İzlediğim en eski kore dizisi olan bu muhteşem kötü diziyi sadece ve sadece Descendants of the sun izledikten sonra Song Joong-Ki merakımdan izledim. İzlemeyin, kimseye de bu kötülüğü yapıp izletmeyin derim. Bir de uzun uzun yazmış çekmişler, 20 bölüm. Çıktığı yıl düşünüldüğünde, belki o dönemin beğenilen dizilerinden biri olabilir. Ödül bile almış olduğunu düşünürsek, birileri beğenmiş belli ki. Ben zaman aşımından sonra izlediğimden olacak ki, güzide Türk dizilerimizi asla aratmadı. Keza bizde bu diziyi çalış Türk versiyonunu çekmişiz.

Ufaktan konusunu anlatayım, adet yerini bulsun. Kang Maru (Song Joong-Ki) dizide geçen “nice guy”’dır. Evladım tıp okumuş asistan doktorluk yapıyor. Mezun olmasına 1-2 senesi kalmış. Gerçekten dizideki tek “nice” şey bu karakterdi. Onu da o kadar “nice” yapmışlar ki, artık iyi olmaktan çıkmış, saf olmuş, aptal olmuş, fantezi olmuş. Neyse Kang Maru’nun lanet olasıca bir çocukluk arkadaşı var. Küçüklüğünden beri gözünü para hırsı bürümüş fakir bir köylü kurnazı, Jee Hee (Park Si-Yeon). Bu hanımefendi, yaşına başına bakmadan bir haltlar karıştırıyor. Gecenin bir yarısı Kang Maru’yu arıyor. Gel diyor beni kurtar. Bizim saf da, hastalıktan yerde kıvranan kardeşini orada bırakıp koşa koşa Jee Hee ye gidiyor. Şeytanın vücut bulmuş hali Jee Hee, bir otel odasında süsten püsten suratı görünmez halde, yerde de kendinden yaşça büyük bir adam ölü yatıyor. Ne oldu ne bitti derken bizim muhteşem iyi yürekli doktor adayımız “sen şimdi kaç ben yaptım derim” demesin mi!!!

Yemin ediyorum anlatırken gerildim. Kız kaçıyor, adam hapse giriyor. “Nice guy”’ımız hapisteyken bu sevimsiz kız bir kere bile ziyarete gelmemesinin yanı sıra, babası yaşında zengin bir adamla evleniyor. Evlendiği adamın bizim şeytanın yaşlarında bir kızı var. Üzerinden iyilik akan başrolümüz, iyi halden hapisten çıkıp evine dönmek için uçağa bindiğinde, uçakta kriz geçiren bir kızcağıza denk geliyor. Uçakta doktora en yakın kişi kendisi olduğu için yardım etmeye karar veriyor. Kızı tedavi edeceği sırada fark ediyoruz ki, hasta olan yolcu Jee Hee’nin evlendiği adamın kızı Eun Gi (Moon Chae-Won).

Dizinin konusu bile konu gibi olmadığından anlat anlat bitiremedim. İşte bu iki karakter uçakta karşılaşmalarından sonrasında, Kang Maru intikam almak istiyor. Dizi bu aşamada intikam konusunu temel alarak, üstüne koya koya entrika ağları ile ilerliyor. Mantık yok, heyecan yok. Aşk desen asla izleyici inandıran bir sevgi bile yok. Kang Maru’nun kardeşine olan sevgisi bile inandırıcı değil, öyle söyleyeyim. Sonuna kadar o kadar zor izledim ki, kelimelerim de tükendi bende tükendim.

Song Joong-Ki oyunculuk anlamında elinden geleni yapmış, hakkını yemeyeyim. Böyle bir senaryoya fazlaydı. Moon Chae-Won ise sanırım çirkin şansından joong-ki ile oynama şerefine nail olmuş. Şeytan kadın ise bundan sonra başka dizide rol alamamış olabilir. Emin değilim. Dizi boyunca sürekli kötülük, entrika izliyoruz. Yeşilçam filmlerini aratmayan hafıza kayıpları izliyoruz. Kötünün neden kötü olduğunu anlamadan, açıklamadan izliyoruz. Adamın intikam hırsını izlerken bir anda “ben sana aşığım, gel benimle ol” buhranını izliyoruz. Sonra “ben diğerine aşık oldum” kararsızlığını izliyoruz. İzliyoruz da izliyoruz…

Vallahi zamanında izlemiş olanları zamanında bırakalım. Şuan izlemeyi düşünen varsa izlemesin.

sieun grunts, falling to the floor. out of all the times his footing could’ve betrayed him, it just had to be now.

“ah, how many times have i beat you today?”

he raises his head up, glaring at the looming figure before him. the boy snorts. “i asked you a question, sieun-ah”.

sieun stays silent, swallowing. “five times”.

“exactly” the boy says, stretching out his hand for him to grab. sieun stares at his outstretched hand for a moment, grabbing it and standing up straight.

he keeps his hands on sieun's. y/n had always been interested by the boy and his knowledge in identifying how his surroundings could aid him in fights, but the thing with sieun was that he couldn’t properly fight, and that was bad since this guy was targeting him.

“let’s do something different” the l/n says, he holds up sieun’s hands, placing them into fists and keeping them still.

sieun watches his moves cautiously, and he can’t help but be so.. dazed by his eyes, which were seemingly glowing as he positioned the boys hands into a fighting stance.

“okay” he breathes, letting go of sieun’s hands. “push your first forward, sieun”.

sieun blinks, keeping his fists in the same exact position as he stared at the boy, confused. “you want me to punch you?”

y/n stares back, a chuckle escaping his lips. “yes and no, just push your fist forward”.

sieun stares, reluctantly pushing his fist forward with much more force than intended. y/n blocks his punch almost immediately, holding his fist.

“see? simple move” y/n says, placing his fist down as sieun dropped his arms on his sides.

y/n then raises his fists, eyes focused on sieun. “now let’s try again, but opposite this time”.

sieun stares, hesitance in his eyes. he knew there was no chance of y/n actually hurting him, but he didn’t want to risk the chance of being too slow and getting accidentally punched.

the l/n seems to read his mind, speaking up once again. “don’t worry, i’ll be careful not to hit you, i’ve done this before, remember?”

sieun takes in his words, before nodding. he takes a deep breath, looking to y/n, a look that confirmed he was ready.

smiling lightly, y/n pushes his fist forward in a punching motion, and sieun surprisingly catches his fist right before it makes contact with his face.

he stares with wide eyes, surprise present in his features. y/n stares back, a small smile gracing his features. “see? you did it”.

sieun’s normally neutral expression remains, though his eyes told a whole different story. they were full of admiration, and he couldn’t help but feel something in his stomach flutter at the feeling.

“well” y/n sighs, removing his first from sieun’s hand. “you did well today, sieun-ah, i’ll see you again next wednesday”.

sieun nods, still not smiling. “yeah, i’ll see you”.

oh, how he couldn’t wait.

Love Is For Suckers

It had been a while since I watched a nice romantic comedy. It had a little bit of everything and there was substance in the plot. I liked the characters and their stories. The friendship between Jae Hoon and Yeo Reum feels natural and genuine. And I like the quartet of high school friends: Yeo Reum, Jae Hoon, Dae Shik and Hye Jin.

You could say this series is divided into two parts. The first one is where we see Jae Hoon's love for Yeo Reum. The friendship that he doesn't want to cross, afraid of being rejected because she is still hung up on the finance who left her. Kim In Woo returns after living in the United States for many years. He now wants to get back together with Yeo Reum. She goes back to him mostly because she keeps thinking about how they were before he left. She doesn't want to face the fact that they have both changed.

The second half of the series focuses on how Yeo Reum realizes and faces the fact that she is in love with Jae Hoon. And this happens in the process of producing Kingdom of Love 2 where he became a participant to replace a person who left at he last minute. But in this reality show will also be participating the young woman his mother made him have a blind date with months ago.

Here we are introduced to another set of characters that also caught my attention. I became invested in Ji Wan's and Chef John's story. Chef John, who had been a jerk in the first part of the series, gets to show us a different side of him that makes us forget that first side we saw earlier.

I won't go into too many details, but I liked how each character faces their sadness, difficulties and move on. I like the fact that those characters we learned to care for have their happy ending.

This is a really sweet story and I recommend it!
