"What's Left of Twin Arrows" Originally named Canyon Padre Trading Post when it was built in the late 1940’s off the historic Route 66. It was renamed Twin Arrows in 1957 to pay homage to next stop, 2 Guns. 1 of 2000 famous Valentine Diners is located here, it’s badly damaged, but came ready to use when delivered & was created by Arthur Valentine out of Wichita, Kansas. Twins Arrows was owned by the Troxell Family from 1955 to 1985. When the I-40 was built in the 1970’s the “Best Little Shop on I-40” saw a decline. Twin Arrows closed in 1990 & reopened in 1995 but closed forever shortly after. Now this once popular stop sits in utter decay, slowing returning back into the ground. . When your editing aesthetic and photography style changes over six years you post a before and after. Image 1: July 2021- ESP, PA taken at high noon after a full weekend of hanging with my bestie of twenty years. I felt super grateful here, firstly to have had that spectacular weekend with her as well as to again step foot on this beautiful property after a very tumultuous year. With the sun on my face, I photographed this image feeling completely and absolutely happy. Image 2: August 2015- ESP, PA taken on a horribly hot day with one of my original explore buddies. I was super happy to be experiencing this place for the first time with her, but I knew something wasn’t right with my body and I was super tired all day. I’d find out three months later I’d have ovarian cancer.
