks. You expected the medic hellcat to be as clean as a whistle, right? But, he does always shower before he goes to work and usually the times he doesn’t shower is weekends or when he knows he’ll be studying. He’s clean while he’s working!

vilmor was a speaker?!
so does this mean that speakers are solely linked to great dragons (vilmor with cryozen and galanoth with the great one who is most likely genokratos) or can it be for other dragons? with cryozen dying, does that mean that vilmor is no longer a speaker as cryozen jr is too young? looks like we’ll be getting more dragonlord lore, hopefully soon! and let me see vilmor i will not stop until we see her again
at least mritha recognises that the events of the vilmor saga weren’t her fault, it was frostscythe’s, unlike certain others *glares at lestrad*
looks like we’re going to meet the great one, and i can’t wait to see their design! also, them recognising the world destroyer but not our dragon could be in reference to the reincarnation cycles of the destroyer and the saviour, as mentioned by the avatars in the malerous saga; the great one may have known the destroyer in one of their past lives, but obviously not them as they are now, so it’ll be very interesting to see how that plays out (and again, hopefully we’ll find out some more lore about the saviour and the destroyer).
