#Mattel Frozen Family set

Looks like Mattel is doing their own version of the (Target exclusive) Frozen Royal Family set Hasbro did a few years ago. I think the faces for Iduna and Young Anna and Elsa looked better on the hasbro versions. Agnarr looks about the same but I can't tell if he has molded on pants again or they gave him real pans this time

Now that I've seen Barbie (2023), I can say with absolute certainty, it is a Christmas movie.
You may be thinking that my claim has no evidence, but there are many other movies that are only tangentially related to the Christmas that are now tied to the holiday. One example is Frozen because it has a lot of snow and ice, but the movie actually takes place in the late summer/autumn season.
Because the setting is in California for Barbie, or a fictional world where is it always the same kind of climate as Southern California, the time of year is not specified. The winters in California look the same as Summer, so it cannot be argued the weather indicates it is summer.
Another aspect that leads to it being a Christmas movie is that it still found a way to incorporate the obligatory snow shot that many holiday films have. Barbie has to travel though the snowy arctic to get between lands. However, because the arctic is snowing heavily, I am led to believe the movie takes place in the winter because it is too warm in a Alaska for snow in the summer.
When the film shows the consequences of Barbie and Reality colliding while Ken is in charge, they explicitly state that his toys are selling really well. This conversations makes more sense by looking at the commercial impact of Christmas. A normal toy has to have a lot of marketing to do well for most of the year, but christmas time is one of the major selling times for toys no matter the brand. These toys had little marketing because of the suddenness of the change in Barbieland, but they still sold well because it was Mattel and parents needed toys for their children.
Additionally, gift giving is a major aspect of the holiday, and characters regularly give each other gifts throughout the film. Barbie gifts her clothes, Ken gifts his mink faux fur jacket, and America Ferrera gives the gift of knowledge to the Barbies.
Lastly, coming together as family is a huge aspect of Christmas, which this film also incorporated through the mother daughter relationship of America and Sasha. They were able to regain their relationship as the film progressed, and they even included Barbie into their family by the end. The film even ends with a scene of the three of them plus the step-dad in the car being a happy family.
So in conclusion, Barbie (2023) is a Christmas movie!

#RedeemHans Part 2: Rotten to the Core?
I'm going to start this part to respond to someone who thought I was trying to dig into Jen Lee's personal life by wondering if she had a massive heartbreak in the past. I wasn't attacking anyone, I'm pointing out that sometimes writers base characters and situations on people they know and things they have gone through. We've all done it at some point.
But getting to my next point, I'm going to talk about "Descendants", something I feel might have killed the chances of live action "Monster High" and "Ever After High" movies. They're all about legacy children in fantasy genres, but Disney differs from both of Mattel's creations as it starts out the good guys live in Auradon where they live in sunshine and splendor, while the villains are confined to the Isle of the Lost, which is a wasteland in which they're given everyone's hand-me-downs, table scraps and in some extreme cases, the dead are resurrected to live in this pit. (It only goes up to "The Princess and the Frog", I noticed...)
Tumblr media
Anyway, this is all set in motion when Belle and Adam's son Ben, doing the duties he is expected of as a future ruler, decrees that he wants to extend a hand of peace by selecting a group of villain kids to attend Auradon Academy. After all, no one thought his father could be redeemed. What ensues are the four (Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay) being exposed to a world which makes them question things their parents taught them. And as the movies go on, we see others who don't act like their family members...for better or worse. Especially Audrey, Aurora's daughter, who snaps after Ben has proposed to Mal instead of her. She turns unpleasant and abusive and then is in a situation where she nearly dies and Hades is brought in to revive her.
And then he tells Adam something very telling about Disney and their concept of redemption, especially as I feel it with Hans in this case:
Tumblr media
"Since when do heroes care about villains?"
BOOM.
Although redemption has always been a current theme with quite a few Disney projects, why are they NOT doing it for the one that needs it?
Along with admitting people make bad decisions out of emotion (although how much did they do with it in "Frozen"?), recognizing some people are in dreadful situations (Jay realizing he's become lucky while observing Gil* in Auradon), and admitting we all have bad and good in ourselves, I think the writers of "Frozen" should at least look at what the writers of this film have done with how people are complex beings with a present grey area.
Something tells me with how the main males are treated by Jen Lee, they should really just have the "Descendants" writers work on this series from now on. THEY understand human complexity better than she does...
*Gil reminds me of Carl Lortner from "Parks and Recreation". Don't "at" me.

Well it looks like it’s Gonna rain for most of today, so I guess that makes today the perfect day to browse the interwebs for Hot, New Toy Fair 2020 News and Reveals.  In terms of doll stuff So far all that’s been shown off are more of those fancy disney princess dolls (I forget the name ATM) from hasbro, which look good but i’m more of a Frozen guy. Speaking of, Hasbro also showed off some upcoming Frozen 2 Dolls, including the new Epilogue Dolls, which Look Good, as well as a version of the Target Exclusive Royal Family set that lacks King Agnarr, so it’s just Queen Iduna and young Anna and Elsa. All the F2 Stuff looks pretty good even if I was a little disappointed with some of the Hasbro F2 dolls when they came out. Sure their outfits are a little cheap but at least they Don’t have the stupid side glance like the disney store Dolls STILL do. Oh and there was that Cavegirls line or whaever from mattel that looks bad. Still waiting to see what barbie stuff they show but I expect to be just as disapointed
Outside of dolls McFarlane Toys showed off some new DC Multiverse Figures Based off Batman Arkham Asylum (the game) and Batman White Knight/Curse of the White Knight, and they look awesome! Storm Collectibles also Showed off Some New Figures From Mortal Kombat, Injustice (1), and announced they’re doing figures for streets of rage 4 and Samurai Shodown, and I’m Big Excited for those! That’s it fo now. Will be back when more doll stuff gets announced/shown off

More Than You Know, Ch 3 (Trixya) - Joanne Elizabeth
Summary: Yes, she found Trixie incredibly hot. Yes, this week had put them in some strange situations. But they were still best friends, and if Trixie was interested her in that way, then Katya would be here in Bumfuck, Wisconsin as her actual girlfriend. But she wasn’t. She was her fake girlfriend to make her family happy. She was the most convenient choice as a fake girlfriend, as they spent all their time together anyway. That was why Katya was here. Outside, smoking a cigarette while her best friend fingered herself four stories above Katya’s head, in Katya’s bed.
Trixie struggled to open her eyes the next morning because they were tacky with dried tears. She felt so embarrassed - she hadn’t had nightmares like that in a while, and to have them in front of Katya was way more than she could take on without coffee with this slight hangover. And now there was the actual issue of getting up to get it. She was holding Katya against her chest and moving would surely wake the other girl.
Also like, she was holding Katya against her chest. Trixie considered going back to sleep to avoid all of the thoughts buzzing around. She tried to settle back into the surprisingly comfortable bed, letting her breathing match Katya’s.
She roused again at the clicking of the door. Katya was nowhere to be seen, so she guessed she was smoking downstairs. Trixie stretched and started towards the bathroom, intent on showering so she and Katya could find breakfast together.
But when she opened the door, she forgot all about that because there were boobs.
Katya’s boobs. With Katya’s neatly painted red fingernails touching them gently, and then squeezing them in surprise. Trixie was mesmerized by the way her nipple was puckered. Katya was frozen, hips leaning against the mirror, tight ass poked out slightly, hands grasping her breasts, eyes locked into Trixie’s roaming ones in the mirror.
“Fuck,” Trixie finally had the wherewithal to exclaim, “I’m so sorry, oh my god.” She shut the door quickly.
“My bad! I should have locked it!” called Katya
“I should have knocked!” Trixie argued.
“It’s all good. I’m going to take a quick shower.” Trixie nodded into the empty room. She turned on the TV for a distraction and set to work on the small personal coffee maker the room supplied them with.
This was fine. Friends saw each other naked sometimes. She’d changed with Kim numerous times, had pulled a naked and drunk Trannika to the correct bed once. It wasn’t a big deal. She took a sip of coffee, burning her upper lip with her trembling hand.
Katya emerged from the bathroom in a gust of steam and tiny workout shorts and a tank top.
“It occurs to me now that I’m probably just going to get sweaty again,” she laughed.
“Yeah, but airplane gunk,” Trixie protested. Katya nodded in agreement, like the sentence made sense. Maybe it did to her. Trixie rushed into the bathroom, cheeks still faintly burning, and tied her hair up into a bun. It was only going to be weird if she made it weird.
Once both girls were dressed (even though Trixie despised the athletic-wear her sister had insisted upon for this bachelorette surprise), they found a late breakfast at the diner across the street and sat in comfortable silence on their phones until it was time to meet the bridal party for their event.
Trixie was more nervous about introducing Katya to Maggie’s friends than she was to Maggie. She could predict her sister’s actions and thoughts, but strangers’? Katya, however, took the news that she’d be participating in the bridal activities fairly well. It turned out that Maggie’s coworker Leiah had gone into early labor, and she had been replaced with Robert’s teen daughter Angel, but Angel couldn’t go out on the bachelorette party, hence Katya was now obligated to fill the spot because c’mon it’s already been paid for and it’ll be fun and we should get to know her better, Trixie.     So here she sat, smushed into the backseat of someone’s giant SUV, between Katya and a girl named Sydney, on their way to some sort of dance lesson.     “Katya, what do you do?” Elena, Maggie’s best friend, said from the driver’s seat.
“I teach yoga,” Katya shrugged. Trixie scoffed.
“She’s an artist. She also works at the gallery that features her work,” Trixie defended.
“Yeah, but yoga pays just as much of the bills lately.” Trixie pushed her shoulder into Katya’s.
“That sounds nice!” Sydney smiled. Elena turned around at the light.
“The yoga will help you here,” she winked. Katya’s brow wrinkled in confusion.
Pole dancing. They were taking a pole dancing class. Trixie hated Maggie, or actually, Elena, since it was her surprise to Maggie for her bachelorette party. She smoothed her shirt down in the mirror, feeling suddenly like her clothes were too tight.
Their instructor was a lanky dark skinned girl who wore a white pair of boyshorts instead of regular pants. Trixie yanked her own leggings even higher on her waist. She introduced herself as Michaela and was suddenly upside down on the pole, legs spread almost parallel to the floor. Trixie felt her jaw drop a little.
It turned out, Trixie wasn’t terrible at pole dancing. The only time she felt herself really fumble was when she looked at Katya. Katya was a goddess, an ethereal being in black short shorts with thighs that squeezed the pole and hands that gracefully supported her, even when she fell.
Michaela asked them to try a move called the fairy and Trixie spent a moment longer than necessary adjusting herself on the pole, enjoying the pressure it placed between her legs. God, this was actually sort of hot? Trixie regretted thinking that she hated Elena for this surprise.
By the time they were finished, she could feel her blood thrumming under her skin and was excited to go back to the hotel to change for a night out of drinking and dancing. She felt invigorated, if not a little sore.
“Is this a knock-off Applebee’s? Is that even a thing that can exist?” Trixie whispered through Katya’s hair as she scanned the menu of the restaurant. They were scrunched into a tacky booth only two hours after their class.
Trixie had partaken in the champagne that Elena had offered them as they changed from their pole dancing outfits into ones suitable for the club. It was making her lightheaded, but she wasn’t sure if she could blame the champagne or the proximity. Either way, she was starting to feel really bratty. Especially that now that Trixie had seen their “fancy restaurant,” she began to question the reputability of the club.
“Shh, I’ll buy you another drink and you won’t even notice,” Katya laughed into her ear, leaning with her hand on her thigh. Trixie clenched it unconsciously.
“So how did you two meet?” Sydney cooed, already slurping the last of her drink through the ice cubes.
“At a party,” Trixie shrugged at the same time that Katya said, “Through our friend Pearl.”
“It was Pearl’s party,” Trixie explained, “And we were both there.”
“And was it like, love at first sight? Did you guys instantly click?” Elena questioned. Trixie’s cheeks turned hot.
“Kind of?” She said, avoiding Katya’s eye. She could still remember the first time she’d met Katya. It was at Pearl’s New Year’s party and she’d been a little too drunk to categorize her properly.
Trixie was in the kitchen searching for another drink when two figures practically fell through the door, excitedly babbling in an alien language.
“Woah, how drunk am I?” Trixie muttered, catching the attention of one of the girls that she now recognized to be Sasha.
“You’re not, кукла. Well, maybe you are,” Sasha extended an arm out to Trixie, pulling her over, “But look! Someone who speaks Russian!” Trixie watched Sasha’s eyes light up before turning her attention to the other girl and - woah.
She had honey blonde hair that curled and frizzed around her shoulders and a tiny magnifying glass around her neck. Her skirt was black with embroidered flowers and Trixie thought it could have been trendy if she had paired it with a top that didn’t violently clash with it the way this one did. But it worked, standing out against her tan skin, too tan for the winter months, even in LA. Trixie glanced down at her legs, which were just as tan and bare and oh my god she really might be drunk already because she felt her heart slow down as she took those thighs into memory.
“ привет, I’m Katya.” She did a little wave, and Sasha immediately grabbed her hand.
“No, the whole thing, again! Please.” Sasha was definitely tipsy; Trixie could see the flush in her cheeks. She wanted to glance behind them to search for Shea, but couldn’t bring herself to look past the blonde.
“My name is Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova, but you can call me Katya.” Her voice was husky and her teeth were bright white against the dark red lips and Trixie waited longer than socially acceptable to meet her eyes again.
“Well, my name is Beatrice Chenoa Mattel, but you can call me Trixie.” She popped her straw into her mouth, only to drop it when a cackle, a true shrieking cackle, came from the girl in front of her. She clutched on to Sasha to steady herself.
“Baaaabyyyyy.” Sasha whipped around, almost dropping Katya. Trixie stifled a giggle - Sasha would always literally drop everything for her girlfriend. Shea appeared in the doorway, looking like an actual hologram of Naomi Campbell, posed against the door frame.
“It’s almost midnight, come spend the last part of the year with me,” Her voice was pitched low, and even Trixie shivered a little. Sasha squeezed Katya’s arm in a goodbye and followed Shea down the hall to one of the bedrooms.
“Gross,” Katya scrunched her nose, pouring water from the tap into one of the plastic cups.
“Lesbian sex?” Trixie questioned, ready to fight this gorgeous woman if she dared to bad mouth her friends. God, she definitely had had whiskey tonight.
“Are you kidding? That’s my only hobby,” Katya laughed, “I meant love.”
“ I don’t think it’s gross,” Trixie defended. The condensation from her emptied cup dripped down her hand. It tickled.
“Yeah? So who are you kissing at midnight, lovebird?” Katya looked Trixie up and down in a way that she could almost feel on her skin. Trixie shook her hair to cover her face more.
“Oh, I didn’t come with anybody,” Trixie blushed, “I mean, some friends, but-”
“You don’t kiss your friends?” Katya finished for her. Trixie shrugged, almost gasping when Katya licked her lips.
“Noted,” Katya winked, checking her phone. “Well, it’s almost midnight. Who’s it going to be?”
“The only man I’ll ever love,” Trixie smiled, turning to face the counter and find the bottle, “Andre!” Katya doubled over at the joke, her laughter coming out in screaming and wheezing bursts. Trixie joined her, her own piercing scream of a laugh ringing through the small kitchen.
“Well, in that case, let me get a couple’s pic,” Katya wheezed, holding up her cell phone. The countdown started in the living room, but Trixie merely fluffed her hair before grabbing the bottle again. She turned to her best side, cocking her hip out in a practiced way to make her ass look bigger and waist look smaller. She puckered her lips and placed the bottle there carefully to avoid smudging her lipstick.
“Gorgeous,” Katya muttered, snapping the picture as people began counting down in the living room.
“Oh my god, send that to me,” Trixie exclaimed, crowding into Katya’s space to see. She pushed some of her hair away from her shoulder, and got a whiff of her smoky and spicy scent.
“I need your number first,” Katya reminded, holding the phone out for Trixie. She took it, brushing her fingertips lightly over Katya’s cold ones as she returned the phone.
“Tallulah, get out here,” Trannika burst through the kitchen, “Naomi texted Kim and she’s having a crisis and I personally have not had enough to drink to deal with her.” She saw Katya, and how close she and Trixie were standing, “Or um, actually I can do it.”
“No, it’s fine,” Trixie took a giant step away from Katya, “Send me that, I gotta go.” She pushed past Trannika to go find her best friend, and didn’t see Katya for the rest of the night.
“Yeah, she gave me her number and totally ditched me,” Katya teased, “But luckily my texting game is strong.”
“Oh whatever, I had to see what was up with Kim! And good thing I did, the dumb bitch almost drunk dialed Naomi at midnight. “ Her knees brushed Katya’s thigh when she turned to argue.
“We have a few mutual friends, so we mostly hung out as a group until she found me too irresistible to just see on the weekends.” Katya turned back towards the table, smirking.
“Yeah, when did that change? When you came over before we went to Sasha’s play?” Trixie asked as she took a heavy sip of the sangria. She knew that was it, but wasn’t sure if Katya remembered.
“Yeah, you made a strawberry cake and invited me over to your place.” Katya was grinning mischievously at the girls at the table, but Trixie distinctly recalls that being a terrible day.
Trixie had gone to two separate grocery stores to find the ingredients she’d needed for the cake. She tried to tell herself it was just a craving she was having, but the desire to make a cake from scratch on the same day that Katya was coming over for the first time seemed like more than a coincidence.
She wanted to impress her. In the few times they’d seen each other, mostly at Pearl’s or out to dinner or even that one time dancing where Trixie drank too much and sent herself home before she could be embarrassing, she’d really started to crush on Katya. She was funny, and kind, and seemed to care about Trixie just as much.
When Shea had mentioned Sasha’s performance, Trixie had insisted she invite Katya - the two had continued their obsession with each other since New Year’s, so it only made sense. And of course Trixie could get off work in time for the performance. She was a good friend, after all.
So when Katya had agreed to go to the show, Trixie had suggested they carpool. Meet me at my house, she’d said, we can hang out before we go. And when Katya’d arrived at her door in a magenta sweater with black handprints scattered across it, all Trixie could think about was placing her hands on each one, especially the one on her sternum, right between her breasts. But then she needed to frost the cake, which was a welcome distraction.
“You play guitar?” And instantaneously, Trixie’s heart was back in her throat.
“Yeah! I’ve been working on getting a new song down. Want to hear it?” She coughed slightly, adjusting herself some to cool down.
“Sure,” Katya nodded from Trixie’s chair at the table. If Katya started coming over more, she’d happily give her the spot. She looked amazing there, with the light coming in through the window to dance in her hair. Trixie rushed to wash her hands after putting the cake away, eager to show Katya her  guitar skills.
“Okay, tell me if I’ve got it right enough for you to recognize it.”
Blushing, Trixie began to play Landslide. Like every other woman who loves women, the song was special to her, and she hadn’t played it in front of anyone yet.
“I should set you up with my friend Alaska,” Katya smiled. Trixie’s hands missed a fret and she clumsily dropped the guitar into her lap.
     “What?”
“You like music, she likes music. You should get a girlfriend. I’ll set you up.” Katya shrugged coolly, as if she set her friends up all of the time. She probably did.
“Um, okay,” Trixie floundered, putting the guitar back down, “Sure.”
Clearly, Katya didn’t like her. Why would she? Trixie was just an idiot backwoods girl who wore too much makeup and weighed too much. She didn’t know anything about Katya’s cool art interests, couldn’t even keep up with a conversation with her half of the times. Trixie had made it all up in her head.
“What about you, Maggie? Tell us how you met Ryan.” As Katya listened to Maggie’s story, Trixie couldn’t look away from her.
Katya was beautiful, as beautiful as the first time she’d seen her. Maybe even more so. It’d been months since that day, and she’d never fully gotten over that rejection. Which was dumb. She’d technically moved on, having gone home with that girl Kimora from the club. Fuck, she had been so hot, and so very good in bed. But even just that night, she had missed like all of Trixie’s jokes. Katya always laughed at her jokes. Trixie bet she was pretty good in bed too. She was so flexible, after all. Trixie thought about the way her tongue twisted when she spoke Russian. And her breasts, this morning, pale against her tanned hands. Trixie bet she could fit one in each hand as Katya spread herself into a slow split over her face.
“You okay, babe?” Katya asked, knocking Trixie out of her day dream.
“Uh huh,” she blinked, “Why?” Katya wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
“You’re squirming. Do you need up to pee?” Katya indicated the booth they were in. Trixie shook her head.
“I’m okay.” She signalled to their waiter that she’d take another drink. She leaned her head into Katya’s shoulder and listening to Maggie talk about Ryan. Even if she had made it all up in her head, it was nice to pretend for a minute.
Katya reentered the club after her cigarette break to find Trixie leaning against the bar, breasts pushed up almost to her chin, smiling at the bartender. He stared down her shirt as he handed her two drinks.
“Hi baby,” Katya projected, loud enough for the creepy bartender to hear, and placed her hand on the small of Trixie’s sweaty back. Trixie side-stepped out of it, turning quickly to hand her the shorter of the two glasses.
“Coke,” she said brusquely, sipping her own pint glass of water.
“Thanks. Do you want to dance again?” Trixie shook her head, and Katya deflated slightly. Dancing with Trixie pressed against her had been fun, exhilarating. Her ass in this dress was incomprehensibly good.
“Can we sit down?” Trixie practically whined. Katya led her to a table near where Sydney and Elena were dancing. Once she was seated safely, Katya bent towards the floor to stretch her sore hamstrings.
“Can you just fucking sit down?” Trixie snapped. Katya’s eyes flew to Trixie, who had the decency to look apologetic. Katya did as she was asked, wrapping her leg against Trixie’s. Trixie uncrossed her legs and gave her some space. Katya quietly sipped her coke, eyes cast downward.
“Do you want a cigarette or something? You’ve been cranky all night,” Katya grumbled as she watched Trixie fight with the key card to their hotel room.
“I’m not cranky,” Trixie whined, kicking her shoes off forcefully. They both watched as one flew halfway across the room before landing with a plomp.
“Sure, mama.” Katya sat on the bed and stretched her leg above her head.
“Are you kidding me!” Trixie moaned, turning her back to Katya.
    “What is going on, Trix?”
“It’s dumb, let’s go to bed,” Trixie sighed, running a hand through her hair, “This has been the longest day of my life.”
“No,” Katya was up in an instant grasping Trixie’s hands in hers, “You’re upset. What’s going on? I don’t care if it’s dumb.” She tried to force Trixie into eye contact, but Trixie’s blue eyes were flitting all around the room. Katya waited, stroking her thumbs over the tops of Trixie’s fingers.
“Stop,” Trixie pulled her hands away, “Fine.” She sighed. “That stupid class was really hot and I haven’t had sex in ages and I’m just really wound up right now and you putting your stupid fucking leg behind your head every two seconds isn’t helping and I just want to sleep.” Trixie was blushing bright pink by the end of her rant. Katya had to bite her tongue to not laugh at her best friend, but when Trixie stomped her foot in a little pout, she lost it.
    “Stop laughing!” Trixie cried.
“Sorry, I just,” Katya gasped for air, “You’ve been a bitch for the whole night because you’re horny? So do something about it!”
“I’m not you, Katya, I can’t just go on Tindr or Her and find a hookup in the middle of Wisconsin,” Trixie grumbled. Katya started laughing all over again.
“Oh my god. I’m leaving, and I want you to text me when you’re done masturbating so that you can stop being such a grouch,” Katya giggled, slipping back into her shoes. Trixie’s face fell into a stunned little ‘o’. She watched as Katya grabbed her purse and pulled the phone charger from the socket.
“Where are you going?” Trixie asked quietly. Katya grinned and walked back into her space.
“Don’t worry, I’ll just go to the lobby or a walk.”
“You don’t have to –” Trixie started, but stopped when Katya’s hand caressed her hip.
“I don’t mind. Take your time, watch the good porn, and text me when you want me back in,” Katya whispered. She saw the other girl’s breath hitch behind her round breasts. For good measure, she squeezed her hip before walking away.
She laughed gently to herself as she took the elevator down to the lobby. She had just smoked on their way in, so she didn’t need a cigarette just yet, so she settled into one of the chairs there, plugging her phone into the outlet beside it.
Katya: Trixie was just embarrassed to tell me she was horny?? Wtf? Has she met me?
Alaska: Weird. Why did that get brought up tho?
Katya: She was being cranky. We went to a pole dancing class for her sister’s bachelorette party.
Katya: Which btw I have found my calling. I’m going to quit my job to be a pole dancer.
Alaska: Of course you were perfect at it, whore. So what, in addition to being fake girlfriends who hold hands and go to weddings, now you pole dance and talk about how horny you are?
Alaska: Omg did you offer to “help her out”???? Just some bros being bros? Gals being pals? Friends gettin to an end???
Katya: What even are you? Nah, I’m in the lobby, letting her masturbate in peace.
Katya: So if my stripper name was Russian, do you think I’d get more or less people?
Alaska: Huh? You said k bye im gonna sexile myself while you finger yourself?
Alaska: So platonic.
Alaska: I don’t know… Do you want people to butcher it while you perform? Because half of us can’t get your name right sober.
Trixie: (please pretend i didnt ask this tmrw but what is the good porn?)
That caused Katya to pause her conversation with Alaska. Was Trixie Mattel really asking her for porn recommendations?
Katya: Any kinks I need to know about? Special requests?
Trixie: just no boys.
Katya: WAIT. Are you a LESBIAN?!?!?
Trixie: ur humor is appreciated but pleeeassseee…
Katya could practically hear Trixie whining, and it made her smile. She felt hot, so she took off her jacket before opening up an incognito tab and typing in one of her standard websites. It didn’t take long for Katya to find one she’d been favoring recently that was tame and gentle but still sexy. She copied the link into their chat and locked her phone.
She stared at herself in the black void of her phone screen. Trixie didn’t text a “thanks” back, so Katya assumed she was watching the video. Trixie was in the bed that they were sharing, touching herself, to Katya’s favorite porn, that Trixie had asked for.
    Katya needed that cigarette now.
She unplugged her charger and swept it into her bag as she stood. Her knees wobbled slightly in her boots, and the fresh air was welcome to her heated skin. The smoke filling her lungs helped her to think. Yes, she found Trixie incredibly hot.
She lit another cigarette as soon as she stubbed the first one out under her boot.
She was almost done with her second cigarette when she got a text from Trixie saying she could come back. Katya rifled for her room key, but couldn’t find it in her bag. She knocked gently on the door, and it took a minute for Trixie to come to the door.
“Where’s your key?” She was already heading back towards the bed, but Katya clocked that she didn’t have on her sleep shorts under the oversized shirt. Katya watched as the light from the hallway danced over Trixie’s thighs and the round curve of her butt.
“Uh, on the tv,” Katya said as she tossed it in her purse. She began undressing, and noticed that her panties were wet. Katya rolled her eyes at herself, stepping into her pajama shorts. One of them being pantsless was enough. She shook her head and blindly wiped at her face with a makeup wipe.
“What’d you think of the video?” Katya asked casually as she walked towards the bathroom. Trixie groaned.
“Please don’t,” she warned. Katya made a questioning noise around her toothbrush. “Don’t make fun of me. Just come to bed.”
“I wasn’t making fun of you,” Katya protested, spitting her toothpaste out. “That’s one of my favorite videos. I was simply curious if you liked it as well.”
“She looked like you,” Trixie mumbled as Katya flipped the lights off.
“What?” Katya climbed under the covers, leaving a few inches between their bare legs.
“The one with the bra on, she looked like you.”
“Are you saying I’m so self absorbed that a porn I like has a girl that looks like me in it?” Katya giggled, shoving her arm.
“It’s true, whatever,” Trixie shoved back, “Now come here, I wanna cuddle now.”
“Oh, you would be the type to cuddle after sex,” Katya joked, but opened her arms to the bigger girl.
“Everybody does, that’s the point,” Trixie said into Katya’s chest.
“No, the point is orgasms,” Katya deadpanned. She pushed Trixie’s fluff of hair out of her face.
     “And physical closeness,” Trixie countered.
“We’re close right now, is that what you want?” Katya was whispering now.
“Yeah, I just came twice and I wanna cuddle, now shut up.” Katya’s eyebrows shot up.
“Twice?” Trixie just nestled in closer to Katya, pushing her leg in between Katya’s thighs. Katya softly gasped, wrapping her arm tighter around Trixie.
“It was a really hot video, shuddup,” Trixie mumbled.
“With the girl who looked like me?” Katya asked, no teasing in her voice. She could feel her heart in her throat and her pulse between her legs.
“Yeah. Night Katya,” Trixie sighed. Katya lay there, frozen. She could feel Trixie’s breasts on her ribcage. She could feel Trixie’s breath on her own breasts, even through her t-shirt. Trixie’s silky thigh was in between Katya’s own.Trixie’s fingers, which had just been inside of her were tangled in Katya’s blonde hair.
The way Katya saw it, she had two options. She could sneak off to the bathroom and finger fuck herself until she forgot about how attracted she was to her best friend, or she could act on those attractions. Ignoring them was no longer an option.
She mentally flipped a coin, sighed at the outcome, and slowly began to roll her hips into Trixie’s leg.
She grinded for about five seconds before Trixie’s hand on her chest tightened and Katya heard her gasp. Katya froze for a second, a tortuously long second, before continuing the slow pace of her hips. She began to trace patterns on Trixie’s back with her fingertips.
Trixie’s back arched into her touch, and Katya let out a sigh of relief.
     “You awake?” Katya whispered.
“Do you want me to be?” Katya nodded, running her hand lower, fingers teasing at the lace edging that encompassed Trixie’s thick hip. “Then yeah, I’m awake.”
Katya slowly slid her hand underneath the soft lace and pulled Trixie in closer by her ass. Trixie hitched her leg even closer to the heat of Katya, where she was still slowly grinding. Katya shivered as Trixie’s hand pushed her hair aside and began lightly squeezing her breast.
“Fuck,” Katya whispered, tightening her grip on Trixie’s ass.
“It’s okay, this is okay,” Trixie muttered into Katya’s neck, her breath hot and ticklish.
Katya whimpered as Trixie began toying with her nipple through her shirt.
“Can you get off like this?” Trixie asked, letting her lips brush against Katya’s pulse. Katya whined.
“I, uh,” she continued to move her hips, “I don’t think so.” Trixie’s hand on her breast froze and Katya almost rushed to take back the words. Anything to keep this going. But before she could, she felt Trixie’s hand slide down her stomach.
     “May I?” Trixie purred.
“Please,” Katya gasped, throwing her head back into the pillow as Trixie’s fingers slipped below her waistband.
Trixie was tentative at first, and Katya couldn’t tell if it was her own body vibrating in anticipation or if her hands were trembling. But when Katya immediately moaned as Trixie’s fingertips brushed her clit, any shyness ceased. She used two fingers to circle all around her clit, while pushing her face deeper into Katya’s neck.
“Is it lame if I’m already close?” Katya giggled, sliding her hand up to tangle into Trixie’s hair. Trixie shook her head and leaned into the touch.
“‘S hot.” Trixie gasped when Katya pulled lightly on her blonde roots. She slid her fingers lower, moving in quick circles at Katya’s entrance.
“Please,” Katya encouraged, grinding down on her hand. Trixie obliged and dipped both fingers in at once, immediately crooking them upwards.
“So wet,” Trixie mumbled against Katya’s skin.
“Don’t stop,” Katya warned, earnestly fucking herself down on her friend’s hand now. Trixie slid her thumb back over to Katya’s clit and watched as the girl fell apart beneath her, shaking and biting her lips to keep back moans. Trixie slowly pumped her through it, waiting until she sighed to pull her hand away. She gently returned the sleep shorts to where they belonged and wiped her hand on her own t-shirt.
     “Christ,” Katya laughed, still panting.
“Go to sleep, honey.” Trixie settled back down to Katya’s chest.
“Do you want me to…?” Katya trailed off, waving her hand towards Trixie.
“No, I’m okay. Go to sleep. We’ve got a lot to do tomorrow.” With that, Trixie nuzzled into Katya’s chest and closed her eyes. Katya fell asleep soon after, with her hand still tangled in Trixie’s hair.

New York, NY | November 11, 2019 – The Toy Association today unveiled 114 toy and game finalists for the prestigious 2020 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards. Known as the “Oscars” of the toy industry, the TOTY Awards program recognizes the top playthings on the market – from STEM/STEAM and innovative toys to dolls, action figures, creative toys, and more. The program is also a vital fundraiser for The Toy Foundation, which annually delivers toys to millions of children in need.
Finalists were announced this morning by a group of well-known online influencers who serve as TOTY ambassadors. Between now and January 5, 2020 play-lovers of all ages can visit www.ToyAwards.org to vote for their favorite playthings in each of the 16 categories, browse toys, download shopping lists for the holidays, and enter for a chance to win one of 16 toy prize packages.
“From an extraordinary field of nominees carefully reviewed by expert judges, this year’s TOTY finalists truly represent our members’ ability to bring fun, laughter, discovery, and learning to kids across America and around the world,” said Steve Pasierb, president & CEO of The Toy Association. “We are proud to unveil these playthings in advance of the holiday season and celebrate the toy community’s enduring ability to inspire generations of play. Everyone is encouraged to cast their votes at ToyAwards.org and help decide the winners!”
Winners in each category, as well as the coveted overall Toy of the Year winner and the People’s Choice winner (based solely on consumer votes), will be announced at the TOTY Awards gala on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City. Katya (Trixya) pt 8/? - Skyline
AN: Hello AQ :) Worked on this for a few days so hope you guys dig it! Been trying to write longer chapters so I hope this is up to par! Also a note from the last part, my dumb ass typed “Abby” instead of “Courtney” for whatever-the-fuck reason so I apologize for that confusion. If you didn’t catch it, then good. lol. Alright! Enough of my blabbing, get to reading! And leave me some feedback, I love hearing from you guys <3 -Skyline
Summary: Lesbian Trixya AU based off the incredible movie Carol, set in New York during the 50’s. Katya, a mother struggling through a messy divorce meets young, inexperienced Trixie at a department store and they hit it off.
Half way through the train ride, Trixie finally got her mascara soaked tears to stop. If only the same could be said for her brain. Why was she so upset? She had no right to be. Katya was just an acquaintance. An acquaintance, yet she felt more of a connection with her than she had with anyone in a long time. Her two years in New York hadn’t been the easiest. When she moved from Wisconsin, being away from her mother was harder than she ever thought it would be. Of course she was glad to get away from her miserable step father. She thought that would be a good enough justification to leave her family. She thought it would get her through.
She lived the first few weeks depressed up until meeting Matt and his friends. She thought she’d finally felt some sort of contentment. She belonged somewhere in this crazy city. But when she first saw Katya, that’s when she finally felt it. A spark. A feeling that had been missing since she left home. She was forlorn because she hoped this wasn’t the end. It couldn’t be the end.
She’d caught a cab outside of Penn Station, and sat in silence on the 10 minute drive to her apartment. The tinge from the street lights casted a yellowish glare in Trixie’s eyes every few seconds. She closed them tight, wishing for the end of this turned-to-crap night to come already.
The Taxi pulled up to her apartments around 11:30pm. She knew her neighbor’s, one in particular, would chastise her for coming home so late. Hopefully Alyssa would be asleep by now, she prayed. She was ascending the last flight when a startling ring came from the joint phone in the middle of the three apartments on her floor. Great, she thought. If Alyssa wasn’t up, she sure would be now. She hopped quickly up the last two steps and grabbed the phone from the hook as rapidly as she could, as if the damage wasn’t already done. “Hello?”
But before the person on the other line could answer, a grumpy Alyssa popped her head out from her apartment door, her usual long brown locks wrapped in curlers. “Do you know what time it is, Ms. Mattel?” Trixie looked over apologetically and pressed her hand to the receiving end of the phone. “I’m sorry! It just rang..” Alyssa rolled her giant eyes, shook her head dramatically and slammed her door shut. Thank god.
Trixie turned her attention back to the call. “Hello?” There was a pause on the line. Trixie immediately knew who it was. Katya was on the other end. She was leaning on the counter in her kitchen, with the umpteenth cigarette of the night between her delicate red painted fingers. Tears still making there way down her raw cheeks.
“I was horrible.. Earlier. Will you forgive me?” Katya’s words were just above a whisper, but her previous crying was evident in her voice. A small flutter in Trixie’s stomach occurred at the realization of Katya being the one phoning her. She almost hated herself for being so hopeful. Trixie was at a loss for words. She just rambled the first thing that jumped into her head. “Yes… I..I mean..” But her thoughts couldn’t be finished. Katya interrupted anyway.
“Then will you.. would you let me come see you tomorrow? Evening?” Trixie’s heart fluttered this time. She wanted to rip the smile from her face. She felt so foolish. She was just crying 30 minutes ago from this woman, and now she had butterflies in her tummy because of her. Who else could do this to her? She didn’t know, because no one’s ever made her feel like this. She couldn’t help herself. “Alright. Yes.” There was a short pause but Trixie continued, knowing if she didn’t speak now, she’d loose her courage from not being face-to-face with the older blonde.
“I wanna– know, I think. I mean I want to ask you things but I’m not sure that you want that.” Katya pulled the phone closer to her, desire expanded in her at the younger blonde’s words. Her voice slightly cracked from crying as she spoke. “Ask me things.. Please…” Out of nowhere a group of rowdy guys started up the stairs making the loudest ruckus. She held the phone to her chest to try and keep the noise out, until they passed her on their journey to their apartment a few flights up. She put the phone back to her ear trying to savor the last few seconds of the call. All she could hear was Katya’s steady breathing. She hangs up the phone.                                                         ……….
The next day, Katya is rushing down the sidewalks of Manhattan trying to get to her Lawyer’s appointment on time. The traffic had been hell from Long Island, but at least she found a decent parking spot. She scurried up the steps into the large office lobby, her black mary janes clicking on the tiles below her. She smoothed a hand down her crisp black sheath dress and matching blazer, trying to look like she didn’t just sprint here from her car. She greeted her lawyers lovely secretary who took Katya’s red coat and hat from her and hung it in the coat closet.
“There he is!” Her lawyer’s footsteps heard behind her made her turn and smile. He walked past her and opened his office door to escort her in.“Now will you talk to me?” She says with an almost playfulness to her voice, but she knows this is a serious matter. “ You know you didn’t have to come all the way down here today Katya—” He was cut off by her sharp voice.
“Just give it to me straight, Max. What am I not to worry about until after the holiday?” She looked him dead in the eyes. He scrambled his way to his desk while speaking. “Paul Charles served some papers this morning, to my complete surprise— Why don’t you eh, sit.” He took a seat at his desk and gestured for Katya to do the same. She just stared at his hand and stayed glued to her stance. A smirk adorned her features. “Why is it people think you’ll take bad news better if you’re sitting down?” A sad smile spread on Max’s face as he settled in his chair. He looked down at the paperwork in front of him and began.
“Roy has sought an injunction which denies you any access to Violet until the hearing.” Katya’s smirk instantly fades. She rips off her red gloves, those gloves, and slams them to the desk. “What?!” She angrily whispers. He continues robotically. “And I’m afraid Roy has changed his mind about joint custody, he wants sole custody of Violet.” She looks at him with complete disbelief.
“But–We’ve already come to an agreement on custody. What’s this all about?” She finally comes around the front of the desk to sit in one of the chairs. She can feel the blood draining from her already pale face. “They’re filing papers on the 29th in district family court for the permanent custody petition.” As if the disbelief wasn’t already painted all over her face, disgust takes its place shortly after his words. “Can he do this? Is it right?”
“I don’t know if it’s right, but it’s legal.” “On what grounds?” Her voice is raised at this point. Max takes his glasses off and places them on the desk. “Listen, let’s wait til after Christmas to—” Again he’s interrupted by the furious blonde. “Max! On. What. Grounds?” Her pained green eyes bore into his for tenth time today. He can’t hide it any longer.
"They’re petitioning a judge to consider a morality clause.“ Katya can’t hide the surprise and anger in her voice. "A morality— What the hell does that mean?” A small sad laugh escapes his lips but its replaced with a serious expression almost instantly. “Alright. I won’t mince words with you.” He picks up a folder, no doubt holding the so called “morality clause” and flips through some papers. “Courtney Act.” He says sternly and she knows. She knows all too well. She takes a gulp of breath feeling her throat close up. “Also they’re suggesting similar associations with– well they’re alleging evidence of a pattern of behavior.” He says it almost disapprovingly but closes the folder and places it off to the side.
“Evidence of a pattern? Courtney is Violets godmother! Court— He–” She pauses and rolls her eyes feeling a wave of emotional exhaustion come over her. She looks down to her hands and has a realization. “If he can’t have me, I can’t have Violet. That’s what—” Her thoughts trail off as she stands and turns to face away from Max. Stroking at her temples like she did last night when Roy was screaming in her kitchen. “I’m sorry but, they seem serious.”
“When is the custody hearing?” She turns back to meet Max’s eyes. He shrugs.“ It’s hard to say with the holidays and the backlog—” “Your best guess Max!” He shrugs again more apologetically. “Not before March. Maybe middle of April?” She stares at him again, frozen in place. “Can I see her?” He closes his eyes in frustration and tries to explain the best he can. “Not– Let me put it this way. It wouldn’t be advisable under the—” “At school?! In an office?!” She desperately tries to find a loophole in this devastating situation. “The issue is not where necessarily..” “Surely a visit, supervised or–” He interrupts her this time.
“There will be serious allegations, forcing contact before the hearing, you risk inviting further scrutiny concerning your conduct.” She looks at him with utter disgust. “MY conduct? Jesus Christ. I’m a mother for gods sake.” She sits on the edge of his desk and hangs her head, defeated. “A morality clause. Pft.” She whispers to herself. She continues.“I see.” “Do you?” She scowls at him. “No! There’s nothing moral about keeping my child away from me.”
Katya sits in the office lobby for a while trying to get her bearings. She feels completely hopeless. Nothing can be done until after the holidays anyway. What can she do? She gets up and pulls her coat on. Sliding her black sunglasses on as she heads out of the offices and onto sidewalks of Manhattan. The hustle and bustle of the city is on high today, with the sidewalks crowded and the streets even worse. She starts to slow her walking, feeling her anxiety take over.
She pulls a cigarette out of the case, but of course struggles to find her lighter anywhere in her black hole of a purse. People in a hurry start to push by and give her dirty looks. All of a sudden the voices, the people, the honking and everything becomes too much. She steps off to the side and walks toward an open shop door that will cover her from the wind. She shakily lights her cigarette and inhales to the utmost capacity her lungs can take.
She lets the smoky air flow from her lips, while she looks at the store display in front of her. She see’s something in particular that catches her undivided attention. What a coincidence, she thinks to herself. And with that a decision is made for her.                                                          ……….
Trixie’s in the record store, picking up a little something for a certain someone. Matt wouldn’t stop bothering her so she had him tag along to keep him quiet. He’s outside smoking a cigarette while she picks up the package. Oh how she loves that habit. Not. When it’s Katya though, it’s a different story. She makes it looks so elegant and beautiful. With Matt it just puts her off even more. She turns to see two women standing in the corner of the store. One of them is in a man’s suit and both are staring directly at her, a seedy smile on the girl with the suits face. Were these women what she would become? Was this what Katya was like? No. Katya wouldn’t stand and gawk at other women with a sleezy expression on her face. Katya was subtle and intelligent. And so beautiful…
Her attention is snapped back to the worker handing her the “package” and sliding it into a bag. She smiles gratefully and walks briskly out the front entrance, not wanting to catch the attention of those women again. Her and Matt stroll down the quiet street, his bike is being trailed along beside him. “Find what you wanted?” He asks her happily. She looks up at him a small smile on her lips. “Yeah, just something for someone at the store.” He hums. “Huh. That’s nice of you.” They keep walking in silence until Matt continues. “You should stop by on Christmas. My mom’s kinda planning on it..” Trixie looks straight ahead a confused expression making its way to her face. “Christmas? It’s for families– I’d feel–I don’t know…” They turn the corner. “You are family Trix.” He says it so surely. Trixie dips into a new conversation, trying to avoid telling him she most definitely won’t be coming for Christmas.
“I’ve been thinking of putting together a portfolio. Of my pictures, ya know? Start taking portraits even. Apply for jobs. Maybe even at a newspaper, Dan said someone—” She was cut off by Matt. “Have you been thinking anymore about Europe?” Her stare at him turns into one of disbelief and she continues walking, this time ahead of him, ignoring his question. “Trix?” She continues walking. “What?!” He says as if he didn’t realize he’d just interrupted her to talk about something she cares nothing about. She stops finally. She looks ahead a mad smirk on her face that changes to an expression of nothingness. She turns to look him dead on.
"How many times have you been in love?“ A small laugh escapes Matt’s mouth before he realizes she’s serious. She glares at him still waiting for a response. He shrugs, a smile splayed on his features. "Never… Until you.” Trixie gets angered knowing he’s lying. “Don’t lie! You told me about those other two girls.” His smile fades and he becomes a little defensive. “Come on.. They were—” He leans in as if anyone is even around listening to them. “I had sex with them. It’s not the same thing.” Trixie becomes the defensive one this time.“ Meaning I’m different because– we haven’t gone all the way?”
Matt looks irritated and closes the small distance between them. “Hey what’s this all about? I love you. That’s whats different.” Any other girl would swoon and praise their man for this kind of declaration. Not Trixie. He smiles, thinking he’s got her. It’s the total opposite. She just gazes at him the same expressionless face she had before. She then turns and starts to walk away again. He trails along after her trying to catch up, so they’re side by side.
“Have you ever been in love with a boy?” Trixie asks nonchalantly. He looks at her perplexed. “No.” He almost scowls when answering her. “But you’ve heard of it.” She says with a more bored tone to her voice. He locks eyes with her, his exterior becoming more stern. “Of course. I mean, have I heard of people like that? Sure.” She’s angered by the way he addresses it. As if they weren’t humans too. “I don’t mean people like that! I mean two people who fall in love with each other. A boy and a boy, out of the blue.”
“I don’t know any people like that. But I’ll tell you this. There’s always some reason for it. In the background.” They continue walking, crossing the street. “So you don’t think it could just— happen to somebody, to anybody?” “No I don’t!” His voice becomes defensive again. “What are you saying? Are you in love with a girl?” Trixie’s cheeks flame and she instantly denies it. “No!” She opens her mouth to try and say more but nothing comes. Matt continues.
“Don’t you know I wanna spend my life with you? Come to France with me, let’s get married!” Trixie is so tired of hearing this. She gets more and more angered each time it’s brought up. She feels this is the breaking point. “Matt! I’m not ready for that! I can’t just make myself.” He looks at her flushed face, bewildered. “What then? Tell me?!” She turns to walk into her apartments, too frustrated to deal with this any longer. “I’m sorry. I have to go.” He watches her go, irritation more evident in his voice as he shouts after her. “Trixie!” She doesn’t look back and she opens the entrance door. She shouts an “I’m sorry” again behind her as the door slams shut.                                                          ………..
Katya and Courtney met at a small restaurant in the city. She wasn’t positive when she was going to see Trixie so she decided to see if Courtney was up for a little afternoon drink at their favorite spot downtown. Of course she was, plus Katya had to inform her of all the falling apart her life seemed to be doing as of the past few days.
“I found Violets hair brush underneath my pillow this morning.” The small smile on her face was only betrayed by the traces of sadness in her voice. She took a deep breath and continued. “Full of her hair. She does that you know. To let me know she’s been a good girl and brushed properly. Usually I clean it out but today— for some reason..” She trailed off the devastation clear in her voice now. She had to keep taking deep breaths in order to keep herself from crying. Courtney looked at her with empathy, but disgust concerning her monstrous husband.
“How could he…How dare he. A morality what?” Courtney questioned, but the sadness was no longer clouding her aussie accent. Her voice was full of anger. Katya looked up and made a face at the mention of the so called morality clause. “Clause, he said.” She takes a dainty sip of her martini and follows with a puff of her cigarette. Courtney’s face turns from anger to regret and remorse. She feels somewhat responsible.
"Oh Katya.“ She says lovingly and shakes her short blonde curls while animatedly talking. "If I am responsible in ANY way—” She opens her lips but is cut off by Katya who grabs her wrist from across the table. She has the most serious look on her face. “Don’t you dare. Don’t you ever.” She looks at Courtney with her don’t even try it look. She was solely responsible for her actions and she would deal with what would come on her own. No one else was responsible. No one.
She pushes her empty glass towards Courtney who grabs the shaker and fills up both their drinks to the top. Courtney see’s the look in Katya’s eyes and knows she doesn’t want to press on the subject further. She takes the hint and drabbles on about a women she met a few weeks back.
"Anyway. I got my eye on this redhead who owns a steakhouse outside of the city. I’m talking SERIOUS Rita Hayworth redhead!“ Katya wheezes and throws her curly blonde tresses behind her as her head falls back with laughter. She comes back to meet Courtney’s eyes, a giant smirk on her face. "You think you got what is takes to handle a redhead?” Courtney just sips her drink slyly and stares at Katya, whose smiles fades slightly. Courtney notices a small suitcase next to Katya on the ground and nods towards it.
“You going somewhere?” She asks, a gentle tone to her words. Katya nods.“West, I thought. At least for a few weeks until the hearing.” She answers almost immediately. Katya’s tone turns almost sad again as she continues. “What else am I gonna do?” Courtney stares at her. She catches on.
"Well I know you don’t like driving alone, so…..“ She stares at Katya who has an unreadable expression on her face and goes on.” She’s young.“ No response. Courtney continues. "Tell me you know what you’re doing?” Katya looks down. She starts to shake her head slowly. “I…. Don’t.” She looks back up at Courtney. A ghost of a smile appears on her red lips. “I never did.” The smile grows to a grin that finds its way to both of the girls faces.                                                         ……….
Trixie’s cleaning the last of her dishes from dinner when she hears a knock at her door. She hasn’t heard from Katya since the night before, so it could be anyone at this point. She still smooths down her plaid pink skirt and runs a hand through her loosening hair just in case. She struts to the front door, heels clicking against the hardwood floors of her hallway. She opens the door to find a grinning Katya stood at her doorstep. She looks immaculate compared to the dingy halls of her apartments.
“Your Landlady let me in.” She says after a beat, then looks down to her side and with her high-heeled clad foot pushes forward a suitcase that Trixie just noticed beside her. After she’s successfully pushed it into the apartment she looks up into Trixie’s eyes, her breathtaking smile still intact. “Merry Christmas.” Trixie looks dumbstruck. Katya bought something for her? She looks down at the gift and back up to Katya’s eyes, disbelief plastered all over her face.
Katya notices and urges her to open it. Trixie drops straight down to her knees in front of the suitcase and begins to open each latch. Excitement and curiosity swirl inside her. She finally flips the last latch and slowly opens the case. Inside is the latest model Canon Camera, that only came out 2 weeks ago, and just about a dozen rolls of kodak film. Trixie slowly picks up the camera as shock fills her entire being. She’s in such disbelief she can barely bring herself to smile. When she finally does she gazes up at Katya and her smile grows instantly, though the shock is still evident in her voice. “Oh Katya.”
She lets the older woman in and takes all her outdoor-wear and lays it on her bed. She turns on the record player in her room and leaves the door open so the apartment is filled with some background noise. When she comes back Katya’s in her kitchen, looking through some photos Trixie has taken and pinned up to the bare walls. There’s pictures of people at work, men in a barber shop, and so many others. Katya’s gaze finally comes to stop at the picture Trixie took of her at the Tree lot. The development is beautiful. Katya looks beautiful. Trixie comes to stand a few feet behind her seeing her admire the picture she took of her. Feeling completely vulnerable she feels the need to defend her work.
“It’s not very good, I was rushed.” She’s anxiously fiddling with her shirt sleeve as she watches Katya eye her work. “I mean.. I can do better.” She adds. Katya’s gaze stays firmly on the picture, transfixed by it. “It’s perfect.” She says and it’s almost a whisper. If Trixie wasn’t right behind her she wouldn’t have heard her. Eventually Katya’s stare shifts to a different picture. One of Trixie as a child. She couldn’t be more than 4 or 5 in the photo. Katya’s hand involuntarily goes to the photo and she gently caresses the aging paper.
“Is this you?” Trixie smiles from behind her and hums a small mhm as a response. Katya realizes her hand on the photo and drops it, her stomach dropping. She wipes away at an imaginary lint on her black dress and turns to walk into the living room. “Do you– have anything other than photo chemicals in the icebox?… I’m feeling—” Her thoughts trail off as she begins to feel a small panic come to rest against her chest. Trixie turns on her heel and opens the fridge. “Sure!” She grabs two beers and a bottle opener from the counter and begins to walk toward the living room. Before she enters she hears Katya take a big shaky breath as she sits on the arm of Trixie’s couch. She hears her breathing labor again and she sets down the beers on the kitchen table.
She turns and slowly comes to stand in the archway between the two rooms, unsure if it’s her place to comfort her. She hears a small sob escape from Katya’s lips and her decision is made for her. She quickly makes her way to the other blonde and rests her hand on her right shoulder, gently stroking her back. Katya squeezes Trixie’s hand on her shoulder and leans into her touch, letting her tears finally fall. She tells her everything.                                                          …….
Eventually they move to the roof of Trixie’s apartments, both needing some air after the heavy conversation. Both are wrapped in their coats, a beer in each girls hand. Katya can’t sit still and paces around the roof while Trixie sits on a wooden box, intently listening to the other women talk. Katya’s ramblings slowly come to a stop and Trixie thinks about the situation before responding. “Is there any point in, I don’t know, fighting it?"
Katya takes in the city skyline in front of her and gently shakes her head. "The injunction? No.” She takes a sip of her beer and continues to ogle the beautiful lights in the distance. Trixie shakes her head in annoyance. How could anyone be so cruel? To take someone’s child away? “I feel useless. Like I can’t help you or offer anything.” Katya turns her attention to the younger blonde a stern expression taking over her delicate features. She raises her voice slightly as she speaks. “It has nothing to do with you.” Trixie looks down in defeat and leans against the brick chimney behind her. Katya see’s her sadness and continues.
“I’m going away for a while.” Trixie looks up at her, confused. “When? Where?” Katya smirks and lets a half laugh escape her mouth and gazes back at the young blonde. She shrugs. “Wherever my car will take me. West…. Soon.” She looks down at her beer and opens her mouth to continue. She pauses but finally just spits it out. “And I thought, perhaps, you would like to come with me?” Trixie’s downcasted stare comes back up again to meet the older womans crystal green gaze. They stare at eachother almost expressionless for a few moments. Katya breaks the silence, eager for an answer. Any answer. “Would you?”
Trixie just nods her head then breaks into a stunning smile. “Yes. Yes I would.” Both their smiles could light up the night in an instant. Trixie’s gaze turns upward. Katya’s eyes follow to see a few snowflakes flutter down from the black night sky above. Is this their sign?
