I'm not gonna screenshot it bc 1/it really doesn't matter that much and 2/the person who made the comment is a kid but: a while ago I made a comic that's supposed to be a genuine study and reinterpretation of someone else's sprite comic (made in the spirit of authenticity too - to recreate the vibes of the sprite comics from that era, iirc very specifically because it's funny) and I got a comment on that comic's post that's like "glow up"

which is a compliment obvs. and the commenter probably didn't mean anything by it, it's a common expression. but I've been trying to find a way to gracefully put that comment away ever since it appeared lol

I just very much don't want my art to be taken as trying to one-up someone else's art when that's not the piece's intention. especially when the piece that inspired my art is perceived as "low effort" or "shitpost" or stuff like that. I did mention in the tags of that post that my considering it a study is entirely genuine, and I can legitimately write pages about the cool stuff I find in it other than and inherent in the haha funneys, but that's not for you guys that's for me. I just think that approaching art competition-first like that is a miserable way to do it, and (tipping into overthinking here if the whole tiny-comment-got-stuck-in-my-brain-for-almost-a-month part hasn't given that away yet lol) I really don't want that to be the takeaway from my own art. at least generally. if I actually think the source material is trash and what I'm doing is genuinely categorically better I'd just come out and say it lmao

there was more contrast for sure, and saturation (at least visually). Dan is out of focus or just slightly blurry a lot of the time for some reason. either because of the lighting or the placement of the camera the focus is on Phil, and Dan just exists somewhere nearby. when he leans in he is fine, but the moment he goes back it's over for us :)

every wdapteo is filmed outside the ap room. i think it's intentional by now, hehe. so it's not like i can compare it to the usual ap setup. no white wall behind them and suddenly everything is more vibrant! that's great. definitely better than the editing/gaming room's lighting because it's brighter.

imagine you say 'its a common misconception that 22/7 is equal to pi but its not thats just an approximation thats often used at lower levels" and then someone is like 'ok but i learnt in school that pi is 22/7' and you say yeah it shows up a lot in math problems but when they say pi = 22/7 its just an approximation for ease of calculation and then someone sends you a screenshot of a grade 6 textbook that says pi = 22/7 and youre like, okay so this is one example in one context, and later in the math curriculum they do tell you that pi is irrational, which means it cant be represented as a fraction, so if you use reasoning you can figure out that one of those isnt true and if you double check you can find out that what isnt true is pi = 22/7. and youre getting agitated because people keep coming to you like youre an authority, and you dont have like a phd or anything but you are capable of tutoring math to a certain level, and have done so for a while so you have experience, enough that youre aware that pi is not 22/7, and why people often think it is 22/7. so its beginning to feel a little disrespectful that all these people are like insisting that an easily verifiable fact isnt true because they wont take your word for it, while they are also coming directly to you to tell you that they dont think your reasoning is sound.

One of my favorite things abt sandor's redemption arc is that its entirely self-imposed. HE decides that he's had enough and he's fucking off. He decides that he's going to get better.

However, one of my OTHER favorite things is that Jaime got thrown into his redemption arc against his will. He's stripped of his power, his hand, and dragged through the mud.

And this works because Sandor has lived his life as a servant without much power over himself, and Jaime has lived his life doing (for the most part) whatever the fuck he wants. The first part of a good redemption arc-- or really any big arc-- is breaking a character from what they previously were. Sandor was a dog, and Jaime was a sword.

I could write such a big essay on this shit jfc
