HEIGHT: 178cm / 5′10″ (looks taller as Shadow due to hair / boots... also I think this show pulls a Jojo sometimes and character heights are subjective to the situation bc he looks HUGE compared to the other characters at times)

WEIGHT: Only 73kg / 160lbs canonically but I refuse to believe that... there’s no way a hefty dude like him weighs so little. I think 170-180 AT LEAST is more reasonable for him, considering his size.

BODY TYPE: HIM BIG. Brawny and top-heavy. Broad-shouldered, muscular and somewhat toned but still a bit of chub - think rugby player build. Finding pants in Japan is a STRUGGLE cuz he’s tall and he ass too big. Skating is probably great for the buns and thighs tho

SKIN: Sorta medium beige with cool undertones. Would be SO cute with a farmer’s tan 🥺 Paints his nails sometimes. No real tattoos or piercings because he's too babie (I think he has a tongue ring only bc he lost a bet or had a rebellious streak when he was younger)

Bestie, this is possibly the worst thing I've ever written. I don't think you understand how much I wanted to scream of secondhand embarrassment while working on this. But here it is!

Reki drops his chin on Langa's shoulder, his whole weight pressing into Langa's back.

"Langa... I gotta tell you something, man. And it's like, super-duper important."

Langa hums as he pats Reki on the cheek. His eyes are still glued on Reki's bookshelf, looking for a specific book to reread, but his attention is fully devoted to Reki. "Yes, Reki?"

"Okay, so don't take this the wrong way but," he buries his face in Langa's shoulder, voice muffled by fabric, "I might be lil bit gay. Bi maybe?" He whimpers before lifting his head, his loud voice booming through his room. "Boys! I think I like boys!"

Langa blinks and gapes at him. Was this supposed to be news to him? Was he supposed to act surprised? Was the fact that his boyfriend of over a month liked boys supposed to be some shocking revelation?

Langa knows that he has the habit of getting confused over trivial things, but this confession? Langa has no explanation for it. Part of him even wonders if he understood correctly, if the quick translations were right.

"Why are you telling me this now?"

"Because you're my best friend, dude. Obviously."

So much was fair, Langa supposes. Reki had never really come out to him, never really put a label on his sexuality, but Langa hadn't thought it very important. Lots of people don't put a strict label on themselves, just living as themselves. And Langa had considered Reki accepting his confession as enough of a confirmation that he wasn't straight. It didn't matter if his boyfriend identified as gay, bi, pan, or queer of some sort. All that really mattered was that he liked him and that they could continue going out on dates and coming home to movies and cuddles.

Langa pinches the bridge of his nose, inhaling sharply. He needs to do this right. He needs to say what Reki wants to hear.

"So, you like guys."

"Is that a problem?"

"Well, I mean-"

"Oh my god," Reki falls back onto his floor. His eyes are huge and... Langa isn't sure what that look means. "You're homophobic!"

Langa recoils at the word. Homophobic. Reki was calling him homophobic.

"I'm gay?"

Reki blinks at him. His eyes are still big, but confusion seems to haze them. He seems even more confused than Langa.

"Homosexual," Langa clarifies. "Not phobic."

"You're... gay?"

Why did Reki sound so surprised? Langa had made no effort in concealing how terribly gay he was. Did he think that Langa was-?

"What gave you the impression that I wasn't?"

The silence is almost unbearable as Reki pulls on the sleeves of his hoodie. The silence is unnatural in the usually loud house and Langa wants nothing more than to break it. So he does.

"Reki, Sunshine, Darling, most beautiful human being," he inhales again, both hands in his face before staring Reki in the face, "when I said I loved you, what do you think that meant?"

"I don't know? That you loved me as a friend? They do it in American shows, and Canada isn't that different from the US."

Langa sighs as he gets up. Defeated doesn't even begin to describe what he's feeling.

"That's it. I'm done here. I'm going home to go scream into my closet and possibly go stuff myself back into it."

"No!" Reki grabs Langa's ankles before he can walk away. "Don't go!"

Langa stares at him, the boy sprawled across his floor.

"I like you too?"

Langa stares at the grinning boy, his pretty face completely flushed as the words leave his lips. Langa stares until he's pursing his lips and sighing, shaking his head at Reki's antics. "You... are so lucky you're cute because you're extremely infuriating right now."

"But you love me!"

Langa plops back down onto the floor, Reki moving closer to him. "Unfortunately. So... we're dating for real this time, right?"

Reki grins as he cuddles closer, arms wrapping around Langa's middle as he rests his head on his shoulder. "Only if you agree to go out on a date with me this weekend. I'll make sure it's awesome!"

Langa chuckles as he buries his face in Reki's hair. "They always are, even when you're unaware that they're dates."

Langa on the other hand is a person who can fall asleep anytime and anywhere and when he comes over to Reki for a sleepover he always makes sure to trick Reki into going to sleep early

Miya uses cat emojis all the time

Joe doesn't really like modern technology and he avoids it as much as he can - he writes in a paper calendar, he uses his phone for texting and calling only and he buys a newspaper everyday. He's also super frustrated when it comes to social media and Cherry's the one who takes photos of Joe's meals to post them on Sia la luce Instagram account

okay so. rarijack was like. my first real introduction to gay was via ninjago fanfiction i accidentally stumbled upon, but it wasn't a great fic so i didn't think much of it. then, i found myself shipping rarity and applejack even tho they were both girls. i didn't know why, and for awhile, i just. didn't think about it and simply shipped them. but this has been a comfort ship since 2013. it fills me with great joy and makes me all giddy and flappy hands and like. it's the epitome of opposites attract and being able to love someone... somepony despite being so different, learning to love what they love simply because your partner loves it. it's understanding someone on such a deep level that you can say "honestly, i don't know why you're giving me your frowny eyebrows". like. f r o w n y e y e b r o w s. to know someone so well that you can tell the different moods by their eyebrows. it's being willing to give up what you want for love, wanting the one you love to take care of themself. putting their happiness above your own until they make you take care of yourself... i just. i love rarijack so much. they are everything to me. my internet friend beth made me two rarijack stickers on redbubble and they're my favorite stickers on my laptop.

2. zukka

is anyone surprised? they mean so much to me. i love them so much. they're so important to me. sometimes, i self-project onto sokka so much that it reminds me that i'm worth loving, if that makes sense? there's so much good in zukka, so much learning and self-discovery and recovery and pure love and just. okiuhgyfdgyhuijop. my brain isn't working great right now, so that's all imma say for now, but i have so much more that i can say. brain just says no :/

3. renga

is anyone surprised? to be honest, renga is a lot of self-projection??? like. i want a langa in my life. ftgyuhioiuygfg as dumb and selfish as that may sound, i just love the way that they love each other. it's so passionate, but so natural. they love eachother and naturally as they breathe. they both brought each other happiness and meaning. reki gave langa the spark of life he was missing and langa gave reki someone who genuinely cares about what he has to say... there's just so much good and pureness in it. i love them. so much.

I only started watching SK8, so maybe it's a little too early for me talk, but after your last analysis and some of your past rants... there's also the fact that Reki and Langa have no chemistry AT ALL. Like, I've seen more chemistry in water alone! Sure, they're pretty much joined by the hip now, but I would be that way with my first random friend if I moved to another country at the other side of the world, like Langa did. And I get that it's already canon that Langa has a crush on Reki, but c'mon! These are teenagers, their hormones are all over the place 24/7. And it's obvious that Reki does not reciprocate. Even if he is into guys, he obviously doesn't see Langa as someone he is remotely attracted to.

I think my main issue with the ship so far is that their personalities do not click. Comparing them to RinHaru (because the parallels ARE right there), Rin is sassy, but also sensitive and easily embarrassed; Haru is aloof and stoic, but can be hella stubborn if you put him in the right situation. Those are some traits for an interesting dynamic, and they also have in common that they are passionate about what they love, and determinated. Reki and Langa are... not it.

Langa is sweet, calm, chill, and clueless about a whole lot of things (including feelings); Reki is friendly and cheerful and all, but he's also chill and clueless. The contrast is only superficial, where's the flavor?!

I don't know, at this point I'm shipping Miya and that ex-childhood friend of his better than Renga, even the pre-teens have more depth. I keep waiting something magical will happen that will make me like Renga better, because I see the IDEA they had for their relationship, I LIKE that idea, but the result has not been great. (So far.) (I'm keeping myself optimistic.)

Langa’s relationship with Reki remind me of a puppy and the owner one (and clearly the puppy is more attached lol), not the two boyfriends, who want to be in a relationships, and they definitely do not have any sexual chemistry. Like seriously ANY.

And yeah, I said the same, they might have gotten the Rinharu scenes, but they lack all the dynamic, the passion for each other, the mutual thirst to be with each other, and just all the greatest parts. 

To me comparing these is like comparing a burger to two plain buns. Like technically it fits, but the best part and all the sauce is missing. 

Besides what’s even to compare... it’s like Reki has eyes on a boat girl, when Langa is next to him. Rin and Haru have their eyes on each other only since they were 12. Rin writes about how he’s the most beautiful thing he ever seen in his school essays and tells his australian parents not about his swimming, but how pretty and cool he is. Haru just doesn’t react to anyone in that way. It’s like all he sees is Rin, but also the only one who excites him is also Rin.

And can you imagine Rin drooling over some girl while Haru is next to him? LMFAO. Or Haru when Rin is next to him? Like a pretty girl once told him how great his muscles are and he was like “ok thanks I guess”, but then he checks Rin out 24/7 saying how great his muscles are, how he’s jelly of his strong strokes and how his legs are amazing and strong. And they didn’t even notice that one time that there was no water in the pool while they were both staring at each other undressing... like....?

And true, like we don’t even know if Reki’s interested in men, it really doesn’t look like he is. If he were bi, he’d react to Langa or idk Cherry the same way he reacted to the boat girl, I mean, have you see them? And no, reacting to his skating is not the same. Literally every sports anime has smth like this, so let’s not. It’s like everyone thinks Haru’s swimming is oh so pretty, but only one keeps talking about how his eyes are worth drowning into lol.

I don’t see Reki reciprocating the romantic feelings, too, and even if he somehow will in these last 3 episodes, it’s certainly already just not my type of a ship. Cause I don’t see Langa being his everything. He’s just not. This ship is just not for me I guess. 

Right now to me it’s like... everything is wrong with the reused Rinharu scenes lmao. It’s like someone replaced my favorite fries with papier mache ones. I also like still keep my heart open for maybe.. just maybe something extraordinary will happen in the last episodes and everything will fall in the right place, but I do not have a scenario for this to get much better.

Rinharu are obsessed with each other 24/7, they dreamt to be together since childhood and were the only thing on each other’s mind since the day they met. No Rin, no Haru are interested in winning more than in swimming with each other, they were also longing and drooling for each other so much, that the whole city knew it from both sides. And even when they had a misunderstandings each time they see each other it’s explosive and you see how much they want to touch, stay, and they both look at each other like... ugh.

Rin saw Haru’s talent and it pushed him to become even greater, Reki saw Langa’s talent and wilted, etc. I just feel like comparing these to each other is just unfair. Esp Reki and Rin. Reki is a kid, Rin stopped being a kid when his dad died, he’s also way too focused on getting what he wants in life.

Rin and Haru’s relationships are adult’s stuff, they also knew they wanted each other from the beginning. I mean, Rin even transferred schools for Haru when he was like 12. Reki and Langa’s realtionship are like new school friends thingy. That’s just some of our scenes are there, but it’s like depths of these scenes are incomparable. 

Also these like immature middle-school “why I’m not as cool emotions”... I’m waaaaaaay passed this, that’s all.

Anyways, yeah, I’ve already thought this through and decided that maybe we better try and not compare them at all, otherwise it’s just gonna be a huge loss without giving them any chance. It’s still can be like as cute as that Stride ship, I mean, I was like “cute”, but then I do forget about it almost always tho so xD. To each their own.

To be fair, i can understand why there are people calling the show gaybait, especially after you find out the director is the person who directed free! And with animes like given and bloom into you, it isn't like they can't be direct in saying this relationship is romantic or this character is gay, the people writing and creating this show are actively choosing not to

yep i totally get where ur coming from !! and i 100% get wanting shows where they dont make such a fuss out of just confirming that certain characters are gay when theyve been clearly written with that sexuality in mind, but i just ..... idk how to word it and idk if uve seen the anime hibike euphonium, but that anime to me was the definition of gaybaiting, they completely disregarded the very clear romantic undertones in the 2 girls relationship to make her get with a boy she clearly had no interest in whatsoever (like that was a major part of their relationship) . and in contrast to that, i think that sk8 the infinity has no motive to undermine reki and langa's relationship whatsoever? as in .... no matter if its explicitly stated tha langa is gay and reki is bi, the show makes it the focus to show how deep and profound their relationship is through the motif of skating, rather than just upright stating that they are a Thing, it doesnt give off 'are they gay or aren't they gay' energy at all because the show is honestly pretty obvious abt how the feelings between the 2 boys (and matchablossom in this matter) are clearly more than just friendship, so the active decision to not state that theyre gay doesnt feel off to me ? that being said, if they Do end up explicitly saying that langa has feelings for reki in a romantic way, all the better !!!! thats fucking awesome and casually using term like gay and casually having explicit romance is wonderful and should be normalised!!!! but , for sk8 the infinity, not saying it outright doesnt really take anything away from the show (for me personally) ,,

also also, anime like given and bloom into you were marketed as gay romances whereas sk8 the infinity was only marketed as an anime abt skating, which is exactly what it is ! so i think we are very lucky to see the boys relationship unfold through their love and passion for skating alongside having skating be the main biggest theme !:^) i only watched like 1 season of free! literally yeaaaaars ago so i cant rly comment on that tho, it might be that this is a running theme w this director i have no idea lmaoo, but from Just watching sk8 the infinity, this is my stance on it :)

okay. this is hard. so imma say three brotps. this is really hard wow. i love sokka's friendship with so many people.

first, imma say sokka & katara. i love their sibling relationship so freaking much. they just love and care for each other so freaking much and they kind of remind me of my sister and me at times. she would probably kill me for saying that, but they do. i feel a fondness towards katara similar to my sister and just. ahhhh. they also balance each other out really well and they know each other so well so they know how to piss the other off but they also know how to recognize the signs of genuine anger v playful not actually angry anger and know when to stop and they know how to cheer the other up and just. i love them.

next is sokka & jet. if you know me, you know i love a good sokka & jet frenemy friendship. i did wrote 13.somethingk words about that this summer and there's a lot of it in chapters 4-6 of elbdtd. they just have this natural hatred of each other, but they cannot bring themselves to actually hate them. i think, on some level, they're both just insecure and jealous of what the other has: sokka wants respect and to be valued, jet has respect and the freedom fighters value him. jet wants family and to make a difference, sokka still has katara and his dad (to an extent because... war) and the avatar wants his help. but they also are both really protective people, and i love the thought of them protecting each other without realizing it. just in little ways. it's just. ahhhhhhh so good !

third, sokka & mai. i just think that sokka helping mai grow comfortable in her voice and mai making sokka feel heard is something so personal (... look it may remind me a bit of grace and i, at least i can speak from the making me feel hard bit iuhghuio) and they are just. one of the purest examples of we're friends because all of our friends are friends and we dated the same guy (well,,, sokkka is still dating him lol) and then finding little ways to bond over it and realizing that although they both present themselves in different ways (sokka to compensate for what he feels he lacks and mai because she was trained to hide), and then finding out that they're a lot more similar than they thought... sokka teaching mai how to use a boomerang and mai teaching sokka the best places to conceal knives... ugh (there is also some sokka & mai friendship coming up in elbdtd chapters 7&8...)

i have um. a lot of feelings about this. in case you couldn't tell. honorable mentions are: sokka & aang, sokka & suki, sokka & toph, sokka & piandao, sokka & azula, and sokka & haru (again,,, elbdtd,,,)

uhhh all of zuko's guards love sokka so much like they adore him not only because he makes zuko happy and they know that he would do anything to protect him, but also because they genuinely think he's a great, funny, kind, and fun person. sokka, on the other hand, thinks that they hate him or find him annoying. like they never did anything to make him think that, he's just struck with the thought one day and suddenly was like "wow i am annoying zuko's guards what if they miss something because i'm talking to them and zuko gets hurt what if they just genuinely hate me but aren't allowed to say anything because i'm dating the firelord?"

one way in which I relate to this character

hahahhhahah we are. very similar. it's the never feeling like you're good enough and feeling like you don't contribute anything to the group (whether it be work, marching band, dance, or whatever) and talking a lot and having tourette's and just. we are very alike. feeling inadequate / unimportant compared to literally everyone else around you,,, yeah,,,

okay but that coupled with what i wrote for reki for this one is depressing so something happy / non-depressing is that we are both very expressive people :)

hahhahahhaha oh boy how much time do we have? only one way? better make it depressing then ! everyone around you being so much more talented and so much better at everything you love doing and having people make jokes about how you’re bad at it with lighthearted intent but you never forget them and sometimes you don’t want to do the things you love even tho it’s everything to you because you know you’ll never be good enough and you wonder why you’re even doing it. there’s no competition in the marching band section to be the / one of the best, there’s no competition in spectrum on who’s the best writer, it doesn’t matter that all of your friends are smarter than you and always do better at tests and essays than you even in your favorite subjects... right? and you feel so empty inside and wonder what’s your purpose on the earth if you aren’t actually good at anything because there’s always someone better than you no matter how hard you work and try and maybe you were always destined to work at dairy queen even tho it’s a toxic work environment and your willingness to help out is being taken advantage of because at least you’re good at that, or, at least you will be until someone better comes along. and you try so hard to be happy for your friends when they get into better bands at school or when they get higher scores on every test or when their writing gets published in spectrum or when everyone raves about how amazing they are or how great your sister is at band until you’re left isolating yourself with no means to express your emotions because that would just be a reminder about everything you’re not and never will be. i uh... i have a lot of feelings. this kind of got out of hand. i love reki.
