Dinovember 2020 – Week 1
We are really happy to see that many liked the prompt we made this year for Dinovember 2020! So here I leave you a selection of works from last week I found mostly on Instagram and Tumblr.
Days 1 and 2 - Oviraptosauria & Ceratopsia
@frautierfreund was the first person in showing us her work! She decided to draw an Oviraptor. A lot of kids also wanted to join us, like Ludovico here who draw a Pachyrhinosaurus, sent by his mom @alba.munoz1303 .
Days 3 and 4 - Sauropoda & Stegosauria
Some artists wanted to do the exact dinosaurs we suggested, like the case of @only_eddf who drew this Sauroposeidon with its young, or @pasu-chan who drew this beutiful Wuerhosaurus traditionally!
Days 5 and 6 - Tyrannosauridae & Ankylosauridae
Of course, The creators of El Fósil Viviente had to do some art too! So @pyroraptor42-art drew an Alioramus while @vicugna.art sculpted a tiny Zuul in clay!
Days 7 and 8 - Pachycephalosauria & Deinonychosauria
Finally @goldenchocobo combined these 2 days very creatively, showing us a fierce fight between a Pachycephalosaurus and a Dakotaraptor!
We hope you are having fun and hopefully we see more works this week, good luck everybody! Good luck! 😉

Dinovember Day 30: Armored Acquaintances
Tumblr media
Scelidosaurus finds a Kayentachelys hiding out in the shade. They better not get too close though. I got a feeling they’re both biters.
My 2018 Dinovember Powerball is finally over! Major props to everyone who decided to do this with me (basically @goldenchocobo and @sailorgojirarex1997 from what I can tell). Some fantastic art got made (some I never expected at least from myself given the prompts) so I’m hoping it was worth all the extra work it involved for everyone. Now I can finally relax a bit and go back to more periodic posts. Although that JP Palettes Parasaurolophus was like *that* close to being done before I decided to take this monster challenge on a whim, so that should be up soon. I hope everyone enjoyed seeing all this art and maybe I’ll do it again next year if I’m not really busy and ready to bring on such an undertaking again. Thanks!

Crow instruments!
I had a few ideas/designs floating in my head, but these are the ones that make the most sense to me.
We got a bag-pipe like instrument filling in the role of a flute, a harp or strings-like instrument and a basic drum. I don’t have names for them yet, but they’ll probably come in time; for now- I’ll just call them ‘Bag-pipe’ ‘harp’ and #drum’ to keep it simple.
Bag-Pipe: the longest instrument I’ve thought about- simply because: crows can’t play flutes- it’s physically impossible for them, so I thought maybe they could use a small bag-pipe with a ‘flute’ attached to one end. Operated with two crows; one pushes down on the bladder, the other presses down on pieces of wood that take the place of using your fingers. the wooden pieces are lightly stuck to the flute with sap and can spring up and down- kind of like on a hing? I can’t describe it well. The bladder is usually made from deer stomach or intestine that’s been made into soft and flexible leather. the pad the crow uses is to give comfort to the musician, as well as protect the instrument from the claws of the crow- just in case it happened to burst the bladder. a loose fitting cork made from wood is inserted into one end of the bladder and a reed pipe with holes is inserted into the other. One or two props are used when played to help the musician play and reach the holes in the flute.
Harp: a simple design for a string instrument. I looked at early man’s instruments and a lot of harps and strings appeared, so I thought I could do something similar, only with natural materials and little to no carving involved. One crow instrument. plucked with either foot or beak or both if the song needs it. The harp is made from deer antler that’s been broken off or fallen off. the strings are- I don’t know, but for some reason I’m inclined to say ‘cat-gut’ (not really cat’s gut) but I know that isn’t right; so if anyone knows a good, natural stand-in for cat-gut that isn’t grass- let me know, please.
Drum: Again, something I’ve been thinking a lot about, because the drum is a staple in music; from early folk, to classical to pop. It wasn’t so much of ‘how it’s made’ this time, but more ‘how to play’ that I thought the most of. It’s quite easy for us to drum, and hold drum sticks, but not so much for a bird. But through tumblr- I’ve seen a lot of birds use their beaks to tap things, and so- I put a stick in the crow’s mouth and it head bangs to drum. I’ve although thought about them using their feet to hold the stick, but it might be more impractical than anything due to the angle of how birds hold objects. The drum is made out of a hollowed out tree branch or small stump. Over the opening a tanned hide of any animal large enough is tied in numerous places until it is tight.
Instruments not shown:
large shells: shells that are large enough to stick their head into and have one or two holes carved into it to amplify a crow’s voice. substitutes for this include hollow tree branches and even large hollow bones.
‘bracelets’: I’m not talking about fashion-things, I’m talking about bracelets that have shells, small pebbles and bone shards tied onto it so whenever the bird moves, it creates a jingly sound.
Stones: banging two rocks together to make a clacking or clanging sound... I couldn’t come up with an instrument-like idea other than two flat rocks.

I guess this is a trend with me now. Flowers are out, pigeons are IN.

Every snowman needs a hat, right?
What if they made one snowman together... At least once...
Also if you have been following me since the beginning and recognise what I chose for Ventus' winter jacket; here is your veteran's discount card. I also may have made him WAY too small, but he's baby.

Day 3: Two characters you want to see friendship form/get stronger
I really want these two to be friends; and I can see Terra going all out to make Kairi feel at home. But I also can see Kairi being a little distant with him at first. Xehanort was wearing the face of Terra when he kidnapped Kairi and sent her to a different world. I don't think it'll be Axel-level worried, but she'd have to remember that Terra wasn't that person.
Also I know Kairi's gearing up to be more magic-based like Aqua; but I just want her to come leaping in to save the day with Meteor crash, Geo Impact or Brutal Blast that Terra taught her.

Kingdom Hens
I've been in an art block for a while. So- I thought I'd draw some Kingdom Hearts chickens. It really did help, and I found myself excited to draw chickens. Most of them don't have a set 'breed'- other than Zexion and Ephimer being Silkies, Lexaus being a Dong Tau and Xaldin being a onagadori (kind of). Also- there is one non-chicken. I won't say who, but they're a pheasant (in the same family as chickens).
You might need to zoom in to see each chicken, since the canvas size is big. My personal favourite drawing are of Ventus, Roxas &Xion and Vanitas.
If you can't recognise a character, I've put them in order from left-to-right top-to-bottom under the Keep reading:
Aqua, Ventus, Terra, Kairi, Sora, Riku, Namine, Repliku Eraqus, Xehanort, Vanitas, Axel, Roxas, Xion, Isa Xemnas, Xigbar, Zexion, Demyx, Luxord Vexen, Xaldin, Lexaus, Larxene, Marluxia Brain, Lauriam, (babbu) Ven (and darkness Vanitas), Skuld, Ephemer and Strelitzia

It's Sora, Riku and Kairi's turn for pigeons.
They live on a (implied) tropical island chain, so the pigeons should be 'tropical'. Victoria Crown Pigeons for Sora, African Green Pigeons for Kairi, and a Luzon Bleeding Heart Dove for Riku.
