As angels are beings of light, they do not require food or drink for sustenance. During the month of Ramadan, we should strive to cultivate an angelic presence within ourselves.

The believer lives in the moment, but isn't trapped by the moment. They know their responsibility (muhimma) in life--to seek the Pleasure of Allah and serve Allah's creation. This is what the believer makes their concerns (hamm), and this is what they direct their resolve (himma) towards.

If everybody individually does their part, this is how true change is going to come. Allah Subhana Wa Ta’Ala is not going to put us in a state of pain for no reason. There is wisdom behind it, there is something that we need to get as a result of it. Tribulations serve the purpose of severing our attachment to this world where you realize we weren't meant to live here [eternally] and that is the greatest reminder of all. Seeing people die and other types of tribulation [remind us] that we were meant to be here only for a period of time and then we move on. Secondly, there are benefits that come through tribulation of things we need for the spiritual path, and if we were to see the benefits that come our way through those tribulations we would like for Allah to give us greater tribulations and that is hard to believe but it is true. In the end, what we need to do is to develop good habits, and be consistent with them [this is a spiritual struggle]. Expand them over a period of time and then inshAllah it will bear fruit. If there is ever a point where you are confused about something, try your best to develop an understanding not just remain confused. Never let your confusion prevent you from exerting yourself because that exertion is the secret of Divine guidance. وَا لَّذِيْنَ جَاهَدُوْا فِيْنَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا  ۗ وَاِ نَّ اللّٰهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِيْنَ "And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good." The Holy Quran 29:69 -Shaykh Yahya Rhodus
