what advice would you give your childhood self:

I had one of those extremely awful childhoods that were silent. those ones where you get fucked up real bad, but there aren't physical marks (but most of what I endured was physical) or verbal abuse. to this day, there are still a lot of experiences I haven't had, things I missed out on, things I can't do because of trauma and things psychiatrist, therapists, counselors haven't been able to dig out of me bc of how deep, deep-rooted it all is. the result of it is that I'm very angry, distrustful, avoidant, fairly aggressive, sexually averse adult.

I would tell my childhood self that the things you feel matter, and that you're "not doing it to yourself", as my mother put. and that it'd be worth going to doctors and therapy now, rather than waiting.

I would stress the importance of handling money, because so much of my own stress would've been halved if I had known anything about budgeting expenses. it sucks that money runs the world, but it does, and most of us are vulnerable to those systems and we have to play by them.

the world isn't against you, it's you against yourself and you have to learn to deal with it without burning everyone else around you in the process. this was a hard-learned lesson that I still feel guilt over to this day.

to my youngest self who had enormous dreams and aspirations that were constantly whittled down by my family bc we were poor and they were miserable: go to school to be a doctor, anyway. my dream career was to be a dermatologist bc I had really severe cystic acne (the google images nightmare fuel) and wanted people looking for help similarly not to feel so alone, or hideous about a condition that really isn't their fault.

you're gonna be way hotter at 30 than in your 20s and you're really pleasantly surprised by it 💀💀💀
