University needed one more episode. So, so badly. Because it feels like they were forced to shove everything into as rushed three episodes. And it’s so sad. Because they could have done so much more with the conflicts they set up as well as by using so more of the scenes from the novel wisely.
I did enjoy the last episode. But I feel let down. Everything just... solved itself so they can introduce new problems for the last episode. Itt and Pai know they love each other and agree to go out instantly. Pai isn’t upset about anything. Waan got his girlfriend. Folk agreed to try with Pure and Pure didn’t freak out at all. I mean, everything just wrapped itself up with a bow in no time at all.
I wanted more than that. I wanted Pai to be more worried about trusting Itt. I wanted Itt to have to work for this, to prove himself. I wanted to see Pure worried about loving someone, worried about that love betraying him. I wanted to see Folk distrusting him for more than 30 seconds. I wanted to see Pai learning to trust again. I wanted to see them all learning to love again, together.

I cant believe it’s the end for some of these shows, but let’s get it
Oxygen the Series: okay so jay and solo’s dad are n’moon’s parents until solo and gui become old enough to be n’moon’s parents. aight. but what did i say about gui and solo being n’moon’s parents? hmmm? HMMM? sologui having a soft moment and kao dramatically jumping into water sums up the entire series. side note they obviously had to kiss underwater or it wasnt gonna be a bl. good ending tho. very satisfying
My Gear and Your Gown: pai’s parents are nice and thats nice. they let their son have his own opinions and i love that. honestly its the end i dont really have anything to say. neen’s character is just there at the end in a group of  gays and wow do i feel sorry for her. she’s the only girl there. you know what she needs. a girlfriend. and that’s that
TharnType 2: the neighbor couple is there to provide free therapy and i respect that. like the kid listens to type and talks to tharn politely and is just generally a nice person and thats nice. also techno apparently just knows like everything that’s going on and im like spill the tea dude. i dont get the boss at all. like nothing about him makes sense. he’s the doc’s uncle and hates type for some reason???? i just dont know
Tonhon Chonlatee: chon is babie. he is so babie it hurts. he just wants good vibes and keeps getting stuck with shit. also like i dont hate na, like at all. i actually think he’s pretty decent. i think that chon’s mom is literally the greatest character to cross my screen. she is so amazing and funny and talented and supportive. on the opposite end of the spectrum you have ton’s dad who is a fucking nightmare. when ai said he was bad i tried to prepare for the worst but i was not ready for how much i despise him already. on a more positive note, when ai, ni, miriam, and peng were sitting at the edge of the table talking, it was mlm wlw solidarity. im just sayin
Manner of Death is separate because im very excited for that one. my thoughts on episode 1 and episode 2

I’ve been thinking about MGYG since this morning’s episode and I have Thoughts™ that I feel the need to share. Putting under a cut in case but it’s more comparing the series to the novel without any spoilers not revealed in the teaser.
OK SO last week I read the entire MGYG novel which look less than two hours because wow, it’s short. It’s also SO different from the series. The high school flashback is thrown in at the end as special chapters and is not nearly so fleshed out so I have some thoughts and concerns:
The vast majority of the plot takes place during university and we’re five episodes in and they’re still in high school. are they going to have time to finish the uni plot? like I said, it’s super short compared to other series, but still. if they spend more than six episodes in high school I’m not sure what’s going to get cut later.
Then again, the novel was super short. So. Maybe it’ll be enough time?
I think in general the series is doing an excellent job of developing the characters. In the novel Pai, Itt and Folk are in my opinion the best developed, and I think that this is why there’s so much Waan and Pure together. You can’t give them more story involving the others without interfering with the original plot, so they’re being developed as a pair.
Pure in the novel is kind of the worst so I’m loving this version of him we’re seeing. He literally just flirts with people, fights a guy in the street, sleeps with Folk and then disappears again. The series at least gives him some reasons for being the way he is and it seems like he’s going to learn from it? I adore him.
Waan is also pretty terrible in the novel. All he does is talk about girls and sex and how to combine the two. Nerdy, awkward high school Waan is a serious improvement. I also like that he’s being set up to be Pure’s confidant and inspiration for Pure improving himself.
I MISS FOLK. I swear he better get serious screen time whenever they get to university because he is in the novel a LOT. The teaser showed him appearing sometime when they’re in high school though so I’m hopeful we at least get to see his face.
All of these changes make me very hopeful that PureFolk get... more in the series. Won’t go into detail but it’s probably clear by now the novel is very Itt and Pai heavy and everyone else just kind of exists around them.
PLEASE LET’S JUST GO TO UNI NOW.
Sorry I have no Pai/Itt feelings. Their story is cute and it’s being done well, what’s left to say?
That’s it I’m done. Please engage with me if you want to because I want to discuss so bad!!

If this had been the real message and focus of the show, I would be SO much happier right now.
... If they had made this the message without adding in Pai’s parents homophobia-that-solved-itself-instantly the show would have been better.
Imagine Itt giving this speech because he had to work to win Pai over and Pai finally accepts him because Itt has learned that he loves Pai for Pai and not for who he wants him to be.
Imagine Pai slowly accepting that love back into his life and they come to the noodle shop and he finally hears the person he loves, his faen, accept him as he is.
Imagine this being the moment Itt and Pai truly accept their relationship.
Imagine what we could have had.

Lakorn watchlist: welcome, Tonhon Chonlatee, you’ll hate it here
Oxygen the Series: boy is there a lot to unpack. first simple things:
p’phu and kao: exist
me: SCREEEEEEECH
that doctor be having silk pajamas in the middle of the woods and i dont even have any in the middle of the city
solo is still the cutest babie and anyone who disagrees can come and fight me. also gui and solo are married. linda?! the fiancée?! my ass. also her name is literally linda so i’m gonna need a minute. episode 11 am i right or am i right ya’ll?
My Gear and Your Gown: i dont remember who made this post but it basically said that pure was going in between pai and folk because itt asked him and then he became a whipped boy and wow i cant agree more. it just makes sense. also itt is a dumbass. pai is also a dumbass. waan is a sweetheart who deserves everything.
TharnType 2: oh my gosh did they just try to have a conversation? i cant believe it. too unrealistic. im honestly happy with the amount of techno content there was this episode. i love love love love him. he’s just so funny and cute and the hair is such a glow-up and he always tries to help tharn and type and he wants the best for his friends and and and a bunch of other things that show how amazing he is.
p’jeed and no: try to find a boyfriend for champ
champ: immediately finds one on his own
if that isnt the most in character thing ever, i will do nothing because i cant think of anything. honestly champ is the only one with braincells here. also p’khlui being back is like a slap in the face
Tonhon Chonlatee: the second hand embarrassment in this one is strong. i have never felt more awkward. also chon is now my cutie patootie child. he is just so freaking adorable that anytime he smiles my heart warms and my day gets brighter. also due to promos we already know that mike and toptap’s characters are together so when p’ton says that all three of them are manly and tough, i just said “and then you find out they fuck?” also the amount of crackhead going on is absolute gold. that opening sceneeee. absolute hilarity. ive seen it compared to the untamed and i can’t help but agree.
P.S. a chance to love episode 11 here

Why I like the show more (spoilers for the book, not the show)
1. In the book, Itt’s mom has been dead for two years before he ever meets Pai. There’s no hospital bonding, there’s no supporting each other, there’s none of that deep friendship that comes from the loss.
2. In the book, their friendship is completely secret and no one else knows about it at all. And it really does only occur in the club room when studying.
3. Pai already owned the earrings before he met Itt and they didn’t mean anything besides the fact that the store was out of white.
4. The promise with the earring? Was made over letting the Bishops keep sharing the room Knights, who actually won the contest by winning more medals. No rooftop fight, nothing.
5. They just... stop being friends once they don’t need to study more!
Basically, the show added a lot more drama to their past. And I’m very excited to see how this will change the future I read in the book... Because this time, their relationship is much deeper than it was.

Pai making a group of children cry because of how awkward and tense he is might actually be the funniest thing in the goddamn universe. Poor Pai. What an icon.

If My Gear and Your Gown just broke my heart this badly in episode 10, I am terrified of what episode 11 will bring.
On the other hand, all my boys have such good friends in their lives and thank fuck for that. Pure and Itt are seriously a great example of friendship and caring for each other.
But, seriously, Itt. I get it, you were doing it all for his benefit but maybe you could try combining that with COMMUNICATING with him about how you want to help him and don’t hate him? That might have helped!
I am so, so happy that these university episodes are actually turning out to be good. I had high hopes and, so far, they’re definitely being met! I do really like these characters and their stories are enjoyable.
I also really like that all of the characters are well-rounded. You can understand why all of them are doing what they’re doing and it makes sense and even if you know what they could do better/differently you know why they aren’t doing it that way. Because they’re all full characters with internal and external influences and issues that we know about and that makes sense.
So, yes, My Gear and Your Gown is definitely one of my favorite shows currently and I look forward to next week!
