In high school in 2001, I drew a dragon.
He was an ocean-faring dragon named Prismata, the father of one of the main characters in a story I wanted to write called “Adrift.” The story centered around a small pond dragon named Koi that gets swept out to sea and meets a young sea dragon named Prism- Prismata’s son. Prismata has gone missing (”missing,” I know where he went, he ran off with Amethyst), leaving an imbalance in the local ecosystem’s hierarchy, as Prismata previously protected a huge swath of the ocean in the area. Prism has been struggling to hold onto the same territory against a young mongrel dragon named Rife that is determined to prove his worth. Koi arrives in the middle of this, and helps them to come to peaceful terms so they will take him home.
My mom, @mamaspark, adored the original drawing of Prismata, enough that she wanted to make a quilt of the drawing. In 2006, I redrew the drawing with a little simpler design, and she made the lineart into a pattern (pictured above, slightly chewed up by her cat, Finny, who was Helping as cats are wont to do). SIxteen years later, today, she presented it to me for my birthday!
The piecing on it is absolutely amazing, down to the little black claws that are actually individual pieces of fabric she stitched on with hair-thin thread. She sent it out for quilting to someone that quilted in the bubbles and the swirling water. The rainbow fabric on the edges came from a friend of hers. A lot of work and a lot of anxiety went into this, but it turned out perfectly imo!!
She made the grave mistake of telling me she almost put sparkly gems in the bubbles and colored the rainbow trail he makes in the water, but she chickened out because she was afraid to ruin it. I told her no amount of added rainbow would ruin this boy. So she still has it in her possession, hopefully to add rainbow to the bubbles, and I cannot wait to see it bedazzled!

asra is planning to propose ; second part [ last part ]
word count : 1.8k
part one can be found here!
Your perturbation was compounded by the fact that you discovered the space next to you empty when you awoke in the morning. Rather than feeling the warmth of the body of your lover, the bed was abundantly strewn with quilts and soft throws. In contrast to the careless jumble of blankets that you were used to from tossing and turning in your sleep, a bright colored quilt was considerately laid over your body. You figured Asra had taken the time to cover you while you slept, making you smile at the thought that he had done so.
As you were preparing to leave your bed, you heard a soft rustling sound of a piece of paper scrunching. You found a note beside you, one which reads the following:
Tumblr media
In spite of the fact that you weren’t sure how he intended to keep you busy while he was away, you were fascinated by the idea nonetheless. Your morning whizzed by fast. You were happy to learn that Asra left a cup of tea on top of a small metal rack above a tea light candle. Next to it was another note, this one much smaller in comparison.
Throughout the day, Faust slithered her way into the shop. You assumed Asra was sending the serpent back and forth to check in on you. She never stayed for more than a minute or two. Each time she returned, another note was attached to her body along with ribbon to hold it in place.
‘Meet me in the garden behind the palace. And bring Faust’s bow please. I forgot to grab it before leaving. XO Asra’
Before leaving, you closed down the shop. When sure you secured the bow in your satchel, you set out to the palace.
If you didn’t know any better, you would have assumed the guards protecting the palace were waiting for you. Your face was easy to recognize among the guards, you guessed that was the reason why getting inside was no issue. You effortlessly slipped around to the back where you meeting Asra.
A gentle smile spread across his face when he saw you. “How do you do that?” He inquired warmly, standing in front of the fountain with his hands clasped behind his back.
Thrown off by his question, “Do what?” You curiously asked.
“Always look more beautiful than before. Each time I think it can’t possibly get any better than this, you show me just how wrong I am.” His genuine words suddenly left you feeling self-conscious.
Flustered, you felt a rush of warmth spread across your face. “Flattery gets you everywhere?” Your indistinct ruse was only a sly attempt to divert his compliments away from you.
"What are we doing here?"
A mischievous glint sparkled in his wide amethyst eyes when he offers you his hand. It’s a gracious gesture on your part to accept it. “I was hoping you’d ask.” You watch Asra step into the water. With your hand in his, he guides you to the edge where he carefully pulls you in with him.
You instantly feel the cool water lapping at your calves. You barely have a second to protest before he’s speaking again. “There’s something I want to show you, but you have to close your eyes first.”
After shooting him a quizzical look, you eventually succumb to his request. Your world darkens, but you’re fully aware of his presence in front of you. His hands caress your cheek as he gives you a fiery gaze, burning you to the core with its depths and passion.
His forehead came to rest on yours seconds later. Your senses aid you in the realization that you’re no longer in the same place. The air is quiet around you, safe for luminescent insects carelessly flying past your ears. The water you once felt on your legs was replaced by an almost humid warmth. Bright colors that resemble Asra’s energy paint the atmosphere
Indigo, orange, and violet paint a beautiful backdrop for the abundance of green trachycarpus sprouting from the ground. The pond before you reflects the glow of the sky, and colorful butterfly koi swim and jump eagerly through the water.
The world you find yourself in is Asra’s gateway, a place you never tire of. But even still, you’re a little confused as to why Asra has brought you here. “What is it you could possibly show me in here that I haven’t yet seen?” You ask the question with a sense of curiosity in your heart as you think about the possibility.
Asra wasted no time responding, his soft gaze searching the endless paths of mystery around you. “So much.” He confidently stated. “Though, we’ll have to explore another day. I’m not sure whether or not there will be enough time for it.”
“We’re not staying long?”
“I can’t say. That all depends on you.”
Your head falls to the side as you stare at him. “So if I choose to stay and explore, we’ll stay?”
“No, not exactly. Unless you’re prepared to sleep here.”
“If you’re my pillow throughout the night, I’ll stay here forever.”
Clearly amused, a faint laugh falls from his lips and he shakes his head. “Maybe not forever, but I think that can be arranged. Come on, we should get moving.”
With your hand in his, he leads you through the thick trees. “Can you at least tell me what it is you’re showing me?” You imploringly inquired, when silence began to settle between you.
“I can.” You waited for him to continue, but as one second turned into fifteen, you realized nothing else would come from him.
“Well are you intending to?”
Asra came to a stop, turning to steal a playful glance at you. “No,” he started, as he took a step backwards. “see for yourself.” Thick vines from trees hung low in front of you to create a wall, and for a second you weren’t sure what you were meant to see until he pulled you through to the other side with him.
The scene before you appeared to be an entirely different world. Fluorescent orbs floated languidly through the calm atmosphere. Different from the colors behind you, aqua green and blue painted this sky. Where trees were supposed to be, giant mushrooms like plants glowed magenta and purple, safe for the green stems. Wild flowers decorate the ground entirely.
“This is amazing!” You couldn’t describe the feelings bubbling within you. Every worry in the world you had before vanished. You felt carefree and hopeful, as if all your dreams could become a reality at any second.
You felt his gaze buring through you for a long time, studying you as you studied your enviroment.
“I don’t remember it very well, though I believe my child brain constructed this place. I stumbled across it awhile ago. I’ve been altering it to make it less puerile.. I should say.”
You take in the environment, your eyes never staying on anything particular for too long. “It’s a beautiful sight Asra, but why here?”
He hesitated before responding. “It think it sounded better in my head. Saying it aloud might sound rash.”
“I promise it won’t, and if it does I won’t tell you.” Your joke causes him to crack a small smile. You hold out your pinkie as an oath to your promise, but instead of twining his finger with yours, he encases your hand in both of his.
“I should hope so.” His warm lips meet your fingertips, lingering for many seconds before they’re gone. ”Your childhood– I know you don’t remember anything from it, and this doesn’t make up for what you lost. I thought maybe sharing a part of my childhood would let you rekindle your inner child.”
He was always so thoughtful. The tenderness in his voice matched his level of vulnerability. “I can’t believe you’d want to share this with me.”
“I want to share everything with you.”
Your brain didn’t process the meaning of him getting down on one knee until Faust appeared around his shoulders with another ribbon tied to a small crystal-encased box. It hung loosely around her neck. In front of you, Asra looked more confident now. His gentle eyes complimented the benevolent smile that adorned his lips, his gaze never diverting from yours.
“Not just the past, but the future, too, because quite frankly, there is no future without you.” The words that came out of his mouth were sweeter than honey.
You didn’t know how to feel. Shocked? Maybe even the tiniest bit of terrified. But nothing could conceal the familiarity of the joyous warmth you felt spreading through your body.
“Every smile and kiss and tear— my life— I wish to share it all with you.” Asra carefully freed the box from Faust’s possession, placing it in his right hand and opening it with his left. “No amount of time will be enough for me to tell you how much I love you, but it won’t stop me from trying anyway. I want nothing more than to be with you forever; so will you give me the honor of marrying me?”
He opened the box to reveal a beautifully crafted ring with a striking gemstone in the middle. His expression was careful, as he analyzed your reaction.
Your heart swelled with love for the person on his knee proposing to you. Proposing to you. You were speechless, but you had to give an answer. You already knew what it was.
Your gaze flickered from the piece of jewelry to his face. You always thought he was beautiful, but the dim light from the sky illuminating his features made him almost irresistible. For a second, you easily imagined your future together— filled with bliss.
“Yes.” You whispered, until you found yourself repeating it over and over again, your voice gradually growing louder. “Yes, of course!”
Emotions flashed across his face. His eyebrows shot up as his eyes slightly widened. “Really?”
The enthusiastic nodding of your head couldn’t be stopped. “I’ve never been more sure.” You decide against throwing yourself at him for a bear hug knowing the momentum would bring both of you to the ground.
A compassionate smile reached his lips. “You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear that from you. I’m the luckiest person alive.” You failed to tear your eyes away from the ring Asra slipped on your finger.
But the more you stare at it, the quicker you come to a realization. “Oh my Gods, they knew!”
Completely confused, Asra muttered, “Hm?”
“That old couple from yesterday, Asra— what part did you play in that?!” The pieces were falling into place with ease.
The look on his face says it all. Standing up from his position on the round, a sly grin tugged at the corners of his mouth. “Me? What could I possibly have done?”
Your mouth drops at him openly denying his role in yesterday’s events. You give him a playful shove, one that causes him to let out a contagious laugh that echoes all around. “I’ll tell you later. Right now I only think of what to do with my soon to be spouse.”
Your mind drifts to the noticeable weight on your finger. You didn’t need anyone to tell you what the future held. With Asra, you knew everything would be a life to live for.

Eclipse rippled the slack of neatly folded fabric like a deck of cards. He'd allowed Sun and the clerk to convince him to add two more colors, orange and black. But there was still no real harmony to the subject matter. Slices of oranges in a graphic style, swirly koi fish with ribbons of shiny gold, Halloween fabrics with pumpkins, skulls and crows. He had floral prints and abstract blenders and even one with tiny stars on a charcoal sky. His fingers curled into the folds of the fabric like a cat protecting a favorite toy. Sun was cheerfully discussing his own cats with the clerk. Who by the tiny white hairs on her shirt; clearly had at least one of her own. She folded up Sun's last choice; a repeating pattern of bookshelves with fairy-tale names on the spines. The two stacks were equal in number and volume and tidy next to one another, the edges crisply folded. Sun's stack was mostly yellow and blue. Tropical fish and sunny skies, flowers, geometric shapes and smears. He had three different prints with cartoon cats and a single one with woodgrain to match the bookshelves. Eclipse noticed a scrap peeking out from under the stack of fat quarters the clerk had been cutting. He pulled it out delicately and held it up. A creme colored fabric with a pattern of round black berries on leafy branches with delicate plum colored flowers like tiny trumpets. The clerk looked up, "we had several bolts of botanical illustration fabric. That's the very last piece. Not the nicest plant but it looks pretty. Deadly nightshade." Eclipse held the small piece and stared at it, lost in thought. Sun smiled at him. "I think we'll take it off your hands. Now I just need two spools of black and white thread for the machine and we can go." The lady put her cutter in the pocket of her apron. "I'll get it for you." She could see that the two anamatronics needed a moment alone. The dark sun considered the tiny square of fabric on top of the larger pieces. In that moment he almost pitied it and the burst of empathy for the rumpled scrap left him reeling with the strangely intense emotion. He felt Sun's fingers nestle in between his own. "It can kill people yeah. But it's also used to make heart medication for humans and it's related to potatoes. Which are wonderful." He gave his shadow a soft look. "Are you feeling any better?" "I guess… it's calm here." Sun squeezed his hand. "We need to find you a hobby of your own." He picked up the two piles of cloth and followed the clerk to the counter. "You should be here when they're doing classes in the back." She said softly. "I've always enjoyed the ambience of everyone's different machines all clacking and humming along. People bring their own and there's always a big range from fresh-faced kids with brand new plastic things to grandmas with old metal heirlooms lovingly maintained and oiled. "I see you thinking Sun." Eclipse ventured. "I'm not taking a quilting class. Even if you wanted to lend me your machine; I don't think yours is something that should be drug around. If I wanted to do anything it, would be to make some more clothes." Sun and the clerk exchanged a knowing look. "Okay Eclipse. As you wish."

11, 24, 31 for lucille & juniper
11. what do they have in common with you? how are they different? would you get along with them?
For Lucille, I think we share a few things in common but I think a big part of my life that I share her is never really knowing where I belong. Another thing is having a complicated relationship or attachment to people or events that may have caused me harm. She’s also sort of my desire to not grow up, since she grew up too fast and is finally now able to experience. just being a kid. and something about that is beautiful and makes me want to cry. I would absolutely have a tea party with her even if it ended with me getting skinned lol
For Juniper, she’s sort of always been a reflection of my struggles with self-worth and placing like a solid 90% of that on grades. She was also made during a time where I wasn’t as close with my parents and had a more strained relationship because I thought they viewed my importance based on how well I did in school as well (they don’t, i’ve had the opportunity to talk it over with them, but damage lingers). She’s also sort of my inability to really express my needs or speak up sometimes. I’ve improved in these aspects and she’s grown with me, but yeah. I think I’d get along with her, she’d be cool.
24. do they have any creative hobbies? (art, writing, music, etc)
Lucille draws really often! She doodles little things onto fabrics and Mother makes them into quilts or stitches them onto her dress. It’s semi-visible in the one reference I have for her but yeah you can see lucille’s little patches she’s made for her mom 💖. it’s one of my favorite little details actually.
Juniper is very musically talented, but she never wanted to pursue it beyond a casual hobby. She has a very mellow and pleasant singing voice. Koi tried to start a band with her once but she got really overwhelmed so he shut the idea down quickly lol. I think she’d also be able to do embroidery or crochet or something. she seems like a crochet gal.
31. do they like receiving gifts? giving gifts? what is their ideal gift?
Lucille loves receiving gifts!!! and giving gifts!!! but mostly receiving them. She loves stuffed animals, cards, and flowers. I think she’d also love to receive a drawing from somebody because she thinks it’s very special.
Juniper struggles a bit with it unless it’s for an event like her birthday or something like that, because she’d feel inclined to give them something in return and would feel bad if she didn’t. She does like giving gifts though, she thinks figuring out what someone would like is a really good way to see how well you know someone. She’d probably like anything homemade, including like pastries or any sort of art. She also likes collecting pins!

Do you have any niche interests that you haven’t really talked about online?
Oh this is a great question, I have to think about what counts as niche LOL, most of these probably aren't that niche but I'm not sure what else to call them
I definitely have a LOT of interests I don't post too much about, and some of which I haven't fulfilled IRL yet (like I don't have the means to pursue it as a hobby)
Not really "niche" I don't think and I do post about them (not super in depth though) in the sciences include but are not limited to:
Zoology (this is what I'm going to go to college for once I legally change my name)
Entomology
Linguistics
Archaeology
Paleontology
Biology in general
General environmental sciences
Geology
Astronomy
Anthropology
And probably others I am forgetting
Some hobby based interests of mine include the following (I'll put a note next to the ones I can't actually fulfill as of rn):
Tea drinking/brewing/etc. (probably the biggest one I have) (I fulfill this)
Bookbinding (I can't fulfill this yet)
Painting (not very niche) (I fulfill this but I do not feel comfortable sharing any paintings at the moment lol)
Puzzle-solving
Calligraphy/penmanship (not currently fulfilling this)
Reading (not niche at all but generally I don't post about any of the books I read)
Movies? Not inherently niche but I don't post about this and I'm into watching movies like old films, indie films, and cult classics
Macrophotography (not fulfilling this because I don't have the equipment but I do take pictures of bugs with the macrophotography feature on our old family video camera even if they're not great)
Writing and poetry (not niche but I don't post about this at all, I really want to write starting books and currently write poetry)
Theater/acting (not niche but I don't post about this) (also can't fulfill it)
Tarot/divination (I don't truly believe in it but it's just fun)
Okay I don't feel like reorganizing my list above but going from above here are more things I'm into that can't currently fulfill or just haven't fulfilled yet:
Ceramics
Crochet
Fishing (I've done this like three times)
Things like chess, mahjong, go, shogi, koi-koi and other hanafuda games (I don't know how to play chess which embarrasses me greatly)
Sewing in general
Quilting (I've made one quilt!)
Woodworking
Bug keeping (I want roly polies and snails and some others)
Vulture culture (not very legal...)
Foraging (I have an uncle very into this that I need to help me get into this)
Geocaching
Hiking
Biking (been getting into this a bit recently)
Some miscellaneous interests of mine that I'm not sure how to categorize include the following (some of these might be sciences but I feel like they're not as science-y as the ones I listed before)"
Mythology (this...counts as antropology but shh)
Conlangs (counts as linguistics? sort of?)
Vexillology
Language learning (semi-fluent in Spanish, currently learning: Irish, Welsh, (Scottish Gaelic), Scots, Lushootseed, Japanese, Chinese, I want to learn some other languages as well though)
Sunscreen/sunblock/UV protection (I have no idea what to call this but it's a big interest of mine)
Hedgehogs (big special interest of mine throughout my life)
I collect old books (none of them are all that old and I don't seek out any old titles, but if I see an old book I'll usually buy it, although I've had to put a hold on this because I don't have space) (oldest book I have is very late 1800s)
I have no idea how to phrase this but I love learning about the cultures of different countries as well as the differences in variations of English, I guess this is anthropology and linguistics
Lost media
History in general (this falls into archaeology and anthropology)
Dogs? I'm very into stuff about dogs, not like breeding or dog shows but just different stuff about the breeds or stuff about dogs
Animation (I'm into its history and animated features)
Dragons. As a child I was so autistic about them that I refused to read any book without dragons AND they had to be neutral to good dragons (ties into mythology)
Fairies/fae (ties into mythology)
Plushie collecting (I don't seek out specific plushes or try to fill certain spots in a collection, I just like collecting whatever I like)
There's probably more I'm forgetting

I haven't had time and mind space to do my patchwork and quilting. But I bought a new, amazing pair of scissors and had to make a fancy pouch for them. So I got that beautiful koi fabric.
And as a tester, I made a pouch for my old fabric scissors as well. And I got the tools to attach snaps, too.

Tag nine people you want to know better!
Thanks @angryteapott and @cere-mon-ials for tagging me and sorry for the delay~
Favorite color: Blue or Teal (but will betray my fav all the time)
Currently “reading“ (lol): “Dear and Glorious Physician” by Taylor Caldwell
Last song: Scars Leave Beautiful Trace (OST 1 of Alchemy of Souls)
Last series: oh boy...just finished Alchemy of Souls. As for currently watching:
If You Wish Upon Me - Sentimental fluff with high production values and the soul of daytime TV. Waiting for the dog to die (and Ji Chang Wook to cry).
A Dream of Splendor (Cdrama) - pleasantly intelligent and women-friendly; daily lives of close female friends and their struggles/romances. For once, the main lead couple is my favorite.
The Good Detective S2 - just started, seems to focus heavily on the case right now, hope they delve into the interior lives of the characters too.
Koi Desu: Yankee-kun to Hakujou Garu (jdrama) - The Japanese have the market cornered on innocent, pure, wildly wholesome romance. Every ep has me squeeing!
Eventually I’ll get back to Extraordinary Attorney Woo, The Untamed, a bunch of others...currently my physical location is affecting things.
Last movie: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker =(
Sweet/spicy/savory: Savory
Currently working on: Transferring to a new job soon, quite nervous about it and I don’t know how the work levels will affect me. Actively working on a sashiko table runner, and when I get home, I’ll start sewing custom hapi coats, try to sew a Chinese jacket, and finish a sashiko quilt. Not actively working on a Shinjae cult fic.

This weekend I'll take this back down to get better photos, especially of the quilting (which is what I've been dragging ass on, and which is nearly invisible while it's hung up), but for now It! Is! Done! And I only started in 2013. 😂

Meet & Greet Meme!
Prosecutor!Verse:
In the prosecutor!verse, Maria lives in a multi-level beach home. The front door leads to the street, but the back door leads to the ocean. The house is quite tidy inside and out. Her décor is luxurious and largely sea-themed, since she loves the sea and mermaid/Venus imagery (a replication of The Birth of Venus is in her bedroom). Her goal when designing it was "Brittany in Summer". Naturally, her bedroom and entertaining spaces are the largest.
FE!Verse:
In the FE!Verse, Maria and Clara live in Castle Krakenberg. For those unfamiliar, it is a subterranean, Gothy, moodily-lit castle. The family has their own wing in the castle with their own suites. Maria shares hers with Leo, but it's clear that she took control of most of the decorating; it is elegant and romantic inside, with many flowers. Their bathroom is spacious, with a huge tub.
Clara's is built more for comfort than anything. The carpets and bedding are plush, with heavy quilts. There are many natural elements, like twigs or flowers that she brought in from outdoors, as well as scientific ones, like bug displays. A well-stocked bookshelf and writing desk are inside. She also has an area in which to practice her magic. That room is the messiest.
KNY!Verse:
Like many of the houses in the Foreigners' District, the house is Western-styled. It's spacious and tastefully decorated, with Nohr Corp products strategically placed in each guests' line of sight. In terms of bedrooms, they look similar to the FE!Verse versions, but in a different time period. There's a backyard, expertly groomed, with a pool and a koi pond and a garage housing Leo and Maria's vehicles.

Sneak Peek, Maria's Studio: New, A Koi Pond Quilt, And Inner Wolf Potholders
Sneak Peek, Maria’s Studio: New, A Koi Pond Quilt, And Inner Wolf Potholders
My weekly visit to Maria’s Full Moon Fiber Art studio was delayed until this afternoon, and I got to see the new quilt she has begun working on, a Koi Pond quilt to celebrate the idea of swimming upstream, as we all in our lives. The quilt is not yet finished but close. If there are any questions about it, you can reach Maria via e-mail at [email protected]. I don’t think it’s been sold…
