1, 4, and 9 for the end of year ask meme?
1. song of the year
My top Spotify song for the second year in a row was Put ‘Em Up by Priory
My top song that came out this year is either something off of sm(f)s (idk which it’s been a hot minute since I listened to the album so they’re all blurring in my memory) or Get Happy by Matt Maeson
4. movie of the year
I wanna say Godzilla but I still haven’t seen it. (Curse the holidays for no free time, terrible-never-want-to-leave-my-house-again weather, and every other excuse). Hopefully I’ll get to see it this week. I don’t think I’ve seen a lot of new movies this year but it’s probably a coin flip between Asteroid City or Barbie.
Reason why Barbie: it’s so good and pink lovely and everything I wanted from the Barbie movie. Is it high art? Doesn’t need to be. It does what it set out to do and looks fabulous doing it.
Reason why Asteroid City: if you like Wes Anderson this is the most Wes Adnerson movie and it works basically any way you shake it. It pulled me in, got me on board with the framing device immediately, and sold me on whatever story it was trying to tell. Plus the alien is wonderfully weird and should take me out of the story but if anything it draws me in. If you like Wes Anderson you’ll like this. If you don’t like him, don’t watch this. If, like me, the most Wes Anderson you’ve watched is his early stuff during a hs film class, try him again his current stuff - while still very stylized - is much better than his early stuf f
9 best month of the year for you
Glancing through my camera roll I’m gonna say July. I don’t remember anything too headachy from work. I started that month with free Hawaiian shirt night at PNC park and ended it with Yinzerpalooza. In between I drove down to Charlotte and visited my cousin and saw Fall Out Boy live. Barbie Movie came out and I think that’s around when I saw Asteroid City. Based on the memes I have saved I think July 1st was free agency which means Jars re-signing. So yeah. That feels right. My mental health is just better in the summer when I can see the sun. The summer seasonal depression was minor this year (so either I got better at managing it or it was caused entirely by the sudden end of school and any associate routines) and July being in the middle has always been a pretty transitional month without feeling like a blink and it’s gone.

Going to the Pirates home opener? What you need to know
The first-place Pittsburgh Pirates open their home season Friday. They host the Baltimore Orioles. First pitch is set for 4:12 p.m. — a nod to the city’s 412 area code — at PNC Park on Pittsburgh’s North Shore. The weather forecast isn’t looking favorable. Attendance is, however. The game is expected to be a sellout, said Pirates President Travis Williams during Tuesday’s media tour for the…

You Are Officially Eliminated, Pittsburgh Pirates
My Dearest Pittsburgh Pirates,
I know, I know. I’m late. I’ve been a little under the weather and haven’t felt up to writing. No, this isn’t some passive aggressive way to punish you for officially being eliminated from the post season this week. I was seriously sick. You actually put together a nice week. You swept the Kansas City Royals at home to get them across that 100 loss threshold. You weren’t as successful in the final homestand of the season losing two out of three to the Milwaukee Brewers. The season finale at PNC Park was particularly ugly losing 13-6 in a game that featured you giving up a three-run wild pitch. You never cease to amaze me. You’ve played half of your series in Chicago already and have won the first two. That’s something I wouldn’t have expected when you weren’t ridiculously injured. With the Miami rain makeup on October 1st being cancelled, that means you will only play 161 games this season instead of the usual 162. You are 80-76 which means you are only one win away from having a winning season. This season obviously wasn’t everything you or I wanted it to be, but it’s shown upside and potential. It would be nice to cap off 2018 with a winning season. You didn’t have one for twenty years so, while that’s never the ultimate goal, that isn’t nothing. While you are already looking ahead to next year, it would be nice to finish out healthy and strong.
Speaking of health, you now had two significant injuries hit the pitching rotation this week. Chad Kuhl had Tommy John surgery this past week which means he is out for the entire 2019 season. You and him lived in denial for the last few months probably seeing if there was any improvement in order to avoid surgery. That didn’t happen. 14-16 months of recovery means we will see him in 2020 with a long road back to the major league level. With Nick Kingham getting racked in a spot start on Sunday, the rotational depth for next season looks shaky. The other injury is Joe Musgrove whose season is over. He’s dealing with a stress reaction on the front of his pelvic bone and an abdominal wall muscle strain. I don’t know what the hell that means but apparently they will see how it progresses in the next six weeks to see if it requires surgery. That doesn’t sound like something that should carry in to next year, but surgery is surgery so you never know. Musgrove put together a fine first campaign with you, putting up a 4.06 ERA, a 3.58 FIP, and a 1.18 WHIP. Not bad at all for his first full season as a starter. He looks like the only quality part of the Cole trade especially with four more years of control. Let’s just hope that we don’t add him to the list of people missing the start of next season because there’s a lot to be excited about with him.
Speaking of excitement, Pablo Reyes is making quite a name for himself. He was promoted with other September call ups and has played well enough to be an everyday starter for the rest of this season. Polanco’s injury has given him the chance to start in RF every day. His value could really be in his versatility given that he can play both corner outfield spots, 2B, and 3B. Since September 1st, he has splits of .357/.426/.595 for a 1.021 OPS in only 42 at bats. He also has three homers in that time. Reyes wasn’t exactly an offensive force in the minors this year. In AAA this year, he had splits of .289/.341/.435 for a .776 OPS in 420 at bats with 8 homers and 36 RBIs. Not exactly crushing it. He did add 13 stolen bases which isn’t a bad bonus. I don’t know yet if he’s a legitimate candidate for the bench next season but with most of our available money this offseason going to prospective infield starters, it would be nice to have some other options. There’s a distinct possibility this is a rare offensive streak that could be gone before we know it. He does seem to have a nice, compact swing and the ability to be a difference maker. It’s early but he reminds me a little of a young Josh Harrison. That might be an overstatement as utility players go, but he’s been fun to watch so far.
Speaking of JHay, one big moment happened this week. PNC Park said goodbye to Jordy Mercer and JHay, two players unlikely to return next season. Mercer has always had a steady glove and was very helpful in the 2013-2015 playoff run. His WAR in 2013 and 2014 were 1.9 and 2.8 respectively. I’ll always appreciate the consistency he provided at shortstop which can be a hard thing to find. Thanks for the run, Jordy. JHay was marred the last couple years with injuries, a less than stellar bat, and an inflated contract. Before that, JHay was the most electric player on the team. He was a ball player by every definition of the term. He played every position, sparked rallies, and always had clutch hits. The stage never seemed too big for him. Everyone will always talk about the two different times he brilliantly maneuvered a rundown in a perfect depiction of intelligence and athleticism. In 2014, one of his two All Star seasons, he was arguably your most important player and led you to the playoffs finishing the season with a 5.5 WAR and 9th in MVP voting, unheard of for him before that season. Other than Cutch at his peak, JHay was my favorite Pirate. I know the ‘blue collar Pittsburgh player’ label gets thrown around a lot, but he really exemplified it. I’ll always root for good things for JHay. He was a hard worker and a likeable star.  I’ll miss you, JHay. Thanks for everything...
The final week of the season is upon us. It’s actually basically half over thanks to my delay. You play two more games against the Chicago Cubs, who are still fighting for the division with only a half game lead in the division and a chance to help send them to Wildcard game instead of a division championship. You end the season with a three-game series in Cincinnati with the Reds. The rest of this week will be about getting to a winning season. Then you can start to look ahead to the offseason and 2019, where there’s an actual reason for excitement. This offense needs a lot of help but it’s always easier to find hitting then it is pitching. With the rotation and even the bullpen basically set, there are reasons to be optimistic. I’ll get into that more next week. For now, let’s just finish out strong and, most importantly, healthy. The only disappointment recently has been the seriousness of the injuries that occurred down the stretch. We can’t afford anymore of those so PLEASE be careful. I beg you. Have a good final week and I’ll talk to you soon.
I Just Don’t Want Anymore Bad Things To Happen,
                                                                              Brad
P.S. stands for Pittsburgh Steelers who got an ugly but much needed win on Monday night over the Tampa Bay Bucs. The offense and defense played a terrific first half getting them out to a large lead. They squandered that in the second half thanks to bad offense, bad defense, and an absurd amount of penalties. It was an ugly game to watch but all that matters is the W. This week the Steelers (1-1-1) face the division rival Baltimore Ravens (2-1) at Heinz Field on Sunday Night Football. It’s a huge game, like every Ravens game usually is, so here’s hoping they can clean up their play and keep the offense rolling.

Transitioning From Virtual Offices Back Into Your Premises
The pandemic has forced businesses to move online. According to a small business survey conducted by PNC Financial Services Group, a third of companies introduced work-from-home policies in 2020. However, not every business can afford to maintain their work-from-home arrangements in the long term. Gradually, business owners have been reopening their physical premises. After spending the major part of a year away from the office, you need to make the workplace a safe environment again. For most entrepreneurs, this is synonymous with desk distancing, layout changes, and the addition of PVC panels to desk and customer-facing areas. But don’t let COVID safety distract you from checking and fixing the structural damage that could have developed during your absence.

Clogged up gutters
If you haven’t kept up with roof maintenance during the pandemic, now’s the time to give your roof your uttermost attention. Clogged-up gutters have always been a recurring issue for households and offices. But the pandemic has disrupted habits. Therefore, many property managers are only performing seasonal checks and cleaning now. As ski stations are still open late into the season, it’s a good idea to consider the risk of ice around the office. You may want to clear up your gutters, as debris will lead to blockage. If the water accumulates, it could freeze and damage the gutters. Similarly, spring pollen and flowers can also make their way onto your gutters, clogging up the surface.
Basement or warehouse leakage
If you abandon your offices for a year, you may come back to bad surprises. Property experts recommend checking all areas for potential leaks and water infiltration. This can happen for a variety of reasons. Human error is the most likely cause, such as accidentally leaving a window open. Heavy rain can find a way inside the basement or the warehouse. It can be especially damaging if you’ve got items stored there that can absorb the water. You can reach out to professional vacuum truck services to remove stagnant water and floating debris.
Parking lot recovery
If you’ve left your car fleet unmoved for the best part of a year, you might call emergency car repair services to make your vehicles road-ready. Unfortunately, vehicles could have developed corrosion in places after spending a year exposed to the elements. Brake disks could have corroded and got stuck to the wheels. They would require changing. Another common issue is corrosion in the oil tank, which can lead to spillage. To avoid surface damage in your parking lot, you will need to clean tough stains. Additionally, lack of maintenance could also cause the formation of cracks in the asphalt, which needs to be filled.
Plumbing checks
Will the restrooms, manufacturing structures, or the office kitchen plumbing still be in working order? If your office is in a cold region, you may want to check for potential freeze damage on your pipes. The cold weather can cause pipe frost and create cracks on the surface. This is especially common is the pipes are not being used frequently, as it’s been the case during the pandemic.

Meet Althea Lawton-Thompson: Holistic Healing Specialist
We had the good fortune of connecting with Althea Lawton Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Althea, what habits do you feel helped you succeed? My favorite, can’t-live-without-it habit is Meditation. I meditate outside most days in the early morning hours when it’s still dark outside until the first light of sunrise. Being quiet and still while communicating with my spirit guides, grounds and centers me for whatever is coming during the day. I spend time outside every day, regardless of the weather. Communing with nature has an invigorating effect on me that inspires my creativity and helps me focus. Turning my phone completely off at night and waking up without technology (no tv, phone, laptop) allows me to hear myself think. Some of my best ideas come to me in the quiet, uninterrupted minutes as I’m first waking up.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? As I was growing my wellness company, I was also growing my family, giving birth to two sons. I really wanted to travel to Europe to promote my first fitness video, which was selling very well there, but I’d just given birth to my second son and was nursing exclusively. Choosing to be a stay-at-home mother who was very involved in her kids lives didn’t offer me the freedom and time I felt growing my business needed. But I wanted to be with my boys more than I wanted to grow my business, and they always came first. I was originally going to wait until my younger son graduated from
high school to expand my business internationally, but great opportunities started popping up when he was a sophomore. I began taking solo trips to Southeast Asia, Central America, and South America to explore indigenous healing practices from different cultures, or spending days off-the-grid backpacking in the Washington Cascades along the Canadian border. I missed some important events like his junior prom, but I didn’t want to miss out on what was important to me, too. So I chose which things I was willing to let my husband experience for both of us in order to expand my company and myself when the opportunities presented themselves. I’ve now hosted 18 wellness retreats in 7 different countries, and my sons are proud of me and the company I built while raising them. After graduating from college, my older son came to work for the company as the Operations Manager and has been a huge asset through the changes we’ve had to make during Covid. I think we all learned the valuable lesson that no one person in our family is more important than the others. It’s all about balance, compromise, and mutual respect for each one of us and our individual dreams.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc. I love the outdoors, so I’d definitely take a visiting friend walking and hiking on the natural trails of Stone Mountain Park in Stone Mountain, Red top Mountain in Cartersville, and Amicalola Falls in Dahlonega. No matter the time of year, these trails are full of beauty and great views. Afterward, we’d go to one of my favorite restaurants… Tuk Tuk Thai Loft in Brookhaven for Thai food, Desta in Toco Hills and Piassa in Decatur for Ethiopian food, Mangos on Auburn Avenue for Jamaican food, or Mojitos in Norcross for Cuban food. They all offer vegetarian options for me and deliciously seasoned meat and seafood dishes for my non-vegetarian friends.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? My husband, Maurice, has been my absolute biggest supporter and cheerleader from the very beginning. When I wanted to leave corporate America in 1996 to make wellness my full-time career, he was the only one to tell me, “Go for it!” My sister-friend, Yvonne, worked with me on building my international bestselling video series and television show before we moved from Maryland to Atlanta to open a Yoga and wellness studio. She physically supported every one of my business concepts until she passed away in 2010. It was because of her and our experiences together that the current tagline for my business is “Living Life Limitlessly”.
Althea Lawton-Thompson is the Founder and Director of Aerobics, Yoga & More (AYM Fitness), a Corporate Wellness firm that provides certified and licensed instructors and health care providers to companies, medical facilities, schools and religious institutions for fitness classes and health education. Clients include PNC, Cigna, United Way, Oglethorpe Power, Georgia Transmission Corporation, and University of Tennessee.

Reggae former PUSA Hays Eagles
Hi,
I may have figured out how to post pictures on the blog.  I went shopping got three bags of rock salt (a rare commodity these day) and a cheap TV, Preferred IT Solutions installed my new phone system Thursday, my hat's off to John and his crew.  They got my phone bill cut in half and quadrupled my internet speed and best of all I figured out how I will be able to again play my Reggae in the mansion.  So I had to get a smart TV and found this for $100:
Tumblr media
Yea it worked.  :)
Business seems to be picking up.  I was sold out for Valentine's Day and almost sold out this past weekend.  I've even been picking up some weekday business.  Room sales (not room revenue) is going to be very good for a February (with my covid special-revenue is mediocre but that's better than many of my fellow small businesses and I am grateful for that.  A lot of my reservations are again  coming through my hated Expedia Group that charge me a 15% commission and I'm converting my new guests to booking directly through my website instead of from Expedia.  I've had several already book repeat visits from my website.
Recently came back from 2 weeks in Florida, darn I needed that.  Split the first week between my friend Jeff that owns The Inn on the Mexican War Streets in St Pete and my brother and his family in Tampa.  Then second week I spend in Lake Worth where I used to live.  Saw a bunch of old friends and ate my fill of Spanish street food.  Came back to this nasty cold weather and snow.  My electric Snow Joe does such a great job when the snow is cold and dry.  It's light and easy to maneuver.  I can do the 140' side walk and parking lot in about 2 hours instead of all day with a shovel.  If you are looking for an affordable snow blower that generally works great checkout the Snow Joe.
Thank god that idiot is out of the White House.  He's left such a mess for poor President Biden to clean up. One of the big things he ignored was this pandemic.  I think the cold blooded bast*** did on purpose to "cull" the dependents on society that aren't multimillionaires.  Get rid of the old people that collect SS and subsidized housing and the poor people.
The best part of his demise, two on my radar, all the companies severing ties to the Trump organization best of all Deutsche Bank has said when his loans are up they will not renew or renegotiate a $400M loan.  So he's going to have to go out and find other lenders and everyone has seen how he operates and I don't think a bank is going to be stupid and buy his bluster, so his terms won't be as favorable as in the past.  And he won't be able to use our Justice system (whom he despises and maligns like our Intelligence agencies) for free and will have to hire lawyers to defend himself from all the civil and criminal law suites.  He may actually go belly up.  :)  :)  :) :)   Mitch Mitch McConnell even suggested that people bring civil and criminal suites against him, damn did that invoke a nasty tweet from DJT.  He did not go out with grace, his legacy will be the first president impeached twice and the first to incite an insurrection.  I never liked the man and you even could say despised him as our PUSA.  In case I haven't said before I worked for him (actually his first bought bride Ivana) at Trump Towers in Atlantic City for a year and knew the small business owner (Nicolas Jacobsen) in West Palm Beach he refused to pay the $33,977 for three chandeliers he installed in Mar-a-Lago ballroom in 2005.  And here we are in 2021 and Mr. Jacobsen is now filing a defamation lawsuit against Trump for $1M.
The Problem with America isn't a racial issue.  We are all fed up with the lies and deceit coming from our elected officials or their appointed persons.  The double talk out of them is so infuriating.  Big and small issues, you can't believe anything they say,  And we all know they are lying to us.  Water quality is a blatant example of this.  Flint MI bureaucrats lied for years about lead in their water system and then PGH water authority did the same.  Until the feds came in and called them up on it.  DJT really hit the nail on the head with this, maybe he's not as stupid as I think he is. His constant whining about the fake news really hit home with many people.  Instead of focusing on all the "fake news" out there he only zeroed in on news against him.
While I'm whining, I went to Penn State and was fed up with the ivory tower mentality of the administration way back then.  When the Jerry Sandusky scandal broke and the then president Graham Spanier did all the double talk and back tracking "he didn't know anything" the l lost all respect for PSU's administration.  And Spanier continued to receive his pay, even though he was accused of criminal behavior.  Shouldn't universities set an example of how things should be run?
Speaking of higher education, I like what Robert Morris University is doing.  They have teamed up with local community colleges where you can enroll at the community college and get direct credits much more affordable than RMU's cost.  A nice alternative if you have anyone thinking of pursuing a college degree. I know they already have an agreement with Beaver County Community College and believe they are working on an agreement with Community College of Allegheny.
Have you been watching the Hay's Eagle nest on the web cam?  They now have 3 eggs.  The other day, some stupid racoon climbed the tree to get at the eggs, mom would have nothing to do with it, she really got upset and showed him who's boss before dad showed up as back up.  It was pretty funny.
Celine Dion is scheduled to perform at PPG Paints Arena September 24, get your tickets because she's sure to sell out and be sure to book at The Parador.  Remember it's a five minute walk from my Inn to the "T" (our light rail system) and then a five minute walk to the Arena from the Steel Plaza station and the "T"'s free.  No hassles driving, parking or if you imbibe concerns about a DUI.  Book soon here if you want a one night visit, when I start selling out, I will bump it up to a two night minimum.  :)
Speaking of concerts, Kenney Chesney will be at Heinz Field June 12 and I still have 2 rooms left.  Def Leppard, Mtley Crue  Joan Jett will be at PNC Park July 22 and I still have some rooms left.
Well, I'm tired and going to sign off, I should have my Reggae set up by Thursday, waiting on a part.  That might motivate me to do another blog this coming weekend.  Take care, keep warm, stay safe and say hi to a neighbor,
ed

Minnesota Twins-Pittsburgh Pirates Series Preview
4.1.18-Lance Lynn RHP (0-0) 1.29 ERA Vs. Jameson Taillon RHP (1-0) 2.13 ERA (2018 Spring Training Stats)
4.3.18-Jake Odorizzi RHP (0-0) 0.00 ERA Vs. Ivan Nova RHP (0-0) 3.60 ERA (2018 Regular Season Stats)
The Twins At A Glance- The Twins are coming off a nice series win against the Baltimore Orioles to open the season. All three starting pitchers threw at-least six innings and allowed no runs. The starting staff has a scoreless streak of 21 innings so far. Brian Dozier led the offense with five hits and had a .357 average in the series with two homers. Joe Mauer had four hits and is ten away from 2,000 career hits. The Twins hit seven home runs in the last two games of the series, which were all solo shots. Paul Molitor got all his hitters some action this weekend so they stay fresh for this week. The starting pitching looked great as Jake Odorizzi, Kyle Gibson, and Jose Berrios didn’t allow a run. I think Lance Lynn might be the better of the four starters right now and he starts on Monday. Tyler Kinley and Taylor Rogers have yet to get an appearance out of the bullpen this year. I’m guessing Paul will get Rogers work Monday or Wednesday, but Kinley is a Rule V guy and his outings will be rare.
The Pirates At A Glance- The Pirates had a weird weekend in Detroit. Opening Day was rained out on Thursday, so they played on Friday in a long game. The game went to extras and the Tigers had it won, but a questionable review kept the game going. The Pirates won that game then got rained out Sunday. The Bucs then won both games of a doubleheader on Sunday to improve to (3-0). Pittsburgh now heads home very late after somehow beating the weather and the Tigers all weekend. Josh Bell had a great series and hit 6-for-13 (.462) with three RBI’s. Josh Harrison hit .357 with a homer and knocked in two. Trevor Williams gave them a good start in Game 1 with six shutout innings. Ivan Nova and Chad Kuhl each went five innings or so and had so-so starts. The closer Felipe Rivero gave up four runs on Friday then saved both games on Sunday. I’m not sure if he’ll be available for Monday’s game. The Pirates will be in rebuild mode after trading Gerrit Cole and Andrew McCutchen this winter. They still have a few players and with Clint Hurdle and Ray Searage leading the way they might be in contention for a bit.
What To Watch For- The Twins lead the all-time series (16-12). The last time the two teams met was in 2015 when the road team won two games apiece. There was a five-year stretch (1997-2001) where the two teams met every year in early-interleague, but now it’s been every three years since. I was at PNC Park last year and it is a must-see for baseball fans. The ballpark is right on the river and there are plenty of new bars and stuff outside. It’s a great place to walk around and enjoy the weather. Lance Lynn is (7-7) with a 5.10 ERA in 23 career games against the Pirates. He has a .085 average with 23 career hits. Josh Harrison has two career homers off Lynn. Ivan Nova is (2-0) with a 1.93 ERA in three games against the Twins. Zach Duke has a career 0.96 ERA in 18 2/3 innings against the team that drafted him. Miguel Sano has one career homer off Felipe Rivero when he was a National in 2016. It should be a fun series and the Pirates fans will be out in full force on Monday for the home opener. The weather looks like we’ll get in both games as well!

#personal
This is week two.  To be fair, I woke up in a fairly horrible mood.  My final paycheck was not what I had expected it to be.  There’s not a lot that I can expect in terms of transparency these days.  Still don’t even have final paystubs to work with.  So I have to always improvise.  The last week has been a wake up call as to who I can rely on.  In absolutely catastrophic times like these, it is only me.  I definitely feel like my entire life has been disrupted.  At the same time, no one cares enough in real life to ask or reach out.  People are scared.  Embarrassed.  Maybe too overloaded with their own problems.  I’ve been scrambling to move money around to make sure bills are paid through August just in case.  Every day there seems to be a promise of a new lump sum but no solid date in sight.  I spent yesterday biking to the bank to fix an error in a transfer.  I sent money to my credit union to pay a bill ahead of schedule and the bank somehow reversed it.  Taking the money out instead of putting it in.  It may well have been my own mistake.  I withdrew money and went to deposit it at an atm to fix it quickly.  Every PNC bank that accepts deposits for my credit union no longer does.  So there was absolutely no place to fix the error myself.  I spent more time at the bank and on the phone getting suggestions on how to fix it.  In the end, I got dinged thirty two dollars but rectified it with both parties by handling it myself.  I also spoke a bit with a banker about the future in terms of checking accounts and investments.  This morning I woke up to a message from TIAA that a small windfall went from process to payment in that same account.  They sent that at one thirty in the morning.  The overwhelming message here being that throughout the process people were still working with me.  I felt embarrassed and vulnerable.  And this is week two.  And this is still all easier to navigate than the unemployment system.  I am not unemployed.  I’m self employed.  Technically I’m on severance though I am in a limbo of sorts.  It’s all not very clear.  Also I don’t even have a state id or driver’s license to claim that at the moment anyway.  Only a passport that expires in 2021.  I do have enough money to lock myself down for a long while.  And as horrible as yesterday was to deal with on my own, I learned I have far more options than I realize.  And also that working any harder for more money right now is unhealthy.  Even the printer that was on it’s way from Dell to print my resume is delayed until August 15th.  Too bad everything is online anyway.
And then there’s the state of things in this world.  Yes, my health insurance expires in October.  Yes, I have the money to pay COBRA.  Yes, that’s expensive.  Yes, there’s a lot of taxes that the government is getting from me this year.  And yes, Mitch McConnell probably would use me as the poster boy for pension denial.  The free nest mini that YouTube sent was reading the news headlines the other day.  One of which that DeutschBank was being sued for it’s ties financially to Jeffrey Epstein.  The other big one in Chicago is longtime speaker Madigan tied to a scandal with ComEd regarding bribes.  All this money is invested and stored in these great financial institutions.  Come twenty years after how many ever lawsuits and scandals, will my pension be safe?  Will I even be alive?  People made decisions in the short term to secure their long term survival.  I was not part of that survival so I am on my own.  The process is pretty clear to me.  And thus, with some heavy penalties I decided to completely decouple and divest from twenty years of my life of constant employment.  I don’t lose sleep at night.  I don’t worry about how I feel about China.  I don’t worry about who I am sexually attracted to and why.  I don’t even worry about anything beyond August other than keeping myself alive, happy and healthy.  And this has grown out of two weeks of experiencing the world and my country.  Shit is fucked up.  Nobody wants to admit it.  Things will crumble.  I’ll still be out there in the bike lane trying to get my shit together before everything seizes up.  And the police will still park in that bike lane to openly intimidate me.  You can’t even get more than one roll of quarters at a time from the bank now.  And imagine if I had to deal with this and still bite my nails about where my next paycheck comes from.  My next paycheck comes from me.  I spent years working on music, my identity, and being a good person.  I was brainwashed into thinking that was not enough.  Now I am the only person I can rely on.  It’s strange.  Harsh.  Emotional.  But there’s no real breakdown.  And what I see from my perspective and optics is not what the world sees.  And in times like this, how you handle yourself says it all.  When the world is flailing and failing every step of the way.  My feet don’t waver.  And my instincts aren’t held back.  It’s a pretty fucking feral time for me.  Although I really haven’t changed much.  I don’t have any time to apologize really.  Because I’m owed way more than you can imagine.  On paper.
I do these weekly because it is part of my regimen.  Staying healthy and connected during times of extreme isolation is imperative.  The reality that we may go back into lockdown is going to fuck with a lot of people’s mental state.  Things are shaky for me right now for sure.  But not in a way that threatens the roof over my head or my high speed connection to the internet.  A lot of people want to jeopardize that from the outside without ever walking a mile in my shoes.  People see it now.  See just how long it’s been going on.  How many lies people told about me to make me stumble.  How many people out there are projecting openly and why.  All the trainees at the police academy who make it a point to park another squad day after day in the bike lane on my route to downtown.  People are obstinate, angry, disorganized and irritable.  And it will only get worse until it implodes.  They don’t stop and reflect.  They don’t understand their place in the ecosystem.  They don’t love thy neighbor.  They preach it.  But it’s more of a way to keep other people in check.  It’s also from the Bible.  Matthew for the record.  I’m not Christian.  I accept all religions.  I quote the Quran as much as I’d quote the Bible.  In an election year, politicians like Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio ignite and manipulate voters about Hong Kong over the same type of rhetoric.  China returns the favor by sanctioning both of them.  It’s great theatre.  But I live in a city that has revealed to me a painful truth.  It’s got nothing to do with politics or sentiment.  It’s all about money.  How much you have.  How stable it is.  And how connected to the swamp that will drain over time due to the laws of physics.  People built their fortunes on pyramids that will not weather the storm.  The storm is just out there.  If you’ve ever biked in a city all season you know how it feels to bike against the wind chill across a bridge.  I doubt any of your politicians who were elected on huge piles of cash ever felt that connection to nature.  I have.  I’ve lived.  I’ve survived.  And I keep looking sexier doing it every day.  And I don’t have to cry about it.  I don’t have to command everyone’s attention.  I don’t have to say anything.  It moves within me.  Fear does at times too.  Which is why I plan and take action.  I set goals for myself.  I don’t rely on validation much.  I rely on myself.  I think maybe deep down I’m beginning to show you that more than I ever could in the past.  It’s not easy.  But I’m not angry.  Not anymore.  I do think it’s all kind of funny.  And I do still remember how to smile.  I smile a lot when I think about you.  If you think about me make sure not to worry.  I’ll be alright.  Stay fine and stay safe.  <3 Tim
