Do you get hate on fics? no! I’ve gotten some weird comments of people trying to like nudge me in one direction story/character wise but I pretend I do not see it and frankly it makes me want to do the opposite of that

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? i really only feel motivated for it if it makes sense within the greater story I’m trying to tell. my work is really heavily based in character dynamics so it definitely does feel like the right move at times, but I generally don’t like to stay there too long and don’t tend to write with a ton of detail. i tried to write a pwp once and it ended up 10k+ words with a plot.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written no but during our leverage rewatch the cursed idea of the person of interest team getting all the leverage team’s fake identities as numbers while they’re trying to con finch was dreamt up. and i think someone should write it.

Hello! Thank you for enjoying my tag, and for giving me a really pleasant walk down memory lane, as I just went through the tag to find some fics to rec!

Disclaimer: I am not actually IN all of the fandoms for these recs, so if you want to go exploring the original canon or fandom proceed with caution as I have no idea what's out there in them hills.

Recs under the cut!

It's really hard for me to pull together a GOOD, COHERENT rec list for subby murderbot fic, because (1) I have been a fan of this trope for a good long time, and I simply cannot be arsed to go through over three thousand pages of bookmarks because I get distracted and start re-reading, and (2) there isn't a clear tag for it on ao3? And I understand why not, because it's hard to distinguish between "this is a character dynamic in the text" and "this is a kinky fic I am writing specifically for physical kink purposes." And THEN there are the fics where those two overlap!

So...*waves hands helplessly* I tried?

If you are looking very specifically for fealty-related femdom stuff, I made a not-so-giant femdommy fic rec list here a couple years ago, it's a good starter. It could probably use some updating at this point, but I have well over three thousand bookmarks on ao3 and...well...see above.

Tbh, I'm just going to link my AO3 bookmarks and accept that this may lose me a GREAT deal of respect from some of you pr0nbots who thought I was Better Than That (TM) for some of the stuff in there (spoilers: i am NOT and i AM embarrassed about it). Search "Dom/Sub" or "Light dom/sub" or "Fealty" or even just "BDSM" and you'll probably turn up a bunch of fics from different fandoms. Since authors don't always tag themes, you can also use the "Search within results" bar as well as the tags search, which might net you more results.

You could just search my Helen Wick tag - most of my John Wick stuff tags end up being vaguely kinky anyway. Sadly, not a whole lot of subby John Wick fic out there, but hope springs eternal I suppose!

The Clocktaur Verse is a fantasy book series by T. Kingfisher that I HIGHLY recommend as far as subby, respectful murderbot paladins!

@astolat's fics are always quality, but @fahye made a definitive astolat fealty rec list! I haven't read the merlin, thor/loki, and stargate fics because I don't happen to be in those fandoms, but I CANNOT recommend enough "And I Alone Have Escaped to Tell You," because despite the fact that it's forkin' Transformers, I have never ever read another fic that gets literal "subby murderbot second-in-command" quite so well. "Duende" from Master & Commander is also very good, although neither of them is precisely what I would call "subby."

@theragnarokd's Person of Interest fics on ao3 are incredible, as is the series they wrote with maculategiraffe, which is ALL about fealty. In fact, Person of Interest in general as a fandom is pretty rich for subby murderbot content, since the main character is an archetypal subby murderbot. astolat has a GREAT POI collection.

I would highly recommend Jupiter Ascending, a glittering ridiculously fantastic space angel werewolf of a movie where the male love interest is a literal dog soldier. Generally, anything written for Jupiter/Caine in the Jupiter Ascending fandom is choice subby murderbot content. I am also, shamefully, several years into a hiatus for a JA fic of my own.

Leverage is another fandom with a subby murderbot in it, but since Eliot Spencer is also a lot of other things not all of the fic involving him focuses on that dynamic. One of my oldest bookmarks is "Before Red Cape and Foil" by egelantier and somebraveapollo, which is a crossover with a fandom I don't go to but you don't need to be familiar to enjoy the whump. The Rope Studio AU by synteis is also good, if sadly unfinished. In fact, the first couple pages of my Leverage bookmarks should be a good resource.

I really, honestly don't think I can get much better than just shoving all of my thousands of ao3 bookmarks at people (I should start using bookmarker's tags someday (ㆆ_ㆆ)), but I PROMISE that somewhere in that mess is a bunch of subby murderbot and subby murderbot AU content! Just... a little buried in the slush.

Why did i do this to myself.  i could see the question when i put Leverage at 2.  Love the team so much.  I think I have to pick Hardison.  Age of the Geek.

So many good episodes but Halloween V.  The Halloween Heist with Jake proposing to Amy was just perfect.

Going to have to say 4.  All the seasons are good, but I love my girl Tamsin and that was such a good season for her.

Root/Shaw hands down.  A sociopath (shaw) gets to be the good guy and a love interest.  Shaw is hands down the best representation i have ever gotten as a sociopath.

Canon Hardison and Parker.  Non canon Hardison/Parker/Eliot (fuck you TNT for not letting it be canon)

There are so many good episodes so that is hard.  either the most recent episode 2x13 or 1x12 the mummy episode.

Season 4 episode 8 Groundhog Fae.  it’s got time loops, Krampus, and Valkubus.

Another hard one.  All the seasons are so good.  But probably season 5.  that was a good final season.

Since Episode 1 aired Oct. 25 2018, but i started watching the franchise with The Originals episode 1 so Oct. 3 2013.

Saw some trailers back before it started.  Seemed like something i would like and i was right.

Legacies is all consuming right now and really the only contender to knock Leverage out as my favorite show of all time.  But I have to say i prefer Leverage.  it’s just my favorite show i have watched it more times than i can count.

Well POI has more seasons and episodes so 3.  Hopefully there will be more episodes of Legacies once the show finishes.

No.  Just no.  would it be funny?  Yes, but would it work?  No.

Lizzie and Landon.  I am fully on board this crackship that i made.  i feel like they would have real Dair and Jackie x Hyde vibes.  they would be funny together.  i do love a good bickering dynamic.

overall, which show has the better storyline, 3 or 5?

3.  I would say Lost Girl if the last season A. didn’t kill of Tamsin and B. didn’t make Hades a villain (as a polytheist who worships Persephone and Hades this pissed me off)

hey how does leverage compare to poi in terms of depth?

leverage is my go to sunshine show! i watch it when i feel down and i just want to enjoy watching a competent cast of characters pull a heist and get a lot of team feels...

and found family feelings, some things that i associate with POI, and in another world there would be more POI/Leverage crossovers because of some similarities the shows have. heck, even the leverage showrunner calls POI, Leverage’s more serious older brother, which is an accurate way to think of leverage and POI, IMO. 

in terms of depth... they tackle a lot about how corporate systems screw ordinary people, and john rogers (showrunner/creator) once stated that they actually toned down what real life corporations do to screw ordinary people, because it's unbelievable.

a case of truth is stranger than fiction.

but most of the time i watch it for the caper/heists tropes they overturn and the lovable characters.

Giving Parker a touch more of Asperger’s and bringing it up on the show. It was pretty salty when I found out that the writers did consider Parker as being on the spectrum but not doing anything official beyond commentary but outside of that, Leverage left me very satisfied on many fronts

So, slightly different format/a little less well-organized than usual, mostly because this past month, I did not actually get a whole lot done...but here are some highlights.

Original Fiction:

Starting here, because I did write an origfic piece on rainbowfic, which, if any of y’all write original fiction, you should join us! We’re a pretty chill community--it’s been super quiet for the past year but we’re starting to build some steam again! It is an original fiction focused community, but there have been a few crossover challenges (this is actually where Phoenix!verse debuted!) Anyway, I liked how that one turned out, and it’s the first original fic I’ve put out in a while, so, yay!

SWBB:

Other than that, I’ve been pretty exclusively focused on my SWBB project. I was behind, and it’s been...Challenging. A lot of fun! But challenging.

I think I’ve mentioned before that courtship narratives are not my strong suit? Yeah...you’ll probably notice, if you look at the stuff I’ve written, that the bulk of it is either gen (with background pairings as relevant), or Established Relationship.

...naturally, my BB project is a courtship narrative. Go me!

(Also it’s an AU and I got super invested in the worldbuilding and backstory and then remembered oh yeah I need a plot and also to get these people together whoops...)

So, I feel like there’s some kinks to work out still, mostly in the middle section.

I am, incidentally, really grateful for the way SWBB has beta’ing set up (i.e., people who are interested in being betas have their own signup and get a list of stories once all the writers have submitted their details. I always feel so awkward asking people to beta my stuff (hence why most of the stuff I post is not actually beta’d lol...) Generally, my go-to for challenges that require it is to basically offer to trade beta’ing services, and that’s always worked, but this is so much nicer.

Precipice, V-Day, Etc.:

Anyway, as a result of that focus, particularly as the deadline got closer, I haven’t done a whole lot of work on other fanfic projects lately. Which is why I did a #blast from the past for Valentine’s Day (SPEAKING OF, I legit did not expect Deja Vu to take off the way it did, thank you guys so much <33333333) and no Precipice chapter since January...I do have the opening for Arc Seven about half-written, at least? Also, I don’t actually to go on hiatus for March this year--work will be super-busy again, yes, but I think I’ll need the stress relief...

(It may end up happening anyway, but I’m hoping not.)

Looking Ahead:

Like I said above, Precipice will hopefully get at least a chapter or two in March, plus I’ll be working on editing/polishing/etc. my SWBB project.

And there’s a month-long challenge going on on rainbowfic, so I’ll probably do a thing or two for that.

I’m also considering crossposting another of my AU outlines to AO3--probably either the Rabbit Hole AU or the SPN/POI crossover...any thoughts/suggestions?

I’ve also been asked about followups to Ventress and Her Tiny Time-Travelling Conscience, Deja Vu!verse, and Phoenix!verse, so I’d like to do a little bit on them. Realistically, though, that probably won’t happen ‘til April. I also have a couple of half-finished AU outlines I should work on at some point (the Mask of Zorro fusion, the Leverage crossover, etc.), and I want to get back to Distaff and our faces like a mirror and the Heralds of Valdemar fusion and a few other pieces...

But, again, that’s looking much further forward. This next month is probably going to be Precipice and BB and origfic pretty exclusively, unless something really jumps out and bites me.

And I’ll probably do an Open Question Night or two, because, again, I’ll probably need the stress relief, lol...also I like doing those! I like talking to people.
