“There are horrors beyond life’s edge that we do not suspect, and once in a while man’s evil prying calls them just within our range.”
- H.P. Lovecraft
The agents were starting to get on your nerves.
There really wasn’t any good reason for it. They were being perfectly kind — when they bothered to talk to you like you were actually in the room, that is, though with three other victims of the deceased variety and a serial killer actively gunning for you, you figure you shouldn’t take that too personally — and the one named Jennifer had asked more times in the last hour than anyone else in your life had in maybe, well, ever if there was anything she could get you. You declined each time, sometimes rudely, sometimes in defeat, but that never stopped her coming back to ask again. When this was all over — and you prayed that an end would come quickly, if only so you could go back to not being quite so on edge — you’d need to be sure to thank her for all her efforts to make you comfortable.
But that wouldn’t come until later, when you were safe, and each of the agents in the behavioral analysis unit of the FBI didn’t pause every six seconds to analyze you in some attempt to figure out the psyche of the serial killer gunning to cut you open. In some ways, you understood — you were, currently, the only direct key they had to understanding how the serial killer who was after you selected his victims, though it wasn’t like you could answer any of the questions they had about the matter. Just because you understood, though, didn’t make the wandering eyes any less irritating, and you were counting yourself lucky that they were all just about to head home for the night so you wouldn’t have to worry about snapping in the next few hours.
“Okay,” Jennifer began as she approached, yet another kind smile occupying her features. “I’m stepping out for the night. The rest of the team will be leaving shortly, but our colleague Agent Anderson won’t be far. If there’s anything he can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask.”
You try for a small smile of thanks, but it’s hard to say whether it reaches your eyes. Judging by the poorly concealed concern in Jennifer’s gaze, you don’t think it does. “Thanks, but I’m all set. I already got this cozy cot set up in your boss’ office. What more could a girl ask for?”
Jennifer frowns, something like guilt tightening her perfect features. “I know the situation isn’t ideal, but this is—“
“The safest place for me to be, especially since this psycho likes to strike at night,” you sigh, unable to help a dejected roll of your eyes. “I know. I’m grateful, truly, but this still isn’t exactly what I would call great.”
“We’re gonna catch him,” Jennifer assures you. She sounds so resolutely positive that you’re inclined to believe her, even though there’s the issue that they still can’t even tell you who he is. “Just… try and get some rest tonight, okay? You’re safe here. I’ll have whoever from the team leaves last come check on you one last time before they head out. Good night.”
“Night,” you tell her, and she smiles one last time at you before heading out the office door, once again leaving you to your lonesome.
You should try to get your mind off it, you know. Thinking of something else was imperative to getting to sleep for the night, and though that was the last thing on your mind right now, trying to wind down was certainly more productive thank sinking into your own body numbing panic. Unfortunately, that was easier said than done, and now that you were by yourself, you had all the time in the world to think.
Someone wanted you dead. Someone out there in the world, someone you’d had contact with in your daily life, someone wanted to kill you. You hadn’t managed to get much information out of anybody — There’s no point in working yourself up over it, Jennifer had told you. You’d wanted to scream at her, tell her she’d be of a different opinion if she was the one whose life was hanging in the balance, but you’d managed to hold yourself back. Though you had every excuse in the book to lose your cool, she didn’t deserve you your verbal abuse. Even in your state of frightened paranoia, you could recognize that none of this was her fault.
Why this was happening to you, you didn’t know. You wished you did. If whatever was making you a target for the rampaging serial killer was something changeable, you’d take care of it in a heartbeat. If it was the way you dressed, you’d fix it. If it was your willingness to be kind to strangers, you’d be meaner. Anything, anything to get you out of this terrifying mess. Anything that meant you got to go home and sleep in your own bed and not have to worry about whether someone was going to break in to your apartment and—
“Are you doing okay?”
The gentle voice startled you out of your reverie, though you couldn’t help flinching out of reflex at the sudden intrusion despite how quietly it had been spoken. Blinking yourself back into focus, your eyes shot over to the door, where you found the tall, lanky frame of one of the BAU agents taking up space in the doorway. The one with softer features than the rest, though you didn’t know whether that spoke more to his youth or his naivety. The one with a certain boyish quality about him that you couldn’t quite place, though he carried his head high and had a surprisingly confident set to his jaw, one that contrasted directly with the sheepish, almost bashful tone of voice he’d had when speaking to you. The one whose name you couldn’t quite recall, which was a testament to the ordeal you’d been through in the past few hours because you’d never be careless enough to forget the name of such a beautiful man on any regular day.
The itch of tears trailing down your skin brought you back to your senses, and as you reached up to swat them away, you realized there was no way he hadn’t seen them. “Just peachy,” you snarked, instantly feeling badly over the tone you’d taken. Whatever; there was nothing to be done for it now, and you could agonize over your rudeness when a pretty stranger wasn’t busy witnessing your terror. “Really just having the time of my life. Can’t you tell?”
And you swear if you concentrate, really concentrate, you can just make out the ghost of an amused smile curling the corners of his lip upward in response to your bitter attempt at sarcastic humor, but it quickly becomes overshadowed with concern at spying the tears still brimming in your eyes. “Sorry to interrupt it,” he murmurs, stepping out of the entrance and closing the door behind him, and something about his tone is so meaningful that you believe he’s genuine. He detours by the desk at the far side of the room to pick up the box of tissues sitting on its corner before making his way over to you and setting them on the filing cabinet just beside your cot. “I’m Dr. Spencer Reid. Agent Jareau asked if I would check in on you before I went home for the night.”
You blink, reaching for a tissue and wiping the rest of your tears away, thankful that this man is kind enough not to force you to talk about your emotional state. At his introduction, though, you pause, the familiarity of the name taunting at something in your mind. “You… you’re the one who called me. Before.”
Spencer nods leaning his weight against the filing cabinet he’d set the tissues on and absentmindedly tucking a particularly unruly strand of hair behind his ear. “That was me,” he confirms, leveling another kind smile your way. “I, um, I was actually the one to get you out of your house, too, but… I mean, you were pretty upset, so you might not remember much of that.”
The unfortunate truth, actually, was that you remembered Spencer collecting you from your home and escorting you into the protective arms of the FBI a little too well. More specifically, you remembered having nothing short of a mental breakdown on the phone at the news that a serial killer was targeting you, looking to murder you in some horrible, awfully gruesome manner, and all for some reason that Dr. Reid had declined to inform you of over the phone. He’d been kind enough to talk you through all your debilitating paranoias, kind enough to stay on the phone with you until he’d gotten to your home with his partner — Morgan, if you remembered correctly — and rushed in to make sure you were in one piece. Though he’d told you on the phone that they were just outside, though he’d warned you that they’d be coming in to collect you and take you into protective custody, you’d still lost your mind at the sight of a stranger in your home and immediately rushed him, kicking and screaming and begging for your life, your safety, your… well. Everything, really.
Luckily for Spencer, you were a horrible right hook and ended up doing more damage to yourself than to him, but unluckily for you, you’d been out of your mind in that moment, and had lost the impulse for self preservation. Spencer had calmed you down and restrained you long enough to stop your attempts at gouging his eyes out in self defense, but every last bit of composure you’d been clinging to instantly vanished, and you’d been left a bawling mess, falling apart in the loose, awkward embrace of his arms as you begged him not to let anything happen to you, as you desperately implored him to keep you safe.
More than a little embarrassing once you’d managed to calm down, to say the least.
“Right,” you muttered, dropping your eyes to the floor. It was nothing against Spencer, with his kind eyes and reassuring expression, but you were just about at your wit’s end, here, and you really didn’t have enough composure left in you to be the sweet, dainty girl you assumed he’d enjoy interacting with. “Well, all things considered, I’m just fine. So, if that’s all…”
Instead of taking the hint, instead of leaving you to your solitude and allowing you to wallow in your misery, Spencer simply readjusted his position against the filing cabinet and folded his hands together. “I’m… Look, I don’t mean to pry, but you’re crying, and I… kind of get the feeling that when you say you’re fine, you’re not really telling me the truth.”
“An astute observation, Dr. Reid,” you muttered, wringing your hands together. “Really, someone ought to give you a medal.”
“Well, if you wouldn’t mind passing that along to my boss,” Spencer chuckles, and the gentle joke is so at odds with the defensiveness that anyone else would have responded with that it practically jolts you into civility. By the time you realize this, he’s already shifted from the filing cabinet to sitting at the edge of your cot. Not quite close enough to invoke feelings of familiarity, but just enough to let you know that if you want to, you can confide in him. And, it’s silly, but you kind of think you want to. “So… you don’t have to tell me why you’re crying—“
“Oh, thank you for the permission.”
“— but if you want to,” Spencer presses on, “I’m here to listen. No offense, but I imagine pretending nothing’s bothering you gets to be exhausting after a little while.”
“You’d be the expert,” you sigh, crossing your arms over your chest, but you turn more fully to face where Spencer’s seated himself.
He was being kind to you — that alone was reason enough to grasp at some manners and stop being so defensive, but there was another, more personally beneficial one as well. Jennifer had been awfully tight lipped about the man pursuing you — who he was, what he did to his victims, why he was so interested in you. But… Spencer wasn’t Jennifer. Spencer also felt kind of bad for you. Taking all that into consideration, maybe he would be more willing to give you the answers you were looking for.
More willing, and more interested.
“You know, I do have a few questions” you begin, hugging your legs to your chest and tucking your chin against your knee. You wondered if you looked as small and pathetic as you felt. “I don’t… know that you’d be willing to answer any of them, though.”
Spencer arches a brow at you, and you subconsciously take note of the way that his eyes narrow the slightest bit, though it’s hard to tell whether that’s fascination or a sweeter kind of curiosity. “Well, I can’t try to answer them until you try asking them.”
Alright, well. Worth a shot at least.
“I was wondering...” You trail off and set your jaw, clearing your throat before trying again. “I want to know about the man who’s trying to kill me.”

Hi! Can i please have an aot matchup? I’m a bi 19 year old girl. I’m 5’9 and i have curly brown hair and hazel eyes. I have a very soft, cozy style and i basically wear sweaters 24/7. I’m a scorpio and INTP. I’m antisocial due to anxiety, so i’m closed off to most people. I have a sarcastic and dirty sense of humor, and i’m childish. I like playfully teasing people. I’m a gryffindor, and quite stubborn. I’m easily jealous in a relationship. I’m also not very good at initiating affection. I’m really into fitness and health, and i exercise every day. Some of my other hobbies include baking, shopping, and singing. I love video games like animal crossing, but i’m also a huge horror fan. Thanks in advance!! 💕
I match you up with Jean !
Tumblr media
SFW :
-Now, Jean would probably have his eyes on you on the very first day. You just give off this strong and independent aura he loves oh so much. Yes, he’d be whipped and the desire to get to know you and talk to you would be strong. But at the same time he couldn’t help but find you oh so cute. He never knew someone could look both badass and soft at the same time and this just adds to your charm and enhances his curiosity towards you !
- He’d probably try to approach you during trainings, trying to show off for you and catch your attention, then coming to talk with you. But unfortunately his plan didn’t go as well as he would have liked when he got beaten to pulps by Reiner... But hey, you still looked his way ! He just has to swallow down his shame when he sees you walking over to him to ask if he’s okay... After you beat Annie. And the smile you offer him when giving him a hand to help him off the ground is just priceless. Honestly he has just been flabbergasted.
- After the initial blush and embarrassment of making a shame of himself in front of you Jean would get more comfortable and confident, trying to not so subtly flirt with you. And at first you’d only think he is being playful and teasing you ! Just like you can be... And you decide to tease along. The two of you would exchange pick up lines and silly banters, back and forth. None of you knowing the true intentions of the other at first. This would lead to a very interesting friendship and companionship. The two of you would grow to be known as the team. You just have so much fun together and even Titans couldn’t get in the way of that. Eventually romantic feelings would start to grow on your part and you’d quickly become bitter about all these banters, clueless as to how serious Jean is about you. But not to worry, it was no to little time before he actually approached you, more serious and nervous than you’ve ever seen him. And you two would then become an item. Not only friends but lovers and partners.
- Jean also loves your childish and sarcastic side, it just cracks him up every time and is such a breath of fresh air when all he has known is pressure and stress from expeditions. You are his safe haven and his shelter. Plus, if you eventually start being sarcastic with Eren... You have his heart, soul, feet and hands.
- But one thing Jean isn’t that comfortable with is how stubborn you can be, of course he loves that you cans tick up for yourself and your beliefs, and he is very stubborn himself. But he also knows that this trait of character can be dangerous and he is honestly scared this would get you killed on expeditions. Every time he sees you changing direction on the battlefield to kill a Titan his heart is both grabbed by admiration and dread. An epic cocktail. But so he just has to stick to you and watch your back. Just like you do for him. You’re partners and there is no way in hell he’d let you get killed. You’re all he has left after Marco and he’d be damned if he lost you too.
- Then, during your relationship Jean also gets to know the more vulnerable side of yours and this only strengthen his feelings towards you and his will to protect and care for you. Boy has never experienced anxiety but he sure knows what mental strife is and he is much decided to help you with your anxiety and any insecurities you may have. He’d be willing to listen any time, whenever you need a shoulder to lean on he’d be there. He won’t let you down. And just like he is your listening ear and his safe haven, you’d be his. Honestly the two of you would have such good communication and trust in one another. Just a really healthy relationship and partnership.
- Your jealous side doesn’t bother him that much. He actually finds it cute and would reassure you any time you may feel insecure about the two of you’s relationship or his love for you. He’d embrace you from behind and nuzzle your neck, placing an innocent kiss on the neck and remind you of how much he adores you. Not before teasing you a little for being jealous over him though.
- Jean loves your hobbies. Well he isn’t really one for shopping in my opinion but once you dragged him with you and he definitely liked it. He just loves seeing you so happy and so enthralled by all the things surrounding you. He’d probably play along and try on some things too, just to see you smile and hear your laugh. When it comes to backing, boy is a slave for your sweets. He’d really go through Hell and back for one of your cakes. Then he also loves to hear your voice when you talk, so when he discovered that you sung too ? He is at your feet and worshipping how beautiful you sound. He’d probably ask you to sing him to sleep too as he rests his head on your laps.
- Modern Jean is obviously big on video games, and although he has never played Animal Crossing he’d love for you to show him what it is about. He’d probably get into it too afterwards and you two would play alongside one another. Then about horror movies... Well he is not exactly a fan. He’d be this kind of guy to scream in the movie theatre when the ghost or bad guy barges into the scene. But once again, to see you smile, he’d do anything. But seeing him try so hard to hold in his shivers and screams is just such a sight to behold. And the iron grip he has on your shirt doesn’t betray anyone, guy is scared.
- Honestly Jean is just perfect boyfriend material. He’d just be so sweet and his love for you shines in every single glance he throws your way. He is just so proud of you and would brag to anyone willing to hear about his amazing and lovely girlfriend.
Song :
Cupid’s Chokehold, Gym Class Heroes
Scenario :
You frowned, hands balling into fists at the sight before you. Your heart ached, menacing to spill out of your chest.
It was no secret Jean admired Mikasa and that he had had a crush on her, before you came along. So you had good reasons to be pissed when you saw them training together, a smile adorning your boyfriend’s lips as he tried to fend off the black haired girl’s attacks.
Yes, it hurts. What’s more, for all you wanted to move and turn around, your feet stood glued to the ground, forcing you to stay and watch.
You gazed at the two of them. And for a moment you caught yourself thinking about how well they’d look together as a couple. If you hadn’t been in the picture, would Jean have ended up with Mikasa ? And if you were to die at the hands of a Titan, would he go back to her ? How long after you left this world ?
“(Y/n) !” A familiar voice you loved oh so much reached your ears.
You had zoned out and hadn’t even taken notice of Jean’s approaching form. He stood before you, sweaty and glorious, a charming and loving smile on his lips. His hazel eyes full of adoration as he looked at you. However this boyish grin of his quickly faded into a worried frown at the sight of your features.
The male leaned over you, looking for any clue as to why you’d be so upset, a gentle hand resting on your shoulder.
“Hey, are you okay ?”
You shook your head, unable to look at him right now without imagining him with your black haired friend. This was silly of you, you knew it. But didn’t mean you had any control over this ugly feeling in your chest.
Oh. Jean knew that face, for he had seen it before when he spent a bit too much time with someone else. The cute pout on your lips and the adorable frown on your features. You were jealous.
Soon a light smirk made its way to his lips and he slowly stepped behind you, leaving you no time to react as he wrapped his arms around your waist. His chest warm and arms comforting, eliciting a quiet sigh from you.
“Jean, you’re all sweaty.” You voiced, wiggling in his grasp. A rich chuckle graced your ear, his hot breath fanning over the skin of your jaw as he nuzzled the comforting nook between your shoulder and neck.
“Babe, are you jealous ?” He teasingly asked, eyeing you questioningly.
You sent him a glare. He loved how feisty you could get.
“No, I am not.” You denied boldly, knowing he could read you like an open book anyways.
He placed a kiss on your neck, tightening his hold on your body. “Do you need me to remind you of how much I love you ? Who I belong to ?” His voice whispered into your ear, sensually, and you blushed. Jean’s heart swelled in his chest at the sight of the visible hue.
“Don-Don’t be silly.”
Another warm chuckle rumbled through his chest and greeted your back. “I love you (Y/n). You and only you. Now and for however long we have to live on this earth.” He confessed sweetly, and you knew he was honest. “Don’t forget that you are trapped with me now and there is no way out of this.”
The tension left your shoulders and you leaned into his touch. “But you-”
“I admire her, yes. But I love you. And she is amazing but she can’t be you.” He continued to reassure you. Eager to tell you how much he loves you and how irreplaceable you are to him.
Finally a smile graced your lips, the sight alone casting a bright side on his day. Anything to see this smile he loved so much.
Match ups are closed for now !

Chapter 1 || Chapter 2 || Chapter 3 || Chapter 4 || Chapter 5 || Chapter 6 || Chapter 7 || Chapter 8 || Chapter 9 || Chapter 10 || Chapter 11 [Finale]
➜ Words: 2.6k
➜ Genres: Fluff & Cuteness, That good ol’ slow burn, Slice of Life
➜ Summary: Working at a grocery store deli is absolutely unbearable (and you’re also perfectly aware of how dramatic you are). But it seems like something, or rather, someone might make the job a bit more manageable.
➜ Warnings: Mundane-ness that might make you bored to death
➜ Notes: oh my god, for all of you who read the entire series, thank you very much! I hope you enjoyed reading about this couple. I most certainly enjoyed writing about them - for one, I never thought I’d end up writing a series about my summer part time job lol. It wasn’t that exciting. But I’m happy that something good came out of it and now I can look back with better memories. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
The deli is your second home.   And not because you like it here or that it’s cozy or provides you a sense of comforting warmth. No. It’s simply the place you’ve frequented the most in the past few months aside from your own bedroom. That makes it fairly tragic since you don’t like this place at all. It’s not that your job is particularly difficult — you’ve actually gotten used to it and now your body just goes on autopilot.   It’s the same thing day in and day out. Serving customers. Flipping salads. Making pizzas. Throwing chicken in the oven. Slicing hams, salamis, roast beef, sausage. Filling the meat case, the freezer, and stocking the shelves. You’ve become a master of the deli….which is probably the saddest title you’ve ever given yourself.   But while you hate your job, you’ve learnt to love something else here.   Or rather...someone.   “Park Jimin.” Your hands are on your hips and you’ve stopped in your tracks, bag swinging from your shoulder. “What do you think you’re doing?”   A boyish grin spreads across his face and he peels off his gloves, grabbing his own bag and joining your side as your foot taps impatiently. “I’m going on my break.”   “You weren’t slacking, were you?”   “No,” he quips, following you into the back.   “What would you do if I reported it to the manager?” You bump into him purposely with a smile and he giggles, synchronizing his steps with yours.   “I’d tell you to provide evidence.”   “I have evidence.” You feel like an idiot smiling this wide for no reason at all. But Jimin just makes you feel that way — a giddy dumbass who always feels too happy and fuzzy. “You’re always staring at me from across the floor. You thought I wouldn’t notice?”   “I’m not staring,” he argues, “You’re the one who’s staring!”   You scoff. “I am not.”   “Then how would you know I’m staring if you’re not looking either?”   “I feel it.”   “You feel it? That means you’re not paying attention to your work.” The boy shakes his head in feigned disapproval. “What a slacker.”   You gasp, pushing the door to enter the staff room. “I will not be accused like this.” But at once your voice quiets down when you see a familiar old lady sitting at the table. She’s back at it again, going through her pile of newspapers, and the two of you were noisy enough that she looks up with a smile.   “Afternoon.”   “Good afternoon,” Jimin replies politely and you repeat him. As you’re busy microwaving the chicken pot pie, he pulls out a chair and one beside him for you.   “You two seem close,” the lady notes out of friendliness and slight nosiness.   “Eh, not really,” you say, joking around. You exchange a look with the produce boy and the mischief twinkles in his brown irises.   “She’s alright, I guess,” Jimin adds on.   “Well, it’s always nice to have a work friend.” The lady doesn’t catch on that you’re just kidding and she quickly returns back to her flyers, re-adjusting her round spectacles on the tip of her nose. In the meanwhile, Jimin has taken out his sandwich that’s split into half and you grab two spoons for the chicken pot pie, pulling it out of the microwave once it’s done and sitting down.   “Look at these Walmart rollbacks,” the old woman sighs. “They can only afford these prices because they pay their workers so low.”   She flips furiously through the papers, licking her thumb and filing through. You hum in acknowledgment while Jimin takes a spoonful of the pie, eating it. To appease the lady, he comments, “we’re unionized.”   “Exactly.” She inhales a sharp breath through her teeth. “People shop there because it’s cheaper, but I’d rather spend a little bit more to support a better company and know where my products are coming from.”   “Yeah…” If it wasn’t obvious enough by the way your shoulders slump, you’re dejected. You really didn’t want to spend your break with Jimin talking about groceries or other stores. To be frank, you didn’t walk to talk about that even with anyone at any time. But there was no way out of this conversation now, especially since it’s practically one-sided and the woman was talking to herself. There’s no escape when there wasn’t one to begin with.   But your thoughts are interrupted when you feel a warm touch skimming on your arm by your side. Your body jolts and when you turn your head, Jimin’s looking straight ahead, chewing food innocently in his cheek. He talks to the lady, but underneath the table and out of her eyesight, his fingers find your palm.   He laces his fingers through yours, holding your hand, folding them nicely together.   “They mass produce, but no one really cares for you there when you shop.”   “It’s hard to ask help there,” the boy says, grinning with his rosy cheeks puffed out in satisfaction, as if he just won a game or the lottery.   He’s such an idiot. A sappy idiot. But you’re a bigger idiot for being so endeared.   You squeeze his hand, cheeks burning, and the tips of his ears turn red. It makes eating more difficult when your dominant hand is preoccupied, but you manage.   “It’s exactly that! Our store values customer service and all the money gets returned to the workers, not some rich CEO guy hoarding it all.” The woman exhales exhaustingly, passionate in her rant. “It gets harder and harder to compete every year and it’s unbelievable that places like Walmart and Costco are the ones succeeding.”   “What do you think?” Jimin suddenly twists towards you, all too mischievous and playful, causing your trance to shatter and for your mind to reel.   “I…………………...uh-…....agree.”   The old woman finishes rifling through the advertisement newspaper and sets it aside. She takes off her glasses, folding and sliding them into her red apron pocket. “Well, there’s nothing we can really do. My break is over, so you two youngins enjoy yourselves now.”   “Okay, bye!” You’re too happy that she’s finally leaving and fortunately enough, she doesn’t pick up on it. The old lady just washes her hand in the sink, pulling paper towels to clean them off and she wobbles out of the staff room, down the stairs. Once there’s peace and quiet, you swivel yourself around with an incredulous expression. “Really? ‘What do I think’?”   A squeaky laugh filters out of his mouth and he shrugs. “It’s an innocent question. And you looked...distracted.”   “Because of this.” You drag his arm up, revealing your held hands to the light, fingers still intertwined together. “Can you let me eat? I only have twenty minutes left!”   Jimin pouts. “But I can feed you.” To prove his point, he scoops up some pie with his spoon and you’re reluctant to give in. But when he bumps your mouth with the food, you exhale, looking away and allowing your lips to part. The boy eagerly feeds you. “See?”   “You’re unbelievable.”   “My turn!” He opens his mouth big and wide and you bring up your part of the sandwich. He happily chomps down and chews while gloating like you feeding him makes the food taste a lot better. He mumbles, “you’re dating me, so you’re the one with questionable tastes here.”   “Just be lucky you’re cute, produce boy.”   He smiles and then his brows move up as if he just remembered something. Jimin turns to search through his bag and he plops a baggie of strawberries down. “You like these, right?”   “Did you take them?” you whisper lowly, even when no one else is around. The boy merely shrugs and you shoot a suspicious look at him before opening it and popping one into your mouth. “Don’t blame me if you’re fired.”   “I won’t, don’t worry. It’s not like I’ll be here for long either way.” Jimin finally lets go of your hand, the both of you eating properly before time runs out. “Did you hand in your two weeks notice yet?”   “I’m doing it tomorrow.” You finish the sandwich, dusting your hands off. The resignation letter is printed and in an envelope, sitting in your bag and ready to be delivered to your manager tomorrow — and the mere thought of it makes you excited. “Are you going to quit too? You shouldn’t just because I am.”   “But what am I supposed to do here when you’re gone?”   “Your job.”   You laugh, drinking water from your bottle and Jimin finishes up too. He stands, putting the trash in the bin and sitting back down again. His irises glisten and he smiles. “What happens if I fall in love with the next deli girl they hire?”   A snort rushes out of your nose. “At the rate they’re going at, they’ll probably hire someone a lot older, like a mom with three kids.”   “Moms can be hot.”   “Are you telling me about a kink you have?”   Jimin smiles. “My parents wanted me to quit a few months back to focus on school. I’ve been staying around here for a certain someone—”   “I’m honoured.”   “—and I’ve saved up enough money to spend for the next year and a half anyways. Plus….I want to have time to go on dates with you.”   “Do you expect me to actually go out on dates with you, Park?” You quirk your head to the side, throwing a strawberry into your cheek. “I think you underestimate how much I like staying at home in my pajamas.”   He grins. “Then I’ll come over.”   “And have my dad chase you out with his lawnmower?”   “His lawnmower?” His brows furrow, slightly scared before he breaks out into a fit of giggles, making you smile. You can envision Jimin being chased down, ready to be mowed over, and it’s equally funny as it is horrifying. “Your parents would love me.”   Somehow, you don’t doubt that at all. Park Jimin is one charming man.   Your hands dig into the baggie and you look up at him. “Want a strawberry? It’s the last one.”   “No, it’s okay.” Jimin shakes his head. His elbow is propped on the table, chin in his hand and he gazes at the way you pop the red fruit in your mouth. The corners of his mouth curls. “Actually, I changed my mind.”   “Rewrlly?” Your eyes widen, staring into his, words muffled, surprised.   And he leans in.   Park Jimin holds your face in his palms. He kisses you and inhales. His head tilts slightly. Your lips are still parted and he welcomes himself inside, tongue slipping in, slyly stealing the strawberry straight from your mouth. And he pulls away before you can react, chewing the fruit.   You’re shocked, unable to believe he actually did that, but Jimin is unfazed. Nonchalant. He’s averted his eyes elsewhere and humming at the taste. “It’s sweet.”   “Oh my god.”   The little shit smiles like he is unaware of what he just did and doesn’t know why you’re surprised. “What’s wrong?”   “You’re what’s wrong with me.” Your face feels like a furnace, skin on fire, and between the pair of you, you’re the only one who’s embarrassed. You’ve been betrayed. You’ve been wrongfully advertised. He is nothing like the shy and timid produce boy you thought you knew.   Park Jimin is so entirely bold sometimes that it gives you whiplash. Your second kiss ever with him and he’s already doing this. Your heart’s not gonna last.   He grins, a shit-eating smile plastered across his face. “Sorry, couldn’t resist.”   You’re going to combust. The doctors are going to have no idea how it happened. No one is going to show up at the funeral. But goddammit, you are not going to go down losing to him.   “You have something on your face.”   “What?” Jimin is alarmed by your sudden comment and his hand raises.   Within a blink of an eye, your hand has grabbed a fistful of his red apron and you pull him in as if you’re about to beat him up. But instead of pummeling his beautiful face with your fist, you smack your mouth on his, all too amateur, but still shoving down your shame to kiss him quickly.   “Me.”   Oh my god. The cheesy line makes you want to internally die. It’s so greasy that you feel squeamish, but Jimin likes it all too much. He’s a sucker for things like this and when you pull away, he leans in to kiss you for a third time.   This time, his smile presses on yours. It isn’t a hasty peck made from embarrassment or any sly moves to steal strawberries off your tongue. It’s slower, much more normal, and one to be savoured. Jimin tilts his head ever so slightly, holding your face gently in his hands, half-lidded eyes drinking in your expression and the way your lashes lay as you shut your eyes.   His touch on you is gentle and still a bit hesitant, and your hands eventually find purchase on his arms, like you’re telling him to stay still and not move away. His lips are plush and you muse how soft and warm it feels. It’s also becoming less and less awkward the more times that you kiss each other and as you melt into his embrace, you realize he smells like apples and oranges. Thankfully, rather than sliced ham, you smell like salads and lemon dish soap.   “Ahem!”   Someone clears their throat noisily as if they were choking on a chicken bone. They’re exiting from the bathroom, glaring at you both with daggers in their eyeballs. They beeline out the staff room, but it’s enough for you to be mortified and pull away.   Jimin is still staring at you and a smile tugs on his swollen lips. His eyes crinkle and a cute giggle spills from his chest. You sulk childishly at him. “We’re going to get called in by the union because of PDA complaints.”   He shrugs. “We’re both quitting anyways, might as well go out with a bang.”   Another fit of laughter bubbles out of you.   It’s hard to believe that the guy who annoyed you, making you slice up pepperoni twenty minutes before closing would end up being such a soft produce boy. You would’ve never known that the person who greeted you meekly on your first day here would end up being so important to you.   As sour as you feel about this place, at least you’re leaving with good memories, some pocket money, and the sweetest boyfriend in existence.   “So, I’ll see you on Wednesday for the closing shift?” Jimin joins your side after clocking out for the day.   “You’re going to see me on Monday during class, Jimin. And we have that date afterwards.”   “Right, right.” His arm is thrown over your shoulder, synchronizing his steps into yours, matching your pace as you walk home together.   The manager on duty smiles, watching you both in your own little world — leaving while laughing and bumping into each other, bickering before giving in to one another. As your backsides fade off into the distance, the manager turns around, closes the door and locks it for the night.   While you and Jimin won’t be working here anymore, you’re excited to have a life outside of the store. After all, you’re both no longer just silently staring at each other across the grocery floor.

Nalu Week- Bonus Prompt- Drive
Lucy parked her car in her garage in a rush as she could see the erupting smoke from her house when she was nearing it, most probably from the kitchen and the reason is only one- "NATSU".
Lucy and Natsu started dating a year ago. It was kind of spontaneous event, like Lucy started working in a company named fairytail, the name came from some fantasy of the owner and her friends, was what she was told when asked about the name of the company by her co-worker which was- yes. Natsu.
It was her first day of appointment and she was nervous, obviously everyone is on the first day she was waiting at the lift not knowing exactly where to go like, she asked the receptionist and she said something but now she failed to remember which floor she said 'was 4th or 5th ' she was working this out in her mind when she met Natsu for the first time.
"New Here?" Someone said beside her.
Surprised she turned towards the voice, and noticed a boy around her age with pink hairs? very handsome face and body, she noted in her mind then met those smoldering black eyes which awaited an answer with a smirk? Shit! She was checking out the boy before her with him noticing it too.
She was red with embarrassment and blinked blankly at him with a simple "Eh"
"I take that as a yes" he said and laughed, and Lucy lo-liked his deep voice and laughter.
"Which department?" He asked this time she answered.
"Editing department"
"Oh Wow! I m in the same department." He exclaimed and Lucy was kind off happy to hear that cuz that meant she would see him often. What she didn't expect was him to be working right next her desk. When they got in the lift they had their formal intros done and some casual talks was going on when the reached their department on the 4th floor.
By the end of her first day she and Natsu were friends then he asked her for a cup of coffee in the nearby café and after that they were best friends. That was when she realised they had most of things in common even their apartments' was in the same lane just a few blocks away, but after coffee she took her car but Natsu started barefoot she was surprised that he was walking cuz their apartment was close but not close enough that you could walk, that too everyday. She offered him a lift but he cringed and declined she was upset thinking maybe she offended the boy somehow and regretted it, but seeing her sad face he clarified that its not her fault and he had severe motion sickness.
It took her a while to fully analyse what he said, she was very disappointed cuz of two things firstly he didn't look the type to have motion sickness and she loved long drives. Eh! how was it even connected with him having motion sickness.
She looked at his expression half expecting half afraid of her reaction, and all she managed a small
'Uh! Ok.'
And she left and during her short journey she was thinking what exactly was he thinking and the way she reacted was that rude? Would it be awkward between them? But why was these thoughts making her this restless she met the boy today only.
But next day it appeared all normal Natsu talking casually to her and she did the same. Occasionally he came to her house for weekends and came to know that she write stories and maintain a daily diary too. Later his visits became more regular and he started teasing her a lot.
They were best friend, very close best friend to be honest, suddenly out of blues he proposed her, well not so sudden but after another boy named Sting joined their company and she had to do a project together with him and the next time Natsu came to her home unexpectantly, Sting was therer sitting with her.
They were in a cozy relationship, a bit of talking, bit of teasing, and lots of love.
During their relationship she came to understand the level of seriousness of Natsu's motion sickness he was complete green, the patches for this didn't work anymore on him his body became resistant to it so he stopped purchasing them.
Lucy always wished to go on a romantic long drive with her boyfriend but that wish was lost after she got Natsu still she enjoyed all the time she spent with him.
Those long walks to the office, dinner at a fancy restaurant or playing board games in her house she loved them all. Natsu was practically living with her and sometimes even cook food though most of the time he burns them, like was happening right now.
Lucy rushed to the kitchen to find flour on the floor, splattered water, burnt food and of course a laughing Natsu.
"Welcome Home, Luce" That boyish grin he gave her saved him from any probable outburst from her. She sighed and smiled back, silently signalling him to leave before he gets a Lucy kick.
After getting freshened up she cleaned the kitchen and prepared some snacks for them. Today was their one year anniversary but nothing was special except Natsu was home earlier than her as he was kind off busy the whole week, tried to cook something special for her …..and… burnt it.
"Luce get ready we are going out"
She was kind of surprised by this sudden plan.
"But I made the snacks." She said dumbly.
"well then just pack them we can eat it later In the t…"
"What?"
"Nothing you just go and get ready I will pack the snacks."
Since Natsu didn't even gave her a hint to where they where going she let that gut feeling decide her attire for the evening, she picked something casual just like Natsu a plain pink sleeveless top with white leggings and a light makeup.
When she came in the living room all set to leave but, Natsu was nowhere to be seen.
"Natsu?" she whispered, just then she felt him behind her before she could turn around she was blindfolded, with him saying 'it's a surprise'.
She let him take the lead and relaxed in his hold on her hand. They walked a while, it seemed around the time and distance it would take to reach Fairytail.
But what where they doing near their workplace? Was he taking her to the restaurants there? But they were all fancy and Natsu didn't like to go there unless it's for business. Then pizzaries? But why would he blindfold her for she knew those place too, also this time the path they were taking was bit longer and with a lot of turns. Where was he actually taking her?
Lucy and her thoughts came to an abrupt stop when Natsu stopped and opened some gate and led her in closing it behind them and opened her blindfold.
Her eyes slowly adjusted to the surrounding to see….. Nothing. It was pitch dark. She called-shouted for Natsu.
"I m here." A spotlight was switched on and it was on a Mercedes Benz S-class Cabriolet with its roof folded.
Lucy was speechless.
"Come on Luce" Natsu led her to the car and opened the door for her, she sat down and put her seat belt on as of habit.
It was when Natsu sat next to her switched on the ignition that she came to he senses.
"OMG Natsu what is this? You are driving? You taking me on a drive? Her happiness was very well reflected in her eyes and excitement was very evident.
"Actually a long drive, well kind off…" he trailed of.
Realisation hit her like a brick.
"Oh shit your motion sickness." Instantly his face paled "L-Luce.." he said weakly as a warning and in a fraction of seconds just like it drained colour, his face was normal again and he gave her the brightest smile and said-
"You just wait and watch"
Suddenly the room was filled with lights no not lights but with brightness something like sunrise. In front of them was a screen showing a window through which a hill was seen far away, also in either side there was two more screen showing a house set up exactly like HER!
"Luce, you know, the scenery there" he pointed to the hill in front of them "is awesome lets go have a view."
Then he started driving the car. Fake, though the screen showed them moving through the streets she could feel the cool air on her face and Natsu played the radio. She hummed along with the music playing on the radio watching the scene on her side all the apartments of her lane were there, they crossed Natsu's apartment not too long ago.
"Lets go faster." Natsu announced to her and increased the speed and there was a gust of air on her face. Things on the screen started moving faster too she felt like she was going on an actual long drive, and she was enjoying it a lot.
Lucy increased the volume on the radio stood up in her seat let her hair loose and started singing and dancing with Natsu singing the lyrics with her and concentrating partly on the road and partly on her laughing and smiling along with her.
As they neared the outskirts of their town which was kind off roadside shopping area she saw a purse and cried out.
"Natsu I want that purse. Please Nat-.." she slapped her hand over her mouth over her stupidity but Natsu grinned slyly and stopped the car looked back and started driving to her utter amazement on the screens too they were going backwards and stopped right in front of that shop. Natsu got out and opened the car door for her, Lucy was just stupidly watching him as he told her to pick the purse she liked, she blankly pointed at the one she liked on the screen.
His grin only widened.
"Great choice Luce, We would take this one he pointed to the same purse and took out his wallet to pay for it. He paid by his right hand and extended his left to her which had a bag.
Lucy looked dumbly at him then his extended hand, was he carrying this when he got off and opened the door for her? She was confused but finally accepted it and to her utter amazement indeed it had the purse she had asked for and when she looked at the store it was not there.
She was at complete loss of words and thoughts the only thing in her mind was 'HOW THE FUCK DID HE DO THAT?'
"Hey your intense look is scaring me." Natsu said with a sweat drop.
"Let's go eat something." He said and took her to MacDonald's on the same path, naturally the same was displayed on the screen.
They entered and he pointed to the empty seats near the counter "Let's go sit there."
Once they were there he left her for a second and came up with a table next with two chairs, pulled her chair out for her and went to place order.
She watched on the screen and was in another surprise when Natsu was on the screen waiting in the line when His chance came she heard him say "Two chicken burgers." And when he got the order he walked towards her on the screen then suddenly not there anymore but in front of her with the burgers smiling widely, very amused by her expression.
They talked about random stuffs from work to home to friends, after finishing they left, but she couldn't help but noticed that like when they were about to leave, not really though, Natsu had made her stop abruptly on whatever she was saying and said they should leave and the same time it showed on the screen as if they were leaving and going back to the car and the journey started again this time they were nearing the route for the hill.
Soon both the screens were filled with the scenery of the forests and wild. Lucy was loving it but what she loved the most was when Natsu used some spray for the Nature's musty odour.
In the front screen she could see the slope ahead and the cures and on the sides it was the scenery she was so involved by now that during the curves she was working on her instincts bending towards Natsu during each curve, coming forward for when he was supposed to apply breaks, during straight paths where he was driving at immense speed, going into her seat plus the air works was awesome.
Soon they reached their destination the top of the hills Lucy got off on her own going forward to have a view and sure enough after a couple of seconds it showed the view there.
"So Beautiful.." She said with gleaming eyes.
"Yeah" He replied scratching his cheek looking at her.
She was so overwhelmed by this that she threw herself towards him and connected their lips together, Natsu caught her and kissed her with equal passion. Soon they parted breathing heavily.
"Happy Anniversary Luce."
"Happy Anniversary Natsu."
And they Kissed again with much more intensity and passion.
Natsu spread a mat and they had their mini picnic there with the snack she had prepared and..
"Mira Prepared this?" She asked with the suspicious cupcake she never prepared.
Natsu eyes widened as if deer caught in headlights.
"Ah! Yes" he said adverting his eyes.
Lucy rolled her eyes and asked the question she was most curious about right now.
"How did you do this." She pointed to the car and the screens.
"This? Well we have friends." That was his only reply as if it explained everything. She raised her eyebrows in question, asking for further explanation.
"Well this car belongs to Gray and Juvia and we are right now at my garage." When her eyes widened he quickly cut her off with his explaining. "I took you in rounds so you won't realise we were here and the editing stuff was of course done by the editing expert that is me." Lucy rolled her eye at his cocky attitude but that was true.
"Filming credits to Levy and Gajeel the shop thing it was my hunch that what you would choose and where so many filming and editing, this thing took me nearly 3 months now preparing for this big day." Before she could say anything, he shushed her down and said.
"I wanted to complete your long -term dream on this very day of our one-year anniversary to go on a romantic long drive with your boyfriend. Oh yes I found this in your diary. Sorry I read it a bit " he gave a very less apologetic smile.
Lucy was least concerned about him reading her diary, she was so so so happy that she cannot explain it in words. Silent tears of happiness flowed down her cheeks. Natsu was surprised and upset that he made her cry.
"Oye Luce.. hey I m sorry for re-" he started saying but was cut off by her arms wrapping him in a bear tight hug.
"I Love You Natsu a lot, I Love you." She repeated it again and again as if it was not enough.
"I love you a lot too." He said hugging her back and kissed her head.
"I am sorry I didn't give you anything today." Lucy said avoiding eye contact with him.
"Stupid you are with me that's all I need." He said as if it was an obvious statement.
They stayed there watching the scenery till sunset by Natsu's sun setting and till Midnight in actual time and then went back in another long drive, the drive she always longed for.
A/N- Well i enjoyed writing this. Natsu is so sweet. well i tried to explain in what all he did but if any further confusion then its just that he had put Gray's car in his garage and Levy and Gajeel were the one shooting every scene as Natsu had told them from her room to the streets and the hills also the shop and restaurant and if Lucy had not voiced it out then he would have suggested it and managed it somehow cuz everything was pre-planned. This is for the bonus prompt of Nalu week. Drive.

Belle Époque
4th March 2018
10.30 a.m.
Eun opened her eyes as the alarm on her phone rang. She reached out to her phone under the bed and turned the alarm off as the familiar alarm sound that she hears every day really annoyed her.
She stretched her body as she had a really good night’s sleep from the night before. She stared at the ceiling and thought, ‘it’s today…’
That day, Eun was going to meet Sooji, her ex-bestfriend who’s no longer attached with her. Eun did feel very sad that she had to lose her precious friend whom she grew close with.
It’s only after almost a year that Sooji agreed to meet her again, and from the tone of Sooji’s messages, Eun couldn’t feel the ‘hate’ or the I-don’t-want-to-talk-to-you vibe, which really surprised her.
After thinking about it for a while, Eun got up from her bed and took some clothes from her wardrobe and headed to the bathroom for a shower.
11.00 a.m.
Eun got out from the bathroom all ready and found Yeeun who was sitting at the dining table. She greeted her,
Eun: Yeeun-sunbae good morning!
Yeeun looked down that morning, as her eyes were fixated at the table in front of her.
Yeeun didn’t realize Eun had just greeted her, so Eun sat down on the bench to wave her hand at her. Yeeun woke up from her zoning out moment.
Yeeun: Eo, Eun-ah... hm???
Eun: I said good morning, Yeeun-sunbae… Did something happen?
Yeeun: Ah… mian… Nothing so big, it’s just that I have a lot of things on my mind now.
Eun: What kind of things?
Yeeun hesitated to share her story to Eun, but she decided that it wouldn’t harm her in any way if she tells her, so she went on to share,
Yeeun: Hochang met my parents yesterday.
Eun waited from Yeeun to continue her story
Yeeun: My parents haven’t said anything about it. I’m sensing that something bad is gonna come from them. That I have to separate from Hochang. What should I do? Eo? Do you have any idea?
Eun who just found out about Yeeun’s situation, tried to digest all the information that she just heard. Honestly, Eun isn’t someone who’s an expert in solving matters between boyfriends and parents, because her own parents haven’t even met Janghoon who’s in the army. Well, they may not even know that she already has a boyfriend. But Eun tried as hard as she could to provide Yeeun with a comforting word,
Eun: Yeeun-sunbae… I think you have to think about both your parents and yourself too, I don’t know much about the criteria of a boyfriend your parents like, but in the end I believe every parent wants the best for their child, right? You’re the only child, just like me.
You must have felt the same thing as I do, like how my mother always asked me to cut my hair short, that’s why before I met you, Eunjae, Jiwon-sunbae, Yoon-sunbae, Janghoon, and even Kang-eonni, I had that boyish look in me and no hint of any femininity.
To be honest, I do love girly stuff, but I realized at a point in time that I had to make myself brave enough to fight for what I like, and you see, in the end my hair is no longer short, and my mom doesn’t really force me to cut it anymore, because I told her what I want and why having long hair isn’t gonna be a problem.
When Yeeun heard Eun’s words of consolation in the form of her own analogy, Yeeun’s mind suddenly cleared a little. Yeeun smiled and replied to Eun,
Yeeun: Eun-ah, gomawo.
Eun: Aniyo Yeeun-sunbae, it’s really nothing. I was only telling you about my own story and experience. I hope everything goes well for you, Hochang-sunbae and your parents.
Yeeun’s lips stretched even more,
Yeeun: Eo, arasseo
Yeeun then noticed that Eun was dressed very nicely that morning, so she asked,
Yeeun: Are you going somewhere?
Eun looked at her clothes and said hesitantly,
Eun: Eo… I’m meeting Sooji today for lunch,
Yeeun who heard the shocking news, replied,
Yeeun: Sooji?! I thought you guys aren’t in good terms? What happened?
Eun took a deep breath and released it before answering Yeeun’s question,
Eun: Eo… It just turned out that way. I texted her yesterday if we could meet up, you know I just wanted to catch up with her, and she sent me a reply saying that she wanted to meet me today for lunch.
Yeeun who understood the situation, nodded.
Eun: Alright, then, I think I have to head out to the lunch place.
Yeeun: Eo! See you! Good luck!
Eun waved at Yeeun as she walked towards the main door to put on her black ankle boots and exited the main door.
Before walking outside Belle Époque, Eun took out her phone to text Sooji
Tumblr media
She kept her phone back in her purse and walked away with a subtle smile on her face.
Eun alighted from the bus and walked towards the restaurant that she and Sooji used to visit a lot when they were still close friends. She opened the glass window and the bell rang as she entered the restaurant.
She could still fell the familiarity and the cozy vibe of the place. She headed towards the seat where she and Sooji always sat at.
When she was seated, the ahjumeoni who’s also the owner of the restaurant approached her table with a menu on her hand. She recognized Eun by the face and said,
Ahjumeoni: Haksaeng, your hair has gotten long! It’s been such a long time since you came… But by the way, where is the cute girl with the pale skin and wavy hair who was always with you?
Eun put on an awkward smile as the ahjumeoni recognized her, but she felt even more awkward when Sooji’s visuals were brought up, so she replied,
Eun: Yes… It’s been a long time… I actually came here to meet her.
Ahjumeoni: Oh, really? That’s great. Then, please have a look at the menu and call me if you’ve decided on what to order. Do you want any drinks?
Eun: Uhm… I think I’ll just have a jug of water first and order later when my friend comes. Thank you.
Ahjumeoni: Okay… Please wait
Eun got back to her own world as the ahjumeoni left for the kitchen to prepare the jug of water that she requested. It was Sunday afternoon, so the restaurant isn’t as busy as weekdays, since the location is very near the offices in Seoul, where many workers head over to grab a quick lunch at the place. In the restaurant, there were only a couple who were sitting at the edge of the restaurant hall and a middle-aged uncle who’s having his own meal at one table.
12.35 p.m.
It’s been 35 minutes since the appointment time has passed, but Sooji has yet to arrive at the restaurant. Eun kept checking at her phone to look at the time almost every 30 seconds and at the same time check if there’s a message coming in from Sooji. To no avail, there wasn’t any message coming in. If there was, it’s just a spam message from the local operator.
Eun released a huge sigh and decided to check her chat with Sooji. She found that her message that she sent earlier prior to going to the restaurant hadn’t been read by Sooji.
The ahjumeoni who noticed that Sooji hasn’t come after more than 40 minutes of waiting, approached Eun and asked her,
Ahjumeoni: Haksaeng, do you want to order some food? It’s already 12.40 p.m. now, I think you should be hungry. Why not wait for your friend to come while eating something?
Eun who heard ahjumeoni’s offer, thought for a few moments and responded,
Eun: hm… arasseo-yo… I’ll just have a portion of tofu-soup with rice please
Ahjumeoni: Alright. Got it!
Eun smiled at the ahjumeoni who seemed to care much about her. She once again let go of a sigh and stared at the window to see people passing by the street. Every second that she spent looking out of the window, she put a hint of hope that Sooji would come.
Flashback - Seoul Café
3rd March 2018
12.00 p.m.
Sooji: Ya, I’ll go to the restroom first, take care of my belongings, ok?
Kim Sora: Arasseo.
Sooji was out in a café with Sora, her ‘new’ bestfriend, or a replacement of Eun? Anyway, Sora kind of knew the situation between Sooji and Eun that wasn’t good for 10 months already. Everyone knew Sooji and Eun were bestfriends, and she also thought it’s really such a waste that a friendship as close as theirs could be cut so suddenly and badly.
Just then, she saw a notification on Sooji’s phone. It was from Eun, asking Sooji to come meet her on that day. Just then, Sooji came back to the table and looked at the notification on her phone. She locked her phone back and put it on the table.
Sora: Why?
Sooji: Why what?
Sora: Is it not an important notification?
Sooji: Ani, it’s just a spam. Don’t worry about it.
Sora knew Sooji was lying, but she just kept quiet and continued where they left off.
3.00 p.m.
Sora and Sooji were walking back when Sora couldn’t hold to keep what had been on her mind since she saw Eun’s notification on Sooji’s phone.
Sora: Sooji-ya.
Sooji: Hm?
Sora: I saw it.
Sooji who didn’t know what Sora was talking about, put on her more than confused face.
Sora: The message. It wasn’t a spam, right? It’s from Eun. But why didn’t you answer her?
Sooji was taken aback when she heard what Sora just confessed about. She was a little angry.
Sooji: Mwoya… You saw my phone?! Why do you care so much about it?!
Sora: Sooji-ya… I’m sorry, but I don’t think that’s the way you should act towards Eun. I don’t exactly know what happened between you two, but it seems like you’ve never properly settled your problem with her. You don’t even wanna tell me what exactly happened.
You know, as a friend who cares about you I do want to know what happened. I want my bestfriend to resolve all her problems well and be relieved.
‘Sora isn’t wrong about this,’ Sooji thought. But what’s annoying is the fact that Sooji knew her ego wouldn’t allow her to make up with Eun anymore. She’s hurt at the fact that Eun thought about her that way. That she isn’t straight. And the fact that Eun felt uncomfortable about it.
Sooji: What should I do, then?! I don’t know if it’s already too late to talk to her anyway.
Sora: It doesn’t matter. You see, Eun is definitely trying to make up with you, and you should at least appreciate that.
Sooji kept quiet as Sora advised her. She then took her phone out of her purse and opened the chat with Eun and typed her message.
4th March  2018
12.30 p.m.
Sooji woke up from her long long sleep. When she realized that the sun was shining so brightly already, she quickly grabbed her phone on the side table and jumped as she looked at the time. 12.30 p.m. She’s late for her appointment with Eun. Sooji ruffled her hair in frustration and quickly headed to the bathroom for a quick shower before heading out to the restaurant.
12.45 p.m.
After getting ready for the meet up, she waved down for a taxi in front of her apartment and hopped on to one. She ordered the taxi driver to go to the restaurant and urged him to try his best to reach the destination as fast as possible.
She hadn’t been able to check her phone from 15 minutes ago as she was too occupied with getting ready as fast as she could. When she saw the notification that Eun was already on the way an hour ago, she felt even sorrier that she ever did.
Thankfully, the driver knew how to reach the place through shortcuts, so she could reach the place within 10 minutes time. Sooji paid the taxi fare and got out, only to see Eun who was eating alone by herself at the table that used to be their usual spot. Sooji sighed and murmured to herself,
Sooji: She hasn’t changed.
Yes, Eun hasn’t changed. Whenever she felt lonely and disappointed, she never expressed it. The fact that she’s been waiting at the restaurant for nearly an hour for Sooji and not notifying her is just how Eun was like 10 months ago.
Sooji made her way to the restaurant and went through the glass window. She could see Eun who wasn’t paying attention to the door as she stared blankly at the tofu soup that’s getting cold already.
Sooji: Eun-ah.
Eun who saw Sooji standing in front of her, quickly stood up and replied,
Eun: Eo, Sooji-ya.
Sooji: Mian, I woke up late today and rushed here.
Eun thought to herself, ‘what a relief. I thought she changed her mind.’
Eun and Sooji then took a sit and didn’t talk to each other for quite a while due to the awkwardness. Sooji hated awkward moments, so she opened the conversation,
Sooji: I see you colored your nails now.
When Sooji pointed that out, Eun quickly looked at her nails and said,
Eun: Ah… Yeah, I just colored it yesterday. It’s the first time in a few years. I just wanted to try doing it. By the way… Sooji-ya… I want to apologize.
Sooji was startled when Eun talked straight to the point.
Eun: I know what I did was wrong. I should’ve been honest with you from the start. I really didn’t want to hurt your feelings, that’s why I kept quiet.
Sooji: I know. I know all of that.
Eun: You do?
Sooji: Of course I do. Honestly, I just needed time to understand the situation. It’s not like I don’t understand why you did that to me. I just realized that maybe too much time had passed and it’s already too late for us to make things up.
Eun: So… do you accept my apology?
Sooji didn’t say anything, but she nodded at Eun’s answer.
Sooji: But I think it’s gonna be hard for us to go back to how we used to be. So many things have changed now.
Eun knew very well what that meant, but at least one of her biggest burdens had been lifted, and she felt so much more at ease.
Eun: Arasseo... So, we can still go out for lunch on weekends like this right?
Sooji replied,
Sooji: Of course
Eun smiled as she heard Sooji’s answered. Sooji then asked the ahjumeoni in the restaurant for her order. It was a heartwarming scene of the two as they no longer feel the burden that lingered in them for a long time.
5th March 2018
12.00 p.m.
Kang-eonni just finished her class. She went over to the library to access her emails through the PC there. When she logged in to her email, she saw a message coming in from the recruiter of the Assistant Store Manager Intern position. She opened the email as it read,
Congratulations!
You’ve been invited for an interview to join our team as an intern for the Assistant Store Manager position.
Please come to our Seoul main boutique on Tuesday, 6th March 2018 at 10.00 a.m.
See you and have a good day.
Kang-eonni smiled as she thought her spring break is going to be productive with the internship program. She logged out of her email and turned off the computer to head out for lunch at a restaurant near the university campus. She pressed the call button on her phone and called someone,
Yina: Ya, I’m on my way already. See you there!
Kang-eonni kept her phone back in her bag and continued walking towards the restaurant. As she entered the restaurant, she saw Dongjoo who’s already sitting at one of the tables.
Yina: It’s been so long since we ate together, huh.
Dongjoo: Eo, I’ve been so busy
Yina: Aish, are they that clingy to you still?
Dongjoo sighed and replied,
Dongjoo: Eo, a lot of their husbands are busy with work, they feel lonely, so I’m their only resort to fill their emptiness.
Yina: Aigoo Dongjoo-ya…
Dongjoo: Well, isn’t that normal? Let’s forget about that and order, then. Is it the usual for you?
Yina: Eo.
Dongjoo shouted out the order for lunch to the waiter,
Dongjoo: Two sundae-gukbap please!
Waiter: Yes, coming!
While waiting for the food to come, Kang-eonni told Dongjoo that she’s been invited for an internship interview,
Yina: I’m going for an internship interview tomorrow
Dongjoo: oooo, Yina-ya, I didn’t know you’re so hardworking now.
Yina smiled at Dongjoo’s remark.
Dongjoo: Where is it?
Yina: YSL, the main boutique.
Dongjoo: Jinjja? You used to be a frequent customer there and now you’re gonna be the one to serve, are you okay with that?
Yina: Well, things are different now, of course I should be prepared.
Dongjoo liked Kang-eonni’s certainty in her answer. Just then, the waiter came with their food. They paused their conversation and ate the food in front of them to satisfy their empty stomach.
OH & PARK Entertainment
3.30 p.m.
Yoon-sunbae and her team along with the CEO were conducting a visit to check on the activities in the company, including the new girl group debut’s practice. As Mr. Oh went inside the practice room, the 5 girls who were doing the dance practice stopped and lined up in their formation to greet the CEO,
Leader: 1,2,3
The girls: Annyeonghase-yo Moonlight-imnida
CEO: Right right, continue on with your practice, work hard!
The girls: Yes, we’ll work hard!
Yoon-sunbae was standing at the back, standing still when the CEO and Moonlight were interacting. She was there to ‘follow’ her seniors anyway.
When the team has finished going for round checks, Yoon-sunbae took a break. Suddenly, someone called out her name,
Guy: Yoon Jinmyung?
Yoon-sunbae turned to where the voice came and stared at the person who called her. She couldn’t believe herself,
Jinmyung: You…
The guy approached Yoon-sunbae and stared at her before saying,
Guy: It’s me. Han Jihun.
Yoon-sunbae was really taken aback when the guy said he’s Han Jihun, her high school friend. What’s surprising is that he used to be her crush.
Jinmyung: Eot..eot..eottokhae…
Jihun: How did I come here?
Yoon-sunbae nodded her head.
Jihun: Ya… I don’t know if you paid attention or not, but didn’t you see me in the practice room just now?
Jinmyung: Practice room?
She tried to recall what happened in the practice room and then continued,
Jinmyung: Ayy, it’s impossible!
Jihun: Why? It’s impossible that I’ve become a choreographer?
Jinmyung: I thought you’d pursue your parents’ dream to go to med school? You were so smart.
Jihun: I thought hard about it, and I decided to pursue the career that I genuinely enjoy. You know I loved dancing a lot, right?
Yoon-sunbae laughed when Jihun asked that,
Jinmyung: How can I forget? Your duck-like dancing always made my day.
Jihun: Ayyy, don’t ever bring that up! That’s my dark past! By the way, which department are you at?
Jinmyung: Me? Strategic Management Team.
Jihun: Yeokshi. Once a good student, you’ll be a good employee too.
Jinmyung: So, are you going home now?
Jihun: Well, in a bit. I have another schedule to teach at my dance studio. Wanna go out for food sometime?
Jinmyung: Sure thing, why not?
Jihun: Arasseo. I’m going!
Jinmyung: Eo. Be careful!
Yoon-sunbae smiled and waved at Jihun as he went off. Suddenly, Kang Jinah stood behind her and said,
Jinah: You know him?
Yoon-sunbae touched her heart as she was startled at Jinah’s sudden appearance,
Jinmyung: Ah, he was my high school friend.
Jinah: Ah, jinjja? He’s younger than me, then… What a disappointment, he’s so handsome, though!
Yoon-sunbae heard Jinah’s words and smiled a little.
6th March 2018
9.50 a.m.
Kang-eonni arrived in front of the boutique store and stretched her lips before she entered the luxurious boutique door. When she entered the store, she told one of the store attendants that she was supposed to have an interview at 10 o’clock. She was brought upstairs to where her interview would take place.
She was seated on a table before a lady who’s in her mid-30s greeted her,
Lady: Annyeonghase-yo, my name is Jo Hyunhee
Yina: Yes, Annyeonghase-yo. I’m Kang Yina. It’s nice to meet you.
The lady scanned Kang-eonni from head-to-toe before she sat down in front of her. During the interview, Kang-eonni was asked some basic questions such as her university and major, and her interest and knowledge in high-end fashion. After the interview finished, she told Kang-eonni,
Hyunhee: Alright, Yina, I think you can start going here as soon as you can. So as I’ve explained, you’ll be helping us at the store from Monday to Friday and the schedule could be different every day based on the shifts that will be updated every week.
Yina: Alright, I got it.
Kang-eonni thought for a while before she said,
Yina: I think I can start working this Friday this week.
Kang-eonni recalled her schedule and realized that she doesn’t really have many more classes before holiday comes.
Hyunhee: Friday? Alright, I’ll see you on Friday, then/
There’s a reason why Kang-eonni chose to start her internship specifically on Friday. On Friday, the other employees are looking forward for their weekday work week to end, and people tend to be more relaxed on Friday, so she thought it’d be a good day to start working and get to know the others who will be working alongside her there.
Yina: Thank you very much for the opportunity.
Kang-eonni made her way down and went out of the store with a huge smile on her face. There was one person she had in mind after she got accepted,
Yina: Eo, Dongjoo-ya, I got accepted!
Dongjoo: Jinjja? Congrats
Yina: Where are you?
Dongjoo: Now? I’m on my way to meet my client, the one who owns Villa Sortino, that restaurant you begged me to make an appointment at
Yina: Aish, arasseo. You don’t really have to bring that up. It’s such a long time ago already. I’m hanging up.
Kang-eonni pressed the red button and put her phone in her bag before she headed over to have some brunch before going to class.
Yonsei University
10.30 a.m.
Jiwon was about to head to the university press office when people were staring at her. She thought, ‘is there something wrong with me?’
Jiwon: Why? Am I that pretty? Aigoo
Suddenly, Sungmin hugged Jiwon from behind and said,
Sungmin: Eo, you’re pretty.
Jiwon: Aish, Sungmin-ie you… You’ve become forward day by day, huh
Sungmin loosened his grip on Jiwon and started to act how he normally did.
Sungmin: By the way, what should I wear to your friend’s wedding this Saturday?
Jiwon: Hm… wait a second, let me check if there’s a dress code.
Jiwon opened the e-invitation on her phone and said,
Jiwon: Well, it says here dressy casual
Sungmin: Arasseo.
Sungmin offered his hand to Jiwon, and Jiwon who saw it held Sungmin’s hand and they walked hand-in-hand to the university press office. He now doesn’t have to suppress his feelings and affection for Jiwon anymore, because almost every Yonsei students know them as the Nation’s Bus Kiss Couple.
When Sungmin and Jiwon arrived at the office, the female hoobae who had a crush on Sungmin smirked and commented at herself,
Hoobae: I knew it. See... It’s impossible that they won’t be together.
7.30 p.m.
After everything’s done at the university, Sungmin and Jiwon decided to go back home. But before that, Chungwon suddenly approached them and said,
Chungwon: Hyung, Jiwon-sunbae…
Sungmin and Jiwon looked at Chungwon and waited for what he had to say.
Chungwon: Do you wanna eat dinner and have some drinks with me and Eunjae?
Sungmin and Jiwon looked at each other before Jiwon said,
Jiwon: Sure! Sungmin-ah, let’s go!
Sungmin just followed whatever Jiwon told him to.
At the restaurant…
8.00 p.m.
Jiwon, Sungmin, Chungwon, and Eunjae all sat down at the table. The restaurant was near the university campus, so there were a few other students who were eating at the place along with them.
Sungmin told Jiwon before ordering,
Sungmin: Don’t drink too much, okay?
Jiwon: Ayy, don’t worry too much about me. I’m gonna be fine.
Eunjae who paid attention to both of them said,
Eunjae: Do you realize how cute you two are?
Eunjae: Chungwon oppa, don’t you agree?
Chungwon: Hm, it’s true.
Sungmin and Jiwon both said,
Sungmin & Jiwon: We?
Eunjae nodded.
Jiwon: No wonder, look at that enormous views in our video. Aigoo, you might as well get married to me, Sungmin-ah
Jiwon’s words totally struck Sungmin. When Jiwon jokingly said he could marry her a long time ago, he brushed that off easily, but now that they’re both in a relationship, it’s a different story.
Sungmin: Shhhh, you’re being too noisy now.
The food and drinks came to the table and the four of them ate and drank with passion and laughter.
After the dinner…
After settling the bills, the four came out of the restaurant and said goodbye to one another. When Sungmin and Jiwon left the premise, Chungwon and Eunjae were just about to make their way when suddenly Jongyeol and his two guy friends were about to enter the restaurant.
Jongyeol’s face showed awkwardness as he had to encounter Eunjae who’s now in a relationship with Chungwon.
Eunjae: Sunbae, annyeonghaseyo
Jongyeol who heard Eunjae’s cool greeting just stayed quiet. He then saw Chungwon who’s standing beside Eunjae. He scanned Chungwon from head to toe and said,
Jongyeol: Annyeong, Yoo Eunjae.
After exchanging some awkward greetings, Eunjae and Chungwon parted ways. Jongyeol’s friends asked him to go inside.
Friend 1: Ya, Eunjae has changed a lot, hasn’t she?
Friend 2: Eo, Jongyeol-ah, can’t you see how confident she has become now?
Jongyeol kept quiet as he felt embarrassed of himself.
Jongyeol: She must feel so happy now, her boyfriend must be so understanding and caring. Look at the way he stood beside Eunjae, couldn’t you guys judge how protective he was towards her?
Hearing Jongyeol’s unusual remarks, his friends decided to change the topic and initiated to start drinking the beers and soju that were already on the table. They knew Jongyeol and Eunjae’s relationship didn’t really end well, and they knew that Jongyeol was still lingering up until that moment.
Who knew, a guy’s regret could come that late. Maybe it’s true that girls tend to grieve over the end of a relationship much harder, but it takes more time for a guy to forget their past relationship.
