elaborating on my previous Auraboa doodle, with more thoughts about what my Ideal feathered snake dragon would look like
python face, with no eyelids. why are they called auraBOAs if they're modeled after venomous snakes (i am aware pythons aren't boas either don't @ me. but it's closer than what they have now)
body is entirely feathered, save for the belly scales. in the original drawing, they had a head crest of long feathers that was supposed to get shorter down the neck, and blend into the feathery back mane. in this one i shortened it greatly and made it more of a cockatoo crest thing. a longer crest could still be fun though
the wings and tail feathers have a rounded, elliptical shape to them. elliptical wings give great maneuverability, and would be ideal for a jungle-dwelling dragon
the original doodle had paws and coatl feather ear things, but i'm getting rid of both of those. i like the sleeker snake look that Not having them adds to. also someone in the notes opened my eyes to the hand possibilities, and if this redesign DID have limbs, they would have parrot feet
also sidenote about their name: is it just me or is Auraboa kinda. clunky to say? my brain keeps autocorrecting it to Aurabora, which rolls off the tongue so much nicer. maybe even Auraboras, to make the ouroboros reference clearer

the oportunity of this conquest show to show us balerion in all its glory and his personality and what he searched in his riders so we can guess what his bond with vis was
i actually really dislike that lol. i like the fact that we only ever see balerion dead, his skull on display. i like balerion being mystical and unknown. it aids to the godlike imagery of him. (same reason why i kinda dislike getting to know aegon i. him being secretive so we dont really know anything about him is fun imo) and is a perfect metaphor for the targaryens. clinging to the bones of a long dead empire (and after the dance the power they once held). and for what? we know in valyria the targaryens were only a minor house. that they really werent all that powerful.
ill answer my own hypothetical. because they dont know how to create anything new. they were saved from the doom only to doom themselves because they dont know how to change. so they cling to the bloated corpse of valyria, they put the bones of balerion, the last proof of the thing they once were, on display. are they trying to convince everyone else or themselves?

"Zephyr. Zephyr! Zephyr!"
Zephyr jolts awake, his cocooned body throwing the blankets haphazardly off his bed. He blinks several times, trying to adjust to the gray light of his room. What time was it? Was it still night time? He feels too groggy for it to be late still. The alarm clock he was gifted from Maddy catches his eye, the electric numbers signaling that it's well before proper sunrise.
He groans softly before a loud pounding of his door makes his whole body jolt again, his fingers tightly clutching the sheets.
"I'm awake!" he croaks out, trying to untangle from his sheets.
"You're due for breakfast, lazy oaf. Don't keep me waiting," a stern voice answers.
"Don't keep me waiting," Zephyr mocks quietly, rising from his bed.
Did his brother always have to be such an ass when waking him up? The least he could do is minimize the digs into Zephyr's character. Maybe then the winged man would actually wake up in good spirits.
And who the hell actually woke up at this hour??
Grabbing the nearest, clean shift, Zephyr changed out of his night clothes and began heading out of his room before pausing in front of his mirror. He quickly ran a hand through is unkempt hair and peels off the acne patch Maddy put on his skin the night before, the skin remarkably less irritated.
It helps reduce the redness!
He sighed fondly as he gazes at the patch, remembering Maddy's soft hands and careful placing. She was so incredibly caring and kind, that it almost made Zephyr forget his irritation from a few seconds ago. He would've preferred a wake up call from her than his hardass brother. She would've probably woken him up with breakfast in bed and a warm hug.
A kiss maybe, too.
He shook his head as he willfully discarded the acne patch, heading down with a bit of pep in his step, slightly less dreading the usual, tedious breakfast that awaited him.
***
"So, can you tell me where you go off to at night?"
Zephyr momentarily paused mid-scoop, the oatmeal trailing from his spoon down to his bowl. Shit. Of course, Sol would just get straight to the point. Not surprising, since Sol is the head of the military for his majesty. He was known to be direct and unrelenting, squeezing out every last drop of information you had. Zephyr knows because he's been the unfortunate victim of his interrogations.
Regardless, Zephyr is actually hesitant to say his whereabouts. Normally, he'd sing like a canary for his brother and get Sol off his back, but something inside him was telling Zephyr otherwise. Maddy was not for Sol's ears to learn about and investigate. She was a dear friend and companion, something that Sol would disavow immediately. Relationships between the lower world and their world were strictly forbidden, possibly resulting in banishment for him...
And death for her.
He took a breath before answering, circling through his oatmeal like usual. "Just hanging out with a friend."
"Who?"
"It's whatever, Sol, don't you have—"
"Who?"
Zephyr sighed heavily, meeting his older brother's gaze. "The. Moon. Prince. That's who." Well, it wasn't a complete lie. Zephyr was hanging out more with the Moon prince, Minjae, and teaching him about Earth. Just a few times last week, Zephyr showed Minjae about first aid for humans and how to distinguish between all the different modes of human transportation.
But he didn't need to divest in that.
Sol looked at him with wide eyes. "T-the moon prince? But how did—why does he—how are you friends with him?"
"Beats me," Zephyr shrugged, taking another spoonful of oatmeal. "We just met and became friends."
"That's it? You have to get high level clearance to even meet him. I had to request an audience for him that took two weeks to get approved!"
"Like I said, we just met one night when I was flying down and we crossed paths."
"...Flying down?"
Shit. "Yeah, flying down for...practice. You know we have to practice more at night to better see, right?"
Sol sighed, massaging his forehead with his hand. "You can't fly at all at night, dumbass, it's dangerous. I'm sure that you can find other ways that won't endanger you and your new friend.
"Plus, it'll keep you safe from all the lower-world brutes, too. Could you imagine what would happen if they get their grubby hands on you or the prince?"
Zephyr clenches his unseen hand into a fist, forcing himself to hold back.
"...No, I can't."

HELLO IM LATE but could you share your thoughts about the Heroes blood?? How is it similar/different from the goddess blood and stuff like that. It’s intriguing to me bc and I want to know more pls pls pls pls pls
Let's start with Goddess blood, it's purely hereditary and only affects the women who inherit it. It lays dormant until the goddess's descendants' light power awakens. I also like to think that it has a physical marker. When a descendant of the goddess bleeds, if she has unlocked her power, you can immediately tell who she is. While the reincarnation of Hylia herself has purely golden blood, her descendants have a noticeable golden shimmer to their blood. This also opens up some angsty ideas about how princesses prove that they're true descendants of the goddess and how a princess who struggles to unlock her sealing powers could perhaps be... tested or their identity doubted...
Heroes' blood is much more complex and mysterious. Reincarnations of Link just pop out of nowhere, though that doesn't mean that it can't be passed down through the generations. There are non-heroes with a bit of heroes blood in them, which could lie dormant or grand them extremely minor quirks that the hero tends to just come with. Things like natural ability with a sword, a slight propensity towards magic, strength that's just a little more than natural ability, getting along with animals (usually horses or birds for some reason), general inherent musical talent, etc. Heroes' blood is also less picky compared to Goddess blood, it can be activated in anyone despite gender.
Though Heroes blood doesn't have a physical indicator like goddess blood does, it can still be traced. Monsters can smell the blood of the hero, they fight differently if they're against a hero versus any other hyrulean. The Yiga clan always has members that poof in front of the hero out of nowhere and I'm almost certain that some non-Ganon villains are able to watch the hero from a distance and it wouldn't be a shocker to me if they had to use his blood to do so.
Another important use for the heroes' blood, resurrecting demon kings! This is partially what inspired my thoughts about the blood of the hero, there has to be something up with these guys' blood if it can literally raise the king of evil. (which is my theory about the creation of the Calamity but that's a little off-topic), It's not just the fact that the first reincarnation of the hero defeated the literal god of evil, making it poetic that the current holder of the hero's spirit has to die to revive the evil king, it can also be just how eternal the heroes spirit really is. During the dozens of thousands of years, gods have been reduced to skeletons and even the strongest deities are whispers of what they once were. But one of the oldest ones, older than Hyrule, older than the royal family, older than the master sword, the hero's spirit is still going strong, reincarnation after reincarnation. I think being so ancient and still so powerful makes the blood of the hero very potent for magic.
The thing is, there is a canonical line of heroes, even if the only heroes involved are the hero of Time and the hero of Twilight. I've touched on the idea several times in my LU fics but I am of the headcanon that heroes' blood can carry the magic from several thousand years in the past if the hero used it a lot. I'm also of the opinion that the hero of the Wild is also in the heroes bloodline (there are similarities but that is again a little too off-topic for this current rant), and I like to think that the hero of the wild gets his unique grasp over time from his ancestor who definitely played with time magic to an excessive amount. Perhaps his natural way in the wilderness and ability to see very well in the dark comes from an ancestor who was cursed with shadow magic. The idea that magic used thousands of years ago still persists in their descendants is just intriguing to me.
okay those are all my thoughts for now lol
