i’ve been following ur writing for some time now and i do have to agree with that anon who said you did CH dirty. you are a very talented writer so it’s just hard to watch.

you started off CH so strong with the lore and little chapters here and there but as it progressed you kind of just got lazy and it shows. when important events happened in the story, they weren’t conveyed through writing but through the texts (ie the riki and yn fight, that was definitely worth a written chapter) and it was honestly disappointing.

the ending isn’t much to say about either. yn and hoon barely go through development after the letter incident and all of a sudden they’re dating and married with a kid like two chapters later?

idk, if it was a mental health issue then i get that but even then you should’ve just gave it a break and thought everything out more. you could do so much better.

i wanna put you through the progess of a piece of writing from the POV of a writer okay? now keep in mind: i work two jobs, am a fulltime uni student and the daughter of an immigrant household with two parents who still work most of the day just so you know what else i have to deal with, besides my mental health okay?

now, i started off CH strong right? yes. i uploaded on the daily, fine i chose that. a chapter usually takes me around one hour if i actually sit down and focus on nothing but the chapter itself, which includes IG stories, editing, formatting etc. alright

on top of the daily chapters, i constantly replied to 40+ asks a day, a blessing in disguise because no matter how much i enjoy talking to you guys, the pressure does get worse the bigger that number of my inbox becomes, i hope this makes sense

now, i started CH back in october, right when my semester started, thats why i started off strong but as time went on, my assignments and private life got too busy and i guess i felt entitled enough as a writer to skip a few certain chaps and make life a little easier for me by making them regular chapters instead of written ones.

and this is gonna be my main point: i'm not a machine. i wrote a minimum of 5 THOUSAND words per written chapter, MINIMUM. we're talking about a 5-9 THOUSANDED worded chapter EACH WEEK. which usually took me about 6-7 hours, even allnighters.

yes, i chose to do that and maybe my time management wasn't the best but i had to create a compromise where i wouldnt have let you guys wait for over two months which would have resulted in me losing my motivation completely, and yet still focusing on EXAMS. because you know, i'm a fulltime uni student with TWO jobs 😮‍💨

if YOU think i did CH dirty go write an alternative ending yourself but it should be a minimum of 15 chapters including 5 written ones, with at LEAST 9k words each yeah? i wanna see you manage it all, pls prove me wrong snd show me you're better than me i'm genuinely begging bc it might inspire me to do "better" next time.

as a writer/artist/creator, and i can tell you probably arent one yourself or havent been one for long, the longer smth takes to come to an end the worse the pressure becomes which results in a blockage i dont wish upon my worst enemy i'm being deadass. i dealt with some of the worst writer's block ive had since i started writing literally 12 years ago and you're telling me i should have just "taken a break" and do "better"

you reach your hands forward and grip his side, shaking it, to make sure he was real

he was, and now he was awake

and honestly kind of annoyed that you woke him up, but his look of bitterness softens just a touch when he sees the tears in your eyes

before he can get a word out you wrap yourself around him, babbling about the nightmare you just had; about how you couldnt find him and when you did, he had abstracted

for once, the rabbit didnt make any snarky comment or say anything that could've made you feel dumb for being scared

Ever since the Selen incident, fans have been attacking each other and the livers. Magically, out of nowhere!! Drama and rumors and shit about the livers start to appear!! Like, you guys were willing to look past it before, now you're latching onto it like it's your last dying breath?

Like the livers' past lives. It's in the past, leave it alone. Okay, some things arent forgiven as easy but now you bring it up to smack them in the face with it. You guys weren't causing such an issue back then. Now when someone comes along, spouting whatever they want, you doubt them almost instantly.

Everyone is like, "why can't they leave? It's so simple to regain all your followers and stuff"

Do you ever think Nijisanji manipulates them into staying? Saying, "you will never get the same amount of followers unless you stay" or bargaining with them. That can totally happen. They mentally abused Selen, it's possible they do it with the other livers too. Maybe theyre too scared to venture out of the company.

That's their job by the way. That's how they get money. Nijisanji practically provided everything to them, so why wouldn't they take that? Benefits. Easy and fun. Everyone is like, "oh, but if i were them, I would NEVERRR". Dude. Money runs the world, I'm sorry to burst your bubble. Sometimes, things like this test your morals and your needs and it's hard to decide. "They have so much money though" that shit runs out QUICK. Bills, taxes, buying food, insurance + car insurance, etc. Maybe they're afraid of losing it all.

That's something they're used to. Imagine, ever since this exploded, you turn your life upside down because of an incident you probably had no clue about. Maybe they did know. We don't know. What if they decide to graduate? A lot of graduates at once? Obviously nijisanji would never, probably squeezing them out one by one. Clinging onto them for dear life. I'm sure the livers feel upset for what happened, but what can they do in particular? Quit the company? I suppose, but like I stated before, it's ot as easy as you guys make it. Maybe they are planning to graduate soon, but too scared of what's happening to do so. Their image is fragile, if someone says something and others believe them, it spreads like a wildfire. Like for example, Scarle. She liked that one comment (probably thought it was funny or she even agreed), it got blown up, and they struck her down immediately. People spread that screenshot, and I'm sure Scarle DID NOT want that in fear of what the company would do, and boom. Nijisanji could also totally plant the worse kinds of shit onto people. They could be lying about anything and everything. Leaving little crumbs for you guys to eat up. What can I say, drama also gets more views, unfortunately.

Okay, this will probably get some backlash. Doki. Listen, I think shes cool, not a huge die hard fan, but her fans? Oh my god they are willing to do ANYTHING. Some of them probably weren't her fans until recently. They hound after everyone and anyone. Maybe that wasn't Doki's intentions, maybe they were, but who the hell knows anymore? I dont know her personally, you dont know her personally, no one knows anyone personally. She seems sweet, directing her anger towards the COMPANY, so why are you directing it to the LIVERS as well? because they said something about the LIVERS bullying her? Why would they even admit that? Seems kinda shady. They wouldnt have never admitted that, unless they had some sort of motive, which they probably did. Nijisanji is the one with the strings, and the livers are their puppets, sadly. (Ahem the explanation video with Vox and Ike and elira and everyone. They purposely made them do it knowing they were the most popular, and hey, what can losing a couple thousand of followers do? they are still one of the top ones, still can get some money out of them! Maybe using them will make OUR image look better! It didnt. Or maybe that wasnt their goal. Who knows?) Its just ever since we found out what happened, I've been keeping my distance from Doki and the other livers as well. Because everything seems skeptical, theres so much to believe and not to believe. There isn't enough information. Doki might be using her followers as an advantage? Taking down the branch (not niji jp as well because they did nothing wrong) also hurts the livers too. Maybe the livers secretly want that to happen. I'm sure some don't, because there goes the money. Everything revolves around money. You can't convince me someone without money isnt happy. I know that seems kinda bullshit, but what can I say?

It just pisses me off how people are so quick to turn against each other and their so called "oshis", only believing one side of the story over the other. And the people who hate or dislike certain livers, are EATING THIS UP. EXPOSE, EXPOSE, EXPOSE! This is like a field day with them, and I'll be damned if they're arent taking total advantage over it. I see you mfs. For example, Luca's ex? She obviously dislikes (probably despises) Luca, and that's why she came out and said what she said. With everything that's happening, everyone doubting each other, she did what she did. Why wouldnt she? All the attention on her, making Luca lose a bit of followers out of spite, making the lucubs turn against each other, maybe some sort of fame for herself. I particularly didn't believe her for a second, because to me she seemed a bit mentally... challenged.

I know Doki is the most "relatable" in a sense, I dont know a specific word for it, like, you guys feel the need to protect her, and willing to do anything. "She almost killed herself, we believe her over anyone else!" Type of attitude. All I'm trying to say is to keep an open mind. That everything might not be what it seems to be.

Would you have done Terror Titans differently?⚔️

i would change pretty much everything about rose's characterization </3 my biggest problem with that book is that her motivations make no sense and arent at all in line with anything about her character and it drives me crazy

it seems like they thought that rose secretly working against him the whole time would be too obvious so they just. didnt. and shes hanging out with clock king and working with him for no real reason. i think it would've been SO much better if, even though its an obvious twist, she was trying to dismantle the tournament from the inside. the story,,, sort of did this???? but not in a way that mattered. it basically waits until the end to say "now rose realizes that this is bad" as if she didnt know what was going on the whole time?????

^ this is not a reveal. she knew exactly what was happening the entire time and she was a part of it. its a discredit to her character to act like she would've been complicit in this at all. honestly even as a "shes doing it for her own motives" thing, she wouldnt do most of what she did. she was fighting brainwashed heroes and training villains and enabling clock king for the whole book just to go "wow nevermind" at the end

fighting brainwashed heroes is probably the worst decision mckeever could've made for her. she KNOWS what its like to be drugged, brainwashed, and forced to fight. and then she lets it happen in this book anyway and actively encourages it. i am strongly on team "rose makes lots of selfish decisions" but this is a line that she would Not cross. yeah she enjoys fighting & would want to enter a tournament like that. but she wouldnt choose to fight people that didnt have any agency in their fight

which makes it feel like a slap in the face when she brings it up in the last issue

surprise! after shes spent the entire book fighting the people that were mind controlled to fight her, she now realizes that its a bad thing. she knew this from the start so this part feels extremely unearned because, again, she knew this from the start. they dont even try to build up to this moment

(everybody strap in; im about to say something nice about williamson's rose for the first time) theres a really good comparison to be made between terror titans and robin 2021. theyre both tournaments that rose is fighting in with ulterior motives, but robin does it sooo much better. she keeps her morals, she helps damian, she kills people because its a tournament that they all agreed to be a part of & the whole point is that the pit will bring them back after they die. in terror titans, shes fighting heroes that dont know what theyre doing and standing back while clock king kills whoever he wants to. everything she did in robin was at least sort of in line with her character & morals, but in this book they have to ignore everything shes done in the past just for it to make sense that shes there

which brings me to the other big issue i have with this book. mckeever had to ignore and roll back so much character growth just for this book to happen

^ this part from tt03 #41 is basically explicitly saying that rose Doesnt Kill. she didnt kill anyone after joining the titans until mckeever took over and pretended that shes secretly been a killer the whole time.

not to mention the arc in tt #43-46 where the WHOLE POINT was that the titans trusted rose and didnt expect her to kill

"even wonder girl's been nice to me" but you wouldnt know it since they ignored that as soon as johns left.

like this dialogue would've made sense when rose first joined the team but to say shes "homicidal and warped beyond words" after rose & cassie had been starting to get along AND rose hadn't killed someone is infuriating, especially since this is followed up with rose trying to kill them and acting like this is what always happens

it almost feels insulting that we have to pretend that she hasnt had all these arcs of her getting closer to the team and Not Killing People just to get this arc that leads into terror titans

anyways all this to say, terror titans relies on us believing that rose wouldnt care about the team's interests, the team doesnt trust her, and that she is fine with killing people. which are all things that were explicitly disproven 10 issues before this.

PLUS she, for some reason, trusts clock king. she doesnt know anything about him and watches him do all these bad things. but we're supposed to believe that she feels a Connection because of their precog

not to mention. she knows exactly what he did to eddie. it would be a stretch to say that she could have a civil conversation with clock king after this, let alone work with him and talk about their Connection

honestly. 90% of my problems with this book would be fixed if she had secretly been working with m'gann the whole time

if the twist had just been "mgann was secretly there, and rose knew and was distracting clock king & the terror titans (and trying to get more intel) while mgann freed everyone" it would have made so much more sense. that way she has a reason to be competing in the tournament and working with them, AND she would be working with the titans & reestablishing the trust that she had

in conclusion this book is bad. but it does have one redeeming quality: the fight between rose and lorena where she chokes her with her thigh while pulling her hair

been thinking about motr again (as is my wont) and i think one of my complaints about it is that i think it's kind of weird that no one is antisemitic??

not that im like. "boo i wish there was more bigotry in the world!!" or smth lmao. it's just that it feels like maybe there was supposed to be some but then they chickened out

like. archie is accused of murdering david, and we know immediately that he didnt do it because he's our friend (and also thats just how stories work.) but i still dont understand why everyone else is so convinced he did it, when they never bother to give him a motive

when I heard the pitch for motr, I had assumed the motive would be bigotry. even if archie himself isnt antisemitic, it would make sense for Harjit or David or anyone who thinks archie did it to at some point go "well the victim was a marginalized person, so we just assume the motive was bigotry" but no one ever says that, even as just. a possibility?? but they ALSO dont have a different, stronger motive for Archie to have done it?? if Archie and David had some sort of enmity, this probably wouldn't be a problem at all, but since they dont have anything, it really feels like the only possible motive would have been prejudice, and yet no one will ever say it, even as a possibility that gets refuted

it just seems really weird to me!! ive posted before about how i understand why FBG writes stuff the way they do (writing period-accurate bigotry isnt like. fun. and also i dont think it would be commercially successful, especially if you want to court an audience of non-bigots) but it just kinda. lacked some verisimilitude for me on this one, especially because they made such a big thing about how much research they were doing and how they were consulting experts so they could write their first explicitly Jewish characters in the universe?? like... did you guys just. forget. why did you even bother researching that much when it's never really part of the story?

(also, my incredibly minor complaint is that i think its a missed opportunity to not have one of the Landaus comment on how golems are real apparently. like sure i guess they never actually cross paths with Moss but. yknow... cmon)

anyway this is also just kind of a matter of taste, because i know that bigotry free fantasty worlds are very popular with some people, and i definitely get the appeal!!! it just does very little for me, especially in what is technically a period piece. for me personally, it doesnt hit as like "oh cool a fun fantasy world that im welcome in :3" it just comes across (TO ME) as. very fake

sorry for waiting like. months. to answer this question i’ve been pondering the best way to answer this for literally. months.

i guess the thing is i’ve never really thought about the domesticity of their relationship? a lot of fan things that depict them as brothers are very domestic, the little interactions between them living together and all that. sonic brushing tails’s fur. sonic telling tails to eat his vegetables. them shopping together. things like that. like, i do think they are brothers, and that they view themself as brothers, but i guess i don’t see them as conventional brothers? i’m not quite sure how to articulate this. like they ARE brothers, and they care about each other, and have a different sort of relationship than knuckles and sonic, and sonic and amy, and sonic and cream. but i wouldnt say they’d be anything like ed and al from fma. hm. it took literally thirty years to hear sonic call tails his brother in a game.

like, when i think of them, i’m inclined to think of my sister and i’s relationship. we’re about six years apart, no siblings in between. we love each other a lot, but we don’t see each other a whole lot, because we’re just in super different parts of our lives. i don’t live with her, but i’ll crash on her couch every once in a while. i don’t see her often. i am excited to see her when she visits.

so like, i think sonic did raise tails, in a sense. i think sonic probably took care of him when they first started hanging out and tails was literally just four years old. but sonic’s independent by nature and older by a good chunk of years, and i don’t really think he’d actually enjoy taking care of someone. sonic CARES and loves tails but i would not say he’s a nurturer, and he doesn’t want to be tied down. so once tails got a workshop, assumedly around sonic adventure (at least, a stable one), sonic ditched. i don’t think the two of them live together. sonic’s literally homeless and loves to wander the world for like, months on end. i don’t think sonic and tails do chores together. i don’t think sonic’s at tails’s workshop for long periods of time. maybe to crash on his couch and read a book every once in a while.

sonic visits, yeah, but i also think there’s just long periods of time where they don’t see each other. early sonic games from adventure to the “dark” era of sonic games indicate they don’t see each other for long periods of time (”long time no see!”) and when they do see each other, its often because of a new scheme from eggman or a danger to the world. like, sonic 06- they didn’t even plan on meeting each other, they just happened to cross paths.

i don’t know if this particularly makes sense. i just don’t really see them being particularly domestic together. neither of them are conventional people, and sonic especially is the type to enjoy alone time and adventuring; tails is a little more inclined to stay in place so he can work on his new machines, traveling usually for research or to help sonic. they’ve got different motivations and hobbies so i think they don’t actually spend a lot of time together. it’s probably similar to how much time sonic and knuckles spend together, since knuckles is almost always stuck on angel island with the master emerald.

(plus, if we consider the timeline sega’s been trying to tell us, where every game seems to happen in the span of a year, and tails has always been eight and sonic’s always been 15, or something similar, where tails isn’t a literal toddler when they meet, i really don’t see them doing anything domestic together at all. sonic’s always on the road and tails is off doing inventing or occasionally helping sonic out. if tails wasn’t four-ish when they meet, i don’t really think sonic would... like, take care of him the same way a “parent” would. amy rents her own house in station square, and she’s like twelve. it seems to be the norm, at least in our perspective, that young mobians are allowed to be left to their own devices; like, we still don’t know what’s up with charmy and the chaotix. sure, he could ahve been adopted by vector i suppose, or are his parents just super chill with him hanging out with a bunch of detectives? lmao. and besides, tails is a pretty smart cookie. he really can take care of himself, and sonic would just leave him be since he seems “old enough”, at least in the sonic world, to do so.)

ok so im reading wolverine volume 2 to try to get some context for whatever the fucks going on in uncanny. at somepoint, sabretooth starts hunting wolverine more frequently, saying hes his father(which turns out not to be true, dont worry lol). hes been given this belief and nobody can figure out why.

after being given hallucinogenic poison, sabretooth starts to break free from the need to kill and logan starts to remember something…

at first i thought he was trying to say ‘papa’ or something, but then its revealed he was trying to say ‘partner’(uglyyyyyy panel omg)

im not sure if logan remembers them being partners at this point, but he definitely does later. but the thorazine? not ever brought up again(as far as i saw, maybe it is. its hard to find what comics come next in canon since its not contained in a single series, theyre all over the place).

anyway, he then gets xavier and jean to look into his brain, and he finds some memories that dont make sense. (shout out to this bit where creed straight up wants to take him out for a bday date)

logan then goes to the facility in weapon x where the memories were fabricated. in the animated series sabretooth goes too, but i guess he wouldnt need to in the comics since its implied he already has. i think sabretooth found out about it somehow, got captured, and given the new memory of being logans father. this makes sense since after the hallucination thing sobering him up, he drops that belief.

my theory though is that sabretooth got a lot more fucked up by weapon x than logan. i mean, im pretty sure the false memories were all given after they worked together, and they dont seem to have any other reason(outside of using trauma to activate their need to kill) than to make them all want to suddenly turn against eachother. and i think sabretooth specifically was a failsave for if logan ever escaped, to go seek out and kill him.

both big memories(the one with them being partners in suits and the one where silverfox was killed) were based around logans birthday. so thats probably the reason behind sabretooth seeking him out on his birthday every year, being mixed with the ingrained need to kill him, just based on the little amounts of context he has. BUT the reason for him angering logan? for bringing out the animal? for constantly bringing up silverfox? hes trying to get logan to remember. hes trying to help break him from the memory blocks.

and hes trying to break free from his own programming. and its clear that at somepoint, he did. and he just wants logan to be free from it too.

the memory blocks are tied to logans animal side, but even later on when his animal side is finally released by sabretooth, it didnt really do anything for his memory. because at that point logan already remembers, while sabretooth is still under control of it. though, it is mentioned that something in sabretooths brain is unlocked from wolverine stabbing a claw through it? like he became more in control. that his need to kill is now his own choice. so maybe at that point he was just trying to get him to do that(also it kinda sucks that the canon gets passed around to different authors who will just ignore or get rid of established lore, so none of it really sticks for very long and the characters motives keep changing).

its weird though how logan remembers, yet still keeps trying to fight him. he knows its all fake, but still keeps the same opinion….basically sabretooths stuck with a partner whos forced by the narrative to never like him no matter what he does, while being equally doomed by the narrative to never be able to change. no matter how many times they break the spell, as long as the plot keeps going, theyll always be reset to their basic character traits. #peak romantic tragedy.

episode 8 time, this rewatch has made me realize the title cards' style don't actually alternate every episode. is there a pattern to them or what?

starting off with nika and martin telling the rest of earth house about miorine starting gund-arm inc and lmfao at nuno just calling that shit out immediately. yeah her ulterior motive is being a giant lesbian

honestly had kinda forgotten how averse to the idea of working for miorine the whole of earth house was at the beginning

before the break up arc i thought this frame was going to be important for dealing with prospera especially when later on miorine is shown for being one to keep receipts (ie. the photo she took of the kids who threw the spraycan or whatever at martin's head). but nah i guess she was just recording everything prospera was gonna have to say about gundams etc

i know prospera's priorities are hella skewed from her own trauma, but i honestly don't blame her for keeping this from suletta for as long as she did. no one on mercury needed to know about this and suletta wasnt in any danger while piloting aerial

i think if anything, it probably shouldve been information to be divulged to her prior to leaving to asticassia, but even then im not sure given suletta's personality early on. like she wouldnt have blabbed about it but it may have always just been more dangerous for her to have that knowledge

Angst about dad hobie/spiderpunk so warning! But it becomes a slight fluff?

Hobie having a afab reader as their lover. The reader actually gets pregnant from yknow, and hobie doesnt want them doing an unsafe abortion since they mightve been illegal back then or still are, and he doesnt want reader being hurt. So they have a kid and hobie stays with them no matter how hard it is being spiderman and being scared of your family being killed.

This was years ago, he shouldve been more safe, he shouldve done more. That what he tells himself as hes at your and his 8 year old daughters grave. Having a heart locket necklace that he bought for you on his neck, having a ring that he had made for his daughter and would let her wear it on special occasions on the same necklace. And inside the necklace is a photo of you three a couple of days before he lost the both of you. He has patches and stuff from both of yall on his leather jacket. Or if your crafty and make stuff or made him a leather jacket it becomes his main leather jacket he wears as it was a gift from you. Or any pins or anything he purs it on the jacket. He knows you or her wouldnt want him to blame himself but he cant stop, so he protects other familys woth his whole life. He knows how hard it is losing the hellspawn you created or the person you fell in love with. He distracts himself all the time with work, music, riots. Work+music+riots all together. Destroying osborn. Destroying villains. He overworks himself not to feel the immense pain and guilt he feels. He almost had bled out a couple of times if not for captain anarchy. You would patch him up and he got used to you doing it, he stopped doing it to himself. And he stopped caring about himself and if it happened, he just wanted his world back. He used to care about himself, you and yalls daughter did as well. Youd comfort him and now your gone, he doesnt know how to do with his feelings or anything , so thats why he distracts himself or doesnt care what happens to him. But no matter what on yalls anniversary, your birthday, your daughters birthday, his, honestly no matter what he always went to visit your grave everyday. He felt closer to you and your daughter. He was a little closer then he thought as yall were right their with him whenever hed come to visit, or just watching over him. You were his guardian angels physically and liter. He doesnt know that yet, he will once you accidentally show yourself to him when hes bleeding out when no ones around and he hears your and your daughters blissful voice. But its not his day, not today. Not yet. You give him another kiss before making sure he doesnt bleed out and his daighter also gives him kiss and cuddles him while you fix where his wounds at. He doesnt believe its real until he wakes up in an alleyway with karl shaking him and his wound is wrapped like how youd wrap it. Hed just need to change it, karl would help him with that. He still felt your and your daughters presence, and that motivates him a lot more. He is able to get more done and he finally gives himself a break. Visiting yours and his daughters grave with flowers while he is working on a new song to help anyone struggling with something similar he went to. Bit he also lets himself go to the park and relieve yalls memories from when you were kids to teens to young adults, to where yall had yalls daughter as probably 18/19/20 year olds (i dont want teen pregn in this guys even though that exist. Thatd also be a little weird writing ahout this.) But anyways while he revisits the memories he knows you and your daughter are right with him, when are yall not? And now he knows how yall feel and yalls presence, so he now always knows yall are always with him

one of my favorite details about liam is the fact that he is very nice!!!! but he does NOT seem to get manners

his whole motive thruout season 2 is that he wants to save the others. from the looks of it, he doesnt CARE about the revenge part that much. like yeah itd be nice to stop the guy that physically harmed and killed you bc he did that, but thats an afterthought really - and i didnt interpret liam trying to kill airy even as an attempt at revenge so much as an extremely irrational and extremely stress-induced method of trying to make sure his friend + the others DIDNT get sent to the plane. his main priority is repeatedly that he wants to stop this from happening to anyone else. the only time he mentions himself is when saying that he 'cant live the rest of his life not knowing WHY this happened' (thats paraphrased) but that is immediately followed up w concern for this happening to other people

ofc, he also thinks he literally Has Nothing so the lengths he goes to to save the others CAN be interpretted as not things he would do if he thought he could go back to normal but at that point, thats just extremely specific speculation and i dont think thats supposed to be whats conveyed. some situations wouldnt even be necessarily related to him not having anything, so much as related to helping the others. he still throws himself into everything after "remembering what its like to have a life again." even when he realizes that he doesnt HAVE to have lost everything, he still cared and wanted to help the others more

i think he wanted closure, yeah, but he really did want to save the others. the scene of him helping julien is there for a narrative reason, after all (though i dont wanna get into that bc id go on a tangent about narrative choices in ONE). hell, hes the only one to try to get charlie out of the way of the stakes! (not that the others didnt try, but i feel like the intended take-away of liams general nature is fairly clear)

anyway, liam is nice!! he cares a lot abt others and doesnt want bad things to happen to them, and hes ok with bad things happening to him if it can help them.

but he does NOT understand a lot of social etiquette, or the concept of being polite.

my favorite example of this is the whole discussion abt going to go see bradley. when the restaurant gets shut down, liams first thought is to go 'sooooo. you dont have work, right?' when liam realizes he cant pay for the laptop, he just kinda. 'i dont have any money.' and stares at bryce like a cat looking at your plate of sandwich meat, waiting for you to inevitably give them some

this isnt even ONLY after the 7 months, theres hints of this trait before then! when amelia is talking abt stone making her team when the challenge, he just goes 'yeah sorry.' then talks abt how texty won their teams challenge, pointedly when texty is RIGHT there. liam doesnt even say goodnight back to owen! (this ones less impolite than the others but i think its silly to include)

it should be noted tho, that while this ISNT present before and after the plane, it DOES show up more prominently afterwards, and this could very much be the stress! but looking at WHY its more prominent afterwards also feels like it points more towards this just being How He Is.

all of the things hes kinda impolite abt? are things where he is TRYING to be nice, or arent unkind inherently. hes going to talk to bradley? well, doesnt bryce want to come? driving him there is more efficient anyway. oh you have work? well now you dont! so now things are easier! staying here isnt gonna make the restaurant reopen anyway! (liam also probably does NOT have the same weight associated w jobs that bryce does, since liam hasnt had a job in a capitalist society in 7 months. its probably still subconsciously there, but not at the forefront when the plane is still out there). i crashed your car? well, i think the lives of others matters a little more. you can get a new car, but if something happens to airys contestants WHO KNOWS whatll happen to them

a lot of it, i think, is made more extreme by stress and trauma, yeah, but these are patterns in logic that seem to already discard manners as being that relevant. and i, autistic, chose to view that as something hes just Like. hes not a dick and he doesnt ever mean to be! but also if someone can do something fairly minor to do something more important, why does he NEED to be polite abt it?? whats the POINT you get the same message across! and thats assuming he even REALIZES these things are "impolite," based on a lot of his interactions w vryce, i legitimately dont think he realizes how he acts could sometimes be considered 'impolite'

where bryce is knowingly kind of rude sometimes and doesnt care (though is STILL kind, he is just more blunt and uninterested in sounding nice, which i could do an entirely different essay on the autism of), liam seems to not really notice manners, nor does he think theyre very important to consider, and i just. really love that about his character :)

this is the kind of guy that, if you stubbed ur toe, hed probably not say 'oohh, sorry :(' and hed just be 'dang, that sucks' and move on

gold teeth and a taste for this town sounds fascinating O.O

ahhhh ok so I kind of love this. it's entirely self indulgent and I had a great time writing the first 3000 words and then realised that i'd set myself up with a mammoth task if I were ever going to manage to explain the backstory enough so that anyone but me understood what the hell was happening.

so the story is set in this kind of small dead-end, americana esque town. one day a stranger rolls in to town and wanders in to the restaurant Fox works in. And it's like he's wandered in to the wrong story, he's walked straight out of a space opera and now he's sitting in front of Fox, like thats a thing that happens. never left this small town and thinks he probably never will: fox.

and then! maul has the cheek to start quizzing Fox, and acting like Fox is out of place. As far as Maul is concerned, he's landed on some dead end planet, walked in to an even deader town, and found a clone. Maybe the last clone. And this clone, is acting like he belongs here, like he has no idea who Maul is, like he's never known war, like he's never known anything but this place.

it's so bizzare that it shakes maul out of his usual, stab first, ask questions later attitude. he arrived on this planet a bit lost, there isnt really anything left for him. his ex master took over the galaxy, and he didnt need maul to do it. maul has tried his hand at leadership, at crime. but whats the point. but then. he stumbled upon this mystery, and against all reason it just, compells him.

so maul asks some more questions and it becomes apparent that fox woke up here with no memory, assumed he belonged, and everyone in this town felt so fucking awful for him (they're out of the way but news of the war reached them. news of the clones seemingly fizzling out after the empire, supposedly all gone). they just... didnt correct his assumption. and based on like. books he's read and the gossip he hears from the locals about each other, fox has just pieced together that he's this small town boy, who's never left. of course it doesnt QUITE feel right, fox shouldnt believe it, but he wants to.

he's a clever man and he can see the way the townspeople look at him, he sees them treating him gently and he thinks, he knows, that something really bad must have led to him losing his memory. of course he assumes its something bad of the level that might happen in a town like this. he lost his family? were they murdered? was it an illness? whatever it is, nobody speaks of them (because they were never in this town!!!) so it must have been bad.

and maul just keeps following him round trying to unravel this mystery and the companionship ends up doing something to him. maybe its a mixture of the hopelessness and boredom that brought him to this place, as well as the companionship. but either way, maul begins to connect with fox, even though fox hasnt the slightest clue who he is, and through this, Maul slowly begins to deal with his own shit. through fox, he can see what palpatine did to people. through fox, he can see it wasnt right, that fox didnt deserve it. and that eventually will lead to him realising that the same thing might apply to him as well.

and a maul without that first wound (once it begins to heal), wouldnt really be the maul we know from canon. where is his motivation to keep killing, to keep everyone away? he's still maul about it. he's still a dick and he's sharp and mean. but he isnt on a rampage anymore.

and thats the story. its a small town, slow story about two men who never really felt like they needed friends, becoming friends. its about these 2 victims of palpatine, finding solace in each other because they both went through the same thing, even though one of them has no idea. its a weird one, but I love it. i'll probably never post it tbh cause its kind of confusing i guess? but its like my ugly child lol i still love it.

nimona spoilers and narrative rambling below

i think its interesting that nimona could have just left (leaving is even suggested in the movie) but she stays, specifically, in the place that hates her out of a hope to find someone who doesnt, and probably also just sheer loneliness. this is one of those things where im sure none of this was intentional and its this way because otherwise movie would not happen. but i think this particular choice does imply a level of learned helplessness IF there are plausibly other humans or beings who nimona could have gone out and met.

the kingdom is all we see of human civilization in nimonas world, so you could either follow the thematic thread and say the kingdom encapsulates all sentient beings or you could follow the more literal interpretation that nimona stuck around not because the rest of the world is desolate, but because of how traumatic her sole experience of intimacy was and how little she thinks of herself from years of rejection, a glimmer of hope, and then a thousand years of being hated by literally everyone. she stays because getting love from here, specifically, is important to her even if it means sticking around to endure being hated.

i was just thinking about how cleverly written it is that even though watching the movie when ballister suggests leaving i as an audience member am also like "YES. LEAVE!!!" but still understand why she chooses to stay.

sidenote but i do think bringing up leaving does present a bit of a narrative issue. for one, ballister going from willing to run away with nimona to angrily confronting her about the scroll is a pretty big swing, and even though they try to sell it with the ambrosious scene i still found it jarring. And, by presenting the audience with the possibility of leaving the situation as a possible solution, it does beg the question-- if she can leave, why hasnt she? obviously in that moment she is motivated by bringing the director to justice, yes, but what about before? Well, points to previous paragraphs. We as an audience do understand why, and as i said if she just left then movie wouldnt happen.

I think its interesting because its a glimpse into another way the narrative couldve gone. Instead of the attempted suicide followed by vindication and valorization, nimona leaves. she leaves the people that hurt her behind, and there are other things out there for her. Obviously this ending doesnt pay off anything thematically, but why consider thematic payoff when cutting ties to abuse?

I think nimona is an incredibly hopeful and wish fulfilling story about overcoming those who are prejudiced against you, killing corrupt bigoted public officials, changing peoples mind and getting them to see you, and finding love. I think its meant to be a very encouraging story for kids, especially queer kids, who wouldnt have an option to run from a hostile place either. But i also think, inadvertedly, it teaches kids that your queerness (shapeshifting) means that people who will be able to love you are rare unless you yknow sacrifice yourself heroically for society. that finding someone is miraculous, because it feels miraculous, and when youve been rejected all your life the idea of an abundance of people out there who would care about you is absurd. i think this would be a lot worse if she rly did die at the end to be fair

the ahsoka-baylan duel...it was just not enjoyable for me. my interpretation is that they were trying for something similar to what obi-wan and maul did on tatooine in rebels, where they used lightsaber stances as non-verbal communication. in rebels it was obi-wan assuming his prequels/cw pose, then his original trilogy pose, then the pose that qui-gon used when maul killed him. maul thought he could use the same attack he did when he killed qui-gon, and his immediate defeat shows how obi-wan has thought about that day for years and years, and how he's always learning from his past, whereas maul only thinks about his past as a source of anger and motivation for revenge. in ahsoka they might have been using the stances to sort of gauge each other's knowledge of the jedi traditions, and i appreciate the different uses of this heavy reliance on star wars lore, but the payoff doesn't seem so satisfying. ahsoka dismisses talking about her past (and tbf, why wouldnt she, like this guy is trying to start another galaxy wide war) so we don't really get anything out of it all *SO FAR* i really hope the relationship between her and baylan evolves and this lightsaber thing becomes more important, but on the surface right now it just felt like another sorta boring lightsaber fight. but i would absolutely love to hear other people's thoughts on this and ill probably edit this once more people have seen it and posted about it

also where's zeb. we saw him in the mandalorian, we know he's there. where are you hiding him. we know he knows paul sun-hyung lee (i forgot his characters name). he would absolutely have come with hera. also morai

im usually a pretty conservative shipper, like i don't really care about ships (as long as they're ethical lmao) i just don't really engage with that part of fandom. i could get behind luke and ezra being together, there's some cool sun and moon imagery there and they sort of have contrasting stories, as @hashtagloveloses said once. zeb and kallus i don't mind either. but barrissoka is my everything. it is the one ship that i want to see SOOO BADLY FUCCCKK PLEASE DAVE YOU SAID YOU HAVE PLANS FOR BARRISS LIKE TEN YEARS AGO PLEASEE

but yeah shin and sabine would be pretty cool too, there's definitely a lot of tension there and even though we don't know much about her (i really want to learn more) it would be cool to see shin have someone truly care about her, not be her boss or anything, and have sabine learn to lean more into honesty expressing her affection, since she's always been really stoic and i think shin would need that sincerity in a relationship

and i already mentioned anakin in another post but fuck im so happy to see hayden chritsensen again man. even if his story is lackluster (which oh my god i hope it's not) im so happy to see him again ❤️

i also really hope anakin brings up some character development/exploration for ahsoka cause like. what has she been doing. this is probably the biggest problem i have with this show so far, or at least second biggest lmao. i like that they're taking time to explore different characters and relationships in the universe, but i really want to see ahsoka get more time to shine. when put in a leadership position, she's always been a little more serious (character development from that one time she led a while squad to their deaths cause she was careless), like when she was with the younglings when they got their kyber crystals, but that doesn't mean she's invincible/unfeeling. she has lots of feelings about anakin and obi-wan and ezra and sabine, and i really want to see them!! when she said it's better to destroy the map and lose ezra than let thrawn return and start a war, i want to see her struggle with that like sabine does because she misses ezra too! i get that she didn't want to talk about anakin with baylan but let her talk about him with someone else! hopefully her world between worlds experience will help with that. some of the most solid development we've seen with her so far is being upset by how much she's let people down, ie anakin, sabine. and baylan tries to play into that to make her feel bad. i feel like that certainly will be explored more but fuck. it's about time.

i also want to see her relationship with the jedi more fully explored. i had always assumed that, while she was deeply affected by order 66, she didn't regret her decision to leave the jedi order. i thought that barriss had shown her some of the problems with it, and that her supporting the siege of mandalore showed that she was able to pursue what she thought was important, not the jedi order who were being heavily controlled by the senate and the politics of the time. but she seems to feel guilty about the fact that she's not a jedi? that she somehow let them down by not confirming to a system she no longer believed in? idk if i just made that up in my head cause i like to think of it that way and that my hradcanon is interfering with my enjoyment of this show lmao, someone please tell me if it is

another big problem i have with the show so far is how much it relies on the audience being invested in these stories to supply dramatic weight. and i don't mean in the way that it doesn't explain who sabine, ahsoka, hera, jacen, etc. are, this is obviously a show specifically for cw and rebels fans and im all the way here for it. i mean theres very little substance here, it feels like mostly biding time until ezra and thrawn show up. like we're 4 episodes in and we've seen some relationship development for ahsoka and sabine, a bit of hinting at a backstory for baylan, and...a lot of good guy v bad guy race for the special map, which just isn't very enthralling cause we know someone's gonna get to thrawn and ezra, we all saw lars mikkelson in the trailer. what i really want to see developed is his response to him being seen as a sort of messiah that will bring the empire back. or why baylan is so certain thrawn will start another war, or still be loyal to the empire at all with their power, and therefore political value to the chiss, as well as palpatine, who was sort of keeping him in line, gone. i want something substantial out of these stories were invested in, not just fodder for "ooh who are we gonna see next?"

also how much you wanna bet that ahsoka uses the world between worlds to get to thrawn. like its lines and shit appear in the credits so it's probably important

but yeah that's about all im thinking about right now hopefully next episode is crazy, cause it sure is shaping up to be a doozy

I finished There's sunshine in your smile and now i want no i NEED that "what if im at the other side of this staff" fight because i just know it would be the most cute and violent fight ever, like they would make their better moves and attacks but they would miss on purpose, i just know that they are gonna be in a similar position that Hunter and Amity at the end of their fight, but instead of the threat Willow it's gonna touch Hunter's nose making a "boop!" sound or something and he is gonna blush and she is gonna laugh making him blush again cause their are dumb and i love them and yes

Sunshine was written post ASIAS and pre HM when I really had no idea where Hunter's character arc was gonna go and how much of a strain his loyalty to Belos was going to put on his friendship with Willow. (At the time Willow was the person he was closest to. His bonds with Luz and Gus strengthened afterwards.) So I was really just taking a shot in the dark. Which works cuz Hunter and Willow had no idea what was going to happen either. Though they were trying to ignore everything because they both desperately wanted to keep this connection between them, deep down, they knew their respective alliances and beliefs would probably come back to bite them in the end. They knew this friendship seemed easy at the time but it had a chance of getting very difficult and they might inevitably have to break it off. And no matter how much they tried not to think about that, they had to acknowledge it at some point.

So I feel like this hypothetical conflict they brought up would be more sad than cute. Devastating really.

Remember at the beginning of LR how ready Willow was to capture a scout and interrogate them? But then later in the episode she had the fucking Golden Guard of all people. Literally nobody more perfect to get information out of. But what did Willow do? She hung back and allowed the others to handle that job instead. She avoided eye contact with him. She pretended she didn't see him. From Willow's limited knowledge of Hunter's loyalty at that time, she knew it wouldnt be the right move to trust him. But she still couldn't bring herself to be the one who confronted him. She would rather sit this one out.

So Willow absolutely would not want to fight Hunter. However if she was left with no other option, if he posed a threat to her family and friends, she would have take matters into her own hands and do something about him.

Hunter worried that though Willow was very strong, he didn't know enough about her to be sure she wouldn't go easy on him. That scared him to think about. He tried to warn her not to because Hunter was certain that if he was left with no other option than to fight her, he wouldn't go easy on her and he really really didn't want to kill her. He needed her to fight and keep herself alive. However, Hunter swearing he won't go easy on someone and then proceeding to go easy on them has happened before. In Hunting Palismen when he sarcastically said "You think I'll just let you walk away with them?" And then he DID. And this was Luz, who Hunter didn't even know that well. If he couldn't bring himself to fight her honestly, he would most definitely have problems fighting Willow.

Two kids who would rather do anything else than fight each other. However two kids with very firm motivations that they refuse to go against. So if they did fight it WOULD be a huge blow out of a battle. But yes they would still be holding themselves back. Lots of subconsciously deliberate misses when they get too close to kill shots.

If Hunter and Willow ever had to fight, the circumstances would be too grim for the silliness and flirting they had in the garden.

HOWEVER based on the way things have canonically gone? If they're having spars in the Human Realm forest then yes it is EXACTLY as fierce and as cute as you described.
