tagged by @b1uetrees! Last song I listened to: Freaks - Timmy Trumpet (feat. Savage)
Currently reading: The Saint of Bright Doors by Vajra Chandrasekera. It's a slow build but delightfully weird and interesting so far.
Currently watching: Marry My Husband and Hazbin Hotel. Just finished Gyeongseong Creature and planning to check out 19th Floor soon.
Currently obsessed with: I kinda feel like I'm between obsessions, actually, although I still hopefully check Beyond Evil on AO3 far too often.
tagging @peskyjellyfish (but no pressure) and anyone else who sees this and wants to participate!

Explore The World Heritage Sites In Kathmandu Valley
Nepal is blessed with natural and cultural heritage. Kathmandu Valley is the first to be included in Nepal's World Heritage Sites List. Nepal's natural world heritage site is made up of the world's highest mountains, with a rugged landscape of deep lakes, glaciers, and rock formations that are home to incredible species - snow leopards and pandas, 208 species of birds. At the same time, in the foothills of the Himalayas is another world heritage site that represents the Terai region, where one of the last populations of Asian horned rhinos and the latter the sanctuary of the Bengal tiger. Here is the list of world heritage sites in Kathmandu Valley that you must explore.
Kathmandu Durbar Square
Tumblr media
Kathmandu Durbar Square is one of the three ancient durbar squares in the Kathmandu Valley, built by the Malla kings in the 15th and 16th centuries. Durbar Square in Kathmandu is the home of the Malla and Shah kings. Special attractions include the Hanuman Dhoka Palace Complex, where important ceremonies of the royal government were held, such as the coronation ceremony, Kumari Chowk, the abode of the living goddess Kumari, and the Taleju Temple, among others. It is located in Kathmandu district, Basantapur district. It can be reached in about 5 minutes from Thamel by taxi. One can take a 20-minute walk to Kathmandu Durbar Square from Thamel.
Swayambhunath Stupa - The Monkey Temple
Tumblr media
Swayambhunath is one of the oldest holiest Buddhist stupas in Nepal. The unique design includes the main stupa with a dome at the bottom and a cubic structure at the top with a picture of the Buddha looking at all four directions. The various parts of the site include the main stupa complex, the Vajra Thunderbolt, the Buddha statue on the west side of Swayambhunath, the Sleeping Buddha and the Dewa Dharma monastery with its bronze Buddha emblem and traditional Tibetan paintings, and Harati. Swayambhunath is said to have been born from a lotus flower that bloomed in the middle of a lake in the Kathmandu Valley. The site was founded in the early fifth century. Also called the Monkey Temple, the Swayambhunath Stupa sits on top of a hill and overlooks the Kathmandu Valley, offering a bird's eye view of many parts of the Kathmandu Valley. The huge steel dome with the all-seeing eye of the Buddha can be seen for miles. Climb the 365-stone steps to the stupa and admire the magnificent view it has to offer.
Boudhanath Stupa
Tumblr media
This is one of the largest stupas in the Kathmandu Valley. Special features include the main stupa with a white dome and a golden tower painted with all the Buddha's eyes. Around the main stupa, more than 50 Tibetan hotels have been built. The stupa is based on the ancient trade route from Tibet, which enters the Kathmandu Valley and was founded by the Nepalese King Lichhavi. Boudhanath Stupa is a real gem in Kathmandu, attracting hundreds of pilgrims every day. Boudhanath Stupa located on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu, is a major tourist attraction in Kathmandu. Walking around the white stupa in a clockwise direction turns the prayer wheel and soaks up the peaceful atmosphere of the stupa.
Pashupatinath Temple
Tumblr media
Pashupatinath is the temple of Lord Shiva and is the largest temple in Nepal. The highlight of Pashupatinath is the sacred Linga of Lord Shiva (Idol of Shiva) enshrined in the pagoda structure. There are more than 100 temples and monuments in the Pashupatinath temple which are divided into the inner and outer precincts. The main temple that exists today was built in the 5th century. The best time to visit Pashupatinath would be in the evening when the Aarati is conducted, thus providing an interesting and spiritual journey. Located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River, this temple has a golden pagoda. A huge bronze statue of Nandi the 'Bull', the sacred vahana (vehicle) of Lord Shiva, guards the entrance. The Arya Ghat Hindu hot spring is located below the temple. Hindus believe that the burning of the dead at Arya Ghat helps the dead to attain salvation.
Changu Narayan Temple
Tumblr media
It is the oldest Hindu temple still functioning in the valley. Special features include a pagoda-style temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is located in Bhaktapur district, east of Kathmandu and north of Bhaktapur City. It was built in the 4th century during the Lichhavi dynasty and rebuilt in 1702 after a great fire. Visit the ancient Hindu temple of Changu Narayan, considered to be the oldest temple in the Kathmandu Valley. Nestled in the middle of a lush green forest, the Changu Narayan Temple is built in the form of a two-storied pagoda. On the way to the temple, you can visit the Changu Museum, which is supposed to be the first private art museum in Nepal. The temple grounds have unique sculptures, stone, and metal objects from the Licchavi and Malla periods.
Bhaktapur Durbar Squares
Tumblr media
This square is located 13 kilometers east of Kathmandu and consists of four different residential areas: Durbar Square, Taumadhi Square, Dattatreya Square, and Pottery Square. 55 Window Palace, Nyatapola Temple, and Lion Gate are some of the attractions here. Brick walkways, carved woodwork, pagodas, and monuments fascinate first-time visitors. Take a tour of Pottery Square for a unique experience.
Patan Durbar Squares
Tumblr media
Patan Durbar Square is also a World Heritage Site in the Kathmandu Valley. Famous for its beautiful display of Newari buildings. It has many temples, palaces, and gardens. Most of the construction started during the Malla period. Patan Palace, which now houses a museum, was the residence of the Malla kings. There are 55 temples around Patan Durbar Square. Patan Durbar Square is the royal palace of the ancient kingdom of Lalitpur when the Malla dynasty ruled. Special attractions include ancient palaces and elaborate temples like the Krishna Mandir built in the local Shikhara style.
In Conclusion
Kathmandu Valley is the capital city of Nepal with seven monuments listed as World Heritage Sites. Each of these sites reflects the rich art, culture, tradition, and religion of Nepal. Even though the valley is developing rapidly, the true history of the camps still exists. No photo or video will be enough to explore the ancient culture and craftsmanship of Nepal.

Consider, a human AU where Asura didn't actually do anything bad but is just Death's estranged son who ran away with his boyfriend(Vajra of course) to travel and get away from his extremely neglectful, perfectionist father the second he could legally do so. -Kai
Trigger warning: various flavors of child abuse
Okay so this AU takes place in a world pretty much the same as our own; no kishin, Shinigami, weapons or witches.
Lord Death is an esteemed Japanese general in the US military, and when he retires, he opens an elite military academy in Navada. He has two sons, Asura and Kid.
Asura, as usual, has been plagued with all sorts of phobias since he was a child. Lord Death has taken issue with this, as Asura is his first born, destined to be a great leader, eventually taking over his fathers seat as headmaster of the achedemy. Lord death does not shy away from making his dissatisfaction with Asura known. He’s overly cruel and critical with his son, often striking him when his son gets on his nerves. Lord Death genuinely thinks to be toughening up his son, and for a time, Asura believes him.
In a different part of the world, Vajra is making plans to escape from his own toxic hell hole.
He and several of his adoptive siblings live with their foster mom, a cruel and manipulative ‘witch’ as Vajra so loving calls her. Arachne, unlike lord Death, never acts cruel or strikes her children. To everyone around them, it seems that she loves her children dearly, bathing them in affection and taking care of their every need. She loved to pamper her children, and the public all saw her as a wonderful example of selfless motherhood
Oh how wrong they were. Arachne loves being a mother, loved it a little too much. She would often put various poisons and medications in her children’s food and drink, measuring out each potion with precision and care. When the child fell ill, she’d run crying to the doctors, begging and pleading for them to help her poor, helpless children. Of course, she’s shower her ill child with attention and affection, while she herself basked in the praise of others for her unfailing ‘love’ for her children. Ah yes, good ol munchausen by proxy
Vajra signed himself to attend Lord Deaths DWMA as soon as he could, and off he went. His ‘mother’ tried desperately to convince him to stay, but it was all for naught. Vajra had already gone.
Sometime after, Asura and Vajra met. All that Vajra saw before him was hardheaded cocky asshole. Asura was no better, looking down on Vajra as some pathetic run away. Needless to say they weren’t really on the best terms initially, but that quickly changed the more they revealed to eachother over all nighters and sleep deprived ramblings.
Not long after, the two fell in love. Now, lord Death isn’t homophobic, but he has firm expectations of his oldest son, and running off with some ‘one night fling’ definitely wasn’t it. That’s what Asura assumes anyway, and correctly so.
The idea to run away comes when he witnesses lord death berating his son over not getting full marks in some class assignment. The encounter turned into a screaming between the two, coming to a head when lord death slapped Asura right across the face. Vajra made the choice for both of them right then and there, grabbing Asuras hand and running off into the night.
With nothing but the clothes on their back, the boys ran off. They got on the first bus they could and went as far as it would take them. They worked odd jobs to support themselves, stayed in a multitude of shady hotels, and had their fair share of close calls. But eventually, they found a place they could both call home.
They settled down in a quaint little village nested at the base of himalayan mountains. It was peaceful life, and the two were more than happy to trade in their hectic life of motel-hoping the run for their little homey lakeside cabin.
They lived there for several years, slowly forgetting the painful years of their youth. Each new day filling their modes and hearts with love and scerinity. Their past was well behind them. Or so Asura thought.
One day, while vajra has ventured into town, Asura heard a knock at the door. This wasn’t uncommon, and since he knew everyone here, Asura wasn’t the slightest bit hesitant when he opened the door. But when he did, he wished he hadn’t
I’ll continue in another post :3

THURSDAY NIGHT TASTING 6-8PM:  ITALIAN STALLIONS
We’ve been thinking of Italy a lot lately. It has more genetic diversity in terms of wine grapes than any other country by a LOT. And of course there’s what we call “the Italy factor”. We never seem to have enough of these wines on hand (at home) because they go so well with food we always drink them right away. Perhaps you have more self-control. But probably not. So you need a bottle or two. So tonight our old friend Spencer Harrington(!) will be behind the Lions Club Bar, pouring a few of our faves.
As always, we’ll have WINE, BREAD, CHEESE, VINYL & LOVE!
G.D. Vajra is located in Piedmont in Northwest Italy. The winery sits at the highest elevation in the commune of Barolo, in a village called Vergne. The Vajra family has farmed Bricco delle Viole, the highest cru in Comune di Barolo, since the 1880s. Today, the Vajra family continues the vineyard research focusing on the influence of soil and climate change. "Wines that do not need to talk out loud or flex their muscles. We ask them to touch the hearts of all." -- G.D. Vajra
G.D. Vajra, N.S. Della Neve Extra Brut Rosé NV
A champagne-method rosé nature of 50% Nebbiolo, 50% Pinot Noir. Nostra Signora Della Neve is a rosé de saignée. The juice stays in contact with the skins at low temperatures for just a few hours. In the spring following to the harvest begins the second fermentation, followed by a rest on the lees of around 48-60 months. Vajra is trail-blazing the rediscovery of Chiaretto di Nebbiolo and the wines of the 17th century – long before Barolo was created - through “N.S. della Neve” and “Claré JC”, a partial whole-cluster fermentation of pure Nebbiolo. The high elevation vineyards particular to Vajra provide the high acidity needed for this fantastic sparkler. Organic. $40
Vajra Barbera d'Alba Superiore 2016
Wild and brambly, this deep purple beauty is brooding and layered, with red and black forest berries, and a note of plum as well. The tannins are supple but quite present and the finish is quite long. A vibrant wine for sure, with many layers to discover. Attention to detail and a real appreciation of nature are hallmarks at Vajra and it continues to show in the wines. Anyone who thinks this grape can’t be complex needs to try this – seriously deep-end Barbera. Organic.  $35
The Estate Coltibuono in Chianti Classico is considered to be one of the most representative wines of the appellation. The "abbey of good harvest" is at least a thousand years old according to the Marchio Storico and the monks of Coltibuono, the Vallombrosan may have been the first to cultivate Sangiovese in Tuscany. The monastery was active from 1000 C.E. to around 1800 C.E. when Napoleon annexed most church property in Tuscany. Some he gave away to friends or as political favors, some he sold. Thus, there were two owners between the time of the annexation and the abbey's purchase by the Stucchi's ancestors in 1841. It is now a hotel and you can stay there!
Badia a Coltibuono, Chianti Classico 2016
This wine is the result of natural production methods using organically-grown Sangiovese and Canaiolo grapes from the estate vineyards. Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted, fermentations are done with indigenous yeasts, and after 3 weeks of maceration on the skins, the wine is moved to French and Austrian oak casks to age for 12 months. This wine is incredibly well-balanced, tightly knit with supple tannins, mineral notes, and a mouth cleansing fresh acidity. Emanuela Stucchi and her siblings are seventh generation stewards of the property. The philosophical approach is to maintain both the integrity of Sangiovese and the unique terroir of Chianti Classico through organic farming practices, clonal diversity, restrained use of new oak barrels and the shunning of dominant varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon.  Organic. $24
