Chapter Ten: The Lost Weekend

The gang parties hard and Jughead declares his ‘weirdo’ status. Just a regular Riverdale day, really.

We start the episode with this dress that we literally see for 2 seconds. The long lace shirt end sleeves, the embellished tie collar, it’s an amazing dress that I wish we had the chance to see more of.

RiverNixens Practice Uniform. I don’t really think any comments need to be made.

This dress is reminiscent of the dress previously seen in 107. The navy blue lace detailing is some thing that we will frequently see on Ronnie, as is the embellished bow belt, though this particular one is new. I love the ruffle sleeves of this dress, it’s cute, it’s says ‘I’m a part of this buosness now and there’s noting you do do to stop me.’ I appreciate the addition of her small peal choker here, a full pearl strand would have been too much for this dress which is already a statement in itself.

A moment of appreciate for Ronnie first appearance in glasses. As a glasses wearer myself, I love these rounded black frames. She wears them when she means business.

Our girl dances off against Cheryl and wins the HBIC position (but does she? I’m so confused on the purpose of this dance off)... not that we ever really see her in it ever.

This outfit is one of the outfits that are in my top ten Ronnie outfits of all time. I love it. A lot. It manages to be so different from her usual look, while still maintaining all the essential elements, bar the usual pearl necklace. We’ve seen this coat before. It’s her party coat. She’s well and truly down to party till she drops.

I have so many things to say about this top, it’s crazy. Is navy a colour we see her in frequently? Yes. Is that navy usually in the style of a lace front, skin tight crop top? No. Even when we previously saw V in her clubbing outfit, her top was no where near this risqué. This is a step in a different direction for our girl, and I love it.

Her skirt is a simple green/navy plaid pencil skirt. This very classic skirt kind of counteracts the effect her shirt might have had if she wore it with a more modern style of skirt. The effect of the risqué and the refined are very purposeful here, and it’s something we have seen, to a degree, previously in our girls wardrobe. She’s here to party, let her hair down, and not think about the act that her Father threatened her Mother in order to ger his way.

Another moment of appreciation for her shoes. These navy embellished Jimmy Choo’s are everything that I could of asked to be paired with this outfit and more. The embellishment adds a detail of extra glam to the outfit that I’m obsessed with.

Now THIS is a moment. Think of the last time we saw Ronnie in pink? Think about the connection her wearing this colour has to do with her Father. Here, our girl is committing to saying her Dad is a decent guy, when she truly believes him capable of bad things, all to protect her Mother. The added leather/heavy satin trim and bow detail add some edge to what could have been a very innocent and placid outfit. Paired with the patent leather mary janes we’re seen previously (and you know my thoughts on them) Ronnie does her daughterly duty with a false smile. Our girl truly has been through a lot these last through episodes.

Her earrings her are different from what we’ve ever seen before. I haven;t spent a lot of time on her earrings in the past, usually they’re jsut simple pearls or the like, but these pearl embellished jacket earrings are stunning.

To end, we have another appearance of THE CAPE and Ronnie bringing Betty more pastries to make up for Archie indiscretions. What can I say? Ronnie seems to speak through apology cakes.

Total: Five, six if we include the cape over the top of her pink dress.

the tv is always on in my household. because of this, if i enter the kitchen or cross the den to go in the backyard, i see glimpses of what’s on tv. my dad or mom is usually watching. but i never sit and watch anything with them, particularly because they pause and talk throughout the whole thing and keep the captioning on because they don’t hear well. which is fine, but i’m not much of a “watcher” anyway.

there is a scene i remember watching. just the one scene, just the few frames. i don’t remember how old i was. i could have been twelve, i could have been eighteen. it could have been here or at my childhood home. i don’t remember. but the film (or at least this part of it) was about a young girl who could see different moments in time. either past, or future, i couldn’t tell. and she was certain their house would burn down. her father assured her it wouldn’t happen. she looked over at her shelf of stuffed animals and saw the flames licking up behind them, her stuffed bunny’s ears wilting as it folded in on itself and burned, molten plastic dripping down from its eyes. she looked back at her dad, and then at her intact shelf.

i am feeling that way with my relationships, no matter how superficial. a friend sends me a song and i immediately feel a sense of nostalgic bitterness, feeling like one day I will stumble across it or listen to it again and will be able to do nothing but regret the time i spent with them and mourn our relationship. i see our friendships ending before they’ve even begun and wonder what i’m doing wasting their time. i will say the wrong thing and they will come to hate me, and all the things they kept under wraps or bit their tongue about while we were on good terms will come spilling out, and then i’ll get to hear their true thoughts. things that they wished, desperately, that they could make fun of me to my face about.

four years ago i got an Anonymous ask (on my previous url) back when i was hit by the car. it said something along the lines of how i’m too ugly for my rave family, or that it’s a good thing i wasnt able to hang out with them (since i was in recovery) because i made them look ugly. there was a tidbit floating around tumblr that if you blocked the anonymous message it would reveal their IP with a certain addon/extension, but it ended up not working and just deleting the message. statcounter revealed it was someone in socal, which made me even more upset. because it meant somebody who knew me and might have even been friends with me secretly thought i was ugly and was bringing down the look of my friend group as a whole by daring to show my ugly face.

and now that the jnco kids photoshoot is floating around again with its 10k+ notes all i think about is how i didnt go to the photoshoot because i was sick, but also because i was broken out and disgusting and i felt hideous. and it’s clear from the other photos that i dont belong, i dont gel with the style at all, i dont know how to pose or what to do with my hands, and i just hate having my picture taken, and i knew i should stay out of the pictures because nobody was going to want to buy a product that i was wearing. im not a model, which isn’t necessarily any ...fault or detriment or defect or something on my part, i mean, not everybody’s a model... but all of my friends are stylish and fashionable and generally good looking. and i’m not. but i mean, i dont make the effort. because i dont really care about that thing. because if i care about it too much, all i do is see the flaws i cant fix, like the size of my nose and my protruding cheeks and my hard chin that everybody tells me is “too sharp” for me to hug them.

and i know it’s not healthy to think about these things or to sabotage myself into thinking that there’s no point in trying to be healthy or cute just because i have a nose like a stalactite and skin like no-man’s land. but it doesn’t change the fact that i do, and i worry all the time about bringing down the people around me by just being an entity. the best thing about raves is that i can hide in a corner and dance without caring about people looking at me (because nobody is), i dont get hit on, people just leave me alone, and it’s just me and the music and that’s all i care about. i dont have to worry about looking professional or stylish or cute, i can just wear what i want and what i’m comfortable in and all of my fun kandi and just do what i want.

i couldn’t pull off the outfit that [redacted] is wearing in the photoshoot. she’s fucking 5′2″ or some shit and under a hundred pounds. her ears are the size of a silver dollar and her nose is like a gumdrop. her thighs have the same amount of fat she did coming out of the fucking womb. i’m built like a lethargic vrykul, or maybe a rubenesque woman with a foot in the grave. my body looks like somebody put all the sliders in the middle. it’s a disaster. and my posture is so fucking insanely bad that im pretty sure my gait is fucked up permanently.

i dont put effort into it because i dont want people to look at me. i dont want people to be physically attracted to me. i dont want people to hit on me. i dont want to be singled out. but i also dont want to loom in the back of my friend group like their fucking personal lurch addams and make them feel like they brought some kind of charity case along. that’s how i felt at burning man and i cried about it for almost a full day. nate told me “You’re one of my best friends” and i said “but I dont understand why.”

ive been such a fucking wreck all week. i cant seem to fix my sleeping schedule to something more preferable or make an effort to do fucking anything. i tried to get at those prompts today and i jsut felt drained of creativity and completely dead. and as my departure date approaches i realize i spent these months fuckking around and i have no idea what im going to wear while im in holland and im just going to be the fucking “not as stylish” ugly outcast a-fucking-gain with my three cute baby-faced friends and then me looking like a half-shucked cornstalk. i wanted my tattoo by thunderdome and i didnt do it; i have to treat my roots again before we go, and i have no fucking idea what im going to wear for ten fucking days. and not only that but a bunch of my clothes don’t fit anymore or are way too tight on me. i gained a little bit of weight but it’s mostly that the shape of my hips changed since college (obviously a 19 year old and a 27 year old are not built the same way. i just didnt think my change would be so drastic as to fuck me out of half my clothing.)

it’s not that i dont want to go. i just feel like somebody better should go instead. somebody better should have been here all along. i dont know why i bother taking up their space.

OK SO I GOT AT LEAST 10 MINUTES TO WRITE THIS UP OPPS CAPS

anyways im rushing to study but i got something on my mind , i was complaining about my periods and neville tells me how he would prepare ginger tea for her then he would buy medicine and he would tapao and cancel plans so that she could just stay in , and how he would boil water to make a heat compression for her , and like fuck thats so sweet like honestly i never really expected bryan to do this but neville is honestly so sweet and i wish bryan was that sweet but i bet neville did it because he wanted to not because he was told to because thats just who he is , and i think isaac was like that too like i remember hwo he would buy me a sneaker bar everytime i mentioned that i had my period like that shit was su sweet and i never apprieciated it because hes just my best friend , and like phil last time boil the ginger water for elaine too , so im like maybe bryan is like super blur , like maybe because before this i was dating white guys and i mean white guys usually maybe dont do as much as chiese guys , cause when asians treat their girls right they really really treat their girls like queens , but honestly even tho joh was russian i remmeebred when we woke he made me breakfast in bed and an omelette and stuff , idk i was seeing our chats the other day , and i guess some of the bitterness that i had from him came from like me being jealous of his gf but honetly im happy he has someone now , like he was actually nice and he really hyped me up a lot like he would comment on my stories and apprieciate a selfie and what not , hed take notice of my outfits , my hair , my make up . but i mean it just had to end , and i didtnt love him but im glad he has someone he loves now , i guess thats some sort of maturity , like if i hated him that would mean i wasnt over him but im happy for him moving on , anyways back to the subject , sometimes when i wear something cute or whateever, change my outfit or makeup , bry doesnt take notice , i tried seeing his reaction and usually ill have to be all like ‘ i changed my hair today ‘ ‘ im earing make up today is it nice ‘ or is my outfit cute ‘ then only he responds , and honestly its kinda sien , maybe idk hes just not that attracted to me , wow this hurts anyways that day when he was looking at my body and he was saying that it was sexy and he was lucky , i really felt butterflies , maybe hes trying idk , maybe after i told him i want more thats him showing it or something , idk la , i hype him a bunch , too much for my own good . but like i want some sort of reciprocration i think im so used to the reciprocration because of austin , like austin would take screenies of all my stories lmao , but i mean i guess now its kinda concerning knowing he has my photos . i hope he deleted them idk but it dont matter , idk if i made myself this demanding of bryan , is it the men i dated ? is it society ? what if bryan never treats me the way i think i wanna be treated ? when i asked neville like wow u do all these stuff and he was like doesnt bryan do it too , i was like erm no ? and they were like shocked like a normal man should do these things , and that was kinda shameful i guess , and i was likeno la bry just give me tummy rubs , and esther said well if you receive the way you are treated if you think youre a queen your bf will treat u like a queen , but if you are shit your bf will treat u like shit , idk that kinda resonated with me , anyways i tried to test bry by telling him about my period

he said he did some research and pullled out a 5 list of things that are remedies for periods which one was sex and he was like hey loook we had sex :( like i mean ha ha yea but he wasnt really catching the hint , so i told hi about neville and isaac and i think he felt intimidated especially after neville said that hes a lil boy , which tbh i dont get why hell think so like hes jsut a year younger , i guess esther and neville jsut look down on everyone except themselves , anyways he suddenly ask hwo old is neville and how logn were they dating which like i think was a hint to me like , hey neville is not so old, and the reason i dont tret u like neville is because their relationship is longer than ours , i wanted to say ‘ well you dont need to be in a 2 year relationship to do those things ‘ but honestly i feel like thatll just start a fire

idk la i thought after this fight i wont be thinking too much but i find myself doing so

i thought that after i told him i wanted to go somewhere nice that he would plan something but nigga didnt plan anything at all , we ended up staying at home to eat with mum , its supposed to be posponed but id about bryan , maybe we wont celebrate it . its important to me and i kept hinting that its soemthing i wanna celebrate that we cant just ignore it , its jsut a day to apprieciate each other, idk la i feel like i still have expectations and little by little im being super sien because hes not reacting , and i wanna feel loved not jsut thru kisses not jsut thru sex, anyone an do that , but it relly takes someones real effort to make someone smile , and im afriad that my smile fades , rn im happy with the little things but if i break up with him now i wont say he did crazy things for me to be like yeah ‘ill never find someone who will love me as bryan did ’ and its sad that thats the case, idk i still wanna wait and see if he does anything , i jsut wanna feel something ya know , i dont wanna be just grateful that he stayed over one night , like idk , im grateful but wheres the other stuff , anyways fuck 25 mintues passed dy now im sad i still have a lot on my mind but idk , i jsut hope it all goes uphill from here

Geekade Top Ten: Unusual Video Game Hearts

It's Valentine's Day and there are hearts everywhere. They're at the store, in your office, on your Facebook wall, everywhere. You know where else they are? Video games. Sometimes they make sense, others, not so much, especially if you think about them for more than a few moments. Here are the top ten unusual video game hearts.

#10. Popeye - Hearts represent love and life in video games a lot. It's when you start to think of said hearts as physical objects that things start to seem a little odd, especially when said hearts aren't an abstract powerup item. In Popeye, Olive Oil tosses these hearts down at you and there's always been somethign a little off-putting to me about the way they fall. It's like they're leaves or something. Why would these hearts have this kind of weight? What are they made of? Love? Is love made of feathers? I have so many questions!

#9. Love Lab from Rhythm Heaven - Here we see hearts representing love again, but this time it's through science! In this Rhythm Heaven minigame, you are charged with making a love potion by making hearts pop out of the top of your flask when you shake it the right way. If done correctly, the hearts combine with another scientist's hearts and then fall into a... heart bag? I don't even know what else to say. I mean, Rhythm Heaven is fantastic, and so is this particular minigame, but the tangible nature of those hearts again vexes me.

#8. Stage 13 in bubble Bobble - Bubble Bobble is adorable, and each single-screen stage has some sort of pattern on it, so a heart shouldn't seem out of place. The trouble is that everything in this stage is out to kill you! This is the pinnacle of things only getting weirder the more you think about it. If the story is to be believed, your cute little dinosaurs are traveling through the cave of monsters to save their loved ones, and there's a part of this cave that's made entirely out of hearts? And I'm on this lovely stage with the super-cute Bubble Bobble theme music playing in the background and then some flying whale monsters show up to try to murder me? What the hell? It's weird. Also, it's really hard to get inside the heart to kill the trapped whale monsters. Was that supposed to mean something? Like, it's hard to get inside someone's heart? Or maybe it's just a level in an adorable video game. Whatever. It's still weird.

#7. The Companion Cube from Portal - This is still one of the most brilliant segments in the history of gaming, and partly because it's so bizarre. The game expects you to feel differently about this inatimate cube because they called it your companion cube and put hearts on it. BUT IT WORKED! When it came time for me to "euthinize" the cube, I kept looking for a way out of it. I didn't want to destroy my companion cube, it was myu friend! It loved me! See? It's got hearts on it! Really, one of the most remarkable game experiences I've ever had. The only reason it's not higher on the list is because I'm nto ranking best, I'm ranking unusual.

#6. Kano Wins - So, let's think about this. This dude Kano not only has the ability to rip off Blanka from Street Fighter II by somehow levitating himself, curling into a ball, and spinning around like Sonic the Hedgehog except in a straight line, and a seemingly limitless supply of laser knives stashed away in his pocket-less outfit, but he can also just shove his hand into a person's chest and rip their heart out? Why the heck wouldn't you lead with that? Who cares about spinning around like a ball when you can just get close enough to end whatever fight you're in with some good old fashioned heart removal? Also, I've enver really been able to figure this out from looking at the animations, but does he take a bite out of the heart, or is it just animated weird? I would think he'd have blood on his face if he took a bite out of it, het he seems as clean as he was when he started the match. Of course, there should probably be blood all over him by this point anyway considering how much blood there is in teh game as is. Why would he wear white to an occasion like this?

#5. Powerup hearts in Double Dragon for NES - So, this is weird. Hearts in games are usually tied to some sort of health or something, except here in Double Dragon they represent how many ways you can beat dudes up. The hearts are the basically the level-up structure. The more points you get from punching folks, the more hearts you get. The more hearts you get, the more effective ways you get to beat people up. I have no problem with a level-up system in my bean-em-up, but why hearts? Why not a simple number system? Who thought using hearts to show how high a level you were on and using a series of rectangles to show health made any sense at all? Crazy people, that's who.

#4. This heart container in Zelda 2 - Like Olive Oil's hearts in Popeye, heart containers really seem weird the more you think about them. As a physical, tangible object you can pick up in Zelda games, the more you think on it the stranger that really seems. But at least they're usually only awarded in special circumstances. You beat a boss or find a secret cave or something. This one though, is just chilling next to some rocks in a field like someone just left it there. Like someone was just passing through and decided "I'm done with this thing" and tossed it. And there's this single Goriya there hanging out with it. Did he not think of picking it up and keeping it for himself? Is he just chilling in this field with the rocks all by himself guarding the heart container? What kind of life is that? And how exactly is the heart container standing up like that? Shouldn't it be laying on its side or something? Is it levitating?

#3. The Fiend's Cauldron from Kid Icarus Uprising - Hearts as currency are just the way things are in the Kid Icarus universe. That alone is weird enough to earn it a high spot on my list, but when it came time for the 3rd entry int he Kid Icarus franchise, the powers tha be took things a step further with the Fiend's Cauldron. At the beginning of each stage you can toss your hearts in the blasted thing and basically bet on how well you'r egoing to do. The more hearts you throiw in the cauldron, the harder the diffuiculty is, but also the higher the reward if you beat the level. Why a cauldron? What good does cooking the hearts do? I get the betting system, but does cooking them make them taste better? Are we eating hearts now? I thought they were money. Are you trying to sacve the hearts from being buirned in the cauldron? If so, isn't there a better way to show betting with hearts? Couldn't there jsut be some sort of bank syustem? I know they have credit cards in Angel Land. Man, that's weird.

#2. Hearts in Castlevania - This is basically combining all the weirdest heart traits into one. They're not currency like in Kid Icarus though, ammunition for your weapons. As in the more hearts you have the more axes you can throw. I'm sorry, but what? What kind of sense does that make? Oh, and where do you get these hearts? Candles. That's right, if you take a whip to a candle, a heart might fall out. If it's a small heart it will fall like a feather just like in Popeye. If it's a big heart, it will just plop on the ground like a brick. It won't bounce though, it will just land on its pointy end and sit there looking all red and whatnot. So, they have relative weight? At half the size they're lighter than air, otherwise they fall like bags of fruit? And let's not foret just how weird it is to seee adorable, lovely hearts all over the place in the gothis setting of Castlevania. Dracula's got some weird stuff going on in his castle.

#1. Losing a life in City Connection - There are hearts all over this weird little game, but there is nothing more strange than what happens when you get into a car accident. Nothing. I... Just watch.

Nope, we're not getting any weirder than that.

And there's my list. What did I forget? I'm sure there's something. There's no shortage of weird video games out there.
