Honestly nothing much to say except that it was brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a slowburn thriller but in a really good way. Stayed focused on the main plot at all times without any unnecessary annoying deviations. The main character was very likeable, as was Julia despite being a politician with questionable stances. Overall, made for a great weekend show.
One small and funny thing was how they tried being woke with all the casting for higher/leadership positions but (spoiler spoiler spoiler) ended it with the Muslim girl being an engineer j1h@d1 out there for her brothers and sisters trying to get at 'unbelievers'...ok. It is funny to me because the casting was so careful with trying to be woke but that Muslim girl's character was so so... unoriginal. Not criticising it for being un-woke or whatever though. They can write and film whatever stories and characters they want, but sometimes the forced representation in recent shows feels very imbalanced and weird. Again, not complaining, I'm annoyed by forced wokeness anyway but... a 'weak muslim woman' turning out to be an engineer was so random lol.
But that's pointless and just a thought I had at the end of the show when her role was revealed. A
I had forgotten how good British TV was. Somehow, in recent years, whenever I want to watch English stuff I just start looking at American shows which are so difficult to like. Gotta get back into UK shows like I was pre-2014.

***SPOILERS***
For the most part this was great. The early episodes conveyed the horror of AIDS but balanced it with enough wit and energy to keep you from utter despair. I like how Richie's likeable but not altogether sympathic.
The last episode was just weird though. All of a sudden Richie's parents swap personalities and AIDS is entirely Keely Hawes's fault. We found the culprit! If the nicest character in the show says it, it must be true.
Once again systemic problems get blamed on indivuals. Who's to blame? The 'Karen's, for some reason.
How was it?????? (I’ve never seen ashes to ashes, I’m not a huge fan of Keely Hawes, I’m just a mutual who is used to your occasional descent into madness over this woman and I might be confused but I support it)
OH MY GODDD IT WAS SO GOOD BUT SO SAD
Keeley Hawes is an INCREDIBLE actress, but she's especially good at playing tragic and complicated characters who suffer so much all the time. But she suffers so beautifully. She cries and sobs and shouts and screams in ways that you really feel in your soul.
And she's so bloody gorgeous. Like not to be shallow but it needs to be said. Every time I see her my breath is literally taken away. Perfect woman. I would die for her.
speaking of Michael Sheen playing prince andrew did you hear about scoop starring gillian anderson, rufus sewall, billie piper and keely hawes, also about the p andrew scandal
Yes! Literally two flawless casts against each other. I’m very excited
The story of the bombshell BBC interview with Prince Andrew about his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffery Epstein will be dramatized on film.
Deadline first reported the news, sharing that the film will be called Scoop and that Hugh Grant is one of the actors in the running to portray the disgraced Prince Andrew, but soon tweeted, "No, I've not heard of it being announced: Rufus Sewell will star as the prince."
In addition, Gillian Anderson will play interviewer Emily Maitlis; Keely Hawes will play Amanda Thirsk, Andrew’s former private secretary; and Billie Piper will be Sam McAlister, who negotiated the interview film, which will premiere on Netflix and is currently in production; no premiere date has been set yet.
Peter Moffat is writing the screenplay for the Lighthouse Film & TV production company, and they hope to begin explaining that Scoop is "about how the BBC’s Newsnight team got the scoop, then the actual filming of it," adding: "The other thing is, why did he agree to do it that he decided it was a good idea to do a great big long interview with Emily Maitlis on the BBC?"
During the nearly 50-minute interview filmed at Buckingham Palace, Prince Andrew spoke about his association with Epstein, shared how he first met Epstein through Ghislaine Maxwell, and denied allegations that he had sex with one of Epstein's alleged victims, Virginia Giuffre.
"I have asked Her Majesty for permission to step back from public duties for the foreseeable future," Prince Andrew said in a statement, adding that military affiliations and royal patronages had been returned to the Queen.
Though he was part of the mourning events surrounding the death of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Andrew has not appeared with the royal family since.
