ahhh right okay so marginalia is my wolfstar longfic, and I can answer this in a few ways.

plot-wise, it's an au set in a version of the late 1970s where grindelwald and dumbledore actually took their boyhood plans to fruition, leading to a social revolution and a fascist world order about 80 years before. within that context, sirius and remus meet at age 16/17 on deeply unequal footing but manage to be each other's catalyst for trauma recovery and joining a counter-revolution. (and yes, inevitably they catch feelings but have to negotiate that within a pretty extreme power imbalance.)

theme-wise, aka the reason I wanted to write this at all... like I said, it's about trauma recovery. it's also about worldviews being deconstructed, and fundamentally good people trying to navigate their ethics within an inherently unethical system, and about how cycles of abuse perpetuate themselves through forced complicity until the victim either says no or passes the point of no return.

I'm also exploring things that are in the canon text like magical capital (who's allowed to have a wand and how personhood/autonomy is assigned based on that) and the eugenics of blood quantum, which inevitably sort of turned this into a deconstruction of a lot of really reductive and harmful slavery au tropes.
