Silence. Sheer unbearable silence. For near a month now you had not gotten a single reply from Richard. Something you greatly needed as work had picked up again and even with Lee there trying to be best friends again you had to tolerate Jordan and his friends lingering around all night you couldn’t get a single moments rest until you got back to the den of family abandonment. The solace you once got from your band of French transfer student had just shifted into an endless bout of suggestions that you should give Lee another chance when he was so clearly into you.

That thought seemed to be all too easy, just luring Lee back into another bout of dating when you knew he could be so easily led astray again. But then again that had been your same painful pattern. The few dates you had in Texas, Lee, and now Richard. The saying is ‘Always a Bridesmaid, never the Bride.’ Well, for you it had been more like being the second Wife who’s husband is on the way to his third.

The end of February was nearing and you were eager to just get this month over with. By the painfully specific voicemail you had received while at work, a long stretch of shows in London and one night out afterwards too many and Tiffany had weaseled herself through the crowds to get him so shit faced drunk to get him into bed. With the distance and the fact you had told him you could consider it a break while you were apart, knowing he’d had casual relationships before, assuming that if you gave the green light this time it wouldn’t hurt.

Worst decision ever, but, you knew she would try again. You could see the signs miles away, first with Jordan and now with Tiffany, blaring tornado warnings from the first mention or sight of them as you got to meet the pair now known excruciatingly as exes. For all the promises and wishes for the future it seemed you were now moving to London alone and could now add the Green Pearl to the list of places you no longer go to in hopes of avoiding the brothers you truly loved and hoped to have in your life forever.

That garbled jumble of words recorded on your phone you couldn’t help but keep listening to just to hear Richard’s voice once again, had spelled it out clearly, “I don’t deserve you.” … “Don’t worry. You won’t hear from me again.” Then the dreadful click that ruined your life, stirring up a seemingly endless bout of tears and long lonely nights curled around your pillows dreading always being ‘too good’ for all the guys you had dated. Just once you wanted to be enough, you wouldn’t mind being settled for, as long as it meant you didn’t feel this pain anymore.

A ring from your phone tore you from your miserable bout of staring sleeplessly out at the stars from your counter with the empty bowl from your mac ‘n’ dogs meal between school and work. Hastily you sniffled and wiped your cheeks on your shoulders grabbing your phone you opened and hit talk feeling another sting at the UK calling code, “Hello?”

Chris’ voice sounded through the line in a pained and slightly panicked tone, “Jaqi, please don’t hang up.”

Shifting on the counter you set your bowl into the sudsy sink to soak, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong, per se, Richard’s been an idiot and he’s terrible and I know you’re probably pissed at him…”

“I told him he could see other people while we were apart. He likes casual flings, so-,”

“You are not casual! Now, I know what he said, he’s given me so many play by plays, just, a few more days, week tops, I’ll get him to email you if I have to tape him down.”

“If he doesn’t want to talk to me-.”

“He does! Trust me! He does! Won’t stop kicking himself and moping about to torture himself and you, hell, I can’t imagine how bad he’s hurt you by not just talking to you. Please just give me a bit of time, we keep pressing it and he’ll crack.” With a sigh you felt another tear roll down your cheek as a crash was heard making him groan and say, “Bloody Charles, all damn thumbs. Anyways, I love you Sis, please just bear in there a bit longer. He loves you too, he’s just too busy being an idiot right now to act on it. Just a bit more time, Please.” When he hung up you were back in tears again curled up against your bent legs sobbing until your alarm sounded and you went to wash your face, pull on your jacket and head off to work.

Work seemed endless but at least it was the weekend and you could once again slip away for just a little while. Today you managed to find yourself in Central Park Zoo. Somehow it always seemed to calm you down, so far from your apartment and everything you assumed you had escaped only to hear the soul crushing sound of Jordan’s voice. A stolen glance back confirmed him hand his friends were here and headed straight for you, even without Lee around he seemed to haunt your every step. Though a british accent split through your swirling void of pain. “Gorgeous!”

On your right you couldn’t help but smile up at the brown eyed, curly haired brunette standing with his hands in his pockets smirking down at you, “Fancy seeing you here.”

He chuckled pulling the torn card out of his pocket you had given him your number on, “Just debating when to call you. In town for a couple days.”

“Really?”

He nodded, “Few friends and I got these tickets for a Broadway show, made a weekend holiday of it. You’re here alone?”

You nodded, “Just got off work. Needed to unwind.” In the distance you could hear your name being mentioned with a few inquiries as to who you were talking to.

“Care to join us then?”

As his hopeful grin spread you giggled then answered, “Sounds like fun.” Stepping back he guided you towards his group as you mentally screamed at yourself for using this apparently sweet guy as a life raft to escape the group pitifully stalking you as you greeted the gaggle of brits, mainly comprised of couples, further explaining why he might have flagged you down again.

“Guys, this is Jaqi.”

Smiles spread on their faces as they led you to the next exhibit sharing how he’d told them about you making him burst back in saying, “And you all said I made her up. Purple eyes, impossible!” He scoffed back at them.

Sheepish chuckles came from them making you giggle and bump your arm against his, “It’s alright. I get it a lot.”

He chuckled and stole a chance at the passing of a group of strollers to rest his arm around your back and close the distance stirring up a ripple of comments from the group. You stole a glance at before turning back to the lion pit at the brits were laughing at when the lion got pounced on by his cubs and let out a fake roar of pain. After that moment you stopped glancing back at the other group, focusing on the brit who had eased his fingers between yours and asked you along to the film they were going to see.

On your path into the theater you listened as the couples called their areas making you smirk curiously as Orlando folded his free hand around yours saying, “We get the best spot then.” Grinning at his friends he led you towards the steps up to the back corner in the two seats behind the rails over the entering hall, where he managed to raise the arm rest between you and sneak his arm around your back as you sat down. In the light of the previews you caught Jordan’s group entering and searching the room for the best spot for both spying on you and Orlando. Though the notion of being watched for this whole 2 hour film did nothing to calm your irritation at just what film the group had chosen, after seeing the musical on Broadway they had chosen, Les Misérables.

Overall you had a few favored songs, and with the right cast no doubt it could be bearable for you but there was just something that seemed dull about it and the notion of having to sit through a dramatized non musical version of it, let’s just say you hoped it would rain, hard. Hard enough for the power to go out and they would have to evacuate the building, you would rather face the flooding subway back home that sit through this film. But to escape Jordan and keep the adorable smile on the face of the chocolate eyed bombshell on your left you would endure it, hoping that the splitting up of couples meant your assumptions would be true. Swollen lips and the awkwardness of making out with an attractive stranger be damned, you would not let Jordan spoil your spur of the moment date.

A few handfuls of popcorn later and you spotted the first of the couples initiating their make out session. Cautiously you took a swig of your soda and subtly smoothed your tongue over your teeth searching for any bits of popcorn that could damage another’s tongue, and in good time too cuz in another not so subtle scoot towards you your hair was brushed behind your ear. In a tilt of your head you caught the darting glance from your lips back up to your eyes and then the movie was over for you.

Damn you missed kissing, not that you’d had a lot of practice past Lee and Richard, but your fortunate fall into this muddled mess with this pouty lipped stranger wasn’t all bad and you swore you wouldn’t hate yourself for this later, a lie you knew you just had to tell yourself. What you had guessed to be filled with sneaking hands and lewd whispers in your ear stayed heated but overall respectful.

With only a move to rest your legs over his, possibly to help hide the growing arousal under his jeans from the people down the row from you. Almost the full film his lips stayed fixed on yours between lulling glides of his fingertips around your neck and chin while his other hand remained fixed on your back helping to keep you upright against his side. A stolen brush of your fingers under his jaw drew a muffled hum against your lips, and the drop of your hand to your lap again signaled a teasing nip at your lips from him. As his legs shifted it caused your hand to slide onto his lap right over the pulsing muscle forcing him to plant his lips on yours again trying to hold back his reaction to it.

He barely stayed a few more minutes, until a set of gunfire began and the stolen brush of fingers along his crotch made him pull back through a poorly garbled moan against your lips. Hastily he leaned over you snatching your half full drink then blurted out, “Refill.” Pecking you on the lips in his practical jump up and trot down the stairs.

Leaning back in your seat you shook your head and curled your fingers over your lips propping your feet up trying not to giggle at either his avoiding what he expected to be a hand job or to handle his coming in his pants. In a glance to your left you grabbed the abandoned popcorn for another handful. Hoping to distract yourself as you stared up at the battle playing on screen. Ignoring the stolen glances of Jordan and his friends until Orlando and his wide grin trotted back up the steps and eased into his seat with your new drink, with a pink cup instead of your former green one and a box of your favorite candy. “So, they apparently don’t refill the green cups, but the guy recognized me from earlier by you so he just swapped the cups and added more, and said you didn’t get your usual candy. You come here often?”

You nodded tilting your head to peer up at him as he opened the box for you and poured some into your palm before pouring a few straight into his mouth making you smirk, “Least once a week.”

He chewed his candy watching as you ate yours a couple at a time then asked after he swallowed, “You’re friends with him?”

You tilted your head spotting a hint of jealousy in his eyes and shook your head, “No, we live in the same building. I save him the best washer on Fridays and he slides me some extra snacks on his discount.” Making him smirk then tilt the box giving you more after pouring more into his mouth.

A glance at the screen stirred a surprisingly irritated grumble from him before he swallowed and leaned in to whisper, “I don’t know why but I just never got into this musical. I’m usually a sucker for them, this one-,” he shook his head and you giggled under your breath making him look at you again with a confused smirk.

“At least I’m not the only one.” Nipping at his lip he scooted closer to you easing his arm around your back another grumble left him as he sunk a bit lower on his seat and furrowed his brows at the screen making you giggle again drawing his attention to you.

Your sudden kiss took him by surprise, but to escape the film his lips melted against yours again returning to your same amorous escape almost instantly making him hard again stirring a giggle from you at his irritated grumble against your lips. But keeping the escaping going you were shifted again flush against his side easing your hand against his neck until the sound of the first credit song began urging him to steal one last peck on your lips before helping you to your feet and guiding you down the steps. Quietly you listened to his friends around you hearing of their plans to head back to their hotel for an early night for their flight home the next day.

Outside their hotel on the way to the subway you waved goodbye to the group as Orlando gave you a regret filled puppy dog stare, “It is a pity I didn’t have the nerve to call you yesterday.”

You shook your head, “It works out how it does. I hope you have a safe flight back.”

He grinned again looking you over as if trying to memorize you in case of never seeing you again, “I do hope we run into one another when you’re back in England.”

With a weak giggle you rose up stealing one last kiss then walked around him making him turn to watch you in your backwards steps before your turn, “Perhaps. If not, you have my number. Have a cuppa for me when you land, it’s so dreadful out here on the selections.”

He chuckled and nodded as you turned away again giggling, “I will.” Stealing one last glimpse of you and your bounding curls swaying around you before you rounded the corner and he went inside. In the sting of another cold breeze you found the entrance and trotted down the steps sniffling at the inevitable sting of the lovely evening you were certain would remain just that. Yes he had your number, but you knew he would never call.

At least it was Saturday, you grumbled on your longer shift at work through the day, unwilling to think up what the lonely night would stir up with you alone in your apartment. The entire shift you were certain Jordan had shared the news of your date keeping your friend at an awkward distance until you were free of Jordan in the break room for lunch where Lee sat in the seat beside you opening his lunch bag as you opened yours.

“I thought you hated Les Misérables.”

Without looking up you unfolded the wrap around your sandwich, “I didn’t pick the film.” He nodded and you added flatly, “His name is Orlando.”

Lee’s eyes narrowed and he asked, “Where’d you meet?”

“Back in London on winter break.”

“He flew out here to see you?”

You shook your head, “Nope. Him and his friends got tickets for Broadway, they flew home today.”

“So, you just meet up and make out for two hours?”

“We didn’t plan it. I was at the zoo, happened to be there. Besides,” you let out a sigh, “I miss just making out.”

“Then make out with me.” You turned your head to face him with a brow raised, “Fuck Jordan.”

“No thank you.”

He nudged your arm, “I was an idiot. I’ve missed you terribly and have been trying to, find a way to ask you out again.”

With a sigh you heard Jordan calling for Lee outside the hall leading into the back room, “Why do I sense a case of d��jà vu coming on?”

He shook his head, “It’s not going to be like last time.”

Nodding your head you wet your lips then ensured you were alone in the room then said, “You know what, since I’m graduating anyways, it’s casual, no labels. We can make out, possibly hook up,” his lips parted and you cut him off to add, “Just know, the minute you touch him again it’s over. I am not kicking that beehive again.”

“Why would you want that? Casual I mean.”

It’s simpler in putting off the inevitable second break up, besides, this way I have someone to make out with and you can finally get that blow job you desperately need.”

“I-, what?” His cheeks heated up in a blush.

“You, for the uncertainty of whoever you’re attracted to, you gotta get past this fear of yours to nudge it further. Jordan is an ass, why you were so scared to go farther with me I don’t know, but if you had to choose between the two of us for crossing that line, to be completely narcissistic I am a catch and you made a serious plummet down.”

His smile grew and he nodded, “Ya. Especially with his latest ego trips with the other dancers.”

“Ya, especially Chloe, dropping her like that on purpose. He could have hurt her.”

Lee nodded, “I don’t know, he just, he’s the first guy to be all interested in me.”

You nodded, and caught his sheepish glance, “You really don’t think I don’t get that. The whole, ‘He’s the first one to look my way,’ thing. I lived in that zone back in Texas. You are far from the first into being flattered into dating some asshole. You are among the idiots who keep leading him on worsening your own life.”

He nodded raising his sandwich, “True.” Taking a bite and chewed, tucked the food in his cheek to ask, “What am I supposed to do about him then? He won’t leave me alone.”

“Ignore him. No matter what. Don’t take his calls, messages, notes, carrier pigeons, no matter what he does. Tell your parents he’s not allowed in the house and you’re not friends anymore. It’s gonna suck and he’s gonna get worse but you gotta put that foot of yours down or he’s gonna keep thinking you’re his and he can keep pushing until you cave. Cuz he’s assuming you will. Unless you want to be at his beck and call for the next two or three years.”

He sighed, “I have to tell my parents?”

You nodded, “You’re the one that watered the mogwai, lover boy.”

Peering at you while you ate he took a bite of his own after saying, “Fine, casual, we can do casual.” Slowly regretting those words as he began to chew his own now tasteless sandwich realizing just how badly he’d hurt you finally, all to the point of not getting another chance to fully be your boyfriend, possibly ever.

For all his regret at losing the full title Lee settled giddily back into the same solace of a sane relationship with the teen he knew now he had not so subtly fallen for. Each day through school clinging to you as usual completely avoiding the now fuming Jordan growing more boisterous by the day at the fury coursing in him at Lee’s ignoring him.

Though where Lee’s resolve was wearing thin by the end of the first week Jordan’s third purposeful dropping of another dance partner had triggered a chain reaction he could not stop. For all his boisterous bragging of his so called talent and top notch grooming to be the best, he was deemed a hazard to the other students, called into the office, expelled and banned from the premises. A breath of relief coursed through the whole school without him there to distract from everyone’s reasoning for being there.

Each day, between your calls on progress from Chris you tried your best not to feel so terribly awful at attempting to dull the pain with yet another make out session with Lee. But in the sea of muddled pain once again you were tangled up in a mess of arms and in the easing of your fingers down his navel he forced himself not to flinch this time and failed in holding back his throaty moan against your lips when you first gripped him for a loose stroke.

Barely an inch from his lips you asked, “Did you want a blow job?”

“I-, you don’t, have to.”

Your eyes narrowed playfully as he bit his lip moaning lowly again at your next stroke, “I’m gonna take that as a yes.” A soft gasp left him when his head fell back at your urging to keep yourself from laughing at his exasperated expression.

With an amused grin you covered his groin again with his boxers, then zipped and buttoned his pants before shifting to pull the pillow off his face. Your soft giggle and peck on his cheek made him open his eyes again, “I highly doubt that is the last ever erection you’re going to have in your lifetime Lee.”

A grin eased onto his face and he inched up kissing your cheek back, “I don’t know what to say, thank you?”

You giggled again, “You don’t have to thank me. You do have to help me carry the take out though. Come on, we should eat.” He nodded and climbed to his feet looking you over as you tied your converse on again then stood beside him.

Leaning in he cupped your cheek stealing a fiery kiss, “I’m buying.”

With a playful smirk you said, “If I didn’t know better I’d think you were trying to butter me up for another.”

He narrowed his eyes in return and stole another fiery kiss making you giggle at taking a step back to steady yourself in your lean backwards at his hunch forward, “Come on. And I’m getting you extra egg rolls.”

His hand fixed in yours and you said, “Ooh. How you spoil me.” Making him chuckle and guide you to the door glancing around on his way.

“Did you think about furniture shopping yet?”

In the last shriveling piece of your hope at one day moving in with Richard finally wilted and you nodded, “We can look.”

He grinned, “Good. We can browse around tomorrow.”

Over the next week you spent each day roaming through shops for ideas on new and second hand furniture catching glimpses of the sulking Jordan shadowing your path making Lee only drape around you more. An early Saturday morning brought a new couch and an odd looking cube coffee table you just couldn’t leave in the second hand shop when you first noticed it stirring up an awkward waddling through the subway for the trip you and Lee made carrying the absurd piece of furniture back to your place.

By ten Lee was back at your door with a wide grin, leaning in to kiss you when he laid his eyes on you then pulled back saying, “Ok, let’s see it.”

A giggle left you at his seeming growing amusement in each new piece you added to the apartment, something you didn’t realize he was taking as another piece of proof you were inching back to possibly staying, possibly forgiving him finally to trust him enough to be just his. In his path to get a drink of water you read the latest message from Chris, more of the same, another excuse that Richard was out filming something, but they were still hounding him on getting back in touch with you. Another full day of work with lounging after soon melted into another make out session ending with his sheepish bringing out the bottle of lube you had bought and box of gloves he insisted on you using when the subject had first come up.

If he was going to be honest he was terrified but you were the only one he would ever want his firsts to be with. Again he couldn’t help but chuckle at your grin at his growing harder at your adding the glove, “If this makes you hard I’d be interested to see what happens at your check ups.”

He shook his head nipping at his lip then sat up pulling you into a kiss straddling his lap, “As long as you’re wearing the white coat we can play Doctor any time.” Steadily his moans grew more frequent until his head fell back completely at your finger pressing into him making his eyes roll back when your lips sank around him again at the same time. Timidly his hips would rock allowing you deeper making him moan louder until his final shuddering moan at his climax.

Again and again he would allow you to do more accepting this new wave of experiences he was sharing with you all until he groaned behind the hand covering his mouth as you left him on the curb when you walked into the sex shop. For a few passing moments he stood there in shock, then at the next wave of people passing he quickly darted inside then froze at the flannel clad woman behind the counter with bright purple hair. He forced a quick smile then glanced around and hurried after you on your way to the section of strap ons. Lowly he mumbled, “Can’t we do this somewhere, more-,”

With a grin you kissed his cheek, “Why are you so scared? Trust me, they have the shop because people buy them. If it makes you better I’ll buy a toy for myself and tell them I have a girlfriend.” He drew in a breath and you giggled turning your head at the drag Cher walking out, still in full costume from their clubbing the night before.

“First strap on?”

You smiled and nodded, “Trying to think of the right size to start out with.” You said turning to face the toys while Lee turned bright red trying not to look anywhere but the toys to keep from letting out his nervous laugh that would only make matters worse for him.

On the other side of Cher a drag Dolly Parton leaned on her arm asking her, “First timer?” Cher nodded and Dolly moved closer pointing out one of the boxes, “This was the first one my ex tried with me. Not bad for a one sided affair.”

Cher nodded, “If you’re wanting a dual pleaser they have these,” she walked around Lee to grab one of the boxes in a bright yellow she showed you pointing out all the features, “The bartender at our club just goes nonstop about this one her partner got her. Just go slow on the harness vibrator, it can get a bit intense right off the bat.”

You nodded and by the time ten minutes had rolled around five more plus the man in a bright pink shirt with the store’s logo had joined the conversation and all but smiled when Lee cleared his throat softly on the side and lowly asked Dolly a question about one of their suggestions. With a grin you took your choices up to the counter and giggled at the woman sending you a wink after saying, “Have fun.” Slipping a complimentary bottle of lube in the bag as Lee scanned his eyes over anything but her in his turn to follow you to the door.

“Oh I will.” You said at the door freeing you and Lee out of that unknown bubble of a world he had yet to fully accept for himself to be a part of openly to the whole world.

Episode 3 - “This music video is kinda hot to be quite honest.” - Raffy

I think this may be the end of me. The worst possible thing has happened. We are tribe swapping....I'm the only member of my tribe over here.....its a 5-1-1......oof Can I get an F in chat? Here's to good luck and hope that there is fracture within the 5.

I am kind of glad to be swapped because it means that I am no longer stuck with a losing tribe. But, it seems no one knows how to edit which just sucks because that will surely mean we will lose the challenge. On the plus side, I have Mac and Jay with me. Our alliance will be stronger than ever! However, Mac let slip earlier that he knows a lot more people than he lets on which means I will allow him to choose the target if we go to tribal council as I don't need to accidentally target someone he's friends with. I feel that I can make stronger connections on my current tribe way more easily than with my old tribe.

Keegan/Harley: played atomic didn’t work together we said we are gonna work together this time so hopefully it happens Mac/ Oak tree man: THIS IS THE MAN I SENT PICTURES OF TREES TO IN ATOMIC. He passes my vibe check . Brien: I’ve actually met him and he seems genuinely hyped that we get to play together . Don’t think he’s voting me off soon Rn my biggest concerns on the tribe are Jay and Lukas due to lack of communication. I’m sure they already have connections most people tend to . Despite being hesitant about editing, I think I am actually doing a pretty good job at this! This is probably going to be the best music video I've ever put together. Brien was talking to me earlier about how he thinks this tribe isn't going to be based on tribal lines. That the game would be more dynamic if we play without it. But, here's the thing, I don't believe that. I think we need to get rid of an original Good member since one of those people will come back if we go to tribal. Plus he wanted to get info out of me already on my old tribe like.... we're not that close bro. At least not yet.

Gizmo and Cameron are sneaky sneaks who have been playing all sides and just being chaotic little shits. Our tribe had multiple alliances by like day 2, even before the first challenge results. Slow down there! We ended up coming in second in a challenge but since 2/3 tribes we’re going To tribal we still had to go. Eve was voted out 4-1-1 against Cameron and ME! How dare they?? I think it was Eve who voted me but whatever. And then we swapped into two tribes! And this is basically Nova Scotia 2.0. We’ve got me and Mac and Jessie! We’ll see if that goes anywhere if we lose a challenge. (This rounds is music videos 🤮) So anyways Brien, Lukas and I are sticking together for a bit based on OG tribes, and I’ll see if I can’t get Jessie or Jay (who I just voted out of Atomic oop) to work with us. But that leaves Mac and Raffy in the outs? Who I both enjoy a lot. So, we’ll see what happens. I don’t see myself being a target right away but you never know.

Well, I did not like this challenge at all. I'm a pretty shy person so this was really out of my comfort zone. Unfortunately I wasn't able to film a whole lot due to having to travel this weekend, but! I still at least got something in to show I tried. I may have figured a way to get myself into majority which I really need. I just hope we can get it all sorted out today.

In any case, I am hoping to target either Lukas or Brien. I have talked to Lukas the least which is problematic, and Brien is always on game mode seemingly. He's been talking strategy despite not even going to tribal. That's a potential threat. However, I am going to let other people take the lead for this vote. I just want to focus on socially and strategically positioning myself with people that like me.

Paolo is supposed to be our editor, but he has gone AWOL. I mean...I could offer to edit, but like.....why not let Paolo lose the challenge for us and then vote him out? I also need Liam safe. Hopefully someone flops and they can leave. If my tribe lost, I’m pretty sure I would’ve had the numbers to send Keegan home. I make Brien seem like he’s in control of the vote while working with Jay and Raffy for a 4-3 vote or a 5-2 vote. That difference would be if Jessie was on my side or not.

Sad days. It's my first tribal of the season in the post tribe swap, and I'm not really sure where I've ended up on the tribe. I haven't spoken a word to Alex, and I voted Zach out in a prior game, so I don't know if he'll hold that against me. I like Austin, Gizmo, and Dylan, but we've never had a chance to talk game or work together yet. I'm also nervous that people will target me since I did such a bad job at editing compared to the other team, but who knows. It's gonna be a free for all on my end.

The other tribe, Osbourne, is going to tribal. In our tribe, it’s a 3-3-1 split. On the other tribe, it’s a 5-1-1 split. The 1 person also has the 5 from the other tribe, making all six. That’s worrying. If one of those 5 don’t go home then we may have to throw a challenge or two and make sure the 1 leaves. The only issue, that 1 is Jessie, and I really like them as a person. My new tribe has 3 OG Good; Keegan, Lukas, Brien, as well as 3 Osbourne; myself, Jay and Raffy. Brien is the outlier with Lukas and Keegan being close. Brien fed me useful info of Gizmo being new and close to Lukas and Keegan. On my personal hitlist; is Lukas, Keegan and Austin. I don’t trust those 3 out of the people left in the cast, even despite me and Austin never interacting yet. Austin is sweet but their style gameplay is a lil cutthroat. Pretty much what I’m saying is whoever goes from the opposing tribe is who I target in this tribe when we go to tribal. Either Jessie, or the Keegan/Lukas duo. Keegan definitely voted for Cameron bc he was scared of an idol I’m fairly certain of it but I understand why he did so I’m not mad at him and I think I trust him on this new tribe more then Lukas. But I fear they are a duo and I wanna talk to Jessie and tell her my fears so she knows she can trust me and maybe me her and Keegan can be a group. I wanna work with Jessie bc I know her pregame and met her irl but the only problem is her original tribe has not lost a member and if we don’t vote her out here then the other tribe might stick together and get Alex and Gizmo out before turning on eachother then we could have all of them at a merge which would not be ideal. So I gotta weigh if keeping Jessie as an ally is worth that happening. I had a good convo with Mac Idk where will stand on this new tribe but I wanna work with him bc I think he will always be perceived as more threatening then me. He even bought up the idea of a tengagers alliance with everyone in the game that has a tengaged which is me him Liam Alex and Cameron we will see if all of us are still around come merge time but I’m excited to maybe make that reality once we merge. We both kinda agreed Austin is shady. Keegan Mac and Jessie all just played atomic together which worries me that they will want to stick together on this tribe but I definitely want to work with Mac and I need to make sure he knows it. Atm the person I’m least closest to on my tribe is Jay so if we lose I’d want to try to make a move on him possibly. I wanna work with raffy but he sketches me out in our pms and isn’t willing to give me any info. I fear Keegan and Lukas are too close and I’m a 3rd wheel for them I wanna see if I can enlist macs help to take one of them out maybe Lukas because he talks to me less then Keegan does

I can't believe that I won a music video challenge with my editing skills. I am so proud of that video! I am going to take the time that we are immune to bond more with my tribe. I think I have gotten the best vibes from Keegan and Jessie. Brien is middling. Lukas and I don't really connect that well. I think I am still good with Jay and Mac, so there's no worry on that front. Now that I edited my tribe to victory, they will all probably like me and want to work with me a lot more. There's the benefit of volunteering as editor hehe.

So right now I would definitely consider Mac my number one ally and I wanna keep that lowkey so no one sees us as a duo he suggested throwing the next 2 challenges to get a mix of Jessie, Keegan and Lukas out which is interesting and throwing challenges rarely works but I love going to tribal so Im not gonna say no to it. Plus if it helps gizmo stay in the game on the other tribe longer that’s good. I really like him and want to see him make the merge and then maybe we can work together at the merge Mac really seems to think merge will be at 12 and I’m not too sold on that we could have a swap or not merge at 12 So the way this tribe is it’s me and mad together and he is playing Raffy and jay and I’m playing Lukas and Keegan and idk where Jessie figures into all this but I feel bad that she may have to go simply for numbers sake if one of her original tribe doesn’t go at this tribal. I’m trying my best to be social with everyone and I think I’m a good spot to not go if we go to 2 or even 3 tribals in this tribe that’s another reason I’m not opposed to throwing the challenges. I don’t see a reason jay would trust Keegan after he voted him out in atomic so we may be able to get a 5 person majority against Keegan and Lukas who I made sure Mac knew they were right. Or if we have to we can maybe get a unanimous vote against Jessie. Mac and I made all these grand plans to make the end game and have specific numbers come merge but things never work out the way you plan them so I need to have a plans b through z at the ready and I don’t wanna put all my eggs in the Mac train atm even though I think I convinced him to trust me and he can until I feel I can’t beat him or he is more loyal to someone else *cough cough* Liam they are both hosts together on tengaged I played their game so they are close but mac is certainly trying to downplay it I need Keegan and Lukas to trust me until it’s too late for them. Will I have some remorse going for my original tribe ehh not really in games if I see I better route or a better opportunity I’m gonna take it. I think I’m the real swing vote when we have to go to tribal especially if Keegan really thinks he can get Jessie on our side. So that puts me in an interesting spot a spot where I could be loyal to my OG tribe or I could make a move a change the direction of my game for the better. It’s weird bc I’ll have enemies after I make my choice but I need to make sure the allies I make won’t turn on me after I side with them. Idk the choice I’m gonna make yet I need to weigh out the pros and cons and decide accordingly but one thing is for sure I’ll be in charge at the next vote

I really want to survive this tribal. I think I've gotten myself into a good position. I'm in a 4 person alliance which is majority, but who knows if they're being honest. I'm currently trying to get in with the three other tribe members. If i can position myself as the swing vote I think that would be good for me at least for this vote.

Flirting with Brien is fun. Maybe that'll bring us closer and he'll be my goat hehe. But who can never be sure

Jay brought up in the alliance chat what we are going to do if we have to go to tribal in the future. He's just trying to get out there who would be receptive of working with us (me, Mac, and him). Jay says that he's talked the most with Brien and Lukas. That is strange because I barely talk to Lukas. I probably should get on that. I said I talked the most with Brien and Jessie. I really want to sell them on Jessie so that we can make her work with us which will help us gain a majority on this tribe without stepping on tribal lines. Mac has yet to wake up, so I'm waiting to see what he thinks. It sounds like our alliance might want to work with Brien eventually, but we shall see. I am very hesitant to even mention working with anyone because I do not want to step on toes so early on. Maybe I should try to keep my mouth shut on game talk and work on being social for the time being.

Mac is spilling the hot tea today. He wants to throw the next immunity challenge to take out either Keegan or Lukas. I am in love with this idea as it puts the target on Mac instead of myself since he was the one who said it. I will just let people fight my battles for me until merge to avoid the big target. Apparently, Keegan is a past winner and Lukas is popular in the community. So, if we take them out now, then we can set ourselves up in a power position late down the line. I can see why Mac made POTS. He is definitely a strategic threat and has a very analytical mind. When I backstab him, I need to do it swiftly and effectively. I hoping that Jay follows through with the plan. I believe that we will target Keegan as he has not been the most active in the chats at all. This could make him the easy vote out. I want to include Jessie in on the plan in order to establish a strong connection with her. This is so when we do merge that she won't fall back to her old tribe and will fall back to us.

Grant Hill Q&A: ‘I Wouldn’t be Shocked if Loyola Cuts Down the Nets’

To put it mildly, the last day of March is a big day for Grant Hill.

The two-time NCAA champion will be calling his fourth consecutive Final Four for Turner Sports with Jim Nantz, Bill Raftery, and Tracy Wolfson, his second biggest accomplishment of the evening. By the time the first game tips-off at 6 PM on TBS (friendly reminder to those stuck on tourneys long past, that’s TBS not CBS), Hill will (officially) be a proud member of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame. The actual announcement won’t come until Saturday afternoon, but Adrian Wojnarowski’s sources already have Hill in Springfield, Mass. alongside no-brainers Steve Nash and Jason Kidd and Sixers champion point guard Maurice Cheeks.

Given his notorious injury history, Hill’s NBA career is often viewed through a What If? lens, but it’s been a Hall-worthy career that far exceeds his medical records. He’s a seven-time All-Star, made an All-NBA team five times, and of course, there are his incredible years in Durham and 1996 Olympic gold. And not for nothing, but he’s regarded as one of the nicest guys around hoops, which is why he won the NBA Sportsmanship Award three times.

Hill took time out of preparing to call the Final Four—starting with No. 3 Michigan Short Shorts vs. No. 11 Loyola Chicago Fighting Sister Jeans and followed by the No. 1 heavyweight showdown between Villanova and Kansas—to speak to VICE Sports. He talks about the highs and lows of his long basketball life, Duke hatred, hammering on ShaqIlvaine, and trying to keep up with Bill Raftery, in broadcasting and barflying.

First things first, let’s go back to the flat-top days, when Grant Hill yanked a ball out of the sky and his long winding road to the Hall of Fame began…

This interview took place before Hill learned he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. It has been edited for clarity.

VICE Sports: Before we get to the NCAA Tourney, I want to ask how you’re feeling about the Hall-of-Fame announcement, a mere 48-hours away…

Grant Hill: My fingers are definitely crossed. There are some amazing finalists—Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Ray Allen to start—so it’s a tough class. Prepping for the Final Four this weekend while knowing the announcement is coming is exciting and nerve-wracking all at once.

I think you’re going to get in Saturday because Springfield looks at a player’s entire career, not just the professional years, but that being said, I looked at your NBA stats and had forgotten how many great seasons you had. Do you think your stellar NBA resume gets overshadowed by seasons lost to injury?

It’s interesting, people I talk to across the country tend to put my basketball career into one of three buckets: The Detroit Piston era, a general respect for overcoming all the injuries, or the main one, Duke. Naturally during March Madness, it’s all Duke all the time, but no matter what time of year, it’s what I’m connected to first. The Kansas dunk and the pass to Laettner will live forever. The NBA injuries are a part of my story, but I wouldn’t say it overshadowed the rest of my pro career. It’s more about certain memories stick with fans and mine are generally from college. Even knowing all we accomplished on those amazing Blue Devil teams, I never thought people would still ask me about it a quarter-century later.

One last Hall-of-Fame question, you started out in the iso-ball era, and then spent five-years at the end running with the Phoenix Suns. Nobody in the NBA is playing Michael Jordan/Kobe Bryant clear-out hoops anymore, but everybody owes a debt to the Suns. Are Mike D’Antoni and impending inductee Steve Nash getting enough credit for changing the game?

You can’t overlook the Kings of the early 2000s, the free-flowing way they played, or even what Don Nelson was doing on the Mavericks with Steve Nash, but I think D’Antoni has perfected it. The league has transitioned because D’Antoni’s system coincided with rule changes offering more freedom of movement and less physicality. It’s funny because playing against those Suns teams in 2004-05, I looked around and it’s like ‘what the hell is going on out here?’ It was total chaos with their different sets and styles, but then playing with them, it all made sense. Now it’s the entire league and I don’t think D’Antoni and Nash are recognized enough for revolutionizing the NBA. The curious thing is, will it ever swing back?

Let’s switch to college. You may or may not be aware of this, but there are more than a few people out there who don’t care for Duke, placing them on the Yankees-Patriots spectrum of teams fans love to loathe. Are most people good-natured about it, or do you get tired or defensive about the Duke hate?

No, not at all. It’s great. Love or hate ‘em, it speaks to the passion of college basketball. There are themes as to why Duke is reviled, the whole I Hate Christian Laettner idea, but it’s really rooted in the success of the program. You can’t deny the historical domination of the Patriots or the Yankees, and hate Duke all you want, but the same is true for what Mike Krzyzewski has accomplished. It’s about excellence and playing the right way. It’s an honor to have played a small role in his legacy. Duke evokes emotion. Good, bad, or indifferent.

As for fans talking trash? It’s almost always joking and in good fun. But don’t forget, I played in the NBA for nineteen seasons, I can talk trash. I can take it and I give it out too.

Last Sunday’s Duke-Kansas game was an absolute classic—and I know it’s your job as a broadcaster—but inside, is it hard to keep your emotions or loyalties in check when Grayson Allen’s floater somehow misses twice?

I’ve done a number of Duke games, all of them when they won in 2015 [ Ed note: Hill laughed adding ‘‘or when we won it if that’s how you want to put it’], but the responsibility as a broadcaster is to be an analyst and provide insight. When it’s a classic, you get lost in the game, and anything outside of what’s happening on the court vanishes. It’s the exact same thing as when I was playing in close NCAA tournament games. During Duke-Kansas, I was completely captivated and reacting to the action unfolding. Coach K used to prepare us for each NCAA weekend by saying we were playing in a “four-team tournament.” Looking at the 64-team bracket can be overwhelming, so lock in and focus on the four-team tournament, and replicate it three times. I take the same approach to television. As a player or broadcaster, getting lost in the game is the reason for doing it.

After a game like Duke-Kansas, I might wish it went the other way, but as a broadcaster, I get to know coaches and kids from both sides. I love Bill Self. I had a great time hanging out on Saturday with Devonte’ Graham and Malik Newman, and know the heartbreak of losing in the regional finals two years in a row. It’s such a privilege to get to know these kids—Carolina! We called back-to-back Tar Heel Finals with Joel Berry and Theo Pinson, who dapped me up before the tip-off! It’s suppose to be sacreligious as a Dookie, but getting to know kids, and experience their stories like UMBD or Loyola, is the best part of the job.

This is your fourth Final Four, is it akin to your senior year where you know what you need to do down cold?

I actually feel like it’s the fourth game of my freshmen season. Here I am at center court in a huge arena, with the best seats in the house, next to two legendary broadcasters in Jim Nantz and Bill Raftery, so I still get pre-game jitters. Once the game starts, I feel more comfortable for sure, but I’ll never catch up to Nantz or Raft in terms of experience. I’m just trying to get better.

Every year, the bigger part of the NCAA tournament experience, however, is how much fun we have. I look forward to the whirlwind month when Nantz, Raftery, Tracy Wolfson, and myself are joined at the hip. It’s an odd little family, but we generally like each other. The off-screen camaraderie is even more important than the on-screen chemistry.

Question pertaining to my interests: Your freshman year slam against Kansas in the Finals is the most famous, but as a Marquette alumni, I want to ask about another dunk that came two years later in the Sweet Sixteen—

Three years later. You’re talking about the Jim McIlvaine dunk, my senior season.

Ah, so clearly you remember it.

I knew about Jim McIlvaine because he won the 93-94 Defensive Player of the Year, which I won the previous season. Mac was a great shot blocker, no doubt, but I had it in my mind before the game to get him. In the first half I was facilitating, setting guys up, waiting until the right time to step in, and not doing a lot of scoring. But I remember the guy Marquette had on me was just yapping, wouldn’t stopped talking trash. I think he was a small forward—

Eford, right. First half I was like Okay, Alright… I’d been playing off the ball, so at halftime, I told Jeff Capel let me take the point and go to work. I think I caught an alley-oop, and then later, I just blew by Eford and dunked on Mac. I got him. It was a nice little moment.

What should fans look for at the Final Four? Who’s dancing at the end?

Professional obligations mean I don’t make predictions, but I honestly believe all the Final Four teams have a shot regardless of seeding. They all have guys who excel at shooting from the perimeter, so it’s which team is going to bury 15-18 threes. Playing in a dome can have an adverse effect, it is different. So Villanova has the experience factor, but each team has good spacing and multiple shooters who can get hot.

Do you really think America’s sweethearts, the Loyola Ramblers, can win twice?

To be honest, I thought they would lose their first game, and certainly not get out of opening weekend, but no fluke team makes the Final Four. It’s earned over four games, and Loyola has been fairly dominant with the three-pointer opening up the floor. I’m not a betting man, not Jimmy the Greek, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Loyola cuts down the nets.

Last question. I, like most of America, want to have beers with Bill Raftery. What’s a night out drinking with him like?

For starters, know that Raft doesn’t do beer. Also know his stamina is amazing. Unbelievable. We’ll be at dinner with wine, maybe a nightcap, then the next morning you’re struggling and he’s going like he just bagged twelve hours of sleep. I never know quite how to prepare for a night out with Raft. Do you build up endurance? Or limit participation?

We joke about it on air, but the main thing is, it’s a great time for fellowship. We have a blast.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been evaluating a copy of ON1 Photo Raw with the thought of switching to it from Lightroom and I’ve written this post so I could share my thoughts.

First some background.

I didn’t actually decide to look around for a Lightroom replacement because I’m dissatisfied with Lightroom. I received a promotional email from ON1 about a discount being applied at the moment because a new version has just been released, and I thought I’d download the 30 day trial to see if it looked interesting. It was only after I’d played about with it for a while that I started to seriously think that it may be a good move, and to be honest this was driven by cost more than any other factor.

I’ve been subscribed to the Adobe Photographers plan for about 5 years now and over that time I’ve paid over £500 to have access to the latest version of Lightroom and Photoshop. Now that is actually quite a good deal if you use it all the time, but for the most part I only use Lightroom. On my rather elderly iMac (2011 i5 version with 12G ram) I can hardly run Photoshop because of the resources it needs, and anyway I only occasionally want to do pixel level editing. In contrast, the ON1 Photo Raw 2018.1 version is about £60 to purchase the software and own a perpetual licence to use it. Even if I purchase an upgrade version every year that is still about half the price.

My ON1 Photo Raw evaluation

So with my reasons discussed, here is my evaluation of ON1 Photo Raw. First thing to note is this is just my personal assessment after a few days trial – it may be that I have things setup incorrectly and some of the negatives are simply that I haven’t found the correct way to do things but for what it’s worth these are my findings.

ON1 Photo Raw Negative Points

First I’m going to mention the few negative points I’ve found in my short evaluation of ON1 Photo Raw. I’ll add some detail for some of these points in the text that follows, but I’ll just say that for me none of them are real no-go, deal breakers. They are simply annoyances which I’ve listed in order of most annoying to least annoying

No history view to allow rollback to any point

No Hierarchical collections

Can’t select a lens correction if it isn’t detected

Doesn’t work with two monitors

Mouse wheel doesn’t scroll filmstrip although it works in thumbnail view

The History view is one of those things in Lightroom which I don’t use often, but when I do it is pretty important. Every time you make a change in Lightroom a restore point is added to the history view and you can step back to that point at anytime. When I tried to find the same view on ON1, I found it doesn’t exist. It is possible to remove all the edits and even to remove all the changes applied in any of the individual modules, but I would rather be able to step back to any point in the process.

I find hierarchical collections to be a good way of organising my photos, although I can live without them. For example, all my pictures of vintage cameras which I’ve taken for the vintage camera reviews on this site are arranged in collections underneath a top level collection called Vintage Camera Pictures. This makes it easer to find any particular set, and also removes clutter from the collection list.

The lens correction pane in ON1 is both better and worse in my opinion. One of the things I didn’t like with Lightroom was that I always had to apply the lens correction manually; Lightroom would detect the lens manufacturer from the metadata, but I then had to select the lens. Now that may have been me not using Lightroom correctly, but I could never find a way of making it automatic. ON1 Photo Raw does exactly what I want in that situation and automatically applies the correction if the option to do that is turned on. Unfortunately however, if I’m shooting with a manual, vintage lens so the metadata isn’t embedded in the photo, I can’t select it even if it is in the database of lenses. Instead I have to create a manual lens correction profile and then apply that.

The other two points about multiple monitors and the film strip scrolling are really just minor irritants.

These are features of ON1 Photo Raw which I find easy, useful or convenient to use and I’ve listed as Positive points. Again I’ll give some more details after the list, but unlike the negatives, this list is not in order of importance to me.

I said above that I don’t do much pixel level editing and that I find Photoshop difficult to run on my Mac. Well, I suspect that the difficulty in running Photoshop is one of the reasons why I don’t do those type of edits; since it takes so long to get a Photoshop session running and it’s so slow when it is running, I just don’t bother doing it. This is one of the advantages of ON1 Photo Raw – all the editing features are built into the one program and you simply switch modules to use them.

I believe that ON1 started out writing plugins for Lightroom and Photoshop which apply filters and presets to images. If that is true, they certainly supply a lot of preset effects and film simulations in their own ON1 Photo Raw package which is good, but one of the best things I find is that I can see all the possible pre-sets applied to the image I’m working on as a full screen, browse window without actually applying them to the photo.

This is shown here and also in the gallery above, where you can see a whole series of film simulations applied to an image I took in York a few years ago. With examples this size (and the size can be adjusted with the browse image size slider) it’s easy to see if you want to apply any of the filters.

Probably the most important thing for me is a the next two items on the list. There is no need to import photos and it’s possible to use cloud storage systems. At the moment, my Mac has about 200G of its 1000G free, but I’m having to constantly move images to external disks in order to recover disk space.

With ON1 Photo Raw, I can move all of the raw images off the Mac and on to a separate USB drive and then just open the images directly from the drive when I want to. The images don’t need to be imported into the editor – it just opens the files from their current location and writes the changes it makes to a database so it keeps track of them. It is also possible for that location to be cloud based storage, although I haven’t worked out if that is actually pulling the files in from the cloud, or just using the local copy – I may try that later to find out.

The other points in the list above have either been discussed, like the Lens Correction, or are fairly obvious, but one other fairly important item included with ON1 Photo Raw is a whole raft of training videos which are included in the package. The few I’ve watched are pretty well put together and show a lot of how to get the most out of the software.

At the moment I’m still in the process of evaluating the software, but for an amateur photographer like me it seems a more cost effective solution than using the Lightroom / Photoshop option.
