#happiness diary #happiness diary: march 2024 #oooo birth by artms is really good #im happy tgey got an actual illustrator for the mv too cus i was unsure for a but #but saw the illustrator being credited so alls good #i love the vibe it feels horror in a different way from the other horror groups like dreamcatcher and purple kiss #its most similar to red velvet but even then its quite different #also haseul!!!!!!!#she sounds so good!! they all do but im biased towards haseul #i feel like the mix of deeper and more textured? from heejin amd jinsoul and the clearer higher voices of the others #really made everyone stand out #like choerry at the end kim lip at the start every haseul line heejin and jinsoul with their respective chorus lines #im really excited for the album now lile i was excited before but now im just vibrating from excitement #also loosemble are coming soon too #i just love loona theeyre the perfect group they literally dont have a song i dislike #i think dance on my own is my least favourite but like its still a great song and i gladly listen to and enjoy #and the post loona stuff has kept this up somehow #im really excited to see what yves is preparing cus shes the only one whos not released anything yet #dunno loona makes me happy all 12 of them are great #anyway enough rambling about loona #i dont feel good and am quite tired so gonna sleep night!#also didn't have internet yesterday which is why i didnt post but it was a chill day and i had sweet potato

the loona situation

there are some things that i think need to be said in the wake of the dispatch chuu article, and that i haven't seen anyone else directly address.

tldr for those who didnt see: loona had a system with blockberry where they shared costs equally, but revenue 70-30 in bbc's favor. this means that if the cost was $100, and the revenue was $100, loona and bbc each paid $50, but bbc earned $70 and loona earned $30, so loona went $20 more in debt to bbc despite the project recouping all of its expenses. these numbers only get worse the higher the cost/revenue ratio is. loona even pays bbc if there is zero revenue, because they get loona's portion of the cost.

functionally, this means that loona stays in debt. forever. according to bbc's numbers, the loona members - even after all of loona's successes and the fact that it makes a net gain now - are all still around $150,000 in debt to the company after 5 years. this is in addition to the other abuses standard to the idol industry, like starvation and mental abuse.

what i want to talk about is this: a series of facts.

1. many of the girls' families were concerned about the promises bbc made to their trainees and thought loona was a scam at best and a trafficking scheme at worst.

2. yves was promised debut within weeks of joining bbc. olivia hye trained for one day. loona 1/3 was flown all over the world for teeny tiny teaser videos. all of this was pre-debut. many of them talk about it seeming too good to be true.

3. go won and olivia hye have admitted they were already starstruck by older members of loona like heejin before even considering joining bbc. they saw their ads at the bus stop on the way to school. they wanted badly to be friends with them.

4. all contracts are individual. any revenue from one girl was given solely to her and applied solely to her own debt.

4a. chuu is the only member who's escaped her trainee debt. her revenue was not applied to anyone else's debts.

6. when a member is in debt to the company at the end of her contract, she can be compelled to renew to pay it back.

7. loona had the most expensive predebut in kpop history.

8. of the 12 members, only haseul, vivi, jinsoul, and yves were over south korea's age of majority — 19 in international age — when they debuted.

8a. of these 4, only vivi, jinsoul, and yves were 20. haseul had turned 19 less than four months ago. 9. kim lip was 18 when she debuted with 'eclipse.' chuu was 18 when she debuted with 'heart attack.' choerry was 17 when she debuted with 'love cherry motion.' go won was 17 when she debuted with 'one and only.' hyunjin was 16 when she debuted with 'around you.' olivia hye was 16 when she debuted with 'egoist.' heejin was 15 when she debuted with 'vivid.'

9a. yeojin was 14 years old when she debuted with 'kiss later'.

i'm begging at this point.

It’s heartwarming and well overdue that these 5 in particular are getting the chance to finally showcase their vocals in a way they would of never been able to do prior (and we all know why). I love how this debut feels reminiscent of LOONA, but also demonstrates what Loossemble’s identity will be. It was not only a great debut and an incredible music video, but a phenomenal album. Not a single skip. Love these girls down! Love Loossemble, love LOONA and just good ass music.

Finally drawing a Loonaverse The Owl House AU like I've always wanted!

This is just part 1! The other girls will come later.

As someone whose character (probably) represents god, or at the very least a god-like person with some powers related to creation, I put Heejin in the Construction Track. Her palisman is based on the black bunny she was holding in the Cinema Theory teaser.

Seeing as she's the only one who actually turned into her representative animal in the lore, I put Hyunjin in the Beast-keeping track. She's like Eberwolf, a demon witch who also casts beast magic on herself. Her palisman is also from the Cinema Theory teaser.

Since Haseul's solo had a very orchestral vibe, she's in the Bard Track. Though she knows how to play a few instruments, she mostly turns her palisman as a mic when she opts to perform certain spells.

Listened to "Birth" by ARTMS and let me just say, it's a great song! I did not expect such a dark song from them, but it's so cool! The song definitely has that ~ LOONA sound ~. I LOVE their vocals in this (literally angelic) and the mixing has certainly gotten better since Air Force One. The music video is drop dead gorgeous (LOONA Print!!!) and oh, the lore implications. I adore the slighty creepy and very weird vibes of the drawings, it's something I'm really into lately.

I generally love the whole vibe of this and I am very excited for the upcoming pre-release singles and the eventual full comeback.
