Idk if Luffy would, but Sabo definitely makes fun of Ace for being allo. He wouldn't let anyone else do it, though, he's the only one allowed to slut-shame his brother.

And you didn't ask but these are my ASL headcanons (+ Uta) because we have basically the same thoughts:

Ace: Bisexual. Bi. Bibibi. Would sleep with anybody, probably. Definitely. The preference for men is so real too. Going insane. I luv him. Also you didn't mention gender headcanons but I feel the need to say he's the most transmasc character I've ever seen. But this is a fact already, so.

Luffy: Aroace. Always. I think it changes depending on my mood tho??? Like for me it's either Aroace or Demi but tbh his feelings when it comes to my ships with Luffy transcend romance so calling him Demi would be an understatement. But yeah. Whatever. Aroaspec. And also he's transmasc. And demi-boy. Don't ask me why I think this it's just the vibes.

Sabo: I'VE BEEN SAYING SABO IS DEMI SINCE DAY 1 HE HAS THE FACE OF A DEMI PERSON I SWEAR HE'S SO-- It started as a joke to me bc I was like "haha his clothes look like the gay flag haha and Koala's look like the lesbian flag haha" and I ended up saying "what if they're both demiaroace with a preference for their own gender but at the end of the day it doesn't matter bc they're married". You know the whole "She's A Lesbian, He's Gay, And Their 33-Year Marriage Will Change Your Perception Of Love"? That's Saboala to me. Also Sabo doesn't look like somebody who'd use labels at all so his gender is unknown to mankind.

Uta: Lesbian. Just lesbian. Her gender is also lesbian. Idk how that works but yes. Also she's dating Perona. I'm a firm Perouta believer. Let's go lesbians!! She's also dating me, specifically.

Why do feelings have to be so confusing???

I’ve never been super into labels, but if I had to choose I probably would have gone with aroace. I kind of figured I wouldn’t ever find someone I wanted to be in a relationship with and that was fine.

But now I’m 30 and somehow in a relationship for the very first time with this person that I love so much. And it’s wonderful and amazing in so many ways, but I also feel so crazy with it??

I feel like a teenager with their first crush but also too old for that and it’s like I don’t know how to trust myself in this because I’ve never felt anything close to this before.

Feeling romantic and sexual attraction for the first time there’s a part of me that’s like how has everyone been living like this the whole time??? It still doesn’t feel like it should be real somehow, even though I’m now experiencing it firsthand.

Anyway I don’t know exactly where I’m going with this, but if you either advice or even just stories to make me feel a little less ridiculous, I’d love to hear them!

I think it's really REALLY important to remember that socially reinforced ideas of normalcy when it comes to exploring sexuality are not, actually, normal. A. Because people are people and what works for one person doesn't work for others. While there's obviously going to be a bell curve on the graph of "when do people typically sort out who they want to kiss (or not kiss) and start doing that" there is going to be a steady, not insignificant, number of folks that are on the upward and downward swing of that bell curve before you even get to the far outliers, and that's to be expected. B. Traditionally accepted timelines for building a sense of sexual identity don't apply anymore. The average age for (first) marriage is creeping back each year. In the US in 1900 it was 26 for men and 22 for women. Now it's 29 and 27 respectively. Women, especially, don't have nearly the pressure placed upon them that they used to to quickly find someone who will take care of them seeing as we can now open bank accounts and own property and work for (mostly) equal pay and all that jazz. So there's that to consider.

But also. Humans, human bodies, are never stagnant. You might have heard the fun factoid that all our cells are replaced every 7 years. That's not entirely accurate, but it's true that the body does regenerate skin and bone and liver and stomach, and so on, cells at a kind of mind-boggling rate. There are things that we're born with that don't change like some of the neurons in our cerebral cortex, I think, but as a species we are generally made to adapt to new experiences and environments so much so that our bodies are in a constant state of change themselves. You're just...doing what you're built to do. Something new has happened and you're adapting to it.

And yes, it can be scary and make you feel very vulnerable when you don't have historical relationship or sex-related context like other people your age might have, but that's when you get to lean on friends and/or talk to your therapist to make sure you're approaching things in a healthy way, there aren't red flags you're missing, etc. Because humans are also pack animals and we thrive in communities in which we can share each others burdens and wisdom.

As someone who also had built what I thought was a pretty clear assessment of my romantic and sexual identity over 29 years, only to have it challenged and rebuilt at 30, I fully empathize with the way you feel. But I leaned into the feelings of confusion (and frankly, giddiness, at times). Who says teenagers are the only ones that get to experience first crushes? Who says 30 is too old for self-discovery? You get to decide how you interact with the world. Who cares what other people are doing if what you're doing makes you happy and hurts no one.

JTTW Chapter 23 Thoughts

Chapter 23 for the @journeythroughjourneytothewest Reading Group!

Right off the bat the title in the J. F. Jenner version is “Sanzang Does Not Forget the Basic”, which is so casual I find it rather hilarious. It sounds like he is good at Math and put through a middle school Math test.

Right away the German translation brings up an interesting point that Autumn here is a stand-in for aging.

While I’m at it with the season, it also specifies the month in the notes as October! Spooky season! Given what our pilgrims are about to go through rather fitting.

“[D]on’t use the whip” yes, thank you, I do not trust Tang Sanzang with a whip around a horse.

Ah, a little reminder for the reader that this whole thing is an allegory as well.

And we finally get to know what their travelling gear consists of!

The horsey got scared, that doesn’t make him mean! Like what. I feel like Bailong Ma gets way more flag than he deserves whenever he’s actually mentioned and not just left out by the narrative all together.

Tang Sanzang held on this time! I was not expecting that to be honest. Much like Sun Wukong I expected him to go flying off the horse.

Also I see what Sun Wukong did there. He taught Zhu Bajie a practical lesson that while yes the horse can go faster it actually is in Bajie’s own interest for him to trot at a more leisurely pace. Smart monkey.

With it being October in mind and Tang Sanzang’s mention of not entering a place uninvited I can’t help but picture him in a little vampire Halloween costume.

I love the descriptions meant as compliments but appearing silly to foreigners. Hm yes, onions. It’s very funny and interesting as well to think about why that comparison might be considered a compliment.

Tang Sanzang.exe stopped working. Or rather by my guess just doesn’t want to deal with this, which I feel that, I would try to opt out of dealing with something like this as well.

There is quite the meaning to the birthday the Lady Jia is mentioning! Something explained in the German translation. For the year Ding means fire and Hai means water. The month is associated with wood while the hour You belongs to the element of metal. All opposite to each other, so very inauspicious!

Those last lines of Sanzang’s counter-poem were a bit rude, but he’s pretty riled up at the moment, so it shall be forgiven by the audience with hindsight.

Ah Sun “I ain’t staying, my aroace self could never” Wukong.

Zhu Bajie look, his mind was short-circuiting, he’s allowed some slack here. Good on calling him out for being rude though still! Consequences for people’s actions, we love to see them acknowledged!

Ah the only thing Sun Wukong really cares about regarding a wedding is food and drink, such an aroace thing to do.

To be fair they kind of group pressured Zhu Bajie. He may very well had just tried to get them a meal and lodging for the night with some hallow promises and nice words like he told Tang Sanzang he should have done, but they pushed it like he meant it no questions asked. I feel this outcome might have been a bit unfair.

Though Tang Sanzang telling Sun Wukong not to ridicule his little brother like a Dad gave me such a sense of found family.

In general I really enjoy these social interactions, like yeah the fights are nifty too, but love the actual discussions between them and it’s such a treat whenever they really show how close they have grown already.

I want to talk about my day yesterday presenting my pride flag bracelet project at school! :D (if you're not interested feel free to scroll by)

So yesterday at school was the day where the students graduating from my school in my program (International Baccalaureate, or IB) have to present their end-of-year project, that they create themselves and set their own criteria and use to learn new skills and gain new experiences and such. I had all year to work on it with the help of my personal project mentor, my old science teacher who helped me set my schedules and organize my stuff. The presentations lasted the whole day with IB students of the other grade levels coming during the day and in the evening, we presented to our parents, some graduates of the program, and the parents of kids who possibly want to join the IB program at our school.

So my project was to make a total of 315 bracelets with the colours of 21 different pride flags (rainbow, gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, omnisexual, aromantic, asexual, aroace, abrosexual, trans, nonbinary, genderfluid, genderqueer, agender, bigender, trigender, demiboy, demigirl, and demigender) to sell this summer at the pride parade happening in Montreal. All the money I would make is going to Jag, an lgbtqia+ organization. I also sold some bracelets to students at my school on Valentine's Day and I was offering some during the presentations as well. This was my poster:

I got to stand beside my friends for the presentation, so that was fun. Anyway, here are a few nice things that happened during the day:

One of my friends bought like ten bracelets for herself and her friends, and she'd invited over some more of her friends to see her presentation and they bought some too!

One of her friends had a really nice colourful button-up shirt and I wanted to compliment it but I was too shy, but when they asked to buy an asexual bracelet they complimented me on my shirt and my hair!! So I told them I liked their shirt as well.

A bunch of adults (and some students) said while reading my display "wow, I never knew there were so many flags! I only knew about the rainbow one!" and most of them looked genuinely interested to learn about the different flags and their meanings. A lady also told me "oh my gosh, more people should know this! This is important!"

A young kid, maybe 10-11 years old here with his mom, listened to my presentation and told me it was cool, and asked me if I was lgbtq myself. I said yes, lesbian and asexual, and I pointed at the corresponding flags on my display, and he gave me a thumbs-up and said "Awesome! I support you". (Seriously it was so cute)

I got complimented a lot on how nice the bracelets looked, and how much time it must've taken to make them.

There was also this retired teacher who used to work at this school and who always came back for the project fair, the first openly gay teacher in the school and the former leader of the school's Rainbow Alliance Club, who came by to compliment me on my project, he bought two bracelets and gave me five dollars and told me to have a happy Pride this summer.

And there was this really nice old man who came to see my project, listened really attentively when I explained it, asked me questions about the organization the money was going to, and then took me by the shoulder and said "I think it's wonderful that in this generation, you can do a project like this and present it. Back when I was your age, you couldn't do something like this, and it's just amazing that it exists now. Who are we to judge others, right? Good job on the project." and he called his wife over to show her all the bracelets I'd made and she said they were beautiful.

So anyway I had a really god time even though I was exhausted by the end of the day. It was so nice to have people genuinely interested in my project and the pride flags, and I can't wait to sell them at the Pride Parade this summer! (:

11. A queer headcanon for Scott

I have so many fluid headcanons for everyone (bc I find that more fun personally!!) but I'm going to elaborate on aro Scott bc I was meaning to do that before I crashed at the beginning of the week lol

cw sex mention as a heads up :)

Aro Scott is very near and dear to me simply because I think he's such a good example of a person who loves so fiercely, just not romantically lol :D He loves his family and friends so much, they colour everything he does, and I like the idea of him not really knowing until John comes out as aroace and Scott's like huh tell me more and kind of really intensely interrogating him until John loses his temper a bit bc he thinks Scott just doesn't believe him, and Scott's like "well EVERYONE feels that way" and then John goes all quiet and is like "uh, no they don't, it's normal but not as common" and Scott goes away and has his lil crisis and then comes back a week later and is all "okay so I might be aroace too but I still want to have sex" and John's just like "I hate you so much right now I do NOT want to have this conversation with you" and anyway they muddle along and Scott eventually figures out he's aromantic and allosexual and he has a good time with it :D

12. How Virgil would show off his identity

I feel like Virgil would be pretty lowkey and not do anything too overt. I think he'd enjoy going to pride and walking down the street holding hands with his date, and as an artist I feel like he'd really enjoy subtly showing off the colours of his flag (yes I'm being ambiguous here bc I don't have a set headcanon, I know, shocker!). I can 100% see him as the guy that never really comes out, but just is himself so authentically he makes it look effortless and nobody ever questions a thing :D

14. How John would come out

Oh man, it's either the most matter of fact statement over dinner where he's just like "look I don't want any false assumptions here, these are the facts" OR it's the most angst ridden, nerve wracked, over thought rush of words to Scott and Scott only and then he just never mentions it again and Scott's like wth John are you telling people or not and John just very unhelpfully shrugs and says do what you like and Scott's like NO BECAUSE THERE'S A RIGHT ANSWER HERE AND IF I PICK WRONG YOU'LL BE MAD AT ME and John's just :| *hangs up* Eventually he tells Alan, but only bc Alan's questioning his own identity and Alan spills the beans to everyone and everyone (in the family at least) was like oh yeah, that tracks cool.

While the first scenario is more likely, I think that the second scenario would be way funnier, he's just like "Scott it's YOUR queer crisis now"

Do you have any opinions/ideas about aro Naminè?

She is a close character to my heart, and i always headcanoned as her being an aromantic type, but rarely ever see others having this interpretation (disclaimer that im not really in kh fandom circles tho)

Perhaps its partially because i see myself in her, as an aro/ace quiet person who'd rather be behind the scenes and likes to draw. But i always saw her as somebody who is not attracted or interested in romance, and cares deeply and intimately about her friends while beeing a big introvert.

I think you would be a nice blog to have headcanons or ideas about this interperetation of her! If you do not mind answering this ask- i would love to hear your thoughts! Ty and have a nice day, aros rule forever!!! 💚

Aro Naminé!!! Sadly I haven't seen much for this interpretation but it's a very good one! I wrote a drabble about her being aro! (it's angsty though)

I love exploring aromanticism with the Nobodies bc its such an interesting way to think about relationships and feelings when you don't have a heart and literally can't feel anything. I definitely see her as wanting platonic relationships above all else because of how lonely her life is (which she gets! thank you kh3 ending!)

For a more angsty angle I could see her wanting romance but also thinking she's incapable of love as a Nobody, but then after kh3 she meets more people who geninuely care for her and realizes there are more types of love than romantic. She's not a lesser person for not feeling romantic attraction!

She is a very quiet and introverted character so I'd think she'd have a smaller friend group that she is super close with (or maybe not so small based on the number of kh main characters there are and I want Nami to interact with them all 😅) I could see her confusing crushes and squishes or some other type of attraction. maybe aesthetic attraction since she's into art and she could end up liking figure drawing

For my aro headcanons I always have a difficult time deciding if I want them to be partnering or nonpartnering. Nonpartnering aro Naminé is great as she develops her own heart she knows she is a complete person all on her own! But I also really like queerplatonic relationships for her (qpr rokunamixi my beloved). Or since her origin as part of Kairi is so bizarre Naminé could have a strong qpr with her since its outside of what platonic relationships usually are (who else would care for you more deeply than yourself? I know a lot of people like them as sisters but there's so many ways their relationship could be interpreted. They're family, yes, but in a deeply queer way. Queerfamilial if you will. The only instance of soulmates that i'm interested in honestly)

Speaking of Kairi, KH makes for great opportunities for comparisons between characters. Like if Kairi isn't aro how does Naminé feel about originally being part of her but not anymore and also aro now. Or maybe Kairi is also aro so they bond over that

Besides aromantic I don't think I have a specific microlabel for her. Whether it's demiromantic, grayro, lithro, or anything you could convince me on it. I also like making headcanons out of what flag colors look good with a character so I also like pan Nami. Girl needs some color! Give her some garish yellows pinks and blues! “Flag discourse is stupid.”

No, actually, because people are ALLOWED to express their discomfort with anything made by phobic people including something as ‘small’ as a flag, and in this case people who support lesbiphobia - but the list really does keep going on from there. (Note: the post linked does not include the green/blue gay flag because at the time of me making that post, I was unaware the creator of that flag is also lesbiphobic and apparently racist as well.)

Quite honestly, if you think people aren’t allowed to express their discomfort with something, something that can even be triggering, no matter how insignificant YOU may think it is, you clearly don’t care about how things negatively affect people who aren’t you.

If I see someone using the orange/blue aroace flag, the pink/yellow/blue pan flag, or the blue/green gay man flag, I’m going to assume one of two things. Either:

1. The person isn’t aware of the fact these flags were made by lesbiphobes and consequently express support of lesbiphobia.

or

2. This person DOES know that, but doesn’t care, or is even supportive of lesbiphobia themselves.

Either way, I, as a lesbian, personally am allowed to feel uncomfortable, speak out, or block, as is my right. Lesbians shouldn’t have to go out of their way to educate non-lesbians on how something is lesbiphobic and ask them not to support it. Lesbians shouldn’t have to be afraid of being attacked for expressing their discomfort if they so choose to non-lesbians, because that is unfortunately something that happens. Aroace lesbians (like me) are especially allowed to feel uncomfortable with the use of the orange/blue aroace flag because it’s directly phobic and deeply invalidating towards a part of our identity.

“Go focus on actual phobia in the real world.”

Yes, because I, as one person, have the power to single-handedly oppose and change how phobic the entire world is. (That was sarcasm, by the way.)

LGBT+phobia can also exist in the form of microaggression, something other people may not readily realize and what even others may not consider ‘important’ enough to acknowledge. The fact remains that an act of LGBT+phobia, no matter how ‘small’ it may seem, is still phobic and should be addressed. To say ‘that’s not an important issue to me, go focus on something that actually matters’ is not only invalidating but also phobic in and of itself, not to mention potentially ableist because not everyone is of abled body and mind to fight back against LGBT+phobia in a way that someone else deems ‘important enough.’

People fight LGBT+phobia however they can, however they’re able, and that is valid whether it be educating, addressing, or protesting in the real world or online. It’s bad enough lesbians have to deal with lesbiphobia outside of the LGBT+ community, we shouldn’t have to deal with it INSIDE of the LGBT+ community as well.

“Well, what should I do about flag discourse, then?”

Easy. Use a different flag NOT made by a lesbiphobe. Alternatives for the orange/blue aroace flag, the the pink/yellow/blue pan flag, and the green/blue gay flag have all been made in response to the lesbiphobia the creators of those flags support, in an effort to support and express solidarity with lesbians against lesbiphobia. If you don’t like any of those options, feel free to make your own!

Lesbians themselves changed from the ‘lipstick lesbian’ flag to the current ‘sunset lesbian’ flag because the creator of the lipstick lesbian flag was racist, butchphobic and biphobic. I personally don’t think it’s too much to ask other members of the LGBT+ community to show support by doing the same.

With all that being said - DON’T INVALIDATE, GUILT, OR HARASS PEOPLE OVER EXPRESSING THEIR DISCOMFORT, ESPECIALLY WHEN LESBIANS SAY THAT SOMETHING IS LESBIPHOBIC.

Lastly - if you don’t want to use a different flag, that’s up to you. But don’t be offended or surprised when people avoid or block because you’re continuing to use a flag that is upsetting and invalidating to them.

Gotham Rogues Pride Headcanons

[These are speculation based on the Batman media I have personally experienced in addition to my own musings in the attempt at writing my own versions of them]

- Harley: Pansexual

- Ivy: Lesbian

- Selina: Bisexual

- Edward: Demi-Biromantic Demisexual (he’s very particular)

- The Dent System: Bisexual, he was out before the split

- Jonathan: He thinks he’s AroAce for a long time and he’s mostly right, he’s just Demiromantic to the point of basically being fully aromantic. There’s a whole ridiculous list of things that have to go exactly right for him to be mildly romantically interested in someone

- Oswald: Gay but kinda quiet about it. He’s out he just doesn’t talk about it because it, and anyone else’s identity, are not really important to the kind of business he and the other rogues get up to. Ozzie supports the other rogues and anyone else in the community, he’s just a busy man with other things to discuss. He’s also of the philosophy that these kind of things should be treated as normal. Speaking about it differently implies oddness when it is and should be treated as natural.

- Waylon: Panromantic Graysexual (he’s got a big heart and so much love to give, the poor dear)

- Joker: Pansexual

- Jervis Tetch is the token straight that’s on the thinnest of ice. You know those lakes where the layer of ice on top of it are just those little strips of ice that makes sound when someone kayaks through it? That’s how thin this man’s ice is, he’s practically swimming already

- Conversely, Victor Fries is the token straight that’s chill

- Bane is also straight but gives out dad hugs

- Oswald gives all his employees the day off during Gotham’s Pride parade. He pays attention to who goes and who doesn’t. It would be wise for them to attend regardless of their identity as Oswald does not tolerate bigots in his organization and, depending on the various levels of bigotry displayed, has means of dealing with it…

- Harley and Joker have not missed a parade in Gotham ever. They wear outfits comprised of the pansexual colors to the event and for all of June really. They’re very excited

- Ivy feeds into her girlfriend’s excitement by growing flowers in the pan and lesbian flag colors on their shared apartment’s window sills. She usually goes with Harley to the parades. She and Joker get along well enough that all three of them have a good time. Seeing their girlfriend/bestie happy is enough to squash any beef that may be between the two of them

- Dent has two suits that are pink, purple and blue. Both are split down the middle with one half being blue and the other being pink, they just alternate sides. The tie is always purple. This sprang from an argument between the two of them over which one would be wearing which color. They’re both bi after all, so they decided that they would make two (as is their custom with most things) so neither would be upset. They also have suits that are two shades of pink and two shades of blue with a bi flag tie as well. Just to make sure they have all their bases covered for whatever they are both feeling

- All of the rogues support small Pride businesses every year. It’s pretty much the one thing they actually spend money on

- Yes Pride celebrations have gotten violent in Gotham. It’s Gotham and Pride started as a riot after all. However, the rogues never terrorize Gotham citizens during this time, only the ones who accost the celebrations. Batman does nothing about this. The rogues who are not engaging in the conflict actually team up with Batman on getting scared celebrators to safety. No reason for anyone not wanting to get involved to be hurt

- More often than not though, Gotham is relatively calm and pleasant in June

13. When did you realize you weren’t cishet?

So I’ve known for about a decade that I wasn’t straight but at the time I thought I couldn’t be asexual because I experience aesthetic attraction (and didn’t know there were different attractions) so in my head it didn’t fit. No other labels seemed to fit either so I just kept with straight even though I knew it wasn’t right.

13. Favorite colors?

My favourite colour has always been orange but purple and green are a close joint second (not even for aroace reasons, pure coincidence).

38. Do you own pride merch? Would you like to?

I do! I own an ace flag & have various rainbow bits that I’ve gathered from pride events like a flag face paint stick

12. Dragons or cake ace?

Cake is my one true love in life but dragons are cool too!

13. Do you have an ace ring? Do you want one?

I actually don’t and the reason is purely aesthetic because I wear a lot of silver rings so a black one wouldn’t match 😂

I continue being amazed just how much of an effect starting hrt had on my sexuality. I used to think I was attracted to guys and masc-presenting people, but sike! My crushes on guys were 90% my debilitating dysphoria going gotta be one of my favorite genders, that.

I've been on T for 1.5 years, and in that time I've done something of a 180; I get weak in the knees for femmes and feminine people. I have zero wish to be feminine myself, but....girls pretty......

This has been (and keeps being) an interesting journey. I very much identify as "just some guy" but I can't deny feeling a massive kinship with butches and he/him lesbians. I present fairly binary in my irl life just for safety reasons, but everything about how I experience attraction, gender, and sexuality is profoundly queer.

This also goes to show how sometimes you won't know everything about yourself before the blaring alarm of dysphoria is finally addressed and silenced. I just want to give a shout-out to everyone who thought they were flavor A, only to later change their mind. Having the headspace to figure this stuff out is priceless. Obviously most people probably know their sexuality before transition, but I just want to reiterate that it's okay if you don't. Seems like I didn't.

Before life settled down, these kinds of odd and even contradictory vibes would have made me anxious. I would have felt like I have to pick one and own it a 100%. Now I'm just...kind of content to sit with these ideas. Maybe one will grow bigger than the others. Maybe not. All this comes before I even touch the fact that I'm some flavor of aroace. :D

I've become more private in recent years but maybe sharing this insight will help someone. I'm 31, which isn't that old, but I know I would have needed examples of older (not old, lmao) folks transitioning. Especially with the recent resurgence of TERF bullshit and hate against trans guys and transmasc people, I feel it's important to show that the people behind online handles are both more complicated than you'd think AND that they're still. Just some guy.

okay okay, maybe I'll add another if I see no one ask you it, but for the character opinion bingo, I want to see Ethan Winters and Mia Winters; hm hm *wink wink*, wanna go for that Mithan duo

I'll admit I have no f idea how bingo works, should I add on the previous card? I'll do that but using different colours, it'll be yellow for Ethan and blue for Mia, so:

Ethan:

I am aroace, not interested in relationships, but Ethan Winters is a guy to marry. Certainly take good care of him and cherish how much he'd love you, but despite his apparent "lack of interesting traits", he's the kind of person you'd actually want to settle down with. Caring, loving, sweet, not hindered by any toxic masculinity in him, and would make you laugh with his stupid jokes. And also very brave when it comes down to it.

For all of that, he is blorbo. As I mentioned with Manny, Ethan is a delight to play as because despite the shit happening around him he's still so stuck to reality and I love how I'm exploring the fuckery with him because he's always going WHAT THE FUCK just like I am. Plus his one-liners are perfectly horrible to give me a laugh during stressful gameplay.

He was done so f dirty by the fans, I can't even... - meaning the RE fans of course, particularly the re8 fans, not the Ethan fans. The villains existed in the story to die, accept you're a simp and get over your hate for Ethan, Jesus. I'm all for loving whatever fictional thing you want to love but when people start coming with torches and pitchforks for a character just because he isn't hot or morally ambiguous or doesn't have a complicated backstory and character WHEN THAT'S NOT EVEN NEEDED IN THE STORY... we're starting to have problems.

My blog my rules, so I picked "Why does he look like that" but (affectionate). Because look at him:

We weren't even MEANT to see this face but they nailed the "plain white bread" taste even on the hidden face! This is the face of a Just a Guy who wanted to go buy groceries but saw the tired overworked grocery workers were closing down for the night, and he's now hating that he has to get up earlier next morning so he can shop before work. I wanna pat his shoulder and tell him it's okay, then hand him over a flag with a hammer and sickle and tell him we should go protest in the square.

If all that couldn't portray why I've lost my mind for Ethan "Just a Guy" Winters I don't know what else to tell you XD

And yes of course he hasn't done anything wrong in his life <3 He even taught himself to not swear because he had a baby (remember how much he swears in re7, compared to re8) even if a few fucks slip through here and there <3 If the villains didn't wanna be killed they should have just stayed out of his way of getting Rose back. They wanted a good parent figure but god forbid a father try to get his own kid back.

Mia:

I feel like with this fandom, I have to repeat over and over that I'm not a big fan of Mia, but I don't hate her either. Of course I'm being sarcastic with the "everyone is wrong but me" but considering what the gaming community mostly consists of, I'm not surprised at all that the female character who was neither a) sexualized, b) OP, c) mysterious, or d) firmly on the "good" end of the spectrum received all the fucking hate from the community - and even the latter could still make her a target for that. I don't understand why fandom communities have to pick one character to hate on, period. But the hatred for Mia is completely uncalled for, especially considering how criminally little time she got in re8. Sure I can understand that she wanted to leave her past life as a bioterrorist behind, but she was a fucking bioterrorist and I'd like to know more of how she regretted her past work and especially how she worked it out with Ethan enough to reach the point of deciding to have a baby. That's just missed screentime, not a reason to hate on a character, unless you're always prepared to see the worst in a character with limited screentime. But again, she's a female character who doesn't have any of the traits that most gamers *cough*incels*cough* consider they make a female character worthy of existing in a story.

So yeah, just like Ethan, she got done really dirty by the re8 fandom. I'm pretty sure most people who complain that "RE8 should have given us the choice to join Heisenberg just like RE7 gave us the choice between saving Mia and Zoe!" have forgotten that initially saving Zoe brings the bad ending, because they've missed the entire point of re7 is to save our wife, Mia, because Ethan is a wife-loving dumbass who will risk life and limb (... literally) to save her, and whether or not we agree with that IS NOT THE POINT. We are meant to get into Ethan's headspace, not force Ethan into ours. That's the entire point of first-person games with a linear story.

Idk if I was supposed to just be positive here, lmao. Most of my feelings for Mia are like a reaction to the absurd amount of hate I see for her, I'd probably not care much for her aside from "I'd like to see her development between re7 and re8" if people were just normal about her. I mean, even almost perfect characters get haters, so there would be some for Mia anyway and I'd understand that, but this fandom genuinely worries me to the point I had to add a disclaimer on a fic I wrote so that people wouldn't hate on her in the comments because I'm just tired of all the negativity. And that's not fucking normal, especially for a character whom I only care about because of her relationship to my blorbo.
