So JIBCon 2019 happened. And it was great. I'll probably make like, 5 posts about that weekend. But first, here's 3 of my all time favorite pictures of them, posted in 3 different moments:

J2 Gold Panel SFCon 2023

If they could take any outfit from any character they've played on any of their shows which would it be?

Jared says he'll answer for Jensen and Jensen will answer for him, and for Jensen he says lederhosen. And for Jared, Jensen answers the white Lucifer suit, and y'all Jared gets so excited that Jensen got it right it's adorable!

Jared also reveals that he actually does have the white Lucifer suit! Because who else is it gonna fit, that was tailor-made for him. So he has a storage unit that's filled with his and Jensen's spn stuff- it's interesting cause when mentioning the storage unit Jared kinda sounds like he starts to say it's one they've shared for many years but instead cuts himself off and asks Jensen if he still has things in there which by the sounds of it he does. I don't know it just stood out to me cause I don't consider 3 years ago to be many years ago.

Anyways, among the spn stuff that they have is things like scripts, s1 and s2 crew gifts, outfits, and the MOL sconces which Jensen also used in The Winchesters.

Jared also has like an ashtray on a pedestal thing that he loves, and he has an outside area where he likes to have the occasional cigar (says he hasn't had one in the past year) but one day they had a big storm in Austin and it had fallen and he was worried about it but it didn't break. x

The next fan doesn't have a question they just would like for them to wish their dad a happy birthday. 🎂

What if they had gotten John back instead of Mary?

Jared jokes that in his opinion the problem is that John spent so much time, so many years facing zombies he might be a little slow 😂. But also Sam would have had to be all angsty a lot.

Jensen says it probably would have been more of a character arc for Sam with dad rather than what Dean went through with mom; it would have been a similar style of art but it would have been more Sam and John.

Jared says that's a good point, and that it might be that for the first 10 seasons, Sam was so angsty the writers decided they need to get Dean angsty.

This next fan makes the mistake of handing Jared her phone so they can see a picture of her boyfriend cause people say that her boyfriend looks like Dean and now that he's growing out his beard he looks like Jensen. At the same time they were looking at the photo a text notification came in from her dad asking about the panel so y'all can guess what happened...Jared replied to it 🤣

Fan should have known better than to give these two little devils access to her phone, they both start messing around on it trying to figure it out so they can take a selfie. The fan shows Jared where to find the camera but he doesn't realize it's on video mode until he tries to take the pic 😂

When did they realize this was gonna be big?

Jared quips this morning; Jensen answers it was definitely a sliding scale because there wasn't an episode or a season. That he was talking about this the previous day at the VIP but he thinks around s6 was when they first realized they might not get canceled, and that was 5 seasons with every season not thinking they were gonna renew the show and after season 5 it was like 'oh I think they like the show, I think they're gonna keep it around.'

Jared agrees, and says that's very true also that was when Kripke left and they wondered if it meant they were done but then in s6 the family came back and kept them going so he has the same answer.

Then they say at the same time they renewed their contract for two years.

Jared also adds that for him when Kripke finished his first 5 seasons as the showrunner he was thinking it meant they were done and on the way out but he doesn't recall the first season or the first time this happened but the first time they did Hall H at comic con and looked out and saw it was a lot of people and their faces were on the backpacks.

Jensen mentions they did a lot of marketing for s1, more than they had ever been a part of, but that doesn't always mean success they can market the hell out of things and it be a total flop so it was hard not to get excited about seeing their faces on the side of WB studios, it was really cool but they kept it in check so there was a lot of those things along the way that was really cool and could be a really big deal but he doesn't think they ever let themselves buy into that until they already had 5 seasons under their belt. x

Another non-question, the fan is wearing a shirt that originally didn't include Jared but they didn't like that so they added him with an iron-on decal and her husband thinks it looks like Leatherface so it's basically her showing Jared her shirt x

If Sam and Dean had wings what would they look like?

Jared thinks his would be colorful, that one thing he loved about the show is that the angel wings were intimidating but he hopes Sammy's angel wings would be more inviting. That's lovely 💛

Jensen says Dean's would look like car doors opening. x

And that was the last question but before they leave the stage Jared announces that Jensen bought him an early birthday present which is the shirt he's wearing and they'll be auctioning it off later for charity. Jensen says he literally went and bought Jared shirts yesterday because he knew he was going to show up to the con and not have any- what a sweet husband 🥰

And for anyone curious the shirt reportedly made over 4k at auction! Also after the auction, Jensen signed the shirt but before doing so he smelled it and said it smelled good because Jared always smells good due to him using a lot of cologne, and he loves it. You know how much you have to love someone and their smell, to sniff their sweaty shirt that they've been running around in all day and think it still smells good ❤️

What’s your take on how PR tries to market Keegan as the new “brother” in Jared’s life? I feel like it’s very pointed and very specific that the way he posts on social media in a way that seems like he’a shouting “hey look at me I’m the new brother!”

Definitely.

Even before Walker premiered they were already pushing the idea that Keegan was Jared’s new brother on and off screen. It was so laughably transparent.

I don’t dislike Keegan but I absolutely feel like he kisses Jared’s ass way too hard. He’s eased up some (ever since a certain director came on set 👀) but he still uses Jared for clout whenever he can. And one way to do that is by calling him his brother and posting selfies/videos of them any chance he gets. I feel like he’s probably encouraged to do so as well.

It’s a little annoying as a tinhat but also just as a J2 fan, because anyone with eyes and a brain can see that Jared and Keegan are nowhere near (and will never be) as close or as comfortable or as special as Jared and Jensen. I’ve seen a few ex-tinhats and Jensen antis try and push the narrative that Jared is happier with Keegan but it’s so pathetic and untrue that I just have to laugh. One panel with J2 has 100 times more chemistry and palpable love between them than any amount of Jared & Keegan content. They know it, too. But they’re so busy hating Jensen that they act like they don’t.

(Sorry for the tangent… I have a lot of thoughts on this, clearly. 😮‍💨)

But yes, there’s definitely a push to frame Keegan and Jared as “the new J2”. Good news is that it’s very obviously not working. 🥱

- Swordmaster plays lethal league to find the one responsible for severing her tail

- Glass is a Cybornetic Enhanced Cat who has her mind connected to the web to specifically study new ways to get better at Lethal League

- Jumbee a work a Holic Zombie like woman who just wants to finish her job before she dies again

- J2-A is a training bot that was supposed to help with the players train but since the safety society shut down the game due to someone dying, she was seen as obsolete. But they still wander around helping anyone who wants to jam

- Todd is just a typical pretty boy who only plays the game so that he can get the attention of girls. Not much to say here the man uses a strong Selfie stick to hit the ball.

REGARDING J2+Baby:

Absolutely mindblowing experience. I don't like being in photos and this is no exception, butttt I will always treasure the moment. My OP partner and I had discussed some complex ideas which in retrospect seem pretty silly since they hurried you through line far too rapidly for any involved posing. My OP partner rushed to embrace Jensen and Jared, being considerate/going with the flow, began pulling me into a similar hold. I informed him I don't like physical contact, and he recOILED like a kicked puppy ; you can see his one arm still drawn back. I told him we cOULD thumb wrestle, tho and suddenly, we were mortal enemies, bwaha. He absolutely let me win, ok. It happened so fast, I hardly had the chance to look at Jensen or Baby ( though I did other times luckily! ) and pHEW, that was it: I really met the three leads of Supernatural, yo.

REGARDING David Haydn-Jones:

So. That is not us posing with David nor Arthur Ketch --this is Randy Ketch! his second cousin who's part of the Canadian Men of Letters. i love when angry j2ers scream denying reality into my inbox. like no guys they were documented living together in van for 3 years, Misha finally let the cat out of the bag so everyone talked about it. Everyone knew. YVR knew. Everybody in fucking Vancouver knew. You're the only motherfuckers that didn't know.

You dumb motherfuckers even stalked Jensen going to see Misha. Goss was abuzz that Jensen had boarded a charter plane that wasn't Jared's, and insisted that J2 knew they knew J2 knew they knew their charter number and Jensen had smuggled Jared on, but Jared's plane left a few days later. Meantime, Jensen and Misha were both spotted same night at the museum a few blocks from their place. pFfFFfFf.

I know observing the real world is hard, but if Misha and Jensen were both at the museum, a few blocks from their place, at the same time, odds are they went together. Jensen's picture with fans was a selfie. Misha's was from about 8 feet distance. Gonna give you five guesses who suggested the picture and caption of Castiel wearing the bedazzled suit and took it for him roflmao

Also, it's genuinely funny these people think that random people in remote towns that don't have SPN on any of their socials report seeing Jensen and Misha together at the place is just fake i guess? next door to one of misha's legal residences I won't disclose so you can't stalk them. Have you been to an spn con? If so how was it

Yes, I have! I went to DC a month ago with @laurasashtray and it was 100% worth it. Not only getting to meet up w my online friend which was so special but the con itself exceeded my expectations. We only went one day (Sunday) and I think that helped, bc the whole weekend is on the pricier side and may have gotten repetitive bc the con is small, but one day wasn’t too too bad, and we fit a lot in that day.

Other than meeting J2M and Ruth, being able to sit in the Impala and handle the props from s12 was the coolest part. There was a little vendors hall, and then just meeting up with a couple of our wincestie mutuals and grabbing drinks w them was a blast!

There’s something really special about being around a bunch of people that are passionate about the same thing, which is what makes single-fandom cons so cool.

Obviously bc the strike is happening the actors couldn’t even say the word “Supernatural” let alone answer questions about the show itself so our panel experiences were unique I guess in that we got to hear more personal stories than show-related ones, but after 18 years of a show it’s cool to hear different stuff. But yeah got lucky that the J2 + Ruth panels were on Sunday bc we mostly just wanted to go to those.

For me at my age it was worth it to meet the actors I wanted to meet and that was special; I’ve never bothered to buy a photo op at a con before ever. I understand it’s pricey though, and I think the con still would’ve been fun without it! But yeah if it’s in your budget, photo ops w J2M very quick but very nice. Jared is an AMAZING hugger. Ruth was a more casual table selfie/auto and she was so sweet and chatted with us for a bit.

Sorry for long-winded answer! TL;DR I had a blast and would go to another one, but only for a day! Don’t need the whole weekend unless you’re interested in other panels and the concert, I guess. I don’t think I’d find Gold or VIP or whatever it’s called lol to be worth the money when it’s all recorded tbh and I didn’t feel I lost anything by having to sit in the back of the panel hall. If I am in a place to afford an M&G bid though I may try that in the future haha
