I am so cold and I probably have a bunch of mosquito bites and everything smells like campfire but I had such a fun day!!!

#there is literally no point to this post I just wanted to say what a fun day I had #we went out to my aunts for the day and we all sat outside #and I got to see all my cousins and aunts and uncles #even the ones who live 4 hours away #PLUS it was my one cousins 14th birthday and I’m taking him to the rec room for it when he’s not busy with hockey #we had cake #I love cake #I played games with my younger cousins #and I got to talk to my other cousin about books! #she’s a mini bookworm it’s so awesome #plus I got to give my aunt a bag I made for her that says worlds best nurse cause she’s a nurse #she loved it :D #and I got to wear my fox shirt I made and I looked awesome in it #we had a campfire outside so everything smells like campfire now #I am exhausted and tired but it was such a fun day!

Another thing kind of in a similar vein to that last post: I really can't stress enough that if you are the cool family member that hangs out with the kids, don't ever stop doing that, even as they get older. I feel like for a lot of people it's really easy to bond with little kids cause well they're little kids! they think just about anything you could do is cool! and it's maybe a little easier to keep them entertained with simple games. But then as they start getting older like 8, 10, 12, etc, people tend to draw back more and not interact as much, which is absolutely the worst thing to do honestly. Kids at that age Are getting more self aware and maybe a little more self conscious and they Are trying to figure out their place in the world so maybe they don't play all the exact same games they used to, but I bet they still loving playing games!! And given the chance, I bet they would love the fact that they get to play with YOU, their old friend, even more. You might have to work a little bit harder to get them to warm up to you again at first, especially if they don't get to see you very often, but once you get past that they're gonna fall into the same habits around you that they always have and honestly, it's gonna be such a relief for THEM that they are able to act that way with you. You end up being something they can count on, a constant even as they change and grow and an opportunity to let loose a bit as they settle into themselves as people. And if you keep that up alllllll throughout their childhood and alllllll throughout their time as teens, you're gonna end up with a really great relationship that will probably last for the rest of your lives. So yeah, keep being there for all the kids in your life, especially the ones in the awkward phases!!! It may be years down the line, but they'll thank you for it one day, and I promise you'll both cherish that time forever and forever

did i tell you that i accidentally volunteered to organize an easter egg hunt for my little cousins. i was for real just sitting there and next thing i knew it was my job to help two children (there’s also a baby but he’s so little he can’t even walk so that’s literally not my job) decorate eggs, and then i have to hide them. and then worse than that, remember where i hid them. and then supervise as they look. i know that’s not a lot but when i originally found out there were gonna be kids coming to easter this year the first thing i thought was awesome now i don’t have to do anything (the past theee years i have been the youngest person at easter and the egg hunt my aunt insists upon has been undergone by me and my dad. not kidding). anyway. so the doing nothing thing isn’t gonna happen

#those kids happen to be my favorites though. so that’s good #a bunch of my cousins have little kids now and they are NOT equal to me. #context. all my cousins are way older than me and my sister because my dad is way younger than all his sisters. so the generations are bit #muddled with us. anyway. only like half of these kids are good. and then all the rest are awful. no offense #like they’re kids i love them i would obviously never be mean to them #but. some of them. i do not care for those ipad children! #wait i think i’ve mentioned these specific kids before. if you recall my cousin’s husband who used to tease me for reading all my ya fantasy #and i said that when their daughter is about 12 i want to get her to read city of bones #that’s one of the kids. she’s lovely <3 but she’s only 8 at this time. we’re playing a long game here

i love this picture. i feel like tails is like playing pretend with a toy phone and making fake appointments and other Grown Up Things (as kids tend to do) and sonic is playing along talking on an old house phone that's been broken since they moved in that they just haven't gotten around to throwing away or something.

neither of them have the speaker up to their ears but tails holds it up to the side of his head and looks off into the distance instead of at sonic because Of Course he isn't just talking to sonic in the same room as him, he is making important business calls because he's an important business boy. but since sonic is a teen and isn't as caught up in the fantasy of it he just kind of puts the phone near his face and plays along and answers back to tails, but he mostly just watches him as he plays. bc it's really cute

#random post #I don’t mean that as in ‘yea woo let’s party and get fucked up’ like no lol #I just mean. our house is a place where people get along #there’s no expectations here. wanna sit and talk? we can hang out and talk about whatever #wanna play a game? chances are a few other people do to #need to get away for a bit and maybe take a nap? we’ve got plenty of beds take your pick. we’ll make sure no one bothers you #hungry or thirsty? help yourself don’t be shy. we can always get more #like we had ppl over on Saturday and it was so FUN like ppl would talk all together and then different conversations would split off of that #we would go outside then back in. we had food and some ppl had alcohol #we were laughing SO hard about funny shit (like discovering that my sisters bf worked on the gas meter at grandpas but didn’t SAY ANYTHING #ABOUT IT LMFAO) my cousin brought his gf to meet everyone and she just fit in perfectly and so obviously had an obsession for animals #her and my sister were like sudden bffs it was hilarious. my brother and younger cousin ate at 2:40 and slept upstairs till 6:00 #and all we did was turn of the light and put on a fan for em lol. crack up at how comfortable they were #me and my lil sister were walking up and down the driveway talking and looking at the stars. the nap duo were pointing out constellations #when most everyone left it was my household and my sister and her bf. she played uno flip and incoherent with me (usually no one does lol) #and we laughed very hard at all of the adult cards. one of the hints she gave for sidechicks was ‘sad used to have a lot of these’ and #I immediately got it. it was fun. we blasted music from the 2000’s and ate bread #I slept for 11 hours that night lmao and I was tired the next day but I wouldn’t have changed it. I like them lots #it’s days like that that make me think I’m more extroverted than introverted. just because I don’t always know what to say doesn’t mean #I don’t like to talk yn? anyways I’m writing a novel in the tags but I don’t care <3 I just love us and I wish #other people were able to have love and fun times often #I hope this doesn’t sound like me bragging about my home life. trust me I know it’s not some shining light in the darkness or whatever #but it’s something. and I don’t mind sharing my love with other people

I gotta remember I don’t actually like the family party on the 26th and I would much rather be home alone or spending this time with friends, this one is always so overwhelming this house is full of loud opinionated people with undiagnosed ADHD who can’t hold a fucking straightforward conversation to save their lives and my dad always gets upset about how much everyone drinks and the food sucks and every time I try to get to a quieter spot or find an actual pocket of conversation it gets invaded and derailed and shouted over immediately

my cousins were are and will always be my very first best friends, the people I trust the most and the people I love the most. they've been there since the moment I took my first breath, they've been there even when I didn't ask and when I didn't want them there. we go on vacations together, we go and watch movies together - even if we go because only one of us likes the movie - , we go to McDonald's in the middle of the night, we drive together, we go to festivals, parties, dinner and lunch together. we sleep in the same bed sometimes and we cry together when we feel bad. I hope everyone gets the opportunity to have cousins who love you like this.
