I am Ruben, but most people call me Bean, and I also go by Ben - so feel free to use any of those names, I'll respond to them all!

I'm 27, Non-Binary, and I use They/Them pronouns. I've been doing art pretty much all my life, and I do it somewhat professionally. I enjoy all types of art, but my mains are drawing and animation - but don't be surprised if there are some crafts or other medias here and there too!

I am autistic, and have severe social anxiety (among other disabilities), so please be patient with me if I take a while to respond, have an under/overreaction to something, or do not understand something right away! I also tend to forget things a lot, so you can always give me a reminder, if it has been a while - just please do not spam me!

I love getting asks about my characters, and AUs, even if I cannot answer them all - I have many askblogs for more specific characters/settings, which are linked below if you wanna check them out!

Please keep in mind that some of my characters are villainous, aggressive or just plain mean, and any actions or responses may be rude, violent or upsetting! When I respond in character, I am just playing a character, and their actions do not reflect me, and should not be taken personally!

DMs I am more hesitant about bc of the mentioned anxiety, so if you wish to DM me, please have a reason to be doing so - I don't tend to respond to just 'hi', and asking for free art will probably end up in a block. I also do not RP at all, so please do not ask.

I tend to vent a lot! I use art as a form of catharsis and to avoid hurting myself irl, so there might randomly be some upsetting content posted, but I do tag these with 'vent tag', and the appropriate CW tags - please see below for them

My art (and characters) is not for free use! So please do not repost, edit, trace my art, and please do not use it in videos/games, or for AI bots/databases. If you see my art somewhere, that I did not approve of, and regardless if it is credited or not, please let me know!

That being said, if you really want to use my art somewhere, please ask first! Usually the use as an icon, or in a silly meme, is fine - just ask first!

I don't do requests for things I am not interested in, and I probably will not draw your OC for free. I do take suggestions for things I am interested in, and might do the occasional art trade with mutuals/friends. I do also take commissions (but my sheet needs a big update, so prices may change soon).

I switch sonas around a lot! Bean is my main one (in a semi-realistic style and a more cartoonish one), but do not be surprised if I am sometimes depicted as a furry or a monster now and then.

These sonas are also both a representation of me, and characters in my stories. I try to define when I am 'in-character' and 'out-of-character', so please keep this in mind when commenting/asking.

Fanart of my characters and AUs is okay, and always appreciated! Please try to represent the characters(s) the best you can, and ask before doing making significant design changes (such as a 'Genderbend' or 'Species Swap' etc). Again, I am forgetful, so if I do not acknowledge it within a week or so, please give me a nudge!

I don't mind minors following, as most of my stuff is SFW, but please keep in mind that I am an adult, and may upload an occasional suggestive post or joke. These are also tagged as needed.

Interests

I am currently mainly into Pizza Tower, and the OCs I have created for it, so that is mostly what you will see at the moment! - I have currently two AUs I am focused on, mainly the one where it's just my interpretation of the game (no name for this one yet), and then my secondary called 'Cheeseshop AU', with Brick the Rat as the protag, and species are swapped! (So Brick is human, Peppino and Gustavo are rats etc)

I also have a lot of original stories, characters and concepts, and will post those too! I tend to jump from idea to idea and back again, so do not mind if I am talking about one genre in one post, and then it completely changes the next post. (Although most are just slice-o-life with fantasy elements)

Other interests are: FNAF (previous hyperfixation, kinda comes and goes and may have occasional posts here), Bugsnax (also a previous hyperfixation, mainly when the game came out but not so much any more), Pokemon (not a hyperfixation, I just think they're neat), and... That's pretty much it, that I can think of! I don't tend to get into fandoms much, and I just focus on one thing for years haha

I am also not really looking for other things to be interested in, so please do not take it personally if I do not look at or get into anything suggested to me.

writing resources masterlist.

i have to admit. my first reason for doing this was to spite my brain because it wouldn’t write. so, instead, i made this. 

so here. 160+ links. gathered from a million questionable google searches, and some more crawling through mobile chrome tabs for 11 hours. anyways, enjoy!

where to write!

some popular platforms:

google docs is my choice for writing. it’s free, auto saves, you can access your stuff on mobile, pc, tablet, etc., and great for multi person collabs + link sharing. but, you need internet to use it, and for big documents (upwards of 55k words) it takes a while to load on pc, and editing on mobile is damn near impossible. 

scrivener is great too, and has the binder, which is great for organizing stuff. however, the mac version is way, way ahead of the pc in terms of updated versions. i mean, the pc version is still useable. and, it’s pretty expensive at $45 usd. 

microsoft word is really popular, and used pretty much everywhere. there’s templates and you can save documents in different formats, and compatible with other microsoft office programs too. it’s also a bit complicated at the start, but tbh most software is gonna be like that. sort of in the same boat as scrivener, as in, it costs money. usually a subscription, but if you decide to buy it flat out, it’s even more pricy, but def worth it imo. 

other writing platforms:

libreoffice - free

credit to @scribeofred for help with this. she has an amazing writing blog that’s super helpful, so definitely check it out! and she’s a professional editor, so it’s coming from someone who knows what they’re doing. 

writing by hand is great too. some people can focus better that way, or, if you have a drawing tablet, you can write get the feeling of writing, and have it digitally too. 

of course, you could just type into your notes app, or ao3, or a tumblr draft post, but let’s not-

focusing!

spotify, youtube premium, and tidal are all great for listening to music. all of them, except for the free version of spotify, have a subscription. 

but maybe music isn’t your thing! here’s some more stuff: 

rainforme is a rain/thunder player with adjustable volume

coffitivity for café ambience

ambient mixer has a ton of different ambience, and even lets you create your own.

noisli has playlists for different situations and has a built in timer and editor.

asoftmurmur lets you make your own mixes with their own, generally nature-focused sounds. 

tabletopaudio with a focus on fantasy/noir ambience

mynoise has a lot of variety in sounds, including a...black hole

forest is an app/extension that grows a forest, for however long you manage to stay off of blacklisted sites, and dies when you revisit them. good for studying or a distraction-free writing experience (if you’ve got the restraint for it), but if you need resources on hand to write, this might not be good for you. 

moodboards!

wanna make a moodboard? lit! here’s some ways to get your images. 

unsplash (my journalism teacher, out of all the people recommended it to us. regardless, it’s a great way to source copyright free and not-stolen images.)

canva is much the same with no copyright issues, and actually lets you design the board on the site. 

adobe spark is also good and free.

now. pinterest. don’t get me wrong, it’s great for finding images. but it’s full of stolen images and all. so, maybe don’t source your stuff from there.

nat geo has an awesome interactive world map, with options to see a ton more info like population density, animal populations, language diversity, and just a lot of stuff in general for irl maps. 

mapchart is great for irl custom maps.

jot down ideas when you get them! 

don’t force yourself to write, or else you’ll burn out. and that’s never good. 

have snacks and drinks handy if you’re going to be writing for an extended amount of time. even if you’re not, your brain needs fuel to run.

so, drinks like tea and water. snacks that aren’t oily/greasy or crumbly (i mean, do you really want that on your paper or keyboard?), 

and on that note, for god’s sake use the bathroom frequently. 

if you have difficulty concentrating, get something like a fidget cube or something to help. or take a nap.

if you don’t think your writing is good at first, just keep. writing. it’s a skill, and the more you write, the better you’ll get.

beta readers and outside opinions are very helpful. and please, never antagonize them first. 

first drafts are messy! and done > perfect the first time around.

i don’t wanna harp on about the whole “credit ur artists!!” thing but i want to frame this from the perspective of someone who has had this happen to them in the hopes that it fosters a little more understanding. there are a number of artists here in this community and it’s important to us.

i’ve seen folks in this rp community use my proton art before without thinking, and it really sucked. especially so for me as both a writer and an artist here on tumblr, because my art is kind of like a recognisable part of my identity here and it could even go on to a case of mistaken identity if someone thinks that’s me but i changed my url.

like, it’s flattering that someone likes ur art but also at the same time it is super disheartening because they liked it enough to use it (and in some cases edit it to their liking, which is a whole other kettle of fish), but not enough to tell people how awesome they think it is and introduce people to an artist that they might like and go on to commission, follow, support etc.

it’s like you want ppl to support you and your writing/brand but you’re using someone else’s hard work as a visual representation of that.

“oh, i saved the picture years ago but i never knew who drew it.” then stop using it. it’s simple. you’re not entitled to it.

and leaving the credit there in the form of a watermark or signature doesn’t always work. i’ve had mine ignored or cropped out by people who downloaded and reposted it. and like, that’ll happen i guess??? but at least the more good energy and links u put out there, the better chances we have!!! not everyone has enough energy to go and type in a username and trawl through google hoping to find the artist. people are notoriously lazy by nature so pls give us a boost by linking!!

word of mouth means everything for us. we depend on it and literally just linking and preserving our signatures/urls in your about/theme is the least you can do as a courtesy of using it for ur pretty rp blog aesthetic, and it’s so easy!!! 

it’s why some of us get really salty about art reposters (especially japanese artists, since their client base can be even smaller and communicating is difficult for them due to language barriers, PLUS many of them already have no editing/repost warnings on their pages that get ignored bc ppl don’t/can’t read) 

it is a LARGE part of why i’ve fully changed to using only my own art (or linking to things that have been commissioned and paid for/gifted for me specifically, in the case of my current blog icon) 

like, even if it’s not exactly cool, aesthetic or pretty 100% of the time... i know i’m not stepping on any toes.

So, obviously I’ve saved some space for future drawings, and I’m planning on putting some drawings at the sides of my workplace as well (you can’t really see it but it’s there) but I just wanted to say THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!

I could have never imagined how much support I’d get by posting my content here, but you guys surprised me anyway.

This blog (and my presence in social media in general) was made to share my work with the world, but most importantly, to spread positivity.

I’ve never asked for anything in return, yet you guys have given me so much.

And especially if we’re friends (because the majority of these are from friends!!), thank you so much for being here!! Some of these are the REASON we became friends, and I LOVE YOU.

hey, i hope this doesn’t come across as like premature(?) or anything. but i’ve been trying to think of ways to fund going back to college and i feel like taking icon template commissions is a good start!

i’ve been doing rp-centric graphic design for a year or two now, but i feel like my icons are the easiest to do/most accessible?

so uh prices and details under the cut

while my icon templates are pretty easy to get your paws on (they’ll probably take me a week max to make) understand that it still takes time for me to come up with a design and a way to execute that design.

life is hard when i kind of wanna make a triangular icon but i can’t because it cuts out a lot of the face. and god help me if i need to break out illustrator to create my own graphic

as such, my complex designs will cost you about $5 USD. this style features:

graphic(s) framing your icon

non-traditional shapes (like an icon shaped like a bunny head)

your blog url (let me know if this is subject to change!)

texture(s)

borders

unconventional icon sizes

i know a lot of people appreciate more simplistic styles with their icons, so i’m not gonna just make my hexagonal funfests your only option! i’m also willing to supply simplistic icons like these:

while this seems simple, i tend to get pretty crazy even when i’m trying to buckle down so they cost $2 USD.

it features:

1 simple graphic in the corner of your icon (the whip in this example)

geometric shapes (in this example, the icon being a circle instead of a square)

your blog url (let me know if this is subject to change!)

both of these options supply you with a .psd and/or a .rar containing all of the layers as separate, transparent images along with instructions. (image order, layer settings, etc.)

if you’d like me to use filters and effects, (blur, color correction, etc.) they’re .psd exclusive but also come with either the $2 or $5 templates.

if you’re lazy and don’t want to put the templates through the process of saving every individual icon that’s totally fine! i’m willing to batch the first 300 for you for free with your purchase! just supply the 100x100 icons to me! ($5 templates might need bigger icons depending)
