The sincerity and sorrow in his voice meant a lot to Cadance and the two Young Princesses, but Luna and Celestia knew that Shining was merely using it as a facade to hide his fear, and when he pulled them closer for a tighter embrace, they could feel their hearts ache; but Shining knew he could not embrace his Family forever, and to his dismay, he was forced to let go of them not long thereafter.

After Shining wiped clean his tear-stained face, he helped his Daughters and his dearest beloved to dry their tears, before he sweetly offered to give Flurry and Twila a lift on his back to the aura, where they could wave each other goodbye; and to his relief, the Young Princesses happily accepted, and they swiftly jumped onto his back, but Shining did not even notice, as if they weighed nothing.

Packed and fully protected from anything that could be thrown at him, Shining slowly turned around, and solemnly told their friends in the Great Hall that they were welcome to join them, but he would not fault them if they stayed; but to his pleasant surprise, not a single being remained seated, as Eclipse and Spike, Star and Amethyst, Sunburst and Starlight, and even Frost all rose to join them.

It was clear that Shining never expected that everyone would be willing to accompany them, but when Eclipse walked up to him, Twilight whispered that he should not be so shocked, before they gestured for him to lead them to the border; and after Shining shook his head, he said that they were right, as he would not want the others to wait for him much longer, which startled the Two-Headed Alicorn.

As Shining walked to the doors to head outside, always keeping a close eye on his two Daughters, he politely asked a worried Eclipse if they could help Cadance out with looking after Flurry and Twila while he was away from here; but Eclipse did not answer his request, and instead, after he repeated himself a moment later, they quickly agreed, and quietly asked him who 'the others' were in return.

Fortunately, when Shining realised what he said, he managed to stay calm, and he politely told them that he meant the Guards at the Outpost, of course, whom had been waiting there for an awfully long time already, and it was time to head there to help them; and he loudly told himself that he had to remember to arrange another shipment of supplies, trying to cover for his mistake as best he could.

To the others' relief, Cadance believed Shining at his word, and she merely looked at him in wonder and awe, overjoyed to have met and married such a helpful, honourable, and honest Stallion; but out of all these qualities, Shining was breaking the latter, as he, and the Princesses with whom he was conspiring, were lying to Cadance for her own good, despite feeling terrible over the mere thought.

But although Eclipse smiled in return, and encouraged Shining to make haste to head to the Outpost, Celestia discreetly whispered to them that their friends were not ready yet, and they were not able to bring Shining to the Dragon Lands yet; but they could not make Shining wait for them, either, so the best thing they could do for them all was to warn Shining, and to tell him it may take a while.

While Celestia and Eclipse discreetly spoke with one another, miraculously without Cadance noticing their conversation, Luna frequently reached out to Nox to ask her for an update, to which she often received little more than a request for patience in return; but eventually, just as the whole group in the Empire stepped into the grassy fields, just as they silently passed the Mirror, she stopped.

A small and warm smile grew upon Luna's face as she put her hoof to her chest, and listened closely as her Daughter let her know that they were finally close to an unremarkable area, which Ember said was a neutral area; but they had to be careful, as only half of their group was able to fly towards it, while Light, Boom, and Courage either had to travel by hoof or paw, or had to be carried there.

Almost in tears to know that Nox and their mutual friends were close to safety, Luna told her:

"Do what you must, but I beg you to stay safe, and to take no unneeded risks…"

The only thing that Nox heard from her Mother before she said goodbye for now was a brief and quiet chuckle, which brought a bright blush to her face that she could not hide from the others, while in the Empire, Luna turned her attention to Cadance, who was putting together the scraps of paper; and when she had restored the letter, with quivering hooves, she found that Shining had safely arrived.

In the same sentence as the news that allowed her to let out an immense sigh of relief, Shining had written an apology to her for taking so long, claiming that the fierce wind and biting cold pierced through all of his protective gear, and drastically delayed his progress; but as soon as he managed to scale the Mountains, he wrote to her on the scroll he had brought along, which was frozen solid.

In any case, Shining concluded in his letter, he dearly hopes that his letter arrives in one piece, and even if not, that she, their Daughters, and everybody else who is keeping them company is doing well; and he looked forward to returning home, but he had to spend time here before he could figure out what the issue was, as he was drained, hungry, in desperate need of a shower, and missing them.

As her eyes swiftly welled up with tears, Cadance smiled warmly as she held his letter close to her chest, and sweetly said that she knew for certain that the letter was sent by Shining, as he always managed to focus on the littlest problems that could be solved easily; for he barely uttered a word about his journey, and focused on what would make her chuckle, save for being away from his Family.

But no sooner had she mentioned Shining's ability to make her smile and laugh, even in tough times, than tears started streaming down her cheeks, whereafter she dropped the letter, and put her hooves on her face to cry; and Celestia gently embraced her Niece in her wings, joined a mere moment later by Eclipse, while Luna merely squeezed Frost's claws, and quietly grabbed their tea with her magic.

Meanwhile, as they drank their tea, and waited patiently for Cadance to let out her emotions, Spike got up from the couch, and quietly whispered something into Eclipse's ears before he headed towards the kitchen; and in turn, Eclipse softly told Cadance that it was clever that she got some rest, as it had been a long and exhausting day for everybody, and she needed all the energy she could spare.

Then, as they got up from the couch, Eclipse kindly said that they would bring her to bed, and make something sweet to eat for her and her Daughters, whereafter they hoped they could fall asleep with calm and quiet minds; and fortunately, after a moment of silence, Cadance wiped clean her face, let Flurry and Twila crawl onto her back, and after they waved goodbye to the others, went to her room.

After they closed the doors to the Great Hall, and Cadance, Flurry, and Twila could neither see nor hear what the others were up to, Luna got up to follow her Sister to the kitchen, when she stopped, and asked Frost to join her, as she had an idea with which she could help them; but she promised it was not nearly as important as before, as she just wanted to ask her to try and speed something up.

Although she grew incredibly confused at the spontaneity of her request, Frost got up to follow the Royal Sisters to the kitchen, where they found that Spike was already putting together a variety of snacks, breads, and toppings, only pausing for a moment to smile at the three who just entered; but when they asked him if they could help him with anything, Spike briefly shook his head in response.

Only then did he take a moment to take a deep breath, before he told them that he was almost ready, and there was little more to do than to bring the platter upstairs to the Crystal Royals, which was something he wished to avoid, just in case; but when Celestia picked up the tray, Luna asked her to wait, before she grabbed a carton of milk out of the fridge, as well as some cocoa from a cupboard.

After Luna threw everything into a bowl and started to mix, she asked Frost with a nervous chuckle:

"Could you… cool the mixture? We believe that ice cream would help calm down the Princesses…"

Dear Diary, Today, Princess Twila had to go to another planet for a diplomatic meeting. Romeian was forced to go (because he's Twila's body guard), but she invited me too! I couldn't say "No"! Going to another planet is so exciting! After a long day of meeting up with the the diplomats, they said we could enjoy ourselves at the beach! While Venestrios has a beach, it isn't as nice as this one! Romeian looked very happy, which isn't a rarity, but he seemed like he was enjoying himself. He said that the beach reminded him of something called "Summer". He said it's a time of year on Earth where it is very warm, and a lot of people go to the beach to cool off. Twila says she hates the ocean, but I think she's a liar. She also seemed to enjoy herself! I enjoyed myself too! Note to self, ocean water is not drinkable. Way too salty. I took this polaroid to commemorate the moment. Moments before, Twila had dunked Romeian under the water, which is why he's wet. He pushed her into the water too, but that was after this photo was taken. I hope to come back here someday, it was delightful! Until my next adventure, Regina<3
