Tumblr media
The first petal falling over the tip of your nose, his hands around your waist.
“The sky is tinted in pink” he whispers and softly squeezes your skin. You can’t see, you are blindfolded. Law is guiding you somewhere; a so needed vacation time finds you both enjoying the backyard of a traditional Japanese house in Kyoto.
You smile, enjoying his touch and curious about his surprise. “I have to say I’m amazed, I never thought you could be this romantic” you say, sure his cheeks are already blushing like crazy.
And you aren’t wrong. Law’s caramel cheeks become cherries and his icy eyes look at the side to make his own cringe a little more bearable. “Stop it…” he mumbles, embarrassed.
“I’m not laughing, I’m being serious” you answer back, after all you aren’t used to him being romantic.
Law stops, and with the soft breeze of the Japanese spring time, your hair dances. “So, are you ready? I’m gonna take your blindfold off, (Name)-ya” he murmurs, with his voice a little trembling and his breath becoming haste and shaky.
You aren’t sure why he sounds so nervous, but you are anticipating discovering it, so much.
“Please, whenever I take it off wait a few seconds to open your eyes” he finishes, as you feel his tattooed hands untying the silky bandana he used to cover your eyes.
You wait until he indicates, and when you finally fix your sight on him you discover he is crunching, with one knee on the ground and a little red box on his hands.
You widen your eyes, it can’t be real… Law is proposing?!
The moment freezes, the sakura buds shaken by a subtle wind rain on you, and the pink of the skies mix with a beautiful mantle of flowers over the ground. You are surrounded by pink, and it feels like a dream.
“(Nam-Name)-ya…ya, would yo- you… marry mwe?” Law asks, stuttering and acting like the cutest person in this whole world.
Your lips tremble, you are trying not to cry. The surprise is so damn beautiful, you can’t help it. Watery orbs reflect the rosé clouds, and the rustling of the cherry blossom tree garnishing the centre of the garden synchronizes with your heartbeats.
“Yes! YES I DO! I love you so much!!!” you excitedly jump and accept, of course you do… you love him more than anything and anyone.
Law smiles and breathes alleviated. The poor man still had a little doubt about your answer, but what a dummy he is… “I- I love you, for the eternity… thank you…”
His trembling hand slides the ring on your finger, and as he does you pounce into him. Kisses everywhere, you place. Kisses, a hug, and so many cuddles making him fall to the ground with you over him.
“You cute little shit, this was your surprise?? AH I’M SO HAPPY!! Kiss me!! Make love to me!!” you chime, kissing his neck and collarbones.
The surgeon giggles, but soon he begins to laugh loudly. He is so happy he forgot his “serious man” paper. And you are loving it way too much, because you know the real Law, you really do.
And so many kisses in his neck you give to him, that, you can feel something hard underneath your ass. Sitting over his lap gives you access to his arousal, and you can’t wait… “I’m serious, make. love. to. me”
Law changes his dumb smile to a sexy smirk, and with just a swing he changes positions. Him on top, your back against the pink covered grass. “Right here? What if a neighbour see us?” he whispers, taking your shirt off. “Let them rejoice in the celebration of our future wedding, then ~” “As you wish my sweet future wife…”

Happy November!
Tumblr media
Actually, I don’t really like November, usually. So many dark and gloomy days where I live; and so long until the weather will improve!
October roundup:
An up and down month. Started off with covid, so felt dreadful and just lived in my bedroom for the best part of a week whilst husbae did the full time job and all the parenting/meals etc etc. what a star he is.
Missed the wedding I was meant to attend as though I’d recovered enough to go, Mr 4 was ill and so I had to stay and look after him. Too late to cancel my hotel booking as well. Right bugger. In 2023, I have had three arrangements to meet actual friends in the flesh and I’ve managed 1 of those. The universe is set on me not having even a modicum of a social life.
I had to cancel my work that I’d booked, then there was no more work until the 30th. Some of that was half term, the rest… well there probably would have been work to pick up if I’d asked but I didn’t so… not a great month in the earnings department. Currently three days into a three week booking and that’s going ok.
Managed the birthday and the party without incident. Thank God for soft play and paying other people to basically do the whole thing for you. Don’t think I could’ve coped with running an old fashioned party at my house. All those 4/5 year olds… no thanks.
Made it to the caravan in Wales for the half term holiday. Mostly fine, as fine as holidays with small Chn can get. Miss 7 developed an appalling cold which she has subsequently passed to me. It is currently sitting in my chest and making me sound like a 40 a day smoker. Nice.
All that nice self care stuff I set up in September (the make up and body care stuff) was derailed when covid hit and hasn’t really picked up again. Turns out losing habits is far easier than maintaining. A bit of mascara here and there to stop me looking truly horrendous but not much else. Must get back to it. Still closing my rings, probably should up the goal to make it more challenging.
Actually managed to complete my October challenge- the sandtober daily drawing prompts. It was good. I did almost all of them the night they were ‘due’ c10pm, since inspiration never struck until then. It seems I still require the impetus of a deadline to actually get my arse in gear and do something. Did I improve over the month? Mm perhaps. I was exceptionally rusty, the only things I’d drawn in the past decade or so were shit renditions of Peppa Pig or the Octonauts for the toddlers. Toddlers are easily pleased, luckily. Also learned (no… confirmed. I already knew it) that I lack any creativity, because if there isn’t something to copy then I can’t do it. If there *is* something to copy, I can produce vague facsimiles (as long as no one is looking for shading or whatever) with varying degrees of success.
For November’s “thing”, I’ve signed to to a writing challenge. I don’t know why really, see above about the lack of creativity I possess. I just… came out a heart scan at the hospital and thought ‘fuck it’ and signed up. I’m even less practised in writing than I am in drawing (though I read voraciously and everyone knows that’s ‘so helpful for building vocabulary etc’ 😅) but… we shall see how it progresses.
OH and storm Babet blew down a massive bough from one of the old ash trees in my garden. It’s currently sitting and destroying the lawn, just waiting for the tree surgeons to come and take care of it and check that the rest of the tree is still ok.
This is a fooking big branch. We have a decent sized garden and it’s taking up most of it. The satellite branches we’ve removed already are six ft long. And they’re like twigs compared to the main thing.

I’m looking out of my husband’s hospital window at the medical specialty building adjacent to the hospital. I used to have an office over there on the 5th floor and worked there for many years back in the day.
I did therapeutic body work as part of a team of doctors and therapists who worked for a very kind and brilliant surgeon. I did a good bit of in hospital work in those days and learned so much. I remember that the Doc I worked for bought me a white coat and slapped a name tag with a bunch of initials on it and and he said “ We are not going to ask permission- just go over there and act confident and do your thing.” He said, "Ask for the chart and then write something down." and I'd say, "Well what do I write down?" and he'd say,"Oh just make something up."
It is really amazing what therapeutic touch can do. I could tell you so many stories from those days. Jessica, Bill, Gwen, Kathy, Nan. I'm flooded with memories being back on this campus. I’m thinking of Bill McKenzie right now, looking at our old office out the window and sitting in the hospital where he worked and where we sat with him in silence as he died. He was an amazingly kind man and in some ways I owe my career in bodywork to him. He was so beloved, and his memory is truly a blessing. I often think of him in thankfulness and am inspired to continue to do the best healing work I am capable of.
Grace seems to be tapping me on the shoulder all the time these days. In the darkness there is always a great light.

Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said.. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made.. Or a garden planted.. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there.. It doesn't matter what you do, he said, so long as you change something from the way it was before you touched it into something that's like you after you take your hands away.. The difference between the man who just cuts lawns and a real gardener is in the touching, he said.. The lawn-cutter might just as well not have been there at all.. the gardener will be there a lifetime.. Ray Bradbury

agreeing for house and furniture and everything – said I only wanted the coaches – should be glad if I got a tenant for the hotel, and I would leave him to agree with Mr. Carr – but I should not like to miss the coaches – P- to try to gain time – said I had a person ready to take the tap of the tenant – I had not named the subject except to one gentleman whom I had consulted (did not mention CP. and sure Mr. Parker could not guess) P- not croking [crooking] today – said Carrs’ retiring was very lucky – and the hotel not costing near so much as people thought would be a good speculation – would make my other property adjoining much more valuable – I hope the hotel will turn out well, and if the coal does, too, I shall be thankful – I do not despair – Just mentioned Holts’ offer to Mr. Jeremiah R- to buy the low bed sough, and JR-‘s laughing and saying it was worth thousands – I said H- wanted to persuade me to give a thousand pounds for it – but I only consented to give £500, and now I would not give as many pence – I had convinced H- I should be better without it – I did not consider R-‘s coal worth anything – I would not take it a gift if I was obliged to work it – I ought to have added if obliged to work it as R- does – I thought he must have laid out £15000 – returned up the old bank – sometime on the embankment in Allen car against the road wall – then in the gardens and stood talking to the gardener about Hemingways’ son – thinks he could not well manage him among so many men – I should very well like him to take little John Booth if he the gardener thought he could take it entirely from his father and made anything of him – sometime on the home-terrace with Mr. Gray – and about – came in at 7 ¼ A- having returned from Crownest 5 minutes before – very much tired but right as to temper dinner at 7 35 – went into A- sitting for a few minutes but came up with A- at 9 put her to bed – had Cookson to help me till 9 20 then left them for 25 minutes and sat reading Mudies’ popular mathematics – then a few minutes with A-who had had tea, and tho’ tired seemed better – then till 10 35 wrote all but the 1st 16 lines of today – very fine day – F61° at 9 20 pm – sat reading in my study till 11 20 – looking the directions in Dodsley’s cellar book, Clarkes’ Innkeepers’ guide

The Skin I Live In - Pedro Almodóvar
I jus re-watched "The Skin I Live In," Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar's 2011 masterpiece starring Antonio Banderas as Robert, a wrathful plastic surgeon with a traumatic past, and Jan Cornet and Elena Anaya as Vicente and Vera, the objects of his vengeance. This is your warning there are spoiler alerts ahead, so please stop reading if you haven't seen the movie, because it's the twist at the film's core that makes it an incredible experience!
The day after seeing the movie again, I can't stop thinking about how six years before the #MeToo movement kicked off, Almodóvar created an incredibly nuanced portrayal of sexual assault that holds a mirror to the viewer when it comes to how we view and interpret rape, and what we consider just punishment for sex crimes.
There are many other core themes and ideas in the film, including bringing to vivid life why living with gender dysphoria is akin to torture, and suggesting that holding on to one's own identity - creating some kind of space where you can stay true to yourself - is the only way to survive.
The Pygmalion, Frankenstein-esque relationship between Robert, the artist-surgeon, and Vicente/Vera, his work of art or monster, depending on your perspective, is also fascinating ... and this movie definitely brought to mind Hitchcock's "Vertigo," which also features a man transforming someone into his idealized dead lover. There are other ways the film feels Hitchcockian, which I won't dive into here. It's also worth noting Frankenstein's monster in the film (Vera) in turn becomes an artist themselves, establishing their own creative power, an act of defiance that seems essential to their survival. This creativity, Almodóvar suggests, is something different than what drives Robert's insane biogenetic and surgical experiment (or is it?).
But on the subject of sexual assault, some thoughts:
It's important that in the film's sequencing, the first rape we see is Vera's. We don't yet know she's actually a man, Vicente. We just know she's a prisoner of Robert's, but we don't know how or why this came to be.
It's in this context that we meet Zeca, the son of Robert's maid, as he gets into the house where Vera is being held, eventually binding and gagging his own mother and then entering Vera's room. Vera says no multiple times as he assaults her, though at the same time she's also clearly trying to use Zeca to negotiate her own escape, suggesting for example they have sex in the garden and not her room. Zeca ultimately rapes her. Vera tells him, "You're hurting me," but he doesn't stop.
This rape feels very "clear cut." Zeca violently assaults Vera (though we do later learn Zeca likely believed he was having sex with his former lover ... that notwithstanding, he ignores Vera's no's and pleas).
Then, just a bit later in the film, we see the second critical rape scene of the movie, and we see it twice, from two distinct perspectives. First Robert's, then Vicente's. This rape is the film's foundational moment which sets everything else in motion, and it involves Robert's troubled daughter Norma.
From Robert's perspective, we see him at a wedding with his daughter. She's recently been released from some kind of psychiatric care. Eventually, she disappears and he goes looking for her.
Robert leaves the party happening indoors and walks outside. It's nighttime on a grand estate. He hears the sounds of people having sex and encounters an orgy happening in the garden. Then, a man on a motorcyle races by him. Robert continues walking and sees a shoe, which he realizes is Norma's. We sense his mounting panic as he finds her other shoe, then her sweater. The audience, not knowing what's happened, is in the same position as Robert: we assume there was some kind of violent struggle between Norma and an assailant, that her shoes and sweater were torn off. Then Robert sees Norma, lying by a tree, dressed and unconscious, possibly even dead. He rushes to her and she wakes up in his arms, screaming, "No!"
Like Robert, we can only imagine a rape has happened and we're primed for this interpretation by the orgy we've seen previously, and the fact that unbeknownst to Robert, a young man had been making eyes with Nora inside the wedding.
Next, we see the scene from that man's perspective, Vicente's. Here Almodóvar troubles our understanding of what's transpired. And crucially, Robert will never learn what we're about to.
As we experience the scene through Vicente's eyes, we see that Norma actually threw her own high heels off, then her sweater. This is the first indication all may not be as it initially seemed.
The rape actually begins with Norma seemingly consenting to Vicente's sexual advances, or at least, not protesting. Vicente kisses Norma after she laughingly falls in his arms. We also know at this point that Vicente is extremely high (Almodóvar makes a point of having Vicente exclaim he's on drugs earlier).
After lying on the ground near a tree and more kissing, when Vicente enters Norma, she says nothing. They exchange light conversation, with him inside her, and Norma seems OK. There's a cut to a musician singing inside the wedding, and when we return to Vicente and Norma on the ground, she now looks terrified. Something has changed and she's clearly not enjoying what's happening, but Vicente isn't even looking at her face and is unaware anything's wrong.
At this point, Norma clearly says, "No," and starts screaming. Vicente puts his hand over Norma's mouth and she bites his hand. He slaps her so hard he renders her unconscious. Vicente pulls out, puts her bra and dress back on, and runs away.
I've noticed that reviews online sometimes characterize Vicente's assault as something other than rape, underscoring the seeming lack of societal consensus around these issues, despite how far we've come in openly discussing sexual assault. But the fact is, a consensual scenario can become a non-consensual one. When Norma clearly says "no" and tries to push Vicente off her, and he doesn't stop, the sex becomes rape. One could even argue that because Vicente never gets Norma's verbal consent to have sex, the entire encounter is suspect, or that Norma isn't even able to give her consent, given the state of her mental health (it's also not clear how old she is). Regardless, when Norma says no, Vicente should stop immediately. But rather than do that, he tries to silence her out of fear of being caught, then hits her. He's guilty of rape and assault.
However, the point of seeing the scene first from Robert's and then Vicente's perspectives seems to be that Robert is missing crucial context. Yes, his daughter was raped, but is Vicente truly a complete monster? Vicente, high and likely drunk, didn't seem to register signs that Norma might not be mentally well. And when she said no and bit his hand, he panicked. He's definitely a rapist, but his actions feel more understandable than those of Zeca's, for example, a violent criminal who is so unhinged he was willing to harm his own mother to get what he wanted. Vicente did something wrong, but does he deserve the punishment that gets meted out to him? (And could anyone ever deserve what ultimately gets done to Vicente?)
When Vera is raped by Zeca, the audience feels sympathy for her. When we see Vicente rape Norma, we don't yet know Vicente IS Vera. Once we learn the rape victim (Vera) is the rapist himself (Vicente), there's enough sympathy for Vera, and enough nuance around what Vicente did, that I don't think anyone would argue she/he deserved to be raped in turn. These are the issues the film raises in a rapid-fire, nuanced way - packaged in a suspense-horror thriller with a good dose of melodrama - that's absolutely fascinating to experience.
On the subject of Robert: he never learns what happened to Norma from Vicente's perspective, so he never gets the context we as the audience have. We also don't know what, if anything, Norma was able to articulate to anyone about what happened to her. Robert's lack of knowledge is clear: when Robert confronts Vicente about raping his daughter, revealing himself to be her father, Vicente says he doesn't actually remember what happened because he was on drugs. So we know Robert doesn't know the full story.
To me, this allows Robert to remain morally ambiguous. From his perspective, his daughter was violently raped and then killed herself. While he could interrogate what he actually knows further, based on the actual evidence he has (which is slim, assuming Norma wasn't able to say much), do we blame him for not doing so? For a father, would knowing that Vicente didn't plan to rape Norma, or that Vicente didn't realize she was mentally unwell, change anything? Would knowing that Norma initially seemed open to Vicente's advances make any difference?
Either way, since Robert doesn't know any of this, and Vicente tragically doesn't either (or decides to lie rather than defend himself), Robert doesn't have all the information at hand. He sadistically tortures Vicente for raping his daughter, and Vicente has to live with the consequences of a rape he might not entirely remember. Neither is a good person, but both are sympathetic at times, though Robert's actions are obviously so extreme that the audience's sympathy tips toward Vicente/Vera.
When Robert sees Vicente/Vera get raped, his sympathy for her is seemingly triggered, and the rape leads him not only to kill Zeca, but to let his guard down completely and succumb to his sexual desire for Vera.
All of this began with Robert's reaction to one rape (Norma's) and his fate is sealed by his reaction to the second rape (Vera's). How does Robert see himself? An avenger of wronged women? A genius? Robert doesn't seem to doubt that Vera could love and desire him ... should we chalk that up to male hubris or has he fully succumbed to madness? Is Vera's rape in some twisted way the final vengeance for Norma's, and therefore Robert can finally let go of his hatred toward Vicente/Vera once he sees her assault and fall for her?
Did I still feel kind of sad for Robert when he dies in the end? Yes. Did I very much want Vera to escape? Yes. And that's the brilliance of this film, not to mention Antonio Banderas's incredible performance. Nothing is at it seems, the main characters' are morally ambiguous, and their actions - no matter how dark and reprehensible - have context. It's a great movie.

What's a Flower Person?
Tumblr media
A "flower person", as a personal metaphor of mine, is an individual who survived mandatory history classes but didn't actually learn much about historical scholarship. They bloomed, and they're beautiful as all people can be, but their stems are of varying levels of toughness. Are their stems enough to keep them standing, just as society wanted them to be? For a number of them, sure, but others, not so much. Some of these individuals grew large flowers of historical knowledge, but they lack understanding on how to apply that knowledge to everyday tasks. They never learned about the cultural and social aspects that led to those dates they memorized. They were taught that all history is about is memorizing when and what happened in the past. As far as I know, that isn't what historical study is about, and it isn't why studying history is important.
A "flower person", as I was, many years ago when I was determined to be a science major --- despite finding the sciences too easy and, while intriguing to a point, growing increasingly lackadaisical in my studies --- might think that there is no point in teaching or studying history. They might believe the historical field is like a fish on a dock, or one trapping amongst an oil pond, practically swimming dead in the water. 'Studying the past to not make the same mistakes in the future' is a wonderful idea, but the concept seems flimsy and unimportant compared to high-education, high-pay, and high-exhausting areas like neuroscience, nuclear physics, or general surgeon-ing.
A "flower person", as I like to call it, has a pretty, intelligent head, but lacks an in-depth understanding of what makes the historical field so important. And, frankly, what makes scholarship and academic study in general so important. A "flower person" never thought to study or examine what they learned so tortuously in common education deeply enough to grow into a tree with wide-reaching roots that can sustain itself for generations to come. For most of these "flower people", they never had a chance to.
Tumblr media
To put this in more simple terms, as this is a blog for the common, everyday joe who doesn't have time nor care to read a bunch of flowery language --- (did ya get the pun there?) --- as so many people like to say, common education has failed you. In so many ways. And this blog is about why historical study is actually important. And how. And if you don't really agree with that or just stopped by because you like history in general, there's some fun facts and discussions of scholarly topics too. Mostly in layman's terms. Because it gets really tiring writing concisely and like I know what I'm talking about when sometimes no one knows what we're talking about and we're just trying to make things work with the information we have.
So yeah. Hi! And welcome to the historical garden for all of those "flower people" out there. So happy to meet other people like me, and hopefully we can all grow as individuals through the study of history together : )

Nature's Doctors: Finding a Tree Arborist Near Me for Your Ailing Trees
Tumblr media
When the trees in your backyard or property start showing signs of distress, it's time to call in the experts. A tree arborist, also known as a tree surgeon, is the "doctor" your trees need to diagnose and treat their ailments. In this article, we'll explore the importance of finding a tree arborist near you and why these skilled professionals are essential for maintaining the health and beauty of your trees.
The Vital Role of Tree Arborists
Trees are a vital part of our ecosystem, providing oxygen, shade, and a home for various wildlife. However, just like any living organism, trees can suffer from diseases, infestations, and structural issues that require professional attention. This is where tree arborists come into play.
Diagnosis and Treatment
A qualified tree arborist is trained to diagnose a wide range of tree issues. They can identify diseases, insect infestations, nutrient deficiencies, and structural problems. By conducting thorough assessments, they determine the best course of action to ensure the tree's survival and long-term health.
Pruning and Maintenance
Tree arborists are not only tree doctors but also tree beauticians. They specialize in tree pruning, shaping, and maintenance, ensuring your trees look their best. Proper pruning not only enhances the tree's aesthetics but also promotes healthy growth and reduces the risk of branch breakage.
Tree Removal as a Last Resort
In some cases, a tree may be beyond saving or pose a danger to property and people. In such instances, a tree arborist can safely remove the tree while minimizing the impact on the surrounding environment.
Why Choose a Local Tree Arborist?
When searching for a tree arborist, it's essential to find one near you. Local arborists are familiar with the specific tree species in your area, the prevalent diseases and pests, and the local climate conditions. This localized knowledge is invaluable in providing effective tree care.
How to Find a Tree Arborist Near You
Online Search: Use search engines or tree care directories to find tree arborists near your location.
Ask for Recommendations: Seek recommendations from neighbors, friends, or local gardening clubs.
Check Qualifications: Ensure the arborist is certified by a recognized organization, such as the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).
Request References: Ask for references and check the arborist's track record of successful tree care.
Conclusion
A tree arborist near me is your go-to expert for preserving the health and beauty of your trees. These tree doctors diagnose issues, provide treatments, and offer guidance on proper tree care. By partnering with a local tree arborist, you're not only ensuring the well-being of your trees but also contributing to the overall health of your environment. So, when your trees need attention, don't hesitate to seek out the expertise of a tree arborist near you.

Artificial Intelligence (An alarming situation).
Tumblr media
I remember when I was a kid, I used to see so many birds, sparrows to be more specific, hearing their chirping sounds every morning, it always made me happy. I used to witness their complete ecosystem around trees, gardens etc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similarly, I used to do almost all of my work independently without using some tech gadgets and any Expert System having AI based algorithm. We in our young age did not have VR gear boxes, Smartphones, Smartwatches but pure joy and healthy life.
It seems like everything has changed in a glance. Now I see gadgets everywhere, now we don`t have to move physically to perform any task, now we, barely move our finger to do our tasks. Is it a blessing or a curse?

As we are living in AI era, we "maybe unknowingly" are completely dependent upon technology. As for now, we are living besides Robots and Expert Systems, these technology have more reliability over our decisions. Initially AI was developed to assist human but this pleasant dream soon to be turned into a nightmare.
HOW? How AI is defeating us rather than helping us out.
UNEMPLOYMENT:
Technically, the idea of AI was to create jobs for people, to assist us for carrying out complex tasks. AI is all about the automation this means millions of people are going to lose their jobs who are responsible for several administrative work.
One example is; A robot has started to perform surgery on a patient to diagnose and cure some disease, creating troubles for doctors and paramedics. The implementation of AI in medical field is in experimental phase and soon it can replace most of the doctors and surgeons especially in developed world, leading to doctors towards unemployment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similarly, Robots based upon AI models are being used experimentally in construction and infrastructure field creating and developing homes and buildings using their complex algorithms of modeling. It can also lead to architectures and home designers to be idle.

2. HEALTH ISSUES:
Tumblr media
Though AI was developed to help us in living a healthier and depression-free lives but ended up having several health issues and lazy lives. Today, everything is just a one click or tap away from us. We barely move and thanks to the latest technology. Health-related issues arises when our dependency leads us to laziness and slowly depression which gradually will turn into heart diseases and being obese.
3. THREAT TO ENVIRONMENT:
Tumblr media
Relying completely on AI, it can be a serious threat to our environment and that means we all are connected with the natural ecosystem and the excessive usage of technology requires heavy installation resources (e.g. Cell Phone towers are in the larger number than before to provide its subscribers fast internet and 5G).
4. THREAT TO ANIMALS AND BIRDS:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Animals and birds are the necessary part of our lives. They helps us in an indirect manner to balance the natural ecosystem but the unlimited experiments and uses of AI is leading towards the destruction and even extinction of several species. Several types of animals and birds are near to the mass extinction.
Further, there could be other threats in several aspects due to the excessive usage and experiments to implement AI among us.
Consider, if those AI-based robots due to some malfunctions in their complex infrastructures and algorithms tries to kill you rather than saving you, how`d you react?
CONCLUSIVELY:
Opposing the excessive and limitless implementation of AI around us doesn`t means that I am against the new improvised tech. Only we must have a watch over its interference in those decisions of ours which should be completely ours only.
Even though, I myself is a great fan of Artificial Intelligence and have done some practical (An educational project during COVID19) work using AI.
All I want to say is that AI has truly helped us a lot in a lot of ways but it should have some constraints and regulations to work alongside us so that we can move along till the end of the line.

An unusual gait in a familiar place
West End has, far back in my memory, had old, old houses with doors fancy as hell. Some are right on the street, hidden by shrubbery, shade-loving plants, or overgrown ivy. And others, in traditional Queenslander style, have doors visible from afar, across a yard with a waist-high fence (of some kind, be it metal chicken wire or white pickets). The doors stand, an homage to the passing of time.
Of course, as the suburb continues along its gentrification journey, the houses and properties adhere to a homogenous minimalistic, greyish, depressingly treeless fashion (where there are electronic speakers blaring out nondescript but grating music from tiered, tightly manicured garden beds*). But, when walking along the terribly kept, mostly narrow pathways (proverbial weeds; trees, roots sticking out of cracks in the concrete), you can still spot different doors every few houses or so.

Walking while disabled
Let me tell you, the newer pathways (corporate-sponsored) are no better for accessibility than the shitty but loveable old, narrow ones which have grown woefully uneven over decades of use.
It is so weird to me, to be the current version of myself, and to be thrust back into such an unsteady walking pattern again. That isn't very clear, is it? Okay.
When I was diagnosed at 4 years old, I was walking on my toes and only my toes. It had taken me a long time to get used to the upright bipedal way of life, but not for lack of trying. Then, as the years went on and I undertook rigorous physical therapy, I also had many operations to improve my gait and stability. There was a lot of physical pain, and a lot of falling onto the ground. I would give you an analogy, but right now that feels like a waste of time. Suffice to say, I always had scraped knees and bruised elbows. My Nonna kept iodine in the kitchen cupboard with the analgesics to disinfect the perpetual wounds on my palms. See, I'd use my hands to break my fall each time, and I had two symmetrical wounds in the hearts of my palms, left and right, like accidental stigmata. Unlike the simpler cuts and bruises, these wounds didn't close up for years, and eventually became infected; I had to go to the doctor for medicine to 'fix' the problem, but the doctor said that as long as I was using my hands to break my fall, it was unlikely that the infection would heal.
The problem was that, because I tripped on my toes a lot, I was always falling forwards, not backwards. And the only way to stop face-planting was to use my hands to break the fall. Childhood lasts a long time, doesn't it?^
Eventually, I was wearing these bulky bandages to cushion my hands during the day, and only took them off at night to sleep. The wounds had time to rest, no longer being directly assaulted by gravel, bitumen, concrete or dirt. Nonna kept the iodine just in case.

Oh how the times have changed
Did you know there are no pictures of West End at night (that are free for me to use on this blog)? I would go and take pictures myself, but I'd need a support worker to come with me, and I'd need confidence and maybe a different set of life experiences, but that's just life, isn't it.
As an adult, my walking was so good because of all the work that I'd done, alongside my parents and grandparents, surgeons and treating team, to improve my gait. I didn't fall often. But that's changed, because my ankle had other plans.

Grief is a funny thing. If I had a whole lifetime--and I do--there would not be enough time to unpack it.
Where were we? Ah. Yes, the recent days. So, I was in West End the other night for a thing with some friends, and a bunch of acquaintances as well. And, it's been years, literal years, since I have walked the streets of West End. Actually that's a lie. It's been 18 months (but 18 months and a car crash and a broken ankle will get you somewhere completely different to just 18 months and no bloody car crash; you'll feel it).
These friends of mine, they're not faint-hearted people. They've been around a while. We've gone through fashion trends, heartbreaks, dance battles, tragedy, birthdays, deathdays, highlights and lowlights, betrayal, survival, picnics, alcohol-fuelled love affairs etc. Just a lot, okay? But my walking in all those years was not what it is now.
We used to walk the river some days. We'd go all the way from the city across the bridge to South Bank and onto Boundary Street to go to the book store or the pub. We'd walk blocks and blocks of busy Brisbane streets, no worries. We'd walk from my house to the park and back to my house again. We'd go on the back streets to my favourite Vietnamese place, up the steepest incline in the suburb, and, tipsy after dinner or a gig, walk back the way we came. After all my childhood operations and consistent physical therapy and exercise, I'd fall a lot less. And, I'd fall mostly at home and never in front of people, unless I were drunk.
My stride was sure, and I was incredibly confident in my own abilities. And then the car crash. So, a few nights ago, in shoes that didn't feel that great but were incredibly sensible, and in the midst of a semi-cold Brisbane night, we walked along Boundary Street in the dark, with only streetlights and shoplights to guide the way. My steps painfully slow, my voice unsure, and my (well-cursed) thoughts in a pattern of self-recognition, self-hatred, and concentration. I haven't experienced that level of slowness in front of acquaintances in years, and it was the first time, ever, that I'd walked the main street of West End in such a state.
It brings to mind a level of loathing that would probably be hard to fathom for the average person. Indeed, it is hard to articulate (and very rarely acknowledged or understood by those around me when I talk about it openly--why, I don't know). My friends, God bless, are very patient and generous with their time, their support. But, only having met in adulthood, they've never really seen me struggle like this.

Get a taxi home or whatever
On the way back home from the evening, I was on the threshold of panic. What was wrong with me? Why was I so upset, embarrassed? The worry of walking, the literal worry, creates in me an anxiety and fear that is easier to conquer when I can have verbal reassurances form others that I'm doing well, that I'm not going to fall, and that they will be there to (literally, physically) help me.
Some months ago, when I was still using a wheelchair to mobilise, I had a lady, a near-stranger, tell me I was brave and sooo good to directly tell people what I needed (because, she said, she could never do that). We were at pottery, and I had asked a fellow student, Jan, if I could borrow her tools, and if she could bring me a mug of water. Everyone at pottery who knew me was explicit in their offers of assistance, but I was new to this group and the stranger (by way of being a stranger) didn't know me at all. I replied to the stranger, explaining that it was neither brave nor, as she put it, an indication of my confidence and 'goodness.' As if asking for things that you need--basic, essential needs--is a skill to be worked on. For me, it is a necessity of life.
When I was a child, my needs were unique in that they were the needs of a child with disability. Meaning that the average adult who hadn't come across a disabled kid had no idea what I needed or wanted. They had no idea why I was crying or if I were in pain. I learned to doggedly request things that I needed. I learned to ask 'why' a lot. I learned to speak loudly and often, because if I didn't, most adults would forget that I was slower, prone to falling, at greater risk of drowning. Some adults (and I won't name the ones I remember, because let's face it, it wasn't some adults; it was most adults) decided that I was asking for things just to be difficult, contrary, or selfishly divert attention away from other, less troublesome children. They actively denied me assistance, not to be cruel, but, as was the way for so many children, to teach me a lesson.
What did they teach me? I'm sure it was many things--too many to satisfy you at present. But, back to this lady at pottery. No, asking for things is not a luxury, I told her. She said she admired my outlook and wished that she could do the same. I didn't tell her that this approach of mine came only after ages of trying other things that failed, at the hand of a great and miserable mystery. That adults, teachers, relatives, and others (much older and stronger than me) went to great and ignorant lengths to reprimand me and publicly humiliate me so that I would learn the lesson.
I ask for things so directly because I need them, simple as that. After years of repeating myself, of being confused, being denied, and feeling ashamed of myself for needing extra things that non-disabled people don't necessarily see or understand, I have a habit of stubbornly ignoring the whitehot shame, guilt and grief I feel at having to ask my closest friends and loved ones for physical assistance. Now, people might tell me not to feel that way anymore, that they 'get me' or that I'm okay now and I'm allowed to have needs. Often they say they could never tell that I was having such a hard time navigating this endlessly inaccessible community (yay, narrow unkempt pathways).
Not enough love is given to the observant people who see that I need help, and do the task without drawing much attention to it. I'd much prefer to do things for myself, just so we're clear. But, when required (which is more often these days), I ask for what I need. Most of the time, it's something little that might seem inconsequential to you. The most obvious one is Can we please slow down? when we are walking together, or Can I hold your arm? when walking on uneven pathways, especially at night.
You might find this jarring and awkward at first. But, please don't. It's not special. It's part of life.
*electronic speakers! buried among plants! what have we come to? what about the plants' own language?
^whoever says they want to go back to being a child probably didn't experience much emotional turmoil when they were little (disclaimer: that's just a guess; i'm not the authority on other people or their life experiences)

The Garden and the Surgeon
Mr. And Mrs. Adam and Eve Adam
(Sunday, February 19th 2023 A.D.)
Genesis 2:15-25
Golden Text:
3 The Pharisees also came unto Him, tempting Him, and saying unto Him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?  4 And He answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that He which made them at the beginning made them male and female,  5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?  6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. - Matthew 19:3-6
Jesus reminded the men on Earth that In The Beginning, God made man (male and female, created He them). There was one man Adam.  From him, God created Eve. She was now flesh of his flesh (rib). She was taken out of man. God, of course, did a complete overhaul and made her into a woman. But even before that, God made a beautiful, magnificent garden in Eden.  He told man he was to dress it, keep it up. So we find that God had everything planned. God even gave Adam a job before He blessed him with a wife.
Then God had Adam name all the animals and birds. Adam had to realize that they all came in pairs: the male and the female. Now is perhaps when Adam decided he too should have a wife. He may have understood that he was alone.
God said it is not good for man to be alone. God created a woman from the rib of man to be his help meet, companion and human love.
Message Text   -   Genesis 2:15-25
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden. God has just in the last week message, described the irrigation system and a few facts about Eden. God takes man and places him into this location (Eden). The purpose was so that Adam could dress (work, serve, til, cultivate) the land. (Remember thorns and thistles had not yet been introduced. See Genesis 3). Adam was to keep (tend, care, guard, protect) the land. (We ask ourselves from what or whom was he to protect or guard it? We immediately think of Adam when he did not protect the garden (or his wife Eve) from satan.  Adam was not deceived.  (1st Timothy 2:14)
Having prepared the garden for man's reception, the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden.  Literally, God caused Adam to rest in it as an abode of happiness and peace.
To dress it. Adam was to be a farmer. Adam was to till, cultivate, trim and otherwise work it. Apparently God designed it so that the plants, flowers, and trees of Eden stood in need of cultivation from the hand of man.
And to keep it. Keep it makes me think of keeping watch over it, but watch it from what? There were no other humans and the animals were all friendly. There was one (the devil) a greater adversary, against whom, perhaps, Adam was appointed to watch. If that is true, then we see that Adam failed. He failed to protect his wife and Adam did not defend God when the evil one called God a liar (The devil said, Ye shall not surely die. God had said in the day you eat, you will die.) Also the evil one said God just wants to control you and keep you from being like Him. (For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.) But, perhaps I am getting ahead of my telling of this account.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
LORD God commanded ... of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat.  Note the continued use of the Name LORD (Jehovah) God (Elohiym). Remember, by the Name Jehovah, God was not known until God revealed This Name to Moses at the burning bush (Exodus 3; see Exodus 6:3 as proof text). Thus we have continuing proof that this book was most assuredly written by Moses. For the use of this revealed Name Jehovah, indicates Genesis could not have been written by the predecessors of Moses, as some contend. God tells Adam you can eat of every tree (of all these trees). Adam may freely eat them as his food. Therefore we know that they are of the trees God had given to eat in Genesis 1:29 (trees which have fruit with seeds in them.) Adam could eat oranges, apricots, apples.
APPLES?!? I thought apples were the forbidden fruit. Apples would be of fruit given by God for man to eat. the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat (food). Genesis 1:29 (This apple is a fruit tree which has in it, and yields, seed. It was to be freely eaten as food.  So the Apple idea does not fit. Apples could be freely eaten. What kind of fruit was it?  WE DO NOT KNOW.) Thus the forbidden fruit would most likely, not have seeds.
And Jehovah (Elohiym) commanded the man (Adam). This shows a degree of intellectual development, the ability to communicate and understand. This is also incompatible with modern evolution theories. The words of Adam, likewise, assume the pre-existence of a moral nature which would understand right/wrong obedience/disobedience. Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat.
Adam, it thus appears, was permitted to partake of the tree of life. But God would also be clear not to eat from the tree of knowledge.
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it. Speculation is the best we have as to what kind of tree was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. There is no reason to suppose that any noxious or poison properties resided in its fruit. The death that was to follow on transgression was Spiritual death. The prohibition was by GOD, HIMSELF. Hence the tree was a sign and symbol of what that law of God required: Obey and live. Disobey and die.  It was a question of the distinction between right and wrong, duty and sin.
For in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Literally it means die, death, dying, thou shalt die. This eventually involved physical death (Genesis 3:19). BUT what about Spiritual separation from God?  That, I believe is Spiritual death.  And that happened immediately!
Yet, when fruit was taken from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, this would result in eventual physical death. And the process would start also on the day Adam ate thereof. Prior to this sin, the  immortality of Adam was guaranteed. So now his mortal death was also certain.
HOWEVER, God warns Adam, although you may eat of every tree, there is one that I GOD must warn you about. IF you eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you will surely die (Death will enter). But, what kind of death?  God, as a good Father, warns His first creation, Adam who is known as the son of God, (Luke 3:38) death will result. What kind of death immediately resulted? What kind of death ultimately resulted? Spiritual, physical, eternal?
18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
God, of course, knew Adam was going to agree with Eve to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God had made his body from the dust of the Earth. Then God breathed the breath of life into his nostrils and Adam became a living soul. This same type of breath of God was to only be in man (male and female created He them) and in no other organism on Earth.
With regard to man (Adam), an account of his formation, at once minute and exhaustive, has been given in the preceding verses (Genesis 2:7-17). Please note the difference of man to become a living soul.
And the Lord God said, It is not good for man to be alone. God showed the animals to Adam and had him name them. THIS WAS NOT FOR ADAM TO FIND A POTENTIAL MATE. That would go against God’s plan for man. And against the later prohibition of God of being with an animal. That would be an abomination. That would have resulted in the death of man. Read the following:
Leviticus 18:23: Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
Exodus 22:19:  Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
Deuteronomy 27:21: Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.
If a man is with an animal, that man is to die. So why did God bring all the animals before Adam? God was showing Adam that the normal course was a male and a female. Adam would thus realize that he was alone. And God would impress upon him that it was not good for man to be alone. Can one man or two men reproduce children?  NO!  Can one woman or two or five produce children?  NO!  One man, one woman, together until death us do part is the plan of God.
We know the obvious purpose, be fruitful and fill the earth (reproduction) but think of the many other things the couple will enjoy. Talking, teasing, touching; worshiping God together. As they worship and meet with God, they will appreciate Him more, and appreciate His Gift to them.
19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air. Before God makes Eve, God allows man to see every beast of the field, and fowl of the air. These are living things that God had previously formed, (Hebrew yatsar can mean present or past). Beast: all that walked on earth and fowl: everything that flew (birds, insects, bats) were brought to Adam. Since Adam was given dominion God asked Adam to name them. Did Adam name the plants? Not then, but someone had to name them. (Remember life and living does not come into being as a concept until day five with fish and fowl. Plants do not share the idea of life as set forth in Genesis 1). Did Adam name the things in the sea (fish, whales, clams, oysters)? Not then. Adam named all the land breathing animals and every thing that flew, “Cow, pig, dragon, crocodile, robin, fly, duckbilled platypus, bat.” (Of course it was in God’s language  before the Tower of Babel).
And God brought to Adam the beasts which He had formed. The writer only notices that those animals which were brought to Adam which had been previously formed by God from the ground (land breathing animals) and the birds of the air. If one understands that God was showing Adam he was alone, if that was the purpose of God, it then makes sense that God had him name and see those recreating, reproducing (after their kind). Adam did not gather together the cattle as a shepherd doth his sheep. It was most likely similar to the Ark when God brought them two by two: a male and a female.
Another reason for Adam to name was to show and reveal his sovereignty or lordship over the inferior creation. And whatsoever Adam (literally, the man) called every living creature (i.e. that was brought to him), that was the name thereof.
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
As Adam was naming cattle, fowl, beast, did Adam see they were all in pairs? Then the phrase: for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. There was not found one to help and complete Adam. We can all agree that would rule out Adam marrying an animal. That was strictly forbidden. Lie with an animal and you had earned an immediate death penalty. Also we can agree no animal was to be his helper or could provide the companionship to take away the loneliness. (Not even a dog or a cat) Did God deliberately have Adam name the animals so Adam would understand and comprehend his need for a partner (help meet)? God already knew Adam needed Eve. But, did Adam know? Did God use this to prepare Adam to receive the gift of woman? Would Adam have appreciated Eve as much before he realized how alone and lonely was he (man)?
And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field. So Adam was not a cave man. He was not fumbling around for speech. Man was fully articulate. Speech and language fully-formed. Adam spoke in Hebrew or whatever the universal language was before the Tower of Babel.
But for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. This was the main reason for assembling the creatures. It was meant to reveal they were all paired up and he (Adam) was alone. The longing for a partner was thus natural and part of the plan of God for man. Now how would God accomplish this help meet task?
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept. BUT GOD has everything under control. GOD knows what Adam needs. God causes Adam to fall more asleep then if Adam had been given a 21st century anesthesia. When Adam was in this state, God operated and opened his flesh and took out one of Adam's ribs (yes, a real rib). How do we know God opened Adam's flesh? Because we are told that God closed the flesh. Did God use Adam's own body to create Eve to forever remind him of their essential oneness? As Adam came to know Eve, he must have seen many ways that they were different, but he would never forget that they are essentially one and they are made of the same substance. They are more alike than they are different: (each had 2 eyes; 2 ears, 2 arms, 2 hands, 5 fingers, et cetera). What exactly did God take from Adam's side to make Eve, just bone; or bone, sinew and muscle?  Did God use some of Adam's hidden substance (DNA)? We don't really know, and does it really matter? Cloning and genetic replication shows every cell in our body contains the body's entire genetic blueprint. If God took some of Adam's cells or DNA, God had to make necessary changes, to make and sustain the vast differences of the woman with her reproductive organs and different plumbing system, with whom God would procreate all living mankind: Eve and her daughters.
Nevertheless, the story that women have one more rib than men because of the way Eve was created is a myth.  If Adam's rib did not grow back (ribs grow back) or was not otherwise replaced by God, Cain, Abel, Seth and the other boys would have been born with all twelve pairs of ribs.
And He took one of his ribs This sleeping while the operation was taking place was clearly not a sleep of weariness, but a supernatural slumber. God took a rib (tsela = something bent, from tesala, to incline; hence a rib), and closed up the flesh (literally, flesh) instead thereof. Does verse 23 imply that not the bare rib, but the rib with the accompanying flesh, was extracted?
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man.
Then God did a marvelous thing for which most men have been "forever appreciative." God made life worth living in a new way. God made a perfect counterpart for man. God could have made anything in the universe or out of it, God was as unlimited as HIS Mind would guide Him. Of all that God could have made, God made Eve, a woman to be your wife.
And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made He (literally, built into;) a woman. God made a woman, suddenly and within minutes. She did not evolve over millions of years. Her female parts were constructed at once in a very short period of time. This one God created was a Gift from God. She is His daughter. She is no mistake. Although we are told details about Adam, we are here told God made a woman.  GUESS WHAT?  God made a woman.  That is what the Bible says. How did He do it?  HE IS GOD! Come on! Look up into some starry sky. As far as you can see is the Creation of God. AND IT IS ALL WITHIN THE ONE GOD. Yes, the universe exists in God. (Psalm 139:14)
God brought her unto the man (Adam). WHAT A GIFT!  Man cannot live without his wife and be everything God wants him to be. The bringing her to Adam was the answer to the question asked at the wedding. Who gives this woman? GOD.
There is a beautiful Jewish traditional saying God made woman, not out of man's foot to be under him, nor out of his head to be over him, but "She was taken from under his arm that he might protect her and from next to his heart that he might love her." (Donald Grey Barnhouse) God made a rib of man into a woman: It is important to realize that there are not two beginnings to the human race, one in Adam and one in Eve. There was one beginning of the human race in Mr. and Mrs. Adam. God presented her to the man (Proverbs 18:22). So God has a plan: one man with one woman until death they do part.
On awaking from his sleep, what would Adam say?
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Adam awoke (or was awakened by God or Eve?) Adam looked. What did his marveling eyes behold? His wife! Perfect in every way! Adam KNEW not what had happened. (Had God told him?  Or is it because in the pre-sin [before the sin and fall of Adam] and post sin body [fully redeemed heavenly body] things will be very, very, very different?) Adam must have been excited as he beheld his Eve in all her natural, unspoiled, beauty. Adam said (and I do not suppose that he spoke in a monotone) WOW!!!! She is of my bone and she is identified as Woman. (Hebrew=ishshah (ish-shaw) This is the feminine of iysh ([eesh]=man). He was first - the source (bone of my bones).
She was created to be a helper perfectly suited to him. Thus a subordinate role of wives to husbands is found before the sin and fall, not only after it. So men take good care of this GIFT from GOD. BUT Adam was not interested in discussing theology at that moment. (Remember your wedding night?) He was excited! What did Adam do next? Adam identified her as Woman. I believe what Adam really said in his heart or inner being was. . . Hallelujah!  And . . . amen!  Perhaps the first man had the first dance in the Spirit, even though, he was not a Pentecostal.
He was no longer lonely or alone!  He was no longer without a companion.   ...so husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it (Ephesians 5:28-29).
And Adam may have also said: WOW!!! At last one has come who is suitable to be my partner. I have a mate as do the animals and birds. The joyful astonishment, the man's eye now rests with the full power of first human love.
Bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh. The language is expressive at once of woman's derivation from man and likeness to man. Adam assigns to her a name.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife. Who spoke this prophetic word that should go forth to every married couple since this first marriage?  A forsaking (on the part of the woman as well as the man) of father and mother, not in respect of duty, but in locality and having their own household.
Man is to leave his physical father and mother, but NOT LEAVE FATHER GOD. God gives His first created son of God (Luke 3:38) to be father of the human race. God gave His daughter (Who was Eve's father?) They were to become One flesh. Father-God does not have flesh. (God is Spirit John 4:24- BUT Jesus said, if you have seem ME, you have seen the Father - John 14:9). These two were to cleave (cling, stick, stay close) and become one (in number) flesh (body). Here God institutes monogamous marriage, home, and family as the basic unit for the one human race. It is the only place provided for by God for the training of the young (Deuteronomy 6:7; Deuteronomy 11:19). It is so common to human history people seldom think or realize that is of God.
Many want to say the monogamous, two-parent family was invented by man, so they say they can change it. And in the United States they think they did. But that arrangement, now legalized by man will lead many people straight to hell and the lake of fire. (Thank you, U.S. Supreme Court). But God instituted Adam and Eve as husband and wife in the original family. This is God's ideal and it is the only legitimate family in the Bible on the face of this Earth. No same sex, homosexual cohabitation; there is not any polygamy; there is no keeping of a mistress (whose spouse does not understand their needs); not any kind of adultery. Nor is there any living together outside the marriage bond, that God will bless. Not even marriage, divorce, marriage, divorce (serial adultery). God's ideal for the family is one man and one woman together for nine hundred (900) years. (Genesis 5:5)
They shall be one flesh. And the idea of one flesh is not just a way of expressing sexual union. Sexual union is certainly related to the idea but is only one part of what it means to be one flesh. There are also Spiritual dimensions to one flesh. Love (NOT LUST) is the key. Love of the other as one loves his/her own flesh. That is an essential part of one flesh: put the needs of your spouse first if you can (without violating the law of God).
This verse teaches the indissoluble character of marriage. It is to last until death us do part. Husband and wife become "one flesh" under God's blessing. In extramarital sex or any other kind of union, the partners come under God's curse. (Adulterous couples are both to be put to death (Leviticus 20:10). Divorce, without cause, is adultery (Matthew 5:32; 19:19)
With God, there is no such thing as "casual sex." Every sexual relationship at least begins a one-flesh bond. It depends on whether the bonding takes place in a relationship with the right conditions: committed love, demonstrated by the marriage commitment, and a pursuit of true intimacy. Sex in marriage does not guarantee a true one-flesh relationship, but this Godly bond is impossible outside of marriage. They shall become one flesh: The one flesh relationship takes time to become, but it is truly a blessing.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
And they were both naked. Adam and his one wife, Eve, were not wearing any clothes naked (Hebrew=naked) and they did not feel shame or disappointment. The two of them were bare, without any clothes, but as innocents they felt or experienced no shame. They were husband and wife. The idea of "nakedness" of course means nudity. These two were as innocent as a newborn. Newborn children would not even be concerned about the other's body parts. Nakedness embodies that idea of being totally open and exposed as a person before God and man, but neither the one who is naked, nor the one who is looking at the nakedness feels at all unusual. To be naked . . . and not ashamed means you have no concept of the unrighteousness or wrongness or the things that may make it wrong. Adam and Eve knew they were physically naked - nude - before the fall. They did not know what was a sinful state as they had not yet sinned. They were not in a sinful condition before disobedience and sin.
Naked: When we want to be most attractive to someone else, we bathe, perhaps get a hair cut or a good shampoo. We change our day to day appearance. We think, "If I really want to impress this person, I have to fix myself up." None of this feeling was present with Adam and Eve. They were not trying to impress the other. What you see, is what you get. They were at peace one with the other.  No need to try and impress. BUT, remember also this is a youthful strong man and a perfectly created woman of young child bearing years. (Except for a few of us, here, it may be appropriate to ask: Do you remember those days?)
In closing chapter two, if you get nothing more from this chapter, REMEMBER Your wife is a gift from God. And as God's gift, if you dishonor or disrespect her, you also dishonor and disrespect the Gift Giver. PROTECT her!  Learn from Adam's sin, made clear in Chapter 3. Remember Adam was not deceived (1st Timothy 2:14). Should Adam have protected Eve? He did not.  The result of disobedience and lack of taking his leadership role of Adam was disastrous for them and their family to come. Do you protect your wife and family from all evil?
The man and his wife. The first pair of human beings are henceforth recognized in their relationship to one another as husband and wife. And they were not ashamed because their souls were pure and holy. Their bodies were made holy through the Spirit which was in them.
CONCLUSION:  God here has taken care of His first creation, Adam by giving Adam a wife, named Eve.  She would be the mother of all living.  If you are alive, you can trace your lineage back to Adam and Eve.  Eve was a Gift from God. But even before God gave Adam, Eve, He made the Garden and gave Adam a job. Then Adam named the animals and flying things. Then Adam realized he was alone. God made Adam a GIFT. When God could have made anything in the universe, God gave Adam, his wife. That is what we mean, one man one woman together, until death us do part. Anything else masquerading as marriage is sin and rebellion and will lead those so involved to hell and the lake of fire. And you and I should not want them there. God does not. Do you love them enough to tell them?  Do you love them enough to tell them the truth and tell them in the love of God?
If you want them to go to eternal torment, then you need to check and see where you and God differ.  God does not want any to perish (2nd Peter 3:9). But yes, the only legitimate marriage, the Bible way, the God way is one man, one woman forsaking all others and being together until death us do part.
Celebrate your marriage and thank God for His Fantastic, Priceless Gift, your wife.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know that You love me. I know that You do not want any to perish in hell, but You want all to come to repentance. When we sin and rebel against You, we earn for ourselves: everlasting torment in hell and the lake of fire. Help me to see others as You see them.  Use me to tell others of Your Love, that allowed Jesus to come to earth and die to pay the death penalty my first sin and other sins have earned me. Jesus, You died on the cruel, bloody cross to pay my penalty.  Lord, I realize that You love me.  You died to pay my penalty and save me from hell, if I will only accept that and You. I repent of all sin. I turn to You. Please cleanse me and forgive me. Lord Jesus, thank You for dying for me. Thank You. I now receive Jesus Christ into my heart and life as my Savior and only Lord. I believe You died for me.  I believe God raised You from the dead.  And since I receive you, I am no longer a child of the devil. I am a child of God. Thank You. Help me live for You, Lord.  This I pray and declare in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen and amen.d amen.
May God bless you in all that you do for Him, Brother J.R. Soul winner, Bible teacher, Defender of the Faith
