#after sora sees that vanitas has his face

I find it interesting how Roxas is often described as the “angry one” or “short-tempered one” when compared to Sora or Ventus, mostly because I always felt Sora and Ven have a shorter fuse than Roxas.
The association between Roxas and anger is understandable, because many of Roxas’ most poignant moments in the series happen when he is very (and understandably) angry, but I also feel like it’s a disservice to his character to only reduce him to his anger, especially when it’s far from who he is in normal circumstances.
For example, during Days, many Organization members treat him poorly and insult him to his face and, for the most part, Roxas doesn’t react at all. In Halloween Town, Lock, Shock, and Barrel throw bombs in his face multiple times before Roxas finally snaps at them. He senses that many people around him are keeping things from him, but it takes him months before he confronts someone about it. That’s far from someone I’d consider short-tempered or easy to anger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only situation I can think of when we see him get upset quickly is if anyone does or says something bad to Xion and, even then, the most of his reaction is verbally snapping at Saix to make him stop disrespecting her. In Axel’s case (when Roxas is upset with him for attacking Xion), Roxas doesn’t confront him at all, he just avoids him altogether. Also, I think it’s important to note that every moment in which Roxas is very angry happens when his entire life is falling apart, which is a situation in which, I believe, everyone would be upset.
Roxas seems the kind of person who bottles everything up without much reaction until it becomes too much and he explodes, and that’s when he has a hard time controlling his anger/emotions. Having spent most of his life in the organization probably plays a part in it as, every time he brings up any emotion, his feelings are invalidated and suppressed. That’s not an environment that gave him the tools to process strong emotions in a healthy way.
Let’s compare that to Ventus. Ven is the definition of short-tempered in BBS. He’s ready to throw hands with Vanitas the moment he says something remotely bad about Terra, which was minutes after he met him for the first time. He fought the dwarves without a second thought just because they refused to talk with him. His first reaction when he becomes small and is trapped in a mousetrap is to shout. These are just some examples from the top of my head, but it’s clear Ven has a shorter fuse than Roxas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ventus usually expresses how he feels in any given situation and has a short fuse. On the flip side, he doesn’t seem to hold on to these feelings at all. He externalises them the moment he feels them, but then he lets it go and it doesn’t bother him anymore. Out of the three of them, Ventus seems the most open about his emotions and, from what I remember, when he opens up about feeling a certain way with his friends, his feelings are usually not invalidated nor brushed aside. In UX, Ventus seems calmer and doesn’t have much anger in him, but he’s still open to expressing his feelings of low self-worth and sadness with the other union leaders.
Sora, I think he falls in the middle? He seems to have a shorter temper compared to Roxas, which was especially clear in KH2, where he snaps at the Organization multiple times, but he also bottles up his emotions more than Ven, especially around his friends. This happens mostly with his sadness, which he always tries to hide or brush aside, but in KH3 we can also see, for example, how much he’s bothered by everyone constantly bringing up him not passing the Mark of Mastery, even if he tries not to show it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think Sora feels like he should always be happy for his friends’ sake, and even during the rare moments when he tries to express his sadness, his feelings are not truly welcomed (“No frowning. No sad faces. This boat runs on happy faces”), so he just tries to brush it off as a joke. He’s loud in expressing any kind of positive emotion, and he openly expresses his anger against his enemies (and to his friends too, sometimes), but he also doesn’t hold on to that anger and is pretty forgiving. However, he usually bottles up his sadness, low self-esteem and other negative feelings, and then explodes when he can’t hold it together any longer (like it happened at the Keyblade Graveyard when he thought all his friends were gone forever).

'Keeping the Light' AU
Sometimes I wonder what Ventus would have turned out like if Xehanort decided to keep him around. ...btw, that's not blood leaking from his eyes and ears, it's darkness... totally... yep.
Ventus may be the light half but I can hardly see Xehanort facilitating a positive personality. If anything, I think Vanitas would be the loud (and obnoxious) one and Ventus would seem empty and calculating, never really seeming to grow from the state of getting his heart torn apart.  (I’m thinking, his heart may be healed, but it is being smothered by darkness / Xehanort's will.)
And I love the idea that, as he crosses paths with Terra and Aqua, he begins to grow more positive traits. Of course, this is only after he ends up fighting them like a stone-cold human weapon. He might be a being of light but he would be absolutely ruthless.
I like to think Sora’s heart/light would be sheltering him from a lot of the cruelty Xehanort inflicts on him and Vanitas. And when he gets to actually interact with those who show genuine kindness, it starts to bring out his humanity.
And you know, if Ventus can be saved from Xehanort's control, then Vanitas has a shot at healing/redemption as well. He's probably not nearly as receptive to Aqua and Terra who... well, he's just as awful to them as in canon.  Or not - there are literally too many ideas for this concept! Vanitas getting on decent terms with Aqua and Terra before Ventus, as well as growing to care for his 'brother' over time, is a pretty interesting subversion of expectation.
There is also the potential of them both not having full hearts, (which means Vani is running around without a face until Sora or someone else shows up to heal him.)
Regardless of the story, I like the vibe of this drawing. Let Ven go off and tear things up with his light power! >:D
(Don't know if I'll keep the name for this AU, but I wanted to title it something.)

My kingdom hearts ships really just have become yes.
I straight up made this list because at somepoint imma draw these ships whether it's aus or not.
I like Sornami this I don't know why but I always felt Sora have more chemistry with Namine even if it's based off fake memories for the first half. But also I'm still slightly prefer them with others as well.
Love soriku there's no question their I reblog it like alot the ship has stuck with me sense kh2. And hasn't ever left. But other than that I'm a sucker for friends to lovers troop and this was the first friends to rivals to enemies to friends to loves. I'm not one who normally like rivals to lovers or enemies to lovers but this ship opened that up for me especially with how Riku tries so hard to redeem himself for Sora when he doesn't even have to.
Sorkai in kh 1 is great but shaky about it later on especially with reading the novels and looking at the translation of kh 3 also cause I think Kairi deserves better than how Sora treats her sometimes. It's like she's an after thought sometimes and it sucks.
Now Kairi with anyone else is higher then sorkai like roxiri, vankai, venkai, namikai, xion x kairi and sometimes and this is really just sometimes Odette x Kairi. I love all the ships and how their concepts could be.
I love namixi, rokunami, rokunamixi (ot3 like I think it'd be wholesome if they all were together and caring for eachother), rokushi these just are wholesome regardless of how you look at them.
Repliku and Namine I don't really ship Riku in Namine because I think Nomura shot that down instantly by changing the cutscene but also I liked the idea of Riku treating Namine, Kairi and Xion all similar sense he tends to interact slightly similar with each of them. But Repliku and Namine is both sad and wholesome it's probably due to the biased I have for liking the fan made trio with her the lost trio.
Vanami and Vankai so I got a reason for liking these two ships one the concept of Vanitas probably seeing Kairi as weak (in his eyes) or something but growing and interested in her for standing up and facing him despite that. Maybe they'd start off at odds not liking eachother or Vanitas being interesting while Kairi just sees him as a threat. The difference with Namine is I think he'd slightly mellow out not to much but find the fact she can manipulate memories fascinating. Maybe she reaches out wanting to help him even if he's full on darkness she probably would want to help like with Repliku but this time she feels she can is in more control to.
Okay okay the ships Namikai so I liked the aspect of how when they connected they have a light connection not to say that means anything but when Kairi needed someone Namine came in kh 2 and understood her like no one else even if she is technically a form of her Namine develops into her own person outside of Kairi and I just think it's wholesome which ever way you see it platonic or romantic.
Xion and Kairi I think in Xions case this ship is interesting to say the least not that it's bad just sense Xion in that weird grey area, she's Kairi, Sora and Riku at the sametime she develops on her own but still was the memories of Sora of Kairi and possibly Riku as well (cause why else did she experience a memorie only Riku has) so I guess she could have feelings for Kairi off Sora's memories of her but then again as she developed and Kairi slowly grow feelings over her seeing Xion becoming stronger despite her struggles.
I weirdly like Kairi and Strelitzia as a concept it's cute and I feel like wholesome from most comics or people who've talked about it. They tend to have wholesome ideas.
Venkai okay this one is just yes for me while her time away from Sora and training with Aqua she could get to learn not only combat but that she doesn't have to mimic others. From Kairi in Melody of memories in the Japanese translation she seems to blame herself slightly about Sora's death but not only that but from her combat in kh 3 it mimics mainly Sora's but with some of Riku. With Kairi's character constantly trying to catch up to both I feel like with time she lost a bit of herself due to that. From not finding her own way to train or fight that's why I think not only with the training from Aqua could she have time to reflect and think but get advice as well. In that time whether romantic or platonic I think Kairi and Ven would interact alot getting to know eachother and it being healthy to see the Wayfinder trios interactions. It might make her miss her friends but also might make her resolve to grow stronger that much firm. Now to the way I see Venkai sense Ventus is treated as the kid within the Wayfinder trio having someone around his age or also treated could lead to interesting bonding or Ventus mentioning how after all they been through Aqua and Terra still treat him like a kid. Kairi who probably doesn't really mind bring treated like she's younger much but might open up a bit more. Maybe over time they both talk about their worries or the events that happen to find some sort of closure. I think even if Ventus and her I think would he cute I also know full well it can be platonic as well.
Roxiri I will die on this rarepair ship. Okay actual reason I just love the concept the struggle with Roxas not knowing if she likes him for technically being a part of him or if his feelings are his own or Sora's (yes Xion probably go through that struggle to) while Kairi might end up hanging around him for see that he feels left behind to. I know Nomura doesn't address it much but from days and both Xion and him wanting to see where Alex went to when Xion forced a fight on him I do think Roxas should have a bit more struggle with those two events especially with them coming back not saying they wouldn't be friends again I just think they should talk about it maybe there's a stiffness in the air till they interact and in this time Kairi who also feels left behind alot probably talk about it growing a slow bond. From Kairi giving suggestions like Roxas talking it out especially sense thats how her and Axel worked it out. And Roxas letting her know that she doesn't have to face things along or feel left behind and to go at her pace. Maybe they could start having small bit training like he did with Xion in-between her training with Aqua. I feel like Roxas though would probably start off a little bit distant when she approaches probably dealing with the fact now that he's out only to find out Ventus is there and he looks like him exactly. Roxas struggles didn't really get addressed much but I do think if they were Kairi might help him out a bit even if it's just advice. The concept just intrigues me and I love it so dear.
Lastly RokuNamiXi I like Xion and Roxas I personally prefer rokunami a bit more but I also love the concept that they would just date together from me shipping all three pairs of Namine and Xion, Roxas and Xion and Roxas and Namine. I didn't wanna just let any of them be a third wheel. I think it'd be wholesome and sweet to see them all dating eachother from having feelings for eachother.

Even MORE KH3 Assorted Thoughts- because this game is giving so much, for real:
San Fransokyo is absolutely sick and I've been bouncing around the skyscrapers while jamming to the Spiderverse OST. As long as Flowmotion and Shotlock exists, KH as a franchise has gotta give me more urban settings to zip around in.
The cutscene where Sora/Roxas kind of intertwine with their experiences on top of the Golden Gate Bridge. 😭"And when you're not strong enough, he'll make up the difference." Oogh, Roxas being likened to a brother figure for Sora is painful and delicious. I like the inclusion of Hayner, Pence, and Olette through Roxas' eyes. If he had looked to his other side and seen Axel, and a glimpse of Xion, that would've really completed the scene. All the people Roxas had watched the sunset with...
Was a bit confused by the Big Hero 6 plot, not gonna lie. Like, I thought our new Org. member was the Riku Replica, but then this guy says he's KH1 Riku that gave up his body in order to time travel. That and, as I see later, the Riku Replica was just hanging out with Riku in his final moments, so... I dunno, that plotline is just all sorts of fishy. In an attempt to scrutinize here the plot's going with this... I'm unsure if it's really KH1 Riku as he claims he is, especially since Maleficent dropped a major hint with the "though I'm not sure I could tell you from when," Which, given her familiarity with KH1 Riku, tells me that me that we're supposed to be questioning the validity of the Org. Riku's claims.
RIKU'S NEW KEYBLADE LOOKS LIKE A MF CAR KEY HAHA.
Oh. My. God? The World of Darkness scene, guys. So much. It looks like Sora was able to have his Power of Waking activate in order to save Riku (since he used Eraqus' Keyblade and not a Keyblade of Darkness to dive in, the only possibility left as to how that was possible would be using his Power of Waking, so...). 😭 Damn, this is what the Disney world build up was there for, guys. Foreshadowing of power of love, my beloved. Also very sweet/funny how Riku had no way of knowing about Sora rushing to save him, so he's just in the thick of battle, desperate, and mumbling "Sora..." under his breath to keep himself going. Godspeed, champ. 🫡 Then he wonders if he somehow summoned him as Sora proceeds to jump right in for a certified mind blown moment.
Riku's slow-mo POV of Sora splashing in was hilarious. Boy looked like this ->😳
How is Reality Shift Keyblade existing outside of the Sleeping Worlds? Question mark?? So sick that they brought it back but uhm? So many questions with these World of Darkness cutscenes... But wow, goddamn.
The little smile Sora turns around to give Riku after parrying off Aqua's attack. My goodness... so sweet. Not to mention the musical side of the scene, with how Sora's theme melded beautifully into Dearly Beloved when he and Riku used their Keyblade. Man... this game really feels a bit like Sora's answer to Riku's journey in DDD. They've got each other's backs, man!
Sora reaching in to grab Aqua... and the group hug afterwards... Aqua's got to be so on edge, now, after all this. If only Keyblade wielders could get complementary therapy.
Also big-sis Aqua cradling Ventus' sleeping face. 🥹
Also, also Aqua unlocking Castle Oblivion looked so cool.
Vanitas crashing the party was hilarious, considering how hard the boy must have been hustling to get there. "I have been falling through doors for THIRTY MINUTES!"
Ventus flashing between seeing Vanitas in Sora's face was interesting. Definitely a readjustment and a half. Really excited to see dynamic between Ventus and the Destiny trio. Y'know, how he perceives them due to living life through Sora's eyes in a long dream of his own. Love how he saw the Dream Eaters and thought they were adorable...
Aqua got to have a "you got so big" moment with Sora and Kairi and I just find that adorable. I expect one with Terra to Riku once we get him un-possessed.
Btw, everything with Axel/Lea (we love a multiple name king) and Kairi has been driving me crazy this game. I love them. The redheads who get left behind, the stable anchor for their groups who go through the pain of abandonment and the guilt of helplessness. Obviously, they're different people and it'd be nice to hear more of each of their own perspectives, but KH is a series of parallels, and I think that most things haunting Axel/Lea haunt Kairi as well.
...In a similar vein, I was just as gutted by and perceive the wonderful sunset scene between Sora and Kairi to be Kairi's own "You just keep running, but I'll always be there to bring you back," equivalent moment. But since it's Kairi, and not Axel, she's melancholic in her subtle pleading to Sora. "I just want to be a part of your life no matter what. That's all." She verbally minimizes herself and her presence in Sora's life because of the growing distance between them, and that's heartbreaking, dude. Still, I'm happy that Sora agreed to have a Paopu Fruit with her to give her some level of affirmation, even if he looked a little confused/unsure at first. She needs that semblance of stability before the shit goes down so much right now, and I wonder if he realized that to some degree... Kairi, my poor child. I hope she realizes how important she is, later on.
Also, I'll just say it here, because this is just me spitballing but it's on topic. I get the feeling this scene might have been foreshadowed by the Hundred Acre Woods story (and why was that world so SHORT, AAA-). I had my suspicions back in KH2 due to the amnesia subplot, and now feel pretty confident that the Hundred Acre Woods are meant to connect to Sora's perception of "home/childhood" and therefore his perception of Kairi as well. While ecstatic to see Pooh and gang in KH1 and KH2, here he was placating and ready to leave in KH3 (which was hilarious contrast to myself, btw, because I was more like "LFG" 😂). I thought it was perhaps just strange writing at first, but then the game goes out and says it when Sora considers how he feels his connection to everyone is weaker, and he's not sure why. And this is after Pooh is all "Welcome home," (KH2 ending, anyone) and worries about "forgetting [Sora] away" (Sora's absence making Pooh lose his place in his life, also alluding to KH2, possibly). Of course Sora doesn't like that and panics, because similarly to how Kairi struggles with change of character and circumstance, Sora struggles with the idea of relationships changing or growing apart- he's very stubborn about it. So, I appreciate Merlin saying the thing about relationships merely changing form, and that it's not the end of the world. Anyway, all of this is making me very morose, because it makes me think of all of those people you grew up with that you don't talk to much anymore but still think of fondly and would love to hear from them again, as you remember them in your mind's eye.
*shakes them* SORA. KAIRI. TALK TO EACH OTHER. SORA, LET KAIRI BE AT PEACE, HER SAD-ASS SOCIAL MEDIA POST THING ON THE LOADING SCREEN IS BUMMING ME OUT. Anyway, this is why I'm happy that Kairi is making friends with Axel/Lea, so she can have other people in her life that won't necessarily go galavanting into the universe and leave her behind at a moment's notice (/hj, no Sora hate, for real, just look at my blog, he's my favorite 'lil guy along with Roxas).
Uh, so... now I'm putting off progressing the story by getting chests and finding lucky emblems, lol. Right now, all my dudes are happy and taking a little break before they confront the baddies, and I'm slightly nervous to see if the game also delivers on the foreshadowing of the Disney Worlds also having a lot of dying in them. 😬 Obviously whatever happens will get fixed with the power of love and whatnot, but I don't exactly want the gang to go through more suffering than they've got to, lmao. And GIVE ME ROXAS AND XION ALREADY.

i have a theory that maybe vanitas is actually sora's darkness now that was know he's not ven's..?
it's been in my mind for so long for so so so long but when you realize that kingdom hearts 1 when sora turns into a shadow all kairi does is return his form back to normal, right? right.
returns him to normal BUT he's still just a heartless. he's just a heart like ansem. end of kh1 is just humanoid heartless vs humanoid heartless right? right.
so it's not until kh2 when he meets up with roxas and he returns that sora is completed right? bc that was the whole point, sora wasn't complete so that's why xion and roxas had to go back it wasn't just his memories but sora himself. right.
so that whole time during 2 sora has anti form up until the end, which essentially is him using too much power and essentially fluctuating between his heartless form and himself. nomura himself confirmed it's due to becoming a heartless in 1 and that story-wise it's due to using too much power... it represents his darkness. right.
he also said that rage form is something different to anti-form. that it's representative of his anger. emotions.
and yknow who shows up in 3 when that debuted? the man of emotions himself:
Tumblr media
so all this just to say i've been thinking about how both ven and van are from years into the past, and that vanitas ultimately wasn't ventus' to begin with. (ventus was a being of pure light if I'm understanding correctly.)
vanitas' form was created before either of them met sora too. it's stated that vanitas was removed from ventus and then ventus then went to meet sora. so where did vanitas' form actually come from?
it's possible that:
ventus was able to transform him into a sora clone simply because fate said so, it was always meant to happen like the closed loop for heart ansem sending young xehanort to scala.
ventus somehow was able to alter vanitas' form after the removal while inside of sora's heart
vanitas' form looked like this before the Darkness hivemind was separated/fragmented
so i'm thinking if Sora continues to have the rage form ability or some kind of upgraded emotion-based darkness form... maybe it's related to vanitas somehow? either something removed from sora and sent into the past or something that grows from sora and into something like vanitas? it very well could just be that vanitas' return, sora's rage form, their confrontation being in monsters inc which has swapped to "this ships runs on happy faces" + yeeting vanitas, sora seeing vanitas' face, sora refusing to accept that vanitas chose to be darkness is all just to show the player sora's emotional state.
that sora himself refuses to acknowledge the darkness' that he harbors could be bad in any way, avoids confronting his negative emotions properly, and feeding into the toxic positivity that he's carried since the first game...
but idk i think it'd be really interesting if that's a deeper reason for why vanitas looks the way he does. that he could potentially be darkness that sora had cast aside and stuck with ventus long enough to essentially become intertwined with him. idk i also kind of think this could go along with MoM's whole thing of wanting to get as far away from Darkness as possible. sora's on a path to rejecting darkness in his heart, but with guidance from riku who went through accepting his own it's possible that maybe sora's meant to be the one to accept vanitas as he is instead of ventus.
if anyone has thoughts about this lemme know, i'd love to see others thoughts

Hello again! I recently requested Riku x reader who is a heartless and also Ansem’s child, and I was wondering if you do the same but this one is Ventus or maybe Terra x Gender neutral reader who is a Unversed just like Vanitas but also his child as well?
Yeah, I’m going with Ventus on this one.
Who Is She
Since I’m using Ventus, there’s no romance in this. Just pointing that out. I just want to write Ventus.
Takes place during Birth by Sleep and a little thing for KH3 at the end.
Along with seeing Vanitas, Ventus also sees a small child everywhere he goes.
R is gender neutral with they/them pronouns. Again, no restrictions of gender. Also, R is the same age as Sora.
It has been a growing constant with Ventus. As he visited various worlds, along with seeing Vanitas, he’s been seeing a small child walking around. The child couldn’t be older than four years old. Ventus tries to follow them, but they always disappear the second he gets close. He almost considers giving up, until he saw the child in Radiant Garden.
He walks up to them, only for them to not run away this time. He’s able to get a better look at them. They wore a blue and red body suit with a black belt around their waist. The belt buckle was the Unversed emblem, but he didn’t really notice it. They had (hair length) (color) hair. Their (color) eyes slightly looked like red in the right light.
He gently places a hand on their shoulder. “Hey, who are you?” He asks, but they refuse to talk. “Oh.” He slightly backs up. “Where’s your family? Are you lost?” The kid shakes their head at the second question. “Did you run away?” He asks, getting a nod in return.
He slightly chuckles, scratching the back of his head. “I ran away from home, too.” He tells the child, making them slightly smile. “Do you wanna explore the worlds with me?” He offers, watching as the child emphatically nod. The two walk off, reading to explore the worlds they haven’t been.
———————————————
The two explore a lot of worlds. Sometimes, the child would stray off. Ventus wouldn’t think anything of it until they come back, multiple unversed chasing after them. Ventus would defeat the unversed before asking the child why they ran off. He’d never get a response, so he drop the conversation and the two continue exploring. They soon end up in The Keyblade Graveyard to face off against Xehanort.
———————————————
Ventus, the child, and Vanitas were in a secluded area. “Go! Hide! I’ll take care of him!” Ventus urges them to leave, only for them to stand perfectly still. Vanitas laughs. “You can’t imagine (Y/N) would listen to you when their father is here.”
Ventus’ eyes grow wide at the new information. “They are Xehanort’s child?” Vanitas groans. “No, you idiot.” He says as (Y/N) starts walking towards him. “They’re mine.” He says as (Y/N)’s walk slows to a stop, turning to face Ventus. “It was all part of the plan. Get you so close to them you and have them pull your heartstrings just enough so that you couldn’t bare to see them get hurt.”
A few flood unversed popped up, pulling Ventus to the ground. “The unversed come from you?” He struggles to get out of the unversed’s hold. “Of course.” Vanitas responds. “What do you think (Y/N) is?” He taunts. Ventus finally saw the Unversed belt buckle (Y/N) wore. He felt lied to. Betrayed. His anger and hatred was directed towards Vanitas and they fought, forging the x-blade.
It wasn’t known what happened to (Y/N) after Vanitas disappeared. Some say they died with the other unversed…
———————————————
More than a decade later, Sora and his friends found themselves in Monstropolis. As they turned a corner, there were countless unversed and a hooded figure standing on the far end of the room. The ground defeats the unversed, just to realize that Boo was taken.
Sora turns to the entrance of the door vault to see the hooded figure holding Boo. With a taunting wave, the figure disappears into the door vault. The group hastily follow.
After a while, they caught up with the hooded figure and Boo. “Leave the girl alone!” Sora yells. The figure shrugs. “Why, though. I’ve always wanted a little sister.” Sora was a little weirded out by the response. “Kidnapping is not the way to do it, though!” Mike tells the cloaked figure.
Boo wiggled out of the figure’s hold, running back to the group. The figure groans, summoning a dark corridor. “I’ll be back.” The figure disappears, leaving the ground alone in the door vault.
———————————————
At The Keyblade Graveyard, Sora, Aqua, and Ventus were in a battle against Terranort, Vanitas, and the hooded figure from Monstropolis. The guardians were really going at the hooded figure. With one hit too much, the figure falls to the ground. Their hood falls off, showing (Y/N). They were much older, but it was still them.
Ventus drops his keyblade, running over to (Y/N). He kneels down next to them, gently pulling their head to his lap. They were coughing badly. Sora and Aqua ran up to the two. “Potion! They need a potion!” Ventus says to them, extending his hand out. Sora pulls a potion out from his pocket and hands it to Ventus.
Ventus opens the bottle, only to be stopped by (Y/N) keeping their mouth shut. “It doesn’t taste that bad.” Ventus tries to convince them. They take the potion from him and downs it, wanting to not be in pain anymore.
Their wounds heal and they were back to normal.
———————————————
I’d add more, but I’m lost of ideas. I hope you like this, regardless.🥰

👋👋 this is my first time asking for something Im curious on how yandere repliku would react to his S/O being a guardian of light and would he kidnap them before the war?
ooo, welcome to the blog then! I’m just noticing that there’s quite the backlog for yandere stuff, hohohohoho
general warning for usual yandere topics!
Tumblr media
First, some context for the guy as a yandere! Repliku strikes me as one of the most common types - jealous, overprotective, possessive and aggressive, but oddly enough, it’s extremely easy to calm him down? Any affectionate gesture from his darling is enough to distract him from all of his anguish, even if all you do is meet his gaze and smile or pat his back. While he's starved for your attention, he knows better than to be greedy and force you to indulge him - it's way easier to keep everyone else at bay, after all. You have permanent scary dog privileges whenever you’re with him! It’s almost like having a cat that is mean to everyone except you for a pet.
But it’s very, very different if you’re actually dating him. The only thing that kept you relatively safe all this time is that fine line Repliku would never dare to cross - you are not his, so he understands that he has no right to demand your time nor attention, even if he still pouts and tries his best to drive your friends and loved ones away. But once it’s established that you are his partner, it’s fucking over for you, bestie </3.
Repliku is now your self-appointed and permanent knight in not-so-shiny armor. It gets worse the longer you date, because he stops from holding back and acts on every impulse to keep you by his side, feeling justified by your own choice to date him. You chose this. You did this. You wanted him, so clearly you’ll be okay with every measure he takes to keep you safe and happy. It’s also harder to please him now, he’s so clingy. Repliku feels entitled to every breath you take, every second you spend awake. And while his mind games have nothing on Vanitas’ guilt tripping and manipulation, Repliku still retains Riku’s keen eye - he can read you like an open book and say the right things to make you doubt yourself, make you feel like you need to depend on him.
It’s almost a miracle you wound up as a guardian of light with him orbiting around you, pulling you back every time you go somewhere he can’t follow. Repliku loves that spark within you that dares to oppose him, all so you can follow whatever bullshit you believe in about justice, light or the kindness of people’s hearts - he adores that side of you. And he’s fine if you want to be on the losing team (he’ll be there to take you back where you belong once you’re done playing around), he’s fine if you face him in battle (he’ll graciously accept every attack and scar you leave on him, marking you with his own as well). But the one thing he can’t stand is seeing people like Sora, especially Sora, breathing in the same direction as you.
That’s when it all comes crashing down for Repliku. If he sees you have a single positive interaction with Sora, he’ll lose it. It doesn’t matter if all you did was say good morning to him, or wish him luck in his adventures or just mention his name in passing conversation. Your name in Sora’s mouth is blasphemy, but for you to look so genuinely happy when talking to him? When he’s already eeryone’s favorite starchild? That’s unbearable, it’s enough to remind him that he’s not even the original copy, so there’s no way he can even compare to someone like Sora.
What does he have that sets him apart from Riku? What does he have that makes him better than Sora? Is there anything in his made-believe life worth clinging to? Why yes, yes there is. It’s you. He has you. You and your love for him, the two things that define his entire existence. Repliku, so incredibly delusional and desperate, would absolutely steal you away way before the final encounter against Xehanort - hell, the guy would gladly leave the real Organization hanging way earlier if it meant having you locked up. He’d lure you with whatever is most efficient, maybe you respond better to threats, maybe you’ll fall for his act of begging for redemption.
Once he has you in his grasp, he’s not going to let go. He’ll provide food, shelter, entertainment and all you have to do is keep him company - hell, you can literally say anything you want or escape and fight him to your heart’s content, Repliku won’t mind. He still adores that spark in you and he’ll be there until that fire is snuffed out and all you can think of is him. Everything else is temporary - at some point, you’ll come to understand that it’s your turn to be a supportive partner. He let you play the role of hero, after all! It’s your turn to indulge him. Sure, he might lash out during particularly bad days, but never directly at you - he redirects that fury to the outside world. Sometimes, you wish it were you instead of all your loved ones.

Writing based of my thread on twitter. Of course Ventus would hate himself after everything. The realization that your happiness has made others suffer, that your whole existence has brought bad luck... it's a nightmare. You WERE meant to exist, Ventus. But the world would be better off without  you, wouldn't it?
"Ventus. Listen to me."
Ventus. The boy who's brought nothing but misery. You wanted to be happy, and Strelitzia died. You wanted to survive being split from Vanitas, and he suffered under Master Xehanort's teachings. You didn't want to die, not really, so you took sanctuary within Sora's Heart, and since then, his life has been hell.
"Stop that. Stop talking to yourself like that,  Ventus."
Why shouldn't Ventus think of himself so lowly? You've brought nothing but pain. You never meant to, but you did. And despite it all, despite knowing people have been hurt and that the universe would be happier without you, Ventus, you're selfish enough to be scared of being punished. Being blamed. Paying for what you did with your life--
"You didn't DO anything!"
Despite knowing people were hurt, Ventus is still selfish enough to WANT to LIVE.
It's not until Ventus feels wet fabric against his face that he realizes he's been crying into someone's shirt.
"Those people were hurt, yeah. It fucking sucks," Roxas whispers into Ventus' ear, holding the other tight against his chest. "But do you really think beating yourself up about that's going to change anything? You really think Strelitzia and Sora want you to hurt?"
They should want you to hurt. It's what you deserve.
"Yeah? Well people told me all I deserved was to become part of Sora again. That it was my destiny to be a part of him and nothing else."
Ventus is quiet. Shaky, selfish arms grip Roxas closer. Ventus feels his fingers tangle together. It's hard to feel connected to his body right now. So any sensation that proves he's still here is helpful. But deep down, Ventus knows he shouldn't be holding Roxas so tenderly. Shouldn't be allowing himself to feel this comfort, after all the pain he's caused.
"Sora couldn't wake up until I was put down. He'd never wake up if I wasn't killed. Do you think I deserved to stop existing for his sake? Do you think he should've stayed asleep for mine?"
Ventus feels his throat tighten. His lips quiver all fierce, and he finds himself rubbing his forehead against Roxas' chest. His breath hitches. Roxas' voice is still strong, but it's a lot gentler. More quiet. Still determined to get a point across, but so very, very caring.
"See, Ven? It's more complicated than one person deserving to live and someone else deserving to be hurt. Bad things might've happened to you. And some might've happened because of an accident. But you didn't cause this shit. You didn't mean to hurt them. All you did was exist. All you did was try to survive and do you really think anyone should be punished for that? For just wanting to live life, for fighting for their survival?"
Ventus sobs. Roxas rubs a hand along his back.
(Ventus remembers a long time ago, when he begged Terra and Aqua to "put an end to me". He'd brought the two of them nothing but suffering, hadn't he?)
(. . . But if he'd REALLY only brought them sadness, then why didn't they destroy him? Why did they fight so hard to keep their family together?)
"You might not think you have a right to exist. But I do. We all do."

KHDR Thoughts bc I’m trying to process all of this
-I knew it was going to end with everyone other than Xehanort and Eraqus dying but dang. It was a lot more emotional than I was expecting. RIP literally everyone
-Glad Vidar didn’t actually end up being evil after all (esp since he was the only black guy. That would not have been taken well by anyone at all ://) I wish we got to see more of him and Vor together though. They looked like they’d developed a stronger friendship being together
-Fuckin’ Baldr man. The tragedy of it all. That poor guy. KH are really starting to like the ‘brother and sister dynamic but the sister dies’
-Interesting how even though it was implied that the rest of the upper classmen were in The Final World, they were still reachable in The Underworld? I wonder if that will tie into KH4 at all since Donald and Goofy seem to be looking for clues about Sora there
-Ofc Bragi ended up being Luxu. How many faces has that guy had up to this point? Will Braig be his next one? L: “Eyo I quite liked being Bragi and the name is cool so I’ll just change the next vessel’s name up a little” *Moves the i to a different place* “Omg perfect”
-MoM’s name is now Theodore. Or possibly Jack. Master Theo. Actually that makes sense since theology is the study of religion, faith and the divine and that is right up MoM’s alley we worked it out guys
-Xehanort actually remembers his mum? And Player raised him? We collectively raised a child together, KHUX players. That’s our son right there. What have we done.
-’The Ephemer fucks’ thing from the KHUX finale is still legit guys, he’s part of the reason Xehanort is a thing. #Ephemerfucksbutatwhatcost?
-Vanitas is totally that rogue Darkness that survived and he’s playing dumb. And I think Xehanort clocked onto him too. I just want to see him in the next saga, man.
Ok I think thats everything for now. I enjoyed DR and I’m looking forward to Missing Link and how that fits with connecting the- well, the missing link  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

This is Kokoro! 🪷🩷
Tumblr media
Kokoro is my OC from Kingdom Hearts. Her first outfit is from BBS. The second is her outfit from DDD and KH3.
🪷🪷🪷
She was found unconscious and almost dead by Master Eraqus as a child. He took her back to the Land of Departure and raised her alongside Aqua and Terra (and eventually Ventus). She has no memories from before she woke up in L.o.D. Since she has no memories, Eraqus adopts her like shes his own child-- he does so with the others as well, but where they all call him 'Master' Kokoro refers to him as 'Father'.
🪷🪷🪷
During the battle in the Keyblade Graveyard (end of BBS) Vanitas tricks her into separating from the other three. He knocked her out, in the hope of keeping her from getting hurt in the battle, and left her somewhere safe. When she woke up, she couldn't find a single trace of her family. She spent two years traveling from World to World to try and find a clue about what happened to them, but without any luck.
🪷🪷🪷
In Neverland, two years after the fight in the Keyblade Graveyard, the mermaids told her that they'd seen something out at sea. Using Pixie Dust from Tinkerbell, she followed them. But once they were far away from shore, the mermaids attempted to drowned her because they were jealous of the attention (friendship) she received from Peter. Kokoro tried to fight them off to no avail. Everything went black after swallowing too much water.
🪷🪷🪷
She was surprised to wake up, almost dry and laying by a fire, inside a small cave. The cave was completely surrounded by water in the middle of the sea. Kokoro was unable to swim and had previous trauma from two attempted murders by drowning. Her magic had depleted to an unsafe level for her to attempt to make make more fire or escape the cave.
🪷🪷🪷
She was unaware 10 years had passed in her time stuck in that cave. She was eventually rescued by Peter and Tinkerbell, who were investigating the ghost story that was circling Neverland about the 'Wailing Cave'. Peter tells her about his recent adventure with a boy who had a Keyblade, just like her.
🪷🪷🪷
After being healed by the other fairies, Kokoro sets off to find this mystery boy who was wielding a Keyblade. Landing on Destiny Island, she comes face to face with Kairi. Kairi, who she had met in Radiant Garden years before, was now grown up and no longer just a Princess of Heart, but a Keyblade Wielder as well <- a big surprise to Kokoro.
🪷🪷🪷
Sora and Riku show up and believe Kokoro (still in her Keyblade's armor) is a threat towards Kairi and attack her. Kairi ends up summoning her Keyblade and tells her friends to stand down. Kokoro removes her armor and is properly introduced to them.
🪷🪷🪷
The group goes to see Yen Sid, where Kokoro is reunited with Mickey, who she calls Mister M. Kokoro tells them what she's been through, and Mickey promises to help her find her siblings. Yen Sid decides that it's time for Kokoro, Sora, and Riku to take the Mark of Mastery. Which, she fails because of her inability to hold Darkness within her <- it makes her "unbalanced". After the test, Riku and Mickey go to the Realm of Darkness to look for Aqua. Kokoro wants to help, but Yen Sid refuses to let her since she's pure light - "It would be too dangerous". She gets to help train Kairi and Lea ( she also met a long time ago).
🪷🪷🪷
During the battle between the 7 Lights and the 13 Darkness, Kokoro is finally reunited with her siblings, but at the cost of Vanitas' life. A fact she refuses to accept - she believes he's not really dead, but just hiding somewhere. Her and her siblings are able to say goodbye to Master Eraqus when Xehanort fades. He tells them hes proud of them before fading away with Xehanort.
🪷🪷🪷
Then, when Sora goes missing, the Lights split up to try and find out where he is. Aqua, Terra, and Ventus explore the Realm of Darkness and leave Kokoro in Mickey and Riku's care. Kokoro is devastated at being left behind and losing her siblings again, but no one (except Riku) seems to notice.
🪷🪷🪷
After the final battle, she becomes more argumentative with Aqua and Ventus. She refuses to accept Vanitas' passing, and it causes a lot of tension between them. Kokoro still follows orders and is generally a 'yes man', but her heart has started to feel heavy.
🪷🪷🪷
During her time with Mickey and Riku, Mickey finds a book that had been in Xehanort's possession. Mickey tells Kokoro and Riku that the book is a World where the Villains have won. Mickey also informs them he can't figure out how to get into it. There's a dark aura coming from the book, and Kokoro can hear the cries for help coming from the people who live in that World. Kokoro's fingers trail over the drawing of a coffin, and in the blink of an eye, she's sucked into the World.
Kokoro's in Twisted Wonderland.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kokoro Facts:
She's originally from 'The Age of Fairytales' just like Ventus. And all though neither of them remember it, they were friends way back then too.
She has a very happy-go-lucky personality and is often made fun of for being incognizant.
She is a being of pure light and incapable of holding or manipulating Darkness.
She has a strange ability to be able to hear the secret wishes of another's heart-- she does her best not to use it to pry.
She has a habit of believing what could be considered fairytales and is rather gullible.
She believes what people say at face value.
She loves mushrooms and sweets, and DOESN'T like things that are spicy.
Though she is 13 when the Keyblade Graveyard battle takes place, she is only 15 when she gets reunited with her family (12 years later) - she's also the only one in her family to age at all in the time skip.

Vanitas’ final conversation with Sora and Ventus
I was really interested in taking a look at this since I’ve heard that Vanitas’ conversation was pretty different in Japanese than it was in English. And, upon looking at it, it kind of is. The English version is pretty good, but I feel like it overly simplifies what Vanitas is actually trying to convey. Here’s both versions for comparison.
OFFICIAL TRANSLATION
Sora: Your face...!
Vanitas: I'm the piece of Ventus that was taken away. And you're the piece Ventus needed to be whole again. So...why shouldn't you and I look exactly the same? You define me, Sora, the same way that Ventus does. We are brothers who, together, make a greater whole.
Sora: Then why won't you stand by our side? Instead of with darkness?
Vanitas: Because I AM darkness. And I do stand by your side. I'm the shadow that you cast. How much closer could I be?
(Vanitas smiles)
Sora: But I didn--
Ven: But I didn't ask for this.
(Ven holds out an arm in front of Sora)
Ven: To be sifted apart, nice and neat. We should be free to choose. Not just light..not just darkness. WE decide what we are.
Vanitas: But... Ventus, I DID decide who I am. You see?
Ven: And what you are is darkness?
Vanitas: What I am is darkness.
(The two stare at each other for a moment)
Ven: Okay.
Sora: How is that okay? Vanitas!
(Vanitas dies with a smile on his face)
NIX TRANSLATION:
Sora: Your face—
Vanitas: I’m the missing piece of Ventus. You’re the one who captured Ventus’ heart, so I was able to take your form. I am made from you both, Ventus and Sora. We are brothers who make up for what the other lacks.
Sora: If that’s what you think, then why are you fighting us!? We should be working together!
Vanitas: This is what I was born for. It’s because I am darkness that you both can exist as light. How am I not working together with you?
(Vanitas smiles)
Sora: But, I—
(Ven holds out an arm in front of Sora)
Ven: But I never asked for that. It was never necessary to split us into light and darkness. I’m me and you’re you, it’s all right to live your life freely.
Vanitas: Freedom… Yeah, I’m living freely like this.
Ven: Is being trapped in the darkness freedom?
Vanitas: It’s how I’ve decided to live.
(The two stare at each other for a moment)
Ven: I understand.
Sora: You…are you really okay with this, Vanitas!?
(Vanitas dies with a smile on his face)
So…yeah, it’s really interesting! You might recall that Vanitas was essentially raised by Xehanort, who adamantly believed that light and darkness needed to be in balance in order for the World to function. I genuinely think that Vanitas ended up believing that, too, probably out of some need to make sense of his own existence.
Vanitas needs to be darkness, he has to be. Because if he isn’t, then Ven or Sora will have to be. Vanitas accepts this because he sees it as the only way that something like him can work together with the other halves of his heart.
Vanitas is less mocking of Ven in KH3, and I feel like he’s come to form a grudging respect for him after Ven killed him in BBS. Darkness is consistently characterized as a force that understands sheer strength and Ven certainly showed Vanitas just how strong he is.
So, I guess this is sort of a long-winded way of saying that Vanitas does kind of care about Sora and Ven but he thinks he has to be darkness because of Universal Balance, so thanks, Xehanort

Things I think would be fun in KH4
Vanitas. Just anything about him really
Moana World simply because I love that movie
I really really do not want marvel in KH so I hope that does not happen. the reason is simply just. I don’t like marvel lol
I think Nomura confirmed that this wouldn’t happen but. I’d still love to see the TWEWY and/or NEO cast!!
I mean come on Quadratum is an alternate “Shibuya” that certain people go to when they die. That’s TWEWY.
Give me Kairi training under Aqua. Let me see it. Let me play as Kairi. Let her talk with Terra, Aqua, and Ventus and have real conversations with them
Terra and Aqua backstories?? Probably not but I still want them
Also want to see if Ventus will remember what happened in UX in KH4
I wanna know what the fuck Yozora’s deal is. This is probably the most likely thing to happen in KH4 on this list
Also who is Stella. Who is she.
I think it would be funny and silly if the Master of Masters revealed his face. Only to reveal that he doesn’t actually have one. He’s got nothing there.
Or alternatively he could be like how Xion used to be where the way he looks depends on who’s looking at him
Speaking of Xion! Give us updates on the sea salt trio and what’s going on in their lives. How do they feel about Sora disappearing.
Same with Riku. What are his feelings
Kairi too
Speaking of Kairi she better come to Quadratum. I can imagine a situation where it has been a few months or something since Riku left and she’s like “I can’t wait for them to come back anymore, I can’t train any longer, I need to go out there and find them both”
I hope that’s what happens at least
Strelitzia as a party member
Sora doing taxes
Sora gets a job at Starbucks
Wouldn’t it be funny if Sora lost all his memories when he came to Quadratum haha
Also uh. Where’s Naminé where did she go. Is she in Radiant Garden? Twilight Town? Destiny Islands? We really don’t know where she is after KH3. I hope we see her in KH4

Quick guide to Time Travel 101 via KH.
YO SUP.
So with this being a popular topic in terms of story relevance and just an overall general note of curiosity. I wanna dive into the many aspects that certain characters used to flow through the river of time in this series. Some go by these particular rules, some are able to break them altogether, while one in particular got deleted for the sheer scale of what he did. (CoughSoraCough.) So I wanna make notes of them here.
I. The Old Man Xehanort Method. (The most rule bound.)
Settled here is the most known method that also holds it’s host of confusion. You can successfully bring your heart back to the past, and essentially hold the means to manipulate your past self. However, it comes a central caveat once the time travel ride is over.
- Naturally you just up and vanish from the point you’ve traveled to.
- Your memories are also snatched as a result.
These caveats are part of the rule of respecting the Immovable Wall, or what I’ll just coin as ‘The Past’ right now. The goal of this time travel isn’t to bring massive alternations to time. Rather, compared to splitting time into multiple branches, it dedicates the task of keeping it in a streamlined fashion while you pluck at threads. So any memories of future knowledge are forbidden when it comes to being retained. The biggest benefit to take from this is to use loopholes to your advantage. What CAN be accomplished for instance is what we see in 3D/KH3. Where Xehanort can bring past versions of himself to the present day to become his henchman. You can also (as Sora shown in Re:Mind) create smaller events as long as they DON’T interfere in what The Past considers important. (Like how they faced and fell the Demon Tide over two (Three when u count Re:Mind) times during that first time. Meanwhile, are able to defeated after the time reset.)
The unknown addition to benefit is also taking whole or fractured hearts he collects into the present time. (Like the successful experiment of using Monster Inc’s world to restore Vanitas’s body.) It comes with the ability of letting Y Xehanort phase in and out to these particular points to explore. (Which I assume is from the No Name-Keyblade. Seeing how it altered his keyblade.) These however, are very lucid and require Replicas to keep them stabilized in the present, they return to their rightful points in the past once they’re destroyed.
So with Young Xehanort at the helm back then with the new abilities burned into his heart, he can complete his orders made by Old Xehanort, but still end up being present for the line of required life that’s cemented in order to become the old man. In the KH mythos from how they’re building it, there’s particular rules/protections granted so people who can Time Travel can’t create those sinister means of just wiping you out of existence while you’re a baby, and in turn, branching all these different lines of existence.
tl;dr: Time manipulation with this method can be used mainly to bring the past to the present for a momentary amount of time (In order to have his 7/13 requirement in terms of strong hearts for the Keyblade War.) Particular alterations in the past can be achieved.
Also in terms of limitation. Xehanort can only travel from the point he was born until his most recent day. Nothing beyond.
II. The Master of Masters method.
Imagine the means of what Xehanort used except on a much, much larger scale. The Master’s method doesn’t play on the idea that you need a body at that particular point. Rather, your heart can freely travel and as long as you meet the requirements of having a being that exists that has clear and concise memories of your. (Luxu in this case), and the Medium, in short, just a fragment of your body or an article or trinket you’re well known for. (Like the No Name Keyblade or Brain’s hat), you can literally reform out of pure energy. Maleficent showed this best during her revival in KH2! (She’s a case of jumping from Future to the Past to the Future again. You’re allowed to keep your memories in your mind this way. Compared jumping from the Past to the Future to the Past again. ‘The Past’ will negate that knowledge unless you just stay in the future.)
In comparison to Xehanort’s method, this has a lot more freedom of being a prime witness to the events at hand. There’s no need to worry about having a body at the time, and there’s an incredible scale of freedom as in they can actively exist and insert themselves in a certain point of time as they see fit from Point A to Point B.  Their memories are able to be perfectly retained (as the MoM showed, and also Brain at the end of Union X when the processes go right), BUT, depending on where they’re active within time, they still have to play by the similar rule. Unless it’s the most present day in time, only small nudge and pushes in terms of events can be made within The Past.
Consider the more advanced version of the Xehanort method in this context. With Luxu being his Waypoint throughout the river of time, instead of a certain point, the Master can hop back and forth with incredible ease within time. From all the way back to that day in Daybreak Time when he sent Luxu off, all the way to KH4. This is easily hundreds of years.
Many, many years where a wise mind can tinker and tune many unknown events to spawn within the present without anyone’s knowledge.
III. Misusing the Power of Waking. (You’re honestly just boned at this point.)
Through the power of this particular ability and collecting Hearts by the wrong means, the power becomes grand enough to genuinely create miracles, that is, at the cost of damaging time itself. Which Sora did shown by this glossary article here.
Tumblr media
Now granted, this may come to be within the future titles, but due to the overall lack of knowledge I can’t really extend any sayings on how this works. Though the result is proof of what this very concept does. You can succeed in cracking and shattering the ‘The Past’ for a interval long enough to where you can create an entirely new future. It comes to show how this very power can be extremely dangerous in the wrong hands.
At the same time, it’s why the price of actually performing such an action will make the Great Rules of this multiverse literally delete you out of existence as a form of punishment, stripping you of this same power that allows you freely cross between realities.
Hope this helps u out a lil bit. Feel free to ask any questions on more specifics you may have.

the other side of the mirror pt1
@hallowed-nebulae
I stare into the eyes of another me. Another Ruse.
...how? This shouldn’t be possible, should it? I’m certainly no canon character, not canon enough besides the body I’ve possessed for myself. Not enough to fracture out into different versions of myself.
Yet. Somehow. There’s another Ruse. If her name is even Ruse, or if she’s even a ‘she.’ But if she’s me, we would share that much. Wouldn’t we?
There’s other people to see, what looks like another Riku with wings. A Dream Eater Riku, most likely. Maybe one that screwed up with handling Sora’s dreams in DDD, why else would he be here? Also, just crowds of people around us. Some familiar, some not. Most I could probably name, if you gave a moment. And maybe a few reminders. Just one or two.
But none of that is nearly so mind boggling as another Ruse.
"Riku! Why is there another me!"
And it seems this ‘other me’ agrees.
That Riku yawns. Looking pretty tired, his tail lashes at the ground. His wings flutter as he blinks open red eyes. Nightmare eyes.
"Every world has similar worlds to it. Every worldline has another worldline similar to it. There's many Rikus, so it makes sense that there would be more than one Ruse, right?"
But wouldn’t that be really rare? Especially if I don’t exist in a wider canon?
“But Riiikuuu,” she draws out. "Wasn't the whole thing about my worldline the fact that me existing is one of those really rare events?"
Same thoughts that I just had, pretty much. I trace along my face scars, careful not to dig in too deep. It’s kind of scary? Creepy? I don’t know the right words for seeing someone else do exactly what I would do with the Riku I know but being someone else at the same time.
We’re not the same, even if we were the same person once. It’s like with Harper, the bones that I came from. Our paths have clearly diverged if she’s hanging out in the Mirage Arena still where I am not.
(Is...Naminé still with her? Is Rook? Has some version of me not ruined everything?)
"What, like Ven being Ven and not some other Ventus?" Vanitas speaks up. He seems very comfortable with other Ruse, sliding up to her. Like a friend.
“Hey idiot,” she greets him. Her hands are on her hips as she looks him up and down. Focusing more specifically on his leg. "Have you decided if you wanna get Rinoa to heal your leg yet?"
Vanitas hums and smirks. All snarky. "Nah. I'll pass. Scars mean I lived, right?"
Well. He’s not wrong. I fight the temptation to touch my own scars again.
She scoffs. Almost laughs as she shakes her head at him. “You didn't live, you just got your leg ripped off 'cause I had you trapped and you didn't want to admit you were going to lose."
I know Kairi and Xion are busy being horrified by this. I know this. I turn my head, swallow the bile itching at my throat. They’re horrified by this, and they would be horrified by me because I would do the same. I would laugh too, have laughed about something just like this.
At least...Xehanort gets it. His hand is on my shoulder. Warm. Comforting. More than it should be, from someone like him.
Wait...she said something about ripping off Vanitas’ leg. Vanitas...said something about a friend I would like? Like this person who ripped off his leg? Which must mean-
Those jerks! They were totally messing with me! ...I have to admit, that is kind of funny. Thinking about it. Just a little.
But I’m more interested in staring at my doppelganger, as she stares back.
She flexes her hands by her side. I want to do the same. I don’t. One of us has to keep to reason here, seem unaffected by this...this...whatever.
The movement in her hands transforms into a loud clap. I almost flinch. I don’t.
"So! Why are all of you here, anyways? Didn't come for a fight, right?"
Not that I’m aware of. Pretty sure Vanitas wouldn’t mind, it seems raring to go even after the revelation of its near loss of its leg. Kind of makes sense? Vanitas isn’t one to calm down about a fight, whether this version or the version that showed up in the games. Not in real life, not like this.
The Chirthy of the other Xehanort quickly steps in with a head shake and words of their own. "No fights! Not immediately, at least."
She nods, taking that in. The entire group kind of shifts back and forth, instead of saying anything. C’mon, aren’t we here for a reason? I’m about to say something, when my alternate speaks first. Just as impatient as myself.
(Some things never change, huh?)
“So...?” She asks, leaving the words dangling. Waiting for us to fill it in, to give up the facts. A familiar tactic. But not one that lasts long, the other Ruse growing impatient enough to ask more as she bounces up and down on her feet.
"What are you looking for? I'm not in a fight any time soon because Rinoa says I'm not allowed--"
"-- Because you tripped out of the layer last time you were in a fight, I am not putting you and Will in the regular arenas ever again,” the Riku-looking Nightmare inserts dryly.
Will? I pull my attention to focusing on the other Ruse again, putting whatever that is away for later. Because it couldn’t be the Lingering Will, could it?
"-- so I have the free time to help!" She announces with hands on her hips and a soft smile. A Naminé kind of smile, the one she would always use on me to convince me to talk.
My fingers do dig into my face at that. Can’t help it.
Only the flash of another person moving towards us stops me before I burrow in any deeper with sharp nails.
That’s...that’s another Riku Replica. Some part of me just knows, the rest of me recognizes him from the brief encounters I had with myself before...before I lost him.
Rook. Rook, Rook, Rook. Oh Rook.
"Rook! Hey Rook! I'm over here!" She waves frantically to him, calling him over in excitement.
He hurries over in response and I...I...
As the other Ruse explains to him everything about what she knows right now, what’s going with us visitors, I...I look away. I have to. Because if I don’t move away now, I’ll never take my eyes off Rook. Not my Rook, never my Rook,
“Ruse...” Xion whispers. She tugs at my wrist. “Are you okay?”
I force a smile on my face. The same soft smile that went on a mirror of my face. “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me, we just need to get home. Right?”
She eyes me critically but slowly nods. “If you say so.”
Man, Xion is totally going to talk with me later. Capital T-Talk kind of talk. Annoying, who’s the big sister here? I help her, not the other way around.
I move closer to Xehanort, out of Xion’s reach. The Xehanort that I know, watching everything in his distracted observer fashion. Completely ignoring how uncomfortable he seems to be making everyone in the process, especially the other Xehanort.
Everyone but me and the other Ruse, who is really focused on whatever she’s talking about. Guess all Ruses don’t get bothered by Xehanorts, huh? Weird thought.
"That one's disaster parents." Vanitas says, jabbing a thumb in the direction of his Xehanort.
Wait, they’re talking about something else? What did I miss? And hey, my Xehanort’s looking a little surprised by the revelation that his alternate has parents, peering carefully at the individual in question. Since he’s looking a tiny bit surprised, he must be really surprised. Honestly!
Crazy to think, such a huge difference.
The other Xehanort glares at Vanitas as he speaks up to clarify to the interested party.
"We're looking for Sephiroth. We were doing a medical checkup for Ven and Vanitas, but then we realized we don't really know how mako works, so we're hoping Sephiroth can help us, since he's. . .  y'know. . ."
Huh, that makes sense. If this Sephiroth has a background with Hojo (fuck that dude), of course he would know mako science stuff. Enough to function, at least.
But Sephiroth? Most likely not actually related, though I’ll keep the possibility in mind that somewhere, somewhen, a Sephiroth helped give birth to a Xehanort. Weird as that may be...
I lean over to whisper in Xeha’s ear. “Probably adopted.”
His shoulders relax, though I’m the only one who could and would notice such a response. He gives me the shortest nod possible. To avoid notice, of course. He hates anyone catching onto possible weakness.
"I can probably find him," the other Riku says. The Nightmare one. Judging by how nearly everyone else kind of jumps, they forgot he was there. I didn’t. I can’t forget a Nightmare so close, the feel of that heavy Darkness and the gleam of red eyes.
(My mouth waters. I’m so hungry.)
Shake my head. Ignore. Don’t eat people, don’t eat people...honestly, if I was a proper Replica or person or whatever, I wouldn’t be thinking about eating people in the first place.
It’s the worst, isn’t it?
Turning my attention to my surroundings always serves as the best distraction, so I decide to do that. Careful to keep close to everyone else, careful to keep an eye out.
So very different from the Arena I wandered. But that only makes sense, right? Dreams of different universes would be different from what I know, making this Dream-built place different too. Also, I have a strong feeling that a Nightmare that isn’t Ultimecia runs this Arena. No version of me would linger with a Nightmare like that around, threatening to feed me to people. The other Ruse seems to know where she’s going, yet she relies on the other Xehanort for most of her directions. As bad as I am, then. What a weird thought. Again, more similarities than differences between us.
Would this be more comfortable, if there were more differences? Like between the Xehanort I know and the Xehanort of here that apparently isn’t an orphan?
(I...don’t know. What can I say?)
She rushes up after a...Cloud? From FF7? I think so, at least. Probably. After a lot of time in the crowd. The other Xehanort sighs but doesn’t bother holding her back. Because no one can hold a Ruse back. Ever.
Well. We’ll see where this takes us. Because I don’t have a plan.
(I never do.)

Battling Vanitas for the first time as Ventus. Other assorted BBS thoughts below.
Alright, based off the intro sequence with Ventus' messed up heart where Ventus connected his heart with someone else's, the fact that Vanitas is established as an alter-ego of Ventus' (if we can believe Xehanort at all, which, after finishing the Terra route where he manipulates and manslaughters his whole way through, eh), the fact that Sora's VA also voiced Vanitas (I didn't recognize his voice at all! I'm impressed!)- to which I first debated inwardly if it was plot-relevant or coincidental, but now... noticing how Ventus and Vanitas both do the "See ya!" Sora would always do after fire spells... I can't help but think the casting was deliberate in some way. Maybe Ventus connects with Sora's heart in the intro, which would influence older Sora to do his little "See ya!" as well when he does fire spells, and would also explain why on earth Roxas looks like Ventus- something that has been bugging me the entire time. If that happens in the past though... the ramifications of what that would mean on his identity, Sora fusing his "new heart" (that "I'm a new heart line" is particularly one that's stuck with me in regards to this theory) as stated in the intro with Ventus' from such a young age... I don't know, I just find it interesting. How much of Sora would be Sora, and how much of Sora would be Ventus? I definitely see the similarities between them, but hm... if the story decides to go in that direction, I wouldn't be too surprised, given how much it likes exploring messy and enmeshed identity. I'd additionally feel more sad for Roxas as a character, because damn not even your face is yours, bestie.
P.S. I'm very impressed with how Roxas'/Ventus' VA so effectively and immediately demonstrated two very different personalities with the same voice, yet different tones.
P.P.S. I have to get it out of my system: The Destiny Islands section that took me off-guard during Terra's story has been haunting my brain. I figured we might see younger Sora and Riku at some point in the story, given their brief appearance at the end of the intro movie, but I had admittedly kind of forgotten about them until that scene. And WOW, Riku emitted more light than multiple Princesses of Heart?? You're kidding me, right? Was this only not noticable when he was older because he was shrouded in the darkness of teenage angst, has he lost this quality, or some other reason? I was wondering if it was just a childlike innocence thing, but Terra didn't really even seem to care or particularly notice Sora, so alright. The silver-haired kiddo is quickly ascending into Chosen One status, as per the narrative (I'll need to verify with tiny Kairi's heart, to be sure. This is a threat, SE. If I don't see a tiny Kairi happy and healthy in Radiant Garden before its destruction, I'll go bonkers). That was sort of touched upon in KH1 with Riku being the "rightful wielder" of the Keyblade- but I now question how much of that was influenced by Terra sort of anointing him spontaneously, and how much of that was Riku just being some wonder kid from the get-go. It would definitely explain his long-standing desire to go to other worlds and... apparently just a strong intuition at their existence from a very young age, outside of just childlike imagination (and he doesn't seem particularly whimsical as a child, moreso a very solemn one that I could imagine being reluctant to play around other kids at group times- y'know, the articulate but shy types where you have to help them warm up to others. It's really highlighting how unnatural and forced Riku's KH1 tough-guy act was, seeing him as he is in the present, and as a small child. It seems that innately, while doing some competitive talk on occasion, Riku's much more gentle and thoughtful in demeanor than he'd like to let on, sometimes.). I'm also very intrigued by little Riku's knowledge of 'some kid' that left the Islands before. How did he come across that information, I wonder? And the fact that Terra caught a glimpse of Xehanort and older Riku in what seemed like a brief prophetic instinct for some reason in that moment makes me assume that Xehanort was a Destiny Islands' native himself, then, which would, of course, make him that 'kid' that little Riku mentioned. Although it was established in KH1 that Xehanort saw himself in Riku's desire towards freedom, it's really becoming interesting just how linked the two seem to be. Xehanort's unwillingness to fully relinquish his hold upon Riku as a vessel or person of influence might run deeper than simply "muaha, I am evil villain."
And I couldn't help but clutch my heart at the "to protect the things that matter, y'know, like my friends!" On top of him letting Sora win the race across the dock. He really was such a sweetheart to Sora, from the very beginning. It's such a shame that Riku ended up isolating himself so much from him with age; you can clearly see Riku thought the world of him from day one. I don't mean to sound too much like a doting grandmother- but what a sweet kid. He should probably know better than to take Keyblades from strangers, though. (I laughed at how Sora seemed to notice Terra and just go "ooo-kay, moving on." At least some kids know stranger-danger, lol!) I wonder if either of them remember Terra, present day? Probably not, haha.
Okay, that's nearly everything out of my system so far. I've not gotten too invested in the overall story so far, admittedly. I mainly attribute this to most of the dialogue feeling pretty clunky. I know I've poked fun at occasional cheesy lines across the games, but Birth By Sleep especially seems... eh. I'm also spoiled after jumping here directly after finishing 358/2 Days, which had some lovely dialogue, in my honest opinion. Gameplay is awesome, though! I've decided to try to explore different combat styles with each character to really get the full effect. Physical/Earth centric stuff is what I decided for Terra, of course, and I'm trying more status-affecting and Thunder/Wind stuff for Ventus. Hehe, I like theming them. (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
Oh, but they're all going to have Break Time, of course. I found that during Terra's run, and I must see what the others do. My new favorite skill, lol.
Anyway... back to getting my butt beaten by Vanitas in all of his mysterious totally-not-linked-to-Sora glory... at least I've got Mickey Mouse now (Oh, and don't get me started how he wields the key Sora used for duel wielding in KH2, as opposed to the one he's had in the other games).
EDIT: HOLD THE FUCKIN PHONE, I *KNOW* I JUST HEARD AN EDGIFIED MOTIF OF SORA'S THEME IN VANITAS' COMBAT THEME JUST NOW.

An Eye For an Eye, a Leg For a Leg
A Shot In The Heart Doesn’t Make It Unbreak
Kingdom Hearts
Ventus x Seeker of Darkness!reader
Whatever happened to the young, young lovers? One got shot and the other got lost in drugs and punks and blood on the street, blood on her knees, bloody history.
With Terra no where to be seen, Aqua lost in the Realm of Darkness, and Ventus asleep, Y/N has fallen into darkness, joining the Real Organization XIII.
Warnings: angst (happy ending), age complications, villain!reader (reforms), sappy
(Y/N) hadn’t seen her friends in over a decade at this point. She felt so disconnected at this point that she had lost the ability to use her keyblade. She just wonders the worlds, just minding her time until the inevitable end.
The VII and The XIII are all at the Keyblade Graveyard at this point. Xehanort had the 7 light shards and he now just needed the 13 shards of darkness.
Ventus and Aqua had rested up from their fight with Vanitas and Terra-Xehanort. Both of them and Terra we’re making their way thought the maze to find Sora, but were stopped by another Organization member blocking their way. Their hood was up, so the group couldn’t see their face.
“Let us go!” Aqua shouted at the figure. Said figure walked closer, giving the group a better look at them and their weapon. It was Terra’s Keyblade that he made and passed down to Ventus. Dark magic might have surrounded it, but it was the same exact keyblade.
“What are you doing with that?!” Terra demanded to know. “Only my friends are allowed to touch that!” The cloaked figure practically zoomed until they were behind Terra and Aqua, knocking them out cold with one keyblade swing.
Venture watches as his friends lay unconscious on the ground. He summons his own keyblade before charging at the figure. The two swung their weapons at each other. The two clanked against each other as the hood fell off, allowing Ventus to see who he was fighting.
It was (Y/N). A little older, but still her…
At one point, she was found by Young Xehanort, who gave her a place in his Organization. He had gave her a wooden keyblade infused with his own powers to help her fight, the same keyblade she was using right now.
Ventus gasps, recognizing her. “(Y/N)? Why are helping Xehanort?” He jumps away from her as she swings again. “Helping Xehanort?” She scoffs, “I am Xehanort.” He looks into her eyes, seeing the yellow in place of the normal (eye color). Ventus was blinded by a rage. Xehanort had went to far this time.
“Then I will have to get you out!” Ventus yells as the two were thrown into a battle…
After a while of fighting, Ventus and (Y/N)-Xehanort were exhausted. A heartless shows up and phases into (Y/N)’s body, kicking out that part of Xehanort. (Y/N) collapses onto the ground.
Ventus crawls over to her, pulling her into his arms. He notices a (favorite color) Wayfinder hanging from around her neck. He gently hold it in one hand as his other arm gently held her close.
Aqua and Terra had finally woken up and looked over to Ventus. They look down, seeing (Y/N) unconscious in his arms. She coughs, waking up. The four were enveloped in each other’s embrace, crying with each other. (Y/N) smiles for the first time in a decade. Her original keyblade appears in her hand, but with subtle accents of orange, blue, green, and (favorite color).
She earned it…
Extra:
Back at Yen Sid’s place, (Y/N) had an abnormal request. “It’s very difficult to change someone’s age, (Y/N).” She walks up closer to his desk. “Please, Master Yen Sid. I’m 25 and Ventus has been 15 for the longest. I just want our ages to match up so we can still be together.” (Y/N) tried pleading her case to the wizard.
He stands up from his desk, walking over to (Y/N). “I may not be able to age Ventus, but I can bring you back to his age.” He gently places a hand to her shoulder. “I just want things back to the way they were. Back when me and Ven…” she trailed off, but Yen Sid understood what she wanted. “Ah, love. It complicated, young (Y/N), but I’ll help you.”
Ventus watches as a portal opened up in the sky above. He sees (Y/N) flying out from it, down to The Land of Departure. He rushes out of his room. “Aqua! Terra!” He runs through the halls, trying to get their attention. “(Y/N)’s back!!” The three knew she left to see Yen Sid, but they didn’t know what for.
The three made it outside of the castle just as (Y/N) landed. Her armor and craft disappeared, leaving a 15 year old (Y/N). She softly smiles at the group as Ventus ran up to hug her. It was all back the way it was.
