Do you have any headcanons for Archie/Maxie, Steven/Wallace, and Lysandre/Sycamore?

Oh hell yeah I do. These are three of my fave ships after all. So it is going to get a bit long whoops.

I like the hc that the two are exes by the time ORAS happens and it fuels their rivalry. I definitely also like the hc that the team they used to be on together was Team Rocket, but like back in its old days when Gio was this cocky young aspiring criminal mastermind and Delia and Miyamoto were also there… good times. Archie was a grunt and Maxie was a scientist! Lots of fun spicy times back then, until they both left the team to pursue their own ambitions and grew estranged…

After ORAS they merge their teams after getting funding/support from the Aether Foundation to establish a Hoenn branch, thus becoming “Team Aether” in a sense. Since Rayquaza represents the sky and aether is the element that exists above the terrestrial sphere (like where Rayquaza lives…) it’s a fitting route for them! Like their parent foundation, Hoenn Aether focuses on conservation and pokémon rehabilitation, essentially the goals of Team Aqua and Magma but without all the extremism. Archie & Maxie are the co-leaders now and while they’re an unconventional duo they make it work and get a lot done.

Kiran was a total accident and the two weren’t even fully reconciled/back to their old relationship when Maxie found out he was expecting. Legit she was conceived only a few months post ORAS whoops. Maxie claims he’ll never forgive Archie for it, but they both love their daughter and she was in many ways what fully brought both teams together (in both the reconciliation sense and the romantic sense as I ship the admins together as well haha.)

Archie actually picked the name Kiran out (as conciliation for accidentally knocking Maxie up haha), as it can have multiple meanings in different languages. It can be from Sanskrit and means “dust” or “sunbeam”, tying into Archie’s heritage but also the Team Magma theme. As a Japanese name, the kanji used are 磯藍, meaning “seashore” and “indigo”, tying into Maxie’s heritage but also the Team Aqua theme. Archie is very proud of himself for coming up with it.

Steven and Wallace have been friends since childhood, having met through Steven’s father Joseph being old friends with Wallace’s grandfather Drake. They set out on their pokémon journey together, with Steven challenging the Hoenn League and Wallace aiming for that year’s Grand Festival. However, after Steven’s other father, Célestin, passes away that year Steven decides to go to Sinnoh rather than remain in Hoenn and be stuck at home with Joseph, who he had a strained relationship with at that point. Wallace of course goes with him, sympathizing with his friend as he’d lost his own parents unexpectedly in a storm some years previously.

While in Sinnoh the two end up befriending Cynthia, though she and Steven are initially rather antagonistic rivals. They’ll deny this as adults and claim they’ve always gotten along (Wallace is quick to correct them every time.)

The two were dating and had been for quite a long time by ORAS, though they hadn’t tied the knot yet. I do like the idea of them getting engaged during the events of the game, then getting married the summer after, either not long before the Delta Episode happens or right after. Steven would have been happy with a small event but Wallace of course wanted a huge wedding. I’m sure there was plenty of fun drama thanks to all the coordinators who attended (coughHarleycough).

When it came to choosing names for their children, Steven wanted rock names of course, while Wallace was more reluctant about those, wanting nice elegant names. In the end, they came up with two rock names and two non-rock names (one of each for both masculine and feminine names). Wallace did quality control the rock names though since he didn’t want Steven choosing any “weird” ones like Bort or something. Since their first children were twins, they used one of each - Maia for the girl (after May) and Jasper for the boy. Wallace ends up using the other name he picked out for their next child, a son named Alphonse. Steven was gunning for another child so he could use Larimar, but since that didn’t happen (Wallace was firm that three was enough) he’s set his sights on their first grandchild getting that name.

I hc Lysandre as being a bit younger than Augustine, so they first met in a more mentor/student capacity back in Lysandre’s research days. He admired Augustine’s research and was excited for the chance to work with him. They quickly became friends and that eventually led to romance. However, they became a bit more distant after Lysandre left to start his own company, mainly due to both being busier than ever and no longer working together. They remained a couple, but there was a bit of a rift there that led to Augustine not noticing Lysandre slip further and further into extreme views.

Their son was conceived shortly before Lysandre enacted his plan to use the ancient weapon, intended to be a final intimate moment before the world changed forever. Instead of that happening though, of course, Augustine was left finding out he was expecting after the final battle, when Lysandre was presumed dead. He had assumed his symptoms were due to grief and shock at everything that happened, but finding out the true cause was another rollercoaster of emotions. He keeps it a secret for as long as he can, but eventually others noticed and while he never does outright say who the other parent is… it’s pretty obvious to anyone since he had always happily broadcasted his relationship with Lysandre. When their son is born, Augustine chooses to name him Florian as a way to honor his (presumed) late partner.

Of course, in this verse, Lysandre wasn’t actually dead but had rather been spending time rethinking his life choices in “so you tried to destroy the world, what now?” bootcamp with AZ. He does eventually decide to come back like five years later and is certainly surprised when he finds out he has a kid. There are a lot of road bumps but things eventually work out and he and Augustine get back together. (There’s more on this in Florian’s profile.)

Augustine’s red socks were a gift from Lysandre for his birthday that Lys was very apologetic about since he thought they weren’t enough, so to prove that any gift from Lys was perfect, Augustine has regularly worn them ever since.

Alain and Calem are Augustine’s nephews in this verse and while their grandparents became their primary guardians after their mother passed away, Augustine was always more of a father figure to them, as was Lysandre after he and Augustine started dating. So, in some sense they had a bit of practice parenting before Florian came along, though due to everything their relationship with their nephews is complicated.

Disney decendants pokemon teams.

Note due to having pokemon some stuff will cause the canon to differ from the movie.Will also be putting in info from the books that the movies left out such as the talismans. This will make itself more clear in the descriptions of why and how they got each pokemon. Also going with most canon couple like mal/ ben and evie/ Doug.

First up is Mal daughter of Malificent and Hades.!

1. Espeon- Mal found her partner as a injured eevee when she was 8. She hid it from her mother and nursed it back to health. This led it it bonding with her. She finally caught it when she wad 9 and found a pokeball in the garbage barge. When she first met Ben after going to Auradon it immediately evolved into a espeon while Ben's eevee evolved into a Umbreon. This indicated a possible true love connection between the two. The next day it was revealed that Ben had broken up with his then girlfriend Audrey.

2. Chandelure- On her 12th birthday she found a litwick in a pokeball outside her window with a birthday card. It was unsigned but she kept the pokemon anyway since she thought it was cool looking. Under her care and battle training regime it evolved into a chandelure quite quickly. It was later revealed that it was a gift from her father Hades.

3. Absol- Saved this pokemon from her mothers cruel care. Her mother was determined to make Mal as strong a trainer as herself even if it took cruel training to make it happen. Orginally Malificent was going to brutally train the absol until it was up to her standards but Mal saw it and it reminded her of herself. It looked just as exshasuted, hurt,and sad as she normally looked in her mother care so she and her eevee decided to try and free it. However since Mal was the only human being to ever show it any kindness it stuck to her. At first Mal was disgruntled by it not listening to her when she told it to run but eventually just decided to keep it on her team. Due to previous harsh training by Malificent and then proper training by Mal it is a very strong battle pokemon.

4. Alcremie( strawberry) - Shortly after her and Ben began to date Ben noticed her love for strawberries. So he got her a milcery and gave it a strawberry candy. Then he gave it to Mal and it evolved into a alcremie. Although it is normally something she would consider to cutesy for her she actually fell in love with it. She dotes on it when others aren't looking. It constantly gives her strawberries and cream as a snack. Despite its looks however Mal trained it up just like all her other Pokemon so it is extremely strong.

5. Rayquaza- After her and her friends retevied their parents talismans from the isle they were orginally going to put them into the museum under security for protection. However inlike her friends Mals was a dragon type pokemon egg. After fairy godmother checked for any curses or dark magic she told mal that it was clean. This meant that what ever was in it was a strong pokemon the Malificent was probably planning on turning dark after it hatched. She asked Mal to keep it and raise it right. After 2 weeks of caring for the egg it shockingly hatched and to everyones surprise it was Rayquaza. No one knows how Malificent got her hands on it but they are extremely glad it did not hatch in her care.

6. Lunala- During her battle with Evil Audrey Lunala came to her to aid in the fight, while Solgaleo went to Ben. At first Mal wanted to release it after the fighting was over but it wished to stay at her side to help her rule as the new Queen of both auradon and the Isle.

Chapter 4 of “Travelling with the Sun and Moon”

It was their first night out in Alola when the storm hit. It was powerful, unforgiving, and came out of nowhere according to all reports. Trike and Raine had been resting together just at the edge of their campground when a huge wave caused by a mudslide further upriver had snatched them and washed them away. While they should have been killed, they somehow managed to survive and were washed ashore a nearby island. Waking up on the edges of a beach where some Pokemon both were unfamiliar with seemed to be living, the father and daughter made it their goal to survive in the wilds as best they could. However, it meant that Raine had to grow up fast.

They were in luck, though. It seemed that Trike and Raine were able to make more friends than foes while they were at this unknown island, meeting Pokemon that seemed to care for their well being and even become close friends with one another and learn about the region they were now in. As Raine grew stronger with the training her father provided her and the love and support from him and their friends, the young Zorua evolved into a much stronger and more agile Zoroark. With her new strength, she could now fight with more confidence and could disguise herself with her illusions to try and locate some information from the humans that were near their makeshift den.

A few weeks into their sudden adventure without their trainer or team, Raine was gifted a mysterious egg suddenly by a shiny Dragonair on an early morn. Many of the Pokemon they talked to thought it might be a Spinarak or even a Rayquaza, but what actually hatched after a few days was a hybrid. The newly hatched hybrid was a Riolu and Natu fusion with an odd palette. Being the combination of Pokemon known for aura reading and prophetic abilities, Ra was quick to pick up on various skills as well as give warnings to things that might go awry. He was even able to predict the reunion between Trike and Raine with Pursuit before he even knew him.

However, while his predictions seemed to be rather accurate, he wishes that they weren’t. After his encounter with Trike and Pursuit’s doubles and their teammates, Ra had grown rather quiet and distant from the pack. While he would return to them when he became hungry, he would disappear for days to meditate and try to focus on one vision that he kept losing focus for… He saw a vision of himself losing control.. Of himself hurting someone, but he didn’t know who...

After disappearing for a month to try and make sense of this vision and to try and control his emotions, Raine welcomed him back with a hug and joy since she had worried about her young pup. Ra was stunned how much his mother had worried over him after pushing her and his grandfathers away for so long, that for the first time in awhile he let himself express his emotions. He cried and held on to his mother’s pelt, apologizing and telling her he was scared of what he saw. Though surprised by the confession, Raine assured him that no matter what happens that she and their friends will support him and help him if that day ever came to pass.

Since that moment, Ra has been training alongside his mother, working to perfect his fighting skills though he still lacks a mentor to help him control his psychic abilities. He compensates for what he can by meditating, though he occasionally needs to snap himself out of trances when his visions get too intense.

His most recent one, he is unsure if it is of the future, the past, or the present; but he saw a large Pokemon shuffling aimlessly in a large corridor before a canine made of white and green scales starts to carry them away despite their smaller size. He is not sure what it means, but he feels that they are to somehow find these two… that they need help…

...but where are they?

Rayquaza flew over to Devyn and nudged his face on hers. At first, he hadn’t realized that she had a present for him. He was mostly just happy to see his daughter.

Good day, little one. I am thrilled to see that one of my children has come to visit one such as myself.

That’s when THEN he saw the meteorite that Devyn was gifting him. The dragon gave out a hearty laugh.

Is such for me? Such is quite lovely of you, my daughter. You spoil me even to this day. In fact, I have something for you as well....

Rayquaza rose and swiftly flew up. There was no sign of him for a moment until.. suddenly, the dragon appeared from below. He was holding a plush of an Alolan Raichu.

I have heard from your mother that your favorite Pokemon was that of a Raichu, thus, I now offer this gift to celebrate your Day of Giving. Happy Holidays, my wonderful daughter.

HE’S SCARED.

FOUR LEVELS DEEP UNDERGROUND, THIS ROOM IS VASTLY DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER ONE. It is small, cold, and dark. No windows, no lights, not even the faintest sliver of warmth or light slips through the tiny gaps in the room’s reinforced cell door. The door had no knobs or handles on it from the inside either. The only other opening is a small, locked slot door, only big enough to fit a food tray.

The only thing that accompanies him is complete darkness, and the metal groans of the deep basement. With 01 and HIKARI freed, he had hopes that they would soon come back for him, with reinforcements and allies in tow. He must remain positive, even as the darkness and isolation slowly chokes his mind.

THEY WON’T FORGET. OH, PLEASE DON’T FORGET. but the circle will swallow that hope up.

The door slides open, and a tall figure steps in, prompting Kubo to slowly lift his head away from his knees.

“ I HEAR YOU’VE CAUSED QUITE A BIT OF TROUBLE, GRANDSON. ”

Kubo is silent. Standing behind Raiden is his aunts, and three subordinate grunts.

“ JUST LIKE YOUR MOTHER TO BE THAT WAY, ” Chortles Raiden, hands interlaced. “ Your aunts suggested that you be properly punished for this misbehavior, but I thought, no, no, it’d be far too soon for that. After all, although its further imprisonment would serve to keep it from hindering our plans, the ALPHA is no longer needed. It has already served its purpose to us. ”

Kubo remains silent, but continues to fix an angered glare, challenging the elder.

“ YES ... and then I decided a BETTER course of action. After all, we are so close to succeeding in our mission that we might as well prepare for it. And Kubo, I realized that you have provided us with a special little ‘ gift ’ that might just secure our goal all the more. Despite the setbacks, I believe with this you have ultimately ... redeemed yourself. ”

His brow raises slightly, the slightest hints of a questioning look melding on his face.

“ COME WITH ME. It is time I showed you, grandson, how far we have come. ”

WHETHER HE WOULD HAVE AGREED OR NOT, they take him to the deepest level of the base: FIVE LEVELS BELOW THE SURFACE OF THE EARTH. Here, the hallways are substantially wider. The ceiling is taller. Massive rooms with large glass windows are found here. Unlike the levels above, it is brightly illuminated with fluorescent lighting.

Eventually, they come to a great hall, so big that a WAILORD could probably move around in it with ease. The walls are completely reinforced, secured by several layers of chrome-like material. Judging by the size, Kubo wondered aloud: “ IS THIS A STADIUM? ”

Raiden does not answer him. Kubo’s aunts and two of the subordinates file into a room with glass window, leaving him, his grandfather, and the third grunt in the stadium.

“ BRING OUT THE ULTRA BEAST. ”

KUBO FEELS HIS STOMACH TWIST.

From the other side of the stadium, the door slides open, and two men, donning strange suits and protective wear, emerge holding a familiar creature’s container. Within the hexagonal tube, HANZO has stopped screaming. The tube is placed on a sleek cylindrical pedestal, which drains the gelatinous fluid that had kept the KARTANA from moving.

“ HANZO! ”

Kubo cries out to it, but he is held back by powerful hand when he tries to sprint for his companion, worry and anxiety surging into his gut. The grunt tears him backward.

“ OH, so you DO know this creature, do you, grandson? Even given it a name. I’m assuming you have quite a lot of sentiment for such an otherworldly monster? ”

“ WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH HIM, ” Kubo hisses, “ You can’t take him away, he’s too powerful. I’VE SEEN IT -- ”

“ 𝕂𝕀𝕀 - 𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸ℂℍ! ”

HANZO SCREAMS, and flings itself against the remaining glass around the container. It’s handlers flinch as the glass cracks. IT WANTS OUT. They heard their boy call to them and they want OUT. Wretched BASTARDS --

The glass shatters, and Hanzo zooms across the stadium towards RAIDEN.

Raiden pulls a ball from his hip. Its design was unlike anything KUBO had seen before -- a dark sphere, with ridges sticking outward on its top and bottom, and lines criss-crossing around it like a net.

“𝐈 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐒.”

FROM THE POKEBALL, A LARGE CREATURE EMERGES. A HUGE BEAST, with a body made of steel and a neck as tall as bamboo trunks. Flames shoot from the underside of two pillar-like rockets. Her celestial grace is shattered by the sphere that contained her, cloaking her beauty with a dark and sinister aura. A FEMININE SCREECH TEARS FROM HER THROAT.

“ 𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸ℍ! ”

HER CANNONS TURN AND AIM FOR THE KARTANA, and they fire. However, Hanzo is too quick -- the other ULTRA BEAST quickly twists out of the path of the blast, and the fiery blaze strikes the reinforced wall on the other side of the stadium, stirring up a veil of smoke.

With a screech of their own, Hanzo turns for her. The two begin a cyclic dance of chaos -- one that, much to his horror, Kubo is helpless to witness. Despite her huge size, the CELESTEELA is quick, propelled by the fiery rockets. But Hanzo is quicker and more agile. They could twist and turn much easier at high speeds than she, and thus she finds that her powerful strikes miss her foe to often.

MEANWHILE, Hanzo was landing as many strikes as he could. Yet, his blade, weakened from a lack of food, could not slice through the celesteela’s otherworldly metal. SACRED SWORD only left a few scratches and nicks in the other beast’s armor.

Their dance was dragging on. RAIDEN, seeing that neither creature had begun to tire yet, gives a subtle nod of the head to his subordinate.

SUDDENLY the youth is shoved violently forwards, and he tumbles to his knees onto the stadium floor, where the battle rages overhead. He doesn’t even have the time to bark back and question the sudden roughness -- it would all play out too quickly.

“ 𝐒𝐔𝐁𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐔𝐁 - 𝟎𝟒 - 𝟏 , 𝐒𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐂𝐇 𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐓. 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑. ”

COLD AND CALCULATING, the ULTRA BEAST switches target as commanded, her cannons rotating away from the KARTANA and instead pointing toward the twelve year-old boy thrown out into the middle of the battlefield. Her body slowly twists to join them.

The coldest, most unsettling chill finds its way down his spine. Once a proud, strong and confident young man. Now here he was, a CHILD, rendered defenseless and feeble. His eye gapes as the last of his bravado is stripped away -- he now stares 𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐇 in the face.

THE FLAMES BUILD IN HER ROCKETS WITH A ROAR, like a ferocious beast about to strike. Her foe -- the noble warrior -- notices. There is death -- it bares its fangs at their RED ONE again. 𝑵𝑶 -- they can’t let it happen again! HANZO rockets toward, speeding like a bullet between the steel damsel and her prey.

THE IMAGE FLICKERS IN HIS HEAD AGAIN -- the paper beast emerges while lightning cracks behind -- Hanzo’s tiny little figure gracing before him to shield the boy from the SALAMENCE’S DRAGONBREATH. The blood, RAYQUAZA’S angry roar -- the battle that threatened to tear apart their friendship.

In that one single moment, the world around him seemed to slow. HANZO came between the two of them, acting as a barrier even as a fiery blaze awaited them. Their limbs outstretched as far as possible, they welcomed the flames.

Then a BOOM and a VEIL OF SMOKE consumes the stadium. Then the air is filled with the KARTANA’S choking SCREAM, bringing the chaos to a still if only for a moment. Celesteela’s armored cannons die down, and she hovers their quietly, indifferent to the other beast’s sacrifice.

KUBO has shielded his face, hiding his eye from sight until the smoke has begun to clear. As the shroud dissipates, he finds HANZO, its small figure blackened by the flames and its folds crippled and crinkled inwards. Like lifeless paper it floats to the stadium floor.

“ HANZO -- ” The boy was about to fly to his beast, a pang of fear driving a nail into his heart that the beast was dead. BUT OH -- a dark blur flies between them. Raiden’s footsteps are heard, and then, a sphere flies in to consume the ULTRA BEAST in red light.

“ NO -- ” But he doesn’t react in time. Kubo gasps in horror as HANZO disappears into a pokeball. The sphere rattles on the ground for all about five seconds, and for the first time, he hopes, PRAYS even, that it might break free. BUT HIS PRAYER IS NOT HEARD --

THE BALL GIVES A RESOUNDING CLICK.

THE EMOTIONS THAT SURGE THROUGH HIM ARE ALMOST OVERWHELMING. Kubo stares for a moment, completely in shock -- while his grandfather retrieves the newly captured ULTRA BEAST. He watches Raiden pluck it from the ground, and chuckle fiendishly. IT MADE HIM SO ANGRY.

“ YOU MONSTERS! ”

HE TRIES TO TACKLE RAIDEN TO THE GROUND. Amazingly, it works, but only because he had the elder off the ground. “ GIVE HIM BACK! YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO HIM! GIVE HIM BACK, HOW DARE YOU -- ”

The next thing he knows, he is grabbed, tossed aside, and shoved onto the ground with a forceful hand, his head pressed against the floor. The violent strike pushes away his rage and instead strikes FEAR -- he’s so angry, but he’s so afraid, it’s pathetic, but he can’t fight the instinct to SCREAM. The boy cries out, unable to stuff down the tears leaking in his eyes.

“ 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐍 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇! ” RAIDEN hissed, pressing the child’s head deeper into the floor with his free hand. “ 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓, 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐎 𝐊𝐄𝐄𝐏 𝐈𝐓 𝐒𝐀𝐅𝐄? 𝐅𝐎𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐇 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃 -- 𝐈 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝑾𝑰𝑺𝑬𝑹 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑! "

Kubo whimpers beneath Raiden’s hold.

THE SUBORDINATES run up to join their superior, and Raiden slowly releases his grip. His grandson tries to scuttle way, concealing his tearful face by his disheveled locks of hair. Unfortunately he cannot escape -- two grunts reach to grab him by the arms and pull him up to his feet, and they pull him away from the enraged elder.

Raiden slowly recollects himself, joined by his two masked daughters. Behind the cover of their masks, they scowl.

“ BESIDES -- you should be GLAD! Because of you I now have TWO ULTRA BEASTS in my possession to use. You have done a great service to me. In time -- you will come to be proud of this little mishap. ”

This got a bit long, so anything in bold is original/canon-divergent.

May was born on September 28th to Norman and Caroline Takagi. Norman worked on the docks, constantly surrounded by his Pokémon, who would help him with the cargo, which constantly encouraged Norman to get stronger, a mindset that he tried to pass on to his daughter, along with a love of Pokemon. May grew up with a large love of them, especially Amphy, the Ampharos who keeps the Olivine City lighthouse lit with its power. At their home, they had a Joleteon and a Chansey that protected the young May from going too far. As a result, May learned the early basics on how to handle Pokémon, although Jolteon preferred her mother and May was often the victim of light shocks from the creature.

Regardless, May was a social butterfly, throwing herself into any social situations she could, which caused some anxiety for her mother, but ultimately amused both of her parents. May did get into a bit of trouble as a child, getting swept up in a bit of danger when out with Jolteon one day. Bandits that had snuck aboard one of the ships coming from Unova burst into the café May had stopped at on her way home. Jolteon, along with other Pokémon of the other customers, managed to keep the intruders at bay until the police arrived. This solidified May’s desire to become a Pokémon trainer herself, and she’d mentally began preparing for the day she would go to New Bark Town and get a Pokémon from Professor Elm. On her birthday, her parents took her to New Bark Town and May selected Chikorita as her starter Pokémon, returning back to Olivine City to start her journey from home. May planned her strategy to beat the Olivine City Gym Leader, Jasmine, but before she could, everything changed.

When May was 12 years old, Norman got the call he had secretly been waiting a lifetime for: The chance to run his own gym. However, it wouldn’t be the gym in Olivine City, no, this was the Petalburg City Gym in Hoenn, which meant to a devastated May that their family would be moving and that she wouldn’t be completing her Johto adventure. Her father left a few days before they did, to get himself settled in Petalburg City. May, Chikorita, and her mother followed afterward.

Her first day in Hoenn was... interesting to say the least. She left Chikorita at home to help her mother finish unpacking some of the smaller boxes and went to explore Littleroot Town, which was a culture shock in itself, being so small, but the small saving grace was Brendan, her neighbor and the son of Professor Birch. Upon saving the Pokémon professor from being harmed by a Poocheyna, May was gifted with a Torchic, and told about the Hoenn league. She and Brendan quickly became rivals but May just considered his rivalry another adventure.

You know how it goes. May ended up embroiled in Team Aqua’s plans, constantly working to stop them along with Steven Stone, and went along getting her gym badges, until she finally tracked Team Aqua down at an undersea cave.

She was too late though, and Archie managed to awaken the sleeping giant, so to speak. Kyogre was awake and causing torrential downpours all over the Hoenn reason - and was completely out of control, despite Archie having the Blue Orb. May once again had to step in and eventually managed to calm the beast, going so far as to capture it in a Pokéball to settle it completely. She got her final badge after that, but before facing the Elite Four, there was one thing she wanted to do first: Return Kyogre to its resting place, which she did, and Kyogre slumbers once more. With that done, May made her way to Victory Road, where she defeated the Elite Four and Steven, who was the Champion all along. Her total journey took approximately one year and six months.

A year after becoming Champion, May was once again pulled into Team Aqua nonsense and eventually chased a grunt named Zinnia, who was desperate to summon Rayquaza to stop the coming meteorite that was threatening to slam into the planet and destroy Hoenn. In order to win Rayquaza over, May had no choice but to capture the revered Pokémon, before launching into space with it. The meteorite turned out to be another legendary Pokémon, Deoxys, whom May defeated in battle. Finally, things were at peace, and May returned home after releasing Rayquaza at the Sky Pillar. As a thank you, Rayquaza gave May its Mega Stone, agreeing to come whenever she needs it, as Latias did.

At the age of 16, May took a year off of being Champion of Hoenn, with Wallace taking her place as a temporary measure, and returned to where her journey should have started: Johto, and defeated the Elite Four there as well, but passed on being the Champion.

Afterwards, May returned to Hoenn and resumed her duties as Champion until she turned 18, before growing bored and restless and passing the title on to Wally, who defeated her in a hard-fought battle. Currently, you can find May traveling the other regions. She’s also researching the Pokedex for Professor Birch, still in competition with Brendan for who will complete it first.
