"SiT 2 FaDE И DECaY" Originally named Canyon Padre Trading Post when it was built in the late 1940’s off the historic Route 66. It was renamed Twin Arrows in 1957 to pay homage to next stop, 2 Guns. 1 of 2000 famous Valentine Diners is located here, it’s badly damaged, but came ready to use when delivered & was created by Arthur Valentine out of Wichita, Kansas. Twins Arrows was owned by the Troxell Family from 1955 to 1985. When the I-40 was built in the 1970’s the “Best Little Shop on I-40” saw a decline. Twin Arrows closed in 1990 & reopened in 1995 but closed forever shortly after. Now this once popular stop sits in utter decay, slowing returning back into the ground. "Post Passion" At the time Michelangelo created his flawless and 2nd most famous sculpture "Pietà" he was only 24 years old. It took him less than 2 years from 1498-1499 to complete it. He was commissioned by French Cardinal Jean de Bilhères to create Pietà for his funeral monument. Michelangelo's Pietà had a few homes over the centuries & now resides behind bulletproof glass in St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, after 1972 when crazed geologist took a hammer to it knocking off Mary's nose, eyebrow, & her left arm. "Cornering the Past" I was here about 12 years ago & I've definitely noticed these walls are slowly returning back into the earth. I am sure I the next 100 years these walls will just be rock piles. This place is so amazing, such a rich history. #CanyonDiablo the roughest, toughest town in #NorthernArizona. So #dangerous the #Army was called in to #police the town. It's survived over 225 years since its inception in 1789. Not even Hurricane Katrina could wash away the mark this cemetery has made over the centuries. Each grave has withstood the odds, some made it through in better shape as others lay nameless, scattered, & lost in time. The unique gothic marble & iron decay speaks to those who listen as the cool salted New Orleans breeze buzz throughout St. Luis 1's narrow walkways. With wanderlust, I lost myself through these towering shrines that give praise to those who have passed so long ago. They all speak the same message... "I existed & I was loved".
