oh yeah and! And teams!

Ricky has his Espeon, and later catches a Minior as well

Noel has his Shiny Ninetales, and that’s all he really needs

Mischa has Luxio (who eventually evolves and he does catch) and a Lycanroc who BEGGED to be caught as a Rockruff

Penny has a Shuppet/Bannette, a Mimikyu, and a Wooloo (because Penny LAMB)

Ocean has a team of four—Infernape, Vaporeon, Nidoqueen, and Dragonair

And Constance has Slurpuff, Vannilux, Altaria, and an INSANELY strong Alolomola.

Excellent username! Alolomola is one of the most underrated Pokémon to be honest, and I’m glad to see Alolomola-appreciation!

Thanks! Alomomola is not actually my favorite pokemon but I do love it a lot. And the fact that it's is hard to spell makes for a funny username!

In all seriousness, though, you may not believe me when I say this but i legitimately don’t have a least favourite Pokémon. Like at all. Sure there are some who I think look better than others, and some can be a drag if their stats and moves aren’t good. And yeah sure every once in a blue moon I’ll make an ironic “ew this pokeyman sux!!!!11!!” statement to try and fit in with the Edgy Pokémon fan™️ crowd

but......... when I think about the emount of time and effort that goes into creating lore and backstories for each and every single Pokémon, i just find myself being impressed at the end of the day, at least from a creative standpoint. Trubbish and Garbodor, for example, take a literal pile of trash and turn it into two interestingly designed monsters-with the knot and trash fluff stylized to look like rabbit ears-in reference to dust bunnies (plus they have awesome cries, to boot!). Even ‘mons that I think are a bit over-designed (e.g. legendaries and recent dragon types) or overrated (literally every Fire type starter), I have the courtesy of researching their origins, and often end up learning to appeaciate, or at the very least, tolerate some of the ‘mons I’m not so crazy about. I understand disliking a Pokémon’s look or usefulness-or lack thereof-in battle, but I fail to see why some get so worked up about it.

So I guess the tldr is I don’t have any personal grudge against any of the 807 pokémon. I think they’re all cool in their own little way and if you catch me shitting on one, I’m either doing so ironically or in a particularly bad mood on that day. Sometimes it takes the passionate word of another fan to help me see the light again.

You know what it’s time to do? The Hoenn League!

After some Blissey base grinding, and also an undocumented visit to Sea Mauville:

Alrighty. Let’s do this!

God, the exteriors of the buildings are incredibly gorgeous.

First up, Sidney. Alrighty, Chickie, time to shine!

Elite Four Sidney

Mightyena, level 50. Mega-boosted Brick Break OHKO!

Shiftry, level 50. Flame Charge, Chickie tanks an Extrasensory, Full Restore, another Flame Charge down to reds, ANOTHER Full Restore, another Flame Charge, crit, and it’s down!

Absol, level 52. Brick Break OHKO!

Sharpedo, level 50. Switch to Oli, Discharge OHKO!

Cacturne, level 50. Back to Chickie, Brick Break OHKO!

One down, four to go. Onwards to Phoebe, Snowdrop to the front!

Elite Four Phoebe

Dusclops, level 51. Crunch OHKO!

Sableye, level 51. Takes some damage from Fake Out, Ice Fang down to half, Snowdrop tanks a Power Gem, another Ice Fang takes it down!

Dusknoir, level 53. Crunch OHKO!

Banette, level 51. Crunch OHKO!

Another Banette, level 51. Crunch OHKO!

Good pupper.

Lots of snow. Chickie back to the front!

Elite Four Glacia

Glalie, level 52. Mega-boosted Blaze Kick OHKO!

Walrein, level 54. They are weak to Fighting, but Chickie is also weak to Water, so let’s get Oli in to be safe. Discharge OHKO!

Froslass, level 52. UGH Confuse Ray. You know what, fine. Snowdrop to the front! Ominous Wind doesn’t do much, Crunch OHKO!

Another Froslass, level 52. Crunch OHKO!

Another Glalie, level 52. Back to Chickie to finish it off. It uses Protect, Blaze Kick OHKO!

Time for the trickiest of the E4 for this run! Don't have any actual Ice, Dragon, or Fairy-types. Gonna go between Snowball's Ice Fang and Sage's Dazzling Gleam, although they're not STAB. Sage to the front!

Elite Four Drake

Altaria, level 53. Dazzling Gleam down to half, it uses Cotton Guard. Another and it’s - oh no, a sliver left. Sage tanks Dragon Pulse like a goddamn champ, Drake uses a Full Restore. Dazzling Gleam down to half, then another, which crits and takes it down!

Kingdra, level 53. This is the most risky - Ice isn’t SE, but Sage is weak to Water. Dazzling Gleam down to yellows, it uses Yawn you DICK, but it’s down with another Dazzling Gleam!

Salamence, level 55. Sage is fucking asleep, so in comes Snowdrop! Ice Fang OHKO!

Flygon, level 53. Ice Fang OHKO!

Flygon again, level 53 again. Ice Fang OHKOs again!

*cracks knuckles*

Whatever happens, they did good.

Champion Steven

Skarmory, level 57. Oli gets it down to 1HP with Discharge. It sends out Spikes. Steven uses a Full Restore. Another Discharge back down to 1HP, and it’s paralysed! A third Discharge, and it’s down!

Aggron, level 57. Sage gets it down to 1HP with Earth Power. Didn’t see what they got hit with, but either way it didn’t do much damage. Another Earth Power, and it’s down!

Armaldo, level 57. Edel gets it down to yellows with Steel Wing. Rock Blast does a small amount of damage, another Steel Wing finishes it!

Cradily, level 57. Edel stays in, gets it down to yellows with Steel Wing. Ancient Power gets Edel down to yellows, another Steel Wing finishes it!

Claydol, level 57. Sequoia OHKOs it with Waterfall!

Finally, Metagross, level 59. Chickie is weak to Zen Headbutt, so... Snowdrop, go! My strongest Pokemon, my first caught Pokemon, my oldest companion other than Chickie. Crunch down to yellows, GIGA IMPACT JEEZ - just down to yellows, she’s okay. Another Crunch and it’s DOWN!

This is just a curious question for both Lang and Beta. Since I've been checking up on Lang's personal tumblr (Lang Writes) every now and then, I was wondering what Sun and Moon pokemon was your favorites. And if it's alright, what Gen 7 pokemon would you see Kei and the other CYB cast having? Thanks again!

Beta: That owl pokemon. I haven’t kept up with Pokemon since Ruby and Sapphire came out the first time, on the Game Boy Advance. (I was kind of lost trying to find the waterfall to get to the elite four and then my brother borrowed my cartridge for trading purposes and he erased my file, and it shattered my interest in the game.)

My favorites otherwise are Oddish and Poliwag (and Politoed but not the other evolutions) Vulpix and Eevee. I also liked Ditto and Dratini (and the whole evolution line). Chikorita, Sudowoodo, Bellsprout, Zigzagoon, Aerodactyl, Charmander… basically all the cute pokemon. Also Gyarados because everyone loves Gyarados. Gastly and Lanturn and Chinchou…. And I’m not sure I can recall anymore.

Although Kei totally needs a Shellder and then Cloyster because that was my mental image for Isobu for the longest time.

Lang: Personally, I share Beta’s love of Rowlet, but I quite like Popplio’s entire evolutionary line. It learns Moonblast! Other than that, I like Midday Lycanroc, Salandit and Salazzle, Alolan versions of pretty much everything, Bounsweet’s line, and all of the Tapus even if they’re ridiculously hard to catch because they don’t spawn in caves. That’s all I can think of right off the bat, but I’m sure there are more.

I’ve answered a few other Pokemon asks, but not since Sun and Moon were released. Using my vast knowledge acquired from totally failing to complete the Pokedex before Pokemon Bank got updated…

Kei: Rowlet, Mimikyu, Rockruff, Turtonator, Wishiwashi (I named mine Heart Eyes), Mudsdale, and Jangmo-o.

Kakashi: Lycanroc (Midday), Alolan Raichu, Kommo-o, and Silvally.

Obito: Incineroar, Drampa, Alolan Marowak, Passimian, Komala, and Golisopod.

Rin: Primarina, Comfey, Alolomola, Bounsweet → Tsareena, Sensu-style Orocorio, and Stufful.

Yamato: Alolan Exeggutor and Trevenant and Phantump. :p
