Dragon’s Whiskers
Summary: A little fluff piece about Fennec and Boba and their friendship. Fennec is going through a rough patch and Boba tries to help. Contains candy and some spice.
Warnings: some angst, mentions of trauma, mentions of injury; gentle prank; one instance of a non-romantic kiss.

When Fett had barged into her office in the middle of the night, and told her to either go to sleep or else tell him what to do to make her feel a little better, Fennec’s first thought was to drag his armoured butt up to the top of the communications tower and throw him off of it. Pretzel had padded in on soft paws behind Fett, following him through the door he had left open. She joined the other two grumpy felines on their pillows staring at the two humans for still being up instead of letting them sleep. All Fennec had wanted to do was to go back to burying herself in account books and ship logs and other details of the job and take her mind off everything else. 
“You are the last person I need help from” she had told him, ready for their next round of arguments, knowing it was usually him who lost his patience first. She must have been really tired because this time he had kept up with her.
“Great, you have a list of more usable people. Name some.” He had plopped down onto her reading chair, his lap promptly claimed by one of the ‘cats, than stared at her like she was on a list too; one for problems to be solved. “Nothing? Than how about, just going away from this all? Take a few days off. Visit a spa, or a forest, or a racecourse.”
She had sighed and hoped he'd still go away if she was just abrasive enough, but he had stood his ground. He had argued, he had asked; he had showed her planets to visit and speeder advertisements and had offered contacts for weapons upgrade specialists. It had seemed like he had tried to think of anything that might interest her and would cheer her up a little. Even the karking ‘cats had been on his side, taking turns at rubbing up to her legs and begging to be allowed onto her lap and be petted.
“Or I can just get you a blaster bolt on stun setting. That’d make sure you sleep a couple hours” he threw his hands up in the end, frustrated. Even that wouldn’t have helped. Knocked out cold wasn’t the same as a good night’s rest, and that was the thing Fennec needed the most. Her old problems with sleep were slowly creeping up on her in the past few months. Then last week happened, and she broke down in a way she hadn’t had in a long time. No wonder Fett had been somewhat worried about her. In the end, more embarrassed for making him worry over her and for keeping him from resting than actually believing it would help much, she had given up and gave him the name of a planet.
 All in all it turned out to be a great day. It was high time Fennec visited her home planet, and with all of the mess that went down a week prior and made her heart clench with grief at random times, it proved Fett right in being a welcome break from it all. Seeing the people who were so similar to her own family, hearing the familiar dialect and words particular to her homeworld - it made her remember where she came from. Being reminded of her roots helped to anchor herself again, something she needed in the storm that was her life lately. She hoped it will help her sleep better too.
She didn’t wanted to go as herself though. She didn’t wanted for anyone to recognize her, or know her as she was now, so they had put on hooded cloaks over their usual attires, Fett even leaving behind his helmet on the ship. They had arrived early morning and visited a few places: the Memorial of Ancestors, one of the schools she went to and another she would’ve loved to attend but never got to. Then they went over to the theatre district, watched a street performance, and even seen some dancers and musician at a park there. 
They finished the day off by walking around the Old Market. They started there with a late lunch and than spent a few hours wandering around at a leisurely pace, looking at all the different goods on offer and the people milling about. She stopped to buy a few things here and there: a comb, a scarf, some tea, and then some more tea. They debated about getting some treats for the furballs than decided they were spoilt enough already. They had made a wide circle around the rows of stalls with their rainbow of canopies and were on their way back towards the area set aside for spaceships, as the town lacked a proper spaceport. The last things she picked up were a stack of flat boxes at the handmade-candy stall named The Dragon’s Beard. She had put in her order earlier, knowing the crafters needed time to make the wide selection she wanted. And selection they had. Sweet candies of all kind, with syrups and berries and milks; savoury ones with cashews and nuts, spicy with peppers and roots and pickles. She ordered enough to bring back to let everyone have at least a taste of all the different types. Fett looked at the pile of boxes with uncertainty. 
“There should be enough sweets there to give a sugar rush to everyone back home” he commented as she tucked the colourful boxes under the arm that didn’t already had a satchel on it with the rest of her finds. “Including even the droids. And the four-legged beasts.”
“Mmm, don’t worry.” It took her a bit to balance all her stuff, then they started to walk down the row towards their ship. “And not all of them are sweet. Want a taste now? Because I do.” 
She let him take the topmost, red box from under her arm, one with non-sweets. He fumbled with the knot on the string that held the lid on, and she almost asked if they should stop walking when he managed to undo it. He offered them to her first, and she took a green one - her favourite. He got himself a red one that she knew had ginger in it. 
“It’s nice” he said, and she felt that doesn't really sums up the truth. Although, he didn’t have the nostalgia that she had for the candies, nor did he pick a particularly strong flavour. She just nodded, enjoying the numbing spiciness in her mouth. 
Fennec kept an eye on him, knowing he will pick out the spiciest one of the box sooner or later. It was the one she had started with, the green one; a colour he tended to gravitate towards, though not today as it seemed. They were on their third round of the colourful savoury treats and almost back to the ship. She knew he had found it when he abruptly stopped and grunted, then twisted away, trying to hide his face from her. She felt laughter building in her chest, something she haven’t felt in a long time. 
Soon he gave up and coughed, and probably would’ve cursed if he could. Her laughter was still far from reaching the surface but her smile was wider than it had been in a good while. 
“I see you found the Dragon’s Whisker.” He coughed again as an answer and covered his face, eyes watering, willing the pain to go away. Dragon’s Whisker pepper was strong even for someone who was used to very spicy food like her, and he was way less so. “It will pass soon, it’s not the lingering-in-your-throat type.” 
After a few moments he could open his eyes again, and he stared darts at her. It just made her smile even wider. Then he stepped closer to her, head tilted to the side, and she only had a fraction of a second to think “is he going to kiss me?!” before he did just that, pulling her close with a hand behind her head and pressing his lips firmly on hers. 
“Spicy, eh?” he asked as he withdrew. A giggle had bubbled up and burst out of her while they stepped apart. Her lips tingled slightly where they were touched by his, and for a few moments the tingling sharpened almost into pain before fading again. It was worth it. All of it. 
 Fennec left the boxes and her satchel on the lower deck before climbing through to the cockpit behind him. Fett took the co-pilot's chair that was usually hers, and looked at her like a loth-cat that had stepped into water, accusing and indignant at their misfortune at the same time. She was almost sorry for him, but it was just all too funny. 
She piloted the ship out of the atmosphere and he supplied the data for the hyperspace jump. As soon as the automation took over, he got up to go to the lower level. She had planned on staying where she was and giving him some room after her prank, but he turned back from the top of the ladder. 
“Do you have something for this?” He asked, and her face must have showed her momentary confusion because he elaborated. “For the pepper. I still feel like my mouth is burning.” 
Maybe his avoidance of spicy food that she observed wasn’t just a personal preference. With his injuries, he might have been less tolerant to pain caused by chemicals affecting surfaces of his body. Not to mention it might have brought up bad memories. Feeling a bit guilty, she nodded quickly and got out of her seat. 
 Once on the lower level, she rummaged around in the container for emergency rations. She always kept a box of powdered milk around especially for occasions like this. She dissolved a portion in a glass with less water than normal to make the milk thicker and made him start to sip it slowly before apologizing. He waved her concern away. 
“I’m fine, Fenn, really. I’m just not used to living on your volume of spiciness.” He smirked at her, and she knew him well enough to know they were all right. The smile came easier now, and to show she wasn’t sorry that much, she punched him lightly on the shoulder in a fist-bumpy way. It made him pretend to be hurt there too. 
“Thanks for the day off. I needed it” She meant it, even if just right then she suddenly couldn’t look at him. In the darkness of the ship and away from the lively crowds, back on their way to the everydays, the grief had came back for a moment and tried to sink it’s claws back into her. But it was easier to resist it and the heavy cloud passed as fast as it had come. She leaned back in her chair with a sigh and saw from the corner of her eye as Fett nodded and sipped his milk. It made her laugh again.
He sighed dramatically. 
“Yes, yes, mighty Boba Fett drinking his milk like a good boy. That’s another notch on your victory belt, isn’t it Shand?” He pretended to be grumpy about it, and she shamelessly grinned. Than he pointed at the pile of unopened boxes. 
“Are you planning on feeding me those too, or will you just keep them all for yourself now that I proved I can’t handle them?” 
She shook her head. 
“No, I got those for the staff.” 
“You’re evil” he commented fondly. She shot him a look of mock offence. 
“Only the red boxes are spicy, the others are sweets.” 
Now it was his turn to look indignantly. “You’re telling this to me now?!” He got up and picked out one of the pastel boxes. She started to object. 
“Those are not for you!” 
He was already fumbling with the knot on the string tied around the box. He looked up at her, face as innocent as he could manage. 
“I’m just collecting the import taxes.” 
She gave up and laughed. “Two pieces only! Or there wont be enough for everyone.” 
“You calculated that, right?” 
She didn’t, but he could think that; she just wanted to be contrarian to him. He finished undoing the knot and took a moment to survey the contents. Than he looked at her, eyes drawn into slits, suddenly suspicious. “Are these really sweets, or are you pulling my leg again?” 
“They are sweet. Promise. Can you smell the powdered sugar? The others had starch on them.” 
“You know my nose is mostly useless.” She did know, but these had so much sugar on them, she could smell them from where she was sitting. He took out a reddish piece and sniffed it. “Yes, sugar. I should’ve sniffed the others too, the lack of it might’ve given them away.” 
He popped the sweet into his mouth and closed his eyes as it was dissolving on his tongue. She let him enjoy the flavour for a moment before answering. 
“It would have, but it wouldn’t have mattered. I have mentioned that not all of them were sweet, remember? I thought you would disregard that and you did. Because I also told you they were candy and you took my word on that. Then you picked the ones with ginger and almonds, and those were kind of sweet, so nothing prepared you for the Dragon’s Whiskers. The thing is,” she waited for him to turn his face towards her again before explaining with a smirk, “as long as they are bite sized and considered a snack, we use the word candy. Local quirk. Sweet ones, savoury ones, spicy ones, the mix of those - here, they are all called candy.” 
“You” he jabbed a finger towards her “are an evil woman.” 
He took his second candy and closed the lid, watching her smile and shrug at him. It’s been a good day to be evil like that.

Highlights for this one include new assignments, a new race,  training being overhauled, new Ensnared Rose intro with various options, and more

If you don’t have RAGS and you need a copy to run it there’s one on the help page here or the one pinned on the patreon you can find a link to in the attached read me which is more up to date. If RAGS has never worked on your system despite the help page suggestions then it might be worth trying with one of the alternate players. There’s also improvements on there to the RAGS player that can also help with performance.

-Miscellaneous additions: ---Upgraded the Lago'mae trait package which was Slutty - Sex Addict - Seductive - Bimbo - Emotional to have Insatiable instead. ---Adjusted the Bimbo, Sissy, restraints, Obsessed Over, and Pariah penalties so overthrows should be not quite so instantaneous with those. Starting with Unproven as a Bimbo or Sissy could result in a day 1 loss. ---Made the favoured magic/elementalist trait in Full Custom wording less ambiguous.
-Bug fixes: ---Fix for Advanced Anal Training giving Obedient again. ---Fix for too many people having the dolled up ass. ---Fix for Nymph's not having a value. Which also fixed them getting increasingly valuable each time you estimated or examined them. ---Fix for the other reason why Nymph's weren't dominating slavers. ---Fix for Barbarous Bargains having an issue with having the wrong goals available when lacking in gold which could lead to getting stuck. ---Fix for an issue where part of the slave intros which you get before doing biomancy, corruption, making use of, etc. would be missing. While I was there I noticed that the recall bits don't really work if the slave came pre-trained like with the pirate booty so I've used some alternate wording to account for that which I've also used as a variation to the existing ones. I've also added some more text there for slaves who had previously not had specific ones like the cheerleaders.

-Miscellaneous additions: ---Added some new combined gender options for the slaver recruitment General Order. I also made 'Easy' for that more likely. ---No idea how but sometime before release the original intro that I remember being pretty good to arriving at the Marshlands following the letter got replaced by the ambush version. Also rather annoyingly it's apparently the one bit of text in the update that I didn't copy into docs for posterity, and I also can't find it in any of the backups, so I've had to rewrite it. ---Artful Whore is now an Exceptional on Corner and Pillow Talk. ---Anal Slut is now an Exceptional on Corner, Pillow Talk, Ponygirl Training, and both Anal Trainings. I've also made it so that if Anal Slut is an Exceptional on an assignment you'll get a Critical bonus for having Pleasure Enhancement-Ass or Dolled Up from the Neck Down. You don't need Anal Slut to get those bonuses but they do stack if you do. ---Added some extra ass examine description For Dolled Up Neck Down to reflect this. ---Added Crafter: Culinary (C:Cu) as a Success of Forage Supplies. ---If Dominated/Obedient will not count Submissive as a penalty on assignments. ---Sudden Betrayal and Whore Makers are no perma remove assignments with no chance of an unexpected return. ---Witches will always be permanently removed with no chance of return. ---Added an explanation of what Head Slaves do in Help. ---Added a note to Green Soul to confirm the time reduction stacking does work by having more than one. ---Despoiler's 'Reward' should now correctly count as chastity in all respects. It will also count as the belt from Quick as you Like apart from not having the morale loss. Added a chance to gain morale from that belt too, and added a bit of extra text to both results to reflect exactly why the morale is going up or down. ---Oozes will be less likely to inflict full gender transformation. Updated the Gathering Tide aspect to prevent it for all oozes entirely. ---Made it impossible to convince a golem to become a bed warmer or camp bitch. ---Slavers with slave training should now get the value estimate bonuses for having done that training.

v0.943: New Assignments: ---The third and final part of Thornspire with a commission generously funded by a patron. Has some truly crazy potential rewards given all you need to do to get there.
-Miscellaneous additions: ---Got a comment about the lack of variety, length, and facials. After checking there were two causes for this. Facials were mainly a thing for titfucks only while most of the lengthier blowjob texts required training, obedience, or other factors so often they were defaulting to the basic result. Due to this I've adapted the titfuck facials so they can now occur during blowjobs. I've also added alternate options for when the blowjob result would normally change to the default one. Some of these are different enough they'll appear as an alternative to what would normally have been the result if the requirements were met. Also there's some other touch ups and more minor additions in there which don't just apply to blowjobs. ---Added a notification if a trait is boosted by Arcane Winds on assignments. ---Added some better formatting to highlight when getting a new assignment from an assignment. Also corrected some where it said a plural assignments when you were just going one. ---No more getting out of the Meddling Fools region debuff by just removing the assignment. ---Expert Fellatrix will no longer remove Dominant/Switch, and if so will not grant Obedient on the Critical or Submissive on the Success. So now you can put a slave through Advanced Dominance Training and then still get them to be really good at blowjobs without losing their dominance. ---For consistency you'll get the blonde demi-angel examine and not the black hair one if you're playing a demi-angel yourself.
-Bug fixes: ---Fix for the second part of Thornspire having the wrong display name. ---Fix for the first of Thornspire applying too much Xp to individual slavers on the Critical Success ---Fix for the Ensnared Rose letter turning up or the Shuffled Deck starting if you're away on an assignment. ---Fix for the slaver from the Ensnared Rose letter options having the same identifier as the last character generated resulting in duplication. ---Fix for Severina's art if playing as her yourself. ---Fix for Shuffled Deck where no one could be assigned to that one. ---Fix for the Featured Patrons text appearing when you change nicknaming. ---Fix for some total mind breaks such as from Domination not also removing Learning related traits like Educated or Folklorist. ---Fix for an issue where forced not male slavers could be generated as males anyway. ---Fix for tails being fondled twice. ---Fix for Scavenging rank up giving you Infiltration specialized slavers instead of Scavenging ones. ---Fix for everything to do with dreams being turned off. That affected the later parts of Quick as you Like, Heavenly Debauchery, Puppet Leader enforced sexy times, and being Possessed Nightly Activities. ---Fix for the no one else around check if choosing to ambush on the letter encounter. ---Fix for not getting a rare race when choosing the hardest option on Slaver Caravan. ---Fix for Keeping an eye on the slave on Price of Freedom overwriting the odds. ---Fix for Fel Tide not generating a Hold Back the Dark assignment. ---Fix for Alice not getting her training options if you get her from the letter rather than by Full Custom. ---Fix for Alice and Bles missing some training options along with adding some checks to ensure things don't go wrong if they become a slave. ---Experimental fix for armour tracking issues. Not 100% certain, but I couldn't replicate it. I also ran a tracker for pretty much everything that adds or subtracts armour and it all seemed to work properly. ---Some text fixes.
v0.942:
New Assignments: ---A special assignment for one of the uniques you can either start as or find on an assignment. You'll need to do something, or more specifically have something not happen, but if you can do that long enough this will become available. Has two commissions both funded by a patron and has one of the most unique uniques yet. The unique or you can gain an upgraded version of an existing aspect with a bunch more power and text. ---Advanced Anal Training. Will make the slave more likely to be used for anal and will again reduce the effects during sexy times.
Legion: ---Has a new commission for their examine which also has a version so they can now be Futanari as well as Males. This will be used for an assignment down the line so they won't be quite so tricky to find. ---Updated all the specific Legion text when they're refusing to do things. ---Updated their dialogue titles and swears. ---Significantly improved Legion starting traits to reflect their power. ---Expanded their lore page with another paragraph. ---Updated their skin colours. ---Updated their physical description which includes losing their tails.
Sable Masquerade: ---Thanks to a generous patron there's a new commission with a whopping five different variations. Specifically the assignment itself, the unique you can get on it as slaver and as a slave, a crop for the precursor to that assignment which is Treachery Most Foul. That crop is used for the unique as a slaver you can get on that assignment, and there's another version of that crop where she is a slave.
-Miscellaneous additions: ---Reworded Land Piracy Success to correct some unclear wording and to flesh it out a bit more. ---Updated the Ensnared Rose Letter Ambush text if you don't have anyone else around when you go. ---The Ensnared Rose Letter won't turn up if you're not currently able to follow the instructions such as due to being wounded. ---Lasciel Oathbreaker now gets a value bonus from both of her races rather than neither of them. ---Updated the Ooze racial to reflect the unpredictable effects of their touches on non-Oozes. During sexy times they now have a chance (increased by low condition and/or willpower) to apply one of the Blessings of Perversion corruptions (not including some of the more full on corrupting themed ones) to their partner. This can also happen on the new Special Ever Forest assignment and also on the Deluge of Oozes disaster.
-Bug fixes: ---Critical fix for the slave disappearing issues and other serious wonkiness resulting in following the Ensnared Rose letter. ---Fix for Nymph's gender limiter. ---Fix for getting more than one slaver if you find the unique on Adversarial Affairs. ---Fix for Conjured Companion not turning off if you lose Magic: Summoner (M:Su) ---Fix for Basic Anal Training Fail saying it gives the training. ---Some text fixes.
v0.941:
Ensnared Rose Introduction: ---Rather than available from the start, the Ensnared Rose will now be introduced early on in the first month. This will also introduce as part of normal gameplay the concepts of the Town, Tavern, Mercenaries, and the Marshlands to new players who might otherwise have missed that option. ---You can ignore it and not have access for that playthrough, or you can get a new encounter which can provide a number of bonuses to starting off. ---You can either get no strings attached gold, more gold as a loan (which can kickstart the debt storyline), a slaver (potentially one of the existing recruitable uniques if you don't take her at the start), information on some better quality assignments in all regions, or a special outfit. ---Subs, and especially those with the Exhibitionist or Pretty Maid aspects will have a much harder time not taking the outfit.
-Miscellaneous additions: ---Sissies can now have their cock enhanced by Biomancy to a set limit. So you can correct them if you accidentally make them too small and are worried about the risk of making them a full woman, but they're also not going to be challenging even an average Futa anytime soon. ---Asanei slavers will now use the Adversarial Affairs commission for their examine until I can get something less specific for them.  
-Bug fixes: ---Fix for a potentially missing skill check for unchangable attire. ---Fix for the bisected now being counted as unchangeable attire for skill checks. ---Fix for being able to get out of Ettersilk or the corrupted armour by trading outfits. ---Fix for Bimboborn still being an option on level up. ---Fix for Weald Autonomy rejecting slaves in the third slot. ---Fix for the Amazons on Barbarous Bargains nicking a big chunk of your supplies if you trade by Other Means. It also no longer takes supplies to go on. ---Fix for the drow tattooist going over the top on guys at the Tavern. She's pouting, but has promised at last to knock it off. ---Fix for the updated Advanced Obedience Training getting the races the wrong way round. ---Fix for Adversarial Affairs getting mixed up with The Elvish Art.
v0.94:
New Race: ---Thornheart Nymphs have been added with a new Rare assignment in the Ever Forest. Can be Female or Futanari with commissioned art for both. ---With their racial will be very powerful though they do have some definite drawbacks making them quite the double edged sword. ---Has specific text to reflect their alternate way of inflicting Domination. ---Once found via the assignment will then start appearing rarely like any other character can as both slavers and slaves. ---Can be playable if one takes over the encampment after an overthrow event, or you can start as one as one of the Promoted Slaver options (TF Edition only). If you start as one then Nymphs will be in the generator from the start without you needing to do their assignment.
New Assignments (not counting the Nymphs one): ---An Uncommon Trading Amazon themed assignment in the Ever Forest. Has four goals where it can work similarly to the standard Great Plains Trading assignment including options for an alternate payment plan other than gold or supplies. Includes special text for Submissive playthroughs even if you don't go as the alternate payment plan though there is a different special Disaster if you do. Also includes alternate text in some of the results for being Insatiable, being a wright, or having other ways to have limitless sexual energy, along with if you take  a pair of slavers who won't ask questions about what you get up to on this one. ---A reduced rarity Marauding legal themed assignment in the City of Aversol. Thank you to the patron who funded the two commissions used for this one. Includes the possibility of recruiting the hidden unique recruitable slaver featured in the art.
New Commissions: ---Decadence Like No Other. Features a new race of beastkin who will be added in a later update. Has non-female variants that will be used if you don't send a female on that assignment and will be used as slave Examines down the line. ---Zharr females. Plan is to use it for a Zharr themed assignment on the Dreadsea Coast down the line. ---Nest of Vipers, also used for Fel Tainted Lamia slavers. Has alternate versions used for Fel Tainted Lamia futanari, and Fel Tainted Lamia slaves. Also has a crop for non-Fel Tainted Lamia that I'll use for now until I can get something more suitable. Will be used down the line as a follow up to A Brief Foray. ---Drow female slavers, with a less dressed version used for Drow female slaves. Plan is to use her for a new start, and thank you to the patron who submitted this commission. ---Driders. Will be used for a new Deep Mountains assignment eventually, and does come with a zoomed version. I've also kept the Scout the City version as an Examine for Driders with Submissive. ---Fallen female slavers, with a less dressed versions used for Fallen female slaves. Also has alternate versions to replace the Demi-Angel female slaver and slavers examine to distinguish her from the unique that used the same commission. If they don't the slaver can now pick up Submissive (Sub) along with a damaged reputation. ---Basic Bimbo Critical Success now gives Sex Addict (Sex) instead of Insatiable (Sex+) ---Advanced Bimbo Critical Success only applies Insatiable (Sex+) with Resilient (Res) and 80+ Condition. This is to make that trait more of a specific thing for Trollops and Lago'Mae rather than being quite so easy to maintain. ---Advanced Obedience Training now as text on the Critical Success if already Obedient (Sub+). I don't think that's possible given the training paths, but it's there now just in case. ---Advanced Obedience Training Critical Success only applies Obedient (Sub+) with 80+ Willpower along with Submissive (Sub) which it need before to make it trickier to get so relatively early on in a slave's training, and to make the other sources of getting that trait more desirable. There's alternate text to both versions based on Willpower if they have Submissive (Sub) going into the assignment. ---Advanced Lesbian Critical Success can give Lesbian Desires if the slave doesn't get it on Basic version. Added a estimate value bonus to Lesbian Desires. ---Advanced Blowjob Training also now can give Cocksucking Natural on the Critical Success if they didn't get it on the basic version. ---Advanced Dominance Training now removes Sympathetic (Sym) on both Critical Success and Success results. ---To replace the aspect Bimboborn which Advanced Bimbo Critical Success used to give I've added a new aspect to that result called Ditzy Doll. This aspect will also replace Bimboborn as a Level Up option so that aspect will only be available from Corruption for now to reflect the nature of that aspect being about having one of the naughtier powers watching over them no matter the trouble that they might get into. Ditzy Doll is the first aspect to scale in power with the character's experience which is an idea I like and one that I'll revisit when I get round to adding more aspects. Like with slaver gear upgrades you'll use assignment ranks up instead, and yes you can take this aspect on a Level Up unlike Bimboborn. ---To expand on the mechanic where mantras could be embedded by having someone with Hypnotic (Hyp), Dominator (Dtr), Magic: Corruption (M:Co) (also Corrupter), or Malevolence (Mal) twenty four new Critical and Success results now have the potential to ad the relevant mantras at various stages from Light all the way to Fully Embedded. ---Added a small chance for a mantra to be applied during those specific training Critical Success results even without the usually needed traits to represent an especially powerful breakthrough. ---Heal Slut Training will no longer give Lay on Hands if they already have the usual maximum of five aspects. ---Heal Slut Training, Basic Titfuck Training, Advanced Titfuck Training, and Ponygirl Training are now all counted as Obedience Training assignments for the purpose of getting a bonus from the Obedience Mantra. ---Ponygirl Training now adds Resilient (Res) on both Success results. ---Removed the feminine pronouns on the various Blowjob results that assumed the trainee was a 'her' to reflect it can be done by males too. Exquisite Fellatrix Training Critical Success now has specific male slave text so you can now have a Prince of Blowjobs to go with the Queen. ---Exquisite Fellatrix Training on a Disaster now sets the slave back to Basic Blowjob Training, though not if you treat then gently or they are Obedient. ---Updated some formatting for better visibility, and some other more minor text additions not mentioned above.
-Miscellaneous additions: ---Due to adding Thornheart Nymphs more than doubled the number of Horned One female first names and surnames for both genders in the generator including some specific ones just for Nymphs. ---Added Kitsune, Lago'Mae, Shadow Outcasts, and Asanei to the rare races table so they'll be slightly more common than before where they only had a very low chance to be found on their usual tables, and will now have a better chance to be found as higher quality characters. ---To make the Golem Commander unique commission more specific I've changed the Wastelander slave commission that uses the same art to a closer crop than before. ---Increased the Will/Condition loss for slaves if they'd get that instead of getting Shattered/Exhausted ---Adjusted the Shattered/Exhaustion calculations so the risk has more of an effect each way, if it's not for wounding/removal then being Aggressive will no longer make things worse while Fleet or Flying can no longer help avoiding being overly tired. So no longer will being able to ride a pegasus help you out in the glorybox. ---Asanei have lost their crest in favour of the hair-tentacles in the commissions, and the come in three variations. ---Updated the lamia lore page to expand it, and to ditch some obsolete information about their race. ---Made a change so Ecstatica should stack better with Fae Flying, Size Queen'd, and Sapphic High. ---Replaced Sapphic High on the Fully Embedded Sissy mantra (which they weren't getting anyway) with a new effect that allows a slaver using them to count as Dominant if it would be a positive on the next assignment. ---Changed the wording of Fully Embedded Bimbo mantra to represent they can get extra mantras later via training. ---Lesbian Hypnotic Mantra is now available to Non-Males with a different version with the same effects to reflect that. FFXIV Marketboard Guide.
AKA: How to level up your crafting classes and make a little money on the side to support said leveling.
About the author of this guide:  I have over 150 million gil at the moment, and am lazily working my way toward 200 million.  I am an omni-crafter, all crafts and gatherers at lvl 70.  When I bought my large house in Shirogane, my highest level crafter was 53.  I had 85 million gil at the time.  I know what I’m doing, I know how to succeed.
There is no one way to succeed.  Consider this guide really a set of tips to help you get a jump on leveling your crafting and gathering.  This guide assumes you’re starting with everything at level 1 and goes from there.
It takes work, a lot of work on your part.  But it’s quite rewarding as you watch your classes level up and your bank account increase at the same time.  If you’re hoping this guide will help you get rich quick with no effort on your part, this is probably not your guide.
ONE:  The first thing you need to do is gather shards.  You are going to need a shit ton of shards.  You can buy them off the marketboard if they’re cheap, but if they run up over 100 gil each, don’t bother.  Farm your own.  
Set your retainers to botany and mining.  Equip them with a pick and an axe, and start sending them out for shards.  (You can buy ventures with GC seals, and Allied Seals.  Stock up on them, as many as you can.)  It is worth it to gear them up as they level (ever 10 levels after the retainer hits lvl 20 is my recommendation).  Eventually they’ll be able to bring you back 60 shards every 40 minutes.  
When you hit 9999 shards, shake off the excess onto a retainer and keep sending them out for shards.  Now you’re ready for step two.
TWO: Level up all your crafters to lvl 20.  Do this by crafting items at the starting stages and turning in class items.  (Most of the items you need are buyable from the vendor at the crafting area.)  When you hit 10 on your first class, you’ll unlock Quick Synthesis.  This is ungodly for leveling.  You only need to synthesis something once, and then you can set your character to create 99 of that item and let ‘em go while you go get coffee or do laundry or something.  
Tips: 
Don’t bother with crafting leves at this stage of the game.  It’s not hard to get to lvl 20 without touching them.  It’s time consuming, but not hard.  
You’ll get all the starting gear you need from your class quests.  Don’t bother buying gear at this stage.  If anything, you can make whatever you need as you go.
These classes will all provide shards at the first quests.  Make sure you have room for them. If you already have 9999 shards, you’ll just lose these extras. Offload around 2000 shards onto a retainer’s inventory so you have room.
If you have the Ala Mhigan earrings, wear them.  They work for crafting and gathering just as well as war and magic classes.
THREE: Take stock of what you can make.  By level twenty, these items either are now available to you or are very close.
Carpenter: Walnut Lumber (Lvl 25, a bit of a risk but worth it.)
Blacksmith/Armorsmith: (Iron Ingots lvl 16 and Iron Rivets, lvl 18.)
Goldsmithing: Silver Ingots (lvl 23)
Leatherworking: Aldgoat Leather (lvl 17)
Weaving: Dew Thread (lvl 23)
Alchemy: Mortar (lvl 20) and eventually Natron (lvl 25).
Cooking: Grape Juice. (Lvl 21, has only one ingredient, easy to mass produce to get levels.)
SOME of these items are great to sell on the marketboard.  Others are not.  I can tell you right now I had great experiences selling the following: Walnut Lumber, Silver Ingots, Dew Thread, Mortar and Natron.  
Four:  Now go farm up the mats you need that cannot be bought off a vendor.
Walnut Lumber:  Gather up at least 300 logs to turn into 100 lumber.  Go nuts with this, the more you have the better off you’ll be.  
Silver Ore or Effervescent Water:  Effervescent water sells great on its own if you want something to just mine up and sell as is.  Or you can turn it into Natron for a bit more profit.
Limestone.  I’ve found Limestone always sells high.  Mortar is particularly popular for making furniture items.  
Noble Grapes: Check the marketboard for these, it may be worth it to just buy them if they’re cheap rather than waste time gathering them when you could be gathering more walnut logs.
Aldgoat Skin: Check the MB for this too.  It may be cheap enough to buy rather than gather.  Since gathering takes you going around killing aldgoats near camp drybone.  (If you do gather them, save any aldgoat horns you get, they’ll come in handy later.)
Alumen: Necessary to make aldgoat leather.
Diremite web: Pain in the ass to gather yourself.  Buy off marketboard or run Toto-rak over and over again and hope you get some.
At this point, you should have enough shards and your retainers should be high enough level to gather other things for you. Send botanists out for walnut logs, and miners out for silver ore, alumen, limestone or effervescent water.
DO NOT BOTHER FARMING FOR IRON ORE.  IT IS BOUGHT OFF VENDORS EASILY.  WASTE OF YOUR TIME TO UNLESS YOU JUST REALLY ARE A PENNY PINCHER AND ENJOY GATHERING.
TIPS:  
Put on an audiobook to listen to, or have the TV nearby playing a movie or binge watch your favorite show while you gather.  Makes it less tedious.  
Take breaks.  Get up and get something to eat, stay hydrated.  Walk away and do some how chores for a bit.  The gathering part takes time.  
Set a limit for yourself.  Like you’re only going to get 300 walnut logs and then go do something else for awhile. Or, set a timer like you’ll farm for 30 minutes and then take a break.  Run a dungeon, play another game, do housework, something to mix it up a bit.  
This stage of the game is different for everyone. Some people like the grind of gathering, other people find it boring and tedious.  Don’t feel like you’re a failure if you can’t spend more than a short amount of time on this.  Pace yourself, do what you can, and then stop before you burn out.
Five:  Now for the crafting part.  Start working on everything you have gathered. Make walnut logs into lumber, turn silver and iron ore into ingots, diremite web into dew thread, aldgoat skin and alumen into aldgoat leather, noble grapes into grape juice, limestone into mortar.  
Once everything is made, head for the market board and price your items.  See what’s selling decently, what’s selling low.  Also be sure to check what the history is on the item in question. How much has it sold for in the past? How often does it sell? 
This is where your marketboard savvy should begin to take shape.   If you need to, keep track of sales trends on a spreadsheet.  Very useful in the beginning as you are learning the ropes, and will likely become intrinsic later.  
Start putting up auctions on your vendors of the items you think are most likely to sell.  Don’t put up stacks of 99 if you can help it.  Some people like big stacks like that but others may just want a few of an item.  (Also you can possibly sell it for a bit more than the lowest price if they have stacks of 99 up and you’re selling a stack of 20.)
Tips:  
Make sure you check the history of the item in question.  Look to see how often the item sells.  Is the last time it sold back a month ago?  Probably not a hot item right now.  Check the next item in your bags.  Your auctions are prime real estate, you want to occupy them with items that sell relatively well.  Reserve your slower moving items for times you’re low on the fast ones.  
Always have your retainers full.  When you go to bed, they should each have 20 auctions up.  Soon as something sells, put up something to replace it.  
Keep an eye on the going rates.  If it normally sells around 600 gil a piece, but there’s none up right now?  Don’t get greedy, selling it for 5000 gil each will just get you undercut pretty fast.  Try something like twice the last going rate to start with.  So, in this example, something that was selling at 600 gil a piece, put your auction up for 1200 a piece.  This is trial and error and every server is different.  
A watched auction never sells.  Don’t obsessively check your auctions to see if you’ve been undercut every 5 minutes.  Put them up and WALK AWAY.  
Know prime shopping times.  If it’s early in the morning, there won’t be as many sales.  Don’t bother undercutting just yet.  When you get home from work, great time to log in, check auctions and undercut as that’s the time people are getting home and logging in and buying stuff.  Don’t bother with it again until you go to bed.

Rock Paper Monsters - Designer Interview with Tim Balogh

Tell me about Rock Paper Monsters.
Rock Paper Monsters is a card game that I have been working on for over 3 years. It started out as a mobile game idea even earlier than that, but evolved into a card game after assessing my resources and options. The gameplay is turn-based, where players take turns playing the cards from their hands into the field of play to counter their opponent’s cards.
There are 2 types of cards: Monster and Bonus cards. The Monster cards have 1 of 3 damage types: Rock, Paper, or Claws. Similar to Rock Paper Scissors, each card has a strength and weakness against one of the other types. Each Monster card also has a point value. The object of the game is to have the higher point total amongst all your Monster cards than your opponent. The winner receives a Monster Bite, and the first player to 10 Monster Bites wins.
Where did the idea come from?
The concept came where most of my crazy ideas come from: 2-3am while I’m dead asleep. I usually jolt awake with an idea, log it in a notebook or on an app, and then lay wide awake until morning waiting to share my idea with my wife. She’s gotten used to this process over the years. This is the first of my crazy ideas to actually go to market.
Who did the illustrations and card designs?
Before answering this question, I am going to stress that I am not an artist or illustrator by any stretch of the word. I have a very vivid imagination, but am limited in how I can get what I think out into the world. I created every Monster and the card designs/layouts using the tools I had available: PowerPoint and MS Paint. I’m sure the artists out there just twitched… In an effort to make do with what I had, these are the tools I used, but the real wealth came from the communities and friends I made that are the true artists and game designers that I found through The Game Crafter and multiple groups on Facebook. This game would not be what it is today without their help.
The Bonus card illustrations were done by a young artist named Sydney White. I needed some help to convey these actions and she did a brilliant job creating an illustration that perfectly reflected what I was looking for from a few words.
What did you learn from creating this game from the ground up?
I think the most important thing is to have fun throughout the entire learning process. It is indeed a learning process. Be a sponge to all feedback and don’t take the criticism as a personal attack. People normally respond because they care enough that they want your game to be the best it can be. For those that are more brutal in their feedback and not necessarily constructive, try to stay “above the line” and pry for more information. You’ll never please everyone, but do not dwell on the negativity.
Also, accept your limitations. Know where your strengths are and seek guidance and support where you struggle. This is my first game I’ve created and the first draft looks nothing like the game today. It evolved from feedback I’ve received from those that have done this multiple times, maybe even hundreds of times before. The more eyes on your progress, the better the end result.
Finally, don’t overthink things. Create a prototype using whatever you have available and play it with someone. Anyone. The further down the path you go, the more varied you want your audience to be to help with blind testing. Once you feel comfortable, then start focusing on the look and feel of your game. It’s easy to stay in your own head and focus on what you think is the best, but rarely is that the game the rest of the world would be interested in playing. Write your rules out, and then read them out loud to someone. Do they understand what you’re saying? Have them read the rules with no input from you. Are they playing the game the way you intended?
Trust those around you as they will be the best resources to making your game a success. I say this knowing that my game is just a sliver in this world of tabletop gaming and is likely to fade away, but I’m proud that I made something. I’m proud that I learned. I’m proud that gave it my all.

✿ It’s time for a MMO!AU update, featuring... Jaehee!

You are a profoundly busy college student juggling both school and work, so you haven’t had time to try Mystic Message Online - an incredibly popular virtual reality mmorpg - though you’ve heard your friend from school gushing about it basically non-stop since you met him. Said friend’s birthday is coming up though, and he’s ALWAYS wanted you to play MMO, so you decide that… hey, why not pick up a copy, level up a character a little, and then surprise him on his special day by telling him your screen-name so you can play together? It’d make him happy, and said friend is pretty cute, anyway. You can take a little bit of a break from work to have fun with him.
You go to the store and, by sheer chance, are awarded a special, milestone promotional code that will give you a number of rare items, along with a fully leveled character to try the game out with. Sounds great, right? You get home, launch the game, put on the special VR headset that makes everything feel so real, and put in you code.
after a flash of light, something weird happens.
You find that you’re logged into a max-level character with an inventory full of strange items, including a peculiar letter that you open up and read. All it says, in a loopy, elegant script, is you are the key that will unlock this world, and it promptly vanishes after you’ve read it, dissolving into particles that are carried off by the wind.
You don’t have much time to think about that, though, because you are IMMEDIATELY besieged by messages in the guild chat, one of them being from Miss Coffee.

Jaehee suspects you to be a hacker at first. There’s no way Rika could be online! She’s dead! So obviously you’re a gold farmer who’s managed to crack her password and is going to use her character as a bot to accrue vast amounts of in-game currency to sell for real money on dubious websites. You are, for your part, beyond startled, and can barely figure out how to send messages to people. Everything is new, confusing, and the UI isn’t... really that intuitive. So when you finally manage to explain your story to everyone, you’re pretty much at your breaking point, and start crying as you say, over and over, “I don’t know what’s going on!”
Jaehee backs off a bit, and after discussing it briefly with Jumin, both he and Jaehee come to your location and try to figure out what’s going on.
You tell your story, and Jumin says that he’s going to go try to contact V. Not only has this development got him concerned, but apparently just before you logged on a strange update hit, one that none of the RFA - even Seven, the lead programmer of the game - were aware was going out.
Jaehee asks if she should come with him, but Jumin says no - that her job right now is to calm you down by whatever means necessary.
Bless her soul, but Jaehee doesn’t really know what to do here, so she offers to help you teach you how to play the game. You’re a bit intimidated, considering this is the woman who was, until about thirty minutes ago, accusing you of being both a threat and a hacker, and Jaehee herself isn’t the most... warm and cuddly person. (Though, you do exchange real names quickly - Miss Coffee laughs when you call her by her username, and tells you to just call her ‘Jaehee.’) Still! She does her best, despite sighing over it a bit, and she takes you to a low level area to teach you the mechanics.
Immediately, you’re impressed by her ability to keep you alive.
Being a complete novice, you manage to get yourself into more than one life-threatening scrape, but Jaehee expertly keeps you safe. She shields you, protects you, casts buffs on you, and shackles a mini-boss whose attention you manage to pull and speeds you up so you can run away. It’s amazing, and you tell her so, gushing about how lucky you are to have her with you! And Jaehee...

Following your arrival to the game, no one can log out... and Jumin cannot contact V, as he was not online when it happened.
The RFA panics. Jaehee sends messages to the guild, trying to keep everyone calm, until Jumin and Seven make a public announcement saying to meet up at the guild hall. Everyone arrives, and almost immediately, arguments break out. Where’s V? Yoosung says. Jumin says to wait on that, they have other things to discuss first. Why are you acting like the leader now, Jumin? says Zen, who then accuses him of trying to snipe ownership of the guild. it’s chaos, and even after Jumin manages to wrangle everyone into some semblance of order, no one can agree on what to do. Try to contact V? Try to investigate this strange Mint Eye cult that there are rumors about? Drop all of that, and instead focus on helping everyone who’s frightened and confused about being trapped in the game?
Jaehee looks exhausted, as she’s trying to take down meeting notes, and you slip out to get her some coffee.
You return, and when you bring it to her, she looks at you like she’s seen heaven itself. It’s then that Jumin makes a proclamation.
He and Seven are going to investigate the circumstances behind the strange update, while the rest of you - Zen, Yoosung, Jaehee... and you - are going to try to revitalize the RFA and help the players who need it.
Jaehee blanches, because Jumin is mainly looking at her when he says this, and she knows that he’s expecting her to do most of the stressful, boring work... but you tell her not to worry, because you’re going to do your best to help her. Whatever she needs - you’ll find a way to get it done.
Events and story arcs
The Suffering of a Bureaucrat - Jaehee’s first order of business is to reach out to the powerful guild leaders of Cherry Hill - where the RFA’s guild-hall is located - to try to work out some kind of over-arcing peace accord. See, chaos has enveloped the city, with all of the players panicking about being trapped in the game and not knowing what to do, so Jaehee figures that first thing’s first - if the population of Mystic Message Online is going to be living here, then the players need to organize themselves into some sort of governing body.
It’s difficult, at first, because everyone has different ideas about what they want to do, and many players are taking the chance to try to scam each other out of as many resources as possible. But with your help - and your bizarre ability to charm other people and say exactly what they need to hear - you and Jaehee manage to organize a militia (to catch and imprison PK-ers and scammers) a ‘poorhouse’ (for players who have begun sleeping inside because all the inn-rooms are full and they can’t afford housing), and a research institute (for players to begin working out the rules of their new world - for there seem to be rules, and ways of crafting things and creating spells that were never originally in the game...)
It’s exhausting, tiring, and Jaehee has so many people to bargain with, reason with, and talk to every day. But you cheer her on, you tell her that she’s doing a great job, and slowly, she starts to open her heart to you and keep you as her closest confidant.
The Magnanimity of a Healer - Jaehee has become an important cornerstone of Cherry Hill’s governing body, which means that she is often the one figuring out how to put those who petition the Parliament in touch with people that can help them with their problems. One such person is one of the scientists at the Keyboard Research Facility, who thinks he might have figured out a way to fix the broken teleportation system!

I’m Late, I’m Late, for a Very Important... Date?! - Jaehee has been working herself to the bone keeping everything secure in Cherry Hill while Zen and Jumin run around searching for answers. She’s exhausted, and you decide... it’s time to go out and have some fun! You visit Jaehee’s office, grab her hand, and drag her off to go exploring the city with you.
She says she can’t! She says she has work to do! She has paperwork to complete that’ll be late if she doesn’t finish it now! But you say NOPE, TIME FOR A BREAK, and you take her... out on a date!
Coffee! Cake! A relaxing walk through the park! You go to a street carnival that Zen has set up to provide entertainment to the citizens of Cherry Hill, and you both get to watch Zen act in the Blossom Amphitheater. It’s an amazing day, where Jaehee looks so happy... and in the late afternoon, she takes a nap with her head on your lap.
She looks so cute when she’s sleeping... And you find yourself feeling something very odd for your friend.
The Heart of a Crafter - Acting on the Parliament’s orders, Jaehee goes to visit the Keyboard Research Institute and attend a lecture they’re giving about how to create new crafting recipes. It’s been over six months since Day Zero, and the population of MMO is starting to really understand how to create new objects that were never present in the vanilla version of the game. New spells, new rituals - since Day Zero, crafting has become unbelievably robust and creative, with people compiling information about the game’s lore to figure out new uses for items. You attend the lecture with Jaehee, and notice that she looks...

Talking to her after, you find out that she was always really interested in pursuing a crafting profession, but she was never able to, because she was so busy running after Jumin and being his pocket healer. You basically yell at the entirety of Parliament, telling them that they need to give Jaehee a LOT more workers for her to delegate assignments to, and they need to stop treating her like a miracle woman who can fix all of their problems.
Cowed, Jaehee is given some leave and an entire team of interns to bully, expanding her free-time exponentially.
Now that Jaehee can actually take a break... you and her start talking about what kind of other areas of the game you want to explore. Jaehee, still remembering that amazing cafe you took her to on your... uh, outing, says that she’d be interested in learning how to brew drinks. It’d be a perfect profession for Miss Coffee, right?
You and Jaehee start attending classes, and go on many adventures to acquire ingredients for the best coffee and sweets in all of MMO. Nearly a year after Day Zero, you save up enough money together to buy a property to run a cafe... and quietly, Jaehee admits to you that - that this is fun. This is so much fun. This is more fun than she’s ever had in real life...
Being here, with you, and having you as a partner? She... might not really want to go back to reality anymore... because she’s in love with you and this life you have together now. In fact, now she’s kind of scared of Jumin and Seven finding an answer, because it might mean that she can’t find you again!
In the cafe that you own together, with the woman that you love, you promise her that no matter where they are - whether it’s the virtual world or the real one - that you’ll always be her partner... and you’ll always find her, no matter what.

“What do you think of this area?” asked James, nodding toward the game.
 “It’s gross!” I happily exclaimed.
 Our characters were still in the demon’s repugnant lands, surrounded by vegetation that clearly decayed while still alive.  If Emma could jump inside of the game, she surely would be beating the demon for doing this as she healed the plants.  Fighting her in a lush area would be terrifying if she were serious about hurting me.
 “T-the animals are m-missing.” muttered Raine.  Her hand was gently rubbing her kitten, Pufflewink, as she spoke.
 “Ah.  Yeah.  They’ve probably been warped and are now following the demon, wherever he is.” explained James, the only one of us to have faced a demon in the game.
 “Is he as cute as Raine?” I teased, though I wondered what the world would become if Raine was out to destroy everything.  Well, destroyed, probably.  She certainly would demolish whatever did this if she could hop into the game.
 Chuckling, James said, “No, not even close.  He’s quite horrific to behold.”
 “That’s good.  I don’t think I could summon up the will to attack Raine, except for hugs.” I replied, wishing she’d lean forward enough for me to see her reactions.
 “Att-attack hugs are qui-quite vi-vicious.” mumbled Raine.  She sounded happy, though she could just be excited that we were close to our goal.
 “Oh, you know it!” I exclaimed, jumping out of my seat to tickle her while careful not to disturb Pufflewink.
 Had Raine wanted, she could have been across the city with her kitten safely in her arms, but she good-naturedly accepted the tickles.
 “You’re lucky she didn’t pull the smithing hammer like she did on that goblin.” teased James.
 “She uses the frying pan on me.  Doesn’t hurt nearly as much.” I replied.
 Still giggling, Raine said, “M-makes a n-nice sound.”  Then she abruptly went silent.
 My eyes shot to the screen, and I listened.  The ears of a vampire were sharp, even one as young as me, but Raine’s ears were obviously much, much better.  Seconds passed before I noticed the rumbling.
 “C-cosette!  En-enemies!” exclaimed Raine in a loud whisper.
 I jumped into my seat, morphing my body to slide into my place without a sound.  Before I was fully seated, I was already moving Madeleine stealthily onward.  If we didn’t manage to get that meteorite, our night had been wasted.  I knew the others were behind me, despite the lack of noise.  As we moved, I caught sight of mutated bears, easily four times the size they should be.  We carefully avoided them, not wanting a confrontation with dangerous-looking opponents right now.
 Text appeared on my screen, describing a pungent stench.  Glancing at Raine’s screen, I saw that she was using some item to create the smell.  Minutes ticked by as the bears remained unpleasantly close, despite the stench.  Hopefully, the smell was keeping them from following our scent.  Was dumb luck driving them nearby, or was something else happening?
 The front doors of the house opened, and the quiet steps of Portentia approached us, crossing the hall and entering the ballroom where we were gaming.  “Oh wow.  Where are you, guys?” she asked as she inspected our screens.
 James took care of replying, explaining what we were doing in sign language, so his voice wouldn’t count as creating noise in the game.  Aaliyah had written this game with seemingly perfect voice recognition.  Even Raine had told me that she had never caught the game mistaking a voice, and she seemed to catch everything.
“I never thought I’d feel so tense playing a game.” I admitted minutes later after letting out the breath I had been holding.  I could hold my breath indefinitely, but the dramatic effect of releasing it loudly was fun.
 Portentia laughed and said, “The game is pretty awesome.  I never thought I’d get into a video game till I started.  Looks like you guys are too far away for me to catch up.”
 “Oh.  Go to the guild hall.  You can use the traveling stone to come straight to us.” suggested James.
 “Nice!” she exclaimed.  “I’ll be right there!”
 A few seconds later, James said, “You’re home early.”
 He was right.  Portentia’s patrols generally didn’t stop until after sunup.
 “Quiet night.  Captured a mugger, but that’s it.” she explained.
 The group waited for Portentia to get situated and teleport to us via the traveling stones.  Then we set off again, growing ever closer to the crater.
 “Meteors can be pretty small.  How are we going to find it?” asked Portentia.
 “Cr-crater.” stated Raine.
 “Yeah.  I guess that makes sense if it’s a big one.” she replied.
 “I think we’re almost there.” I told her.  “We’ll show you!”
 “Guys, we need to run.” stated James, sounding worried.
 “Noooo!” whined Raine.
 I turned Madeleine to see the enormous figure approaching us.  The demon lord was here to steal our prize.
 “Gather around, and I’ll use the stone.” ordered James.
 “No!” exclaimed Raine, making Nekopawpaw shove her bag at Ignus.
 “What!?” questioned James.
 “G-get my m-mats.  I-I’ll show him a r-real d-demon.” replied Raine with more bite in her tone than I had ever heard from her.
 James accepted the trade with Ignus, and Nekopawpaw shot off at incredible speed, having drank some type of potion.
 “Let’s go!” exclaimed James before making Ignus run.
 Portentia and I followed on our characters.  The sky darkened and explosions could be heard in the distance.  Glancing over Raine’s screen led to staring.  Tens of thousands of warped creatures surrounded the enormous demon lord who towered over everything.  Hundreds of them died, caught in the attacks aimed at Nekopawpaw as she dodged around in a continuous blur of  motion, occasionally attacking.
 Anyone who hadn’t seen Raine in battle before would be completely shocked.  I was, despite having seen how she distracts enemies numerous times.  The scale was so grandiose compared with what we normally saw that the comparison to normal fighting was laughable.
 “James, that’s a tree!” I exclaimed when I looked back at my screen to find Ignus stuck running against a large, dying oak.
 I continued to glance over at Raine’s screen as our characters continued on our path.  She did get damaged occasionally, but she instantly had Nekopawpaw drink a potion, healing her to full.
 “Raine, can you make it to us?” questioned James after we finally arrived.
 “J-just g-go.” she ordered.
 “Have your characters hug the meteorite, or we won’t be able to take it with us.” explained James.
 “It’s too heavy to come with us.  Give me a sec.” I replied, seeing how pitifully small my character’s carrying capacity was next to this thing’s weight.  The crater was enormous, and the meteorite itself was quite large.  Even using a spell to increase Madeleine’s strength, she wasn’t contributing enough.
 “U-use a p-potion too.  In m-my b-bag.” muttered Raine.
 James quickly passed out potions, which gave a very large boost to carrying capacity.  Being the game’s best crafter, Raine’s personal potions were far beyond what most people could get without buying from her.
 “I think that’ll do it.  Hug the stone.” ordered James again once we were buffed.
 Nothing happened.  James quickly got on guild chat to get someone to use the hall’s traveling stone.
 “No, I’m not mad.  I’m in a hurry.  Nekopawpaw’s soloing a raid boss.  We found the last of the demons, and I need to get her mats to safety.” he explained in chat.
 Seconds passed in absolute silence in a guild with thousands currently online.  Then everyone seemed to type at once, far too much text scrolled in my log for me to follow.
 “Hey, Mila, could you put Raine’s fight on the guild’s magic mirror?” questioned James aloud once our characters appeared in the guild hall.
 “No, master, but I can instruct you how to scry with it.” she replied.
 “Good enough.  Let’s do this.” he said..
 Several of our guildmates were eyeing the meteorite, but Portentia helped me shoo them away, not wanting an ounce of our friend’s treasure to get stolen.
 In guild chat, James typed “No one goes near the meteorite, or you’ll earn Nekopawpaw’s ire.  I’m putting what that entails on the magic mirror for any who doubt me.”
 The guild hall was filling rapidly as guild members hurried into the enormous building to join in the excitement.
 “J-James, I-I’m almost… almost out of p-potions.” stated Raine.
 “I wondered what you were using to heal.  I would’ve given you mine had I known you needed some.” he replied apologetically.
 “I’ve u-used several h-hundred.” she mumbled.
 James visibly winced.  Given the quality she made, her potions sold very well, meaning she just used a small fortune.
 “Think you can run away?” he asked.
 “I-I… only had o-one speed p-potion, b-but I-I can… try.” she replied, making Nekopawpaw weave through enemies to dodge a giant fist.
 “You’re heading the wrong way.” stated James.
 “N-no.  I d-don’t want it… f-following me h-home.” she stammered.  Even in a situation like this, she was looking out for everyone.
 Striding into the room, Alma asked “What have you guys been doing?”
 James nonchalantly told her “Raine’s been demonstrating how to solo a demon.”
 “I hardly believed the messages I was receiving, but seeing her… what are those moves?” she asked.
 Dodging claws, teeth, horns, and spells as well as enormous fists of a demon lord, Raine happily started explaining which craft granted each move along with the required skill level to use it.  She really did love crafting in the game and wanted others to share her interest.
 I knew James and Alma weren’t about to spend hours on end crafting just to learn any of the moves, especially considering that the moves only worked so well because Raine’s crafting skills were incredibly high.
 “For someone who abhors violence, you certainly understand it.” stated Alma.
 “W-why else would I ab-abhor it.” replied Raine.
 James laughed while Alma rolled her eyes.
 Portentia and I had gotten out of our seats once people stopped coming near the meteorite.  Seeing things on the guild’s magic mirror was cool, but watching Raine’s screen was even cooler, since we could watch in first person as she dodged around attacks that she could have only known were coming by the sound.
 Ai and Mai arrived several minutes later, by which point Raine and the demon lord had left its minions in the dust.
 “What is that?” asked Mai,
 Glancing back, I realized that she was looking at my screen instead of Raine’s.
 “A meteorite.  The demon was after it too, so Raine decided to distract it while we ran.” explained James.
 “You should’ve stayed behind for her.” stated Alma.
 “Then the meteorite couldn’t have gone through.” he replied.
 “Oh.  I see.  We could go meet her.” suggested Alma.
 “Even if everyone drops what they’re doing and comes to join us, do you think we’d stand a chance?” he inquired.
 She sighed and said, “No, we would not.”
 “I-it’s okay.  W-we have m-my mats!” exclaimed Raine excitedly.
 “You mean that I have your mats!” I teased, attempting to laugh villainously.
 “Don’t worry, Raine.  I wouldn’t let Cosette steal from you.” stated Portentia as she eyed me sternly.
 I jumped at her, missing as she dodged to the left.  “James!  Help!  My food is avoiding me!” I exclaimed, causing my fangs to elongate.
 He laughed, and even Alma’s lip twitched slightly.
 “Shh…  y-you’re startling Pufflewink.” warned Raine.  A quick blast of energy partially caught Nekopawpaw, damaging her again.  “A-all out.” she muttered, turning to bash the demon lord with a frying pan.  “B-bad demon.”
 “It’s..” started James.
 “You dazed it!  Run!” exclaimed Alma, gripping the back of Raine’s chair.
 Mila then said, “Wow.  There’s a less than one percent chance of that move ever affecting this demon at your current skill level.  If you dive into the cave northwest of you, the demon won’t be able to follow.”
 “There’s a cave?” questioned James, obviously looking for it.
 “Oops.  Mother’s going to yell at me for giving away spoilers.” claimed Mila, though she didn’t sound worried.
 Raine, however, didn’t hesitate at all, darting Northwest and diving into the cave as soon as she was close.  She pulled out a charm that created light as she moved deeper and deeper with the demon lord clawing at the entrance and collapsing parts of the cave.
 “What!?  You’re logging off there?” asked Alma in surprise.
 “I-I w-work soon.” mumbled Raine.
 “Oh.  I can try distracting your boss if you like, so you can call in sick.” offered Alma as she smiled at James.
 Smiling, Raine said, “Th-thank you, but I-I’ll be okay.  We g-got it!”  When we first met, Raine had rarely smiled.  Even now, her smiles were small, hesitant, but they were much more frequent.
 “I’ll see that the meteorite makes it to your shop.” stated James.
 Perfectly pleased, Raine got up, thanked everyone again, and headed off toward her room, vanishing with Pufflewink instantly.
 “I must say that I am most impressed.” stated Alma.
 “Think you could really distract me?” teased James.
 “You, my darling, are quite easily distracted.” she replied.
 I ignored the two lovebirds as I got back to the game.  The meteorite would need taken to Raine’s shop before any of the more questionable guild members decided small chunks wouldn’t be missed.  I, for one, was really looking forward to seeing what Raine would make.
