I would like an anime Consortium, if only for the "beach" episode
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I already drew Fabius and Cesare at the beach.
But not anime-style, of course.
Well, I could do that, though.

The Invisible Strings
The episode String Theory lives up to its name, as on first glance it seems a good episode with a question about what you’re really fighting for, but the fact that it’s an episode to easily overlook on first glance is the first sign it lives up to its name.
We don’t know that Meechum worked on the Nanite Project; we don’t know that he knew Van Kleiss previously; and don’t know that he knew Rex’s parents. All of these interconnected strings are thinly veiled within the episode.
When Rex asks Knight about Meechum as a person, Knight brushes it off and told him he knew everything about him from the briefings. At first it acts as the though how the writers want us to perceive White—a cynical, pragmatic government official that believes a handful of lives are a worthy sacrifice to save the rest of humanity. Then it isn’t until season three do we realize that White knew more than what he was letting on. Which adds to the possibility of how much the Consortium told him after he became the Nanite free, but we didn’t question it because the writers were focused on making White come off as hate-able or moral grey as possible. Then it begs the question of whether or not he knew or found reports of Rex’s parents or did Consortium write that out after they deduced that they caused the Nanite Event? This episode on rewatch makes you ask these types of questions.
Now onto Meechum. At first, he comes off as victim/one off antagonist for the villain of the week episode. Again, we weren’t meant to question any further. He’s a man who was threatened by Van Kleiss because he was holding his daughter hostages. A stressed father who wants his daughter back it isn’t until season three episode Mind Game that it’s revealed that he was a part of the original team. Even by his personality and general appearance, you can definitely tell Meechum was a pushover when it came to what they should do with the Nanites. We know that Van Kleiss forced him to do the attack on Manhattan, so he had to know already that Meechum was a pushover. It also explains why Providence wasn’t after him or initially any of previous scientists unless they caused trouble—i.e. Dr. Rylander.
I find that interesting in the way Providence/the Consortium views the members of Nanite Project. Rylander? Outright named to be apart of the project in Dark Passage. The Salazars? They assumed they were dead and didn’t say anything, and didn’t know about the son or thought Rex was unimportant. Van Kleiss? They initially thought he may have died, but now he’s a leader of his country and they now only choose to keep an eye on him should he cause trouble. Which he did. Now Meechum? Meechum for all we know could have been given hush money and the promise of his daughter’s safety of never talking about the Nanite Project. Everything about him screams meek, nervous and “I’m a pushover” in his introduction episode, and it again establishes why he’s easy to look over compared to all the others.
He’s a man who believed that those stronger and authoritative were better than him, than to take control of his own life. All it took was one boy, that he may or may not recognize, that he is a person no matter what. So when we see him again in season three, he walks and talks with a different attitude…a more confident attitude because Rex gave him a paradigm shift. He openly questions the Consortium and doing the restart of the Nanite project, but he’s willing to cooperate if that’s what everyone else wants or if his daughter is in danger.
As for Rex saving his daughter, it adds an interesting layer of if Meechum knew Rex. Perhaps not as he didn’t seem close to the Salazars as Van Kleiss or Rylander were, but the irony of Rex saving his daughter—even in that point of the plot—he doesn’t remember his parents or brother but he was the one to save Meechum’s daughter is touching when you look back on it.
As for Van Kleiss and what he wanted from him, I am uncertain but it may possibly have to do with the Meta Nanite or maybe it doesn’t, and that Kleiss really wanted him to wreck havoc on the world. If it has something to do with the Meta Nanite, it could explain why he never told Six, Holiday or Rex because he was possibly afraid that the Consortium is listening. I find that it’s interesting that after a rewatch, it was Van Kleiss who found him of all people. What we assume is basic villain stuff becomes layered with questions of it is it more of basic villain stuff after doing rewatches. Consortium was not too thrilled to hear that two former Nanite scientists were working together with one leading an army of EVOs while another turns EVO. They were probably quick to agree to White’s idea of the safe house. Which would also set up for easy access later like White said.
String Theory lives up to it name of having thinly veiled lines connecting characters. This episode may be considered meh on first viewing, but it becomes the most important episode on rewatches.
I hope you enjoyed my blurb. Have a nice day/evening.

Let me introduce you to the guy who became the main character of my workplace today.
One of my colleagues came across the following book in our online book collection:
Tumblr media
She checked it out and quickly noticed that a lot of the text was odd or incoherent. And, surprise! It was published in 2023. She immediately suspected it was AI generated, and by the time I joined her and another coworker, they had been investigating the author's web presence, which involved. Well. Quite the Amazon listing.
Apparently Mr. Brandl has self-published 297 books, with many massive tomes getting released on the same day. A few of my personal favorites are
Conscientiology, Spirituality and Consciousness for Axillary and Upper Limb Lymph Nodes
Introduction to the UFO (just the one I guess)
Evacuation Plan in the Event of an Atomic Bomb Warning
Guerilla Techniques to Avoid Domestic Violence??? (imagining digging spike pits to capture your spouse now)
From a professional standpoint this is very upsetting because people continue to spew garbage into the information landscape making it harder and harder to find legitimate materials, and misinformation on some of these topics can genuinely hurt people. The average consumer is not particularly careful about what they're reading, which I know because I have students try to get scientific articles from the 1800s approved for their papers. But at least in this case it is kind of funny. Hold my hand. Let's read The Negative Role that the Collective Unconscious Can Have in the Planet’s Food Security together. Then after that this incredible renaissance man will teach us how to fight with two swords at once.

And haven't been able to get it out of my mind.
All of them in the same city with a studio? Each of them in their own dorm rooms/apartments in the same building? Each in a different city except each little cluster of people has a mini-portal or a way-stone type thing that lets them visit each other or at least lets Danny appear by them when needed? (And sometimes just to be there)?
I want each of them to have their own channels but guest star on each other's so often that they decide to just make it a big company.
Give me prank wars between Danny, Tucker and Sam's let's play channel and Dash and Kwan's challenge channel. Give me Sam or Valerie coming on to Paulina's makeup channels to do cold case and makeup videos. Give me Star doing an ASMR sorting video of the gaming station. Give me Danny guesting on Wes' conspiracy channel talking about what's real or not about ghosts. Give me a series where Tucker and Mikey make all the basic science class projects. Give me Sam and Val destroying Dash and Kwan at the Navy physical exam.

they still made that ghoul too fucking smooth
i 100% agree (the tv series ghoul has ears, even! how dare they!) but i guess it's close enough to the fallout 4 ghouls; my worst expectation was basically just noseless make-up and a bad tan. i'd like to see it in different lighting before really making a call on it but i really wish they gave him nastier teeth though and those black eyes

personally i like how wet the FO3/NV ghouls look but I figure that Frank Cotton-esque goop and decay was either out of the budget or too off-putting to feature too heavily

Scully's Abduction, Emily Sim, and the Lost Scully Baby
Tumblr media
SOLVING SCULLY'S ABDUCTION DATES
The answer to the question of when Scully was returned differs here and there. Sometime after 11/2/94 and on or before 11/11/94 seems to be the consensus: themareks posits November 2nd, xfilestimeline.net guesses in-between the 2nd and 11th, and epguides stands by the 11th as both One Breath's airdate and Scully's reappearance.
But how long was Scully gone?
Mulder states in Emily: "She [Scully] was missing for four weeks. That's documented in the file."
And to further back up that abduction timeline, Mulder later finds a medical paperwork in the nursing home containing Scully's full name next to a possible abduction date: 13/10/94. At the very least, October 13 was when the government tagged her in their system, meaning Scully was likely abducted on the 12th or 13th and returned not on the 2nd but on the 11th.
Tumblr media
WAS SCULLY IMPREGNATED DURING HER ABDUCTION?
Mulder's filed report contains another tidbit he never shared with his partner: it states (as read aloud by the official overseeing Emily's custody case) that Scully was "subjected to a series of experiments where... they extracted her ova."
Tumblr media
The episode divulges the 'how's a few scenes later: abductees or unwitting volunteers were put into "beauty sleep" by the Syndicate doctors before being injected with a series of enhanced drugs to stimulate ovulation for extraction. Essentially, the women were put through a process similar to the early stages of IVF treatments, for far more nefarious purposes.
After the extracted ova were combined with suitable sperm or cloned with alien DNA, they were not returned to the womb but were instead grown separately in metal and glass containers filled with a green-not-gray alien liquid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NURSING HOME MOTHERS
As is the end result of man playing God, the Syndicate pushed the bounds of their "science" by dabbling with the unconscionable: they darkened the doors of nursing homes, developing an extra preceding step that involved "awakening" and growing the ova of older women to maturation before subjecting them to the "beauty sleep." These women were the perfect targets, either too confused or too forgetful to intelligently articulate what was happening to them; and Dr. Calderon and his cohorts banked on repeating their experimental process for unlimited ova until death claimed their patients in natural or unnatural ways. (Unfortunately for Dr. Calderon, his aspirations were cut short when Mulder threatened exposure.)
Tumblr media
So, to recap: the women were violated, not impregnated.
THE ROANOKE SCULLY
What's even worse?
While investigating the nursing home, Mulder not only finds the aforementioned paperwork listing Scully's full name and possible abduction date but also a corresponding fetus, alive and kicking, in its own little container of green fluid.
This, too, was Scully's child; and it, too, was likely killed or discarded as medical waste during the Consortium's coverup.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"NATURAL", CLONE, OR HYBRID?
Though not entirely explained in Emily (or after), the fetuses grew at unimaginably rapid rates from conception to "birth" in a month's time; but the cost of accelerated growth sacrificed their health, causing the babies born to be dependent on consistent injections of their mysterious gestation fluid in order to survive.
What were those babies, then? Clones? Hybrids? Fully human?
Tumblr media
My personal theory? Emily was a hybrid. Not only would this fit the injections and extractions and underhanded IVF machinations in Season 8 (quality of its writing aside), but it would also correlate the mirroring aims of Emily's Dr. Calderon and Per Manum's Dr. Parenti. Parenti stuffed his batch of alien-human hybrid babies into identical containers of fluid, too (albeit for darker purposes.)
The episodes she appears in provides evidence of its own. Even though clones created from alien DNA bleed green and Emily bled red, her blood still released toxic fumes for self-defense, which means Emily's DNA couldn't have been fully human even if both ova and sperm were tampered with before insemination (a feat the Syndicate couldn't accomplish despite their many, many horrific attempts.)
CONCLUSIONS
Not only was Scully never pregnant but she was also never abducted more than once, making her an anomaly even amongst the other MUFON women. This leads me to believe the first round of experimentation inflicted on her was so severe that the Syndicate deemed Scully too great a risk for future harvesting... which was also likely why she was left to die (even if CSM "returned her to you" for a merciful death surrounded by the ones she loved.) Serving no further purpose to the Project, she had been considered waste and was, therefore, disposable.
Tumblr media
Emily, too, was ultimately doomed to die after the Consortium or Dr. Calderon tired of his experiments; and if it hadn't been for Melissa Scully's ghostly interference, Emily Sim would have been torn from her parents the minute they stopped towing the line and raised elsewhere as a lab rat-- unloved and, again, tossed aside when deemed no longer necessary.
Tumblr media
Finally, there's still one Scully child unaccounted for.
Existence begun and ended in obscurity, it was likely squirreled away or destroyed along with any remaining evidence of Dr. Calderon's work-- a loose end from a man no longer needed by his overlords.
However, the thought that Mulder was the only person other than its merciless creators to behold this tiny fetus is one best pondered on a dark, lonely night when one is in the mood for either melancholy or heart failure.
Tumblr media
Thank you for reading~
Enjoy!

Somebody: Hey, sorry I'm late. I hope you weren't waiting long
Me, with all the passion of a social media influencer doing a sponsorship: It's okay, I don't mind waiting, because I have Libby! Libby is a free app that lets me access my local public library's entire catalogue of ebooks and audiobooks on my phone for free! Plus, I can upload multiple library cards and compare wait time across networks, so I get the books I want when I want them! My local library network has a deal with other library networks across the state, so with one card I can access over half a dozen collections! Libby also saves my place if I return a book without finishing it and then check it out again later. How convenient!

White proved that Consortium are a bunch of idiot capitalists. Hear me out—
In Black and White, it is revealed that a meta Nanite was hidden in his old office and could only be accessed by person who is a hundred percent Nanite free.
He must’ve done this at some point after he was Nanite free and Consortium interested this with him as a right of passage, but they forgot that their Nanite free poster boy hates Nanites. If there is one thing White hates more is in his hundred percent Nanite free being are Nanites. So I believe after he learned of this along with who was involved in the Nanite Project, he gives them their “yes, sirs” and nods before commissioning a hard to access lock.
So either White was playing them after they told him their secrets once he was Nanite free or the Consortium are freaking idiot capitalists who failed to realize that of course he’d have a ultra powerful Nanite hidden behind a lock that required a person who was a hundred percent Nanite free.
Rosewell: So you’re telling me our Nanite free poster boy hid the Meta Nanite do-hickey? Who’s fucking idea was that?!
Reddick: Last I checked, you agreed to it.
Rosewell: If I knew this would happened I would’ve retracted my vote!
Reddick: It’s a bit late for that, isn’t it?
Scott: Besides, he was good for the media in knowing it’s possible to be Nanite free.
Rosewell: Yeah…AND WE CAN’T GET THE DAMN NANITE!
Xanubuian: *Watches his compatriots argue like idiots.*
Black Knight: *Watching her superiors be idiots.*
Vostok: *Wondering why he’s surrounded by idiots.*
White Knight, everyone, the man who made a bunch of capitalists and crooks look like idiots.

Our library is part of a really big Overdrive consortium and I wish we had a discord server so we could all talk to each other. I want to be able to send messages like 'hey we own the first books of several middle grade series but nothing else and that bugs me but I'm not spending college funds on MG titles, can someone take care of that' or 'who bought the AI generated herbal medicine guide, I just want to talk' or 'why didn't anyone buy Portrait of a Thief when I requested it several years ago so I could do a Lunar New Years display'

Oh Canada! Oh no!
A trans-identified male athlete has taken the top spot in yet another Canadian women’s running competition, adding to the growing list of victories against female athletes he has claimed since transitioning.
Tiffany Newell, 50, has now placed first in the women’s indoor 1500 meter running competition for women aged 50-54, which was held in Toronto, Ontario this past week. This is Newell’s latest victory and has added to his long list of first-place rankings and records in women’s running competitions.
Tumblr media
On January 8, Newell took the top spot in the women’s 3000 meter for women aged 45-49 at the Winter Mini Meet, and would rank first in the women’s 5000 meter for women aged 45-49 just days later.
He then went on to rank first in the 1500 meter for women aged 45-49 on February 5, and, following a birthday which placed him in a new age category, ranked first in the 1500 meter in the category for women aged 50-54 in a competition held from February 23 to February 26 in Toronto.
The news of Newell’s latest victory was announced by the International Consortium on Women’s Sport, a campaign group advocating for sexed categories, prompting anger and disbelief from those concerned with the preservation of women’s sport.
“That is ridiculous and no fan of athletics will view it as any sort of achievement,” wrote Colin Winter in response to the announcement. “It is a farce & everyone knows it but too many are too frit to say so. Frit is no excuse. If one’s job is to protect the integrity of a sport, that is what one has to do. If unable to do so, resign.”
Some have also expressed concern that Newell’s new age classification will result in him now seizing the 5000 meter title from Maria Zambrano, a female athlete with multiple records across the age groups she has competed in.
Tumblr media
Last year, Newell set a Canadian record in the 5000 meter indoor running competition for women aged 45-49 held at Toronto’s York University. Newell ran 18:02.30over the distance, besting the previous record by six seconds. His record was ratified by the Canadian Masters Athletics in December, and it became the first time a trans-identified male athlete in Canada broke a national record in track.
At that same competition, Newell also placed first in the women’s 800 meter race for women aged 45-49.
His victories earned him an “honorable mention” as the Ontario Master’s Athlete of the Month in March of 2022, just one month after snatching the top spots.
In January of 2023, Newell placed first in the women’s 5000 meter for women aged 45-49 once again during the Ontario Master’s Mini Meet held in Toronto.
Previously, Newell won a silver medal at the 2021 Canadian XC Championships in the masters 8K, and also finished second at the 2022 Hamilton Marathon.
Tumblr media
Newell began transitioning in 2017, but began competing in women’s sport in 2020 after claiming to have met the recommended testosterone levels as set by the World Athletics guidelines on transgender athletes.
Last June, the global regulator for swimming, diving and water polo issued a ruling barring transgender athleteswho experienced male puberty from swimming and other aquatic sports. FINA opted to create an “open category” instead in order to preserve the fairness of sexed categories. The decision came after international backlash surrounding the success of Lia Thomas, a trans-identified male, in women’s swimming.
In an interview with Running Magazine earlier this year, Newell rejected the concept of an “open category” for transgender athletes in running, and claimed he should be allowed to compete against females as he identified as such.
“The policy makes sense for non-binary athletes, but I don’t feel comfortable racing against men. It categorizes me in the sex I am not identified as,” Newell said. “I am a woman, and I feel most comfortable racing against women or other transgender women. I believe an open category can work if athletes can continue to race against athletes of the same gender.”
Despite protests from trans activists, studies have consistently affirmed that trans-identified male athletes retain a significant edge over their female counterparts, even after starting hormone therapy.
In 2020, a study released in the British Journal of Sport Medicine noted that trans-identified males were able to complete 31% more push-ups and 15% more sit-ups in one minute on average than a female Air Force service member. They also ran 1.5 miles 21% faster.
But even after two years on testosterone suppression treatment, the males were still 12% faster on average than biological females.
