For the longest time I was trying to figure out how I could fit V3 into my nextgen au for danganronpa, because while yes it’s not necessary I still wanted to do something fun and refreshing with the characters I like and the game I hate. I don’t like v3, I feel like it was a “fuck you” to the fans of DR, and so much of it was so underdeveloped and just. Lazy. HOWEVER I feel like the characters at their base have a lot of potential and could do better as my own ocs So!! They’re mine now!!!! Yes they have similarities to the characters they’re based off of, but for the most part I’m taking them and running away from “v3 canon” to make a world similar to what Araki did with the Steel Ball Run universe in jjba. You understand.
This isn’t all of them of course- I just feel like I should drop the first few while I work on the rest and do research where I need to :3c
Meet a few of the students from the class below Hayatos at Newdawn Academy, the school connected with the primary post-tragedy reconstruction program after the collapse of Future Foundation!

The Citizenships Amendment Bill :The hindu rasthra project
The Citizenships amendment Bill 2019 which was passed in both lower and upper house seeks to give citizenship (or fast track the process )to those primarily 6 religion groups Hindu, sikh, Christian,Jain,Parsi, Buddhist who are religiously persecuted minorities belonging to 3 neighbouring country pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan. The act also reduce the residential requirements for these ppl from 11yrs to 6 and cuttoff date has been set at 21 Dec 2014.In short The bill choose to open it’s door to non muslim from 3 countries.
In both its intent and wording they brazenly singled out one community:MUSLIM
Damning part of this act is they carefully avoided “persecuted minorities” from act but in their statement in objection and reasons they say persecuted minorities will be given citizenship. They also relaxed some rules Through notification in 2015 -2016, Home ministry exempted these undocumented migrants from adverse panel consequences (making it lenient) under the passport (entry into india) act 1920 and foreigner act 1948.
If government intention is to give citizenship on humanitarian ground why they choose these 3 country only and Why not the following ppl who are also persecuted on a daily basis?
Ahmadis in Pakistan ,in thier constitution they not even consider muslim many riots killed them, infamously in 2010 where 84 Ahamdis are murdered knows as Lahore massacre.Srilanka Tamil refugee more that 55000 living in tharamangalam district of Tamil nadu who fled becoz of civil wars ,religiously persecuted by Christian/monks.Atheist in Bangladesh.Christian in BhutanRohingyas in myanmar.
CAA balantly discriminates n says we will allow this minorities but not those minorities!!. Countering this in parliament gov says “we only allowing from country who are theocratic in nature and their state religion is muslim”. In doing this they inevidently discrediting other minorities n thier suffering!
Some myths regarding this Act which I point out below
Argument 1:- Amit and modi in his speech says crores of ppl will benefit from this
Fact:- a)Before CAA lapsed in 2017 (since it failed to pass in rajya sabha on time) bill was sent to standing committee . When asked questioned how many will benefit intelligence bureau said quote “there are 31313 (Hindus 25447,sikh 5807, Christian 55, Buddhist 2,Parsi 2 Jain 0) currently living who have been given long term visas on basis of thier claim of religious persecution in Thier respective countries and want indian citizenship” unquote
B) Government of india has yet to formulate law/provision to find out how a person is religiously persecuted and not on economic/political basis.(this is also shows how hastly and without proper discussion the bill was passed).
C) This CAA will not help to even those who are currently persecuted minorities and came after cutoff date 21 December 2014 .
Argument 2:- Hindu population dropped from 23% to 2% this was claimed by many BJP seniors .
Facts:- there is little change in hindu population in Pakistan over the years, rather than systematic decline hindu population fell drastically before and after partition.
In Undivided British India in 1931, 15% hindu population constituted in Pakistan this percentage dropped drastically in 1951 to 1.3% why is that because millions of hindus migrated from Pakistan to indian side.
Hindu population was consistent through the year.
1951 :- 1.3%
1962:- 1.4%
1998 census showed there were 2.1 million hindus living in Pakistan that number grew to 3 million in 2017 census
This migration also explain sudden drop in muslim in indian side of Punjab ….54% muslim lived in indian side of Punjab State in 1941 that number came down 0.8% in 1951 post partition.
Argument 3:- There are 49 muslim majority country and muslim can choose any country but hindus has only 1 .
This is argument is farce if that’s the case why even include Buddhist and Christian ? There are 5 Buddhist majority country and more than 100christian majority country
Modi/shah will fullfill jinnah dream of two nation theory..
Amit Shah in parliament debate accused Congress that it divided India on the basis of religion and he is undoing the mistake it made in 1947 , even modi said in one his election speech “There are many children of Maa Bharti who have faced persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh… We will stand with those who are a part of India once , but got separated from us.”
The claim is that the CAA will somehow finish the unfinished business of Partition. On the contrary, it will only fullfill Jinnah two nation theory
Partition become necessary when there are two vision from different leaders who didn’t agree upon, one was Jinnah who wanted muslim for Pakistan and hindus for India… on other side Indian founders belived that nationhood is not a religious construct. It is geographical. From Islamabad to Kanyakumari, we were one people united by shared geography and history. We were united in our diversity.
Savarkar was also among the first to purpose two nation theory in ambedhad during hindu mahasabha council debate 1932
Ambedkar replying to Savarkar wrote quote “Strange as it may appear, Mr. Savarkar and Mr. Jinnah, instead of being opposed to each other on the one nation versus two nations issue, are in complete agreement about it. Both agree, not only agree but insist, that there are two nations in India—one the Muslim nation and the other the Hindu nation. They differ only as regards the terms and conditions on which the two nations should live” unquote
Gandhi wrote in his biography “I find no parallel in history for a body of converts and their descendants claiming to be a nation apart from the parent stock”
God only know which history books Amit Shah read!!
Because of this difference of opinion two country came into effect
With CAA if you are a Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian in present-day Afghanistan, Bangladesh or Pakistan, you will soon be able to walk into India illegally, or overstay your visa, and become an Indian citizen in six years. To exclude Muslims from this privilege, just because they are the “majority” community in these countries, is to say that Muslims are not the children of “Maa Bharti”
In practice CAA will encourage large scale migration from neighbouring 3 countries predominantly hindus completing unfinished business of modi/shah dream of making hindu rasthra.
Hemant Sharma BJP senior Assam leader openly says he wants to give Bangladeshi hindu migrants election voter id and asking shah to expedite CAA process as soon possible before Assam 2021 state election. ( Lol I mean they not even hiding about this ).
With CAA + NRC
Modi/shah has a tool to harass muslim who are unable to proof their grand father citizenship, these will be stripped of citizenship and will be sent to detainion camps.
Hindus in(CAA) muslim out(NRC), that’s the message of this exercise it basically a way of accepting two nation theory (Jinnah would be patting modi/shah right now). Such a good way to honour 150th anniversary of Gandhi right?.
One of interesting fact about CAA nowhere it is mentioned “persecuted minorities” so saying ‘see we are helping minorities” is nothing but media spin meant to fool us ..
If ram and Rahim both residing before 31 Dec 2014 and both have been declared illegal ,ram has a easy way out he can approach United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees declare himself he/she perscuted and get citizenship through CAA and God knows what will happen to Rahim!
Even Chetan bhagat who I use to call him modi bhakt tweeted this simple explanation.
What about those who are poor, homeless, ppl from tribals area, ppl who have been displaced through floods..how all this ppl will produce legacy documents??This is not only anti muslim but also anti poor, as Kannan gopinathan (IAS officer who resigned post article 370) says this government not only evil but also dumb,
Evil because it’s target certain community
Dumb because even after creating big blunder in Assam NRC which costed them more than 1600cr (they junked it saying majority found to be hindus) says they will apply NRC through out India *demonetising human being*
Conclusion,my final thoughts..
CAA itself is discriminatory and with NRC, Modi/shah has a dangerous tool to target muslim, harass marginalized groups, polarize through plaint media ,use it has a vote bank politics and change idea of India forever which our founder fought n we cherished for 70yrs.
Past 30yr they used Ayodhya,
Next 30yr they will use CAA+NRC.
Jai hind.

It wasn’t your fault. No, none of it was ever your fault, but they hated you anyway. When you were born, it was your mother that started screaming first, and the wails that threatened to burst your new, pink lungs were only echoes of her terror. No child deserves to be welcomed into the world surrounded by tangible disgust, the first words they hear those of regret, a curse spat towards the stark white hospital ceiling instead of a whispered prayer of thanks. As you grew, nothing changed. You knew the mask before you knew yourself, and the long days spent hunched over the piano in the basement taught you all you needed to know about the person you were to become. Symphony after symphony scribbled down on spare scraps of paper, giving yourself the education your mother kept you from, the echoes of nursemaid’s screams forever echoing in her ears and instilling in her a deep shame verging on terror: this was your childhood, your only companions the notes which filled your mind and spilled from trembling fingertips to stain the ivory of the piano a deep crimson. It was a passion, a love affair, something violent and endlessly grasping. It pulled the darkness from inside of you, nurtured and fed it, thrived on the hatred your mother showed you, turned it into a deep malice reflected back at the world you saw in the mirror. Soon the hatred and the music were all you had.
When you found yourself too old to live on stale bread and day old hate, the outside world showed you no pity, and certainly no love. It wasn’t until you found yourself on the crumbling doorstep of a woman whose bitterness rivaled your own that two old souls seemed to bond for the first time in your life. A somehow world-weary glint in the eyes of a man who had never seen the world farther than the tip of his own covered nose was reflected in Madalene’s eyes, and she gave you the chance you never thought you’d get. Music in exchange for food on your table and a place to lay your head at night. She told you to train her daughter, to make her little girl a star. She never said which one. So you chose Christine, chose her chestnut locks and her bright eyes and her round, pink cheeks. You would have been content with her and your music, replacing the hatred with something that felt like love when it danced on the tip of your tongue. But life had other plans for you, and so did Madalene. It’s where you find yourself now, the somewhat unwilling king of an empire built in the filth of Paris. Madalene says the theatre is only a front. She’ll never understand that the theatre is who you are, the organization is the mask you so loathe.

You’re children, both of you, your realities horribly distorted in such different ways. Where you see heartache and despair, she sees light and laughter and something else hidden just behind glossy lips that looks as sweet and soft as rosepetals. Maybe it's that you even each other out, or maybe the attraction lies in latching onto what you lack that the other has in abundance. As much as it terrifies you to admit, you feel as though you can't live without her anymore. Christine, as artificial as she is, makes you feel real and whole. If your lips could form the word love without curling and without bile rising in your throat, you think you would feel it for her. It’s a kind of codependency bound to end in disaster, but at least for the moment it feels safe.
GIGI DESTLER
Maybe Mama was right after all. Gigi has always been your antithesis, the perfection you've always sought was born clasped between her fingers. You remember her birth, remember standing at your mother's side in the hospital and reaching for Gigi, for her pink bright newness, and being slapped away with quick hands and a harsh tone. You had only wanted to hold her. The same part of you that hoped her light might spark in you and take hold and snuff out your darkness was also perpetually terrified your blackness would leech into the pure white of her being. It was almost a comfort when you left her behind. It felt selfless, and it made you feel monstrous for the first time. After that, it was always more comforting to fancy that she hated you. Hated you for turning out towards the world and your own destiny and never looking back. Having your beloved little sister back in your arms once more is a bright feeling you haven't felt in years, but knowing how much better off she was without you is slowly ripping open the seam in your chest, every stitch baring her name.
RAHIM AHMADI
Rahim was the first person you met after you left home, roommates in some run-down hostel in Oman. Neither of you had a goal, a destination. A purpose. So you stuck together and wandered the Arabian countryside together before settling back in Paris. Rahim was born and raised in Iran, and the bright lights of Paris drew him in. He stuck to the city like a wayward fly in macaroon batter. The city took to him just about as well as the poor fly. But the two of you found comfort in each other, Rahim sitting patiently by as you wrote your music. Though more than a little concerned about the business Madalene forced on you, Rahim would only consent to involvement should you agree to his being your right-hand man. Your confidant. It seemed only fitting, and at the very least it lets the two of you sit huddled as you bemoan the bloodshed together.

Afghanistan’s looming cash crisis threatens to worsen a humanitarian disaster
Afghanistan’s banking system is in a state of collapse, and people throughout the country are running out money. And this cash crisis—partly due to the international community’s efforts to starve the Taliban of resources—is having an outsized effect on everyday Afghan citizens, leaving many without access to important services as the UN warns of a growing humanitarian disaster.
Asef Khademi, who was previously working to modernize the country’s financial systems, is one of the many people now hiding in Kabul who wants to leave Afghanistan, but his hope is waning fast.
“I’m just knocking on every door, just sending emails to everyone to see if I can get out of this country,” he says.
Khademi is afraid because for the last three and a half years he has been working for an internationally-funded project to bring digital currency and banking into people’s lives. Afghanistan Payments System, or APS, was founded in 2011, funded by the World Bank, and became part of the Central Bank of Afghanistan two years ago.
It was an important project: the Afghan economy runs on cash, and only an estimated 10 to 15% of citizens have a bank account. APS was meant to help Afghanistan become less cash-dependent, make economic transactions more secure and efficient, and bring real banking to more people. And, says Khademi, it was moving fast before the US withdrew its forces and the Taliban took over.
Now, though, as chaos continues to unfold in Afghanistan, the project has stopped, and cash is running out before any viable alternatives have been put in place.
But a different outcome was within reach, Khademi says: Afghanistan was perhaps just a year or two away from having a 21st-century digital banking infrastructure that could cope even if cash disappeared. His team was “very committed and hardworking”, he says, regularly working up to 17-hour days to support rapid growth. They were “so passionate about the economy to be standing on its own.”
“We were hoping our efforts would pay off,” he says, through tears. “It seems like everything was in vain, everything we have done. It seems like a dream, but now it’s never going to come true.”
Frozen assets
The cash crisis is not an accident. Most of the previous Afghan government’s assets were held in offshore accounts that have since been frozen to prevent the Taliban from gaining access, according to former Central Bank governor Ajmal Ahmady. And the US has chosen to prevent the Taliban—which is on the Treasury Department’s sanctions list—from getting hold of other funds by freezing Afghan government cash reserves and halting planned shipments of cash. Many Afghans have been expecting such a situation for weeks, with long lines at banks as citizens worried about the future drained them of cash.
ATM activity went through the roof. “Friends [who work in banks] said where they normally did hundreds of transactions per day, they were doing thousands,” says Ruchi Kumar, a journalist and contributor to MIT Technology Review who worked in Kabul for eight years but fled the country recently.
The problems caused by the lack of cash are building up. US dollars are becoming increasingly scarce, the value of Afghan cash is plummeting and, according to Khademi, the price of basic goods is skyrocketing. Cash remains in circulation—Afghanistan has a sizeable informal banking system, run though local unlicensed currency traders. Sources say that they are still operating, but without banking activity, money supply will soon run tight.
Some outsiders are trying to fill the gap by running online fundraising campaigns, while others have even suggested that cryptocurrency could step into the void.
But getting money into the country from outside has become more difficult. Western Union, the world’s largest money transfer company, has suspended services in Afghanistan, and NBC reports that MoneyGram has halted operations there too. Meanwhile some foreign crowdfunding websites, such as GoFundMe, have been accused of “disingenuous” behavior after blocking some fundraising efforts for the country while letting others proceed.
“I didn’t think this day would come”
While digital alternatives have largely failed to fill the gap left by the cash collapse, there have been some windows of opportunity for alternative services to help out.
Kumar, the journalist, says that vulnerable Afghans are using services like WasalPay—an online payment system for utility bills—to keep their phone credit topped up.
She’s using it to send money that people in distress can use to stay connected. Her network includes journalists, activists, and human rights defenders; they are able to use WasalPay to access funds coming from outside the country, whether from individual donations and contributions, or from larger sources such as the International Women’s Media Foundation.
Many of the recipients, she says, are indoors, in hiding, with little but their phones and the clothes on their backs. The money helps ensure they can keep in touch with their families, but it also gives them a shot at getting a plane out of Afghanistan.
“They are trying to leave the country, and they’re waiting for someone to say it’s time to leave and go to the airport,” Kumar says. Women—especially single women who work—are especially at risk. “They cannot leave their homes, especially if they know they are on the Taliban’s target list. So we are trying to facilitate phone credits remotely.”
Kumar says she is inundated with requests: she has made 140 payments so far and already has requests for another 40.
Sher Shah Rahim, the CEO of WasalPay, says that he’s had to shutter some of his other businesses—including KabulReads, Afghanistan’s first online bookstore—over safety concerns. But he’s committed to keeping WasalPay going until at least December, given that it has become essential for some. It’s not easy, though.
“As a company, I have no cash on me because I didn’t think this day would come,” he says. “I had all my money in the banks, and the banks are closed.”
Looming chaos
All these efforts are a race against time, however. With the exit of international forces and media planned for the end of August, the situation could worsen considerably. After that point, it will become much harder for people to flee.
“They’re already secretly cracking down at night time, going to peoples’ houses to search for them,” says Kumar. “But they will crack down much more after the 31st. They’re even texting people threats saying that.”
“They might just destroy it. They might just burn all of these technologies.”
As with so much in Afghanistan right now, the broader financial situation is chaotic and hugely uncertain. The value of the afghani, the country’s currency, has plummeted, and it’s unlikely to stabilize for some time, according to Thomas Groll, an economist at Columbia University.
For now, many Afghans will be forced to rely on any cash reserves, local currency traders or bartering to get the goods they need, Groll says.
Local entrepreneurs are worried for their own safety and that of their families. Khademi has lost many family members, including his father, to Taliban attacks in the past. Rahim, meanwhile, plans to wait and see what Taliban rule is like, although he’s shutting down his office and orchestrating remote work set-ups for his 18 employees.
But beyond worrying about their immediate safety, they also see a wasted opportunity to build a genuine future.
“Everybody relies 100% on cash, and this was about to change,” says Rahim. “[APS] finally succeeded bringing digital banking to Afghanistan, but as soon as they launched and began to start walking from crawling, the Taliban came and everything basically turned into dust.”
Khademi, meanwhile, isn’t sure what happens next. “I’ve worked so hard to become who I am today, to reach the level I am at today,” he says. “I don’t want to lose it all at once.”
He’s heard rumors that banks will be open next week, and he thinks the Taliban could even decide to continue the project. But he also thinks that it could be shut down. “They might just destroy it,” he says. “They might just burn all of these technologies. Who knows?”

Eighteen people have been convicted of abusing girls in Newcastle who were plied with alcohol and drugs before being forced to have sex.
The vulnerable victims, some as young as 14, were exploited by a “cynical organisation”, a court heard.
The 17 men and one woman were convicted of rape, supplying drugs and conspiracy to incite prostitution.
Over the course of four trials, 20 young women gave evidence covering a period from 2011 to 2014.
These trials involved 26 defendants, who were mostly Asian, facing a total of more than 100 charges and 22 victims.
Those prosecuted were from the Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Indian, Iraqi, Iranian and Turkish communities and mainly British-born, with most living in the West End of Newcastle.
Of the 26, three people have been jailed. The rest will be sentenced next month.
It also emerged during the court process that police paid a convicted child rapist 10,000 as an informant.
Reaction after 18 people convicted over abuse
“Vile crimes committed by evil men”
The victims were at first flattered by the attention of the men who apparently befriended them, but were then lured to parties, known as “sessions”, by the promise of alcohol and drugs – often mephedrone (or M-Kat), Newcastle Crown Court heard.
Bags of M-Kat were left on coffee tables for the girls to help themselves.
The parties took place at premises around the West End, including the top floor of tower block Todd’s Nook, where one teenager said she was raped three times.
The prosecution said they became the “vulnerable victims of an organised, cynical, systematic organisation in which they were passed between their abusers.”

Media captionOperation Sanctuary was the biggest investigation into sexual exploitation by Northumbria Police
Some spoke of being “too intoxicated” to defend themselves, while others became addicted and had to commit sexual acts in return for drugs.
One victim said she had attended about 60 parties and another told of going to an address where there were two older men and a woman, who seemed “frightened and scared, like a slave”.
She said: “They told us what she would do for them for money and drugs or she’d get battered.”
Another victim said: “I knew that if we wanted drugs or alcohol we would have to do something.
“[He] had us too intoxicated to fight him off. One time, [he] locked the door. I was told I would only be allowed out if I had sex.”
Northumbria Police set up Operation Sanctuary in December 2013 to investigate claims of sexual abuse against girls and young women.
The investigation is ongoing and to date has resulted in 461 arrests. Police have spoken to 703 potential complainants and 278 victims have been identified.
Image caption The victims were abused at addresses around the West End of Newcastle
Due to its size, the investigation was split into a number of spin-off operations.
Operation Shelter uncovered groups of men in the West End of Newcastle – many of whom were known to each other – who exploited vulnerable young women and girls over a period from 2010 to 2014.
This eventually led to four separate trials, the first commencing in September 2015 and the final one which has just concluded, allowing previous reporting restrictions to be lifted.
Chris Jackson, BBC Inside Out in the North East and Cumbria
Sarah (not her real name) was 19, extremely vulnerable and unable to look after herself.
Along with other at-risk teenagers she was regularly abused by older men.
In the new year of 2014, Sarah told the police she had been raped by Abdul Minoyee.
A police officer took Sarah on a tour of the West End to try identify Minoyee’s house and car and other places where these “parties” had taken place.
Sarah’s information was a red flag – the abuse was on a much bigger scale.
The detective in charge of Sarah’s case told his bosses that what she had said signalled something much bigger.
Days later the officer’s hunch was given added weight when two girls in care reported that they had been repeatedly raped by a group of older Asian men.
The girls were aged 14 and 15.
They described being driven into Newcastle where they were plied with alcohol and cocaine before being raped and beaten by several men.
They were given money before being returned home.
One of the victims was in local authority care at the time. Newcastle City Council has launched a serious case review that is due to be published in December.
Council leader Nick Forbes said: “These were vile crimes committed by evil men.
“The victims … have been brave beyond belief and undoubtedly have made our city safer.”
Chief Constable Steve Ashman said: “We have not and will not stop.
“There has been no political correctness here. These are criminals and there has been no hesitation in arresting them and targeting them using all the means at our disposal.”
Now that reporting restrictions can be lifted, it can be revealed that a police officer was sacked for failing to investigate a sex offender’s phone.
It related to an earlier Operation Sanctuary investigation, which resulted in the conviction of Bahmani Ahmadi.
Mr Ashman said the officer should have been much more diligent, and that his dismissal should provide reassurance that the police culture in Northumbria had changed.

You were born to fly. When you were still small, your mother told you at night, her cool thin fingers brushing dark hair away from your forehead, that you took a bow after your first breath and nearly somersaulted out of the doctor's arms. She said that was when she knew, right at that moment, that you would be something extraordinary, that people all around the world would covet the person you were to become, but you mustn't let them clip your wings. 'My little Zvezda. Such a pretty bird.' she would croon as your tiny restless form would fight against the weight of sleep pressing you to your bed. You used to insist you were wide awake right until the moment you suddenly weren't. You still do. You always want to be awake, moving, alive. You want to experience everything that life has to offer you. But what's always come most natural is the The feeling of the wind against your face, throwing your hair back and stinging your cheeks. You were in gymnastic classes when you were four, acrobatics when you were nine. When you were fifteen you became an aerialist. Now the posters with your name on them boast a stage persona you know your mother would be proud of, something that she dreamt of when you were no more than a foot tall. Miss Fleck! they say, The aerial exoticism! Half bird, half woman! You appreciate the half-bird portion of that more than anything else, you think. Though bird might be a bit of an exaggeration, you're certainly no more than half woman, and it's nice to have all of your own very real identity made public, acknowledged in a way that, while you know it's not understood as you mean it, is still a comfort.
Those posters were made before Erik found you. You had another manager once, though you think you've forgotten his name. He came up with that tagline, printed it on old fashioned posters and plastered them around town. One show at an old circus venue halfway out of the country and then he was gone. Took all your earnings from the show as well as his promotional and advisement fee with him. That was how Erik found you, really. Penniless and broken, wondering if you'd ever fly again. You like to think that his calling you and your siblings special was only directed at you. It was really quite a shock when Sebastian started to sing, busted out with some golden deep baritone you'd never known he had. But you were still Miss Fleck, and that would never change. It might be awhile before you really get your wings back, but for now you can do acrobatic tricks on Erik's stage as he helps you collect your feathers once more.

CHERRY LANGLEY, ODESSA FAUST, AND REMY BOURQUE
Every girl needs a good group of gal pals, and it's never been hard to find yours, no matter where you are. The theatre was no different, and it's even a little funny that you're the glue holding your little group together. Normally they'd never mesh well together at all; Odessa's too self-absorbed, Cherry's too tender-hearted, and Remy's too gossipy. But you make it all work, and they can only all get along if you're there. It's comforting in a selfish sort of way, knowing that they'll never run off and go have fun without you simply because it isn't possible. But together the four of you have great misadventures, causing mayhem and getting into trouble. You and Cherry particularly have gotten into more than your fair share of trouble for it with Erik, being warned not to draw attention to yourselves, not to break anything, not to hurt the soul of the theatre or some other bleeding heart nonsense. You both love Erik but really, he's such a grumpy old man sometimes. But he is your boss, after all, so you nod along dutifully and then scamper away giggling. It's alright. You'll just sneak into his office the next time he falls asleep in there and put his hand in a bowl of warm water.
GREGORY RENARD AND SEBASTIAN RENARD
Your two older siblings. You love them with all your heart, you really do, but this new thing Sebastian is doing where he's trying to edge his way into your spotlight isn't sitting well with you at all. Of course, you can't let him know that; he's always a nervous wreck, and that's even more obnoxious than anything else you could possibly think of. Sometimes it does cross your mind that the way you think of him, the way you treat him, is more than a little selfish; he has been raising you for the last five years, after all. He did invest all of his heard-earned money into your career only to watch it crash and burn when your old manager ripped you off. But you really do love him, and Gregory too, in your own way. You just think maybe you only have room for one emotion at a time or something, and lately those emotions have had to be focused around yourself. There isn't really a whole lot of room for anyone else in such a tiny body, so there's certainly no use feeling guilty about it.
MADALENE GIRY
For whatever reason, Madalene blatantly despises you and your siblings and, no matter what Erik says, you're not having any of it, so you're giving that bitter old woman a taste of her own medicine whenever you get the chance. She says something nasty to you, you say something nastier right back. She makes a comment about the way you dress, you knock that stupid cane out from under her and hope she falls on her face. You have no idea why she hates you so much, but she does, and so you hate her back. That's just the way it is, those are the rules.

The ratcatcher. You don't have much of a history beyond that title, bestowed on you many years ago by a man whose name you can't remember. It was what you called yourself before your lips first formed around the name 'Lucien;' that one came later, it was something you chose for yourself, beautiful syllables made pure and clean and whole,, stolen from the people you passed on the street who didn't deserve them. Somehow you became the city's very unofficial exterminator, of sorts; people would call, leave notes, when there was a rat who needed to be dealt with. Someone disloyal, whether to their spouse, their career, their country, their own moral compass; it's never mattered to you. The intentions of pests mean nothing to you, only the fact that their inferior way of life does not spread any further than it already has. And that's where it begins, the start of your services. Finding our where the disloyalty of your target lies — let your more law-abiding counterparts decide where it stems from — and discerning how to eradicate it. Luckily for the sewer rats of this fair city, this does not always result in a death. No, sometimes the extermination is that of a position of power, of a relationship, or of a career. And of course, sometimes you are left with no other options than to take that which they hold most dear. It is, at the very least, a lesson well learned.
But, like any teacher, your work is most often done out of the goodness of your heart, out of a sense of duty and a desire to impart good onto future generations. Sadly, good deeds often don't go unpunished, and you found yourself in and out of prison and often just barely scraping by, living in a single wide trailer wherever you could before you were chased away, forced to move to avoid suspicion. It was living like this that you were discovered, recruited, to do exactly what you had built your life upon doing but on a much larger scale, and perhaps in a more disingenuous way. Mafia. The word fell funny from your lips, hung thick in the air before falling hard, like concrete, to the dirt at your feet. It took some getting used to, but the promise of a more comfortable life was something to look forward to, and you were assured the core of your work wouldn't be interfered with in anyway. You would only have to broaden the scope of your intelligence, and report it back instead of hoarding it all to yourself. It seemed easy enough, and so far it is. You're certainly living on Easy Street, at the very least, and you intend to stay there as long as possible.

ERIK DESTLER
To be disloyal to your employer would to be disloyal to everything you stand for, everything upon which you've built your life, and thus your very being, and yet you've never been able to quite figure Erik out. He's the boss — literally. This organization, the foundation for the veritable empire rides on his shoulders, and he seems to be indifferent to it all, only taking part in minor, unimportant things which please him and shrugging the rest off to Madalene and Rahim and Kristos. It's... odd, to say the least. He pays you, feeds you, clothes you, puts a roof over your head, all to find out information about both the people under his employ and those against whom he works, and yet you find yourself the most intrigued by him. Not that you'd ever start building a case against him, heaven forbid, but still. You almost wonder if this is truly where his heart is.
GIGI DESTLER
She's meant to be working at your side, but she's much too tender-hearted to do much of anything. All she does is stand around all dewy and doe-eyed and stare incredulously on, as though she's too appalled by the actions of those around her. It's sickening, really, and for awhile you couldn't for the life of you understand why she was even here to begin with. It was only once you saw her around that brother of hers that things began to make sense, and you gained some sliver of respect for her. She might be a deer in headlights without even a walnut of a brain rattling around in that skull of hers, but she's more loyal than most people could ever dream of being. So you tolerate her, at the very least, and try and show her the ropes, take her under your wing. Perhaps she's having none of it or perhaps she's too kind to push you away, but you can only hope that eventually, slowly, she'll begin to hear you, that your advice will bore through her eardrums and nestle happily in her moral compass, and something will take root.
RAHIM AHMADI
It was, surprisingly enough, Rahim and not Erik who found you. You're one of the few, you suppose. One of the only not handpicked by the Phantom himself. You suppose you should feel slighted, but instead you're more amused that Rahim is going around boasting himself as some sort of savior. He's almost like Victor Frankenstein, you think; were it not for him, you would not exist as you do now. You would still be a nobody, living nowhere with nothing. A blip on a dust-covered map long forgotten in some ancient archive, left behind by pillagers and scavagers. You never would have amounted to anything, and certainly not the life you have now. And yet, in spite of his great discovery, his creation even, you find he can't stand the sight of you. Shies away when you enter a room, curls his lip when you open your own mouth to speak. You almost can't blame him. You've hardly had the chance to show it yet, but somehow he knows of the monster you are, the one you've always been. Only now you have a reason to be, and the thought of it thrills you. And you have Erik's kindly Daroga to thank for it.

Tumblr media
It would have been easy to call your life perfect. When you woke up in the mornings, even the simplest sensation of the sunlight on your face was enough to make your heart feel as though it was ready to burst. Your face never knew an expression other an a grin so wide it threatened to split handsome features down the middle. Your wife would tug at one stray curl in the middle of your forehead with a smirk and a kiss; 'my Superman,' she would whisper, close enough to feel her breath on your lips, 'What could anyone possibly have to fear with you by their side?' She was your world, your life, the reason for your existence. But protecting her was never enough; you had too much love in your heart to be confined to simply one person, and a sense of duty called you to the police force. Your wife would always come first in your life and in your heart, but the goodness beating between your ribs ached to spill out and cover the city in a blanket of serenity. Eventually they called you their captain, their chief and leader. Daroga. The promotion was met with a playful salute from your wife, every suggestion or domestic query met with a staunch, 'Yes, sir.' Then, later, you would sweep her off her feet and she would whisper in your ear, 'captain of my heart, now the captain of the city. Is there anything you can't do, my love?' Two rough hands would smooth the hair away from her face in anticipation of a kiss, and you would murmur back, 'no, nothing.' Part of you almost believed it for a time. You learned the answer too late.
One day you found the test in the bottom of the bathroom trash can. Pregnant. It wasn't something either of you were expecting, but you liked to think you were ready. You certainly had enough love in you to extend to another person, especially if that person could fit into your arms and had the eyes of the one you loved most. You were expecting little feet hitting the floors of your tiny apartment with a determination that came from your bones, your spirit. You didn't expect to come home to a pool of blood on that same floor, your wife broken and bleeding, gone by the time you came through the door and the baby with her. The doctor assured you there was nothing you could have done. You throw a single white rose down onto her casket, hot tears spilling down tanned cheeks, bottom lips trembling. 'I should have been able to do everything for you.' The two of you could have lived to be a hundred with a castle full of children and grandchildren and it still would never have been enough, she always would have deserved more. She especially didn't deserve this ending, the pen trailed off the page in the middle of a brand new chapter long before the end of the book. And you were left staring heavy-hearted at a collection of blank pages, not knowing what to do with your own story anymore. It's only been a handful of years since you lost her, and already the memory seems so distant. Trying to think of how she felt in your arms feels like trying to remember the words to your favorite song; something you should know, something you've thought of for more hours than you can count, and then somehow, suddenly, it's not there one day. You were ready to believe the love deep within you had run dry. And then you found him. Or, rather, he found you, dirty and unshaven and handcuffed; arrested for stealing a few days worth of food from a vendor down the street. Dropped at your feet begging for mercy. You could see in his eyes that while his cracked lips formed easily around the word, it wasn't something he had much experience with. The well within you which you had capped with black silk and flowers long ago suddenly started to bubble up again of its own accord. You slipped your hand under his chin and smiled at him until his own features echoed the expression in a kind of grateful bewilderment, and then you took his hand in yours and ask him what led him to this kind of desperation. He confessed his life to you, his story, his sins, and you took pity on him. No, more than pity. Took an interest in him. He needed someone to protect him, and you so desperately needed someone to protect. That night, under the cover of darkness, you unlocked his cell, released him from his handcuffs, and fled with him. Somewhere, anywhere. Any place that would hold you. Eventually you found yourselves in Paris, on Madalene's doorstep. Now somehow you find yourself in the middle of the very crime you once sought to eradicate. But you have a meaning again, a purpose. Something to fight for. That is the law you've always followed first and foremost.

ERIK DESTLER
He still calls you 'Daroga,' but it feels more like a slap in the face than the term of admiration and respect and fondness it once was. You look at each other with sad eyes and both know you abandoned everything you once knew to come here and be with him, to protect him and keep him out of harm's way. He needs someone to stand behind him, a comforting hand steady on his shoulder, a soft voice in one ear to tell him that everything is alright. You can't really blame him for being so selfish; he's never known the family you once had, the career and prestige you abandoned to trek across the globe in search of validation for him. You can't fault someone for not knowing the pull of a void they've never known. He was born with that hole, never had it filled, never known the feeling of being whole and being loved. He can't miss something that he's never had, so he doesn't know what it is that you're missing for his sake. But the corners of his melancholy eyes wrinkle with something like looks almost like happiness, appreciation, when he looks at you, and it makes your chest ache. Perhaps you'll never get back the life you left behind in the Middle East, but your life here in Paris is filled with a love that you could never regret.
GIGI DESTLER
In Gigi you see the kind soul that her brother would have possessed had the world not treated him so cruelly for so long, and your love stretches to encompass her for it. In a way, you're glad you have each other to lean on when things get too difficult; you both know how much you've given up for Erik's sake, how much he's cost you, and how gladly you'd do it all again. It's even a blessing that Erik's placed her with you in intelligence, out of the line of fire and safely at your right hand. It's no secret you favor her over Lucien, but it's also no secret that Lucien is better at getting the job done sometimes. Gigi is soft, too soft sometimes, and these past few years have hardened you. You almost want to send her away before you can see her lips lose that beautiful smile you've grown so fond of, but you'd be too cowardly to ever hurt her, too selfish to ever wish her any place but beside you.
LUCIEN ROUSSEAU
When you found Lucien, he was living in a mobile home under a bridge at the mouth of a filthy, gaping lake; practically in the sewers. Erik has insisted he find other lodgings — it's a disdain for that disgusting smell masquerading as kindness — but he carries a way about him still that's reminiscent of the life he led before, something he can't seem to shake. His eyes seem to wander while you're talking to him, taking in everything about the surroundings, avoiding meeting your gaze in an effort to instead map the area should he have to escape. Shaking hands with him seems to leave a sheen of grime on your own palm, and his smile is insincere. Slimy. You once asked him what he does best, what he could offer. 'I deal with the rats, sir.' At first, you didn't understand what he meant, but it didn't take long. Not rats of the gutter, as you had been anticipating, but the rats of the streets; traitors, double-crossers, liars, and thieves. People you hated, and hated dealing with. You've never been the most fond of Lucien either, and don't think you will be, but you suppose for the time being the enemy of your enemy must be your friend.
