Giuseppe Stromboli Headcanons
I'm Italian and this is my time to shine.
1) The MAIN conflict here is, other thab the one between Purebloods and Halfbloods but between Regional Sectors. Northern Wizards are the Pureblood in the scenario, and the Magical School (Scuola Reale di Magia e Stregoneria di Gardaland) accepts all students equally, even if southern ones have to take the train every weekend to go up and down. The Train is made by Magical Trenitalia so it's a MESS to take, 5 hours waits, constant breaks, and who knows where they'll come?
2) Due to 1929's Pacts between the Fascist Party and the Vatican, Wizards born into center Italy are conscripted into two secret orders of Friars and Nuns. Only Muggleborns are allowed, and pure and halfblood imply the breaking of the vows of Celibacy. "Immaculate Conceptions," so to speak, are however allowed, but wizards and witches that move in Center Italy are usually kidnapped and Coscripted into the Orders.
3) Giuseppe's Parents are Livia Raggi, a Muggleborn Nun From the Roman Castles, and Nina "Angela" Stromboli, a neomelodic singer and pureblood witch from Naples. Livia was smuggled off from the Magical Vatican State alongside when still a kid, and went to School with Nina, Nina's Girl Gang, and her best friend who was smuggled alongside her, Renato Zero (No Relation).
4) Giuseppe's Best Friends are Pierino Sanguinacci and Hermione D'Annunzio. Ronaldo's family moved north a couple generations ago but is still considered southerners by the locals, Hermione's parents are a wealthy muggle doctor and her awful poet futurist husband. Then we have Luna D'amato, who is trans in this, And Nevio "Culone" Paciocco, obviously.
5) The bully is Brambilla Capretti, heir to the northern Capretti empire and general bastard.
6) The Villain, is Giovanni Maria Battista Pietro Pellegrino Isidoro Mastai Ferretti, or Pope Pius IX for those who don't know. He managed to create 7 Horcruxes and remained, like a cancer, in Italy's shadows, messing it up in revenge of losing the temporal power of the Vatican.
7) There is the portrait in the school of a mad knight with a black raven and a underfed white horse. He's Brancaleone, and he's the one behind the Regaletti del Decesso, 3 Gifts the Grim Reaper gave to him as his witch lover tricked death into sparing his life. He's a key figure in the narrative.
8) The so called "Banda dei Peggio Pe Te" was composed by Nina "Angela" Stromboli, Corinna "Cagna Maledetta" Neri, Lapo "Lupo" Lucio, and Michele "Topolino" Ratti.
9) No house elves exist, but basically enslaved immigrants coming from outside the EU are indeed used to cultivate the fields and feed the tables of Italian Wizards. By the end of the Story, this is challenged and, if not fixed, at least on the way to be fixed.
10) Giuseppe's Stromboli main Love Interests are, of course, Gianna Sanguinacci, Diego Cedrata, and an equivalent for Pavarti and one for Cho that I'm not going to name since I feel I don't have the rights to do so. Also his moms are alive and happy, and he doesn't have to go to abusive relatives every summer.
11) Levicorpus is casted on a fascist at some point, literally hanging them upside down like they deserve.
12) the fourth book being the Chalice of VINOOOO!!! has a Tournament with 3 main tasks, The first one is a Cooking Competition (with recurring character and potion teacher Antonino Cannavacciuolo as Judge), Followed by a Singing Competition (Where one of the Judges, Singer Bugo Bagmann, mysteriously disapeaers), and concluding with a Flying Football Match (which replaces Quidditch here). Robertone "Er Cinghiale" Baratro, Diego Cedrata and Flora Enchantrix are the respective Champions.
13) There is a mysterous, secondary character, working in the shadows, and is only known by his mystical moniker of "Il Trono Del Muori," or The Throne of the Die, to translate. No one knows his real intentions.
14) Instead of goblins, we have Gobelini and Koboldi. Their ancient King, Richard Benson, rules over them with a Iron Fist, but something seems to be changing...
Can't think of much else for now.

[TASK 189: NAMIBIA]
In celebration of March 21st being Namibian Independence Day, here’s a masterlist below compiled of over 190+ Namibian faceclaims categorised by gender with their occupation and ethnicity denoted if there was a reliable source. If you want an extra challenge use random.org to pick a random number! Of course everything listed below are just suggestions and you can pick whichever faceclaim or whichever project you desire.
Any questions can be sent here and all tutorials have been linked below the cut for ease of access! REMEMBER to tag your resources with #TASKSWEEKLY and we will reblog them onto the main! This task can be tagged with whatever you want but if you want us to see it please be sure that our tag is the first five tags, @ mention us or send us a messaging linking us to your post!
THE TASK - scroll down for FC’s!
STEP 1: Decide on a FC you wish to create resources for! You can always do more than one but who are you starting with? There are links to masterlists you can use in order to find them and if you want help, just send us a message and we can pick one for you at random!
STEP 2: Pick what you want to create! You can obviously do more than one thing, but what do you want to start off with? Screencaps, RP icons, GIF packs, masterlists, PNG’s, fancasts, alternative FC’s - LITERALLY anything you desire!
STEP 3: Look back on tasks that we have created previously for tutorials on the thing you are creating unless you have whatever it is you are doing mastered - then of course feel free to just get on and do it. :)
STEP 4: Upload and tag with #TASKSWEEKLY! If you didn’t use your own screencaps/images make sure to credit where you got them from as we will not reblog packs which do not credit caps or original gifs from the original maker.
THINGS YOU CAN MAKE FOR THIS TASK -  examples are linked!
Stumped for ideas? Maybe make a masterlist or graphic of your favourite faceclaims. A masterlist of names. Plot ideas or screencaps from a music video preformed by an artist. Masterlist of quotes and lyrics that can be used for starters, thread titles or tags. Guides on culture and customs.

Valerien Ismael's West Bromwich Albion failed in their bid to draw level with second-placed Bournemouth as they were once again denied victory by Barnsley on a bogey ground where they have not won in 74 years.
On his first return to a foggy Oakwell since leaving to join Albion in May, Ismael's men were the better side but were denied by a combination of the woodwork and some heroic defending.
West Brom remain third in the Championship - but, after a week in which Chinese owner Guochuan Lai made his first visit to the club in three years, they now know more than ever that they need to strengthen up front in January after failing to score in four of their past six games.
Instead, it was Ismael's former club who had more to celebrate as new Barnsley boss Poya Asbaghi eked out a third draw in four games - to edge within seven points of safety.
Barnsley v Albion: As it happened
Albion had the best two chances to score before the break, the first of them from Cedric Kipre in only the fifth minute.
Barnsley old boy Alex Mowatt - Ismael's first Albion signing - curled in a left-foot free-kick from the right, from which the loosely marked Kipre powered a firm header against the right post.
Then Jordan Hugill should have done better from Conor Townsend's pull-back, but Callum Brittain blocked his low side-foot finish.
The hosts did cause one moment of alarm when Josh Benson tried his luck from long range with a Cristiano Ronaldo-style right-foot free-kick, which would have dipped just under the bar had Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone not turned it over.
Albion have now not won in 19 league visits to Barnsley since their last victory there back in August 1947
But Albion went close again after the break when Callum Robinson's close-range deflected shot on the turn was shovelled wide by home keeper Brad Collins.
Then Albion top scorer Karlan Grant was somehow thwarted by home defender Michal Helik's boot at the near post at full stretch from an angle, after he had circumvented Collins.
Grady Diangana and Darnell Furlong also opened up the Tykes as a low cross flew untouched across the face of goal, before Matt Clarke's header was deflected onto the top of the net.
And, in a game of four bookings, three of them to the visitors, other referees might have - on less foggy nights - viewed Heilk's high, late challenge on Hugill as a red card.
But, on such a grim, gloomy evening in South Yorkshire, it needed something special to break down a well marshalled Barnsley rearguard - and Albion did not have it.
They may now fall further behind the top two if Bournemouth, two points better off than the Baggies overnight, can win at Middlesbrough on Saturday lunchtime - and leaders Fulham, a further two points ahead, win at home to Sheffield United on Monday.
Who's next?
Subject to any further loss of fixtures in light of the escalating threat from the Covid-19 pandemic, both sides do not appear again until the Christmas fixtures, when Barnsley host Stoke City on 26 December, before Albion are due to visit Derby County the following day.
Barnsley boss Poya Asbaghi told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"We did enough to take a point at least. But, in the challenge we are in, it is not enough just giving 100%.
"We have to be braver. We need to develop our offence, as well a defensive structure that gives you confidence.
"I'm proud of the fighting spirit and the hard defensive work against tough physical opponents.
"There were moments when I felt it was like a battlefield out there but my players acted like soldiers and were prepared to take the fight."
West Brom boss Valerien Ismael told BBC Radio WM:
"We are very strong defensively. We kept another clean sheet but we need more quality in front of goal.
"We need to have that killer instinct to change the destiny of a game. Players have to take responsibility in the final third. We need to put the ball behind the line.
"It is half-time, 23 games. We are still in a good position. But this was a confirmation of what we have known for weeks that the first thing we have to do is something about is with the front three.
"From a strategic point of view, it is always easier to get players in as quickly as possible and not wait until the last minute."

Monaco Hamilton beats Verstappen in Monaco thriller

Lewis Hamilton held off Red Bull’s Max Verstappen to win a nail-biting Monaco Grand Prix.
The world champion was left struggling with the tyres on his Mercedes after fitting softer rubber during an early-race safety car than the Dutchman.
Hamilton repeatedly complained that he was not going to be able to make the tyres last to the end but by careful management managed to take his fourth win of 2019.
Verstappen dropped from second on the road to fourth in the results because of a five-second penalty, promoting Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel to second and Merceces’ Valtteri Bottas to third.
Verstappen’s punishment was for causing a collision after an unsafe release in the pits when all the leaders pitted on lap 12 as a safety car was deployed to clear up debris laid by Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari.
Although Mercedes’ run of consecutive victories at the start of this season continued, their sequence of one-twos is over as a result of Bottas’ bad luck.
Leclerc’s bravery trying to make up places at the start cost him – but it lead to a safety car and an entertaining race
The defining moment of the race
Hamilton was controlling the race, ahead of Bottas, Verstappen and Vettel, after converting his pole position into a lead a the first corner.
But the race came to life when Leclerc suffered a puncture when he spun trying to pass Nico Hulkenberg’s Renault for 11th place on lap eight.
Leclerc had been making up ground after Ferrari’s farcical strategic error in qualifying on Saturday meant he failed to progress beyond the first session.
The Monegasque had passed Romain Grosjean’s Haas for 12th place with a brave move at Rascasse on the previous lap. He tried the same on Hulkenberg but was just too far back.
They rounded the corner together but Leclerc spun as he got on the power on the exit.
He got going again losing only two places but his tyre began to deconstruct around the next lap and tore chunks out of his rear bodywork as he returned to the pits.
When the safety car was deployed, Hamilton led the leaders into the pits, as Bottas backed up Verstappen and Vettel to give Mercedes time to service both cars.
Red Bull pulled off a super-quick stop and released Verstappen into Bottas’ path, and the two cars touched as the Finn was forced into the pit wall on the outside.
It gave Verstappen second place on the road, and caused Bottas a puncture which meant he had to stop again the next time around, losing a place to Vettel. But Verstappen was given his penalty.
Verstappen was handed a five-second time penalty for this impact with Bottas in the pitlane

The complex physics behind bending it like a World Cup player
New Post has been published on https://nexcraft.co/the-complex-physics-behind-bending-it-like-a-world-cup-player/
The complex physics behind bending it like a World Cup player
The gems of every World Cup are the impossible goals. Cristiano Ronaldo bending it in over the wall against Spain in the group stage. Benjamin Pavard bending a cross to pull France over Argentina in the group of 16. Takashi Inui sweeping in a perfectly spin-less goal to bring Japan up over Belgium, if only temporarily.
It’s breathtaking to watch. Every spin of the ball moves air across the surface, pushing it into a bend. For a player at this level, bending the ball is an intuitive motion, just a kick to the edge of the ball to arc it in the right direction. For a physicist, modeling air flow around a bending soccer ball is a complex blend of forces all tied to the way the air moves across the surface.
“The physics is rather complicated honestly, but there are simple ways to explain it,” says John Bush, an applied mathematician at MIT. “The reason it looks mysterious is because you can’t see what the surrounding fluid, in this case air, is doing.”
When a soccer ball flies, the air forms a layer around the surface of the ball. As the ball spins, it deflects the air off to one side, Bush says. This deflection of air pushes the ball in the opposite direction.
Benjamin Pavard’s cross (above) starts with a strike on the out side of his right foot, which hits the left side of the ball, initiating a clockwise spin. That rotation flings the air off to the left, and the force created by the air leaving the ball pushes it to the right, explains Bush. Thus, a ball spinning to the right (that’s clockwise) will also arc towards the right. This force is called the Magnus Effect.
“With a soccer ball, that’s how Bekham can bend it,” says Tom Benson, a retired NASA aerospace engineer who designed software to model this problem. One of the tricks in the World Cup is that the Magnus Effect is predictable. A soccer ball with a counterclockwise spin will always bend left, one with a backspin that goes under the ball gives it a bit more upward movement, and topspin causes a drop.
“It helps the goalies, because the goalies then see uniform curvature when guys are bending it taking shots at them,” Benson says. “If he can pick up the spin right, it’s going to be the same amount of curvature, and he knows where to put his hands.”
This is in part why players are much more likely to take bending shots during free kicks when goalies can’t see their kicks quite as well because of the wall of defenders, says Bush. There a player is trying to get the ball over the wall and down, like the gorgeous shot from Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal’s group stage game in the first round of the World Cup against Spain.
A player can change how the ball spins by kicking with the inside or outside edge of their foot to place the spin, says Bush. In the shot pictured above, Ronaldo kicks with the instep of his right foot, and the ball bends back around to his left, because of the counterclockwise spin he put on the ball. Between the lift on the ball, which is necessary to get over the wall, and the sweeping curve, the goalie didn’t even have a chance to move before the ball hit the upper corner of the net.
It’s the texture and design of the soccer ball that keeps the air moving across the surface of the ball in a predictable way, and keeps the Magnus effect from reversing. “If you have a perfectly smooth ball, the ball can bend the wrong way so to speak,” says Bush. “I was playing soccer on the beach in Nice, and we were playing with a beach ball and it was bending the wrong way. I was going—oh my god, my world was collapsing here!”
During the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, the ball was essentially too smooth and the Magnus effect would flip, bending the ball counter to the way players expected. “If you hit two balls exactly the same, one rough and one smooth, they will bend in opposite ways,” says Bush, who demonstrated the phenomenon in a 2013 paper. This flipping of the Magnus Effect is partly why that World Cup continues to be so memorable.
Back in 2010, the 10 World Cup arenas were at very different altitudes from sea level in Cape Town to just over a mile above sea level in Johannesburg. It meant that games were played with different densities of air. This is partially why NASA and Benson got involved in modeling what was happening with the ball that year. At the different air densities the ball was traveling at very different speeds, Benson says. It’s much harder to get bend on a ball if the air is less dense because there is less pressure to push the ball in one direction or another.
Since the 2018 World Cup is all played at the same altitude that isn’t impacting this World Cup, but Benson says you can see this effect in action in baseball stadiums at higher altitudes. “Denver’s a mile high, and at a mile-high you’ll lose 25 to 30 percent of the air density,” he explains, “therefore you lose an inch or two off your curve ball.”
If a ball isn’t spinning, it does something called knuckling, where the air peels off the ball in random directions, causing it to bob and weave in the air unpredictably, says Taketo Mizota, a fluid engineer at the Fukuoka Institute of Technology in Japan. The constant Magnus Effect is no longer in play, and instead the vortexes of air move around the ball’s surface. This movement pushes the ball irregularly, creating the bobbles, Mizota says.
This knuckling motion only happens when the ball moves without spin, and is usually achieved when a player manages a sharp, fast touch of the ball, typically right on the air valve where the ball is most firm, says Bush. This prevents as much spin from transferring during the kick as possible.
Takashi Inui managed to get a perfect spin-less goal when Japan played Belgium in the round of 16 on June 2nd this year. When you watch it in slow motion, you can see that the pattern on the ball barely moves at all as it floats into the goal. Its lack of spin kept the goalie, Thibaut Courtois, from being able to predict where it was going until it was too late. “All the goal keepers quiver before the kicker who can shoot these slow spinning soccer balls,” says Mizota. (Although this year it wasn’t enough to put Japan through to the quarterfinals.)
But a World Cup soccer player isn’t slowing down to think about fluid dynamics before they make these elegant touches. “There’s the physics and then there is the skill of shooting. You won’t see an engineer or a physicist step on the field and dazzle with its shots,” says Bush with a laugh. “The skill is developed through practice, rather than a knowledge of the physics.”
