(Young) Magnifico Character Sheet
Some prepro for my upcoming fan comic "Best Intentions." I am fully aware that this specific brand of brain rot is so specific that there are probably about 4 other people in the world who care about this movie, but I invite them to join me. I will begin posting pages starting in January 2024 and hope to keep a monthly update schedule. And if no one is interested, I'll use this blog as a place to house my comics.
But my god did they leave so much meat on the bone with this character. I have to flesh out his story or I will never know peace.
Blog is still under construction, will work on getting an icon and banner made. Enjoy my boy, more prepro to come.

And another thing—the whole premise of Asha’s motivation, her whole character, is that she believes the people of Rosas deserve “more” than what Magnifico is giving them.
Tumblr media
And I’ve already made posts about how that’s already kind of lame, because the movie doesn’t give you a good look at the citizens of Rosas really “suffering” because of Magnifico. They’re not all dull, or diffident, or zombies or anything. So she’s not really rescuing them from anything too bad, in that sense.
But that’s not the point of this post.
The point of this post is that Asha believes all the wishes in Rosas deserve the chance to come true, because she believes that all the intentions of the people in Rosas are basically good…she believes they’re all basically good people.
Tumblr media
All their wishes are, therefore, good, harmless wishes.
But that’s so boring. And untrue. Not all wishes are good! Very few of the things we choose to wish for are the best things we could choose to wish for. And even less of the things people wish for are what they actually need.
Wish makes a lame attempt at the end, with the clunky Peter-Pan background character, to suggest that what the people of Rosas were missing was a work ethic to achieve their dreams, and collaborate with others, themselves. But it’s lame. And still not compelling. Because not everybody has good wishes. In fact, almost ALL of Disney’s best stories are about a character wishing for something that isn’t completely good for them. I already made a post that was kind of about this, but seriously. Having characters who want something, then discover that something is not so good for them, or something else would be even better, is one of Disney’s trademark tools for making compelling characters and adventures.
Tumblr media
Flynn, in Tangled, just wanted to live a life of ease where nobody could bother him or take anything from him. And you know, he’s an orphan. They explained why he has that bad wish, because of his life and the circumstances that made him how he is—so we understand. We don’t hate him for having a bad wish. We get it. But then it’s wonderful to watch him learn to wish for something better! That’s a big chunk of the story! Just like how Rapunzel wished to see the floating lights, because it meant exploring and understanding the world. Not a bad wish, but not everything she could’ve had. Love, with Flynn, was an even better wish.
You could do this with villains, too, as the opposite. You can say,
Tumblr media
Gaston had a bad wish. He wished to have Belle, simply because she was the most beautiful girl in town and he felt like he “deserved” her as the most beautiful man in town—and didn’t want to settle for second-best. And he has plenty of evidence to look at in order to recognize that his wish is bad, it’s not good for anyone including him—he has Belle’s selfless love for her father, the Beast’s refusal to fight back, and other adoring girls who would love to have him. But he won’t let it go. He won’t give up his wish or change it to something good—because he won’t acknowledge that it’s bad. So you have a great villain.
You get lots of great villains that way. Having bad wishes, but refusing to give them up. I mean, every Disney villain has a dream too, you guys realize that? And Disney had no problem saying “some wishes are bad” then. So they had strong characters with believable motivations/performances and a gripping story. Plus, actual impactful morals.
Tumblr media
Stitch realizing his wish to destroy is bad, and changing it to a wish for family, like what Lilo and Nani have.
Tumblr media
Clayton wishing he could “conquer” Africa, right down to selling its most fearsome creatures, right down to refusing to give up in a fight with Tarzan and winding up getting killed for it.
Tumblr media
Hercules changing his wish from being a god to being on earth with Meg, because that’s a better fulfillment of his previous wish, which was just to find where he belongs.
Tumblr media
Cruella refusing to change or give up her bad wish for a fur-skinned coat made from the pelts of the pets of the friends who insulted her.
Tumblr media
The fairies continually giving up their wishes to do what’s best for Aurora and the kingdom—they give up their magic when it fails to undo Maleficent’s curse, then they give Aurora herself back to her real parents even though they’ve loved her, then they put the whole kingdom full of their friends to sleep to spare them the heartbreak of losing Aurora.
I mean, you could think of this as Part II of my earlier post, but what I’m saying is, Wish doesn’t acknowledge one of the most fundamental things about Disney stories: wishes aren’t always good, and they’re not always good for the people making them.
I get that Magnifico was taking away the chance for Rosas to find that out for themselves. No character in Rosas gets to go on their own journey of “is my wish worth getting.” But basing a movie off of that set them up for a boring movie. The whole concept of forgetting the wish you have, but it was probably good/harmless, makes the characters stop being characters, and the story super bland.
The only character that has a wish that he tries to make come true and has to choose to either keep or let go of is Magnifico—and his wish is “maintain absolute power.” Not even the Evil Queen had a wish that was that one-dimensional and bland—at least she had something personal in there. Magnifico doesn’t have a backstory or a personality that hints at a backstory which would explain his being a control-freak. He just has a burnt tapestry hanging on a wall that he sometimes glances at and says super vaguely, “nobody should ever have to live with their wish not coming true!” What wish, Magnifico? What did you wish for that you didn’t get? Say something that makes you real to me, or else I don’t care. Like everything else in this movie.

Yk something that I would really enjoy if Yana did in twisted wonderland? Make evil/awful characters be RSA students instead of NRC students. It would make sense considering rook, silver, Kalim, and kinda ortho? Are kind people with quirky personality that don’t really fit into the campus at all. Plus, I feel like a perfect school with no issues is too bland and too much of a dream come true. Yana never came off as the type to toss potential for a good thriller. Anyways, My vote for secretly fucked up RSA student?
It 100% has to be lotso hugging bear from Toy Story 3, he fits perfectly into being an awesome handsome swell class representative that everyone adores and respect, to outsiders though? There is something off about how he runs the classes and newcomers… 😭 ahh, there is so much I can go off but don’t wanna make this too long.
Obviously we have Hans from frozen, hector from Coco, Robert Callaghan from big hero 6, there’s prob a few more I skipped but those are the few I can think that can fit into RSA. Respectful young men with potential futures ahead of them, goody two shoes that don’t defy the law… at least what our NRC boys think. Just a simple idea though, I don’t think it will ever happen so a poor person can only dream 🙃
Tumblr media
TWST!Lotso perpetually smells like strawberries/j
You never know, it might! Yana did say that she wanted to continue the main story of Twisted Wonderland following what I will call the “first arc” (which encompasses all 7 OB boys and Grim). There’s also future Halloween events to consider (Yana has already indicated that’s she’s very excited for the next one)!
We don’t know exactly what that “next” main story might entail, but a lot of fans theorize it will involve increased exposure to or interactions with RSA. If that’s the case, it would be very boring if the RSA students all turn out to be perfect and problem-free. I’m sure some trouble would eventually arise.
The “twist” villains of Disney seem like perfect candidates to be the “black sheep” in a school supposedly full of good-natured souls. It would also give TWST an opportunity to actually… fix??? Make up for??? Some of their poor implementation in the actual films (which is a point they’ve been criticized for, since most recent Disney movies have either had bad twist villains or no “real” villain at all). In my opinion, Hans is a particularly poorly written one—
If we want to get super modern, I think even King Magnifico from Wish (I think it’s out to the general public now?) would count as a twist villain. (Even if the advertisements all make it clear he’s the bad guy, within his own universe he is still considered a good guy!) Although… looking back at the twisted characters we’ve seen so far, all of them essentially come from older, more “classic” Disney films, so maybe the far shinier and more recent Disney villains won’t be “twisted” so soon?? 🤔 That’s just me speculating though!

I just finished watching Wish and I decided to write down everything that I found wrong with the animation, the songs, the story. I found 36…I’m never watching that movie again. I won’t list all the things but I’ll sum it up into paragraphs.
The story felt choppy, I didn’t think it flowed well. 30 mins in and it wasn’t the halfway mark but felt like it.
They tried to mix 2D and 3D and failed. The 2D backgrounds with 3D characters felt like I was watching a school play. And why is everyone’s clothes so blocky?
The songs speak for themselves. The lyrics made no sense and the beat of the songs were off. At All Costs should have been cut when they cut Starboy, it did not fit the new context. I’m A Star was excruciating to listen to and This Is The Thanks I Get did not feel like a villain song
Asha is….Asha. When she says that her weakness is that she gets irrational when nervous she immediately gets told that she is wrong and that it’s “caring too much”, yes I see that this could have been what she was told to say for the interview so she could get the job but they didn’t clarify if that was what it was for.
She didn’t even get the job yet and immediately asked if Magnifico could grant her grandfather’s wish. You can clearly see that he gets upset with her request, you can see his face falter after she asks. He was so happy to have an applicant who would be a perfect successor and then his happiness gets crushed in seconds and even mentions how some people wait until a year to ask for things, he was going to give her the job and then she ruined it.
Wishing for “more than this”. Girl, your kingdom is prospering and people have their wishes away willingly knowing that they might not get granted in their lifetime, look at your grandpa he has been waiting for so long and didn’t care waiting a while longer until you told him that his wish will never be granted.
And on that subject he told Asha not to tell him what his wish was because since he knew it was never going to be granted why deal with the heartbreak but SHE PERSISTED! Also she refused to bake his birthday cake. She didn’t say “I can’t because of stuff” she said “No” then she said she couldn’t but only after Sabino gets upset… “I care too much” “I see how much you look after others” SHE WOULDN’T BAKE HER GRANDPA A BIRTHDAY CAKE!!
The line “I never knew I needed room to grow.” Gee, arrogant much? Also she genuinely believes that she is right, doesn’t think well maybe the king has a point, no, she thinks she’s right.
Star doesn’t grant wishes…then what’s its purpose? Also apparently wishing better for your family is selfish.
Oh the goat can talk now…he’s three weeks old and talks like an adult and I’m not saying that just because of his VA
MAGNIFICO WAS RIGHT!! If we have learned anything from The Monkey’s Paw is that wishes can be dangerous even if you mean well. Also we never learn about his past, it’s mentioned but we are never told what actually happened. The villagers only care about their wishes and Magnifico even calls them out on it before giving in to their request by using it to his own benefit of finding the traitor. And when he is possessed by the book they say it is difficult to defeat him but they end up defeating him rather easily
Way too many references being shoved into your face, if they were subtle it would be fine but they weren’t. Most were Peter Pan references and then he literally shows up
Just keep wishing? That’s the moral and not “never give up on your dreams”?
I’m not sure if that’s all of it but that is what I gathered…if this wasn’t the 100 years anniversary movie I wouldn’t give it much thought but since it is…this was pain it hurt, the disrespect to their legacy. Not to mention the scene where they reference the Cinderella transformation. This didn’t feel like a good old age Disney movie, this felt like a new age Disney cash grab. This never should have been the celebration movie

Wish (2023)
Tumblr media
Since I’ve been hearing so many mixed reviews I had to see this movie for myself
🚨***CAUTION SPOILERS ***🚨
I watched the trailer when it was released and like most people I was really questioning the animation BUT I tried to keep an open mind
I also wasn’t sure exactly what the plot was aside from “Evil king is greedy on who’s wishes get grant”
ALRIGHT ON TO THE REVIEW
Now it starts off as a storybook intro
The king Magnifico is the only one in the kingdom who’s able to use magic and grant wishes
Every month he does a wish granting ceremony for the citizens of the kingdom
The main character Asha is in the running of becoming the kings apprentice which is a nice change from another princess story
She wants to help make people’s wishes come true (especially her grandfather Sabino who just turned 100 but hasn’t gotten his wish granted)
Now this is where more of the whole “wish” concept gets explained
When Magnifico takes a persons wish they forget what their wish was. So Sabino doesn’t know what exactly his wish is
A persons wish gets taken either when they turn 18 or if they officially join the kingdom
Asha ask if her grandpas wish can be granted and is immediately shut down by Magnifico
Asha finds out that Magnifico has to approve of any wish that gets granted and Sabinos wish is considered to broad
His wish is to inspire the future generations and Magnifico argues that since there’s nothing specific he wants to inspire then the wish won’t be granted
In fact most wishes won’t be granted
This prompts Asha to question why Magnifico doesn’t just return the wishes so that people will remember them and work yo make them real on their own
Obviously Magnifico being the evil control freak he is hates the idea so Asha is officially out of the running for apprentice
Asha is upset but doesn’t give up and tries to tell her Sabino his wish
He gets upset that she’s disobeying the king and revealing that his wish will never be granted
Asha runs into the woods and wishes on a star which releases this light (?) over the whole kingdom
I have to hand it to Ariana DeBose because she did an amazing job with the songs in this movie
She was the only part I knew I’d love
After he wish is when star appears
Star wants to help Asha release the wishes and starts granting the wishes of the animals around her including her pet goat Valentino
Even though I was skeptical about the animation it all worked really well during the musical numbers
The colors were vibrant and reminded me of the older Disney animation so it was great to see
It still looked a little off during talking scenes but overall not bad
Magnifico realizes someone has made a wish and tries to hunt Asha down
Returning to the kingdom Asha gets her friends to help her get back into the Kings study so Star can grant Sabinos wish
Asha gets the wish back to her grandpa who is overjoyed to learn what his wish was
At this point Magníficos guards arrive to arrest them but they escape to a nearby island
Magnifico has resulted to using dark magic in order to maintain control
He realized he could harness the power of peoples wishes and starts stealing the wishes of people who questioned him
Asha gets betrayed by one of her friends but the others still decide to help her
Queen Amaya also switched to her side after seeing how corrupt Magnifico has become
The group attempts to release all the wishes but are overpowered by Magnifico
Asha inspires everyone in the kingdom to make their own wishes and overpower Magnifico
Once again the scene where Magnifico is about to lose really shows how well this animation style can work
The shapes and colors coming off the staff blend the 2D and 3D really nice and makes his defeat really fun to watch
Amaya becomes the sole ruler of the kingdom and everyone works towards making their wishes a reality on their own
Asha is given a magic wand by Star who later returns to the sky
Now did I love it ? No
Was it as awful as people say? No
The animation was lacking in areas but the musical sequences still held up and I really liked the blending of the two styles
The story itself felt a little rushed in areas but it wasn’t to bad
Magnifico as a villain was alright
I could tell they were trying to channel Scar and the Evil Queen especially during his song
It wasn’t bad but he felt very silly. I mean Scar was a sarcastic slightly dramatic villain but he was an overall serious and threatening presence
Magnifico was just an already douchey guy who got to much power and became even worse. Not very threatening but very showy
And this movie has a lot of callbacks to older Disney movies
A LOT OF CALLBACKS
I personally didn’t mind most of it but they kept pushing the fairy godmother thing which I thought was weird and a little random
They even gave her a cape that looked similar to the one the fairy godmother from Cinderella wore
It just felt like the movie walked the audience through everything
Obviously it’s a kids movie so the theme has to be obvious but it felt like it was just be recited by the characters
Make your own dreams come true stealing wishes is bad
That’s pretty much it
Overall it’s an entertaining movie for younger kids but that’s about it
Not one I’d go out of my way to rewatch or look for
People were overly harsh about the movie but I don’t regret watching one bit and neither did any kids in the audience

Disney has had a rough year…
February 2023 - Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania falling short of its break-even point of $600 million and has a 46% score at Rotten Tomatoes
June 2023 - Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is considered one of Disney's largest financial film failures
November 2023 - The Marvels is the lowest-grossing film in the MCU, and is considered to be a box office bomb
Which leads us to “Wish” - a film intended to celebrate 100 years of Disney Studios. Its opening weekend box office was well below projections and ticket sales dropped 62% on the second weekend. The reviews were even worse with a poor 48% score at Rotten Tomatoes. (I’ll bet Bob Iger wished for better reviews and more dollars at the box office.)
I decided to check “Wish” out at my local movie theater’s discount ticket night. I have to say that the movie isn’t terrible but perhaps even worst, it’s forgettable.
The best things I can say about it is that I liked Ariana DeBose performance as the main character Asha. I also like the animation style. While is was done via CGI, it hinted at an old school 2D with backgrounds that suggested water color paintings.
But the movie was cluttered with a supporting cast of 11 characters - way too large to keep track on or care about. There was:
Asha’s mother & Grandfather
Seven coworker friends (apparently based on the Seven Dwarves which I would never have guessed).
Two anthropomorphic sidekicks (a talking goat and a magical star)
The plot was muddled and confusing. We are told that King Magnifico (voiced by Chris Pine) establish the island kingdom of Rosas and invited dispossessed people to live there with the promise he would provide them a happy and safe home. (So far so good.) But he requires them to give him their “wishes” when they reach the age of 18. (But they are getting a safe and happy place in exchange, that’s better than a “wish” that you knew how to play the guitar, right?)
The movie opens with Asha arriving at the castle to apply for a job as Magnifico apprentice and within minutes asks the king for a favor. (A little pushy isn’t she.) He tells her most people wait days or weeks or even a year to ask for a favor.
Asha wants the king to grant her grandfather’s wish. The kings explain that he thinks the wish could be dangerous and declines. So what does Asha do? She decides to start a revolution and overthrow the government. (Whaaa!!!) This is starting to sound like the Bolshevik uprising in Russia which introduced communism.
Asha’s argument is that the wishes don’t belong to the king. BUT the opening narration told us the people gave their wishes to the king (he didn’t coerce them, instead he offered them a safe and happy home in exchange). If you want to know how to play a guitar - practice at it - you won’t appreciate a skill given to you by magic!
Perhaps the biggest failure of the movie is that the songs are utterly forgettable. It’s been over a week since I saw it and I can’t remember any of the songs… not a lyric and not a tune. Disney made a big mistake hiring songwriter Julia Michaels who is known for writing for the likes Justin Bieber, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. Were fans of teen pop music the target audience for “Wish”?!?

What More Could You WISH For??
Hello Disney Movie fans!!
Well, over the Thanksgiving weekend, I had the opportunity to go and see Disney’s latest “Princess” Movie, Wish! As a black woman I was excited to support this Afro-Latina heroine. As a child of the 90s…(ahem the Disney Renaissance) I am always pumped for a Disney movie. Nothing gets me into the holiday spirit like seeing a good movie during this time. That being said Wish was not everything I wished it would be. 🤨 So here is my review/rant/analysis of Wish.
Review/Rant SPOILER ALERT
So first of all let’s start with the synopsis. I will keep it short as to not reveal too much. Wish is about a magical king who rules the kingdom of Rosas. The king wis given everyone’s wish in his his kingdom when the citizen turn 18. Arbitrarily the king will decide to grant some wishes. Asha is eager to become King Magnifico’s apprentice. In the process of her big interview she asks the king to grant her 100 year old grandpa’s wish. When the king refuses because he deems the wish to vague/dangerous. Asha realizes that he is less genie and more of a dictator. It then becomes Asha’s goal to to free the wishes. With the help of a celestial being, Star and a slew of other friends she sets out to give back wishes and overthrow Magnifico
Ok so that being said, I want it to be stated that overall I liked Wish. It was cute and light. I saw it in 4D and had fun with it. I think that Asha was a lovely princess. Chris Pine’s voice acting was superb. I liked that this film has a true villain There was 1 song that I really liked. Star was adorable Ultimately, I hope kids and families can enjoy Wish for what it is. But what can I say, I WISH it was more.
Like I said, I thought Asha was very pretty, but unfortunately she seems to be little more than that. Asha is sweet, loyal, hardworking, hopeful and brace. She loves her family and her friends. But what else?? What is her flaw? Essentially, she has none. But being flawless is not a strength in a story because it means the character isn’t dynamic. The character doesn’t grow emotionally as a person. Which is boring. The best Disney Princesses have flaws which they work pass. For example, in Frozen, Elsa and Anna are both flawed. Elsa is so scared of herself she can’t live or enjoy life. Anna is so desperate for love she falls for someone who doesn’t care about her. N the end we watch both characters overcome their flaws. Likewise, there is Moana, Moana is as brave as they come but her flaw is she has no knowledge of how to sail, but by the end she’s not I my a brave woman, but a knowledgeable wayfinder. Lastly, look at Tiana from Princess and the Frog, she’s a hard worker but makes no time for fun or love. By the end she learns that love and fun do have a place in her life. The list could go on and on. The characters learn important lessons, the grow. Thus the audience learns. For a target audience that is children this is important. Although an argument could be made the motto of the story is don’t stop wishing, nothing about Asha really drives that point home. The plot drives the point not the character. Which makes the story weaker.
How much more impactful would the moments had been if Asha had a flaw like being lazy and learning she had to work hard to make wishes come true? What if Asha was too dependent on wishes and learned be careful what you wish for? The story would have been deeper and would have resonated more.
The other main character in wish is King Magnifico. He was easily the most fun character and the most developed, but even his development seems incomplete. The monarch starts out as kindly. He does grant wishes, but no all wishes only the ones that aren’t dangerous (a threat to his power). Even harmless wishes like wanting to inspire others Magnifico can view as a threat. Asha and Magnifico conflict not so much because he won’t grant all the wishes, but because he won’t let the ppl attempt to make their own dreams come true. Magnificos argument is trying and failing leads to heartbreak and pain, he is keeping the people from pain. Also some wishes are too dangerous This almost give validity to Magnifico. Magnifico begins to elaborate on how he faced pain, but we never get the full backstory. Only a tapestry that alludes to the destruction of the family. I actually liked the fact that Magnifico was a pure villain. I was getting tired of traumatized family member as a villain. I was a villain that really posed a threat. But nonetheless to make Magnifico a sympathetic villain we need the backstory.
Imagine the backstories!! Magnifico is very handsome maybe his mother wished to be the fairest of them all but became so beautiful that other men wanted to marry her, stormed the castle and killed his father. This starts him on his belief that not all wishes are good. Perhaps Magnifico’s wife wanted a baby but could never have 1 and became depressed… in an effort to alleviate her depression he takes her wish and this starts him on his belief that unfulfilled wishes only lead to pain. Endless possibilities for a compelling backstory, but we get nothing!
Moreover, with Magnifico there seems to be a God complex. As a Christian, the allusion to Magnifico being a God like figure did not escape me. He is the all powerful ruler of a world he created. The people of said world give him their wishes (prayers) and he alone decides who gets their wishes granted (prayers answered). The commentary that Wish makes is that this is unjust. Thereby is it commenting God is unjust?? In the context of Magnifico. He is unjust, cruel and power hungry, but for people of faith that is not the view we have on God. God is good and he does n know what is best for us. Everything that people want is not always good. In some cases God shields is from this. The Bible states that God gives to all (rains on the just and unjust) God gives some good things to everyone… but he doesn’t give everyone everything they want at every moment and that is a good thing.
Ok, so even if Wish wasn’t making a religious commentary (I doubt it wasn’t) but even if the commentary is just about authority it still is a skewed perspective. Parents are an authority and though parents don’t always know what’s best let’s say that 8 out of 10 times parents are doing what’s best for their kids. A perspective that anytime someone denies a wish or request that they are being cruel is a narrow perspective, because sometimes they are right.
Lastly, wishes characters aren’t super memorable. They. Are many and most jokes don’t land. The world of Rosas is boring and unoriginal, I wish Rosas was at least an island where everything was made out of flowers or had some unique look or an aspect of world building, but hoping for depth and complexity in wish just appears to be WISHful thinking lol,
Well in conclusion, I enjoyed wish for what it was, but wish could be more than what it is which makes it lackluster and humdrum, not the worst but certainly not anywhere close to being the best. But that’s just me.
I’d love to know what you thought of WISH

A recorded message from author Kentaro Miura to fans of Berserk
(Google)Translated from an unofficial transcription/translation
Hello. I would like to thank all of you, old fans and new, for supporting me all of these years. It really means a lot to me and my team to know people still like this series even after all these years. And so, with a heavy heart I have to say I am quitting Berserk. Yes, this may seem sudden and poorly timed, but I do have my reasons.
For one, I have been drawing messed up sh*t for over half my life and that stuff starts to get to you. Like at first it was fun, seeing the horrible dark side of humanity, but after a while it just became tiring. I had nightmares about things I had created and no amount of comic relief would help. I added comic relief character after comic relief character and nothing helped.
From the very beginning there was Puck, who was a funny, but insightful elf who brought a little levity. He was to make sure things didn’t get too dark, but after the Lost Children chapter and it’s literal piles of dead children I decided there needed to be more, so I added Isidro. With Isidro and Puck I thought for sure the nightmares would stop, but they kept coming, so I reduced Puck to purely Chestnut Puck and added a little cute witch. That was all to balance out the trolls who were horrible. How did I even come up with that? Why did I even come up with that? After the trolls I added Magnifico, the pirates, Isma, Sonia, Mule, Azan, and others to help remedy this problem. Heck, all of Elfhelm doesn’t have one piece of nightmare fuel, just loli witches and fairies, and I still was having issues!
Anyways, so then after the Empire of the Millennium Falcon Arc with the Kushans and Reborn Femto I decided to have Guts and his group stay on the boat. I know I took a long time on that, and I’m sorry, but honestly I was hoping people would lose interest. Yes, the story was nowhere near over and the group were almost to Elfhelm, the place where Casca could possibly be healed, but I was running out of ideas. Now, we are actually in the dream world and Farnese and Schierke are trying to piece Casca back together, and I know it seems like a bad place to stop, but I just have to.
The fact is my health isn’t what it use to be and I’m getting old. Also the 2016 anime gave me cancer. Literal eye cancer. I’m going blind and that’s part of the reason why the art style changed, that’s why I’m taking so many hiatuses. It’s also why I will never finish Berserk. I love this series, but I just don’t have the passion or the ability to keep it going. But I will tell you how far I planned the ending.
First off, Casca does come back, just not in the way you thought. See Farnese does a soul transfer, like Donovan did to Guts except less prostitution (Kudos to fans who figured that out, most of the Donovan theories that I’ve seen are true; he was a much deeper character than he seemed), and becomes Casca, so now Farnese and Casca share Casca’s body and Farnese is a potato brain. Guts doesn’t notice right away, but Serpico does and he is super mad at Farnese. Farnese goes insane from Casca’s memories and Casca wants to jump off another cliff while Farnese want stuff to burn. Farnese soul transfers back into her body (this time with prostitution) because Casca won’t let her burn stuff. She masters the fire wheel spell and burns Elfhelm to the ground. Everyone is mad at her, but she realizes she wants to become a great witch and uses earth magic to fix everything. Everyone is happy again and Casca decides to come back finally. Casca does jump off a cliff, and dies instantly.
Infact, everyone gets a power up, even Roderick. Isma gets more mermaid magic, Isidro gets a second 4000 degree knife, Serpico gets parachute pants, Farnese has more magic training and inner peace, Roderick get a fairy boat (a kind gesture, but it only fits like one person), Puck gets a better bag to sleep in, and Guts gets the only woman he’s ever loved back and then immediately loses her forever. Everything seems too good to be true.
And it is.
It turns out the Elf King was evil the entire time and was luring them into a false sense of security. Why? I don’t know, but you people seem to like betrayal. All of the magic creatures attack and all of Griffith’s demons attack Elfhelm. The group escapes only to take the boat ride all the way back. This boat part is a little shorter than the last one, I planned on it only taking like 7 or 8 years instead of 10 like the last one. After being attacked by a different crew of funny pirates, and some Vikings as well, they land in Roderick’s kingdom of Ith, only to find out he too was evil the entire time and just wanted Farnese to be his rich witch wife. Farnese doesn’t care now that she’s found inner peace, but Serpico does and he accidently reveals that they are half siblings.
Nobody is really shocked. So Isma kills Roderick mostly on accident and it turns out Ith is also infected with horrible demons, so the group runs away until they meet up with Rickert, Erica, and the Kushan assassins. Rickert has become a super skilled Inventor and has built a medieval mech suit run off of magic and the will to live. It also has a giant sword. Erica has become a skilled assassin. The mech suit forms up like Power Rangers, each of the limbs representing a different element (Farnese-earth, Serpico-wind, Isma-water, and Isidro-fire) with Schierke forming the head. Guts has the Berserker armor and no reason to live beyond revenge. As terrible as the anime was, it’s more Shounen themes gave me the idea to use Mechs. I know it seems like it clashes with the dark fantasy theme of Berserk, but just think about it.
They launch an attack on Falconia and are captured immediately, but this was all a plan and they escape. They form into Voltron- I mean the mech that is totally unique in design and attack again. All of the demons attack causing havoc in the streets and lot of death and rape happen. The force breaks through to Griffith and there is a lot of ‘GRIFFFITHSU!!!!’ Griffith still has Guts outclassed by a lot so Guts becomes overcome by his beast of darkness and calls Puck ‘bug.’
Everything stops. You guys thought the Behelit was for Casca? Guts? Farnese? No. It was for Puck from the very start. Yes Puck. He’s the true villain of Berserk. You thought it was Griffith? The God Hand? The Idea of Evil? No. It was Puck.
Puck uses the Behelit  to summon the God Hand and Sacrifices Guts’ bag to gain more power. Puck then kills Casca and Rickert before being killed by Corkus. That’s right, Corkus comes back from the dead and kills Puck and then Griffith, before finally killing Guts. Just as Puck was the main villain, Corkus was the main hero not Guts.
So Yeah, that’s that’s the ending. I took a lot of inspiration from online forums after the boat burnt me out of all of my ideas. It may seem a little dark, and I know I said I didn’t think I could write a sad ending, but this really isn’t a sad ending. It actually shows how even the worse people can be redeemed and even the most innocent can fall. Actually no, it doesn’t. I know people will always point out my deep symbolism and philosophy in Berserk, honestly I didn’t write it with that intention. Most of the time it was an accident, or people reading too much into it. The whole dream speech? That was just to show how full of himself Griffith was and Guts took it too seriously like everyone else. The dream thing came to me when I was watching Disney’s Cinderella and thought, ‘dreams seem to be really popular I should include that to Berserk.’
Is that what you guys wanted? Some ridiculous, over the top, sad ending? From what I’ve heard, some fans are unhappy with how happy everything was going, but doesn’t it feel better to know this horrifying story has a horrifying ending? Doesn’t it fit all of the ‘themes’ and ‘parallels’ to that thing that happened once but has been redone five different times (*cough* Eclipse *cough*) where everyone died. Also what point is there to give a character development when you are going to kill them off for shock value anyways. That’s what I figured, just give the fans what they seem to want, a dumb edgy ending to bookend an immature and edgy beginning.
I’ve also been very busy with IdolM@aster. It is a very fun game, and a new anime recently came out for it so I’ve been watching that. It’s one of the few things that makes me want to keep drawing and creating things, so I’ve been taking inspiration from it. Some of you have noticed the lean towards more cute character design and style in the most recent chapters and that is me trying to capture Idolm@ster’s unique and eye catching visuals. It’s still not right and that frustration is another reason for my quitting Berserk. It simply is not my vision anymore (since I’m still going blind) and I’m going to try and write stories for them in the future. The dark themes are nice, but I needed more cute girls.
This is why I added characters like Sonia and Isma, and brought the Princess back. It is also why I made Griffith look even more like a girl. I guess even Guts started to look more feminine, which actually wasn’t intentional, but more of a happy accident.
I haven’t given up writing Manga for good though. I have a few ideas of writing a shoujo/slice of life/comedy/harem/sports manga, but I need to perfect my style and heal my eye cancer first. I really hope my fans forgive me and are willing to support me in my new passion: writing about cute underage girls being okay at something.
So that’s it. That’s the end.
Where’s my paycheck, I just bullsh*ted an ending for you. Why are you shushing me? What? We’re still recording? Why-
