#THIS SPECIAL WAS A FRICKING MASTERPIECE
mdhwrites · 1 year
Note
I just wanna say, thanks for your takes. Like, everybody acts like TOH is this bold masterpiece whose all flaws can be blamed on Disney and, while on some level this is true, I can't help but feel frustated with the inconsistencies and wasted potential it has that go back since fricking season ONE! So it's nice to see someone criticizing the show but not in a bad faith way, ya know? Thanks.
Thank you! It genuinely means a lot to me. It can feel like I'm screaming into the void a lot of the time or just circle jerking my opinions. The 'good faith' implication of your kind words especially is resonant because, well, I've gotten a lot of people claiming that I must have not watched the show or something. Which, if I really thought the show was literally all bad or just watched it to hate it, I wouldn't talk about it as much because a piece of media that only fails isn't as interesting as one that succeeded so much at one point.
But… I actually to take a moment to talk about the fandom's intolerance towards criticism in possibly a more good faith manner than I have. I've been too mean in the past and, well, the show kind of asks for it. Asks that if you think critically of it, you HAVE to come up positive.
How did the show do this? Well, remember that the VERY SECOND EPISODE is spent entirely around the concept that this show doesn't have Chosen Ones. A cliche trope of some other fantasy had an entire episode devoted to it with constant hammerings in of the final lesson: No one here is designated as special. No one follows that trope.
That isn't even subversive comedy. That is just explicitly going out of your way to point at a trope that people are lukewarm about at best commonly and stating "I dislike this. This isn't here. We're BETTER." Worse yet, the show DOES revel in subversive comedy that reinforces this viewpoint or continues to make plot points that are explicitly against common story telling in the genre, like Willow saying they're not friends yet.
This, naturally, begs comparison. Begs critical thinking. Not even negative in theory, just… A more critical eye anyways. After all, if the explicit text says it's better, it is inherently asking to be judged as above average. As something special.
So, for much of the audience, you have two options. One:
You agree. You think it is as special as it claims to be and find higher value in its storytelling and themes and quality. You stay on its wavelength and are pushed more and more to continue to think it's the best when the show says it is.
OR
You disagree. You think the show, even if you don't think it's bad, is okay. Average to good. It's not the special thing it claims to be though and so you have fallen out of step with it. After that, every time it does something other shows would do, let alone when it says it's not, it nags at some part of your brain. Because the show itself is claiming to be better than your perception of it.
This second mindset makes good faith criticism more difficult because every small mistake is going to feel larger. Things that would be normal and waved off in other shows can't be now. Can you reconcile with this? Of course. Plenty of people wanting my thoughts have stated they still like the show but there are going to be some who once the unraveling begins… There's no stopping it.
And it actually effects the person in line with the show as well. Why do people blame Disney and the shortening for all the problems of the show despite all the leaps of logic required to do so? Because it helps them get back into step with the show. It makes it easier to claim that its boasts are valid and only stopped because the 'true vision' of the piece wasn't realized.
And reasonably, this makes for a VERY hostile environment. Criticism that wouldn't even be blinked at with other shows like a silly mcguffin or a funny plot hole become insurmountable problems. After all, the show claims to be better than that. You saying ANYTHING negative, means that the show itself is wrong and you risk falling out of step.
Even worse is that this is a self devouring serpent. If you agree the work is special, the work stops having to say it's special to continue having that perception by fans. They'll claim ANYTHING to keep raising the bar to meet the expectation. Every character is clearly nuerodivergent or disabled in some way. Or both! Luz is unlike any protagonist ever in media! Lumity is literally as perfect as you could make a couple in media!
And so you keep feeding the serpent, bringing the point of the serpent where something slips up and you are devoured along side with the last of it ever closer. Because now if it fails the expectations you've put on it… Everything's over.
And that just sucks and isn't healthy for anyone. It should be okay for your favorite piece of media to be just average. I mean, my favorite comedy is still Emperor's New Groove and I'm not going to claim it's somehow on a whole different plane of existence. It just has good animation, good comedy, good heart, etc. like that without being offensive. It does its job telling an entertaining and coherent story very well and in a way that I just have never let go of.
I don't need it to be more than that. And media shouldn't be asked to be more than that.

WILD KRATTS. Season 3 Review!!!!!!!!!!
One sentence review (1 being the worst-10 being a masterpiece) Hope you enjoy :)
Tumblr media
Hermit Crab Shell Exchange: WHY did Gormond call Chris "Green Pea" instead of "Green Grape"? However this episode have so many great moments to count. 9/10
When Fish Fly: I love the use of the "take a walk in my shoes" trope, it would have been cool if they stuck with the team switching roles until the very end but besides that this episode is iconic. See, finding creatures is like a piece of cake/10
Slider the Otter: How did Slider live that long? Cute episode but not the most memorable (sorry if you like this episode) 6/10
Mosquitoe Dragon: WHY Ya Hitting yourself?! Also not a bad invention by Zach completely backfired though. 7/10
Search for the Florida Panther: Wholesome in every which way, I loved the scene where Martin makes Chris go out and search for food, the live action part is also one of my favorites. 9/10
Osprey: I'm probably a bit bias but this episode is Amazing, fricking Jimmy loosing stuff is hilarious and not only do they make an episode of an animal that's the Mascot of my favorite football team ( though it goes by the nickname) they realeased it the year they won the superbowl and to make it even more amazing...Green and Blue are the team colors!!! 10/10 ( GO HAWKS 💙💚) ahem...anyways.
Bandito the Black Footed Ferret: Getting a bit of name dejavu and Martin not learning his lesson from the Googly Eye: The Night Guru episode tsk tsk tsk, good episode though. 8/10
Where the Bison Roam: The talking Bison are cursed, and they switched who was Lewis and who was Clark midway through the episode, a little rough around the edges but it's still good 8/10
Crocogator Contest: Very informative still remember the difference between an Alligator and a Crocodile because of this episode also poor Jimmy. 7/10
The Amazing Creature Race: Team Fastfeet all the way babbbbbyyyyyy!!! Though we were cheated out of a Chrizelle moment, oh well 6/10.
Prarie Who: Just a fun episode, but what in the creature world was Koki doing? Also all those crash landings would have killed them except for Jimmy. 9 Yips/10
Mystery on the Prarie: I've been impaled the episode, poor Jimmy, Bush Chris needs to return and where is Moo after this episode? (Spoilers Moo wasn't full grown in the Christmas special) 8/10
Chameleons on Target: Bruh why was Aviva blaming the Kratt Brothers for that whole ring chip thing? The way they hid was funny. 7/10
Opossum in my Pocket: Gormond commits attempted murder on the Kratt Brothers. 8/10
Fossa Palooza: Best mothers day episode EVER, we saw Mama Kratt and their old neighborhood? 10/10
Mini Madagascar: 0_0 why they make the mouse lemur scary though. 7/10
Aye Aye: I love the pirate theme and why do Jimmy be lazy (I get it its a personality trait of his but still) but I mean Aviva could have done it also Aghhh. 7/10
Lemur Legs: Best episode opening in my opinion, they should have named one of the lemurs Zaboo instead of Bob but it was still funny. That sarcastic clap the WK crew did was also great 10/10
Under the Frozen Pond: Child endangerment and the WK team not playing fair at Hockey because they were loosing (but they were there first soooo) 7/10
Lemur Skink Fight: Tried a Tameron fruit before, it wasn't that great, unlike this episode, Also this was one of Donita's worse ideas she should stick to clothing. 8/10
Golden Bamboo Lemur: The dress looked better without the lemur, Why doesn't Donita utilize the hypnosis technology more often and I can't believe the Kratt Bros almost forgot Koki and Jimmy, Not cool man. 7/10
Tenric Treasure Hunt: Obi-Wan Kratt is big sad for loosing his Brother to the River. 8/10
Praying Mantis: I love this episode! Props to the animators for changing the "What if" animation to fit the live action bit, but what was up with that toy Monkey, still gives me the hebijibbies. 10/10
Capture the Fishmoblie: Technically not cheating if Aviva just handed it to them. 7/10
Back in Creature Time: THEY NEED TO MAKE A SEQUEL!!! Zach wanting to make the Kratt Brothers extinct is very dark I love it, also by changing where Great Grand daddy Gormond landed, potentially be a risk to whether or not Gormond would still exist? Also MARTIN WHY YOU SMUGGLING A TASMANIAN TIGER?!?! STOP. 10/10
Great season but I feel like after this season the writing changed...

Just curious~ but what’s your favorite Alien race in Star Wars? 🤔
I really like the Pantorans, they’re so pretty~ 🥰
the gold eyes + matching gold facial tattoos they have go so nicely with their blue skin.. plus they get instant nerd points since George Lucas himself had a cameo as a Pantoran senator in the background of one of the prequel movies! 😁
Ohh yess they’re fricking prettyyyyyy!!! alsooo, didn’t know this about Georges Lucas cameo, gonna pay more attention to it when I‘ll rewatch the movies 0-0
My favourites are the Togrutas and the Twi‘leks c:
The Togrutas character design is a freaking masterpiece. The tonned skin, white markings and the beautiful Lekkus ???
it’s just awesome 🥹
aaand I also mentioned the Twi‘leks, hehe.
I used to be obsessed with Aalya Secura back then when I was still in elementary school. Idk, even if her appearance in the movies wasn’t really…. long? Impactful? she somehow managed to be one of my favorite Jedi back then.. I mean she‘s still holding a special place in my heart ngl 😭
Like whenever I see her I get this nostalgic feeling because I used to play a Nintendo Wii game about the clone wars, she’s a playable character there and I always chose her 🥹
however, since she was like my second (after Anakin ofc) favorite Star Wars character, Twi‘leks in general automatically became my favorite alien species for a lot of years xd

Top 10 Best Movies of 2022
Happy New Year everyone! Another year, another day, another annual calendar change. Here’s hoping 2023 brings us many more fun movies and entertainment, however before that let’s look back on 2022, and these are the 10 movies that to me personally stood out the most. Doesn’t mean they are your favourite or anyone else’s. This is a full biased me-list. Therefore your lists might be completely different to this one, but at the end of the day that is the beauty of cinema - we all have our own personal opinions and takes. So without much further ado, these are my favourite films of 2022. At this point in writing I am still yet to see The Whale, so even though I feel that Brendan Fraser will absolutely kill in that role, that movie unfortunately won’t be on this list, as I cannot speak of that what I have not seen... duh. Anyway, here we go...
HONOURABLE MENTIONS: The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent; Barbarian; Three Thousand Years of Longing; Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood; Studio 666; Jackass Forever; Babylon, The Sea Beast
SPECIAL HONOURABLE MENTION: ELVIS - This one just missed the Top 10, but I feel like it deserves recognition anyway, so here we are. There’s always something really special about seeing an actor completely lose himself in a biopic role, and Austin Butler achieves that by literally becoming Elvis Presley. Baz Luhrmann’s film is flashy and manic, but there’s a real style to it, and those last 30 minutes are truly heart wrenching. And look, I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I had the soundtrack playing on repeat for weeks after seeing this film! 10) PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH - Look, I am as shocked as anyone at how good Puss in Boots: The Last Wish turned out to be. Easily better than its predecessor and in fact taking a run for the money at the better Shrek movies. With remarkable animation, great voice acting and featuring a spine-chilling personification of death in the form of the Big Bad Wolf, The Last Wish is a great sequel for the favourite fearless hero. Full review: https://agentnico.tumblr.com/post/705961629983162368/puss-in-boots-the-last-wish-2022-review
Tumblr media
9) MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON - I am going to straight up say it - Marcel is fricking cute! This tiny little shell with very bright pink shoes and one singular googly eye has such an innocent yet overly positive outlook on anything and all. With slapstick humour and loads of heart, this is an adorable little indie film that exists sorely to remind us to appreciate the little things in life that we have. Full review: https://agentnico.tumblr.com/post/700915329295106048/marcel-the-shell-with-shoes-on-2022-review
Tumblr media
8) GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY - Though nowhere as good as the original Knives Out, Rian Johnson nonetheless manages to conjure up another fun murder mystery whodunnit with a very game cast and a sharp witty script. And again, Daniel Craig’s detective Benoit Blanc with his Southern drawl is a character creation that is so damn good, that I cannot wait to see him again and again and again. Tumblr media
7) ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT - This movie is a bleak experience from beginning to end. From the opening moments where the blood-soaked uniforms of the dead are washed and then handed nice and clean to the new recruits, with the latter having no idea where these clothes have been scavenged from, to the main character Paul stabbing a French soldier in No Man’s Land, only to then have to lie in horror by his side and listen to the victim choking on his own blood, this film is a grim reminder on the terrifying brutality of war, that is unfortunately very relevant to this day. A very powerful adaptation of Erich Maria Remarque’s original masterpiece. Full review: https://agentnico.tumblr.com/post/699530184482766848/all-quiet-on-the-western-front-2022-review
Tumblr media
6)THE WHALE - There’s always that one movie a year where folks clamour on about featuring the best acting performance of the year, and how said performance is a shoehorn for an Academy Award. Nine times out of ten that performance ends up being alright, but very overrated. In the case of The Whale, Brendan Fraser deserves all the praise and then some. It’s a role you’ve never seen from him before, and he shows so much emotion just in his eyes... it’s truly incredible. Austin Butler is great in Elvis, don’t get me wrong, but Fraser here does something truly special. Film’s a hard watch, but so worth it for him. Full review: https://agentnico.tumblr.com/post/708405214578917376/the-whale-2022-review
Tumblr media
5) X -  X is a shocking and provocative erotic slasher horror that benefits from taking itself seriously enough to be genuinely unsettling, however self aware enough to still have that element of cheese factor, especially when it comes to the sexual scenes and the genre misdirects. Featuring shocking and truly creepy and grotesque sequences, I am reminded of a quote from a character in this movie - “I say this is one goddamn f****d up horror picture”. Full review: https://agentnico.tumblr.com/post/679353856708198400/every-so-often-i-get-a-bright-idea-in-this-case
Tumblr media
4) EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE - This one offered us the real multiverse of madness, unlike a certain other Marvel outing this year.  Part science fiction, part black comedy, part drama, part fantasy, part romance, part martial arts film, part family film, part absurdist surrealism, and even an animation at one point, it literally is a movie about everything everywhere all at once. Probably the most original film of the year, which makes sense as it comes from the director’s of that Daniel Radcliffe farting corpse movie. Full review: https://agentnico.tumblr.com/post/685330781899505664/everything-everywhere-all-at-once-2022-review
Tumblr media
3) TOP GUN: MAVERICK -  Well pardon my pun, but Top Gun: Maverick is simply ace! This is such an adrenaline fuelled, riveting and exciting action film, and is exactly what perfect summer blockbusters should be like. With nail-biting aeronautics featuring cast members having to train and physically learn to fly the jets themselves, making it feel more real like you’re in the cockpit yourself. Miles Teller spends most of the movie sweating and red faced mid-air with his expression reading “damn, I may actually snuff it”. Truly thrilling stuff. Full review: https://agentnico.tumblr.com/post/686795061603794944/top-gun-maverick-2022-review
Tumblr media
2) THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN - Having one of this year’s most simple premises - one friend decides to suddenly unfriend the other, and the other friend refuses to accept it. Result? The funniest bloody movie possible. Equally hilarious yet tragic, I honestly find it difficult to find a fault in this one. Even the ending that really dials up on the dark madness feels deserved and the only direction for these characters to go, especially with the Irish folklore and myths behind it. Also the cinematography is stunning. Like guys, who knew Ireland was so beautiful!? Full review: https://agentnico.tumblr.com/post/698895813551718400/the-banshees-of-inisherin-2022-review

1) RRR - Of course my No 1 movie of 2022 is RRR. It could only be RRR! No other film this year came even close to the absolute joy I had watching the 3 hours+ of nonstop thrilling action, crazy Bollywood dance sequences (Naatu Naatu is my new life jam!) and a wonderful timeless tale of brotherhood and friendship. And again the action! A dude tosses a motorbike at one point like its nothing!! RRR’s key success is its sincerity. Unlike typical modern day Hollywood blockbuster cash-grabs (no shade!), RRR never strives to be anything other than its supposed to be. It’s a Telugu movie through and through, and you can tell the director, actors and crew are so unified in their collective mission and passion for the material that it simply glistens on the screen. It’s insane, its romantic, its funny, its exhilarating, it’s everything you’d want from a movie and more! Bloody love RRR I do! About Pi Gasu Jungkook 🧛🏻
The latest chapter was fricking awesome and it honestly shook me to the bones ahhhhh the ending!!! :0
I do have some thoughts I wanted to share with you though :3
If Jk still refuses to give her his blood and she shoots herself, it wouldn't really change anything in her situation. Like her death would be meaningless since she still wouldn't be able to save her brother. Like sure she says she has nothing to live for, but killing herself wouldn't do anything either....I wonder what she would do if he bluffes. Would she shoot herself for real? Then again, if she does, Jk would save her with his blood and turn her. Her blood then still wouldn't heal her brother since I think Jk's blood is special. (I read some comments that thought she would be able to save other's with her blood as well, but for me it wouldn't make sense) she would have Jk's blood in her system, yes, but I don't think the amount she has would ever be enough. Especially for her blood to have that ability too....ya know where I'm going with this?
Also, since you mentioned Yoongi and Hoseok cooperating. Wouldn't it have already done the trick if she asked some other vampire like jimin or Tae? She would still be able to be happy with Jk while saving her brother without putting her life on the line??? Or maybe she could have asked Jk for Tae's or Jimin's blood to save her brother. I'm sure he wouldn't have refused as long as she isn't personally involved and using his own blood.
I'm just confused on why she didn't think it through...why go to such an extreme? There probably were much easier solutions without these complications ya know 🤔
Anyway! This fic literally left me with so many questions haha thank you for writing such a masterpiece! I love this series dearly 😊🤍 and sorry for the long ask oof 😅
hello thank you for such a lovely big message! let’s dig into this one:
vampire blood cures human illnesses, if oc becomes a vampire (having ingested JK’s blood) she will have special blood also. it’s not a JK thing it’s a vampire thing, though the age of the vampire is important to how affective it’ll be (this will be covered in the next chapter!) i also think the word meaningless is a little strong when referencing her ‘death’ - we’ve seen her showcase a mental health decline throughout the series, this isn’t the first time she’s expressed to JK she feels as though she has nothing to live for. while i agree her plan is very extreme and could backfire, i firmly believe she’s bluffing and expecting jungkook to cave!
she could’ve asked tae or jimin yes, she could’ve! i guess from her perspective she feels close enough to JK to ask him specifically, not to mention she was initially very angry with him and wanted a confrontation about what he’d been doing with her blood. i think in her eyes she counts that as leverage over him, she has something to use against him and threaten him with for her own gain. it’s not the perfect plan, it really isn’t 😂 our girl is tired, desperate to help her brother and having ingested JK’a blood herself knows it’s safe enough to give to her brother! was it executed well? absolutely not. will the shock value of her threat be enough to get her what she wants? maybe👀
thank you for taking the time to read the update and share your thoughts with me! 💜

Emotional tmnt headcanon time whoop whoop
The first time the tmnt boys watched kung fu panda they all loved master oogway, not only because he was also a turtle, his incredible fighting skills and wise advices reminded them of their sensei, immediately called master splinter to watch the movie with them, which he happily complied to
Until the tree scene ( yeah, THAT scene) came up and they all silently started weeping, none of them moved by trying to pretend they were all fine, but the room was filled with sniffing sounds and none of them dared to comment about it.
Raph was the one who dared to look at master splinter first, when he saw his glistened eyes, threatening tears at each corner, but still a graceful smile adoring his fathers face, he couldn’t take it. Abruptly stood up and walked out, struggling to keep his emotions in while still in the hearing range of his family, after taking a sharp turn at one of the tunnels while trying to get to his room, he finally let the tears slide down onto his cheeks
Mikey didn’t take long to go after him, Not only he was worried, he knew if he hugged Raph, burying his face on his older brother plastron, he wouldn’t be judged, both knew they needed a hug right now
Donatello was trying his best to keep his posture, unfortunately the song really got him, specially at the petals part, slowly took of his glasses and hid his face between his palms, shoulders trembling slightly
Leo was the only one who kept watching it, trying to keep his hiccups under control, until he felt master splinter gently placing his hand on top of his shaking one rested at the arm chair, and that’s when he allowed himself to cry for the first time in front of his father
Later on- and oddly enough, Kung fu panda became their comfort movie after master splinter passing.
They all agreed to play “oogway ascends” in his funeral as a tribute.
Tumblr media
I absolutely love this song, Hans zimmer and John Powell didn’t had to go that hard but no, they fricking obliterated with this masterpiece, I always imagined leo having a hard time watching this scene, but I’m sure they would all get very emotional, a “definitely didn’t see it coming” situation. like- “yeah let’s watch a fun little movie about a panda who can fight kung fu!” To “oh no bro” kind of unprepared
Also Leo and Raph had a crush on tigress

Miraculous Rant
Actually, you know what, while im still mad from the previous post I made, lets go off on a rant. No punches pulled. Lets do this.
The lovesquare is the most terrible ship in this fandom. One girl is a hyper obsessed stalker who tracks her crush with her planner for 3 whole seasons, while the boy couldn’t learn to take a hint and stop flirting for 3 whole seasons until he decided to move on with another girl. Ironically that makes them perfect for eachother, but its in a creepy kind of way, not a loving kind of way.
Adrigami and Lukanette in the S3 Finale were wasted events and never should have occured because they were immediately axed in the first few episodes of the next season. I feel sorry for those that were hoping their ships could be real for at least a short actual while, and it makes me want to curse the writers for their story-boner for the status quo of teases
Despite what I said earlier, none of the girls are good for Adrien. Marinette’s stalkery and a borderline yandere, Kagami’s somewhat controlling and too similar to Adrien help him grow as a person, Chloe is a queen bee beyotch and honestly too much like a sibling to Adrien, and Lila is garbage. Fuck it, have Luka date Adrien and they can play some sweet music together (not like that you pervs, I meant they both play instruments).
Nino needs more love. Not only that, but there needs to be more Adrien/Nino bro moments. If Marinette and Alya can have moments together, why not the bros?
Chloe’s character is a mess, and is neither redeemable, nor notably evil. Her role as a villain in season 1 is very hamfisted, such as in the episodes Mr Pigeon and Kung Food. Not only that, Chloe also lacks any of the qualities that makes a good “bully villain” or rival to Marinette, and her sympathetic moments (which are Written by Sebastien) are mostly overshadowed by the fact that Astruc wants her to be a bully, so it just makes her bipolar and confusing when her character is tugged between two writers.
Chloe should not have joined Hawkmoth in Miracle Queen, see my other post as to why I think so. TLDR, its kinda ooc  for her to go full on 2d villain like Hawkmoth especially after Miraculer, plus Lila was being build up to be the main antagonist of S3
Chloe got kicked from the Team in Miraculer because people know her identity? Fine. Kagami gets to be Ryuko again despite being known to Hawkmoth in Ikari Gozen? Not cool. Ladybug shouldn’t be a hypocrite and be willing to break her own rules just because “Kagami is my friend and Chloe’s not”. Same goes for her breaking the rule with secrect identities with Alya, only for her to go on and on about the rules to Chat when he pries.
Zoe is a bland character who’s only notable trait that she likes Marinette, which automatically makes her worthy of a miraculous after two episodes and no actual development.
Astruc is a petty frick who makes episodes that give the finger to fans of the show that have a different opinion than him. Queen Banana, Miracle Queen, and Reverser are good examples of this (Reverser did Nathaniel dirty).
Master Fu is a shit guardian. Read my post for more.
FRICK THE FEAST EPISODE. Not only did is ruin Fu as character, it ruined all the good theories as to why the order fell, and wasted the idea of a new villain being introduced or even taking over as the main antagonist! Speaking of Feast, despite the sentimonster destroying an order when he wasn’t even big, he still go beat by 2 kids even when he was supersized!
Marinette is not a good Guardian. Her ability to choose heroes does not make her capable, and just because “tradition is stupid” doesnt mean that Marinette shouldn’t be tested like others before her!
Despite the Kwami’s being ancient magical buildings, they seem to act like kids a lot, and that annoys me when in S1 they are supposed to apparently be mentors to their wielders, like how Tikki was before she was mentally de-aged.
Lila is trash and should be removed from the show. The only reasons her lies work is because the writers dumb down every other character in the show and ignore the fact the people have smartphones with google.
The “Miraculous” Ladybug spell should require both Ladybug and Chat Noir to cast, because not only does the power have nothing to do with creation, but it also “destroys” anything created by the akuma, which thematically makes no sense. Also it would place more emphasis on the two heroes being equals and “two halfs of the same coin”
On that note, Ladybug has too many powers. Not only is she the only one who can purify akumas, and can cast a spell that can fix Paris time and time again like its no one’s buisness, but she also now gets a new suit and the ability to nullify Hawkmoth’s akumas. Like COME ON! Give Chat some powers too.
Mayura’s feather’s shouldnt be able to be purified by Ladybug since they have no dark energy, and (thematically speaking) Chat should be given an ability that allows him to “vanquish” the energy in Mayura[’s feathers similar to how Ladybug can purify Hawkmoth’s akumas. At least it would develop a rivalry between Chat and Mayura, and would make Chat necassary against Shadowmoth rather than being replacable with any other hero.
The are too many temporary heroes. They should have just stuck with the 3 heroes from s2 and leave it at that. Sure, new heroes were cool, but the overuse has made the whole hero thing feel less special. It made sense for the first 3 to have them, but now it’s just like Oprah where everyone gets a miraculous. Except Gabe.
Chat Blanc was a stupid reason as to why secret identities cant be revealed, also Chat could have told LB who Hawkmoth once he returned back to normal was and the show would be over.
Hawkmoth should not be Gabriel. Frick the lore about Gabriel’s wife dying and him going evil to get her back, it makes the story feel too much like a star wars/Darth vader reference and leaves Gabriel acting bipolar, flipping from wanting to save his wife and doing this out of necessity to being a power hungry madman wanting to take over the world ( which is said in his canon music video). Having Hawkmoth be his own character means he can be an actual maniac who wants world domination and not just have villanous plot that rely on obtaining magical jewellery (perhaps doing other evil things/taking a more active role), while Gabriel being his own character means he can be a father that has become estranged from his son due to the lose of his S,O, and thus can have a plot about him reuniting with his son (I liked the end seen in Simon says, ok?)
On that same note, I think Mayura shouldn’t have been Nathalie. Considering Hawkmoth’s plans were repetitive as heck for most of the show, when I heard about the Mayura leaks back in Season 2 (when she was called “le Paon”) I was theorising that Mayura would actually being Hawkmoth’s boss, the villain the was responsible for giving him his Miraculous and the one who destroyed the Order of the Miraculous, and would take over as the main villain in season 3 due to Hawkmoth’s failures. However, that turned out not to be the case.
Not only that, but Mayuras power is a copy paste power with some modifications to make it complement Hawkmoth’s power, by basically giving his akuma’s magic pokemon.
Speaking of Hawkmoth’s power, for a miraculous that is supposed to be used for good, how can his power mind control people and make them become evil? More importantly, for a miraculous that is supposedly weaker than the main heroes of the show, having it be able to multiply and posses people to create an army is kinda strong.
Fuck the Maribat ship that the salt fandom came up with. Its trash, it was made to bash most of the Miraculous cast sans Marinette, and anyone thinks it is good are either those same salters or are the same people who think that Rey-lo and the Twilight Saga are masterpieces of romance.
Whew! I needed that vent. Hope you enjoyed it as as much as I did, and Tune in next time on the next episode of:  Arlakos loses his Mind and Rants for 2 pages of writing!

✨Today is Fanfic Writer Appreciation Day! ✨
I wanted to make a post about each and every one of the following writers but my brain doesn’t want to today, so I’ll do this instead. Also, I can already tell you that I’ve forgotten at least five people and I’ll feel deeply embarrassed when I remember who I forgot 😭 So please please remember that this is not an exhaustive list and that literally every single piece of writing out there has its place in fandom and enriches it. Thank you for sharing your passion with us! ♥️
@hdlynn - my first fandom friend 🥺 I don’t think I still would be in this fandom if it weren’t for Heather and on top of being an awesome friend and human, she’s an amazing writer! You have the absolute masterpieces such as marshal!Din but also my personal favourites Warm Hands (Part 1 and 2!)
@princessbatears - Werewolf!Paz! Let me just repeat that: Werewolf!Paz! 🥺 (And also Frankie if you’re into TF 👀)
@aerynwrites - Aeryn comes up with the best ideas it’s just as simple as that! Be it knight!Din or soldier!Boba (or that angsty Cassian OS that still lives rent free in my mind) everything she writes is a pleasure to read!
@stubbychaos - Amber is the OG Paz writer and if you haven’t checked out Saviin’ika yet, you definitely should. If I’ll ever be just half as good as she is when it comes to characterizing Paz, it’ll be my life’s achievement.
@datmando - Writing for both Paz and Din should be forbidden when you’re as talented as she is. (Also literally just check out her Paz fic and you’ll know what I mean because 🥺😭)
@mostly-megan - Not only is Megan the best enabler and has to suffer through me telling her all about new AUs, she’s also an amazing amazing writer! One thing that I always come back to is Pero Tovar as a Girl Dad because 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
@clydesducktape - You want to know how good Thia’s writing is? Let me tell you: I’ve almost stopped completely reading for any PP characters and never got into TF in the first place but I would still read every single Pero Tovar or Frankie piece she puts out because she is just that good. Special shout-outs good to her A/B/O AUs because holy shit (Also the way she describes good always makes me hungry and I’m not complaining)
@princessxkenobi - AnneMarie has the talent and sheer imagination to come up with the loveliest and multifaceted-est(?) AUs and story ideas, combining character constellations that you wouldn’t think of in the first place and making them work so beautifully that every piece leaves you yearning for more. 🥺
@vanillabeanlattes - alpha!Boba? Need I say more? 👀
@lilhawkeye3 - a self-declared and maybege approved menace! Hawk doesn’t only write she also draws (AND sings) and is single handedly responsible for me simping over a character I swore I wouldn’t ever be attracted to - the audacity 😂💀
@serkenobi - Go and read every single one of Brit’s fics. Don’t question it. Just do it. And when you’re finished, leave her all the praises and love she deserves!!
@penfullofwordsaheadfullofstories - Every time I read her stories I’m this 👌 close to falling into the Obi-Wan Kenobi thirst pit again which means that you should all read it.
@equalstrashflavoredtrash - Puck is so so so talented, I still dream of her alpha!Paz 🥺
@pilothusband - SO. FRICKING. GOOD.
@ohheyitsokay - Elle has a way with words that I can only dream of. It’s dreamy, it’s soft, it’s a little spicy sometimes and we should be grateful for every new character she decides to write for.

Pittsburgh Dance Instructor becomes Oscar wining star of
"An American in Paris"
and "Singin' In the Rain"
Gene Kelly was the leading star in the classic Hollywood movie musicals from the mid 1940s through the late 1950s.  Multi-talented he was a singer, dancer, choreographer actor, film director and producer.  Audiences love his delightful singing, his athletic dancing, his charming good looks, and his likeable characters.  He is credited for reviving movie musicals and redefining dance in films.  Kelly was honored with lifetime achievement awards from the Academy Awards, the Kennedy Center Honors, the Screen Actions Guild, and the American Film Institute. The American Film institute ranks him 15th on their list of “Greatest Male Stars of All Time”.  His most memorable performances include starring roles in Singin’ in the Rain, An American in Paris, On the Town, and Anchors Aweigh.  Gene was the star and choreographer of the film ‘An American in Paris” which won 8 Oscar awards including best picture and a special Oscar for Gene recognizing his contributions to screen choreography.  Singin’ in the Rain, called "a movie masterpiece" by Vincent Canby of the New York Times, has been voted the most popular movie musical of all time.
Growing Up in Highland Park
Born Eugene Curran Kelly in Pittsburgh on August 23,  1912, Gene Kelly grew up in on Mellon Street in Highland Park. He attended St. Raphael’s elementary school and was an altar boy at the church.  His Canadian born father James Patrick Joseph Kelly was as sports lover and a sales executive for the Thomas Edison's Columbia Phonograph Company.  Every winter James, who loved hockey, flooded the backyard to make an ice hockey rink for the family. Gene learned to skate at age 5.
Gene's mother Harriet, who as a hobby performed in local stock productions, made all five of her children take music and dance lessons.  She enrolled the eight year old Gene in dance classes at Blinsky’s School of the Dance on 6th and Penn in downtown Pittsburgh. The Kelly kids Jay, Jim, Gene, Louise, and Fred began performing dance routines around 1921 as "The Five Kellys" at amateur vaudeville nights and charity events.
After getting in fist fights with neighborhood kids who called him a sissy, Gene quit dancing.  He preferred sports. He played on a men's amateur hockey team age at 14 and dreamed of playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Kelly's moved from Highland Park to 7514 Kensington Street in the Point Breeze neighborhood near Frick Park in 1924. Gene attended his first year of high school at the Sacred Heart School.
At age 15 Gene thought dancing would be a good way to meet girls, so he began dancing again. He took dance lessons while also playing on his high school football, baseball and hockey teams.  He also participated in gymnastics.
Graduating from Peabody High School in 1929 he enrolled at Penn State to study journalism.  With the 1930 stock market crash hurting the Kelly family’s finances, Gene left Penn State planning to cut costs by living at home while studying at the University of Pittsburgh.  He dug ditches, pumped gas, worked as a soda fountain jerk and carpenter's helper, and danced to earn tuition money. Gene and his younger brother Fred devised dance routines and found work dancing in local nightclubs as the “Kelly Brothers”.
Gene Kelly Studio of Dance
Gene’s mother took a job as a receptionist at Boulton's dance school in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood. When the owner Lou Boulton skipped town leaving behind a pile of unpaid bills, Harriet took over the dance school.  She paid the bills and renamed it the "Kelly School of Dance".  Gene at age 19 and his brother Fred became dance instructors.  Gene worked as a dance instructor while he attended studies at Pitt.  He taught tap, toe and ballet.  To learn routines Gene went to night clubs, movie musicals and vaudeville shows. He'd teach them the next day in his classes. With Gene’s growing reputation as a teacher the studio was renamed The "Gene Kelly Studio" of the Dance in 1932.  The Kelly’s opened a second dance school on the main street of Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 1933.  Gene taught at the Johnstown school on weekends.  He continued to teach dance for six years.
The dance school was a great success, but Gene was not content being a teacher.  He want to be a choreography and director.  Gene wanted to combine the styles of ballet and tap-dance into a new American dance for.  To learn ballet he took classes from ballet masters in Chicago and New York during the summers.  Gene attened classes at Chicago Association of Dancing Masters.  Seeing his talent the school asked him to a few classes.  Gene also read every book that he could find on ballet in English and French.  He practiced constantly.  Putting his skills into practice Gene danced in an choreographed musicals while attending at the University of Pittsburgh.
Pitt's Cap and Gown Musical Reviews
Gene enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh in 1931 studying economics.  At Pitt he joined the Cap and Gown Club, which staged four times a year at the Stephen Foster Memorial Theater along with an an annual event at the Nixon Theater.  Gene performed in the original musical comedy productions written by members of the Cap and Gown Club.  Completing a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1933, Gene then enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh’s Law School.   After two months of study groups and torts Gene decided that he wanted to be an entertainer and dance teacher.  He dropped out of school to pursue his entertainment career full-time teaching at the dance studio and doing performances.  Gene remained a member of Pitt’s Cap and Gown Club serving as its serving as its dance director from 1934 to 1938.  He was the assistant director of their 1936 Nixon Theater show "Out for the Count".  Gene first created his rolling skating dance routine in the Cap and Gown's production of "Tt's Always Fair Weather".  Gene directed the club's 1937 production of "Trailer Ho" at the Nixon and then took the show on the road for performances in Johnstown, Bradford and Erie. In 1938 Gene Kelly choreographed and directed the Cap and Gown show "Pickets Please" at the Nixon.
In addition to his work with the Cap and Gown Club did choreography for vaudeville and other organizations. Vaudeville acts that passed through Pittsburgh during the 1930’s hired Gene to create dance routines. In 1931 the Rodef Shalom Synagogue hired Kelly to teach dance and stage the annual Kermess show. He kept that position for seven years. Gene continued to perform with his brother. The Kelly Brothers performed in a theater for children at the Chicago World's Fair in 1934.
Broadway Stardom
In 1937 at the age of 27 Gene moved to New York City to become a choreographer. Unable to find work on Broadway, he returned to Pittsburgh to be the choreographer of the musical revue “Hold Your Hats” at the Pittsburgh Playhouse in the spring 1938. He also danced in the production.  At the Playhouse, Gene was seen by Broadway choreographed Robert Alton.  Alton brought Gene to Broadway making him a star.
On August 5, 1938 just before his 26th birthday, Gene packed one small suitcase and returned to New York for his first role.  Alton hired Gene for a Cole Porter musical giving him his first dancing role on Broadway in November of 1938 as a chorus boy in "Leave It to Me".  Alton gave Gene a feature singing and dancing role in his next production “One for the Money”.  In 1939 Gene choreographed and danced in in the Pulitzer Prize-winning "The Time of Your Life".  Also in 1939 he choreographed Billy Rose's Diamond Horseshoe. He danced his way into the heart of cast member Betsy Blair, whom he married in 1941.  Gene became a major star in 1940 with his leading role in Rodgers and Hart's Pal Joey choreographed by Robert Alton.
Movie Musical Superstar
With his rise to stardom, Hollywood called.  His role in Pal Joey captured the interest of Louis B. Mayer and Judy Garland. Gene signed with MGM's David O’Selznick in 1941.  He was cast as Garland's romantic lead in his first movie For Me and My Gal (1942),  His breakout move role was in Anchors Aweigh in 1945.
After a long career as one of the world’s most beloved musical performers Gene Kelly died in 1996.

I had the urge to draw Terrence with Digi. the book “How To Kill CACTUS” was probably sent by one of us. Inside, it says,
“1. Give soil
2. Water once a week
3. Give sunlight”
Digi was originally going to wear a shield on his back to protect himself from Terrence, but it looked like they were going on an adventure together and that is very inaccurate, so I took it out hehe.  (Fun Fact: Terrence is very fast, that is probably why Digi still hasn’t managed to kill him. I can imagine Terrence running straight at Digi with his cactus head pointed at him with Digi screaming uncontrollably. ) - Disgruntled Penguin (Beans)
Author’s Notes: Oml you’ve cursed me I can’t stop pausing and laughing oml I’m crying now what have you done--
HOLY FRICK YOU ARE TALENTED-- LIKE HOLD UP WHAT’S THIS DOING IN MY INBOX AND WHY HAVEN’T I BOWED DOWN TO AND WORSHIPED THE ARTIST YET? I don’t know where Terrance came from or why he’s here, but he’s an absolute menace to Digi’s existence and you couldn’t have put this better, my entire life is complete now, and I have nothing left to look forward to in this dull existence after witnessing this masterpiece. DIGI’S DESIGN IS FREAKING BRILLIANT, and it looks like he’s about to drop the knife and banshee screech when he sees the demon behind him-- Thank you for bringing this to life, you absolute god among men.
(Also. I got your other submission with the cast, and after some talking with the author, we wanted to post it on Thursday where we can have something special planned for it. Thank you. Thank you so much for making my month.)

Avenue south residence
Would you like to take a tour of the major art museums of the world for free (except for the cost of your internet service)? To discover, in the words of art historian Andre Malraux, a "museum without walls," from New York to Seoul, Paris to Moscow, Amsterdam to Buenos Aires, where you can explore countless paintings, sculptures, photography, decorative arts, and other media guided by art experts?
For today art museums, from the oldest institutions to 21st century art collections, are increasingly investing their time and creativity in developing websites for virtual visitors like you.
Here is a summary of the variety of art museum websites available to you.
SUPER MUSEUMS. The Louvre and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Prado and the State Hermitage Museum represent just a few of the "mega" museums. For example, the Metropolitan Museum of Art holds thousands of works of art in a variety of media, spanning centuries of art history, from ancient Egypt to the modern period. Its galleries display European, American, African, Asian, and Oceanic art. In addition, the museum exhibits special collections of costumes, furniture, armor, and musical instruments.
Super museum websites often offer extensive online collections with colorful images and detailed descriptions. Current exhibitions are also highlighted with information on past and upcoming Avenue south residences condo  shows. In addition, educational and interactive opportunities are available with special features such as videos, podcasts, blogs, social media, and virtual tours.
Google "list of most visited art museums in the world" to find more super museums.
A MUSEUM OF ONE'S OWN. Are you a fan of Van Gogh? The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam houses the largest collection of his works in the world. Its website is an excellent resource for Van Gogh's paintings, drawings, and letters as well as providing a chronicle of the major periods of his career. Or you might check out the websites of other museums dedicated to one artist such as Georgia O'Keeffe, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Edvard Munch, Auguste Rodin, Marc Chagall, and Norman Rockwell.
SPECIALTY MUSEUMS. Some museums focus mainly on one style or period of art. You might investigate the websites of the three unique museums below.
Impressionist Treasures. The Musee d'Orsay, located in a remodeled Beaux Arts train station in Paris, is THE museum for Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, unrivaled in the number and quality of its works. Its unique website showcases more than 800 masterpieces by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Rodin, and a long list of other leading artists of this period.
The Genius of Italy. Florence was one of the birthplaces of the Renaissance and its Uffizi Gallery holds the most comprehensive collection of that artistic movement (including Botticelli's famed Birth of Venus and Primavera). And you can browse through almost every gallery on the Google Art Project.
Inside the Acropolis. The new Acropolis Museum (just opened in 2009) displays probably the most beautiful sculptures in Western art; experience them in virtual reality through both the museum website and the Google Art Project.
MASTER COLLECTORS. Discover the best of the great collectors and their visions of art on the websites of the following art museums: Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, a palace of art built by American heiress Gardner in her hometown of Boston; the J. Paul Getty Museum that introduces you to the priceless collections of the oil billionaire at two sites, the Los Angeles center and the Getty Villa decorated with ancient Greek and Roman art in Malibu; and The Frick Collection, the elegant Fifth Avenue mansion of 19th century mogul, Henry Clay Frick, with galleries of Vermeer, Rembrandt, and other famed European artists.
MUSEUMS, MUSEUMS, AND MORE MUSEUMS. When the first Guggenheim Museum, designed by architectural pioneer Frank Lloyd Wright, finally opened in New York City in 1959, its founder Solomon R. Guggenheim had been dead a decade. Could he have envisioned that four more art museums with his family name would someday be in Venice (1980), Berlin (1997), Bilbao, Spain (1997), and Abu Dhabi (planned completion 2017)? Take a look at the New York, Venice and Bilbao Guggenheim museum websites; each one provides an overview of its collection plus images of the distinctive architecture of its building.

Every Line of 26 by Paramore Ranked By The Force With Which it Rips My Heart Out and Stomps On it
16. And I’ll forget every cynical thing you said (After a swathe of cynical songs like Hard Times and Rose-Colored Boy, this plea for relief from the harshness of cynicism cuts dEEp. It really shows how sometimes we can take on the destructive qualities of others if they hurt us enough, and sometimes there are parts of ourselves that contribute to our own pain even if we try to ignore it :,()
15. Everything was fine until you came round (Just the quiet way Hayley sings this is so heartbreaking, and the implications of what this person did to her mental health? UGH)
14. They say that dreaming is free, but I wouldn’t care what it cost me (Here we see Hayley’s absolute desperation for dreams, for optimism, for a tiny glimmer of hope, and that is so freaking sad)
13. When you gonna hear me out? (Have you HEARD the way she sings this line! The fed-up, pained way she sings the first part and then the ever-so-quiet ‘out’,,,, a masterpiece)
12. I’ve been chasing after dreamers in the clouds (I love how she says ‘dreamers’, implying that she not only needs dreams of her own but at this moment she needs the presence of dreamers and hopeful people to help her through, and that hits so close to home for me, and I’m sure many others as well. Like, when we’re going through rough times the company of positive people is ESSENTIAL and it’s so beautiful to hear this be expressed so perfectly)
11. After all wasn’t I the one who said to keep your feet on the ground? (This reference to Brick By Boring Brick is EVERYTHING. The character development,, the self-awareness,, the recognition that sometimes our needs and values change,, finally some good fricking food)
10. Man, you really know how to get someone down/Man, you really brought me back down/Man, you really bring me down (Every time Hayley sings this she sounds so broken, so beaten down by this person she’s singing about and dude it HURTS)
9. Survival will not be the hardest part (I just really love this idea about the weight of human existence being more than just staying alive. It’s so painful to hear but so true)
8. You’ve got me tied up, but I stay close to the window (Wow what a POWERFUL metaphor, is all I’ll say about that)
7. Reality will break your heart (The definitive, almost resigned way she says this is heartbreaking bro. And the way the songwriting speaks to Paramore’s audience is so special, every single lyric here is spot on and this one comes for my THROAT every time, and the fact that this song is supposed to be a message to Hayley’s younger self make it sO MUCH WORSE and I just want to give her a big hug :()
6. Don’t let it go for nobody (UGHHH the idea that people will try and take your hope away and all you can do is cling to it and not let anyone steal it is so precious, I hold this line dear to my heart)
5. I’ll talk to myself about the places that I used to go (There’s such a strange nostalgic note to this line and it makes me want to cry, it sounds so warm yet so lonely, plus the twinkly glockenspiel sounds in the background are the cherry on top)
4. I’m hoping someday maybe I’ll just float away (I don’t know how but the words themselves feel like they’re floating away when Hayley sings this and the only way I can explain it is that this song is made of magic)
3. It’s keeping all your hopes alive, while the rest of you has died (This lyric hurts in a big way, it hurts to remember all the dreams you had when you were younger and realise how many you’ve given up on, and it hurts to picture yourself cultivating these hopes and dreams amidst such darkness that is everything else in life)
2. Hold onto hope if you got it (’if you got it’. IF YOU GOT IT (!!!) I can’t really elaborate further, Miss Williams is a genius and this line is pure, heartbreaking gold)
1. So let it break your heart (This song is so incredibly special and sad and hopeful and bittersweet and there is absolutely nothing like it, and I feel like this line is the most important of all. Everything about it is so perfect, the raw, quiet, honest way Hayley sings this, the way she is talking to both herself and the audience, the way the music cute out for a moment, it’s all so so beautiful and I love this line with my whole heart <3)

My little (not so little) Kingdom Hearts III’s review :)
(possible spoilers under the cut)
Somebody asked for my personal opinion about the game, so, here I am! I’ll try to be as objective as possible, even if you probably know already my deep affection for this saga and for its creators XD
Let’s start with the positive things, the things that really impressed me the most about KH3, which are: the graphic (even the in-game one), the gameplay, the huge amount of enjoyable exploration. And then I’ll start voting the rest, by giving my opinion.
 - Graphic: 10/10. I was able to see the pores on Sora’s face and on Terra’s hands. I was able to zoom on the smallest details with my Gummiphone and still find some amazing details in the landscape. Literally EVERYTHING was so well done i had to stop more than once to admire what i was playing. It was stunning. Let’s not even talk about the Disney cutscenes, because those were a masterpiece and i have no words to describe them.
- Gameplay: 10/10. Listen, i never played a game where there were so MANY options for the gameplay. I beated the 13 darknesses by using attractions, limits, different forms, combined moves, special abilities, combos, different keyblades ... There were so many minigames, ideas, i fought on Baymax, i fought as a captain of a ship, i cooked, I did treasure hunts, took pictures, the gummiship style too ... every fricking world offered so many different gameplays options i even freaked out because i wasn’t able to learn them all. It was so FUN!
- Exploration; 10/10. Let’s be real, every world (except Twilight Town lol) was as huge as all the Disney worlds of the previous KH games together. Really, i was lost. It was even too much. It will take me a lifetime to explore all the worlds in all its beautiful details xD for ex in the POTC’s world we are able to access to at least 6 different islands + Port Royal + underwater + the battles setting + we command an entire sailing ship. Also, have you try to collect all the lucky emblems? Because I think they all are in some areas i still don’t know they exist. It was AMAZING.
- Music: 8/10. I love “Face my fears” so much, i like “Don’t think twice” a lot, Utada is always a queen. As for Yoko, she never dissapoints me either, even though this time she didn’t came out with “new” brilliant melodies like she did in the other games. She mostly arranged differently songs and themes we already were familiar with, which is nostalgic and happily welcomed anyway. + Bonus Points to Somnus song mixed together with Hikari. Wow.
- Plot twists/Surprise/content/plot elements: 8.5/10. Every Kingdom Hearts game needs a huge amount of “WHAt-THE-moments” and KH3 makes no exception. The final battles and the endings were a concentrated of twists and turns, starting from Yen Sid, to Ephemer, from Sora dying (like twice, during this game? the last one almost got me tho), to Kairi dying, from Xigbar’s real identity to Yozora officially inserted in KH’s main plot etc etc. It was a rollercoaster. And I loved it. Funny enough, the only “secret” that didn’t feel like a “secret” was the “secret” that Nomura defined the “biggest secret” XD ... aka Roxas xD I mean, they talked about making a replica for Roxas all the game long, so when Roxas actually appeared and claimed that Vexen made a replica for him, i was like ... yeah, thanks, that’s not a brand new information xD Talking about Vexen, him and the rest of the Organization had some really nice surprising elements, their story was worthy.
- The narrative/structure/pace: 6.5/10. Ok, here’s the thing. Even if the actual story content was interesting and pretty good, there were problems in the pace and we all hardcore fans noticed it. Why was that? Because they changed some things they shouldn’t have changed in order to give more space to Disney worlds.
For ex, I’m talking about the fact that we started our adventure in ... the Olympus world. I have nothing against that world of course. But in KH1 we started in Destiny Islands/Traverse Town. In KH2 we started in Twilight Town. In KHBBS we started in the Land of the Departure. In KH3 we should have respected traditions and start from an original world. Why? Because original worlds are strictly connected to the original characters’ development + main plot. By making Sora starting in a Disney world, they cut out an extremely important part in the KH3 story’s development, aka the very own basis. And  no, Twilight Town arrived 3 hours later, and was half as big as the other Disney worlds, so it doesn’t really stand the competion.
So, by putting so many Disney worlds and cutting out the original worlds, they confused the storyline’s pace. The actual story’s progression was reduced to some cutscenes between a world and another which is ... not a really good idea. We needed at least one or two more playable original worlds somewhere there in between, like KH2 had Radiant Garden and KH1 had Traverse Town, so that the story could have been developed  and the characters would have been able to meet and interact properly.
In fact, the biggest problem is that the entire main plot is rushed in the last hours of the game. 35 hours of funny happy Disney gameplay. 5 hours of actual plot. It’s not balanced. The player didn’t feel the rising pressure for the final battle of light against darkness. No matter how epic the Keyblade War actually was, of course it felt a bit rushed, because it popped out all of a sudden and wasn’t smoothly inserted from the beginning of the game.
I can actually justify this choice though: KH3′s purpose was to give a conclusion to Xehanort’s saga. Which means they didn’t plan to develop the story or the characters more than what they already had in the previous games. They just wanted to show a proper “conclusion”. Not “development”.
It’s not the choice i would have taken in terms of storytelling, but it’s an option so i’m not really angry about it. It worked anyway because almost all the characters really had a solid background plot. .... almost. Which sadly leads to the sore point of the game. Here we go.
- Characters development: 7/10. Kingdom Hearts has a large quantity of very developed characters. Kingdom Hearts’ original characters are the ones who entered in out hearts years ago and we love them for a reason. They’re all well characterized, with specific strengths and weaknesses. Which means that no matter how weird the pace of KH3 could have been, the characters have been so well written in the previous games that they were able to tollerate everything in terms or story telling. Sora, Riku, Aqua, Roxas, Axel, Ventus, Xion, Terra, Naminè .... they all had a major role in KH’s plot on their shoulders and unique facets. But one character was strongly penalized by this the rhythm of KH3: Kairi.
Unlike most of the other characters that belong to the famous trios, Kairi could never count on a strong background, nor a good characterization.
Even though i liked her in KH1 (where she at least interacted with both Sora and Riku multiple times and had a part in the main plot, even if she was comatose for 80% of the time), it’s not a secret that she got benched immediately after that. KH2 didn’t make her justice with all that being kidnapped, and in the next games she completely dissapeared even. She was never involved in the story ever again. What am i referring to?
In Birth By Sleep, only Sora and Riku met all the members of the wayfinder trio and played an actual part in their lives. Kairi barely meet Aqua once, and never played an active part in her life anyway. I mean, Aqua never needed Kairi for anything, never. On the contrary, both Sora and Riku were vital for all the members of the wayfinder trio, back then and later on.
In Chain of Memories, Coded, 358/2 days ... Kairi was replaced with two other girls that quickly became more interesting than Kairi herself, aka Naminé and Xion. In those stories Kairi is barely mentioned and almost never appears. But Sora and Riku ... oh, Sora and Riku! They’re the PROTAGONISTS. They always interact, they always appear, they always do stuff.
Let’s not even talk about Dream Drop Distance, where it’s JUST Sora and RIku.
What’s my point? The Destiny trio isn’t a trio, it’s a duo. Kairi is ALWAYS put in a corner, she never has a part in the story.
I’m not talking about ships, i don’t care about ships, I don’t ship Soriku nor Sokai, it’s not about this. The problem is Kairi’s character development, which did not exist. Not only a development, but even a purpose was missing.
So, since i kinda liked her in KH1 and the potential was there, i thought that KH3 would have set things right for her. I had high hopes especially because of Axel, I was like, “WOW here it is a great potential for a good, healthy, platonic relationship, finally Kairi found someone to be paired with and do stuff. We will finally see her being weak, finding her power again, maybe she will be a playable character, maybe she will interact with BOTH Sora and RIku too, making jokes, express her preferences etc etc” yeah and what we got? Kairi is reduced to a mere man pain object again. She almost forgot about Axel once that Sora appeared. She got kidnapped here and there all along. Again. She kinda forced Sora to eat that fruit and never asked for his opinion, while Riku was having an existential drama going on just some steps away. But i don’t think she cares for Riku anyway since she never had any kind of bond time with him and isn’t interested in his problems. She fought once (badly), revealing that her training was somehow useless (she had to be saved by Sora and the others). She gets killed (pretty stupidly too) and Sora had to sacrifice to bring her back. And what made me angry the most: Sora’s heart gets lost in the process of saving her but it’s NOT Kairi the one going after him in the secret ending. IT’S RIKU. LIKE WHAAAT?? Riku?? She can’t even take her girly keyblade and go after the boy she is supposed to love and that died for her?? Riku has to do it? Really? It’s ridiculous. ...
Furthermore, she wasn’t a playable character. The only characters that we were able to play were Sora, Riku and .... Aqua! Pretty funny. (I think they are Nomura’s favorites, i don’t know.)
Kairi’s only part in KH3 was changing outfit and “being Sora’s light” somehow but ... that was so much out of the blue and most likely an isolated moment. It could have been a nice coronation for a developed love story but the problem is that no development was there before.
So, going back to my point.
Even if i would have chosen another way to tell the story, the rushed pace of KH3 worked for everyone anyway, except for Kairi. Kairi needed a different treatment.
But at this point i don’t think she will ever get it, probably Nomura doesn’t like her too much since he decided to make another DreamDropDistance game settled in Insommia next time xD so i give up on her. I’ll focus on the other beautiful female characters of this game.
Anyway, even if i talked a lot about why Kairi was another flop, i want to point out how interesting some characters got instead. I’m talking about Xigbar (great plot twist), Saix, Demyx, Vexen (Vexen had so much importance, i mean, i didn’t expect him to be the one moving kh3’s plot), Luxord, Marluxia, Larxene and Repliriku! They used to be marginal characters and now they turned out to be protagonists, it’s amazing.
- FF characters: 7/10. I really loved Verum Rex’s surprise, it’s a clever idea to recycle the Versus characters and concepts Nomura couldn’t bring to life. Now that Nomura turned them into original characters, he has the copyright over them again thanks to Disney and he can use them as much as he wants, bringing the “ff characters cameos in kh” on a brand new level. Starting from the next game, we will have semi-FFcharacters included in the main plot, not just having a cameo here and there, which is amazing!
But. This doesn’t mean i didn’t miss actual FF characters in Kh3. Cloud, Leon&Co left a hole in kh’s tradition.
Let’s sum it up my notes:
Graphic: 10/10 +
Gameplay: 10/10 +
Exploration: 10/10 +
Music: 8/10 +
Plot twists/Surprise/Content/Plot elements: 8.5/10. +
The narrative/structure/pace: 6.5/10. +
Characters development: 7/10. +
FF characters: 7/10. +
Total = 8,3
AND ... THAT’S IT FOR NOW I GUESS? xD

The Frick Collection was established in 1935 in Manhattan, New York. It was the home of industrialist and art patron Henry Clay Frick during his lifetime, and it is now the resting place of the beautiful works of art that he collected. It really is a beautiful place to visit.
It’s a shame it will be losing some of its masterpieces soon enough.
We already know what our thieves are stealing. There are three Vermeers kept there, two in the South Hall and one in the West Gallery. The one their buyer wants is Girl Interrupted at her Music, but the other two on top of it are just icing on the cake. If they have the chance to get more money, who are they to say no?
There is no clue or riddle to this heist. We already know what, when, and where. Instead, there’s something else hidden. Look closely.
If you find what was hidden, message us on the main. The first person to figure it out will get a special prize.
This first little event will last until NEXT WEDNESDAY, but canonically will take place over the evening of February 8th and 9th.
During the day of the 8th, The Forger takes time to study some of the pieces of the Frick Collection, none of the ones they are going to steal, but they watch the patterns of the security guards. With the help of The Specialist, they install cameras of their own in the museum. The cameras watch the security guards and the art they’re looking to steal.
The Spy knows one of the security guards from their past. During his rounds, they talk and the guard is too involved in the conversation to pay attention to anything else. The Muscle is there, having come behind The Spy. They jimmy open a door, breaking a lock so it can be opened from the outside.
The Distraction and The Right Hand are posing as someone interested in donating some rare pieces to the museum. They are talking to one of the curators of the museum, one who normally stays late at the museum to take care of things. The curator invites them to his office, where they can talk specifics in private. This conversation lasts long past closing. The curator isn’t bothered by it, too absorbed in the idea of getting new pieces to display.
Just as the Frick Collection is about to close for the evening, after security has settled down at their monitors, The Getaway Driver storms in, The Medic on their heels. One of the Collection’s employees hit their car and there will be hell to pay. As the scene goes on, The Cat Burglar and The Freeloader sneak in behind them, unnoticed. They’re after the three pieces. They carry a bag with the forgeries in with them.
As soon as those two are in, The Getaway Driver calms down, saying it wasn’t as bad as they expected. They leave without fuss, going back to the car. They circle around the block.
The Hacker and The Muscle are across the street, sitting on a park bench. The Hacker has managed to get into the security system of the Frick -- they’ve gotten into the security system. They turn off alarms. They cause the video footage to loop over and over on the monitors of the security guards.
The Ringleader and The Pickpocket are waiting below the South Hall window, waiting to get the first two pieces out.
There is a lot of freedom here with the first heist. You can roleplay any of the scenes listed, and those beyond with what they do besides it. What did your characters do earlier in the day in New York? Did they run into anyone they knew? Were they relaxed or anxious?
During the heist, your characters should know what they were meant to do. When they are done their parts, they’re meant to get away from the Frick with little fuss. There is a car with a driver besides the Getaway Driver. Whoever is not in the Collection can be waiting in a car or in the city ( we love an alibi ).
If you want any risk or drama to come up, double check with an admin before doing anything too wild ( i.e. character death, getting caught ).
