“Hazel Mae.”

Harry sternly told off your four year old daughter, who was misbehaving as the dinner table.

You were currently celebrating Hazel’s fourth birthday at Anne’s house, after celebrating her actual birthday at yours surrounded by her nursery friends. Your mum was there too, providing the food, so the only close family person who hadn’t seen Hazel at for years old was Anne.

But Hazel was misbehaving and making a scene, causing you to become more stressed.

Harry didn’t appreciate seeing you stressed, especially when you were pregnant with your second baby. Your baby was two months along and you could already tell they were a lot more peaceful of a child than Hazel. Maybe that meant it would be a boy.

“Hazel, listen to daddy please.” You sighed, watching Hazel pout fiercely at her dad as he tried to get her to eat her peas.

“No!” She exclaimed, pushing Harry’s hand, that was holding a knife, away.

“Hazel! You could hurt yourself, don’t be silly.” Harry argued, afraid for her. He was only angry, because she was going to be hungry and sad later, but also because if she accidentally hurt herself from her strop then he’d never forgive himself.

“I don’t want them.” Hazel stressed, slapping her hands down on the high chair that Anne kept at her house. She wasn’t big enough to sit at the adult chairs yet, still only being a small girl for her age.

Anne was watching from the other side of Harry, whilst Gemma sat next to you and Michal was at the top of the table. It was embarrassing for you to see Hazel behave like this, because you couldn’t help but think everyone was judging you and believing that you were a bad mum.

Many a time before Harry has sat with you for hours, convincing you that you were nothing short of perfect. Your mum abilities were second to none, he would assure you. He wasn’t going to let you go a day without knowing how amazing you were and what a blessing you were in Hazels life. It was those little reminders that kept you going and allowed you to keep believing in yourself.

“Hazel, please my love.” You said nicely, trying kindness as a tactic, using her fork to push some peas onto it.

Instead of eating them, she instead pushed your hand away and let the peas roll over the table and even onto the floor. Your jaw fell open as you were shocked with her behaviour. You thought you’d taught her better than to argue with violence. If she has something she wants to voice, she has to learn to do it vocally not physically.

“Bad mummy.” She told you off and went back to aggressively pouting.

You sat back in your chair, contemplating what Hazel had just told you.

It was hard to hear that you were a bad mum when you knew exactly what a bad mum looked like from personal experience. To think that you were anything like that woman made you feel physically sick. It hurt to think that Hazel thought you weren’t good enough, even if it was just for a moments time.

You tried to keep your tears at bay, but you could feel them welling up in your eyes along with that horrible lump in the back of your throat. Keeping your head down you rested your hand over your small belly and thought to yourself, if you couldn’t be a good mum to one child then how could you be a good mum to another? Was it cruel to bring another human into the world if you weren’t good enough?

“Hazel, look, if you eat your peas then you can have some of nana’s homemade chocolate cake?” Gemma asked and that made Hazel’s eyes light up with excitement.

“Okay.” She nodded and picked up her fork to start eating again.

If it wasn’t bad enough already that you couldn’t get her to behave yourself, then it was even worse that Gemma was a better motherly figure to your daughter than you were.

You stood up from the table before you had an anxious breakdown in front of everyone. “Excuse me, sorry.”

You made a mental note to come and thank Anne for a lovely meal later, but for now you couldn’t think of anything other than get somewhere quiet so you could have a cry to yourself.

Walking upstairs, you went into the guest bedroom, where you and Harry were staying, and wandered into the bathroom, softly closing the door behind you. You sat on the cold floor tiles and brought your knees up to your chest, before letting a few tears overtake your body.

It simply to hurt to think that you might just be exactly like the woman before you. It was terrifying in fact.

“Lovie?” Harry knocked on the door before entering, not waiting for you to respond because he already knew that you’d need him and his hugs regardless.

He quietly made his way onto the floor next to you, sitting down so he could pull your body across him and onto his lap. You fit perfectly, like two pieces of a puzzle finding home. Your head rested on his chest, light sobs escaping your body. His hand rubbed your back smoothly, whilst also supporting your body, whilst his other grasped onto one of your hands.

Your felt his lips touch the top of your head and you breathed out a heavy sigh from comfort.

“S-sorry.” You weren’t sure what you were apologising for, but you did it anyways.

“Nothing to apologise for, bub.”

“Just can’t help but think i’m a bad mum. That i’m like her. And, like, what the hell am I doing bringing another child into the world if I can’t even be good enough for Hazel.” You continued to cry against him and you could feel his head shaking with every word that you spoke.

“Thank you for talking to me about this and helping me understand how you feel,” He often told you this as a way for you to understand it was okay to tell people how you feel, “But I’m fucking proud of the woman you are and the mum you’ve come to be. I am infatuated with you every day and it only grows as I watch the bond between you and Hazel grow. And hey, she was a tiny pain in our asses tonight but we get through it together. Just because she throws a tantrum doesn’t make us bad parents, or people. We just grow and learn from them. We grow and learn from each other.”

You sniffled and tilted your head up from his chest. “You always know what to say that it actually makes me look bad.”

He shook his head and leant down to kiss your lips a couple of times. “You help me in more ways than just words, baby.”

To most people that would sound like he was being gross and sexy, but to you you knew he meant it in a loving and intimate way. No one made your heart quite beat like he did and it was very apparent that he felt exactly the same way about you.

“I try my best, H.” You nodded and he smiled so warmly at you, he was like your own miniature version of the sun.

“You do more than that m’love. I’m proud that you’re the mum to our daughter every day and I can’t wait until we have this one too.”

You stayed in his arms for a bit longer, Harry just whispering sweet words into your ear. He knew that at times like these you could send yourself to very dark places, but with every kind word that he spoke you were able to pull yourself back and stay in the light.

“I want to go hug Hazel.” You told him softly.

“Okay. Let’s do it together, yeah?”

You nodded and he helped you up off the floor. He held onto your hand as you walked down the stairs and into the lounge. It was clear that Hazel had finished at the dining table and she was happily watching Cbeebies now, surrounded by her mass of toys that Anne kept for her here.

Instead of disturbing her, you sat down on the two-seater sofa and smiled at Anne and Gemma. They knew how hard that must’ve been for you so they would never criticise you over your daughters behaviour. Plus they were just good people and good people don’t hurt others.

Hazel must’ve noticed you sit down because the next thing you know she’s flinging herself at your body. You helped her climb up your legs and onto your lap, not stopping herself until she had her arms around your shoulders and was squeezing you tightly.

“I love you mummy.” She said softly and you had to purse your lips to keep you from crying again.

Harry came and sat down next to you, admiring his two girls reuniting. He knew that Hazel never meant what she had said, but he was proud that she knew what she said was wrong and was dealing with it appropriately. This was something that Harry would remind you later on as evidence for being an awesome parent.

“I love you too, baby.” You kissed the side of her head and she remained there for the rest of the evening.

There was no better place than here, in a family home, with some of the most important people in your life.

Thirteen Era Rewatch: The Halloween Apocalypse

I'm re-watching Thirteen's era in lead up to the Centenary and since this is likely going to be my last full re-watch for a while I thought I'd do a post on each ep where I just go over all the things I love, hate or just have some general thoughts on.

When S13 aired I made a posts similar to this after re-watching each ep before the next one came out. The Halloween apocalypse post can be found HERE.

I still can’t believe S13 started off with Thasmin in a bed together like…

I remember when this ep first aired and when I rewatched it before ep two I didn’t give a single fuck about the tunnel guy. But then by the end of the series I was like oh this is kinda cool

Dan’s first scene where he’s hyping up Liverpool is kinda cringe. Idk if it’s the dialogue or how John plays it but I’m not a huge fan

If this is foreshadowing I will materialise in Chris Chibnall’s bedroom at 3AM

Remember when we had these pics and people were speculating what it was. I remember some ppl thought it was Davros and I was genuinely baffled. I think I thought the eye had Sontaran vibes

It looks so cool!! Also that is literally Jared Leto and I can’t get over it

I do kinda wonder why Swarm chose now to escape? Or like, what suddenly gave him the ability to do it. Maybe they said and I just missed it but it kinda feels like a nice coincidence that rn is when he manages to get out. Not a big deal but meh

I remember ppl freaking out bc they assumed Dan wouldn’t have a good laptop but I don’t see the issue tbh. If anything I just think it’s a bit shit bc the laptop doesn’t even look that good, like it kinda basic. Woulda been better if it was unreal looking

Right from the beginning Dan and Karvanista are an iconic duo

I’m actually obsessed with then someone calls the Doctor out and she’s like ‘lol idk what you mean’ but she says it so poorly like she doesn’t even attempt to sound like she’s telling the truth it’s so good

Yaz getting annoyed and frustrated at 13 in this ep is just so amazing idek what to say. This was what I so desperately wanted to see from S13 and Chib really pulled through

Claire interrupting their chat is so annoying. It happens multiple times in this ep and then in 13.06. Like instead of a convo naturally coming to its end, something gets in the way so characters aren’t forced to actually respond and it makes me crazy

Proud 13 :’) I love seeing Yaz be more Doctor-y and I feel like her literally controlling the TARDIS is a 10/10 way of showing it

The whole scene in the TARDUS where 13 says about not mentioning everything is 10/10 (up until the convo gets cut off)

I do think what’s going on with Azure is fairly obvious. She got sent away as her punishment and I assume chameloned, and the warning that showed up was them telling her Swarm escaped. And then when Swarm got to her he managed to reverse it/get her back. I do think more time spent on her might have been nice but also I think all the info we need is literally right there so it’s like who cares idk. I imagine there was some cut scenes and we got left with the bare bones of what we need to understand which is fine imo

This is literally so ‘I’m the Doctor, I’m a Time Lord….’ coded

Yaz and Dan have a 10/10 vibe literally instantly it’s unreal

Lupars having designated humans is so cool. I also love that Karavanista does what he needs to do but isn’t happy about it lmao

Love that Dan shouts and Yaz tells him off. Also odds on Yaz wanting to sneak in bc she thought she might be able to hear some of what the Doctor and Karavanista were talking about before the Doctor realised she was there

How close Swarm gets to 13 is so uncomfortable and weird I love it ngl

I love Yaz doing all the talking when Dan asks questions. Like even before they get separated from the Doctor Dan is more like Yaz’s companion than 13’s

I love that the Vortex energy does literally nothing. Shows how powerful the Flux is

The cliffhanger of this ep is so cool I stg. I even love all the shots to the ppl we met in this ep. I think I used to think it was a bit cringe but this time round it got me hyped as fuck

I used to post here under SN’s that referred to K-pop ‘uncle’ fans before I realized it’s not really a funny joke; I had actually joined Tumblr in part at least because I had been ‘training’ or studying to become a high school teacher and wanted to see what today’s teens were up to.  

I later got really in to K-pop particularly Girls Generation and even contemplated rekindling my Media Studies interests with a view to describing the ways in which GG were trying to change culture or open people’s eyes to beauty, perhaps ‘moral beauty,’ or ‘naive and sentimental love.’  

I associated GG with a Victorian cult of ‘moral beauty’ from people such as Oscar Wilde, Walter Pater, and above all John Ruskin (’Sesame and Lilies’; ‘Unto this Last’), who believed that somehow ‘tiny, pretty’ things could help redeem the human race.  Girls Generation were ‘sex-positive, love-positive.’  

Later on the so-called 3rd generation girl-groups got really out of hand in my opinion.  My favorite group, Oh My Girl, were interdicted at an airport for supposed or real underage sex-trafficking which isn’t really funny and might not be fake news either.  

I later gravitated toward Gfriend, in part because SinB / Hwang Eunbi and Sowon / Kim Sojung were Roman Catholic, and in part because I thought they more than GG or OMG were ‘measured, circumspect,’ and ‘as honest as one possibly can be without saying too much’ when it comes to the possibilities of romantic or affectionate ‘amor’ love and what young couples can expect to face when they set out to tread ‘the fragrant path, the virgin road, the bridal way.’  

My favorite GG song - the only one I really listen to or think about much anymore - is ‘Complete.’  ‘In a beautiful season, sunshine flashing on the eyelashes...’  I loved how Lee Sooman or whoever produced ‘Complete’ didn’t over-blend the girls’ voices but made it like a children’s song in which the individuality of the singer wasn’t subsumed in some corporate whole or monolithic aggregate ‘message’ (rather, desire to convey or force upon the listener a single aesthetic effect).

My favorite Gfriend song was ‘Sunshine,’ although mostly I listened to a reminiscent fan-music version called ‘Sunshine Nature Version,’ which was a ‘strident’ (the word people mis-use when they mean ‘striding, propulsive’) piano-cover with a video that featured Gfriend’s trip to Slovenia.

IDK if it matters at this late point in the history of K-pop’s 3-gen and the Delta variant of Covid-19 which could burn through much of the Western World or at least Anglo America, but my actual favorite Gfriend member was Yerin, Ms. Jung Yerin, partly b/c she looks like my former student from Korea and was born in the same year; 1996.

I had very high hopes / ambitions for this student, who from the beginning I considered ‘suasive, gentlewomanly, possessing savoir-faire.’  She said that she wanted to be a type of service-worker but I thought she could make it as a diplomat or something in politics.  She put me in mind of Colossians 4:6, ‘Let your speech be always savory, seasoned with salt, so that you may have an answer for everyone you meet.’  She had the gift of speaking directly to you as if she knew who you were, understanding her audience you could say.  Though she came from a poor and - quite literally - disenfranchised area of the RoK, with left behind people, where they said the best kids around couldn’t compete with the worst from Seoul, I still thought that she was under-selling herself.  IDK why in retrospect I assumed that a young woman’s not wanting a high-powered career automatically constituted under-selling oneself, particularly when I myself gave up on law school &c. a long time ago and didn’t feel that bad about it; or at least, nary worse about that than about the human race in general and how business is done in this day and age.  (I realize that is moral relativism.)

I had sex-problems before going to Korea and I had them after.  Tumblr made them worse in some ways and K-pop.  Moreover, ‘sweet love and sex’ are not going to save everyone.  There are all kinds of terrifying evil things in the world today.  I read that during the initial stage of the coronavirus pandemic in Wuhan a lot of Chinese were ‘looking at porn’ / viewing pornography.  Maybe many kids in America were as well and perhaps it has accelerated the brain-damage and brutalization of character / taste that are wrought by everything that pornography tells the brain and soul about sex, about women, and particularly about young women.  

I honestly think pornography will be banned in the near future.  I used to joke, ‘Some people are libertarians, socialists, some believe in helping the poor and weak and others believe in laissze-faire sink-or-swim it’s-all-your-fault neoliberal capitalism’ - and reply, ‘I’m a paternalistic theocrat.’  I don’t think I was really joking either.  

Anyway, Tumblr appears to be a good venue for young people to communicate with one another but it also leads to indulgent fantasies of revenge (’let’s hang / guillotine all business-majors), with attendant destructive ideologies.  There is also a huge amount of sexual content that might seem funny or ironic to Millennials like me and what we sometimes used to call ‘Zoomers’ / Gen Z).  However, this pornography involves real human beings and in more extreme cases abets actual child-rape and child-sex-trafficking while brutalizing people’s sexual tastes worldwide.

Today I think there are bigger things to worry about than what author Yiyun Li calls ‘bedroom business’ such as war, the current pestilence which continues to mutate and kill in unexpected ways and places, along with flawed vaccines that can also kill, probable famine in some areas and a huge backsliding into poverty for IIRC something like 100 million children worldwide; which can further expose them to lost educational opportunity, hunger, disease, and again, rape and sex-trafficking.  Americans moreover, I think (or rather US and Canadian citizens), consider much of the rest of this world and many of these souls or ‘particular individuals’ to be more or less empty vessels; statistics; or else totally unreal.  My own mom keeps telling me that basically I was never in Korea, that Korean isn’t a language but only a set of symbols, and that Koreans don’t exist or if they do I never saw one.  I recently started to feel as if I want to leave America for good but I have spent a lot of my money on books and I am not sure where I would go.

At any rate, if anyone picks this up, at least take cognizance of the fact what people post on Tumblr and AsianFanfics isn’t good advice but more like ‘object-lessons’ or portraits of the ‘beautiful and damned.’  I don’t think stuff like this makes people happy.  

I assured somebody a while back I would quit listening to K-pop and did so except for Taeyeon.  The last groups I followed were IZ*ONE and Dreamcatcher, and I went to the DC concert in 2019 in Chicago.  Everyone says that DC’s leader is more beautiful IRL than in pictures but at 25 she already looked deepy furrowed with concern and it was clear that her inner beauty had outstripped the face that she could make to meet the faces she was meeting.  She didn’t have a personality or manner or form that could be easily put in to a single frontal category or sense; I think F. Scott Fitzgerald might call her a ‘personage not personality’ - though, I am against summing up women, as if we could box up a person like that.

People today appear still to be reeling from ‘Trumpism’ in terms of this obsession with image or frontal ‘imago’ and the obsession with making ‘be be the end of seem’ or demanding that everyone look the part tout court.  Donald Trump for instance distrusted his highly talented National Security Adviser (Lt. Gen.) H.R. McMaster due to the latter’s intellectual appearance, and in spite of the fact that while Trump was on the phone in Manhattan McMaster was commanding an M1A1 main battle-tank in Operation Desert Storm and winning a Silver Star.  McMaster also nowadays has been working with an organization I highly respect, North Korea News, where they try to learn and spread the truth about people I consider some of the most Cross-bearing in the world and also important to humanity’s future in spiritual terms as well w/r/t authentic and useful understanding of human / world / US history since about 1866.

I am also concerned RN that many people are trying to ‘teach themselves’ more about the gross and scope of all human history and particularly in terms of Anglo-American policy in the Indo-Pacific since the Battle of Singapore or so, the consequences of Japanese imperialism and whether or to what extent the Empire of Japan was the ‘fault’ of Commodore Perry, as if America’s excessive affection for or faith in the value of commerce caused Japanese to commit mass-rape and conduct biological warfare in China, when they ought to be loving their neighbors today and making critical investments in their children, as well as securing the innocent against blowback from mistakes from the past that no one can totally fix but for which there are numerous self-appointed revengers and punishers in the world right now.

I often in the past few years thought of a Christian AsianFanfics author - my favorite fanfiction artist - SummerChild, of ‘Saving Suzy’ about an alienated writer and a former sex slave at the apparent end of the world; and wondered whether I ought also to plant some kind of ‘good’ fanfic in a poisoned soil like AFF or else totally take leave of and separate myself from that platform.  I think in retrospect that separation from evil is important, though making people aware of their evil and that evil is evil is also important; and that separating oneself from the evil is ultimately the loving thing to do for evil people and evildoers as well, AFAIK.  I guess for the Christian that means leaving your bad family though in ultimate terms this separation also means dividing God’s holiness and His holy or sanctified chosen ones away from the damned and reprobate in Hell.

IDK if anyone will pick this up but starting in 2016 I started to see visions of (Pope, St.) John Paul II; and recently, finally began to read his encyclical ‘Human Life’ (Humana Vitae), which apparently predicted a lot that is happening in the world today, such as abortion, euthanasia, or the commercialization of the human body such as through organ-harvesting and rape-for-sale in Xinjiang.  Today many people are waging private and/or public wars in America at least and appear to feel anything goes; they’ll apologize for anything and everything and refuse to draw a line and they will compliment themselves for being understanding.  They also appear to think that erasing a line is humanistic, life-affirming etc. without grasping that they erase human lives when they erase certain lines.

I honestly don’t even know how long I will live though I am ‘only’ 36.  I am concerned that Covid-19 and the broader Judgment of which it was coefficient or an instrument is going to get worse for North America than it has been so far though many people want to celebrate and celebrate.  They’re preparing to resume life but I am frankly really concerned about the nearness of death, spiritual and physical.  I wish I could warn someone, tell someone.  I am trying to hold on to life and a ‘culture of life’ though I came to this late; and I also rebelled and raged against some of my best ‘teachers’ due to their attitudes towards East Asia, which I felt were either dismissive of the value of lives or else touristic.  If I live through ‘Delta summer’ I am wishing to move to Vietnam, Korea, anywhere, Latin America, Somalia, where there is a very high birthrate and therefore a lot of potential human value, not to say grounds for miracles.  But I’m sincerely concerned the American Midwest, erstwhile impregnable or unreachable by most weapons of war, and relatively untouched by plagues within living memory, is less prepared for what is or could be coming than they want to believe; and that neither their individual or family institutions nor their social / governmental institutions are prepared nor honestly want to be, which strikes me as insane because it’s pointless to let bad things happen either macro such as to cities or micro such as to tomorrow’s children, when measures could be taken to protect the undefended and provide for the sick and poor now and to train kids in the right way so they stand at least a chance.  People are really waiting for what Confucius called ‘signs and wonders.’  I wish I could warn them not to let everything happen because everything has meaning - a famous quasi-Christian author wrote a book called ‘Everything is Spiritual’ although by this reasoning Hell is also extremely spiritual or at least meaningful - but not everything is good or expedient to say least.  So many people are also obsessed or fascinated with the CCP or the seemingly infinite spiral of Chinese history and others are still debating Hitler and Stalin as if understanding such matters were intrinsically valuable; to which one could reply, ‘Whose value and for whom?’  It reminds me of a debate I had decades ago with somebody who I think sense then lost their moral compass to an extent but who then rightly reproached me for seeking theological or jurisprudential arguments for forgiving the most clearly demonic individuals and actions, and neglecting those who clearly deserve a little more bread, a little more attention and graciousness, better teachers, better places to sleep, desks to study at, quiet homes, reasonable adults - good police also - and stand to benefit far more from what one poet called ‘the sweet and obvious side of the light’ than from these extreme theological / eschatological exercises.  In any event lately I was trying to support and promote various authors, political leaders, old friends and others I had some confidence in but I found that nearly one and all were more interested in either a) dissecting me or b) fighting ‘duels’ with either me or one another over questions like ‘How much napalm was dropped on North Korea’ as if knowing the exact quantity would give them the ‘critical mass’ of factors for their ‘decision point’ on whether they should care.  IDK, how much phosphorous and napalm burning you would make you care?  They clearly never read ‘Fire Road.’  These people are all invested in their own careers and constituencies and ‘sunk costs’ as well as conscious or unconscious assumptions about either their national identity and ‘national character’ or what used to be called sth like ‘the peculiar genius of the _ people.’  They wanna fly the same flags as ever.  I was listening to ‘Grace to You’ with the incomprehensibly erudite Pastor-Teacher John MacArthur who was teaching today that Rome was / is the final empire, before and after what is called the ‘Church Period.’  Whether it’s the European Union or some other consortium or confederacy it never really went away.  The Roman Empire has presided nevertheless over hugely nauseating and at least somewhat avoidable or fungible atrocities and it makes me sad to see so many just reading the papers or going out.  I wish I had more money, resources, connections, a platform.  I guess everyone wants more.  Night is falling over Milwaukee, it seems to me, and many people think this is a story - they think it’ll be fun / interesting / a learning experience.  What more is there is to learn?  Beginnings, endings.  I find that someone wants me to deal in ‘apologetics’ and others want me to tell them exactly what will happen in the future, though I think that a) I’m not that important and b) I really don’t know if what I see is either true or ‘evitable.’  I only recently gained something like a loving heart toward even the people I most believed in and admired in the past, who loved me, and taught me about love, and to love.  I read St. Augustine for years and thought of him when I was in KR and over the years also came to theorize reading and interpretation / hermeneutics in a pretty sophisticated way of which I am dangerously proud.  I avoided personal responsibility over the years and right now am concerned for both my own life and the lives and souls many in the city I live in, people from the past and even people I have never met.  I sincerely think that there could be a major terrorist attack in Milwaukee or a flare-up of the Delta and/or other Covid variants whereas people want to ram everything through the way it is including their children in the name of some vain defiance of reality.  Parading around.  Driving 80-90 on I-95.  I did that back in 2016, driving with headlights on all day.  Instead of this parade or death-life-race or whatever corporatist fantasy it is they should stop trying to do everything at once and think of their souls, think of their kids, think of not telling lies or equivocations about abortion or homosexuality or whether a good marriage is a good marriage or whether it’s better to tell the truth or tell lies.  Delta Covid, private arsenals of automatic weapons, Russian suitcase-nukes smuggled by North Korea’s Bureau 39 on the behalf of ISIS or Syria or God knows who.  But the person I believe in maybe more than anyone else in the world, my ‘sister’ of nationality I shouldn’t say but fellow believer, told me in no uncertain terms to be concerned about (thermo)nuclear terrorism.  

4 million people died so far from coronavirus and people have been talking since 9.11.2001 about how ‘the real world’ was finally coming to America but 9.11, Katrina, et cetera are not really comparable in scale to what ‘the real world’ has been to Russia, Korea, Europe, et al.

A List of My Fave Youtubers

At this point, Youtube has become a whole different platform with very specific content. I spend hours on Youtube watching vlogs, challenges, unboxings etc.. There Youtubers are friends I wish I had, basically. It’s a one sided friendship. 

1. Shane Dawson

Shane is on top of my list because I just finished his book ‘It Gets Worse’ and his sense of humour, his book, his personality his entire a being is a ray of sunshine and he is an inspiration. 10/10 would recommend. Also started watching his vids only after he started dating Ryland who is my babe and is at the end of this list because this list is no particular order.

Also would highly recommend Trying Dumb Life Hacks cuz that’s what got me hooked. Shane eating weird shit and trying to burn his house down. Here’s a whole playlist.

2. Alex Wassabi 

Another Youtuber I watch because of their significant other. Honestly didn’t know him before he started dating LaurDiy who is also on this list. Honestly, they’re couple goals. I watch Lauren’s Vlog and Alex’s Vlog and it’s like I was their at their anniversary in Hawaii. I might be a little too invested in them... I follow their dogs on Instagram. But they’re so positive and Alex is so funny and focused and kind :’) If you ain’t smiling, you’re doing it wrong guise!!

3. LaurDiy

So I’ve ben subscribed to LaurDiy for years and she’s always been my fave from the Asian girl squad (which is Remi, Mia, Tiffany + honorary Alisha sometimes). I love all these girls and have had phases with all but Lauren is so cute and her DIYs honestly make sense (not like I’m actually recreating any tbh).I love her DIY challenge series, BRING IT BACK @LAURDIY  Honestly her music videos and stuff is lame but I’m glad she’s living her best life. I think the couple vlogs are hella fun! :D 

4. Meghan Rienks

OMG TIME FOR MY LITERAL QUEEN MEGHAANN. She replied to me on Twitter once. She said and I quote “Hahhahahhahah fuck you” y’know what they say if you can make your girl laugh and she want’s to fuck me wink wink Anyway Meghan’s been my fave since idk she was in highschool? I was in highschool? We the same age. She’s actually a month older than me. Yes, I know her birthday. No, that’s not weird. Anyway, after highschool she went to college, joined a sorority, got bullied? (idk why I put the ? I know she did. We got through it though), dropped out of college, did this one show on AwesomenessTV with Lauren Elizabeth which was pretty funny. got a house, a car, did a TV show (Freakish on Hulu), is in a movie with Ali from PLL and is basically is a real housewife at this point. I have been with her through her whole journey and sent her countless asks on Tumblr @meghanrosette thanks for the acknowledgement

Any Meghan is super funny. She is a “beauty blogger” but like let’s be real everyones watching cuz shes funny and relatable and also gorgeous. Like she’s not useful for actual tips I guess but A+ entertainment. Like honestly one time she went to the VS fashion show and took a pic with Gigi and passed as a model? Unreal She still does fashion/ beauty videos. She bakes. She also does this podcast called Don’t Blame Me and Grace Helbig, my other queen was on the last episode so the fangirl in me is ded rn.  

5. Clevver Style

Honestly, this is my goal. I don’t think this is where the channel was supposed to go. But bitches love trash content. Every video they do is so informative on trends but also so funny. Lily and Joslyn are like the two best friends I never had. Or did but we haven’t talked since that one fight in London... 

Anyway, Beauty Break is my fave show. Idk what else they do except for Lunchy Break which I thought was a joke but now it’s a full blown show?  They should do more of Dirty Laundry tbh.

Meghan is on a lot of episodes of Beauty Break but I love them equally and individually without any bias. A+ Would Recommend 

6. Grace Helbig

I’ve honestly been into Grace since Daily Grace which seems like a decade ago but I don’t think Youtube is that old. Grace, Mamrie and Hanna Hart are the literal Holy Trinity of Youtube. Grace is the funniest imo. I am obsessed with her Fashion reviews for Red Carpets. They are so mean without being mean spirited at all and that’s comedy goals. Out of everyone on this list, no one makes me happier than Grace because she is the funniest. Also she’s not just a youtuber check Dirty30 Movie and Camp Takota! And Not Too Deep!

7. 7. JennxPenn

Jenn’s book “Really Professional Internet Person” is a fucking gem and honestly has so much good advice! Jenn’s always done edgy content but she is supeeerrr funny. She does mostly like viral challenges, she’s even created a few I think. She once let a Postmates guy come into her house and do her makeup?? I think shes hella cool and relatable. I love her style (?) There’s not really much to it but I feel it. I like Jenn. You go Jenn. 

8. Mr. Kate

OMG SHE IS A FUCKING GENIUS. So you know how you start a YouTube video and their voice is annoying so you’re like fuck it I can’t and you go watch something else. Now I’m really sorry Mr. Kate I love you, but her voice is kinda squeaky?? Sorry!! But  stick with her she is AMAZING. She has done EVERYONE’S ROOM! Wait I forgot to mention in my excitement. Mr. Kate is an interior decorator? + artist. She is a fucking genius! Like all your fave Youtubers including but not limited to Superwoman’s room and office, Liza Koshy, MyLifeAsEva, and Meghan, Joslyn, Grace’s office that she shares with Mamrie and Hanna. And literally every other popular Youtuber. She has a few different shows on her channel. All relating to room makeovers. I personally love Omg! We’re Coming Over: Digitally Famous where she does YouTubers houses. Mostly cuz I’m a creep but also because I’m into home decor. Other fun series on her channel are Breaking Beige and Office Goals on the Road!

Also special mention to her husband, Joey. He’s in all of the videos and does all the more manly heavy work. They’re couple goals. Cuuuuteeee.

9. The Sorry Girls

The Sorry Girls are Kelsey and Becky. They do some amazing DIYs. And this is not your average spray paint glue gun DIY. These girls are hardcore. But it’s honestly empowering how they just casually use a fucking saw and build things. Their videos are very original and very aesthetically pleasing. I personally love their Dollar Store DIYs because it’s stuff we can actually find here in India and are still pretty doable. My fave is that they each make a DIY and kinda compete? at whose  better. I just like competitions I guess. I also love their Thrift Flip series!

These girls have honestly inspired me to use a sewing machine and a saw so thanks guys!

10. Ryland Adams

MY BABE. What I love most about Ryland is his editing style. It’s freaking hilarious. But I loved him before he got his own channel. He was on Clevver News.  He did a few different shows on there but I don’t think he’s there anymore? But I could be wrong I don’t know everything but I haven’t seen him in a while. Anyway love the life he’s living with Shane from the top of this list. He’s so cute and funny I wanna be friends with them.

oh wow, the big questions, huh?? LONG ONES TOO1. sweats nervously i've always kind of been a long writer?? i just have a lot to say, usually, which takes the form of excessively long fics. what helps me get that long is that i have to describe exactly what i'm seeing in my mind's eye. that means every single piddly detail of the room i'm describing or the movements of my characters. and my dialogue is long, too! which you can never go wrong with imo. characters like to talk, so let em talk! then ofc, internal monologue and consideration gives a word count boost, too......overall, however, i wouldn't worry about your word count too much. it's the pacing of the story that matters. don't let things happen too fast. you can avoid that with more description or more dialogue or more musing. 2. my orig fics........oh god i don't even know which one im turning over in my head rn. 'on angels and crossroads' is more of a trilogy, so i put that one off. then i was thinking of the one involving revolutionary college students and SCIENCE but that's A Lot of research and even though i technically started it, i don't know my characters well enough (also, it's a MASSIVE cast). that one might want to sit on the back burner for a while (depending on how mad i get at drumpf. i have four fucking years.) the two im turning over in my head rn are long, standalone novels that both take place in the fantasy universe i've been crafting since.....middle school. first one is the lesbian mermaid novel where a pair of biologists join an expedition to study rare marine species as an internship and end up finding out that they're working aboard a vessel dedicated to the study and capture of merfolk. what they soon come to realize, however, is that the mermaids are then sold as exotic pets with no regard for their sentience and with the help of some of the staff on board, they seek to free the merfolk on the vessel. my characters so far is the dryly humorous protagonist, Asuka; her cheery best friend, Charanya; the tiger/thresher/mako shark merfolk Asuka falls in love with, Sharp; the other two merfolk aboard, Siren, a big orca lady, and the much more timid boy who's a lionfish/dragon eel combination; the antagonist, a douchey rich kid in his late 20's who also happens to be a very precious and old OC, Alex Ligntning; Elías, a serenely beautiful boy with a sharp tongue; and the various staff members, the muscle Serik, the chief of staff Lee, the professor Mickey, and a cynical vet who only stays on to keep Alex from destroying the merfolkthe final idea im tossing around is a magical girl novel......bc the genre is so fucking cool and we don't have anything like it over here in the states, i'd like to take a stab at it! (and not at all bc i finished flip flappers and am lowkey obsessed with it and also wanted to take the cool ideas of gatchaman and kiznaiver that disappointed me and turn them into something cool no not at all). anyway, it would feature a boy-girl sibling pair, a more experienced magical girl, a wild magical girl, the final boss, a god, and ofc, a dragon. no names as of yet, but i WOULD get to tie in one of my favorite elements of my magical world, The Unreality, and all the rules and madness that come along with it. the idea is along the same lines as flip flappers though: someone is fucking with the fabric between worlds and, having received a wound from the god of The Unreality, even regular humans can exist inside it and harness magical powers (transformation sequence included), and fix the fabric of space and time to protect the worlds from bleeding into each other. i have some fun twists in mind for the story and ofc, lesbians. 3. LMAO TALK ABOUT MY KIN WITH HINATA???? EASY PEASY. boy is self-centered as FUCK. only looks to see how he himself can improve and will do absolutely anything to get the result he wants, whether it means over-practicing or sneaking into a training camp he wasn't invited to. he's also got a shitfuckton of confidence in what he can do and motivation to take the world by storm. at the same time, he's aware of his weaknesses and is working to erase them. he's got more pep and energy than anyone except maybe noya, and wears that energy on his sleeve. he also loves talking to people and loves his friends and is incredibly social! im not dumb like him but im also crap at studying. ALSO THE FACT THAT HES LIKE 'WHAT, WANNA FIGHT????' TO TOUGH PEOPLE AND THEN RUNS AWAY. ME. ME. our attitudes, motivations, and personality are fucking aligned perfectly, only im mentally ill and at my core, an introvert. and ofc, my volleyball is writing.
